Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen, you want experience during your football season,
We'll buckle up.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Sweet cheeks.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
We've got all the experience in the world. This is
I want your flex with Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.
Mike and Dan break down everything you need to set
your lineups, from position rankings to starts and sits. The
guys help you make those hard decisions. And now let's
catch your flexod here's Dan Bayer and Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Well, Week nine left us with one quarterback that shouldn't
have been in the game, and Monday Night, maybe a
quarterback that should have been in games a long long
time ago. Welcome in hit, Mike up ats Rolando. You
can find me at Dan Bayer on Fox. Ian Roddy
is the executive producer. You can find him at Ian
Roddy Underscore and Mike. I don't know if you want

(00:54):
to start in DC or in the desert, but two
quarterback situations completely opposite from each other. But Jade Daniels
out a while, Jacoby Brissett maybe in for a while.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Well, let's start with the the one that we know,
and then we'll get to the enigma wrapped in a question,
wrapped into a what does your franchise want to do
kind of question? With Arizona in Washington. Obviously did Jade
and Daniels injury one of the more gruesome things that
you'll see on a football field. And then it begat
the should he have been in the game? Dan Quinn

(01:28):
after giving it the twenty four hours, came back said no,
that's my fault.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
He shouldn't have been in And I get into that.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
I'm torn because obviously he's missed a lot of time, right,
Jade Daniels been on and off the field, in and
out a bunch. So are you trying to thinking in
those final minutes you were going to gain something? And
this is where you get into what you're thinking in
the moment as a coaching staff the player himself, like

(01:56):
what am I going to learn gain from being in
here for a couple more possessions versus the potential risk
of being run off the field because you're not thinking
about that injury. That's also one everything that could go
wrong in terms of body positioning, rotation down to the turf, Like,

(02:19):
I don't know what the calculation would be on the
odds of that happening, right, So that that that happened.
I can't just say, well, he shouldn't have been there
one hundred percent, Like I don't know what the what
the goal was in that process.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
Do you feel like starters get pulled that frequently in games,
like even though you're losing by a lot. I didn't
like it personally. Me personally, I didn't ever think, why
the heck is Jayden and Daniel still out there?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
I certainly do yell at myself. I don't know about you,
Dan in blowout situations to whereas like, all right, what's
what's to be gained? And that and that's the question,
like what's to be gained?

Speaker 6 (02:54):
Like in college.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Sure, but it feels like in the NFL we see
these close gets, you know, even since in versus Chicago
your Bears this past weekend. If we see it, these
games come down to the wire, even when they appear
like they're going to be over.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Wow. It's so I would say this about Daniels because
of the injuries that he's had earlier this season, there
was no reason to have him out there. And we've heard,
you know, we have this kind of discussion as well
about preseason. Should guys play in the preseason and in
you know, hearing guys who played in the preseason. You

(03:29):
can scheme stuff up. You can make sure that your
quarterback is not going to get hit. It may be
very basic stuff at that point, but you can do it.
Jayde Daniels running on his own is a little bit
of Jayden and Daniel's fault. So it's fine for dan
Quinn to, you know, to take all of it. I
feel a little bit on Jade and daniels shoulders, but ultimately,

(03:49):
if he has been hurt twice already this season, there
was no point for him to be in the game
at that point, especially if Mariota had gotten snaps last week.
You're not putting him in a bad situation because you know,
he got the start on Monday night, we could go
against the Chiefs and week eight, So yeah, he shouldn't
have been in the game. But I don't think it's

(04:09):
all on Quinn. I think Daniels has to take a
little bit of that, of that responsibility.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, some of that to live to see another day.

Speaker 3 (04:16):
And it gets like the next level of philosophy of
you know, changing who you are, and I think it
begets the conversation that on the other side of this
when we talk about the Arizona Cardinals and what they
are as an offense and identity and Kyler Murray as
a player, But for Jade Daniels, that's part of what
made him the player. So the instinct is I'm going

(04:39):
to take off, I'm going to try to get that
first down and then we're going to extend our possession.
And unfortunately it put him in harm's way. And again
that is about his freak. A thing like that's not
a hip drop tackle that felled in. That's not you know,
some of these other things where it became the contact. Necessarily,
it's the how you land.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I don't know how anybody in that truck on NBC
couldn't see that his arm was the way that it was.
They just kept the shot locked on him as he's
laying on the ground and you can you can see it.
Like for some reason it was like not seen right
away because they just kept on showing it. Usually they'll

(05:22):
they'll pan away from a from a you know, a
gruesome injury like that. Then they stopped showing it. You know,
other highlights have blurred it for for what it was,
but it was on the screen for more than I expected.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Yeah, No, there was h That was a lengthy few
seconds there, and maybe it's in my head a little
bit longer. Dan, I don't know what the actual lapse
time was, but I agree it seemed like normally we're
at a commercial, we tag it out, like all right,
he's he's hurt. Let's let's bring it back to the booth.
You guys spin some yarn while they attend to him.

