Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. It's everybody, welcome back to Inside Garage podcast.
I'm colleague'll tune along with Kea Ji and Wallace, Conrad
Agan and Cam Hart. And it's my first first podcast
(00:21):
physically in the garage and a few months so feel
it feels good to be back in my home seat.
Does it feel better? Yeah? Definitely, definitely easier. I like
that was he was out of here. Yeah. And then
when I would get off, yeah, when I when I
would get off the podcast after we did it over
zoom or whatever, I would just hang up and I'm
(00:43):
just sitting there like yeah, like they're about to go
like upstairs and like chill on the couch and I'm
just gonna go back to play MPs five. But no,
it's good to be back and spend a minute. So
let's do a little icebreaker icebreaker childhood crush. You can
go around like like celebrity Yeah, um oh man, she's
(01:05):
I might be tripping, but like Hannah Montana, it's not
true like the movie but like the movie, yeah, not
that episode like when she was mildly you know what
I'm saying. I'm say London Tip Tippton Brenda's song. Yeah,
that's right valid from What is The Sweet Life? And
Jack and Cody? Yeah, yeah, yeah, what was the show?
(01:28):
I was like eight year old camp just looking at TV.
Look definitely past the place that got actually called the
Victoria Victorious Victoria's Justice. Yeah she was. That's a dopast name. Yeah,
she's money. She was when I was eight. Um, I
(01:53):
want to say Selena Gomez m m yeah was there.
She like carried herself in a very like like I'm
on that girl away and I respected that year old
as an eight year old. I just had so much
respect for her in the wishes carried herself. You thought
all that through, You thought you're sitting there watching like
(02:15):
I love the wish carry. I think that's actually how
I was thinking year before your tign there bro. So yeah,
we got that out the way. Uh spring ball springboll
started up what the middle last week. There's actually one
player in the house playing football right now. The one
(02:37):
player now is actually played up to you right now,
So you gotta go for stock first impression. Ins who
surprised you the first? Yeah? So the first spring ball
practice Thursday, Sat. Patty's Day, it was a good practices,
like you know, officially coach Freeman's like taking over as
the head coach, like, you know, his team is that whatever.
I'm into the new year. So it was good, but
(02:58):
honestly it was it was It was pretty much the same.
It wasn't as it came. You know, like all the
meetings and everything was pretty much the sane. The schedule
is pretty much the same. I think he wanted it
to keep like that. So no one really, you know,
it was too nervous to have like anxiety. It was
team meeting as team meeting and then practice and practices
eighteen periods and you know, you kind of shake the
rust off a little bit, like getting back in the
(03:18):
football shape and all that um. But it was you know,
competitive with coach Freeman. So and then we'll put pads
on Tuesday, I believe, and then we'll start scrimmaging soon.
So it's been good and it's been tough because he
likes the scrimmage a lot um, but that's how you
get better. So and the coaches. So I'll talk to
the Seers coach coach Ducky. Definitely love coach Ducky. He
(03:38):
really knows his stuff. He played at Clemson Lay in
the NFL. I believe for a couple of years. Great guy.
The whole offensive staff is you know there, it's like
it's a younger staff, I would say, and everyone has
meshed really well together. Um so far in the first
cold practice if you want to talk about the defense there,
like I'm not practicing where not because I had the
shoulder thing. But from my point of view, I think
(04:02):
like just talking to everybody, like even talking to like
sophomores now and comparing it to their freshman year a
lot of like the moral is different because I think,
like these coaches their whole philosophies energy, energy, energy, and
be contagious about that. So like even with the like
st meeting starting with Coach Mason, like, um, his whole
things like wake up, like get up your genergy right,
(04:24):
And I think that like plays on the rest of
the day, the rest of the practice. So that's something
that I've appreciate. Um, I think the most as far
as new coaches, because my coaches coach making. He's not
he's not gonna change, he's never. But um, as far
as new coach, I would say, Coach mas like he
coaches well. He helps out with the cornerbacks and the
Nichols and then his whole like approach to the ST
(04:47):
meetings in this coaching unit is um a lot different
than what I'm used to, and I think I've appreciate
that the most. That's probably the most that I can
participate during ST meetings because cornerback meetings, like it's just
like everything that we've already known. Obviously we don't have
to adjust to a new coach, but the um MR
this a whole new energy, a whole new like she
(05:08):
is very true. The energy is way different. Like the
meetings like the rooins right next to the running back
room and you can hear coach for cola like yelling,
not like angry, but he's just like very animated, and
it's like everyone throughout the whole Google is like that.
