Do you get nervous when you're called upon to be the solo speaker in front of a group? Well, guess what? So does Brenda Rose. And today she hosts the podcast minus her Beloved Elf! How did she get through her nervousness? By consulting her Tarot cards, of course.

Today Brenda takes you on a Tarot journey, explaining why it's her go-to foundational tool for clarity and discernment. During today's podcast, Brenda does a couple of tarot spreads live, allowing you to see and understand how clear Tarot's messages are and how they provide guidance and affirmation of your intuition with ease and joy. During these readings, Brenda breaks down the process: the question she asked, the cards that appeared, their meaning, and the outcome of the reading. The ways to incorporate Tarot into your daily life are limitless...

You'll also learn about her two upcoming Intro to Tarot workshops with an invitation to join either one—online weekly for six weeks beginning Saturday February 4th, or in-person at Esalen in Big Sur, California, March 20-24th.

Tune in today as we play in the magical realm of Tarot because Earth School is hard without your Elf.... and the beauty and guidance of Tarot.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Insider's Guide to the Other Side, a production
of My Heart Radio. Hi, y'all, I'm Julie. Hi there,
I'm Brenda. Welcome to Insider's Guide to the Other Side.
Now you all need to know that we are obsessed
with everything on the other side. Yes we are, because

(00:21):
once you learn to navigate the energetic, or to some
the invisible world, life is going to be more fun
and much more serene. Heck, yes it can, because let's
be honest, brand Earth school is hard. In fact, you
taught me that let's crush Earth School together. Hi everybody,

(00:43):
this is Brenda and I'd like to welcome you to
my first solo with my ol. Miss Julie is down
for the count. We have delayed this recording for a
couple of days, hoping that she would get better and better,

(01:03):
but that is not the direction it has gone. So
she is um getting some medical attention and I'm going
to do my best to cover for her while she
is down and trying to hold the space for our
time together. Um, as you can imagine, I'm a little

(01:25):
nervous because my help is very generous and holds a
generous space, and I was always you know, so caring
and you know, invites me into a conversation because I'm
really great when I'm teaching, but just to talk like
me talking is um is hard for me, just like

(01:45):
I hear from some of you that sometimes it's hard
to come forward with your gifts or what you know
because you're not sure how people are going to respond.
And as you know, my ELpH is she doesn't care.
She's great in the best way, like she's just really
confident in where she is. And that's where I stand

(02:07):
when I'm teaching. But now it's my time to step
up and be brave and talk about something. So of
course my go to topic is as always to Row.
But I want to tell you why it's so on
my mind right now is because I'm getting ready to
teach to to Row classes, one in February online and

(02:28):
one in March in person. And there's rep work that
I have to do because I'm always editing excuse me,
the print copy, right, So the handouts for the online
and the workbook for the in person sessions, like I'm
editing those and those are two different documents because there

(02:48):
are two different teaching platforms, and so they have to
be customed to the process that they're supporting, which of
course seems obvious, but it does take a little bit
of work. And I'm just knee deep in doing both
these edits and having so much fun and just falling
in love with Tourow over and over again. So if
you're up for to Row and you're thinking this might

(03:09):
be said, you know, twenty three is a seven year.
It's the perfect year to study spiritual things. So if
tou Row is calling to you, please feel free. My
online class is going to be on Saturdays because that
seems to be a very popular day for people to
jump in and you know, spend some time with themselves

(03:32):
and learning something to support their journey. There are school
journey and there's just no better tool than to ROW
there for that. And we're meeting Saturdays through February four
through March fourth. And remember if you need to miss
one or more of those, it doesn't matter because all
classes are recorded, and then you can send any questions
you have to me on email and I'll address them

(03:53):
in the next class, which will be recorded even if
you're not their lives, so that's really easy. You never
have to leave your home, or you can leave your
home and take the class with you wherever you go.
And then if you have the luxury of taking a
full week and coming to SLY in the week of March,
that of course is extraordinary as well, because one it's

(04:15):
a privilege of being in person, which is amazing, just
never gets old, right and in this sacred of vortex
of the magic that is Lyn. So think about either
one of those, and I'd love to have you come join,
come repeat, if you've studied with me or studied to
row someplace else, because again, to rogues is the expander

(04:38):
of life, like it's such the spiritual foundation. I recently
met with the dream Team, who is made up of
the extraordinary, masterful, compassionate, wise, playful souls who assist me
when I'm in at SLYN and justin Michael and Christie