(05:55):
Whatever the case is. But yeah, just a gruesome end
to what was a an awful game for Washington overall. You're Seahawks,
you know, having their way with them from pillar to post.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, And honestly, I would say this a gruesome to
make that segue a gruesome fantasy year for any Washington commander.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
That's it. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
I mean deebo at his five for twenty one or
five for forty one, I should say as a receiver,
Rodriguez came in, nobody started him. Jayden did have the
fifty one yards and a touchdown before leaving, but otherwise.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
The entire season has sucked. Yeah, really, like for anybody,
if you had any hope for anybody on that team,
it has been out the window.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
And mclaurin's been unavailable and now you come back to
whatever it looks like with Mariota under center.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, it's et cler lost in week two, yep. I
mean zach Ertz has been the the standard bearer. Maybe
have consistency for the Commanders.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Well, and then we talk about the tight end position. Well,
there's your op check down time. And again Yeah, the
last four weeks six seven, six, four are his target counts.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
M it's crazy. Yeah, lost the season.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
It's tough.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
But for Jaden Daniels, I mean just brutal because he's
a guy that folks not necessarily in the same line
as Cjstrab but a lot of questions, I can he
stay healthy? Can he be the guy that we saw
once upon a time?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Mm hmm. And this is I didn't expect the Commanders
to be good. That was my out on a limb
and our stuff. I had them missing the playoffs. But
for this to happen, and now this to happen, is
is really too bad. Now the Cardinals in their situation
with their win Monday Night against the Dallas Cowboys, you
have even Joe Buck and Troy Aikman saying that they

(07:50):
expect Brissett to start in the week ten against the Seahawks,
by the way, in a divisional matchup, but all things
clicking for the Cardinals with Jacoby Brissette under center, everybody
getting a boost in value.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
It feels like, yeah, we saw the explosion from Marvin
Harrison Junior seven for ninety six in a touchdown. You say, ah,
you know, that's a good day for a like from
where he's been.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
This is a glorious you know, ascent ten.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Targets high, seven receptions, career high. That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (08:24):
It's an amazing thing, you know, because all week, and
we even talked about it as we did the preview
for the weekend, right, we we didn't get noticed until
as we were finishing up that the likelihood was Brissette
was going to start because all week Kyler Murray's trending
coming out of there by, coming out of all this,
he is going to be the guy to get an opportunity.

(08:44):
Well not so fast, and then wasn't even active when
it was all said and done, which begets that question
that I asked on the Friday episode of Injury Reports,
what are we doing in the wake of what Baltimore did?
Is this by the letters or did you play some
gamesmanship here with God, not that the guy it matters

(09:06):
because Cowboys defense stinks. I think we can all stipulate
to that. But Jacoby Brissett, playing on time and in
rhythm got Marvin Harrison Junior involved early. He was on
our hot plays. Of course, the assumption was murray, But
I think if I just said Arizona QB, nobody would
have argued with me, given what the Cowboys have been.
But Persett six two sixty one and two added the

(09:29):
rushing touchdown. Just a monster day for him. But you
just got to be excited by the way the ball
comes off his hands and again you hang at you know,
a little morsel of salt there because it is the Cowboys.
But Michael Wilson catching the ball and stride Trey McBride,
he found the end zone again.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I mean, come on, yeah, he was allergic.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
To the painted grass a year ago. But all of
these guys, you know, had their their marks. But for
Marvin Harrison Junior, just a massive game that everybody was
waiting on. And I hope they took advantage of the
opportunity against this civil like Dallas d Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Well, and that's a good point because it is going
to be different when they face the Seahawks, but there
does seem to be more consistency. Also, it seems that
Amari de Marcado has.

Speaker 4 (10:16):
Maybe got back out of the doghouse.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, and with his great heads up play that he
had on Monday night, with staying in bounds at the
on his run under five minutes to go there in
the contest, even see Jonathan Gannon, you know, giving him
the words of encouragement, so lesson learned. He can move
on and maybe there's a change in the Arizona backfield
moving on.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Yeah, it'll be interesting. Bam Knight just nine for twenty
seven did have a seventeen yard run, So do the math.
Eight for ten it's not even a full body length, man,
I mean, come on, sure, so dismal effort. So good
job by the Dallas defense on those See that's the
first compliment they got all year. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott, I
saw there was a cree asked stet that Ed Werder

(11:01):
had up on his Twitter account just about the Cowboys
in general with Dak Prescott when they're down ten or
more points at halftime.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
I think it said it was one in eighteen.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Wow, the single win forty to thirty nine and twenty
twenty against Atlanta. Otherwise they're dead and buried, which is
kind of an interesting little uh tidbit and all of this,
but two fifty one and one for him. He added
thirty four yards on the ground. Yay, ceedee, lamb head
seven for eighty five, pickings, six for seventy nine. It's

(11:36):
all empty calories. And because nobody's fine in the end zone,
right that first touchdown coming coming on the block punt
that bounced off the dude's helmet, which is great. I mean,
it all counts just the same. But the Cowboys special
teams and defense got you score.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
As someone who needed very little from some Cowboy participants,
I ended up getting it in the end. But that
blocked pont I'm like, no, no, because then they give
up possession. You know, the defense is tired because they
were just on the field. Then they got to go
back out again, and sure enough, Arizona drove down the
field and ended up cashing in after that. But it