So you can't walk out of the meeting like the
Jews for practice stuff. And it's like, I don't know
if this is like coaching style Coach Kelly versus Coach Freeman,
but like I feel like if I was, if I
(05:31):
was practicing right now, the stress level will be a
lot low. That's just because of that whole morals inside
the Google. Is that what would y'all say is the
biggest difference between last spring and spring. I would say that, like, um,
obviously we're coming into the Google handle handling business, and
everybody knows like it's a time to be serious and
it's time to enjoy each other. I think last last
(05:52):
spring or yeah, last spring, that wasn't really that time
to like, Okay, let's enjoy each other. Let's dude, this
has a family. And I think that's more so now
because we have new coaches and a lot of new players,
so they're like, Okay, let's let's understand each other better,
let's create this family. We didn't have to do that
last year. So I think just that added, like I said,
(06:13):
to obtain this makes it a lot better. Um, so
I'll probably say that and this thing, people are just younger,
honestly at older or maybe I'm motored, I don't know.
I don't know. It's just like the whole vibe is different.
And then for me, I'm watching it from the outside perspective,
I'm not like actually in it, so I can see
a lot more than especially, you know, you can get
(06:33):
mundane when when you're in it you're practicing waking up everything.
I'm doing everything they're doing I'm just not practicing, so
I can see a lot more from outside perspective. Fan,
are you liking the pit practicing? Yeah? And the pit
for everybody that's listening, it's just like other practicing. I'm
just working out on a full workout on the side,
but I'm seeing a lot more and I don't know,
just more deservant. I guess would y'all say like this next?
(06:56):
I guess era not in football is like I don't
want one when this come off in a bad way,
But it's like experimental because I feel like Notre Dame
has never had this kind of staff, like where it's young,
and I feel like that's the whole landscape of college
even NFL football right now with like Matta and Cliff Kingsbury,
like younger guys getting head coaching jobs that it's usually
like in the nineties early two thousands, it's like fIF
(07:19):
year old dudes who just very blue collar and uh
not to say that, like it's like it's softer. But
at the same time, even throughout college with Lincoln Riley
Kirby smart still on the younger side, um like Nick
Saban's really only like old, really established coach. I mean
coach Kelly too. But but I mean it seems like
everybody in football is like getting younger. Do you think
(07:40):
Notre Dame is doing this to kind of like stick
with the times? I think, yeah, I think I agree
with you. I think the trend is going younger. And um,
I think, yeah, I agree with the experimental dam because
her name has never seen a staff like this or
this morale. And you can back me up like probably
since the program like this just a whole you kind
(08:01):
of generational football, I think, And I think it goes
hand in hand with the whole in I Yellow trans
Report and just everything that's going on in C double A.
But yeah, I agree with that. I think it's just
the way the entire game of football is going. It's
like it's no longer the go in the weight room
like bench squad. You know, Hi, It's not like this
the brute force anymore. It's you know what I'm saying,
(08:22):
Like it's all about like gain y edge with like
the GPS or rings, like the like everything else around it.
And I think like with that becomes like the analytical
approach to football, which is coming from like the younger more.
I mean, we have a defensive coach. But like the
floors the McBay right, I think it's the entire of
the way the game's going, everyone trying to gain the
(08:43):
edge somewhere or the other, like outside of the usual.
So I think it's just getting younger in that sense,
you know, because everything new, and to think, like people
say that football is like gunning soft. I hate when
people say that because like it hasn't gotten soft, it's
just gotten smarter, like better. Yeah, Like you can't play
the same way, Like there's pictures of dudes like playing
without cleats or playing without cleets like fifty years ago,
(09:06):
smoking cigarettes in the locker room, Like you will play
the same football that we did, and like things have changed,
like people are gonna change. And I feel like football
like like basketball has changed, Like there's more three shot
now than like ever, and like but back then, dudes
are wearing converse and shooting midranges, Like you can't just
approach the same, Like the game's gonna change. Going off that,
like it just shows how much more exciting sports is getting. Yeah,
(09:29):
I think, um just as a whole, sports is getting
more exciting, even just watching this Super Bowl, like this
year's Super Bowl I'm just kind of thinking about like
the game felt like you can like feel the energy
in the game because it was really young, Like it's
just Joe Burrow Higgins jamaar Ches running around. See it's
just like it's like dudes are moving fast like people are.
(09:50):
It's like really decisive. It's more clean, like it's more
I don't know, I like it. I love you're maximizing
their potential. Like Tim Brown, she ever know the Dame
shoulder pants are like three times Like that's like like
he he definitely way bigger and he's got to make
the same catch that she was not. I like the
(10:13):
way the game is definitely interested. Like when talking to
your dad and he's like, we had two days and
then we would go and like squad as heavy as
we can and bench as heavy as we can and
then go out and practice again like d but at
the same time, it's that's just not conducive for like
healthy team. Yeah, and he's so mad he talks about
(10:34):
that bro, because he's like we we lost, Like there's
a big game they lost, but lou Holds had him.
I think it's like Miami or something, and they were
the better team, but they were exhausted on game day because,
like you said, Lou Holds had him like, oh, yeah,
we're gonna do two days this week in season because
because yeah, well and they're like and they're like and
they're like November, bro, Like yeah, he was like, we
(10:57):
would have won the game, but were too tired, like
everyone to beat down and like our parents age and
like older, they're like, you guys just soft. That's exactly.
