Speaker 1 (00:00):
As we always tell people, not necessarily a goal, but
like an end, like an event to train for. Nate
used hunting season as his first kind of thing, and
then now he's done some ultuers and but get out
do hard things, have something to train for, not necessarily
a goal of looking at the scale and saying, oh,
I need to be x.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
You know. Wait, by then we're not worried necessarily about that.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Is. Hey, I've got this event that I'm training for,
and I want to be the most prepared that.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
I can out here.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
The stakes are real. Effective preparation starts with fitness, but
it requires so much more. This show explores the tools, knowledge, resilience,
and skills needed to be ready when it matters the most.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Join me Rich Browning as we.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Apply the decades of wisdom I've gained through training and
competition to hunting in the back country. This is In Pursuit,
brought to you by Mount Knocks in collaboration with Mayhem Hunt.
All right, Spike Camp, Nate was here.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
It's been a while now, but yeah, July fourth, we're
now in October.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, we should bank up some bank up some videos.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
It's doing this.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yeah, we've we've been prioritizing guests, guests and hunting.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yes, we we know Nate's deal though we know them.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
You know what what I like about Nate is it's
super relatable to probably most people, where my story is
probably not as relatable at times because everybody looks at
me it's like, oh, your Fishman on Earth are former
Finishman on Earth and probably never even the true fish
man on Earth.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
It was a CrossFit definition.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Cross definition won the CrossFit Games a couple of times, right,
so that you know, makes it a little bit. People
will always use that excuse, Well, I can't be like that,
which is yes, you can. You can go work out
and do whatever, just prioritize health and fit. But I
think Nate's story is way more relatable. And that's what's

(02:05):
really cool is that, hey, you got.

Speaker 5 (02:06):
To take the first steps, right yeah, which to me
was like the biggest thing, like how what makes you
take that first step? For him was he wanted to
hunt more, which is cool, but just to have something
to work toward because it's like a hefty goal.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
He's lost a lot of weight.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Well yeah, and I think that's you know, we talk
a lot about it.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Mayhem on the other side of everybody's you know this side,
it's probably on the hunting side. But when we're talking
about the gym or the online programming is we always
tell people not necessarily a goal, but like an end,
like an event to train for. And Nate used hunting
season as his first kind of thing and then now
he's done some ultras and but get out, do hard things,

(02:47):
have something to train for, not necessarily a goal of
looking at the scale and saying, oh, I need to
be X. You know wait, by then we're not worried
necessarily about that.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Is, Hey, I'm out this event that I'm training for,
and I want to be the most prepared that I can.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah, tangible goals that you can.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Tangible goals, but not wait like I hate get so
caught up and you know, well I got to be
X or I need to look X.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
That was always one of the cool things I thought about,
like CrossFit early on, was because everybody trains, well, not everybody.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Most people train and.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Exercise to look good.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
YEA.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
For CrossFit, it was all about like performance and the
other stuff was just a byproduct.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I think it's a good perform people start working out.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Let's be honest, to look better. But then you're like, oh,
there's this cool other side of it that I had.

Speaker 5 (03:41):
Because you want it to.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I can lift a little heavier, I can do thirty
queen jerks at one thirty five for time, you know
some of the benchmark workouts, but.

Speaker 5 (03:48):
Are even working out just like that. You know, you
play basketball with somebody better than you, you're going to
get better. You do CrossFit with people better than you,
and then you just kind of start looking better too
along the way, which is always I always thought was
super cool.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah, uh yeah, but I think like the I did
tell Angela.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Who's looking a little small on the other day, probably
mess with him.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
And that beard is getting pretty ratty.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Man, that's bad. You like shape it, I thought about it.
But you can't really grow something out if you keep
trimming it. In my opinion, you can. I say, if
I don't, if I don't trim it before Thursday, and
that's it. I mean, this is what I'm gonna look
like for the next three weeks or so. So probably
what she says, she quote says, it's just a little hubie.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
I was just so.