(12:13):
was quite a night for the Cardinals on Monday in
a good way, and quite a night for the Commanders
on Sunday night in a bad way. We'll take a
look at the rest of week nine here on I
want your flex. What stood out to us in the matchups?
Get Mike at Swollen Dome, find Ian Roddy at Ian
Roddy Underscore. You could find me at Dan Byer on Fox.
Plus we have a report card check to do, and

(12:34):
Mike's got some waiver wires ahead of week ten. It's
all next year, and I want your flex. It is,
I want your flex. Find Mike ats Swollen Dome, you
can find me at Dan Byer on Fox, and Ian
Roddy at Ian Roddy Underscore. All right, guys, let's bounce
around Week nine. Mike Wood stood out to you from
what the games that we saw maybe on Thursday night

(12:55):
and also on the full slate on Sunday, go all.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
The way through.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Just an odd week in terms of trying to be predictive.
For one, I mean, you had an outright double digit
favorite lose in the Green Bay Packers. That offense was
deplorable over the course of the time, and maybe we
have to look and reevaluate the Carolina Panthers and the
job Dave can Allison Company are doing. So that's a

(13:19):
larger football perspective. But you know, for a lot of teams,
you know, the inconsistency reared its head in a major
way in Week nine. You know, Kansas City Buffalo's defense
had been awful virtually the entire year in terms of
being able to move the ball on them anyway, and

(13:40):
still a top twelve scoring defense as it were. But
you know, for the Chiefs, they got blitz blitzed up there.
You look at you know, Las Vegas pops up on Jacksonville,
not that you expected Jacksonville to go and you know
win in a laugher, but all of a sudden, Gino
Smith has this monster game. It's like, is it just

(14:00):
mean that brock Bauers is that good? Jacksonville led up?
Like why am I missing? Scheme wise where this guy
gets over and asking Genty got into the end zone
so I hate him too. And JJ McCarthy where we
too quick to bury the Vikings and what they may
have had on the table as they take down Detroit.
So you know, some teams kind of rising up based

(14:24):
on bad publicity, Pittsburgh handling in Indianapolis, so some of
those things to where maybe we have more questions than answers.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Yeah, Genty much more of the value in the passing
game than he has been in the in the running game.
But I do think that brock Bowers is his health
is a big deal. But honestly, it's playing the Jaguars.
You know, I did that. We talked about the trade
that I did in my league that I regretted and

(14:53):
really regretted this past weekend, and genty was a part
of that deal. But you now have division games coming up.
You have two against Denver because you haven't played them yet.
You got the Chargers on your slate that you got
to face. We expect the Chiefs defense in your rematch
to be there. They've they've got some defense. They got
the Cowboys in two weeks. That's maybe the only reprieve

(15:15):
for a while. But I think it was more about
the ability to play at Jacksonville defense than anything else.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Mike, you got one off, certainly not anticipating greatness, but
for a week, if you you had some faith that
he'd find there for his one Yeah, no, I mean,
but it's picking the spots, right. You assume a decent
level of workload, but what they've given you to this point,
it was tough to be confident. So yeah, you got

(15:43):
to pick your spots for sure, But yeah, for me,
I look at just in terms of the eye test
of picking games. Just a difficult week, you know, certainly
for me. I don't want to speak for the rest
of the game picking community or you guys in particular,
but you know, I obviously.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Was entertained by the Bears and Bangles, and.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
I hope Joe Flacco's out there throwing the football till
he's fifty because it's fun as hell to watch. But
you know, all in it was very interesting week nine,
Like I was thoroughly entertained with each each had twist
in the week.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
I'll tell you, you know, I'm in a confidence pool.
I went eight and six against the spread this past week.
My most to most confidence picks you know, out the
window fifth most confident lost. So to that point that
was we haven't talked about it. On Friday. I felt
it was kind of a funky week as well, and
I liked Carolina getting the points, you know, at least

(16:38):
in that you know scenario and hit on that. But
everything else, I you know, it was a tough read,
absolutely was Ian. What do you got for Week nine?

Speaker 5 (16:48):
Yeah, A few things on one big thing to me
was that the Patriots don't trust Trevion Henderson because this
was this was the spot for him, you know, with
Ramandra Stevenson out, maybe maybe straight up saying they don't
trust him is a little harsh, but for him to
take over that role as the lead back because he
was expensive to get in fantasy drafts.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
If you guys remember, yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
He rose up the boards pretty fast.

Speaker 6 (17:11):
You had to.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
You had to fork over a pretty pretty high price
to get him, and they just refused to give him
many touches. I think he did finally hit double digit
points today, which was nice to see at least, but
that was this was it for him, and and they didn't.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
So I don't know. I don't know if he's in
a doghouse or what.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
But I'll tell you what I think it is.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (17:31):
I think they have bigger fish to fry. He's still
a rookie, he's nine weeks sitt into his pro career.
I think that they think they can do damage in
the playoffs and they're not gonna wear them out. They're
not gonna they They've also guys they got to buy
in Week fourteen, remember of the Buccaneers went on their
run with Brady. They had a late buye that year,

(17:52):
Like that's honestly, and because I listen, I'm gonna r
mondre Stevenson now owner after the awful trade that I read,
and he didn't play in that game. And so I
see Torrell Jennings come in and score a touchdown and
I'm like, crap, now anybody can do that for the Patriots.
You know, I was happy to see that Trevon Henderson
didn't get twenty eight carries, but yeah, to your point,

(18:12):
you only got fourteen. But you know, I think that
I think they'd like to keep him in that ballpark
because you're like, they're more worried about winning games and
going to the playoffs and winning games there than you
know anything fantasy was.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
Still in eighteen to twelve split grind it out.