That's like, how can we change that? Like I'm not
gonna I'm not gonna go, but it's still like put
two days in and make us work out and extend
the hours and make us like I can't do anything
about that, And I don't know. It's kind of weird
(11:19):
having that conversation because like, you your new generation, you're
you're all getting weaker, you're all getting softer, and like,
what exactly can I do to change the platform of
how we're living? Right? I feel like technology wise, everything,
I feel like they I think when they think of
getting softer, they think of getting softer like physically, but
I think the game's harder mentally now. It's harder because
(11:41):
I feel like there's so much more now that happens
pre snap and that happens with like tendencies and and
like things that teams do, especially offenses and concepts and
things like that that just didn't happen years ago. It's
just like running the ball sixty plays a game. It's
(12:02):
Notre Dame team had to defend the r p O
like their brains were explode like they would have They
can run past and like past the run the ball
like up the middle, like they wouldn't compend that they're
just running triple options. Okay, well, apologize for any former
dirty Yeah, but there's a good conversation we can have
later on with who we're having coming on the show.
(12:22):
But still like that's his honesty. Like think about like
the flood concept out of like trips or something like that,
versus like, yeah, it would be crazy, like if in
five somebody's triple option just spread out to like a
duo set with shotgun, They'll be like, bro, is this legal?
(12:43):
Like but I was I was gonna circle back to
the like coaches being younger, like how it's relevant today
because I feel like kind of and this may kind
of seem like things are getting soft through, but like
kids coming in, I feel like it's with the trans
report and all that stuff, like an eye and everything.
(13:05):
I feel like it's tougher for a certain type of
coach to coach kids coming in and guys some not
at most. I'm just saying like a few people will
have trouble with that and like saying like, oh, he's
doesn't like me, I need to transfer like immediately, just
because that's the norm now. So I also feel like
that may help and like getting recruits and keeping people here.
(13:27):
That kind of goes hand in hand with Colin was
saying when we were at his house. Um, when you're
saying like you can't put a like an old Sudden
coach on the West coach and expect them to do
well with all those kids. And sometimes I even feel like,
you know, like this is getting really fast, like in
high school, like people are committing to high schools down
and like people are committing the high schools now and
(13:50):
what we have a whole podcast how setting it's just
getting like all the technology that's going into high school sports,
all the analysts and there's like people that's getting paid
literally just to follow high school athletes. That's crazy since
that's been around, since that's been around for a while,
but like it's getting worse. It's getting worse. A basketball
(14:10):
is horrible. Yeah, and from such a young age to
like I'm saying like like that, cannot let him play kid,
he's like ten years old. Just let him go play
outside and play tag or song. That's crazy like that
just for a certain age of the young age, we
always kind of knew, like I wanted to play college football.
I want to go to the league. Like that was
(14:30):
you know what I'm saying, Like when did you start
thinking of when you were like e like years So
it's just like so it's just like but never know
way I mean, I'm joking out. Yeah, we're just doing
(14:53):
kids stuff still though, but like I kind of new
in the back guy you wanted what you wanted to do.
But like like Tanna eleven years o out, so I
played basketball every day, Like you know, there's a time
place for everything. And like when we're in high school,
we want to play as mini sports as possible. And
like there's kids going to this high school. Well I
did the same thing. I went to high school play football,
but it was a critical but I played multiple sports.
(15:18):
But there's kids going to certain high school focusing on
football all year round, focused on basketball all year round,
and their whole objective is not to go to high
school and have a high school experience and meet people
and have a good time. Let's go to high school
to catapult me as far as I kid in football.
That's why I had no offense to the people who
went there. But like I am G Like, I feel
like that's like the worst thing you can do to kids,
(15:40):
sending him there at like fifteen, you don't get to
experience any of your high school experience to make friends
at home. And like if you if you're that good
to get recruited, you can get recruited at like a
middle network school. They'll find you. Almost felt in that trap.
I remember that, Yeah, I almost what IMG because I
felt like, um, first of all, I was getting kind
of frustrated with my high schools situation, Like I love,
(16:01):
I love socially like where I grew up, like everything,
Like you know, I love, I love when school, I
love or whatever. But I was kind of frustrated because
I was like, I really wanted to win games, like
and we weren't. Really we always get into the second
round of playoffs. You weren't, you were I'm saying it
get past it. And it was just kind of like
I wanted to win games and I kind of wanted
to experience like winning the championship type thing. I almost
went to MG like I want to visit everything. Yeah,
(16:24):
And I was like sitting on the plane and I'm
like I'm playing right back to Atlanta. I was like yeah.
I was like, yeah, I want to do it. Whatever.