Speaker 3 (04:39):
Curly and it's so long.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
It's just it definitely knocks down your silhouette for hunting.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
Though, ye yeah, yeah, just blend right into the tree.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
That two or three week we went on, it got
kind of went out this way. I liked it more.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Oh yeah, like it would it would, Yeah, it would
look better if it had a little bit of a
sharp line here for sure. But I I really I
don't trust myself to do it. I just haven't been
I haven't been to the barbershop.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
It's an acquired uh, it's an acquired skill. It's not
an easy thing to do because I'll like I've messed
mine up several times like this and this one will
be low.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I just I don't trust myself. Yeah, I think like
small tangible goals you can achieve, Like let's if you're
you can clean it, let's say, or it's just say
you can do one hundred air squads in five minutes,
god like doing four minutes like small, and how am
I gonna get there? Like Okay, I'm gonna do maybe
I'm gonna do twenty five or let's say I'm gonna

(05:33):
do yeah, twenty five two minutes as fast as I can.
Like you're gonna train for it, You're gonna have some
kind of uh, I know, you love this some kind
of progression to get there.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, but I I prefer the you know, and this
is this is exact cross or whatever, but it's the
the benchmarks that we have. Yeah, for people that either
start hunt or at different times of the year will
put these workouts out.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I would prefer that, and then like, yeah, twenty five squads.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
But I'm just and like from someone who's just just
getting start. But yeah, our benchmarks are specific for hunting
and specific for the people doing our programming, and we
do progressions for those like all for like six or
eight weeks. Like I'll literally just write all work out.
I'll get you workouts that will get bit you better
at this one and then the next eight weeks, and
then at the end of all of that we'll redo
it all.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
So but there is also you know, some we're not
doing progressions. We're we're yeah, we are.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Attacking different energy systems, We're attacking different movements. We're attacking
kind of the all encompassing fitness. You know, if we're
looking at it nerding out the three different energy systems,
we're looking at different movement patterns, and so if we
train in those different planes, those different movement patterns, those
different energy systems, then it will yeh.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
But and that's you know, you don't have that biology.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
You don't have to be doing Burbie box jumps every
single day or every single week. Be better at Burby box.
You just do a box jump in a workout. Yeah,
and then some burpees.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Next work Yeah.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
Speaking of Nate and Burpie box jumps, he was here.
We worked out twice. We did purpie get actually yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:02):
We did run get overs and lunging.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
I think yeah, and then one of them I think
we did uh maybe sandbag over boxes.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
He did thirty six.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
In inch on both of them on both workouts, and
he probably ended up beating me. And I was like, dude,
it was it was three feet high.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
That was so mixing. It's one thing if you need
to scale, if you need to scale to complete the
workout appropriately. It's another thing when you scale the workout
just to win. Man and we all.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Know that you get one hundred pounds bag and then
the three foot box.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
He just was like forty eight or what were you doing?

Speaker 4 (07:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (07:44):
One, the five, Yeah, I don't mess with the one, fifty.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
One fifty one, fifty rope pipe.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Yeah, snatch, maybe I don't want snatch.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, uh yeah, No, I think having Nate here was great.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
He got his got his first out. Yeah yep. The
other day he killed.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
A pretty big meal deer to yeah good, look good,
and he got the euro amount like done today.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
I think he was grinded September, Yeah, he did, looks
on it.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Speaking of that, Halffield and shot a really good deer.
It is in West Virginia'll show you he eats any picture.
He's been sending me a bunch of pictures, but I
can't tell if those are deer he's killed. He's seen
he killed. I don't. I ain't talking about that. But
he killed, he killed really good deer, and he has
a lot more on his camera. I'm like, dude, that's crazy.
Public land, yeah, public land, and then there's some private,

(08:37):
some private he uh Haley was saying. We were talking
and uh yeah, Austin skipped like four days of his
training to go hunting. And I noticed in his true
couture is nothing done. And I was like, that's all right,
I'm alright with that.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Oh yeah, that's the one he sent.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, what do he what did he say?

Speaker 5 (08:55):
He said, Uh yeah, he texted.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
He sent that picture right before he said, I need
to sign up for Mayam Hunt. I just got my
ass beat getting this deer out of the woods. I said,
what is it? A fifty pound? Fun dude?

