Speaker 1 (00:03):
I try my hardest to push the point that I
am a feminist. I really think it's important that people
know that the women in this industry are empowered. They
run it. Man, It's awesome. It's only a matter of
time before women take over the industry altogether.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Jenna Jamison, Welcome to jenal World. Welcome back to Jenna World.
I'm your host, Mollie Lambert. This is episode eight Club Jenna.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
When I first met Jenna, I thought she was very cute,
but I thought she was young and a little Braddy
Jay Gardina director.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
He struck me as the most arrogant, irritating man I
had ever met.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Jenna is back in Las Vegas for another convention. This
time it's the Video Software Dealers Association trade Show. She's
at a water park on Vicodin with Nikki Tyler and
Jill Kelly for a bikini party called Wet and Wild.
The party at the water park is the Vegas equivalent
of a can yacht party, a place for adult biz
(01:32):
folks to mingle with fans and potential film investors. After
her Jordan's Crazy Girl era in Miami, Jenna has sworn
off falling in love, but then from across the water park,
she's bewitched by a six foot one hunk she recognizes
(01:52):
as Jay Gardina, a libra. Jay Gardina is a porn
screenwriter and director who works on under the name Justin Sterling.
His parents immigrated from Carlovak Croatia to Wooster, Ohio, where
he was born into a cattle ranching dynasty. He attends
Catholic prep school Gilmour Academy in Ohio and then matriculates
(02:15):
at the University of San Diego, where he double majors
in psychology and business. After college, he moves to Los
Angeles to try to get work as a male model.
Jay Gardina then meets porn director Michael Nin and starts
producing Nin's adult films. Michael Nin is a music video
(02:35):
director for Capitol Records who moves into porn, directing glossy,
high end music videoe adult films with fetishware elements. He
directs movies like Latex, which comes with a CD ROM
game where you can point and click to see various
sex scenes. Jay Gardina also starts directing titles like nineteen
(02:57):
ninety six's Ksex one oh six point nine one and
the nineteen ninety seven sequel Ksex one oh six point
nine two under the stage name Michael Santangelo for a
studio called Ultimate Video.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I actually thought about being a priest when I was
a kid, but when I was thirteen or fourteen, something
went wrong. I came into the industry in nineteen eighty
two as an investor because a friend was shooting a
porn movie. I wanted to learn about filmmaking, so I
started working for him on the crew as a video tech.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
In nineteen ninety eight, Jake Ardina leaves La and takes
a break from working in film, citing burnout from porn's
one hundred hour work weeks. He moves to Arizona, where
his wealthy Croatian family now resides. He's dating Chasey Lane,
Jenna's contract girl predecessor at Wicked Pictures.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
He owned a film studio that we show a lot
of my movies at, and I would always see him
running around like a maniac.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
She'd come on set and she would control the crew.
You know, I'm seeing this like, no one's gonna come
on my set and tell me what to do, especially
the talent. This is my show. And she was powerful.
So it was always that butting heads.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
In their handful of interactions. Jenna has found Jay to
be cocky and entitled, like rich boys are. She's also
heard he's into very rough sex. She's wary, but when
she sees Jay at the water park hanging with Tet
Boy and some other vivid performers, he catches her eye again.
(04:39):
Jill Kelly is there with Jenna, and on Jenna's request,
she tells Jay that Jenna thinks he's cute.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
When I spotted him at the Wet and Wild party,
it was like seeing him for the first time.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
We didn't hit it up very well.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Despite her reservations about pursuing romance again, Jenna slips back
down the rushing water slide of desire. Jenna and Jay
tell slightly differing stories about a botched attempt at a
late night hookup that left both of them feelings stood up,
followed by a morning reconciliation in the warm glow of
(05:21):
the slot machines on the casino floor of the Venetian Resort.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Talking to her was different than I expected. She was cool, intelligent, articulate,
and funny.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
I think that he was surprised by a lot of
the things I had to say. I remember thinking, what
am I doing? I'm gonna fall in love with this guy?
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And I was like, Okay, we'll see what happens. So
we started talking.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
They eventually take the conversation upstairs. Jenna does not like
to be bossed around in bed or anywhere else for
that matter, but she makes an exception for Jay Gardina
because he seems like he's really listening to her and
paying close attention to what actually gets her off. Then
(06:11):
Jay goes back home to Phoenix and ghosts Jenna, who
is super fucking annoyed. To get her stagnating career back
out of the mud. Jenna is doing feature dances again
at a Vegas strip club called Crazy Girls. Her roommate
and alleged BFF, Nicki Tyler, has fallen off the grid.
(06:32):
Jenna has become very self conscious about some weight that
she gained in Miami. She begins starving herself, eating nothing
but energy bars, lettuce, and increasingly vicodins.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Nicky and I call them three fifty seven magnums because
they had a three fifty seven printed on them and
felt like a gunshot to the stomach.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Jenna's tolerance for Vicodin keeps right the more often she
takes them and she's popping the pills like candy. Tommy
Lee from Motley Crue is a customer at Crazy Girls
one night and invites Jenna to come see him play.
By the late nineties, hair metal like Motley's is dead,
(07:17):
buried deep, and trod over by the Doc Martins of
millions of grunge and alternative rock bands.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
On a hopeless fucking romantic That's a part of me
that a lot of people don't know about. They know
everything there is to know about another part of me,
but not a thing about my heart. Tommy Lee Musician.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Tommy Lee is coming off his marriage to Pamela Anderson,
which ended in divorce after accusations of Tommy's domestic violence.
He is still touring with Motley Crue, who are out
of the zeitgeist but becoming a nostalgia act for their
aging eighties fans. He's on the verge of quitting his
gig drumming for Motley Crue to start a rap rock
(08:07):
group called Methods of Mayhem. While Tommy Lee is one
of Jenna's longest running rockstar fantasy crushes from MTV. When
she gets the chance to hook up with him, she's
barely cognizant.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
After the show, I took three more pills on the
elevator up to the after party. My head began to
spin and I felt like I could walk through doors
and windows.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Jenna is way too fucked up to enjoy her night
with Tommy Lee. In fact, she's not conscious for most
of it. She keeps blacking in and out, which is
obviously horrifying. She also has a newish piercing on her clit,
and it's still so sensitive that it's painful to have
sex with famously well endowed stick man Tommy Lee. But
(08:57):
what really freaks Jenna out isn't the pain in her
or that she barely remembers last night. It's waking up
in the hotel with Tommy Lee's spooning her. She's still
repulsed by any kind of sensitivity or emotional neediness from men,
especially cuddling. She hates cuddling. Her own internalized misogyny runs
(09:19):
so deep that she judges men harshly for showing any
soft feelings or wanting to be vulnerable. With her ew
coming down from the drugs and her horrific night that
she doesn't really remember, Jenna bursts into tears after she's
photographed in close proximity to Tommy Lee at Crazy Girls.
(09:41):
She goes back on the Howard Stern Show and totally
denies having had sex with Tommy.
Speaker 5 (09:49):
Have you ever fucked Tommy Lee, let's get to it. No,
you've never had sex with them.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
No, but you go out and rub each other down
in public?
Speaker 5 (09:58):
I he Have you performed oral sex on Tommy Lee?
Speaker 3 (10:04):
No?
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Have you performed lesbian ax in front of Tommy Lee?
Speaker 6 (10:08):
No?
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Well kind of, because he came to one of my shows.
Speaker 5 (10:12):
Okay, but have you ever had an affair with Tommy Lee?
Speaker 7 (10:15):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:16):
You're not sleeping with Tommy Lee.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
No.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
Why would you not sleep with Tommy Lee as he
asked you to sleep with him?