Speaker 3 (18:30):
You know, he's a guy that iman four for thirty
two on six targets out of the passing games. So
they've clearly established a trust there in that part of
game of something for sure, right because it look with
rookie running backs that's always been the question of like
how how much do they they want you on the field,
Like it's one thing to bring you on where you're
obviously going to get a target, but to be able

(18:53):
to disguise it as maybe a run or a pass
and all of those things, like you know, you don't
want to be too obvious as it were. Yeah, So
like that means they trust him to block at this
point too, to a point that they need to. So yeah,
I think with the way you laid it out, Dan
is perfect at seven and two. Uh, there's there's a

(19:16):
bigger prize because everybody's got warts.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Yeah, and I think that his value as well. And
I think this I and this kind of leads to
your point, but Trevion Henderson's real value to the Patriots
is that he can bust one from seventy five yards,
you know, like that, Like it's this big playability and
so you don't want to take that away from him
by wearing it down. But he is a threat. So

(19:39):
defenses at least have to recognize that when he does
catch the ball out of the backfield, whether it's two
times or four times a game, that he is somebody
that can take it to the house. And the Patriots
have a lot of talent on offense. But I don't
know if anybody has you know that sort of talent
like he does.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
No, I mean that's it's true and it's valid.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
I just feel like if you have somebody on your
offense with that capability, you should give him more chances
to do it. But I hear you, guys, I hear
they've probably saving him a little bit. And again, like
you said, he's a rookie, he's got plenty, plenty of
time to prove this wrong.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Well, I think it's a great, great point. There's something
that I was I was thinking as well. So I'm
glad you brought it up because I think we all
wanted to know, just like as Mike said, we all
wanted to know what JJ McCarthy was going to do,
you know, and and how that is going to play out.
And I still think that the you know, the jury
is out on that part. But I don't mean to
cut you off. But if there was anything else that
you had from week.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
No, no, not k not cutting me off. I mean
something else I did notice. Well, if you guys remember
a few weeks ago, I kind of brought it to
the table. Is Tyler Warren the best tight end in football?
I'd like to apologize for that, not that he isn't incredible,
but Brock Bauers is still very much the best tight
end in football.

Speaker 6 (20:47):
He just was hurt and that's all it was.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Because well, but in the moment, right you had the parenthetical.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Yeah, there, rock Bauers off the table because once upon
a time I used to do lineup calls columns and
I would take out the first five guys in each
in each of the categories, like we're not We're not
gonna I'm not going to write five hundred words on
on Adrian Peterson when he was at his peak.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
So you know, that's what we'll do. We'll carry that
out that.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Out there, and it's not even an indictment on on
Tyler Warren, like he honestly might be the second best
tight end of football, or at least third. But but
Bowers is honestly just a different beast that was incredible
to watch.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
I know that this is this was not the main key,
and I understand that CJ. Stroud was knocked out of
the game, yep. But I tested this out on the
guys on Sunday and I said, is the Nick Chubb
Woody Marks Combo backfield the most worthless that we have
seen in fantasy football, Like, I mean, it is so

(21:47):
unappealing to have either of those guys. And then CJ.
Stroud gets knocked out, Davis Mills ends up Stroud knocked
out in the second quarter, I believe, yeah, and Mills
throws thirty passes in this game, Like I am, like,
we talk about how bad the Texans offensive line is,
but my goodness, I've got some Nick Chubb shares, and

(22:08):
I have some Woody Marks Chairs shares, and I don't
want shares in either guys.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Yeah, I think it's time to take the loss and
and put that down on your tax return for twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
I mean, somebody pointed out Spears and Pollard. I'm like,
at least Spears seems to have some upside.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
He's got some juice to it everyone.

Speaker 5 (22:26):
While the only other tantem that I even think of
is Michael Carter and Bam Knight right now.

Speaker 6 (22:30):
But it's cool.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Taking over so.

Speaker 6 (22:38):
Atto that exciting compared to Chubb and Mark.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
I would rather have, Yes, I would rather have I
would rather have that.

Speaker 6 (22:48):
Then maybe it's the USC and me, but I think
I prefer what he marks.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
Yeah, I think you could boltron those two guys, and
if they run on each other's shoulders, I'll still take
at this point like I trust and look, I'll probably
go back to Kyler Murray and maybe all bets are
off after that. But right now, I mean it's sputtered.
I mean the Houston offense and either of those guys,
and you have to pick one of them to play, right,

(23:13):
which one? Like, if one of them the quote goes off,
you sure which one it is?