Speaker 1 (09:10):
You guys the other day with that there, I sent
you about so really cool.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
One of our friends Sam that he's worked out here McKinny.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
His dad has a farm that they basically just built
into a deer oasis for terminally ill kids to hunt
and Wunda Betts and I think it's called buck Lake.
But we're working on maybe doing something with him in
the future. But man, he took us out there the
other day and he was gonna. I bought Lakeland a crossbow. Lakeland, Trice,
and Violet all the same crossbow to us. One one crossbow.

(09:43):
And so I'll give the whole story because it's pretty funny.
So we get I go outdoor junction get it. They
set it up for us. We just grabbed it and went.
He shot it to kind of show me, you know,
how to work it and all that stuff. And Trice mean,
it's loud, like it's not it doesn't kick. It gives
a little kick, but whatever. So Trice is already whatever.
So we get here, he shoots it and he's just

(10:05):
he was not he was just shocked, right, And how fast?
It's just fast?

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
And so.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
We've kind of got a quick turnaround, and so I'm
trying to get Lake shot a rifle. She shot my
six to five a bunch. She shot twenty two and
she knows how it works. But anyway, so I'm trying
to get her to shoot before we have about fifteen
twenty minutes. I'm like, hey, you need to shoot this
thing before we go. So we get in the stand.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
And all that.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
She's like Trice had terrified her that it was gonna kick.
So she's terrified. She won't shoot it here and I'm
trying to like, we gotta go, and so she's like,
I don't even want to kill anything. I just want
to be with you. I just want to hang out
with you. And so I'm like, all right, cool, I'm
gonna bring it just in case. I'm bring my bow.
I brought my bow as clean up duty in case
she shot something that we needed to. You know, I'm full,

(10:53):
like she can shoot. She's shot really well. She shot
that six' five really. Well you, know one hundred yards
on on just you, know driving tax and so we
get you, know he gives us the full tour where
he puts us in a, stand him and his daughter
That's lakeland's. Age she had never really gone with, him

(11:13):
had no. Interest so Since lakelan was, going she was
fired up to. Go SO, i me And lakelan are
up in this DAND i sent you guys the pictures and.
This you, know we're in a kind of a, cornfield elevated,
blind elevated blind.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Box, blind like it's a. RIFLE a lot of these
are rifle. Setups.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Right, sure you can shoot a both through, there but
it's going to take a little like. Naggling and so you,
know she first thirty minutes pretty, dead but within thirty
minutes there's deer. Everywhere dough pops. Up fun you, know
the dough works twenty yards in front of. Us So
i've got her set up And i'm, like, hey top

(11:48):
bubble because it's got thirty down to one hundred, bubbles
And i'm, like get on, there just like a, gun
pull a. Trigger so she gets it up there Or
i'm kind of holding. It i'm like you're On she's
Like i'm. On she's terrified to pull the trigger because
it's gonna. Kick and for like three or four minutes
we go back and forth and she and If doe
just feeds out of the, way and she's it wasn't

(12:12):
like a moral like she was just afraid of this
thing and so and So i'm, like don't get too.
Angry SO i she's, pissed she's mad at, herself she wouldn't,
shoot blah blah.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
Blah let's just. Go i'm gonna. Go we're not.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Leaving we've got to wait For sam AND lg and
Or scott AND. Lg and so we're sitting there and
another one comes out and it's feeding through the corn
and it like there's a stalk just you, know it's
you could have taken the. Shot but she gets up,
there gets all hyped up, again won't shoot. It granted

(12:45):
this one was like it was a little iffy and
her angle was.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
A little different than.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Mine but, anyways she you, know does it again where
it feeds off and, out and by this point there's
like twenty deer out this field and there's you, know
they're feeding in different. Ways we can't really no. Shots
but then all of a, sudden she takes the binoculars
and she's looking, around which was fun that she was
like into, it and she, goes holy, crap there's a
buck AND i, mean sure, enough two hundred yards out