Speaker 1 (10:22):
Well, I'm sure he wants to. I mean he's been
pursuing me.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
Oh yeah, sure, all right, he has been. Have you
kissed him?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
No.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
They question her further about whether she and Tommy Lee
have a romantic relationship, and she denies it. Jenna tells
them Tommy Lee merely came by her show at Crazy Girls,
came backstage to meet her, flirted, and left. She says
he did not get to touch her body at all.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
Nothing Wow, fascinating, You're so good looking.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
He's such a great guy. He's really a great guy.
Speaker 8 (11:04):
Ask Pam.
Speaker 5 (11:06):
He's uh, did he talk to you about Pam? What
happened with him and Pam? Did he push her down
those steps or something? Or puncher or something.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
He doesn't really bring her up.
Speaker 5 (11:15):
You don't bring it up. You don't say to him, hey,
let's have a fight.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Jenna laughs off some really awful riffing about whether she
can take a punch, and then Howard asks her seriously
if she's lying about this whole Tommy Lee thing. She
swears she's telling the truth, but her voice does get
a little high and strange when she says it.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Are you lying to me? Let me square in the eye.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I'm not lying, Howard.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
You're not. You wouldn't lie to me right after what
we've been through together and what we've meant to each other.
Would you lie to me?
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Of course I wouldn't lie to you.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
Well, then, okay, there you have it, because I don't
want you fucking him.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Jenna's refusal to claim Tommy Lee in public means he
cannot embarrass her on the record. Jenna knows rock stars
are not good boyfriend material because she knows they're obsessed
with conquests and collecting sexual trophies. Plus they're always being
propositioned by groupies. But Tommy Lee isn't like most male
(12:18):
rock stars. He loves to be in love, so he
persists inviting Jena to parties just in case she changes
her mind. Then she does.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Sober I found him to be incredibly cool and sexy,
happy go lucky maniac who also happened to be irritatingly affectionate.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
While she's supposed to be getting her career going again.
Jenna decides to toss that plan aside and get on
the tour bus with Tommy Lee and Motley, crue fulfilling
her teenage fantasy of being a concubine for hair metal gods,
even if they're well past their glory days by now.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
Only a few years before, I was sitting on my
brother's shoulder at the Girl's Girls Girls concert in Vegas,
hoping to be noticed and taken backstage.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
On the tour bus, she talks to Motley's bassist, Nikki
six six is married to playboy playmate turned Baywatch star
Donna de Rico, who years later fulfilled a lifelong dream
of climbing Turkey's Mount Ara Rat to search for the
frozen remains of Noah's Arc. She did not find it. Meanwhile,
(13:37):
back in California, one of Jenna's business ventures has gone
off track. Scamps, the strip club in Anaheim that her
father and uncle were running using her name and brand
to promote, shuts down. Suddenly, Scamps is either closed by
the city of Anaheim, where right wingers, conservative Christians, and
Disney adult freaks try to enforce a family friendly climate,
(14:02):
or possibly by Jenna's sketchball uncle taking the club's money
and running off. While Jenna didn't love having her dad
Larry working at Scamps because he got into doing hard
drugs there himself after a lifetime of being a clean
living cop, the end of Scamps leaves Jenna's whole remaining family,
(14:22):
her father, brother, and sister in law without any income.
Jenna has become the sole breadwinner for the entire Massoli
clan since she manically built herself a mansion in Miami.
When she thought she'd be Jay's crazy girl forever. She
offers to put them all up there. Then she gets
(14:43):
a call from Jay Gardina unghosting her a month later.
While she knows Jay Gardina disappearing after their first rendezvous
is not a great sign, Jenna's also had enough of
road dogging it with cuddly ass Tommy Lee. She is
admittedly curious if the intense chemistry she felt with Jay
(15:04):
the first time will also reappear. Will Jenna give Jay
another chance? After considering her options, she agrees to meet
up with him. It's not just Jenna bringing porn to
the mainstream. Other porn stars are making appearances in mainstream media.
(15:25):
There is a lot of crossover between porn and the
music business. A lot of the recording studios are even
located in the San Fernando Valley, in the same jungle
of industrial zones and strip malls as the porn industry,
and for the same reason it's cheaper. When we return
(15:47):
the Tale of Jeanine Linda Moulder, Oh go to Gena World.
In nineteen ninety nine, a porn star named Janine Linda
(16:10):
Molder appears in the music video for What's My Age
Again by the San Diego pop punk band Blink one
eighty two. After appearing in a nurse outfit putting on
a medical rubber glove on the cover of their album
Enema of the State. The music video for What's My
Age Again plays constantly on MTV, and thus Janine is
seen on the channel's teen focused video countdown show Total
(16:34):
Request Live, where punk pop and new metal videos are
shown alongside bubblegum pop videos by pop stars like Britney Spears.
Speaker 6 (16:44):
We wanted to have a sexy nurse on the cover,
and we were looking at models and playboy girls, and
we were like, well, if we're gonna get a sexy
girl for the cover, let's get a vivid girl. Mark Hoppus,
Blink one eighty two.
Speaker 9 (17:01):
I wasn't thrilled with legitimate movies. I didn't care for
the people. They were shallow and didn't care about people's feelings.
Janine Linda Moulder performer.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Janine Marie Linda Moulder is a vivid girl who has
a lot in common with Jenna, and whose porn career
predates Jenna's by a few years. Jenna has been called
Janine's disciple. Like Jenna, Janine also appeared on The Howard
Stern Show and had a bit role in his movie
Private Parts. Janine is also a tattooed blonde rocker chick
(17:37):
who started stripping after high school. Unlike Jenna, Janine is tall,
a five foot eight scorpio from Lamarada, California, and also
unlike Jenna, Janine says she had an idyllic, suburban southern
California childhood.
Speaker 9 (17:54):
I'd tell the normal things you do. While growing up,
I was always on a softball team. My dad was coach,
my mom is the manager, and I won four scholarships
for softball. Of course, there were some problems. Every family
is dysfunctional, but I only have happy memories.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Janine moves to La to become an actress. She lands
a few screaming bimbo roles in b movies like Porky's
Ripoff Lauderdale and Ernest borgnine mob movie Moving Target. She
is featured in Penthouse as Pet of the Month in
nineteen eighty seven and parlays it into adult films. At first,
(18:34):
she works with male performers, but after getting pregnant allegedly
from unprotected sex on screen, she decides to do only
lesbian scenes. In the early nineties, she becomes legendary for
her girl on girl scenes in Where the Boys Aren't
and dates Vince Neil from Motley crue.
Speaker 9 (18:54):
I went in a Vivid in ninety three known exactly
what I was willing to do, and I never faltered
from that.
Speaker 8 (19:00):
I said, this is it, Take it or leave it.
Speaker 9 (19:03):
They would joke around from time to time, but it
was never up for negotiation. I wasn't trying to be
a hard ass, but I was clear that I didn't
want people trying to persuade me into something I wasn't
ready to do. They always knew that when I was ready,
I would come to them, and that is exactly what
I did.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Janine and her stripping partner Julia Anne make Vivid feature Blondage,
which is like Purple Reen about their strip club act Blondage,
Janine finds that she doesn't like being famous. People feel
entitled to her time because they've seen her on screen.
They act like they know her personally, and like that
(19:43):
means she owes them something too. She just wants to
do a job.