(04:58):
and Carla are my dream team, and we recently met
and it came together in Cincinnati and did a deep
dive and did ky initiations, and so I taught them
rakey and it was a way to give back to them,
like to to bless them for all how they've supported
of my teachings, how they supported the students, and I
just wanted them to have this extraordinary gift of Frankie

(05:19):
that I've talked about on this podcast before. And um,
at one point we're talking how cool it is, and
it feels so amazing to receive, and it feels so
amazing to give. Raki like ky is just good all
the way around. And one of one of the members
of the Dream Team said, you know, out of all
the gifts and everything you teach, to Row is still
my favorite, you know. So this aspect of to Row

(05:44):
is this like foundation when I talk about being the
foundational tool. And I said, that's so great to know, Like, well,
why is it your favorite? And this jam team member said,
because it's so easy. It's just right in front of you.
You don't have to guess, like you still have to
interpret the cards, but it's right in front of you.
It's so clear as opposed to meditation or symbols or

(06:05):
you know, anything else. Like the cards just put all
your messages right in front of you, which makes it
like so user friendly and you can get out of
your head and just let the messages move through you
and guide you in this most extraordinary way. And because
every time I teach, I learn, I am always updating

(06:26):
my work work, right, So I'm going through and nuancing
the words and weaving in the feedback that I've gotten
from the dream team, because all three of them have
taken all these classes from me before, and they're like, friend,
I remember when you said it this way that really
helped me before, and so like they'd bring these other
voices into the class that I spoke during different classes.
I'm trying to weave it all together and create this,

(06:46):
you know, great guide for the students. So that's what
I've been doing. And this is why Terrow is so
on my mind. And when I think about micro journey
that um, you know, I've told this before, but just
to repeat it, just because again it's so in my
as I'm holding this space for people to find their

(07:07):
own connection to Trow at the beginning of their journey.
I'm remembering the beginning of my journey, of course, right,
that's just the natural way it works. And I'm remembering
when Cap Flannery A. K. Meredith of the Office right
bought me. We were roommates, and she bought me this
Tarrow reading in a coffee shop, you know, on Oakdale

(07:28):
in Chicago, because that's where we lived, and how that
reading guided me for two years. It was you know,
probably a ten minute reading and it just guided me
through the next two and a half years through my
MBA program and then the minute I left NBA school
and relocated in Dallas and got my job, my corporate job,
and you know, one of the first weekends there, I

(07:48):
found a TROW teacher that said, I can't wait to
start my next step with this extraordinary tool because I
had never I didn't know the word to row, I'd
never heard of it. I didn't understand this tool. I
have no idea how Katie did she just you know,
it was out in the World War I guess than
I was. But um, anyhow, it was such a huge gift.

(08:11):
And I think about, you know, all the stories I'm
hearing from you, all about how you're being guided and
being awakened, and whether it's through your dreams or meditation
or signs that show up or things that happen on
your phone. Like you you share all these stories which
I we love hearing. Um. You know, whether d MS
or emails or how would ever it come. But you know,

(08:32):
when you all find your way of opening. And I
think back to those times of without Katie, I wonder
how I would have found my way. It's possible I
even missed many steps before Katie said I'm going to
buy you this for your birthday. There are things that

(08:52):
probably missed along the way. But eventually we all find
our way of where we're supposed to be, how we
are to engage in the energetics or in the physical world. Right,
it doesn't matter if it's your career, your spouse, your
area of study, of whatever it is. And so I
just am remembering the beginning of my journey and that

(09:15):
sacred path and that with so much gratitude in my heart,
like I can't imagine my life without to row um.
So that's what I wanted to say. That's what we're
gonna talk about a little bit I've got. I'm gonna
do a couple of spreads that will just to show
you how it gets articulated and activated in my daily
world and perhaps in yours. So if you're a tour

(09:39):
o reader, when you hear this, make sure you dm
me share with some some great spreads or guidance you've
got from your tour spreads and how you engage with
your cards. I'd love to hear. And we're gonna take
a break and I'll be right back and welcome back

(10:00):
to myself, who hopefully is listening and healthy by the
time she hears this. So um. So this is just
a small way of how I would turn to to ron.
But when I thought about doing this episode so low,
I was like, no, I don't want to please get
better my elf, you know, So I wasn't excited about that.