(13:14):
feeding down the fence. Line at the edge of the
field there's just probably one hundred and twenty inch ten
point dark, main dark dark, antlers and then on the.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Backside there's a tall. Eight so we're on dough.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Duty so and the whole Time i've been Telling sam
kind Of he's, like keep me posting what you guys.
SEE i, mean we saw twenty. TURKEYS i sent you
guys a. Video there were six dos in this. Field
there's a green field up top that you could see
another six dose that had fed, out another six had replaced.
Them they're, everywhere and so you, KNOW i told them all,
this and all of a, SUDDEN i, said.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Pretty good, buck probably one hundred and.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Twenty i'm not great at you, know the, numbers but
it was a good.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Buck, Yeah and, uh you, know it's feeding to us real,
slow it's.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
Starting we were about thirty minutes of, LIGHT i think
is WHEN i text you guys AND i can just
see him and he would kind of go into the
woods and, out like you, know.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Not in the, woods but but the.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Way the canopy, WAS i couldn't see, him and so,
she's you, know getting worked, up And i'm kind of.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Like, see can we shoot this? Thing and SO i.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Texted him, like, hey it's it's. Coming it's going to
be questionable if if you, know it makes it in.
Time what do you mean to tell? Her he's, like
let her have some, fun let it. Rip and So
i'm she's fired. Up she's like And i'm, like, hey you,
know how do he shot a crossbow?

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Before it's?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Fine and she's, like, okay you, Know and So i'm
just trying, to, like you, know fire her. Up i'm
a couple of Times i'm, like are you gonna? Shoot she's,
Like i'm. Good if this thing, Comes i'm. Shooting cause it.
Was she was fired. Up so he's coming to, us
and FINALLY i can see his feet underneath the. Canopy
so he's at least sixty seventy. Yards all of a,

(14:51):
sudden coyote starts yapping behind us in the. Woods he
starts sprinting towards. Us i'm, like get ready to get.
Ready if he's crosses in front of something and.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Stop.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Stop he does this and then cuts out of forty
five and just out of our. Lives and she was fired.
Up and then probably two or three minutes after, that
she sits.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Down she's, like, man.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Why's my head? Hurt it's like that's called me like adrenaline,
dump you. Know and so it was cool to see.
Her she was fired up about that whole. Encounter but,
man she.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Wants to go. Back oh, yeah it was it just to.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
You it's just us.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Too it hurt me to like. IT i was more
fired up for her Than i've ever, been which was
cool to. See and she, was she was, excited but,
man it. Hurt So sam's, dad what's his, Name Scott.
Scott so he's a past past baptist in. Town and
then they him AND i guess two or three guys have.

Speaker 5 (15:41):
This, yeah he says like fifteen eighteen. Hundred but, man
they've got still.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Food plots on food plots on food plots on just
cleared and it's it's.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Great it, looked it looked.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
Great so what he said was they find the basically
terminally ill, kids.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
Bring them on a dream, hunt and then.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
It it does two.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
Things he, said it opens the door to share the
gospel with the family and the kid or if anything,
else like they have even went back to attend the
funerals and everything of these kids to be able to
like minister to the, families which that was one of
the things he. Said they which is why he asked,
us because they need help finding.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
More kids to the, guides you, know with any guides
that they. Kids and then eventually they need a lodge
out there because right now it's just a bunch of.
Campers he calls it The redneck, village but they've got
a cool spot that you eventually could have a lodge
out there because a lot of these kids are either
wheelchair ridden or you, know they need a place that

(16:45):
the kids can kind of.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Said they have a, gun are numerous, ones so he
holds it and basically there's different ways for the kid
to trigger, it whether it's someone into it or. Something
and he's, like, dude it's the most most stressed full
thing because you're just holding.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
It, yeah, Surprise, yeah it goes oh, yeah you're holding.
It and then they're, like, Okay i'm on. It do
they Know i'm on? It and then blowing you're, like oh.