Speaker 9 (19:49):
I could recognize at malls, grocery stores, at red lights,
any place where there is a line and people have
time to recognize me. I don't want that. I just
want to have sex on film.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
In nineteen ninety nine, Janine announces she is retiring from
porn to become a kindergarten teacher.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
I could be not just a porn star, but a
porn CEO.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
In May of nineteen ninety nine, Jenna receives a career
Achievement award at the Hot Doors, Returning to the site
of her earliest triumphs in Can, Jenna holds a black
and white vinyl bowling bag purse and wears a shimmery
white halterneck catsuit with white heels to the red carpet
for the Hot Doors at Can. This time she is
(20:42):
hoisted up holding her two Golden Hot Door awards. The
Hot Doors event is covered in a story by The
Hollywood Reporter titled Porn But Not Forlorn, where the writer
admits that the world of porn might just be a
fringe film in disy, with its own cast of characters
and award circuit, rather than the unsalvageable hellhole it was
(21:06):
generally portrayed as in mainstream media for decades. Following the
brief seventies flare of porn. Cheek Jay Gardina comes to
La to scoop Jenna and drives them back to Phoenix.
He takes Jenna to his parents for Thanksgiving. Sure, it
seems a little crazy to introduce a girl to your
entire family a month after you had sex for the
(21:27):
first time and then ghosted her for another month, But
to Jenna, it feels like a grand, romantic gesture and
she wants to see if he can follow through. Something
besides cuddling that makes Jenna uncomfortable is people who have close, openly, loving,
and supportive relationships with their families. Jay is super tight
(21:51):
with his parents, who have been married forever, and unlike Jenna,
Jay grew up rich and was provided with a stable
home life like Jenna never got to have. Jenna has
never had a traditional Thanksgiving family dinner in her life,
and it makes her feel weird being around other people
who do. Jay and Jenna split off from the Gardina
(22:15):
family Thanksgiving and go to the place Jay shares with
his brother in Phoenix, and then their romance really begins.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
We went to his brother's bachelor pad, shut ourselves into
a leopard print bedroom, and put on a Joe CD.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
This would most likely be the Joe album My Name
Is Joe, the one with hit single Stutter. Incredible choice.
Jenna and Jay hole up in a bedroom to get
familiar again. She says, they listen to the Joe album
ten times in a row because I'm a great investigative journalist.
(22:54):
I did the legwork here and the Joe album is
like an hour long, so they sex for ten hours.
For Jenna, having sex with Jay Gardina is very different
from the sex she has on camera at work and
most of the sex she's had in prior relationships. It's
because she really likes him. It's not just a physical
(23:16):
attraction or someone who conveniently wants to do stuff for her.
Jenna feels like she's finally met her match, and then,
for the first time in her life, Jenna enjoys cuddling
with a man. She lets herself be truly vulnerable and
surprises herself by liking it.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
When we embraced it was as if a bubble formed
around us and the rest of the world disappeared. I've
been missing out on this my whole life.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
The most important thing about Jenna is that she's a
real person, and she's by far the sexiest woman to
ever step foot on this planet.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
If they spend the rest of the Thanksgiving trip having
anal sex and water skiing in that order, While Jenna
doesn't do anal sex in her movies, she does it
with Jay as a sign of intimacy and trust. Jay
asks Jenna to come live with him in Phoenix, but
Jenna still feels too emotionally raw. Every time she lets
(24:21):
herself really open up to a man, he starts trying
to control her. She's afraid of being fully exposed the
way real love requires, and her own internalized misogyny makes
her feel like it's weak of her to have emotions
besides anger lust and stoic repression. So then it's Jenna's
turn to shut down emotionally and bail. She runs away
(24:45):
from Phoenix and Jay, Gerdina and her big, uncontrollable emotions,
and gets back on the tor bus with Motley Crue
to put more fuck distance between herself and her feelings
for Jay. She goes back to having sex with Ti
Lee and starts fucking a famous female rock star on
the side too.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
How could he do this to me? How could he
sign those girls without talking to me?
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Then Jenna sees in the porn trade papers that Wicked
Pictures has signed three new Wicked contract girls without getting
permission from Jenna, as stipulated in her contract. Jenna curses
Steve Ornstein out to Joy King, who's still her publicist,
but even Jenna knows how hard she's become to work with.
(25:35):
She's turned into a difficult, unreliable diva who might show
up late to set or not at all, just like
her hero Savannah, who burned out hard and fast. Jenna
returns home to La where she still shares a place
with Nikki Tyler, whose toxic druggy boyfriend is always around.
(25:57):
Jenna is furious about Wicked hiring the new contract girls.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
I had believed that it was all about me, that
I was Wicked Pictures, but Steve was Wicked Pictures and
always had been.
Speaker 10 (26:14):
There are plenty of beautiful women who are ready, willing
and able to shoot sex. I'm not signing someone to
have sex, though that is the job. I'm signing a
company representative. Wherever this person goes, they're representing Wicked Steve
Ornstein Wicked Pictures.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Jenna knows that her frustration with Jay is partially her
frustration with tanking her own porn career. Having established herself
once isn't enough in an industry where starlets are seen
as a replaceable commodity and novelty as king, Jenna has
to work harder than ever now to get back on top.
(26:56):
She has to execute a classic show business move, a
big comeback. Jenna recognizes she's no longer top priority at
Wicked Pictures. She now sees only the downsides of working
with a big name studio. She feels like Steve Ornstein
profited off her work to an unfair extent.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
I will not stand by and watch this motherfucker get
rich off me.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
She's no longer the biggest fish at Wicked Pictures, and
that means it's time to move on. She's particularly mad
that Steve Ornstein hired someone she dislikes to run her
website because she knows that the future of porn is
moving online. Adult content on the Internet is allegedly starting
to generate as much as a billion dollars per year,
(27:48):
and as an established name star, Jenna wants to cash in.
She decides to cut out the studios and start her
own company.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
It was clear to us by this that the Internet
was not just about promotion, but potentially a massive source
of profit When it comes to early adapters. The porn
industry always gets to new technology first.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
And so Jenna Jamison. After mastering stripping sexy magazines and
being a top contract girl, porn star has a new
frontier in mind, a final frontier if you will no
not outer space, cyberspace. She has a dream for a
new website and company. It will be called Club Jenna.
(28:38):
She will not only be the face and body of
Club Jenna, she will also be the boss. Will Jenna
just try to exploit the labor of adult talent like
most of the male bosses before her, or will she
set a new, more worker friendly paradigm for porn stars
in the mold of the new class of cyber pinups
(28:59):
like Danny Asha Cindy Margolis. Let's find out.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I wanted to be the head of my own company.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
When we came up with the concept for Club Jenna.
We wanted to mainstream and brand Jenna's name.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
In nineteen ninety nine, Jenna puts in her two weeks
notice with Steve Orenstein and Wicked Pictures. Ornstein accepts her resignation,
but says she still owes the company some movies. It's
the last time she ever talks to Steve Ornstein, the
man who made her a star. She fulfills her contract
obligation to Wicked by agreeing to do two more films
(29:38):
for them. Dream Quest, a high fantasy movie with special
effects directed by her ex husband Brad Armstrong, which will
have the biggest budget of any Wicked picture yet. The
other is a dialogue free lesbian fetish movie called Hell
on Heels, where Jenna has scenes with Nicki Tyler and
Asia Carrera.
Speaker 11 (30:00):
In a year marked by the return of porn legends
Ginger Lynn and Marilyn Chambers, we get a third comeback
film that has porn fans every bit as excited. Jenna
Jamison is unquestionably the biggest porn superstar of the nineteen nineties.
Her popularity is unparallel, her notoriety, reaching well beyond the
boundaries of porn. Before Jenna, it was rare to see
(30:21):
an adult film actress on a mainstream TV show or
hear them on a radio show. Now, because of her
massive appeal, we see it nearly every day.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
Roger tea pipe film critic, and although he has been
the best of her boyfriends by far, Jay Gerdina, turns
out to also have a jealous, controlling side. He doesn't
want Jenna having sex on camera with other men. For
work anymore, even though he knew what she did for
a living when they met, because he was also working
(30:52):
in porn as a producer. She storms out and he
changes the code on their security gate. He starts threatening
her and saying unhinged stuff like that he'll harm her
pet dogs. He puts her stuff in boxes for her
to take back to La where she's filming her final
Wicked films.