Speaker 2 (23:18):
No, well, I don't think it's gonna be Chubb, because
my goodness, he looks in mud. Yeah, and I feel
bad even like talking bad about him.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Unfortunately, it's the way it is, right, I mean, he's
hit that point in his career.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Yeah, No, it truly is. And and I guess we
can't go without mentioning Buffalo's performance and just how darn
good Josh Allen looked against that Bye did them well,
because for as good as they looked at, their record
was the first four games of being four and oh
they weren't playing like it then, and so then it

(23:54):
caught up with them with the Patriots and the Falcons,
and now to come out and do what they did
to Carolina and to be able to do what they
did against Kansas City and Allen twenty three at twenty
six pretty darn impressive. And there's a commitment to James Cook,
something that I felt that they lost in that Atlanta game.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Well, you get Dalton kincaid back in a big way.
Hadn't been a factor since the first week of October
that game against New England where he was six for
six with one hundred and eight, then missed a couple
of games back against Carolina, but that was a laugher.
Didn't need him to do much of anything in a
forty to nine wins. So you get him back because
that's been the big question overall for Buffalo. Right, they

(24:36):
win this one, and this goes to the larger football question, like,
all right, this kind of like their Super Bowl. So
they were going to throw everything but the kitchen sink
to win this one. Kansas City as much as they
need the game, they've sunned him in the playoffs every year,
so you know all of that. But it did give
you some comfort to see the distribution, right because they

(24:58):
don't have that a one pass catcher unless we want
to call Dalton kincaide that guy, and certainly for fantasy purposes.
When we look at leagues still using a tight end position,
you can feel better. I mean six or more targets
in every healthy game except for the Carolina game.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Well, that's an interesting look at Week nine and the
Steelers going in shutting down the Colts, at least shutting
down the Colts running game with Jonathan Taylor. Daniel Jones
ended up having a an all right day, even though
he had the hat trick with the interceptions and the
turnover after turnover after turnover on offense. But if he
did play a couple of Colts at least, you know,

(25:39):
Josh Downs gotting on the end zone and Pittman and
Pierce were over one hundred yards. But the Steelers weren't
impressive statistic, you know, statistically, but they were impressive in
the win column and defense enforcing those turnovers.

Speaker 3 (25:51):
And Jalen Warren found the end zone twice, so anybody
that played him as a back end to or flex
play certainly got their win. Sixteen carries, thirty one art,
what's he go about? Five to ten, five eleven.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
A long of eight.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
I'm just doing the all right.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
If I lay him down and we do that fifteen times,
do I get to the thirty one, but the two
touchdowns all the same. The greatest stat line ever was
the first video I did. It was something called h
I was doing videos for Yahoo, but then we did
we partnered up with something called the Football Network.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
All right, it's me, It's Jerry Glanville.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
It's an odds maker and a host, and they would
bring me on and I'd do sleepers or whatever. And
at that point, Jerome Bettis was going to be more
a goal line back and complimentary guy. So I'm like,
all right, we're gonna play him. It's a big spot.
Five carries, one yard, three touchdown. That's one of the
greatest calls I've ever made in fantasy football because we
traded on that. By the end of the year, they

(26:46):
had no money because they were bidding for all sorts
of rights, and it spent a lot of legal money
to get the rights to the NFL films before the
NFL said no, no, no, we're just going.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
To launch the Football Network.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
So blank you to say, to be able to say
you have tripled the amount of touch downs as you
have yards.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
And glorious special.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
That's a stat line.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
Yeah you got And I got a chance to bring
that up to him at one point and he'll always
remember me. He's like, yeah, if I got with the
stat lines, like, yeah, one of the greatest games ever.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
Good stuff, well, how good was there stuff in guessing?
Week nine report cards coming up? Plus I'll look ahead
the week ten with some waiver wire and guys, I
actually may throw auto survivor pick. Let's go, yes, yes,
I'll tell you why. That's all next year and I
want your flex. All right, let's wrap things up here
and I want your flex. Mike's gonna have some waiver

(27:37):
wire ads. But first report card time, Mike, let's start
with you. Hot.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Week nine looks some good, some bad, some ugly. Top
five quarterbacks only one of five appeared. We had Josh
Allen in the three spot. That's where he finished for
the week. Otherwise you got an okay effort out of
Daniel Jones. Kyler Murray was one of our big picks,
and unfortunately he was a late scratch altogether. Didn't even
get him in any wildcat packages or craziness. Dak was

(28:05):
a disaster, and then Patrick Mahomes scuffling against Buffalo running
back position. McCaffrey and Jacobs did as well. As did
Kyron Williams, so we'll take some wins there. Jonathan Taylor
finished twenty eighth against Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh defense, did you just
read out the press and fantasy notes about how bad
they were and show some pride for a week. I

(28:27):
don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
No matter what, we are going to stop Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
That's it, That's all we're going to do. And then
the turnovers just piled up. Now we move on there.
Wide receiver JSN and Pukin Nakua represented well for us.
Jamar Chase Okay Daan T. Higgins was your star of
the day where shee Rice Smallish Ceedee lamb. Decent day,

(28:51):
thirteen plus points, but nothing to write home about. In
the hot plays, we'll take victories on Herbert Michael Pittman
Junior with his one hundred and fifteen yards. Matthew Stafford
had a big day, and then Marvin Harrison Junior again.
My premise was that Kyler Murray would play, didn't matter.
Jacoby Brissett made him feel loved early and off, and
then the cold soars victories for Rogers, Courtland, Sutton, b.