Speaker 5 (17:11):
God HERE i, go, HERE i.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Go zoe's dad owns a piece of property like, that
and there's a guy who is in a wheelchair who hunts,
there and he shot the state record off of the
property before because it's literally he, like, well he's a,
farmer so we like. Farms it's like fifty. Acres he farms.
IT i Think i'm not shut exactly, sure but he
farms this plot of land as if he would his

(17:35):
bean in. Cornfields and literally it's just for. Hunting they
call it like the deer. Sanctuary, like so he goes
out there and he kills like one hundred and seventy
hundred and eighty inch deer every.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Year he's got some big deer. Here he told us the.
Story there was a vet maybe a year or two
years ago that basically told, him SO i WAS i
was gonna take this hunting trip and then take my own,
life and like basically saved his life by. Him he's, like,

(18:05):
man it's the coolest. Thing you sitting in deer stand
with this guy for however many hours and you can
just ask questions and they start opening up to things
and you're able to speak into their. Life or you
wouldn't have a chance otherwise because it's like there's nothing
else to.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Do, yeah you're just literally sitting.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
There and the guy told like told him it's, like,
hey this was gonna be my last. Trip, wow but it's.
Not now that's pretty.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
Awesome it's a really, cool powerful.

Speaker 1 (18:28):
Thing just shows you what you know you can do
and what you can kind of how you can connect.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
With people Over, yeah how long has he had that?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Spot?

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Like and what a couple of?

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Years and they just keep adding on and adding on
and get more next to. It and THEN i think
last year they finally got their five oho one where
it's full. Nonprofit that's cool and it's a it's a cool.
Spot and then we met a guy out, There greg
that he just volunteers out. There he's retired and helped
the plant stuff and hangs out and he was out
there killing trying to kill coyotes and they said they've

(19:00):
killed a bunch of, coyotes, skunks armadillos and whatever this.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Do turkeys there was we saw like eight gaggles of twenty.
Turkeys it was.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Crazy oh that's. Cool what did YOU i, mean have
you talked to him at? All like what his like.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
They want to be able to hunt every weekend of
hunting season and want to have that Many.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Yeah like what what made him want through? This just
because he is a.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Pastor he loves hunting and you know.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
MIXED i think sees the bridge and you know that's
his kind Of they've been doing a lot of, missions
which it's pretty.

Speaker 2 (19:36):
Cool so that is. Cool, yeah so we'll do that.
Tomorrow you, going you And. Ji, Yeah i'm gonna bring the,
cross BUT i don't Think trice will shoot, it But
i'm gonna bring my.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Bow is just me think to, you you And trice this?

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Time, yeah and then him AND i THINK i Think
watkins is gonna Go ben and Then. Jack, okay so
He sam was Or scott was, like we can probably
house eight to ten.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Shooters that's. Cool there's does. Everywhere probably put you And
jai in a, stand me In, trice and.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
THEN i think one of his buddies is gonna come
just hang, out and then then we can spread them
out As jack.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
HUNTED i Mean.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Jack's hunted here saw some do the other.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
NIGHT i moved me And trice move cameras around yesterday
just to see.

Speaker 3 (20:17):

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Mean, yeah or that second. Week good.

Speaker 5 (22:47):
THING i got the cameras work in this past. WEEKEND
i got nothing after that. After it's a quick, trip
so we could just go.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Up, yeah it is easy to get, there and, yeah
you can go up just whenever you see the. Weather
it you just.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Have we that's me And mica Sat sunday morning And sunday.
Afternoon sunday morning we saw twenty nine dos one spike

Speaker 5 (23:15):
Uh sunday afternoon they both.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Came you guys just sitting up. Blind, yeah well put
a ten.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
Out but it's on a, levee so it's elevated where
he shoots.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Down it's a pretty good, setup.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Same setup That i've seen out.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
There, no That's sunday. NIGHT i, said look we're because
we were coming home that. NIGHT i, said if we're
gonna shoot something that's gonna be, worse and we can
always come back shoot a Dough, so.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Well how do dough tags? Work?