(10:24):
But of course what I did is I turned to
the cards and I said, is this it's okay? And
it's to row a good topic or have I already
talked about this enough to bore people? And what I
got was this three card spread. And it's not often
I'll break down when I'm doing readings. I don't break
down the cards one by one. This means this, this

(10:44):
means that. But I imagine I have a few harrow
readers out there, so I'm going to go ahead and
break down just this three card spread. So the first
card is a night of Air, and the Night of
Air is all about chatter. It's a sign of Gemini, right,
so a lot of words, it's a lot of it
correlates to the sign of Gemini, and so it's a

(11:05):
lot of words and it's being able to chat up
anybody and have you know, engagement, and this is this
was a really important affirmation for me because sometimes I
can go into a situation and just bottom line things
like this is the bottom line, This is the only
thing you need to pay attention to, which makes for
a very short podcast. And so this is why myself

(11:26):
is such a great partner for me, because she has
all the words and you know, can spend great stories
and drive to the origin story on anything. It's it's
one of her many gifts. So this was an affirmation
that said to me, Okay, this sounds like that they'll
have support to actually do a full podcast. So that
was good. And then so the energy underneath that card,

(11:47):
so that's that's the issue. Then the energy underneath the
current that underneath that card actually the aid of water,
and the aid of water is um it's not a
full on grieving card, but it's a sad card, like
there's there's sadness in the card. Something's missing. So you
could be longing for something, you could be longing for

(12:11):
your true self like it's it's not like I have
to be long for someone else, but sometimes it's a
longing like I've abandoned myself. I need to find my
way back. But for me, I took this as I
really am missing myself and her playfulness and her ability
to crack me up I know what I know, um,
and her So I'm missing her even though I'm obviously

(12:35):
sharing my love to row with you. And so I
just I thought, um, you know, some people would take
this as you know, the sorrowful card, as like, hey,
don't don't do this, this is this is going to
be sad. Of course I'm sad to do this without
my elf, um, but also like to know that it's
okay to talk about being sad, like it's okay to

(12:58):
bring that into the podcast, because I'm sure you're missing
her voice to or pointfulness in this way. And then
the so that's the card underneath, and so it's important
to know like even this little banter or chatter that
I am bringing is really rooted and has the presence

(13:18):
of missing uh Julie's wisdom and poyfulness and um yeah
all that. So the outcome, however, the outcome, the highest
good available in me trying this podcast is the card
of the moon, right, and the moon is one of

(13:40):
the major Arcanic cards, and the this is like the
big impact part of row. Right, we have these twenty
two keys or cards that give us access to major
life lessons. So when the highest outcome shows up as
a major Arcanic card, you would want to pay attention like, Oh,
there's there's something more to this little three card spread

(14:02):
that says there's more available to you to learn, to
expand into, to bring into that. You that this process is,
whatever you're undertaking, whatever you're inquiring about, will bring you
access to another expansion, another layer that perhaps you haven't
fully accessed. And I would have from that because clearly
I've never done a solo episode before. So when I

(14:25):
think about the energy, particularly of the Moon card, it
is all about trusting your intuition all the things we
talk about here all the time. Trust your guidance, trust
your intuition, trust your instincts, trust your psychic knowing all
that that says, dive into the unseen, and trust the

(14:47):
illumination from within what would not be seen by the
physical eyes, but can be felt by the expansive heart.
That can be felt by trusting your vision with your
eyes closed, right, that inner vision that's psychic um clairvoyance. Right, Um,
that's what's you know, I'm being challenged and offered by

(15:10):
stepping forward in this particular way that says this is
what's available. And so it's just interesting to me that
the card underneath the Night of Air is this eight
of Water and then the moon. Understanding that the moon
is like the ruler of water, right, the mood, So
even though it's not in the suit of water, it's

(15:32):
actually rules the suit of water, right because it rules
our emotions. You know how the full moon will get
everyone all amped up, lots of emotional sensitivity, lots of
crazy driving, lots of disrupted sleep, like this is what
happens during a falloon. And so when the moon shows
up like overarching the sorrowful card of the eight of Water,

(15:56):
it's saying you can actually heal this when you dive
in and trust. So that's what I'm doing here, I'm
diving in and trusting. And so this this looked to
me like it was pretty much a go with the
the air energy of the Night of Air saying I'll
have words, I'll be able to tell stories, even though
I'll have no feedback or guidance or inspiration from Julie.

