Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Insider's Guide to the Other Side, a production
of I Heart Radio. Hi, y'all, I'm Julie. Hi there,
I'm Brenda. Welcome to Insider's Guide to the Other Side. Now,
y'all need to know that we are obsessed with everything
on the other side. Yes we are, because once you

(00:22):
learn to navigate the energetic, or to some the invisible world,
life is going to be more fun and much more serene. Heck,
yes it can, because, let's be honest, brand Earth School
is hard. In fact, you taught me that, let's crush
Earth School together. Welllloch, welcome everybody to giggle Fest. It's

(00:54):
giggle fest. But we're gonna talk about twenty three. How
you doing my which you boo, other than cover your
eyes and absolutely looking your ship because because you picked me.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, I am.
I am awesome and I'm entertained say that, y'all if

(01:18):
y'all knew. Okay, how are you what's going on? Well,
I have a big thing that I need your advice. Okay.
I am having an existential crisis with my um, with
my alter ego name. Okay, so this is not your

(01:42):
elphin name I assume. No, no, no, no, this is
alter ego. No Elphis is who I am day and day.
Alter ego is an alter ego, just like I don't
know if you remember Mona, our friend Mona. Everybody knows Mona.
Her her alter ego was Monique and she would have
like a French accent and do the whole thing. So

(02:05):
so a few weeks back, Irene Kara jumped the planet
and it was like, where the hell's she going with this? Well,
here's here's where I'm going with this, people, is that
my alter ego was Coco, her character on same And
so I don't know what to do with my Like
my namesake of my alter ego has jumped, and so

(02:29):
does that mean I need to find a new one.
I don't know what to do. I'm I'm in a crisis.
I'm so glad we have this podcast, right things and things?
I find out you knew my alter ego was Coco.
I did not know you. You didn't know that. I
didn't know you had an alter I mean, are you
are a panther? Yea, no, no, no, no no no no.

(02:54):
This is like a little sliver Susanna eons ago we
were watching TV and a repeat Fame was on, and
I don't know what the hell came over me. I
think it was during Mona's Monique phase. And I looked
at Suzanne and I said, say my name, and she
goes I said say my name, and she goes, what
the hell you do? I said, my name is Coco

(03:16):
and she goes, okay, Coco. And that's how it all started.
So it was Irene Cara, Oh my god. And so
Coco just comes up every once in a while. Does
Susanne have an alter ego too? Did she know? Now?
She doesn't play with me? No, but I still play anyway. Um,
but if you have an answer of what I need

(03:36):
to do with my alter ego, I would really appreciate
it because I am having a crisis. So I am
sorry for your crisis. I'm sorry if I'm not being
appropriately compassionate. She's dabbing a tear from her on. Yes,
your alter ego is completely intact and fine and did
not jump the planet. You are good to go. What

(04:02):
if feeling okay? Intact? Cocoa? Um okay, So, so thank
you for that. I appreciate it. So you're gonna you're
gonna create an Instagram page for Coco. Am I am
I might be a Twitter account, but am I Twitter

(04:23):
is gonna be dead? Yeah? Oh wow, Hey now we're
doing predictions. Hey no stradomas like it. Um. So actually
what we wanted to do was because this is part
two to our twenty three and you twenty three and
you part two. Um, that we right, and so we

(04:46):
talked about in the last what just like how we
kind of like the different things that we do to
prepare for the next year, and so much of it
is like our earthly part right, just like who we
are and how operate. Um. And I know last year
everybody got really excited when you did the spread, and um,

(05:09):
we did the first part. In the second part part spread,
and so everybody, Brenda has kindly agreed to actually do
a I say live spread because we're both still living,
even though the show isn't live, but a live spread
and so I get to be here. Why she doesn't,
it's not like her like in the quietness of her

(05:30):
home with Lulu doing a spread by herself and make
a notes. It's like I get to see people. So
we're gonna come right back in just a minute. And
Brenda is going to tell us what the hell we
need to be ready for for next year. We'll be
right back. Well, y'all have no idea how long this