My dad was cool that. My mom was just like,
you do not want to do this? Yeah, she that
was the best thing she's ever told me because I
was just like just taking you more better things, you know,
like in that situation, that was the best thing she
(16:45):
could I didn't say that right. That was the best
thing she could have told me in that situation because, um,
like my senior year I had that was the most
fun I've had, like in high school. It was just
like last time being at home, like last time seeing
really being around people. And I'm saying, like limiting yourself
in your community. So I think it's a really important
conversation to have with like young people because you should
(17:07):
play as many sports as you want, and then you
should amuse many people as like you want to meet
because at the end of the day. Sports is not everything,
and at some point it's gonna end. And like people
that specialize in basketball, football, baseball are more prone to
being burnt out away quicker. And so like, let's say
it doesn't work out, and you're like you a failure,
(17:27):
Like I'm a failure, Like it didn't work out. I know,
I don't I don't really have many friends like I.
I you know, like it's it's only as good for
your mental weight online and maybe it works out right,
but it's rare that it works out to the extent
that you have if you specialize in it from like
a very young age, and then there's obviously a time
place you get to college and you're we do this
(17:47):
twenty first seven. So it's been if any, if if
any young high schooler is listening right now, spend your
high school, play as many sports, meeting, meet as many
people be a high school or do something, do something,
get grounded a little basis for you kind of callus
(18:08):
like figure yourself out, like do some different stuff, you know,
to understand what you like, what you don't like you
and even like in college, like we love we all
love football, and like it's got gotten us to this point,
like we put so much into it because how much
we care for and then at the same time, it's
like you have to have something else outside of football
or else you're gonna drive yourself crazy. Even like in
college obviously it's not a different sport, like if it's
(18:29):
like going to hang out with friends, like maybe like reading,
like fishing, whatever it is, you have to do something
outside of football, and it's just like have a one
lane street that you're going down. I think the misconception
a lot of people have is if I'm doing other things,
I'm not focused on this thing. But it's like you
just gotta find that right balance. Like if you if
you're like all right, every day I just put an
(18:49):
hour towards football, I mean you go to sleep for
your sleep for eight, there's nine, So there's more hours
of the day, Like there's so many, so many more
hours a day like do other stuff. If you put
an hour a day, you still getting better every day.
You still in college, like we put five hours to it,
so there's still nineteen hours of a day that we
can We have school obviously, but we do stuff like this.
(19:12):
We play golf, we fish, like whatever, whatever it is.
Figure that out, figure out your balancing. It'll, I think
you'll be better off you if you allow yourself to
be open to that, it'll you'll figure it out. Going
off that in transition in the March madness, I think
like basketball is way different in football in terms of
like recruiting, And we kind of talked talked about this before,
(19:32):
but like it's from a very young age, Like football
recruiting does it really starts like sophomore year high school
unless your kids didn't get offered by SEC school in
eighth grade, but apparently sophomore year on and there's no
like you can't really get recruited off seven on seven,
can you. Yeah? People are yeah, okay, that was than
(19:55):
seven or seven too. But like just saying, like you
can be at a basketball turning at fourteen years old,
there's like a bunch of D one coaches around you,
and I think that's a great thing. It's a great exposure.
But at the same time, it's like, like I remember myself,
I'm putting a lot of pressure on like a fourteen
year old fifteen year old me, Like because I see
other dudes getting offers, I'm like, all right, I gotta
(20:15):
like keep up this and that, and like like as
a fifteen year old be under that much stress, Like
it's it's definitely tough within basketball, but at the same time,
like if you can handle, it's definitely blessing. And like
you see like in March mann it's like and I
love March Madness that we can argue on this. And
I said, it's the top three sporting event in the world.
I don't know if you were there for that conversation,
(20:36):
the top three in the World World Cup. I'm not
counting Olympics because it's too much sports. Yeah, I and
super Bowl and Marchmadness. I personally think World Cup um
super Bowl and I was saying maybe a finals, but
(20:58):
it was rebuttable because more people Holly watch March Match
Madness and maybe finds world. It's also like it's up there,
though I don't know on the emotion, and like like St.
Peter's being in Kentucky, like what other where else does
that happen? Wait, I have a fun stab about that. Kentucky.
Don't call me on this. Kentucky pores twelve ms into
(21:20):
their basketball program and St. Peter's doesn't need pour half
of that, not even a quarter of that into theirs there, Jim,
if you can look up St. Peter's Jill, it's it's
like it's my high school. It's like love it. It's
like love it. My high school is best, really love it.
Maybe and they didn't work, and they'd be Kentucky exactly
anywhere crazy, they'll find you, they'll find you. That's why
(21:43):
I can work. That's why I think it's up there.
I don't know if i'll put the top three. I
think like four. But you don't see upsets like that. Yeah,
you don't see upsets in college football really like but
not like that, like that, that's absurd. That's fifteen and
what they were fifteen That would be like no offense
to the school. That would be like us losing it.