(29:14):
John Robinson told you not to expect greatness. He was
a back end one. Can I take a win there.
I'll take a time and then we look at the Ninja's.
Caleb Williams showed up big for us, so we'll take
a victory there. Otherwise, it was a lot of redding
for me this week. Some middling performances and things that
went a bit wonky for some of these squads.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
Well well Ian save us with any hits on streaming defenses.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
Not as big of hits as in past week. So
it was a moderate week as well. But Jaguars ended
up getting you three fantasy points. They allowed twenty nine
points on the week. They got an interception and got
two sacks against Gino Smith, but they did get that interception.
Like I said that Gino is good for every single
week it seems. But and then the forty nine ers

(30:01):
got you four fantasy points. They did allow twenty four
points on the day, but sac Jackson dart twice and
overall a decent day.

Speaker 6 (30:09):
So not bad okay, what sorry?

Speaker 2 (30:12):
In my long term league, I put an acclaim for
the Rams. Rams were available and they only gave me
five points against the Saints and Tyler Shook in his
premiere surprise.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
They were available but yeah, that absolutely.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Yeah, I was surprised as well, and so I put
a waiver claim in and thought I would make ay.
And I would have done just as well if I
would have taken your advice. Iain.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
I went and picked up the Bears in one league
and on the callbacks, right, they had two yep, two
balls late that got returned. I still want to know
how they ruled the one down by contact before the
ball's actually secured.

Speaker 4 (30:46):
But yeah, what are you gonna.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Do so with the with the Bengals, kick return count
against your defense because a few years ago, ESPN made
that change where it was normal just whatever the points
were scored in the game were against your team. So
a team could have throw, you know, four pick sixes

(31:09):
and it would end up counting against your own defense,
even though it was the offense that was giving up
the points. But now ESPN like, if there's a you know,
an interception return or something like that, it won't count
against your defense.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
Yeah, the interception return shouldn't, but the kickoff.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
And kickoff should did, okay.

Speaker 3 (31:29):
Should which reminds me DK was one of our our ninjas. Unfortunately,
I don't get the punt return for the touchdown. Unless
you have individual defense and players in your league, then
it would be an asterisk to get those points.

Speaker 5 (31:44):
Well, I was gonna say to clarify, you mean Shamira DK,
not DK Metcalf. I kept no, sorry, I kept saying
DK on the broadcast. I kept looking up whenever.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
Response, what's he doing?

Speaker 2 (31:57):
I'll tell you what the way DK metcalf has been
playing a thing. Timira is going to be the one
that should actually own.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
It the other DK from now on.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Did you see DK Metcalfs line from this past week.
I got it in front of me. Two catches six yards, Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Colts defense lou Aderuma had a good day.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
Unfortunately, you give up that many turnovers comes at you fast.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Oh man, Well, I'll tell you this. I hit on
points of palooza. Nice. I did pick Bears Bengals podcast,
so so I will take that as a win. Rams survived.
I told you to go out on if you wanted
to go out on a limb going on the Cowboys,
that would have gotten you burned. But my pick this
week was the Rams. I was I was too afraid

(32:47):
with the Packers guys, honestly because of the trap game aspect.
Of it. Big win in Pittsburgh. Next week they have
the Eagles on Monday Night Football. Here come the Panthers
to town. I think Carolina was gonna win. I did
say the Doug Gallab Show on Friday. I liked the
Carolina to cover because of how big the the spread.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
Was almost two touchdowns.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
Yeah, I was thirteen and a half.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
So we'd be remiss to not talk about Craft leaving
the game. He'll be We'll talk about that with the
waiver wire, but the quarterbacks, you know, first and foremost
with the injuries, but certainly craft losing being lost.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
That was the safety valve for Jordan Love.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Yeah, and I'm going to say something like with that
as well, because Matthew Golden had to leave the game.
Romeo Dobbs in the past has been like a question
mark on whether he's been available, but he's been available
this year. Jayden Reid's obviously been hurt and hasn't been available.
The Dantavian Wicks story, you know, like I mean, yeah,
and the story with him is just of all the

(33:49):
hype dating back to last year of what he could be.
He's injured as well. At what point, if you're Green
Bay it's just like, all right, we gotta do something
different here, you know, And maybe Matthew Golden was that
doing something different and Tucker Craft was a part of that.
But you know, this hyping up all of the different
options that Green Bay has, well, when half of them

(34:10):
aren't healthy, and when they're healthy, the other half aren't healthy,
What good is a dude?

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Jordan Love nobody left last man standing kind of situation.
No longer do we have that giant graphic with guys
with at least four hundred yards. Here's a short list
of guys that are actually available to play.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Oh man, it was one of the dumbest stats I've
ever seen, Like, who cares? That's four hundred yards? That's
gonna be our benchmark.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Well, but we had to sell how good he is
at distributing the ball, that's All's we.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Don't have a go to He doesn't have a go
to guy. He just look how good he is. And
Adepty is at checking downs.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Well, that's the thing. Like Romeo Dobbs has been his
go to guy this season, but Dobbs in the past
has had you know, trouble staying on the field. So uh, anyway,
I digress. All right before we get to Mike's waiver
wire picks on the heels of my survivor. I'm gonna
give you one for week ten, and I have to
do it, guys, because it's the Thursday night game, all right,

(35:05):
Broncos home against the Raiders, and when you look at
the slate, it's gonna be one of your biggest point spreads.
Maybe Detroit and Washington different. The only thing here is
Denver's at home Raiders. Short week on the road. I
know it's division matchup. I sometimes stay away from those.
I'm not going to do it this week. Short week

(35:26):
after having your heart ripped out against Jacksonville and not
getting the two point conversion. Tough to bounce back from.
So if you can get your early Survivor pick, I
will be in Denver for week ten.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
I like that they went for it though, Yeah, the
recognition of who and what you are, let's take a shot.