(05:53):
break just was because I have a stepple in which
um Brenda was going to do a three card spread
read and then I was told nope, you didn't do
a ten, so I to create some space at my
table to do that. So shuffling on microphone near microphones
is never a good thing, so we need to shuffle

(06:14):
ahead of time. So okay, So where would you like
to hit it with? This? Is? I mean? I get,
I get to like watch along with her a picture
of the spread with a phone cord in the right,
but it's a headset chord. But whatever, I think the

(06:35):
whole Grandma moved there nice, all right? So ue, what
we have is that it's really important, as we've been talking,
to set your intentions about who and what you want
to be and how you want to be, how you

(06:55):
want to feel, how you want to make other people feel,
so that you know when you're on target. What's really
important about going into twe with these two nines leading
us in is that you are setting the goal. You
are setting the target you're the only one who's going
to know when you're on target and when you're not.
And when you have these these two nines that are

(07:16):
really you know, kind of for the entry into as
you're going in your goal and your target is going
to be what guides you. There may be chaos all
around you, there may be noise, there may be challenge,
There may be you maybe just be exhausted going in there,
like you know, I'm ready to be done with this
whatever whatever it is. It could be a phase, it

(07:38):
could be holidays, it could be relationship, could be a job,
whatever it is. Because it's showing up in a couple
different suits that you wanted to understand what I know
what I'm leaving. I'm clear about that, or it's in
my feel it in my bones, what's about what I
want to move from. But the key, of course is
to know what you're moving towards, as we talked about
in part one. And so when when you look at

(08:02):
what you're moving towards and you're like, I have no
clue how to do that, or I don't I've never
done that before, so how how would I know how
to do that? Don't let that get in the way.
Don't let that prevent you from taking action, because so
you have to create the path. Is not a good
enough reason not to begin the path, not to begin

(08:25):
the journey. And so sometimes you just have to ask
for help. You have to ask for um, you know,
people who've gone, who have walked it before. So that's
why it's so important. We didn't know this when we
did part one. But that's why it's so important for
you to have that goal internally set. And it doesn't
mean that you say, oh, I want this job and
this company at this level with you know, with you know,

(08:49):
for this much money, Like you don't have to be
that specific as much as uh, you want to know
how it's gonna how you're going to feel when you're
in the right kind of role. You'll know generally what
sort of act ativity your you're offering, how you're leading,
how you're guiding, how you're creating, how you're innovating, how
you're whatever it is that you're doing, Like you'll know generally,
like how that feels. I'm excited, I'm innovated, I'm supported,

(09:11):
I'm breaking barriers, I'm you know, I'm just pulling out
some things that can be part of any one role,
but you'll know how it'll feel. And again, just because
you don't have the exact details and you may so,
good on you, but if you don't, don't let that
get in the way from you moving forward, moving towards

(09:32):
that goal that's super important. And what you will find
is you will find challenges and you will find nurturing support.
It may come in the most surprising of places. Obviously,
you have your tribe, you will know like what where
to go for support? You know your your die or
ride you know, keep them closed. And there'll be places

(09:55):
where you'll have to go beyond that core group to
actually get you where you're going. And that'll be vulnerability,
that will require vulnerability, that will require you taking what
can feel like little risks. But that doesn't mean that
it won't pay off. Yes, I have a question. No,
but you guys didn't seem to raise my hand, But

(10:17):
I just raised my hands. I didn't really want to
stop the witches flow? Is um? So could it also
be that if you're going to find that outside of
your ride or die group, what about what if you
are that person that can provide that? Can you also
set an intention which is like I'm here to help.

(10:38):
I'm here to serve, even if it's not in my
closest group. Like, is that another way to look at this?
These cards? Not the way this spread is said? Not
this spread got it? Yeah, yeah, because you because that
empress would chop in the core if what was yours
got it. Yeah. So this is you reaching out for guidance,

(10:58):
switching out for a very strategic plan. So it's just
super important, um, to be brave and reach out. And look,
I'm I also want to say as you're moving forward,
as we are moving forward collectively and individually, that it
won't be like there's not some scar tissue to recover from.