Speaker 4 (23:42):
There you get, One you get, one do tang one? Time,
yeah it's.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Crazy.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah then you get a shotgun tag too if you're
a residant, though no.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
Anybody oh, really you got to put in.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
For a lot of but, okay, yeah but then the
residents get. One but you put in a lot Of.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
Yeah, residents residents can get, two.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
Okayacks yeah that was for way.

Speaker 5 (24:07):
Cheaper, really, YEAH i think it's like twenty.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Bucks it's like three. Hundred.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
Gosh speaking of The Colorado, hunt we talked last podcast
about getting your uncle. Ready talk a little bit about
how we're Preparing Mike Watkins.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Walkins walkins his late ad to the, trip.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
And it's his First western. Hunt he's not, hunting but
his first time.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Expence He's Matt. Schrpa actually that's what we're gonna call.
Him uh, YEAH i Mean watkins works out just as
much as anybody at this table or, yeah and he
uh he loves that. Staremaster so it's gonna be. Interesting
the funny thing, was so he staremasters pretty regularly without
a rock or without a, vest so he slowly started

(24:55):
adding some, weight mixing up some.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Days i've been doing the same thing.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Too i'm getting ready for my kind of last CrossFit
event of the, season me and me And dre and
Then austin And, darren Which austin And darren will be in.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Town we should take them.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Tomorrow oh and at Least Austin aaron's been around, hunting
but The, Yeah So i'm kind of doing a congruent training.
Track So i've been starting every morning with thirty to
forty minutes on the, StairMaster and then alternating some days
with a ruck and or with a plate carrier and

(25:33):
some days without trying to go a little bit. Faster
so like this, MORNING i did thirty thirty five minutes
without a plate carrier and just try to go for
like at eleven and the whole thirty five, minutes and
then on days WHEN i do the plate carry it's
like eight or, nine.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
And just kind of settle.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
In, oh with the plate, carryer you don't you're not at.

Speaker 1 (25:50):
Eleven, no without a plate carrier at, eleven which is
it's still Pretty.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
The steppers numbers are a little different than the tread.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Pattern, no it's.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Similar it's the tread the tread on the step StairMaster
is a little taller with the steppers a little or
the rise over the run.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Is a little bit.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Different, yeah and so uh but IT'S i, mean it's
just a quick It's i'd say the speeds are pretty
pretty pretty.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Close to the same.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Thing So i've been doing. That watkins has been doing.
That But, WATKINS i Think watkins will be. Fine he,
traveled especially If. BILLINGS i keep trying to Tell, Billings i'm, like,
hey just come over for thirty minutes a day and
hop on the, stepper just thirty.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Minutes and he's not been.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Once So watkins has been doing an hour a.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Day, yeah and then he.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Stepped on his travel To. Indianapolis he sent a video
of him on The this was pretty. Funny he was,
LIKE i was on THE i put the, treadmill maxed it,
out and THEN i could only go like a three
before my calves would just get my calves, in my
back would get. TIGHT i was, Like, wawkins that's exactly
what it's gonna feel like out, there because it's like.

(26:59):
This the StairMaster is a or, stepper whatever you want
to call it is good, prep but it is not the.
SAME i would say a heavy sled or a moderate
sled is, better better. Prep it's just, boring just pushing
the thing back and. Forth but him on the actually
probably a treadmill maxed out. Steep it's pretty close to.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
That's where if you don't have the treadmill. BURDEN i
talked about, this and we were In. Leadville you could
put literally like one plate on the sled and pull
it behind you and just do it for a.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Long long freaking.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
Time and IF i mean if you have in your
yard or a long driveway or, something you could just
go up and, back up and. Back it was, like
describe his body shape for those who don't, know because
he is not a pre disposition to being good in the.