Speaker 11 (31:13):
After a few years away, Jenna is back in front
of the camera, working again with Brad Armstrong.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
I guess she wanted.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
To work her way back slowly, starting with a lesbian film.
Not my cup of tea, as we all know, But
how could I miss the return of Jenna Jamison. She
has assembled a collection of very good looking women who
love making it with other pretty babes for this fantasy
sequence video. Though I would much rather have seen her
in some boy girl scenes, true Jenna fans.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Should be thrilled to see her back.
Speaker 11 (31:41):
Still fucking hot and getting so much screen time.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Jenna watches her ex husband Rod Boss around his new girlfriend,
one of the new Wicked contract girls named Stephanie Swift,
a five foot four brunette aquarius from Louisiana who was
born Melody Maureen Klaus, Jenna has a scene with Stephanie
Swift and a girl named Felicia. Jenna is an emotional
(32:07):
wreck during the making of her last two features for Wicked.
Speaker 12 (32:12):
Give me a fucking break. You're not going to last
six months with this guy. This film is going to
be around forever, so let's just make the best movie possible.
Brad Armstrong.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Director Jenna White knuckles it through the Choote, then books
it back to Phoenix, where Jake Gardina does not apologize,
but doubles down on calling her a whore. So Jenna
does what she's always done. She hits the damn road
and books herself a three week feature dancing tour.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
On tour, I stayed in the most expensive hotels, rented
ferraris in every city, and racked up over forty thousand
dollars on my credit cards. But for the first time,
making money didn't cheer me up.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Running away from her feelings doesn't work this time. Even
though it's already getting toxic with Jay Gerdina, Jenna loves him,
she finds herself missing him. She ends her tour early
and goes back to Phoenix. While Jenna hates being in
a position where someone holds power and the potential to
hurt her feelings with it, she can't control her feelings
(33:27):
for Jay any longer. So yet again, Jenna decides the
solution is to hit the road and outrun real life. Despite,
or possibly because of, their prior history of being bad
influences on each other, Jenna books a strip club tour
for her and Nikki Tyler as a featured dance duo.
(33:50):
Here comes Trouble. One of their first tour stops is
a decades old strip club called The Pink Poodle in
San Jose, California, with a rough reputation and a lot
(34:11):
of really entertaining reviews on yelp.
Speaker 13 (34:15):
If it's good enough for San Jose Fire Department, it's
good enough for me. This is San Jose, not Los Angeles,
and not Las Vegas. Set your expectations accordingly and have
a great time. Yes, lap dances cost money. What an
earth shattering concept. Enjoy yourself and tip accordingly. Ralph el
(34:37):
San Ramon, California.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
The Pink Poodle was a wild place, an all nude
strip theater that was always at the epicenter of some
major scandal. The girls there were among the raunchiest performers
I've seen on stage in this country. Nicky and I
weren't willing to do much more than get fucked up
and flail all over each other on stage, so our
(35:02):
tips suffered. Accordingly, Jenna Jamison takes everything she learned from
Motley Crue about being a hard partying rock star and
applies it to her strip club tour. She and Nicky
pick up a Hell's Angel bouncer in San Jose who
goes by Mister one eight seven to be their security detail.
(35:23):
And if you know anything about rock history and the
tragedy where a young fan of the Rolling Stones was
murdered by Hell's Angels working as security at the band's
nineteen sixty nine show at the Altamont Speedway, you're aware
that hiring a Hell's Angel in northern California to do
security is a super fucking bad idea. Like a porn
(35:44):
star version of Glimmer Twins Mick Jagger and Keith Richards,
Jenna and Niki tumble like dice into the strip clubs
every night to wiggle their asses for money. Hopped up
on a vodka and vik it in cocktail, Mister one
eight seven. The Hell's Angel, whose real name is Steve Ve,
is also a middleweight boxer and former marine. His job
(36:05):
on the tour is to protect Jenna and Niki from
the consequences of their own actions. The girls are relentlessly aggressive,
mad at the world and people who have hurt them.
They get into destroying property and pushing limits on stage.
I'd smash out mirrors and dressing rooms. NICKI would clamp
(36:25):
guys in leg locks until their heads turned purple. We'd
kick drinks and guys faces, and we'd pass out on
top of each other on stage. We were as destructive
and self destructive as a rock band.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Even though their shows are a mess where they sometimes
pass out on stage between merchant tips. The girls are
allegedly raking in one hundred thousand dollars per three nights
stand at a strip club. Things start to go left
in Canada, where they allow full nudity and throw loonies,
which are the gold can dollar coins with a bird the.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
Common loon on them.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Jenna sees flung coins as a sign of disrespect, as
if someone at an American club dared to throw pennies
at her. Jenna flips the fuck out at another club
she and Nikki get arrested for simulating sex on stage.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
For us, living wild, free and fucked up wasn't about
sex like it is for most people. It was about
using our sexuality to get away with as much as
we could. Our life became a never ending bachelorette party.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
Yeah, she's fucked up all the time, not eating real
food and pretending she doesn't have to still figure out
the rest of her life, but Jenna is having fun again.
She cuts mister one eight seven loose from the tour,
which is probably for the best because he later beats
a man to death in San Jose. Despite Jamison part
(38:01):
of her stage name, Jenna has never been much of
a drinker, even in her rebellious teen years or her
meth phase, but she's drinking a bottle of vodka a
day now on tour, and it turns out that she's
a very angry drunk. On tour, all the girls do
is half ass work and go clubbing afterwards in whatever
city they're in for the night, seeking oblivion in booze
(38:24):
and pills. Jay Gardina keeps sending her roses to try
and persuade her to come back. When Jenna's dad calls
her out of the blue. She already knows what's coming.
He needs something, probably money. It turns out bounty hunters
are at the door of her Miami house. The reasons
(38:45):
for this involve a construction company her dad ran with
her uncle and brother, building million dollar mansions in the
booming suburbs of Las Vegas. Someone who Jenna earnestly believes
wasn't her dad, brother or uncle was skimming from the clients.
The construction company accrued a debt they couldn't pay back,
(39:06):
and her dad, brother, and sister in law went on
the run from the bounty hunters, who have now located
them at Jenna's house in Miami, where she said they
could stay. Larry, miss oly does want money from his
daughter to pay off the debt. It's twenty five thousand dollars,
which is nothing to Jenna, but she's still not stoked
on it.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
After that, our relationship began to reverse itself. He started
to reach out to me more while I pulled away.
I felt used by him. It seemed like he was
only calling me now that I had the money to
save him and put him up in a half million
dollar house in Florida.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Her dad gets a new girlfriend, a rich one to
mooch off of instead of Jenna. Larry Missuli quickly moves
in with his new sugar Mama at her home in
New Jersey. Jenna is let down when he doesn't make
an offer to pay Jenna back, which she'd refuse. While
he brags about the gold watch and new motorcycle his
loaded girlfriend bought him as gifts, Jenna goes out to
(40:13):
blow off some steam in New York at a legendary
night life staple called the China Club. When we return,
Jenna has a threesome with a famous comedian. Oh my God,
(40:37):
Welcome back to Jenna World. The China Club is a
spot in Manhattan that became hip in the eighties for
hosting impromptu jam sessions with musicians like David Bowie, Iggy Pop,
and Steve Winwood. In the nineties, it was an athlete hangout.
(40:57):
We're local teams like World Series champs The Yankees celebrate
with bottles of dom perignon. Jenna's roadie doses her with
ecstasy in her drink. Jenna hates ecstasy, probably because it
makes people feel cuddly and loving.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
When the e hit me, we were at the China
Club and Derek Jeter was hitting on Nicky and me.