Speaker 2 (35:44):
And Jacksonville went for it on their initial drive on
fourth down instead of just kicking a field goal and
taking the lead. They're like, well, we'd rather have them
backed up and tied, you know, at the one yard
line than to kick a field goal and give them
decent field position to either tie or do it. You
know we're go and score a touchdown. So I like
both decisions by both teams in that overtime game.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
You know, I saw a tweet at the at the
end of that game saying one of the most toxic
relationships in the world is Pete Carroll and the goal line.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (36:16):
Sorry, all right now.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
I brought it up on the show. Brought because because
one of the things, here's the thing with Super Bowl
forty nine is, aside from Bill Belichick not calling time out,
which I think the Seahawks thought that he was going
to do. They saw the heavy personnel, you throw a
pass play, that's that's fine. But I also think that

(36:38):
the Seahawks had one time out left, and I think
that they wanted to have four tries at the goal.
So you had the Lynch run to the one was
the first one, and then you think I'll throw a
pass for second down. Guess what if it falls in complete.
Clock stops we still have a timeout, so we can
runner pass on third if we want to, and then

(36:58):
have a chance for the four try. I still hold
to that that that's those Pete Carroll's faulty thinking in
that point instead of just scoring. But I digress. All right,
let's get something happy like Waiver Wire. Let's see yeah yeah,
let's forget about let's forget about these crushing defeats in
all of our pasts.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
I got fifty years of it. I got a few wins.
I'm celebrating a win.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Over since the eighty five Bears and the five White Sox,
it's like, you know, well.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
Most people forget the five White Sox exists as soon
as the Cubs one day wipe that off the map
and will say this, I had a good time. Sunday afternoon,
my daughter had a soccer game, and I'm watching and
we're paying attention. And one of the dads, he's a
big Dolphins fan, so he always comes to, you know,
kind of vent a little bit, but he has his
massive ass phone. I have no idea what's what style

(37:48):
it is. But it was the final minutes of the
Bears and Bengals game. He goes, hey, we should watch.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
The end of this.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
I'm like, all right, So now we're cheering this game
and my daughter looks over, she's playing her midfield.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
Position, goes the balls out of bounds. What the hell
are you cheering?

Speaker 3 (38:02):
I'm not cheering, and then the game has like I've attention.
Now it's like you're a jerk. But anyway, let's get
to the way for wires. Let's start with a couple
of Bears. Manung Guy obviously a monster game with DeAndre
Swift down again, practiced all week and then they said

(38:23):
save him for good. We had seen Manong Guy a
couple of weeks ago with a big touch game where
he performed well. Again, hang as star on it because
it's the Cincinnati Bengals, but you know what opportunity and
power behind an offensive line that the Bears are running
out right now. I like the looks of that and
look for the more of that to happen. Stay with
the squad. Loveland had a big game. Colcomet leaves with

(38:44):
the concussion. Well, we're talking tight ends. We may need
to get in for craft, we may need to get in.
We've got what four buys this week where you're looking
at Kansas City. So Kelsey, whether you love or hate him,
is off the table. Tennessee Dallas with Ferguson and Cincinnati
no offense. I had a touchdown and look, anybody who's

(39:06):
a pass catcher, you're potentially part of the game so
long as Joe Flacco is upright and ready to go. Likewise, look,
he's a guy that I would stash right now. He's
still available in about sixty percent of leagues based on
the Yahoo notes.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
And that's Joe Flacco.

Speaker 3 (39:21):
The idea that you've got Chase and Higgins that you're
gonna keep playing the ball to and that defense ain't
getting any better. Hell, as we record this thing, we're
waiting on the trade deadline with baited breath. We have
no idea who's left who's gone from that squad as
we go the quarterback position because of all the injuries
and buys man good luck. There's not really any good

(39:43):
matchups on the board for you in terms of those
spot plays. But you've got McCarthy against a surging Baltimore defense.
He's available about two thirds of the leagues. If you
really want to roll the dice, too, is still out
there for you, as well as Gino in that Thursday.
But as Dan said, Denver's defense is just gonna crush him.