Speaker 2 (27:48):
Mountain he's got a torso like probably if we're to
like proportion, wise his torso is, yeah his torso is
probably six foot in his legs are probably what four eight.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
Yeah, yeah he's not perfectly built for the.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Mountains, No and he's a.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
Square like you look at, him he's almost a perfect.
Square so it's a good.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Test him And scott beside side by side will be
a pretty fun hard same.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Species.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
Yeah, yeah have we broken down like the groups will
be in when we? Hunt, no not.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
Really and that's and so it's funny my Cousin, ashton
who does He.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
So my, uncle my Uncle, bill he's.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
My my mom's oldest sister's. Husband so he's been in my,
life our whole. Life and he's, like he's one of
those uncles that you're terrified of until you get older
and you're, like, oh it wasn't that. Bad but like
when you stayed at his, house you get up at five,
am we cut. Wood it was at one time one

(28:50):
of my cousins was they had a little just recurve kid's,
bow but it had some juice on, it and one
of my cousins jumped in front of, it and so
he walks, over hicks the, bow snaps it on his,
knee lines us all up on the, sidewalk and kicks
us all in the ass one time as he goes.
By and so that's like a core memory Of Uncle.
Bill and and so he's, like now that a Like

(29:13):
I'M i. Hunt we have this like common, connection and
so all my cousins joke like you have to like
have a connection With bill for him to talk to.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
You so now he'll just like come up and.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
Talk So bill's. Awesome so he's got his two of
his sons are gonna. Come he's got three. Sons two
of his sons are gonna. Come, harrison who's my oldest
cousin early, forties and Then, ashton who's two years younger than.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Me And.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Ashton harrison hunts a lot and he's the private security
for The DeVos, family But ashton doesn't hunt insurance. Salesman
that's WHY i put that on that text. Group and,
uh but we'll go on adventures and is he's gone
With bill. Hunting but we'll have to Have bill tell the.

(29:56):
STORY i Guess ashton. Built they had this Old farmhoffs
they would stay in when they In, idaho And ashton
built a fire in there and like just burn him
out of the. House he said it was one hundred
and fifty degrees in this. House So bill slept in the.
Truck and you just have those two going at each
other because they're complete. Opposites it's. Hilarious and So ashton's.

(30:17):
Coming so he texts, Me he's like, Hey he's, like you,
know first of, all what what camo DO i need to?
Buy you, know you, know If i'm on camera, Whatever
AND i was, like don't worry about. It i've got
SOME i, said if you want to buy some, solids you,
know obviously we use first light and you know this
is you don't need camo per. Se But i've got

(30:38):
some extra stuff you can where you're gonna need some
rain gears just in. Case AND i sent him kind
of what the terrain looks like because he was, Like,
hey are we gonna be sitting the whole?

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Time BECAUSE i get really bored because apparently when they would,
Sit ashton would just go off by himself and like
he sent me videos Of elk And bill would be somewhere,
else and SO, i you, Know he's, like what are
we gonna? Do AND i kind of. EXPLAINED i, said
we'll be in. GROUPS i, said we might be in
a big.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Group we might split up into three, groups we might
split into two.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
GROUPS i don't really. Know we'll Glass we'll get some you,
know eyes On.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Country kind of explained to him and he, said he,
goes that looks awesome BECAUSE i sent him a. Video he,
said do you guys think we'll stalk. Much he, said
WHEN i was with, dad last, time we did some
and it was. Awesome sitting for hours. Suck he, said
last time they sat for eight, hours.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
And he said it was pure.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
TORTURE i, said we with this, group we will Not
there will be a group that may sit for that.
Long with this, group we will not sit for eight.
Hours and he said that sounds awesome because he was,
LIKE i can't sit for eight.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Hours so to answer.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Your, question, well we might get in. Groups he, said
his dad can go pretty. Well he, said it's when you,
know blow down patches and, stuff WHICH i, was nobody
likes blowdown.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Patches SO i told him there's not a ton in
rifle season that we'll be going through unless we're trying
to close in or unless trying to get something. Out
but at that point we can help help build with.

Speaker 6 (31:55):
That, so, well the worst part of that property with rifle,
season you can shoot into. It, yeah so recovering an,
animal but you're not gonna have to deal with.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
It, Right that's and that's kind of WHAT i told.
HIM i, Said, well we're just you, know trying to
get eyes on. Something BUT i definitely have FOUND i
pulled my spotting. Scope do you have the mounth that
goes on there for the.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Phone i'll have to.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Check we need to need to get one or two of.
Those But i've got that sig. One we got to
go shoot that rifle On. MONDAY i THINK i need
to see if out seven bigger.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Buyos so the rifle you're shooting on that hunt is
a new sig.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
Rifle, yeah it's a seven MIL.