(22:03):
Like I don't know something, miss my Ohio. It's worse
than that, Like that's worse than Georgia State, like US
losing Georgia State. It's horrible. It's that's tough. How small
is Saint Peter's I don't even know what that' said
exactly exactly. It's like Jersey City, bro, like their school there,
(22:23):
my bad campus, like on a main road, like a
main road. It looks like a high school bro, No,
no offense to St. Peter's like all praised you guys
for pulling that off, but like she's crazy. Just I
don't know, that's crazy. I don't even think I can
figure out like a true comparison colletural, but that's like
like a D two school. Maybe no, it's not. I
(22:44):
don't think it's that's first D one. Yeah, I have
to be like a low D one school, like a
mid major likely US. Yeah, maybe I don't know that.
But like stuff like that never happens in determent. It
always happens. Like there's like three or four games were
just like there's no way that's supposed to happen. But
it's just I feel like once you get into the game,
(23:04):
there's like I feel like there's very few blowouts in
much badness. Always it's like three or three or four
in the first round. But like I feel like there's
so much confidence from the lower seed because they've seen
they've obviously seen it before, and like like if FCS
school came into play Notre Dame, like I feel like
there's less confidence there, Like New Mexico had less confidence
confidence coming in here and playing US. Our freshman year
(23:26):
than St. Peter's it against Kentucky because like, once you
get into March madness, they know anything that happened. Yeah,
and so they're just coming in like we have we
don't have ship to lose, like we're gonna go at you.
And then I kind of like take some teams off guard.
You might be right, but I might be up there
at top three. I love it. It's like I hate
it because of the brackets, but like I love watching it.
I love it because brackets. That's the only reason I
(23:49):
watched it. Honestly, Camps made ten brackets. By that I made.
I made five random brackets, and that five, I say,
reap them are doing really well. One's doing like one's
doing really really well. What's that? Yes, it's at ninety nine?
Stopped playing? Yeah, yeah, yeah's at fourteen And I'm actually
(24:16):
so I only did one bracket, right, and I took
two hours of philide out. I was doing stats. I
was looking at I was really into it, right, I
was like, all right, this is my best shot. Right.
I was like, this is my best shot right here,
like this is what I'm about to go with. And
then four PC of course smart band is even worse
that you spent two hours exactly. Yeah, who's y'alls picked
a win? I um, I have Arizona, Wisconsin with the
(24:41):
state um Providence. The state's out. Yeah, that's the one
that's doing bad in the Providence. One is doing really
bad in Texas Tech. So we'll see about text tect
or Dame later today. Wait, so you're oh nor Dame
of course, because that's not sure about the best ones there.
I didn't even pick that. I ran in my is
it it's randomized it. I have to go with nor Dame.
(25:04):
Come on, bro. And another fun fact, Nor name has
another one basketball team, I mean a baseball team in
the country. Teams don't really well in the in the bracket,
I mean March Madness football team across they're doing really well.
Lcross is like top fifteen, right, we're doing really good.
Supports right now are really good, just going really well
(25:25):
in this tournament. Private high school that's like good at
every sport. Yeah o d Like we don't look like
getting off the bus, but like we'll come like smack you. Yeah. Yeah.
It kind of sucks for baseball because it's all this
hype around March Madness and they're like the number one
team and they're playing Louisville in these big games right
now and no one really is talking about it. Definitely
gotta go to one of the weekend games after. It's crazy.
(25:47):
All right, there's a pretty they'll they'll start playing here
soon next week here. Really, who do you have one?
Hi have Arizona winning. I'm the only one that doesn't
have Arizona. Who fit? Okay, that's just I mean, that's
that was like my second child. Yeah, I like, I
like when you have no clue is gonna win? I
feel like you always have no clues gonna win? Though?
(26:07):
What is it? Smith? Bari Smith? Yeah, he's like too.
You can give a little jay Ivy shout out. Are
they still in it? Yeah? Ja, and he's doing well.
They are still they're they're now the top ranked in
there there region or whatever you call it. Zag They
were the overall number one for the whole time. It's
so random, like they I don't like picking zagat. They
(26:30):
never they never win. Imagine a Gonzaga football team. I
don't even think they have football, don't don't. It's just
crazy like straight basketball. So imagine that bro actually real
quick former high school fastmate of mind. I was in
Shawn's great places because basketball and Zaga. She just quored
a fourteen tons point there. Shout at Abbey O'Connor, shout out,
that's a lot of that crazy. Yeah, let's do um
(26:55):
score prediction orderda texattack. I got sixty nine, sixty nine,
sixty three, let's go, let's go see sixty eight Notre Dame,
and I don't see. Defense is like known to be
very alright, Okay, alright, see, I don't see. I didn't
even know how today. Let's go. All right, let's go,
(27:16):
let's go, Let's let's go, let's go. Let's go sixty
one fifty seven. Okay, damn yeah, well, I'm definitely gonna
take no damn um. The score is gonna be. It's
gonna be the exact score, um right right, fifty four
to forty nine. I was thinking it's gonna be like
somebody got somebody got to be the dark horse and
(27:38):
pick Texas Tech one of you guys. I mean, I'm
not gonna pick, especially in front of that. So yeah,
I'm gonna go Notre Dame. I'm gonna say fifty seven
Buzzard beat new Ens. Let's say, Cormick, Cormack, he's ball,
(28:04):
I'm gonna go fifty eight to fifty six, and it's
a tie game. They get a layup and then they
have to come down shot, have court show and it
almost goes in. But Notre Dame was like one of
those banks shots right here. Yeah, all right, Now we're
gonna talk about the biggest news that's happened in sports
probably the past few days. Deshaun Watson signs with the
(28:26):
Browns out of nowhere. Um, what was it? I don't know.