(11:18):
And it could be like, you know, I tried leaving
this this place before, or this relationship before, UM or
you know, this family or whatever, and it just didn't
go very well and it's not worth it, and so
I'm just gonna stay here. And that might be just fine.
That there may be an element that's okay, But the

(11:41):
only way you're going to get okay with that is
you if you change how you engage. So you cannot
be okay with doing it the same way allowing them
excuse me, allowing um someone to to really disrespect you
this on or not even how you do, but who

(12:03):
you are, Like you know, it's one thing I don't
like how you set the table or something like that,
Like that's families come together for holidays and things like that.
And there's lots of things we don't like what we've
grown out of or we do things differently now, and
that's annoying. But that's not the little things I'm talking
about that maybe what they're talking about, but how they're
talking about it is they're actually saying you are not

(12:26):
okay the way you are, and that is where you
have to draw the line. That is where you have
to be able to respect yourself enough to say, um,
that's not okay with me. You can't talk to me
like that like you you And it doesn't matter if
it's at work or a professional relationship or a personal relationship.
You have to remember what's that goal, How am I

(12:48):
going to feel? Who am I going to be? How
am I going to be? And and let that be
your guide. So I just want to be really clear
about that. Any questions about that mylfite that is brilliant, Okay,
well that is spread but well, but you translate the

(13:09):
spread beautifully. That's perfect. Um. And And the only other
thing I want to say about that is if you
have to take breaks from relationships, and maybe if it's
at work, maybe it's just space. Like Okay, so I
don't go to their meetings for a little bit, I'll
just read you know, the notes are all watch because
some companies record meetings. Now you can watch them that
way or something like that, like so you can stay

(13:30):
informed because we need you to be able to perform
your job appropriately. But don't be afraid to take breaks.
It doesn't mean you are dead to me kind of break,
but it could be. You know what, I'm just not
gonna return those calls as quickly or those texas quickly.
I'm going to take some space. You can tell them
or you can just embody it, like whatever is safe

(13:51):
and comfortable for you, and you get to decide, because
you're gonna the boss of the boss of you. And
is that the hermit? Is that where the hermit showed up? Well,
it's all three of those, yeah, yeah. And then the
important piece for everyone as we move towards those internally
set goals, that feeling, that feeling of purpose, the feeling

(14:12):
of meaningfulness, the feeling of um expression on authenticity that
you're cultivating all through is going to require the spaciousness
in your day. And it looks ideally we're meditating every day. Realistically,
if that is not your practice, don't flip out. Start

(14:35):
with twice a week. I'm gonna do twice a week, right,
and then go to three times a week. And if
you hover at three times a week for ten years,
you're still getting a heck of a lot of meditation.
Like that's amation, that's amazing, right, it's just amazing. But
this is the year to really create that space, to

(14:55):
cultivate that connection to that inner target, that inner goal
in a vision for you. Never let the person you
are today get in the way of the person you
want to be you long to be, Like, just keep
working towards it, and the goal keeps changing, Like, yes,
we become hopefully more content and have a degree of satisfaction,

(15:16):
but we always long to be better, Like we know
there's always more of us to cultivate and and curate
and become. So, but just start today, That's that's what's
really important. And then what happens really call it, and
you know, maybe the second half um. But it may

(15:37):
not actually take place until late August or September, but
the support comes in, the serenity comes in. We stopped
living with so much fear and regret, and we see
that runway laid out for us in such a beautiful
way because of all the actions you took that may
look like they didn't take root, they didn't take form,

(16:01):
But when you keep up with those practices of is
this okay with me? Is this putting me on the
path to my target, to my vision, to my longing,
to my passion, right to my inspiration. Like if you
keep those guide posts in front of you, all of
a sudden, it feels like it's like this, all of
a sudden, it just shows up with a clear path forward.