Speaker 1 (32:31):
Prc it's the carbon fiber, barrel so it's a little
bit lighter than that three hundred wind. Bag and THEN
i was looking at the ballistics of THAT prc and
it's better than the three. Hundred, really it doesn't have
as much fall.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Off, yeah the seven Milimeter i've. HEARD i don't research
ballistics that, much BUT i do know that THEY'RE i
do know that they're like a lot of people are
going to that for long range just because of how
much power it keeps out keeps that. Ranges so we're.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Gonna go to that dead dead zero.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
Spencer this.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
Week get that.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Thing how far is it ranging?

Speaker 2 (33:05):
THERE i think thousand?

Speaker 3 (33:07):
Yard that's.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Cool we need to put some targets up here up
to like three or four hundred yards just to like get,
reps BECAUSE i that's the hard, part.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
MAN I i.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
Love shooting my bow AND i do way better AND
i don't do a, good good enough job with the
rifle of. Shooting And i'm gonna take that six five
and make sure it's all good to go. To are
they are we gonna shoot sigamo or are we getting our?

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Own?

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Ammo it's up to. You you don't have to having
the SEVEN milli.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yet, yeah we can get some are, yeah any of those? Suppressed,
YES i have a suppressor on the YOU'RE i have
one suppressor for and it goes up to a rifle
right for Three, yeah it goes up to three.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Hundred it was a three hundred and then down to
the six, Five SO i use them on. Both.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
Cool all, right that's.

Speaker 6 (33:56):
Cool we'll have a couple of podcasts with hopefully do
one with your uncle and hopefully do one With.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Curtis oh, yeah, yeah we definitely need to take that. Rightlier,
yeah we'll Have thursday. Night we'll get There thursday. Nights
we'll Have, friday do Some Saturday sunday.

Speaker 4 (34:10):
Too even Ye billings And, Watkins, Oh billings And watkins
would be.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
A good one after like after a day of hunting, though, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
We might need to get like two days With watkins
After watkins has been using that, yeah the sportsman, pack, yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
And just putting a plate on.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
It AND i think he's getting too caught up in
like you need to be able to carry twenty.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Pounds he did twenty, Five, yes for a long.

Speaker 3 (34:35):
Time that's like he's caring pack.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Out he did fifty five the other. Day pack out
his pack, out, right but it's Not, yeah it's not. Forever, No,
yeah this kind of where you pack.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
This day pack and just just kind.

Speaker 6 (34:47):
Of you're not having to carry camp or.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Anything how far do you carry the fifty five pound?

Speaker 4 (34:50):
Plate twenty? Minutes maybe, sucks BUT i.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
Do it's pretty.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Slow it's like five.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
SPEED i do like the train with a little more
weight so that WHEN i get that pack on me all,
day it feels.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
LIKE i don't mind the twenty BECAUSE i like the
vest because you, know you got your buy no, harness
you got all that stuff on the, front and SO
i like the and that New Rogue echo plate carriers
pretty see it's orange.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Too say, yeah that's that's. Nice that's nice to. Safe
you want to shoot you in your barn on the, stairs, yes, Right, Trice,
yeah well we.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Know he won't touch that freaking. Crossbow he's, terrified terrified of.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
It we'll. See But violet will shoot. It she was,
like let me shoot.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
It So trice didn't shoot it even.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Here trice won't shoot it. Now violet and fight for
bull shot it yesterday and both of them. Drilled the.
Dice can't shoot it in the deer goes.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Straight.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Deer, well it's got a bunch of weak points in
it from being. Shot SO i bought a dice for.
Travel and you know.

Speaker 3 (35:55):
Those dice are so. Nice THEY i think they're the
best for your buck when on.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Target anything, Else, scott all, Right Spike camp and we
gotta pisode number Something. November we gotta get a bunch