Five years, two hundred thirty million guaranteed, fully guaranteed, which
is I think the first time it's ever happened, like
other than like Aaron Rodgers that just happened, but two thirties.
Like his base salary next year is like a million,
and then his signing bonuses like forty six. They salaries
(28:48):
in mill Yeah, because like in order to save like
cap room. I hope. I'm just saying, explain this right.
People will convert salary into a signing bonus. You just
get it automatically until they have more money to Like,
so he's dinner can be in the first year he's
getting like forty He also has one year left in
his other contracts. I don't know if they took that
on or not. I'm not sure it says it says
additional details not yet confirmed past the first year. But yeah,
(29:11):
he's getting a forty five million dollars signing bonus, which
I assume it's he had to get to up front
or within the first two years. So that's at least
twenty three million the year, and then he's crazy one
million based salary um he gets all because a signing bonus,
donning a bus just guaranteed. Obviously he's got the off
the field stuff going on besides that. But I think
(29:32):
he's a good quarterback like DeShawn Watson. But I just like,
I feel like the Browns is just like a can
be a vacuum, can be a vacuum for quarterbacks sometimes. Yeah,
I don't know. I mean, he's a great quarterback, don't
get me wrong, and I think it's gonna be really good,
But I don't know if what he's done to this
point warrants that. Yeah, yeah, that's I mean what he
(29:54):
was carrying the playoffs one time in Texans, got won
one game. Lots of the Bills broh him him and
him and do you have like carrying him? Yeah, he
was himself really good. But that's like I don't know.
I guess I gave Patrick Mahon the same thing at
the same amount of time. Think about this, in the
last since we've been in college. One is the Shaun
Watson been in the top five ways of quarterbacks. I
(30:15):
mean he was when he was hot top five though,
think about it, we had we had Brady, Brady Rogers, Freeze,
Bill's quarterback. You have no defense. I'm saying Shawn Watson
in the top five category at quarterback in the last
(30:38):
four years. Muh taking off last year. Yeah, I still
think he's really good. I think he's really good. But
two millions, I understand if they would two aren't thirty million,
Like it's a lot of want to go into the
NFL now, but the fact that it's fully guaranteed and
not stage differently, just like beyond me, I don't understand that.
Shout out to David MILLI getta Deshaun Watson. Yeah, he's
(31:00):
a he's athletes first. Guy's really cool actually, but shout
out to him forgetting him that contract. That's crazy though.
That's as as spacebout as ad space. Is it that? No,
that's just a friendly shot, a friendly friendly Um, but
I mean he already Uh no that but that's gonna
help football a lot because football is the only sport
(31:22):
the money is not guaranteed, right, I think football and
hockey maybe the most dangerous sport sport. I mean, but
that that's probably a reason why it's not guaranteed, because like,
why am I guaranteed all this money? You might get hurt?
Get hurt? Um, I mean, yeah, cab was gonna expanse soon,
I believe, because they're shining a new TV deal. It's
worth like eleven billion dollars, So hopefully more guaranteed money.
(31:44):
I think within the next ten years, every like all
contracts be guaranteed. I think. So it's trending because there's
gonna be more and more guaranteed money, or like at
least eighty percent of it's guaranteed. Because sometimes they sign
a hundred million dollar contract, can you only get thirty
forty million of it? And that's just it's not real
money that you're signing for. It's still a lot of
(32:06):
variables that go into it. Was the highest paid safety
right now, Adams seven in a year Liz Boys. That's
like a that's like a meme, that's like he played,
he plays did and stuff like that. I think a
safety we should be getting more. Safety is hard. Yeah,
(32:29):
I think in today's game, I think the market's gonna
it's gonna have once Derwin signs his second contract, like
he's gonna blow the market out of water. But that's
hard position to play. It bro it is, And I
think it's because sadies are asked to do more nowadays.
Like back in the day, like these are just in
the box. Pream was playing extra linebackers but or or
in the post, and now like you have to do
(32:50):
a bunch of other stuff. But and that's why I
think the positional value comes from. Like I honestly, safeties
are just his value, maybe a little bit lower than corners.