He bored me, so I want to talk to Joe Montana,
who looked like he was one hundred years old. When
he put his hand on my leg, I realized two things.
The first is that I should never be in public
on ecstasy, and the other was that I should have
(41:38):
stayed with Derek Jeter.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Jenna doesn't go home with Joe Montana or Derek Jeter,
but instead takes home a female pet house pat named
Paige Summers. Nicky Tyler fucks a baseball player from the
Minnesota Twins. Nice. The girls make a tour pact that
next time we'll bring back one person to the room
(42:02):
for a threesome. The person they end up targeting for
the threesome is a famous actor they meet in Vegas
while in town for the Magic Fashion Trade Show.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
Not long after we arrived, I spouted Damon Wayn sitting
on a couch looking hella fine.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
Just for reference, hella fine is all one word here. Allegedly,
Nicki and Jenna make out with each other for Damon
Wayans at his Bolagio suite, but he just wants to
watch Jenna convinces him to kiss her, but it doesn't
go any further than that. When she and Nicki roll
out of the Blaggio at god knows what o'clock, Jenna
(42:43):
becomes convinced they need to go to a roadside motel
called the tam O'Shanter, where she used to go to
sketchy parties as a teenager. They pass out on the
gross motel carpet floor. Jenna keeps trying to party all
her problems away, but a touring has its own stresses too.
Being on the road all the time is chaotic, and
(43:05):
she has stalkers who try to follow her home from
the club or find out where she's staying and go
to her hotel to bang on her door late at night.
Speaker 1 (43:15):
Every night i'd go to the hotel from the club,
I am followed by at least six or seven guys.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Somebody spikes Jenna's drink at the club again, this time
not with ecstasy but a roofie, most likely GHB. Jenna
only likes to lose control on her own terms. She's
pissed she falls down on stage, but this time it's
not her fault. Jenna is pretty sure the former tool
(43:45):
roadie working as her assistant, is responsible for this dosing too.
He's certainly enjoying all the perks of life on the
road with Jenna Jamison. He trades in on her name
to get laid on the tour and tells girls he
worked for Motley Crue. He takes polaroids of the girls
he has sex with and compiles them into a book
(44:05):
of his conquests. Ew Jenna starts to think he never
really worked for tool either, and something in the accounting
milk isn't clean. He's been skimming cash from her strip
club dates. He's dragging Jenna's reputation through the mud, which
is her job. She fires him. He snitches about her
(44:28):
vicd in addiction to poorn gossip websites, but Jenna doesn't care.
He's just another bad man to banish out of her
life forever. Jenna's father calls from New Jersey to tell
her that her grandmother has died from cancer.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
She had been the closest thing I'd had to a mother,
even if she did sometimes steal Tony's coke, and to
lose her to cancer was devastating.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
Jenna decides to call her mother's side of the family
for the first time in her adult life. She calls
her grandparents' number and her uncle picks up. He informs
her that her other grandmother also died from cancer a
few weeks ago. She feels unmoored by all this tragic
family news.
Speaker 1 (45:20):
I couldn't keep escaping from the responsibility and commitment of
adulthood by finding excuses to stay on the road, Otherwise
I'd end up no better than my father.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Jenna spirals down into her darkest feelings. No amount of
Downers or vodka can stop the walls of reality from
closing in on her. She becomes paranoid she's going to
get cancer at any moment, which claimed her mother at
a young age and has now taken the lives of
both of her grandmas. She starts missing the feeling of
(45:55):
comfort and safety she felt briefly with Jay Gardina.
Speaker 1 (46:01):
I had been avoiding him because I felt like he
was someone that I could fall in love with. But
he was there for me when I needed him, like
when the bounty hunters were after my dad.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
She goes to say a final goodbye to her on
and off paramour Tommy Lee, who still keeps weirding her
out with how much he likes her and wants to
hang out together.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
It felt weird to have Tommy clinging to me all
the time. I had been such a big fan of
his as a teenager, but his neediness took all the
mystique away. When all the people you used to idolize
are hitting on you, having a crush on anyone becomes
impossible because no one is out of your league.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
Going through life solo isn't very exciting if you can't
share it with somebody you know.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
She can also sense that Tommy Lee is not over
Pamela Anderson, where the dark flip side of his love
bombing was his physical abuse of Anderson. Tommy Lee then
goes on Howard Stern Show and calls Jenna his official girlfriend,
which comes as news to her. It also fully gives
her the ick. Tommy Lee comes to see her dance
(47:18):
on tour and tries to nuzzle her. As we know
by now, the number one rule of Club Jenna is
no cuddling and no interfering with her work.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
In the middle of Home Sweet Home, he turned around
and pointed his drumstick at me. I felt nothing, and
that was when I realized that I didn't love him.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
When you're playing upside down. It takes twice the strength.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Jenna is realizing that living her teenage dream is not
all it's cracked up to be. Dating a rock star
and living on the with them was her teenage fantasy,
and even as someone also selling fantasy for a lipping,
she's still surprised when the reality isn't really glamorous at all.
She's self aware enough to know that always running away
(48:14):
is a symptom of a bigger problem.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
I was turning into a person I didn't want to be.
I was acting just like my dad did when he
drifted from partner to partner after my mom died, looking
for some way to lighten the responsibility of life without
investing any extra emotion into someone else. Jenna is ready
(48:39):
to admit what she's been repressing. She wants to settle down.
Partying and fucking rock stars has become unfun boring. Even
taking vicodin has also long ago stopped being fun, and
her tolerance has skyrocketed. Being self destructive has become such
(49:00):
a consistent, mundane experience for her that now a wholesome,
stable lifestyle sounds exotic. My career, my life, and my
environment seemed to have gone completely stale in the process
of running away from myself, I had thrown it all away.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Sick of her own bullshit cycle, Jenna decides to flush
all her pills down the toilet and go cold Turkey
on Booze and Vicoin. She spends a week in La
going through withdrawals and starts eating real food again. Nikki
Tyler is still partying and doing drugs NonStop. Jenna calls
Jake Ordina and he drives in from Phoenix that day
(49:46):
to move her out to Arizona with him.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
He made me laugh and feel like Jenna Masoli, and
I began to lower my guard and tell him things
I had never told anyone.
Speaker 2 (50:01):
Jenna feels safe and loved by Jay, but she has
absolutely no idea how to process that. She's been seeking
this kind of stability her entire life, and now that
she's found it, she can't let herself enjoy it and
feels like she's going to self sabotage, So she puts
her urge for thrill, seeking into public sex with her
(50:22):
new boyfriend at restaurants like Balthazar and clubs like bed
which is a club with beds in it, as seen
in that one episode of Sex in the City that
has Michael Showalter in it. Jenna and Jay have public
sex in a hotel pool in Miami in front of
a crowd, and covertly in a changing room of a
Beverly Hills Victoria's secret store, but Jenna's inner urge to
(50:47):
bolt before things get too serious or deep keeps resurfacing.
She doesn't know how to deal with the lack of drama.
Chaos feels so normal to her that peace feels bizarre,
so Jenna starts sabotaging the relationship with Jay, picking pointless fights,
storming out, and yelling. Neither one knows how to talk
(51:08):
to each other about their problems in an emotionally healthy way.
They get couples counseling from a friend of Jenna's who
teaches them about stuff like listening empathetically and apologizing when
you're wrong. A few months into their reunion, Jay pulls
a Jenna and bolts off suddenly with no explanation. Jenna,
(51:29):
who doesn't want to deal with this right now, throws
herself into work with another tour, but again she finds
that she can't even enjoy the luxuries of her touring lifestyle.