(16:19):
And even though I'm sad I miss her, as I'm
sure you are. But the guidance of the move that says,
and don't forget to talk about the intuition, and I
don't forget to invite people into their intuition, even when
it's scary to share who and what you're getting, go
ahead and do that. And of course, because as I said,

(16:42):
I was a little respect doing this, I wanted to
throw one more card, as I know, I know many
many many of my students will send me their pictures
of their readings and say, and then I threw three,
three more cards. I usually just do one more so
I don't go crazy in my head. But the next
hard that I threw was the Night of Water, and

(17:04):
I took that again as this affirmation of healing the nervousness,
because it is the you know, an emotional card, an
emotional bomb that says, even though you don't you haven't
been here before, you don't have a lot of experience
of just taking up this air time and it's a
little scary, You've got support. You've got this emotional support
um to guide through the sorrow of the aida water

(17:27):
with the moon magic and the Night of Water, so
lots of emotional support. So I hope you're feeling the
confidence that the cards are giving me to keep talking
and sharing. Um, but this is a way, just the
smallest way. Right, Is this the right episode? Um? Is
this something to talk about? Right? This is how I

(17:47):
turned to the cards and just day to day. And
if that sounds like something that would be valuable to you,
please think about studying to row with me or anybody else.
But having this guidance in your world is so valuable.
And you what happens is the more you use it,
not only do you know the cards better, but you

(18:08):
get to see the language of how you'll specifically engage
with your cards. You'll see the playfulness, You'll see the seriousness,
You'll see the guidance, and it just keeps getting activated
over and over and over with every little spread. That's
what I'd have you think about. And I just want
to walk you through this specific example of who I'm

(18:29):
a little nervous? Is this the right thing to do?
Boom boom boom, Night of Air, eight of Water, the
Moon with the comfort of the Night of Water as well.
So with that, we're gonna take a little break and
I'll be right back and welcome back. Welcome back to

(18:53):
my elf, because you know she always thinks it's for
her anyhow, So welcome back my olf. Um. So there's
so many ways that you can use the cards. Obviously,
learning how to do spreads is one way, but also
never underestimate the power of just pulling one card. Again,

(19:16):
I recently had a conversation with the student who's like,
you know, this really deep question, and I've been asking
my cards over and over and over and then when finally,
you know, when it came right before this thing was
about to go down, I'm he says, I'm gonna pull
one card, only one card, Like, just give it to
me straight. I'm not gonna get my head and think
about it. I'm just gonna pull one card. And it
was very funny because it was a card that had

(19:36):
just kept coming up over and over and all the
spreads he had done all week. So, um, when it's
so clear, it's not like the universe is laughing at you,
they're laughing with you. Hopefully when at that point when
it comes up for the fourth time in a week,
and so it's so beautiful and humbling and inspiring because
it's like, wow, there's so much in the energetic world,

(19:58):
and the trow really helps us translate the energetic into
the physical and make it super clear. So that's one
thing that I love. So of course, um I wanted
to do a spread for our listeners, and so again
I just said, okay, so did the blessing and what
is the highest good for what would be helpful, what

(20:22):
would be meaningful for the audience, And so I'm going
to walk you through that small spread as well, just
as I'd like. I like to keep spreads really simple
unless someone's doing you know, I'm doing a full hour session,
and then I would do my ten cards spread. But
this is just a three cards spread. And again, but
in three cards you get a lot of information, hopefully
you can see. So the four of Earth that says, hey,

(20:45):
whatever you've got going on this week, let it be steady,
Just let it be really steady. Stick to your plan.
But one ft in front the other. Don't go crazy.
Even if you're inspired by something, even if the vision
that you're moving towards is really big, let it be okay.
Let it be just fine. That you just have to

(21:08):
take one step and then the next and set up
the foundation, maybe bring in some people, Maybe make a
presentation of how you're going to enroll people into your vision,
and whether it's like I need babysitting or I need
a budget, whatever it is like, to bring it in
in a way that they understand the full picture. Take
it step by step, because the truth is, I don't

(21:30):
think you really know how big this is going to
be because you have so many things to take care
of in the step by step by step that's needed.
You may even need some expertise that says I've helped
people down this path before, or I've been down this
path before, and you really need this other system, of

(21:54):
this other piece of equipment or something. You need something
that you don't exactly have, And with this little upgrade
you can continue your journey, but give yourself the time
and space to enjoy the journey. I know that sounds
really try and annoying because it seems like the vision

(22:16):
is big and gonna be bigger now. Of course, some
of this may be coming off the new moon we
have coming up in Aquarius, which is all about or
that that we just came off of, right, that is
all about how do I commit to my tribe, how
do I commit to delivering to my community? And it

(22:37):
could be you know, the three people in your family.
It could be a local community, it could be a
global community. It doesn't matter, like who are my people
that I'm committed to delivering to. But even big, small,
totally transformative things have to have a plan or a container,
even when you're innovating. So you're creating something that's far

(23:00):
beyond what is that you don't know exactly the form
it is going to take, but you know the needed
tess to serve. It still needs containers and boundaries in
order to cook, to be helped otherwise. You know, I
always use the the analogy that it's like water on pavement.
It goes everywhere. Water you can do a lot of
damage when it goes everywhere, as everyone in California knows.
But what we want to do is really create the container.