And this is currently not helping my jar stuck by
saying this, But but now I think corners are probably
a little more just because they obviously are covering the
highest paid receivers in the league. At the same time,
(33:10):
like safety is still do a lot, still cover like
receivers and stuff. So I mean they're right there, and
I connect. I used to think of the defensive quarterback
as middle linebacker. But I think it's moving more towards
safety in my opinion, right right at the quarterback. I
used to like a few years about but being in
college and seeing how much you do and like, just
like everything you guys have, you guys have to know everything.
(33:32):
Coming into college, I was like, I'm thinking, all right,
Mike linebacker is gonna give me the call and then
break it down for me. And then first day camp
or first day meetings, they're like, yeah, you have to
give all these tricks, and I was like, getting yea
because I had never do everything said words on the
field before high school. In high school was just like
let all the linebackers do everything, and then you just
in the bag, just roaming exactly. So just literally just
(33:55):
seaball get ball, feeling what you can't stop him, So
get the bob backs and get off into score. Matt
staff for four years. He just got he got a
new contract where sixty million, one six. I don't know
if it's about that. I think that means Odell's coming back.
(34:16):
I think that's not come back. They just got Allen
Robinson not going back to l I don't I don't
think Robert Woods read somethings. It's very weird, like a
small chance they did release or trade Rabbit Woods. Oh
they did, yeah, the Titaness because Titans released. Truly, I
heard Robert Woods like the O G had I received
a group like you know, he was like he because
(34:38):
he couldn't got hurt this season, but he was basically
like he's like really, well look, uh yeah, have you
heard his nickname calling Bobby Trees, like Robert Bobby Woods Trees.
You see Kirk Cousins, you got one year extension for
thirty five million dollars. Her Cousin's agent. He's a Nobel
(34:58):
Peace Prizect. He made so much money over I mean
like he's not a bad quarterback, but he's a mid
tier quarter He's made over two or thirty million dollars. Yeah,
like her Cousins. Yes, he's good. He's he's a serviceable quarterback.
I mean when is Cooper cub side his next contract?
That's what he's about. The poop and DeVante Adams contract
you just got. And speaking of that too, he just
(35:20):
also if you want Adams like, well, do you guys
like that? Because the Packers matched the money to explain, Uh,
it's want the Adams Packers receiver like the best shiver
in the game currently. I think, right, yeah, I think
I think had a better year. Like he's up top
of the top. He's can most consistent though, like Cooper
(35:42):
kind of blast off year, but DeVante Adams consistently been
up there. He went, he went to the Raiders, got
like this the highest pit contract as receiver, Packers matched
hit Um, but he still decided to go to the Raiders.
Derek College quarterback, probably gonna stake. I don't know how
he thought about living in Green Bay versus Vegas. He's
a West Coast guy. But apparently Aaron Rodgers knew that
(36:05):
before he signed. He knew be there before he signed.
So who do who do they have now? Receiver e Q. Yeah,
that's goes to show how great Aaron Rodgers is. Bro
Oh yeah, just like they got to bring into the
receiver though they will. Yeah, it's just like their whole
saying Odell to Green Bay people. We're saying that Aaron
(36:27):
Rodgers they would have to back up to bring struck
for him to go to Green Bay, they have to
build a dome. And also also how long is that
recovery process. We'll be back for next year the middle
of next season. Yeah, they're not beginning, that's for sure,
And usually NFL guys take time for that type of stuff.
Damn that sucks, but I'm sick for him. He's had
(36:51):
a kid, though, so maybe that's that's a way for
him though. Yeah, Discot's way of working it out that way,
his attentions not just on his you know. Yeah, so
that a kid, if you would. So I was like
my favorite player going up. No, no, like my screen saver, like.
I used to repost his post on Instagram on my
like my Instagram like, I would download the repost app
(37:14):
like and then copy his post and then repost it
on my and I captured like pro he's a dog.
I don't even know what it's like fourteen. This is
like sophomore high school too. Was on the Giants. I
was definitely a big fan because I was an l
two fans. So alright, we're moving on the outside the
(37:35):
garage now. First one comes from Underscore Hagen Underscore Davis Underscore,
UM favorite show of all time or I'm gonna sing
TV show I can't give three. No Entourage, No Entourage,
one of my favorite carriacters of all times are I'm
in the process, bro, She's so funny. So I just
(37:57):
started I'm on season three. That hilarious larious. It's like
corny but hilarious at the same time. Like Aries is
like his oneliners are amazing. He's one of the best characters. Yeah, yeah,
you gotta watch I'm gonna take it back and go
with ridiculousness. I still love that. It's an interesting guy.
(38:18):
Great up. Uh, it's gonna sounds stupid, but for some reason,
growing up, I still watched Jersey Short Lota really yeah,
if my mom your mom chart thing. Uh. I don't know.
(38:39):
I have like a favorite TV show. It's kind of
hard to choose, but I was just in a Jersey
Short because I watched a lot and I'm just getting
into like all the Netflix, Like I'm watching those darks
now and I just finished Out of Banks all that stuff.
So I don't watch Game never a watch one episode.