(16:24):
But it doesn't just all of a sudden show up.
It's little. It's literally a dial that you keep dialing in,
dialing in every time you sit to practice, every time
you have a conversation of like, well, I don't really know,
but I'm hoping for this, I'm creating this, I'm holding
the space, the sacred space for this UM and I'm
doing this practice or I'm studying this, or I'm reading
this book or whatever It is these little things, even

(16:45):
if you read a paragraph a day of something that
you find inspirational, that is fueling or informing you about
your vision, about your goal. Like all this contributes to that. Oh,
there's the clearing and now I can move forward. So
that's what I have to say about. Like, so that's

(17:08):
what me and the other side head to say today. Okay,
can I ask a question? Yeah, of course about particular cards. Um,
it's helpful. I mean if it's helpful, Like I know
it's interesting to you as a reader, but I don't know. Yeah, well,
I think it maybe seems like we are going to

(17:29):
be coming out of the financial situation and the country
or the world or when starting because I just saw that,
you know, the five of five of birth. Yeah, I
mean right, we have some definitely some definite cards that
will be reset, you know, invite us to reset, is
what I gotta um. And so that can be that

(17:50):
can be dramatic, that can be you know, uh uranus,
that can be Mars going forward in January, can be
a lot of things, you know that that can can
actually instigate this in this way. Um um. But and
so the first I would say, the first quarter of
could be a little dicey, But it's nothing that is

(18:13):
without purpose, is what I would say, because it does.
It creates healing and inspiration um and like it really
challenges us to look inside and say, Okay, so remember
how I talked about you, Like, okay, so that happened.
Now who do I want to be? Now? Do I
need to be? Who do I Who do I need
to be? Now? What does the situation call from me?

(18:35):
In my best version right now? And these are questions
that I would be ringing through or that I will
be bring three given this spread. It kind of reminds
me of because I've had a lot of conversations with
people about you know, oh, the mortgage rates are raised
rising and this and that, and you know all these

(18:57):
economic fears and woes, and you know, the political landscape
has been inflation, vote Republican, fine, whatever. My point is,
like economies rise and fall, it's a pattern. You don't
always have to be an asshole, is what I always

(19:17):
say at the end of it. That's my point. You
don't have to be an asshole. It's like we will
always see ebbs and flows always. You know, the market
will always rise and it will always come down and
it seems to rise again, and it seems to I mean,
at least patterns show that. And um, so just to

(19:39):
like take breath and be patient about things because that's
the same things that that can happen in relationships, especially
if you're treating them, you know, with great communication and
things that you just talked about. But like part of
it is understanding the flow to me, right and the connectivity,
Like it's all I mean, really, um, this spread has

(20:02):
a lot of abundance in it as well, a lot
of healing, a lot of abundance. Beautiful cards by the way,
but remember there are no bad cards, right, But but
they the interconnectedness of the cards represent the interconnectedness of
the economy to relationships, from your authenticity to your abundance. Right,

(20:26):
these the it's your ability to heal, your abilities, speak
compassionately and directly. Right, these things are all interrelated. Like
you can't separate. You can't do one to get the
full benefit without doing them all. And that's why it
requires those three to five minutes a day, three to
five minutes a day of saying, how can I be

(20:48):
my best? What do I need to know today? Show
me what I need to know today right, and in
just three or five minutes of that on the regular
puts you in a completely different place at such a
higher frequency of engagement. Just even after ninety days of
doing that, you can deal with the peaks and the

(21:08):
valleys and the ebbs and the flows because you're connected
to something that's bigger than you. So this seems like
this is a big year for people to focus on
that type of work for themselves because things, you know,
every year, you know, ship happens every year, it's just
you know, and this one really feels like a calling though,

(21:30):
Like this, based on what you're saying and what I
am sensing from this, it's good. So we should probably
take a break. We'll break and we'll be right back.
All right, y'all, Welcome back to Brenda's Show One and You,

(21:53):
Part two, Section three. UM. So, I love this and
I'm gonna be staring at these cards. Um, but I'm
going to be re listening to what you said, because
I think there were like big but amazing calls for
people to take responsibility for themselves, take responsibility and how