Because all she can think about is Jay. They're trapped
in a mutual cycle of getting closer than pulling all
the way back. Jay writes her letters to say the
(51:49):
things he's afraid to say to her in real life.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Dear Jenna, I think of you every moment. I think
about how beautiful you are when you're sleeping like a
little and I think of the blonde peach fus along
the curve of your back. I can't wait to come
home and kiss every inch of your little face.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Instead of being repulsed by this, Jenna yearns for him.
She also still loves the idea of being in a
couple who work together creatively. She fantasizes about collaborating with
someone worthy of her. You'd think she'd avoid combining business
and pleasure again after her experiences with her ex husband Brad,
(52:30):
But when the business is pleasure, who knows. Baby. When
Jay Gardina left the Valley and Porn to move back
to Arizona, he started a company with his brothers called
Fat Fingers. Fat Fingers sets up phone numbers that are
just one digit off from the phone number of real
phone companies like AT and T. Then they charge out
(52:52):
a call to anyone who is trying to call the
phone company but fucks up one digit. This scam makes
them richer and makes Jay a self proclaimed entrepreneur in telecommunications.
So when Jay finally returns back to Jenna in Phoenix
with his tail firmly between his legs, Jenna hires him
to help set up her new internet entertainment company, Club Jenna.
(53:24):
Club Jenna functions as a Jenna Jamison fan site as
well as a production company. With Jenna at the helm.
The contract girl concept transports perfectly online. Club Jenna licenses
their services to twenty five other adult stars, giving Jenna
another new job title, Webmaster. Club Jenna's slogan is Got Jenna,
(53:48):
a takeoff on the then popular got milk ad campaign
anchored by a porn star who already commands name recognition
in the burgeoning new media landscape of internet pornography. Club
Jenna takes off instantly in clicks.
Speaker 1 (54:06):
I'm the one and only girl in the industry that
has realized the benefits of merchandising. I followed in the
footsteps of a lot of mainstream stars that had their
own perfumes, their own line of clothing. I thought, well,
nobody in the adult industry has done this, why don't I?
Speaker 2 (54:25):
Jenna wants Club Jenna to be a scaling back of
her responsibilities as an adult performer. She wants to shoot
herself stripping and masturbating and sell these clips while transitioning
into working mainly behind the scenes, doing more directing and producing.
She also has lots of ideas for merchandising the Jena brand,
(54:45):
including a Jenna branded pubic hair trimmer, underwear.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
T shirts, boxer shorts, fun stuff, baseball hats. Actually, Jenna
is a brand name and I own it.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
We started with the Jenna bibblehead. From there we went
to you know, we're doing Jenna Jean's. We have Jenna's
toy line that's distributed through Doc Johnson.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
While theatrical releases and VHS tapes were feature length, even
if they were cut down into shorter clips or specific
sex scenes later, the Internet allows for the sale of
short individual clips alone, hearkening back to the decades before
the porn industry when short sag films were traded underground
and shown in people's houses. Clips will be the Web's
(55:32):
main product. While Jay worked in adult film before, he
was a director and producer, not a performer. He won
a Best Videography Award at the nineteen ninety eight ABNS.
But Jenna's fans don't want her to step back from
couple's content into solo scenes only, and since Jay doesn't
(55:52):
want her to fuck other guys on or off camera,
she recruits him to co star, and surprisingly he he agrees.
While he mercifully gets an erection on camera, something is
still off. The chemistry in the room with the ad
a guy named Jim Enright, is weird and they're all
self conscious.
Speaker 1 (56:15):
The sex didn't feel right because we weren't used to
making love in such a cold, sterile environment. And Jay
was very aggressive, which was fine in the bedroom, but
I had to hold him back so I could perform
a little.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
Jay, who can't concentrate on coming and directing at the
same time, sees the playback and is furious. The framing
is all wrong and there's no footage of Jay's popshot.
Jay a perfectionist, insists they do pickups at home. But
to build out Club Jenna the brand, Jenna needs to
(56:51):
make sure the stable of performers there goes beyond just
her and Jay. Now, if straight men throughout the history
of films, both mainstream and adult have historically made women
into their dream fantasy women on screen. What does bisexual
woman in Charge Jenna do? She casts a twenty one
(57:11):
year old girl who looks exactly like her slightly younger self,
Girl Vertigo. Jenna hand picks her co star for the
girl girl scene, Brianna Banks.
Speaker 7 (57:24):
Jenna is not like Pamela Anderson or Jenny McCarthy. The
stalker see her in a very intimate way. They see
her making love, they see her having sex, so they
think they know her. Brianna Banks performer.
Speaker 2 (57:43):
Brianna Banks was born in Munich, Germany, and grew up
in the Valley suburb of Semi Valley. She appeared on
the cover of Teen Magazine as a teen model, then
entered the adult industry in nineteen ninety nine as Mirage.
She got breast implants and made a second debut in
Poor in two thousand as Brianna Banks Stage, named after
(58:04):
her modeling idol Tyra Banks. Her first appearance as Brianna
Banks Isn't a girl girl movie called Pussy Man's Decadent
Diva's Nine. Jenna scouts Brianna Banks off her appearances in
movies like Blowjob Adventures of Doctor Fallatio twenty three, Big
Fat e Fin Tits five, and two thousand and one,
(58:25):
Big Bust Odyssey. Now You Can be the Judge. Is
Jenna altruistically mentoring younger female performers in porn to avoid
the same pitfalls that she befell? Or is she now
like she accused Susie Randall of me ing making a
quick buck off girls when they're fresh to the industry
by pretending to offer feminine guidance.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
Or is it both?
Speaker 2 (58:49):
Maybe it's both.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
I saw something in her that reminded me of me
when I first started the industry, so I took under
my wing.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
The movie is called Brianna Loves Jenna, the first title
and what will become Club Jenna's signature series. It is
directed by Jake Gerdina under his stage name Justin Sterlang.
But something else is about to unexpectedly rock American culture.
In September of two thousand and one.
Speaker 14 (59:26):
We are at worn now, according to President Bush, and
I take him at his work. He also says this
war might last a very long time. Generals and military
scholars will tell you that eight or ten years is
actually not such a long time. In the span of
(59:47):
human history, which is no doubt true. But history also
tells us that ten years of martial law and a
wartime economy are gonna feel like a lifetime today. People
who are in their twenties today, the poor bastards of
what will forever be known as Generation z E, are
(01:00:09):
doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will
grow up with a lower standard of living than their
parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will
take a while for it to sink in. The twenty
two babies born in New York City, while the World
Trade Center burned, will never know what they missed. The
(01:00:34):
last half of the twentieth century will seem like a
wild party for the rich kids compared to what's coming
out the party's over, folks.
Speaker 5 (01:00:45):
Hunter S.
Speaker 14 (01:00:46):
Thompson ESPN dot Com, Page two, column, September eighteen, two
thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
The rest of this column is insane. It opens with
a phone call to Johnny Depp about Osama bin Laden
and a Jets Colts game. Then Thompson shoots some peacocks,
and then he gets into the collapse of the American
imperialist empire that nine to eleven both heralded and symbolized.
After nine to eleven, all the established structures that had
(01:01:19):
made American lives possible in the twentieth century began crumbling
and just never stopped. Things like healthcare and retirement plans
and mental health care had been eroding since the Reagan years.
But Hunter S. Thompson was right about the generation who
would end up being called millennials, with the generation after
that getting the title of Gen Z. Yes, I'm erasing
(01:01:42):
gen X. He was right that we were all doomed.
A few years later, at age sixty seven, Hunter S.