(23:24):
We're setting things up, so we talk about it, we
make a plan, we make maybe schematics something that says
this is what has to happen in order for this
other thing to unfold, to take shape, to expand into
So that's the first step that you're gonna do is
really um create the foundation even though, and if you're

(23:45):
not a foundation person, if you're like I'm a big
picture person, I'm the inspirational person. That's fine, Like, don't
feel bad about that, don't apologize for that, But get
yourself a foundation person, someone who thinks step by step,
someone who can keep you on the path, going one
step at a time while you keep driving towards the vision.
But they're giving you the steps so that you don't

(24:08):
go off the rails. They're keeping you literally between the
lines and giving you words so that you can explain
it to others, because there are going to be people
that come into your space, right, Um, yeah, like Lulu.
You may have heard her. She just woke up and
and wiggle her chain and shook off her her chain

(24:28):
her not chain color. Sorry, that's the word, her color.
So I'm probably gonna start barking in a minute because
I'm sure it's close to her dinner time. But with these,
with these, with the framework, with the foundation that you,
if you can't create, find someone you can, and then
you bring in these other people and you have to
no matter how much you love this idea and you
want to do it all yourself, it is not going

(24:50):
to go as well, and it won't go as far
if you don't create some spaciousness for some other people.
If you are a foundation person, someone they you're gonna
bring in is probably someone who's very aspirational, who's very dynatic, dynamic,
very charismatic, someone who can see what's not there and
and design for that. If you are that creative, dynamic person,

(25:15):
you're going to bring in the foundational person. Right, So
we have balanced energy. That's what's required. So again, think
back to what you're doing on our new moon and
think about what you held in your heart. What is
you creating. It doesn't matter if you're creating something for yourself,
whether it's a wellness plan, whether it's a educational plan

(25:35):
or career plan, whatever, it is, calling the balancing energy
to help you consider or see what's not there, and
that's how you will go forward. That's how you will
see not only the possibility of how your vision takes shape,
but you're also going to see the deep purpose that

(25:58):
perhaps isn't even available in the moment that you had
the vision, you had the inspiration and be like, oh
my gosh, this is actually bigger than I thought. This
is something There was a piece that I actually wanted
a long time ago, but I didn't see that it
was actually attached to this little thing that I'm talking

(26:21):
about and committing to. Wow, I'm now, I'm so excited.
This is taking care of a lot of my energy,
a lot of my vision, a lot of my creativity
is going to call on all of me and bring
so much back to me, back to my community. It's
so My point is this is a multipurpose effort. If
you felt that I um, I recently talked to someone

(26:42):
who talked about I just had this like fire in
my belly, but I don't know what it's about. That's
kind of the energy that I have here in this spread,
and so I share it with you and I broke
it down like in all these different ways. Because it's big,
it's are they of committing to It doesn't mean that
it's a fast process. This is not going to be

(27:04):
done in six weeks. Chances are good, may not be
done in six months. It could be done in six years.
Like everyone's different, right, This is obviously a global era,
universal type reading. So it's a little hard. But I'm
telling you the foundational pieces that expand as is you
hold this vision with spaciousness to bring in balancing energy,

(27:28):
to invite people to contribute to your ultimate vision. And
that's how it gets elevated to serving your sole purpose
on a higher level, in dimensions and ways that you
couldn't have created or planned for or accommodated until you
get there. So allow for the expansion, allow for the

(27:48):
affirmation to unfold with delight, with curiosity throughout the entire process,
even though it could be balload of work like exhausting,
I didn't never work this hard in my life, or
it could unfold easily with grace and ease. I don't
know what it is. You'll have to get back to me,
so d M comment let me know. But in this way,

(28:10):
the energy is so sweet and so supportive. And I
hope you found this helpful, and I hope you can
hold this small reading in a spacious way that guides
you and supports you as you walk through step by step,
allowing the focus on the vision that you currently have

(28:31):
to keep you on the trail, on the on the journey,
and be spacious to invite others in because that can
be really scary, because like God, I don't want to
lose control, but if you don't have expertise in an
area and you are so committed to the vision, you
have to create more space. So remember that. So that's

(28:52):
the spread for today. Thank you for listening, and I