That's a good series. That's a real good series, you
like adopt the lifestyle watching that series is different. Yeah,
(39:02):
I'll go Game with Thrones. M great show. It's very
very much it's a time commitment. It is, but like
it's like the layers to that show and how everything
comes together. It's just it looks crazy beautiful, that beautiful
chef's kids. Yeah that's good. Um. Second one from Alex Mohobe.
(39:23):
What's something that people assume about you that is completely
not true? Good or bad? Are we gonna do this one?
Like I'm we're all doing about Cam or Yeah? Yeah
that's fine. Let me let me go first, back, Cam,
I've had I've had Lato pump to be and be
like yo, Cams like super I can really super nice
dude and like all this. Yeah, I'm like, I'm like,
(39:45):
why would you like? I don't know what it is,
but like so I guess people like maybe because they
see you like on the game or like on the field,
and they like they have interact with you. There's like
don't like they assume not like you're a mean guy,
but like, oh no, they assume that I'm I'm I
(40:06):
mean no, they don't know you, and like they like
they're like, Okay, he's actually a super nice person. Not
even not every player is like super you know, they're
like And the reason I say because people have actually
come out with me and said that about you. Okay,
I took. You are very nice. They think player, it's
very nice. Money something bad. Probably it's your extra serious,
(40:28):
but you're probably hell. You are just like people like
you carry yourself in a cool way or whatever. But
then like you get hind closed door and you're hello,
he's good. That's that's that's also Kyle like that, Kyle,
I feel like we bring it out of each other. Yeah,
he played me around a good a good group of people.
(40:49):
Then yeah, let's go. I'll go first. People assume that
he doesn't talk. I assume that before getting close with them.
And again he's a goofy person. Behind doors. You'll learn
a lot about Cornor by doors. Um Let people have
said something about about you to me, Um, I probably
(41:12):
say careful. I'd probably just say um. A lot of
people have been like Connor's kind of intimidating. I'm like,
Connor's not really, there's not intimidating at all. Yeah, I goes,
I goes hand in hand with the solidest. Yeah, because
he's you may seem stand office shot first because he's like, yeah,
(41:34):
it's good. Uh. I would say Connor was a badass kid.
That's that's what people probably would to think about Connor Harol.
He's a walking headache as a child. I can listen
to your mom tell stories about you as a kid
for hours hours. Broa the video of you singing Happy Birthday.
(41:57):
Leave your dad just dropped that in my messages, like
randomly on like a wed just dropped in Bro, that's
classic AJ age. I'm going people think you have everything intact,
but you do that. You do that, first of all,
(42:20):
I do. You're not organized person? What's up? What do
you mean by that? Though? You know what I mean.
You're gonna lose something, You're gonna forget something. You're not
gonna be a time with time. You're gonna be there,
but you're not gonna be a time. But it's always
but you always get whatever you need to get done, exactly.
(42:41):
You always get done. You always get done. You always
get always get it done regardless. Oh man, you think
I would say them any thing as well? Honestly, I
would say, you're kind of like you're not quiet, but
you a lot of time, you got a straight face
like this, but obviously, like all four of us are
really good. If you did so, I would say people
(43:02):
like just because you play football and like only like
you're cool, outgoing people may that I think that you
have this side too, but like you're very cerebral, Like
you think about stuff in a different way and different contexts,
and like take stuff and kind of put your own
twist on it. And I mean you do have some
dumb blonde moments for sure. Is not a human but
(43:24):
you're very cerebral. I don't have a lot of people
know that. I appreciate it. How deep we're gonna get
with this one? Why is mine like the end all?
There's one that's like, there's one that's glaring. Can we
say that or not? I don't know what you're talking
What are you talking about? Do we know the same thing?
You say that you treating your girlfriend? Yes? Boa yes,
(43:47):
And that's obviously not true. But that's something that people
think the people, And I'm like why, I mean, how's
that a bad thing? I think that's just a normal
thing that people think. You know, Yeah, I'm fine, and
I think it just fished. I think that's because that's
what they think. There's the lifestyle, go football player, NFL
first round pick, whatever, like what's probably due on campus.
(44:07):
He has all these opportunities. I'm just keeping it roll
with you, Okay has all these opportunities, but he doesn't.
And that's litely what we're all taking. We get the
did we still have the applause button on there? But
that's funny, but I think it literally is thinking the
(44:29):
safe was the first thing that did that not come
into my mind. I thought, like, people like you just
say that. People think I'm cool, but I'm really just
like a goofy as nerd around. I mean, yeah, that's
a lot more I could say. Yeah, okay, and that's
fair though. Yeah, shout out to all my little black
men out there, all races, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I
(44:55):
appreciate that then for sure. So if you're listening, we're
just cleaning the water right now, unless you know, yeah,
I will be confirming with her when this will be
in the podcast. If you're listening to this right now,
then you know I got the okay, but yeah, we're
gonna end it there. Appreciate you all listening. Good to
be back in the group sage for sure, and we'll
see y'all next time, for sure.