Thompson blows his brains out with one of his firearms
at his home in Woody Creek, Colorado. His death becomes
the subject of nine to eleven conspiracies. Ording to nine
to eleven truthers, Thompson was working on an article that
(01:02:03):
would have blown the lid off nine to eleven being
an inside job, and he was murdered by shadowy government
figures before he could expose the truth. This is a
template for future conspiracies where every person who dies unexpectedly
is said to have been killed because they were going
to expose big secrets. Personally, I feel like if Hunter
(01:02:26):
is Thompson was gonna be murdered by the government for
speaking truth to power. It would have happened in the sixties,
or the seventies or the eighties. His two thousands ESPN
dot com columns are mostly about sports and taking phone
calls from his ranch. After September eleventh, two thousand and one,
(01:02:47):
there's a marked rise in conspiracy theories. The Internet allows
for conspiracy theories to disseminate at newly rapid speed. That
these conspiracies cannot be factually proven and are dismissed for
false information is taken by believers as even more proof
that they're true. When Jenna World returns, Club Jenna opens wide.
(01:03:20):
Oh my God, welcome back to Jenna World. Despite the
gathering storm clouds, Brianna Loves Jenna comes out on schedule
in November two thousand and one. It is a huge blockbuster,
becoming the second best selling pornographic film of all time,
(01:03:43):
behind nineteen seventy two's Golden Ear. Theatrical hit Behind the
Green Door, Vivid Video makes a distribution deal with Club Jenna.
By their second shoot, Jenna and Jay have better on
screen chemistry. Jay does stuff on camera never done with
Jenna at home like lick his own colm off her
(01:04:03):
ass and spit it into her mouth while shooting I
Dream of Jenna and I Dream of Genie parody. She
finds this act to be deeply intimate, a sign of
mutual trust. Something beyond his control comes over him when
the camera is on. Even though Jenna finally has a
boyfriend she likes and a successful career again, she still
(01:04:26):
misses her family. She always thought that finding true love
would fill the emotional void inside of her, but it's
still there, somehow, voiding away. She starts going to therapy
and gets diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. She offers
to put her family up in Tempe, Arizona, so they
can all live closer to one another. Her brother has
(01:04:50):
traded in dry wall for tattooing. They get closer again. Slowly,
she realizes her father just wasn't equipped to handle raising
two your children as a single parent. His response to
crisis was to vanish into his work or to another town.
Jenna adopted this pattern herself. No matter how much resentment
(01:05:12):
she may have towards her dad about her childhood, she
loves him unconditionally.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
In childhood, you think that your parents are perfect and adolescence.
You realize they're not an adulthood I realized means finally
accepting them for what they are, flawed human beings just
like ourselves.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
She calls her father. Jenna decides she's old enough to
help take care of him.
Speaker 8 (01:05:45):
I dreamed about you last night.
Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
I woke up.
Speaker 8 (01:05:48):
I knew you were going to call. I dream about
you all the time.
Speaker 5 (01:05:54):
Larry Mazzoli, Jenna's.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Father, pologizes for never really thanking her for bailing him out.
He admits it's because he found it so embarrassing to
show such weakness to his own child. He tells her
he is getting surgery after being diagnosed with diabetes and
nearly going blind. Club Jenna throws a brand party at
(01:06:21):
the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It's a different
sort of family reunion for Jenna. She sees almost everyone
she's ever met, including Niki Tyler, who has retired from
the biz and is now married with a kid and
attending nursing school.
Speaker 1 (01:06:38):
I was for the first time stable in Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
She even sees Rockabilly Jennifer, her first lady Love from
The Crazy Horse Too. Jennifer has also retired from stripping.
She has a beautiful rockabilly baby, which means he came
out with a tiny pompadour, and she supports herself as
a single parent, waitressing at one of the casinos. The
only person from Jenna's past life in Las Vegas who
(01:07:07):
is missing is mercifully her first ex boyfriend, Jack, who
she hears has moved to Mexico. She also hears that
Preacher left town and that he collects Jenna's porn star
merchandise and videos.
Speaker 3 (01:07:21):
Ew.
Speaker 2 (01:07:24):
Even though she is only twenty five, her wild years
feel far behind her. Jenna feels so romantic about the
past that she even goes to visit the Crazy Horse too,
which is exactly the same.
Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
I thought about the random events that had led me
to this point in my life. If I had never
gone to Jack's tattoo shop, and if the tattoo shop
had not led me to the Crazy Horse, and if
the Crazy Horse had not led me to Jennifer, and
if Jennifer had not led me to Julia Parton, Jenna
Jamison would not exist. All the wrong choices I made
(01:08:00):
served only to ferry me to the right place. I
am the highest paid girl. We're talking twenty thousand dollars
per scene. There's about sixteens per movie.
Speaker 9 (01:08:15):
Do the math.
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
I'm a millionaire. I have three houses.
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
Jenna is interviewed for the Abercrombie and Fitch Quarterly, a
promotional magazine for the Preppy Mall store that features bizarrely
provocative photoshoots from photographers like Bruce Weber. Jenna gives sex advice,
emphasizing the importance of stuff like making out and respecting
your sex partner. The Jena issue of the Abercrombie and
(01:08:44):
Fitch Quarterly is banned in Michigan. The year two thousand,
on Christmas Day in Scottsdale, Arizona, Jay proposes to Jenna.
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
I had a shirt made up that said marry me
me e r R y me, and I had a
ribbon holding a ring.
Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
And I just broke down. I totally broke down. He
loved me enough to think that he wanted to spend
the rest of his life with me.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Jenna says, yes. There's just one problem. Jenna hasn't actually
divorced Brad Armstrong yet.
Speaker 3 (01:09:32):
She was legally still married to her previous husband. They
had been separated for years prior to that. It was
just the fact of it hasn't been annulled yet.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Jenna's endless press tour continues. She's interviewed for a publication
started by Sylvester Stallone called Sly Magazine, and one started
by Gene Simmons of Kiss called Tongue First Outfit.
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
They get smaller as we go.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
Jenna returns to the E Network to promote her new
pinup calendar, Jenna Jamison J two K. She wears a
tight striped cropped tank top, shiny gold satine pants, gold nails,
and a belly button stud Jenna checks out the calendar
shots between takes and offers feedback between segments of Jenna
(01:10:25):
posing in various tiny bikinis and sarongs, petting horses, and
rolling around in the surf. There's a commercial for a
new business, a DVD home subscription service called Netflix. Jenna
is invited to Oxford University to debate anti porn activists.
(01:10:46):
She reads a piece she's prepared against the proposition of
the house believes that porn is harmful.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
They can't argue with me by saying this is degrading
to women, so they say, how does it make you
feel when children get their hands on porn. My responses, well,
sex is a natural thing. I think the most appalling
thing is that the parents agree to let the computer
or the television or the PlayStation babysit their children, and
(01:11:15):
then they want to blame me. Maybe you shouldn't leave
your pornos out, you freaks. I don't think it's up
to me to babysit anybody's children. I'm a porn star.
Let's get real people.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
She wins the Oxford Debate by an audience moode of
two hundred and forty seven in her favor and sixty
five against in two thousand and one. Jenna also does
a guest voice as an animated version of herself on
Family Guy in the season three episode Brian Does Hollywood,
where Brian the Dog becomes a director.
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Do I have to sleep with the dog in this one?
Speaker 5 (01:11:58):
Y'all gonna love it? House? Jenna Jamison, Peter Griffin.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Family Guy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
Stephen Hirsch speaks to a business class at USC about
Vivid Entertainment. He has achieved his dream of making both
himself and the porn business be taken seriously.
Speaker 6 (01:12:23):
Ten years ago, I don't think I would have been
asked to speak in front.
Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
Of that class.
Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
We're already past the acceptance stage, and at this point
we're just talking about a business.
Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
As a business, we're nothing more than widget makers.