(22:18):
they um see the world, who they want to be,
how they want to handle things they can't control. Well,
and really that's where we all have to focus, right
because how how we want to be when we're getting
exactly what we want isn't a challenge. How hard is
itnce say thanks, you're like, I got this, I'm in charge,

(22:42):
I'm good. Not how it at all. It's when we
don't get what we want. It's when we have to
actually work hard to create what we want and we
don't know how to do it, so we get scared,
and we get a little grappy, and we get a
little little snippy, you know, right when we get when
we get afraid that it's not going to happen. And

(23:03):
I do think global shutdowns with COVID no, but for real,
like I think though, it makes a lot of sense
why the other side wants us to know this right now? Um,
because we're coming out. If anyone just heard that collar
that was Brenda has a leash on me because I'm

(23:28):
struggling with my alter ego name Cocoa. We know that's
not true, so so um, but you know, just things
that are happening in the world right now, where we
see a big revolt in China against their you know,

(23:49):
their lockdown. If you've seen that and like a couple
of weeks ago this came out, and so we've seen
that kind of stuff happened. We see uprisings happening, we
see people find ending their voice. That we see these
things and there's a lot of unrest, but people are
finding their voices around the world. And and again this
is essentially remember they know what their goal is, whether

(24:15):
it's if it's in Iran where the young woman was
killed for her her head dress not being correct, right,
and all these other young people are standing up and saying, no,
I know this may cost my life and I don't care.
It is the light thing to do, right. So they
don't know how it's going to change, but they know

(24:36):
they will change it, right. And it's the same thing you.
You may not know exactly what your vision is, but
you know what it's not going to be, and let
that be enough to feel you Now, hopefully it's not
necessarily it's not necessary for you to put your life
at risk as these situations both on either side of
the world. Um, you know, you know, these people are

(24:57):
literally putting their life at risk to protest in the
street and find their voice. But it can feel like that,
it can in your nervous system. It can actually feel
like that if you are considering quitting your job or
saying I feel like I'm gonna I'm gonna study reiki
like it can feel like a betrayal to your tribe

(25:18):
where it can be very vulnerable. And how do you
cultivate that slowly and grow the confidence and grow your
your spiritual support when so that you can come out
to your true authentic line. Like, that's what the first
half is going to be about. Is a second half,
go hug a Generation Z. That's just my mantra. If

(25:43):
anybody's around that's Generation Z and wants a hug, just
look me up. I think you guys are magnificent. But
that's not exactly how I would translate it. But I
think it's hugs for all. It's hugged for well, but
I'm hugs for disease because I think like they are
everything I wanted my generation to be. They're every they are,

(26:03):
They are amazing, They're going to change us and I hope,
oh there's no doubt sooner later. Yeah, I think that
they already are. They already are. They're the ones who
are um not tolerating this behavior any wrong they're not
tolerating the lockdowns in China, UM and like this whole
zero talk like there was a fire and they had

(26:27):
the doors chained shut because of their COVID lockdowns. Like
that's so they're like, no, you can't lock us in
and kill us. Not okay, right, So anyway, hug z
UM or if you're in if you're in England, hug
z n For those that know, they don't say ze um.

(26:50):
So this was magnificent, Brenda. I think this is a
call to all of us, and I'm taking as a
call to myself, so i will personally thank you UM
and on behalf of everyone listening a well, thank you
for doing that. I think it is um such a
great way, in a peaceful way to exit one year
and enter into another. And that's what I was kind

(27:11):
of kidding around. And the last one about you know,
scare this last year, it's like, no, we need to
approach it, I think with a far more grace and
more proactivity. And that's why I'm so glad that you
wanted to do these two shows and I'm so grateful
that you did this reading. So thank you, thank you,
thanks for asking. So all right, everybody go create your

(27:33):
vision boards. They can do it with words. If you
don't like pictures, you can draw. You know, I'm pinting this.
You can do however you want, but create that frequency
that you are, that's being, you know, calling to from within.
Cultivate that. I love it. I remember our school is
hard without witchye Poon on the other Side. Thanks everybody,