(40:04):
So yeah, I don't think you want to go down
that road. But desperation, the stinky cologne and then Brissette
against Seattle. I guess you can maybe play him as
you know your QB two or in a pinch, but
expecting any kind of heroics like you saw on Monday
Night Fools Gold, no question about it. Devin Singletary going

(40:26):
up against the Bears. For all the good things you say,
they they still get absolutely eviscerated by opposing running games
Jennings in New England. Again, that's more a stash because
we've got to see how that plays out. Because we
assume Stevenson back. You already have Henderson there, but a
guy who might have a bit of a share and
how they maybe they're judicious and they hold Stevenson back

(40:47):
another week. But either way, one of those, depending on
the roster depths that you have, maybe a guy that
you look at. Sakwad Barkley left the Eagles game for
a spell going back to week nine, expected to be back,
but tank Bigs, we had him on the list last week.
Go back out there. He's still available. About two thirds
of leagues, people aren't getting ahead of the curve. Look,

(41:07):
Philadelphia is gonna keep running the ball. I know Jalen
Hurts has had some great games and his number. What
fifteen touchdowns against one pick is fantastic, But Bigsby's a
guy that he's just your insurance card. If you're a
Saquon Barkley owner, I would be looking at him. We
don't do a ton of handcuffing anymore, but this is
one i'd look at. Isaiah Davis with the Jets. We're

(41:29):
looking at a speculative play again, whether Breise Hall is
there or not. By time, maybe you're listening to this,
the trade deadlines coming gone, and you know his fate
either way. You got a guy who's a nice number
two to bres Saw and Ian's nodding, So I think
I might have said something right there. He can elaborate
in the second, Parker Washington of Jacksonville with Travis Hunter

(41:51):
to the ir Alec Pierce. Look, he's twenty one plus
yards per catch. There's gonna be some booms. They're gonna
be some busts. He was six for one fifteen this
last time out. We take a shot there, Dalton Schultz
another guy out there, Musgrave staying with the Packers. Not
a massive target, only nine receptions for the year, but
maybe a bit more. And then back to the ground game,

(42:13):
looking at Sampson over there in Cleveland potentially with Judkins
and a shoulder that we're monitoring day to day.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Well, the bye teams for week ten, Cowboys they sure
need one, Bengals sure need one, the Chiefs after what
happened to them in Buffalo probably need one, and the
Tennessee Titans have needed one since week one. So there
are your four teams on buy in week ten, Mike
mentioned the trade deadline. We give you a midweek episode
if I want your flex, but it's not going to

(42:43):
come when it normally comes because we want to let
all the trade deadline moves make them be able to
pass by. So we'll come back later in the week
with an episode and recapping the trades. And if there
aren't any then that's fine too, but we just don't
want to miss out on anything big becase because there
have just been some reports. It's funny because for the

(43:04):
last week leading up till about Sunday, no one was available.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
Right, everything was he was at the asking price was
too high.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Yeah, yeah, no intention of moving, and we know that
that's all bs things change in the final forty eight
to seventy two hours. He because he said Jerry Jones
is telling people he's already got a deal done and
there's two others waiting, so we'll just wait till the
ends and then we'll settle it after that.

Speaker 3 (43:29):
Dude, Jerry Jones basically did that like he was a
WWE manager. I've got a surprise opponent from my big
champion over here and waiting to see who's going to
show up, and then it's you know, under the giant
in a mask. But I have no idea whether it
was just bluster or if it's more of the Jerry
Jones reality show.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
It's crazy, it really is. By the way, I do
you want your Jets to win this weekend?

Speaker 6 (43:55):
I do.

Speaker 5 (43:56):
Yeah, I'm still rooting for wins. Do I think they
will know? But but I it was good to see
them actually get one a week ago and then not
have to worry about them in the bye week because sure,
extra long week of victory.

Speaker 6 (44:10):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
But when we're talking about you know, number one overall
picks and Cleveland sitting there, they've only got two wins
on the season, I just didn't know if that was
maybe competition.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
I would still I would still pick Cleveland to win,
But you know, you never know.

Speaker 6 (44:24):
They're both terrible.

Speaker 3 (44:25):
Yeah, defense good enough to screw things up Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (44:29):
Cleveland's yes to.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
Where maybe you know, one or two plays I can
give you the balance of a game.

Speaker 5 (44:36):
Maybe I don't know, Like Cleveland has one side of
the ball that you could point to as being like
very very good, and the Jets just don't have that
at the movement.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
If Miles Garrett doesn't get traded. But that's a good.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
Point, right there, you go. I mean, we just need
the organ to come over the test the only hope.

Speaker 2 (44:54):
All right, we'll wrap this bad boy up. Any any
parting words for our week nine in the rear view
mirror looking ahead to week ten.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
We're already in the second half of the season, Fellas.
I mean, that's how fast the wheels turn on this
NFL season. And like I said at the outset, I
think there's still just a lot of teams where I'm like,
week to week, I have no idea what kind of
effort we're getting. This was a week where you know,
pride I think showed up in a number of these

(45:25):
locker rooms of you know, dismissiveness, like Indianapolis is just
going to go into Pittsburgh and roll over them. Hey,
their defense showed up, right, and Buffalo, well, I don't
know what it is against Kansas City, Well, their defense
showed up. So we'll see if there's any continuity that
flows out of that. But it's certainly been one hell
of an interesting ride week to week.

Speaker 2 (45:47):
Yeah. Absolutely, And I know I told you I picked
Denver for my Survivor pick. I'll have another one for
you on Friday, and it may be one of those
teams that you know, had something to prove a couple
of weeks ago and did it this past week. That'll
be my teas. We'll just leave it at that. So
for Ian, Roddy and Mike Carmen, I'm Dan Byert. Thanks
so much for listening. We'll be back again with another
midweek episode, and then later on of the week we'll

(46:09):
have Mike's rankings for week ten. It's all here and
I want your flax. Talk to them