Speaker 6 (01:12:34):
Stephen Hirsch Vivid Entertainment.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
While Stephen Hirsch is filthy, rich and almost respectable, the
woman he built his empire on, ginger Lynn Allen, the
first Vivid girl, has to keep dancing on tour to
make money.
Speaker 8 (01:12:52):
My time is past. Gingerlyn Allen performer.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Ginger Lynn Allen is dancing for eleven nights at the
Admiral Theater in Chicago. Thus spake Zarathustra plays and dry
ice fog blasts as Ginger Lynn comes out in a
sheer robe and pleasers, and the music segues into Aerosmith's
Sweet Emotion. She auctions off her panties for her son's
college fund and jokes that her son's going to community
(01:13:22):
college when the price pops out at forty five dollars,
saying one time she got one thousand.
Speaker 8 (01:13:29):
I really don't want to be pitied. I've made my
choices in my life. I put myself in this position.
I am the one who's going to have to get
myself out of it. I've been very fortunate most girls
don't have the career that I've been fortunate enough to have.
They don't have a shelf life of eighteen years.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
Gingers had to refinance her Woodland Hills house twice in
five years in order to pay over four hundred thousand
dollars for her IRS case and subsequent probation violations from
her drug problems. She's in and out of performing, but
has to keep working to keep the house and raise
her son, the one who is rumored to be her
alleged love child with Stephen Hirsch, who denies it.
Speaker 8 (01:14:15):
I'm definitely made mistakes. Had I saved my money a
long time ago, I'd be in a very sweet position.
Speaker 2 (01:14:25):
Ginger Lynn Allen directs a couple of movies titled Girlfriends
and School of Head for a studio called VCX. One
of the cool things about porn is that performers regularly
move into directing because there's not the same barriers to
entry that there are in mainstream entertainment. Nobody gate keeps
directing in porn, and a performer directing a film is
(01:14:46):
also seen as a plus for marketing. Women are given
the power to direct way more often than in Hollywood
because in porn directing movies is treated like a regular job,
not reserved for auturist boy geniuses. Ginger Lynn Allen decides
to get back into performing in porn again too, because
she has a mortgage to pay and medical bills for
(01:15:08):
some health issues. But the money isn't what it used
to be because the number of aspiring porn starlets willing
to do sex stuff on camera has gone from a
relative rarity to a completely oversaturated market. When ginger Lynn
first started, a beautiful girl next door type who was
willing to fuck on camera was a unicorn. Now it's commonplace.
Speaker 8 (01:15:33):
Everybody's been inundated with sex and nudity. It's not exciting anymore.
So my income has drastically changed because of too much sex.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
Vivid drops video from the name and becomes Vivid Entertainment
as they rebrand and start to go online. Rather than
movies or films, Vivid now calls the recorded sexual material
they sell the content interesting. Ginger Lynn approaches her old
boss and supposed friends, Stephen Hirsch, looking for a new
(01:16:08):
contract at her old studio, Vivid Entertainment.
Speaker 8 (01:16:13):
His response was, come back to us after you get
your best offer. It was kind of a little slap
in the face.
Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
We wish her well and we still do.
Speaker 7 (01:16:26):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Ginger Lynn signs with rival studio VCA Video Company of America,
where she made New Wave Hookers in nineteen eighty five,
for less than her one hundred thousand dollars asking fee.
She stars in New Wave Hookers six and other comeback
films helmed by retired performer Veronica Hart, who now directs
under her civilian name Jane Hamilton. Ginger attends AA meetings
(01:16:52):
where she makes friends who don't know her past when
they meet her and don't judge her for it when
they learn.
Speaker 8 (01:17:00):
I have people that I help to stay sober.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
But in Jena world, business is booming. Jenna has a
stock portfolio and an eBay account. She is excited by
the potential financial windfall possibilities of the new Internet Frontier.
Another Internet sex pioneer Internet entertainment group, Seth Warshovski, moves
to Bangkok to evade the FBI and Department of Justice
(01:17:28):
investigations into his shady business.
Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
Last week, I made thirty thousand dollars. I bought into
infospace dot com and forgot about it and ended up splitting.
eBay is going to be huge, of course, I sell
my underwear on eBay.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Like many companies, sex leads the way for early eBay
and then is almost totally banished from the site. While
it is stuff like Jenna selling her used panties on
eBay's adult only section that initially makes eBay's name, eBay
will eventually ban the sale of sexual materials on its
site entirely. In two thousand and three, Jenna goes back
(01:18:12):
on The Howard Stern Show again, saying nice things about
Britney Spears. There's a contemporary tabloid rumor that Jenna and
Britney have hooked up that Jenna is quick to dispel.
She says she's been told Britney is a fan of
her work and that it's mutual. Britney's publicist invited Jenna
to a Britney show as well as the grand opening
(01:18:33):
of Britney's New York restaurant, Nyla, but Jenna and Brittany
never actually met each other. Jenna keeps getting booked for
appearances on increasingly mainstream TV shows like Entertainment Tonight. She
has her own e True Hollywood Story where she's interviewed,
as are her family and friends. She is twenty nine
(01:18:53):
years old, world famous, rich and self made.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
No one in their right mind would go on Bill O'Reilly,
but I felt an obligation to women to go there
because he didn't take me seriously before I got there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Jenna flies to New York and goes on Bill O'Reilly's
Fox News show The O'Reilly Factor, where she continues her
run of challenging, condescending older men on their views about
sex work. Yet again, Jenna successfully holds her own on
the air. She expands her media empire into video games,
voicing a porn star character named Candy Sucks in Grand
(01:19:41):
Theft Auto VI City and doing voice acting for Tony
Hawk's pro Skater.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
For I'm happy doing what I love, and I love
what I do. The money is like the cherry on
a Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
By the early two thousands, Jenna sees no me horizon
that she can't conquer, But the mass media landscape that
made her a star is also shifting tectonically, even if
the effects aren't being felt above ground quite yet, the
whole ecosystem that built Jenna magazines, television, movie studios is
(01:20:18):
already beginning to disintegrate. The Internet has opened a hole
in the earth that will eventually swallow everything. But for now,
seemingly nothing can stop Jenna's reign as the Queen of
all Media, and She's not done yet. Jenna signs a
book deal with Reagan Books to write her autobiography for
(01:20:41):
a six figure advance. Could the world's best selling cornstar
become a New York Times best selling author? Next time
(01:21:02):
on Jenna World, Jenna dives headfirst into the publishing world,
teaming up with a powerful, terrifying New York publishing girl Boss,
plus pick up artists rule in the early two thousands.
All this and a world changing wardrobe malfunction Next time
on Jenna World. Jenna World is an iHeartRadio production executive
(01:21:27):
produced by Anna Hosnier and Becco Ramos supervising, produced by
Bei Wang, produced by Victor Wright, script editing by Jonathan Mills,
engineered by Graham Gibson, and edited by Rory Gagan. Today's
episode of Jenna World featured Laurence ser Video as Jenna Jamison,
(01:21:48):
Noah Garfinkel as Stephen Hirsch, Colin Burgess as Jay Gardina,
David Brown as Tommy Lee, James Austin Johnson as Howard Stern,
Joel Monique as Robin Quick, Jack O'Brien as Mark Hoppis,
Lindsay Normington as Janine Linda Moulter, Alex Gouter as Steve Ornstein,
(01:22:09):
Grant Creator as Roger t Pipe Stavros Halkias as Brad Armstrong,
Victor Wright as Ralph l from San Ramon, Grace Freud
as Brianna Banks, James Kim as Hunter S. Thompson, Paul
Sheer as Larry Mizzoli, Nate Milton as Peter Griffin, and
Yossi Solik as Ginger Lynn Allen go
