read come along for the bad.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Today's episode it features a Tyler Rich. He has all
said to take over the Brighton Music Hall this at
Thursday night, so I'm super excited to catch his show.
And he also just a few weeks ago released a
new album, Hello California, So we chatted about that and
everything else he's been up to within the past year,
So take a listen. So, Tyler, I know you love
(00:48):
it coming up to New England, especially since your wife
is from Massachusetts.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
So what is one thing you love doing when you're
in Boston?
Speaker 2 (00:56):
I always love to go down to what is the Bar?
It's it's like the oldest bar and one of the
oldest bars in America.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Bell in hands, cold yep, bell in hands, bell in Hands.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I love stopping my there. I love going to that
that whole little area right there and just kind of
bar hopping a little bit if I have time. And
the oldest uh oyster bar in the world or in
America too, What is that called.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
I bet you're thinking of Neptune Oyster.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
I don't know. They have the original little Oyster bar
that seats like six people and it's a big restaurant.
I don't know. We have, yeah, a few little favorite
stuffs that we try to make. I don't know what
they're called that I know where they're at, and so
I was just walking on find them.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
So it's going to be so great to have you
back here finally at the Brighton Music Hall on Thursday night.
And I was really excited to see that one of
my favorite New England local artists, Chris Ferrara, is also
going to be a part of the show.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, they're so good. He's a Clayton Johnson is actually
opening this whole week with us. And then Chris is
Chris is such a good buddy, and he was like,
I'd love to go back home to Boston if you
end up adding a third slot. And so he is
actually playing acoustic, which I've never seen him play before, acoustic,
So I'm really excited for it.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Oh that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Weirdly enough, I've only really seen Chris Fhararu's band.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I've never seen him.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Acoustic, and him and Clayton are actually both also in
my new music video for the song Whiskey Go Bad, Yeah,
and so they both Uh, Chris was just right up front,
just partying, screaming, screaming the whole song, and Clayton runs
up and grabs the mic from me, and it's just
rowdy and fun. So that's what it's gonna be like
in Boston.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Dude, congrats on the new album, Hello California, and congrats
on everything you're doing as an independent artist. Now, So
what was that process like putting together this album?
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yeah, I was a big machine for seven years, and
we're all friends and everything still, it's all good. But
they were just releasing music. It was coming out to
like two songs a year, give or take. It was
just way too slow, and we were doing, you know,
very well and touring a lot and just not putting
out enough music to really Uh. It just kind of
felt a little suffocating to me. And I felt like
my fans deserved more, and they even deserved more the
(03:06):
label did, and so I was begging for new music
and eventually I was like, well, can I please just
go record a bunch of new music on my own then?
And I was able to get out of my deal.
And so this, this album is the truest version of
a Passion project you could ever imagine. The fans we
only had, we only got eighteen songs in seven years,
(03:26):
so I wanted to do eighteen songs in one years.
Thank you to everybody for being patient. And I was
just having so much fun in the studio that I
decided to do twenty one. So the ten songs that
just came out is actually the first half of a
double album, and the back half it's going to come
out this fall.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
That's awesome. Yeah, congrats.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Obviously, I'm sure you could guess what my favorite one
on there is gets me every time?
Speaker 1 (03:48):
So good every time? Right, yeah, so good?
Speaker 2 (03:52):
Thank you and everybody. You know, we just did the
first week's of tour and everybody's already singing that song.
It's only been out for like a month and it's
just the most gratifying, satisfying thing of all time. It's beautiful.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So are we going to hear some old stuff on
Thursday too?
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Yeah? Absolutely, Yeah. We played pretty much. We play eight
out of the ten Okay, new songs that just came out, good,
and then we sprinkle in all the ones that the
main ones that everybody knows also, and there's some cool
metalis and some cool little cover moments in the middle
of songs. And we're really really proud of this set.
(04:28):
We put a lot of a lot of energy and
time creating the set order and the production and all
this stuff and watching it unfold the past two weeks,
it's just we all just feel like proud dads that
don't have kids yet.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
And I know so many people are so excited to
see you on Thursday night, So I do want to
go through some really fast, rapid fire questions. So if
I were to hand you one hundred bucks, would you
place a bet that the Celtics would win the championship? Again?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Good moments Like I know you're manager is a he's
a Celtics fan, so he would be very happy to
hear me say okay.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Good good And what are you currently binge watching.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Sever right now? It's it's the craziest show I think
I've ever seen. My wife and I are like, how
did they even pitch this show? How do you explain
what this EPHN is to even turn it into a
TV show? It's mind blowing.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
And favorite Boston athlete.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Oh, Tom Brady, good answer easy.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
What are you going to be eating besides oysters? In Boston?
What's like your go to meal?
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Oh? Man, there's a bakery. My guitar player went to
Boston School of Music, and when we've driven through to
go to the other surrounding sent as we've played, we've
stopped at this bakery. I can't think of what it's called,
but I'm going to eat a ton of donuts for sure.
That'll be my meal.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Love that well, Hey, Tyler Rich, we will see you
tomorrow night at the Brighton Music Hall.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Okay, sounds amazing. Thank you so much, Jeff
