Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to Kids
Animal Stories. We love critters of all shapes and sizes
so much we produce stories five times a week. Yes,
there's so many stories for you to listen to, either
in the car, getting ready for bed, or maybe during
quiet time. And so you don't want to miss any
of our amazing episodes. And make sure that you smash

(00:24):
the follow button right now so that you can hear
all of our awesome adventures. Are you guys ready to
hear Part two of Sadie's seahorse Adventure? Me too, Let's go.
As Sadie turned around and saw this gi enormous, scary

(00:45):
scuba diver trying to catch her with the net, she
was able to zip right into a hiding spot inside
of the pirate ship. You see, this scuba diver was
swimming around this old shipwreck looking for fish or critters
to catch and put into his aquarium. This I know.

(01:06):
Sadie does not want to get captured, and it was
very scary for her. As she raced home as fast
as she could, she slammed the door shut, making sure
that she was safe. She swam upstairs and hid underneath
her bed. She'd never seen such a gritter before and
was completely terrified. That was so scary, said Sadie. What

(01:34):
in the world was that thing? You see? Sadie had
never seen a scuba diver before, and I'm pretty sure
it's because she was playing around with all those very
bright colors is why she got found. And I think
she realized that too, because she felt really guilty and
didn't want to tell anyone about it. Have you ever

(01:56):
felt that way that maybe you do something that's not
right and you're too either too embarrassed to talk about
it or you don't want anyone to know because maybe
you'll get in trouble. But wait a second, did Sadie
actually do anything wrong because she was just changing her colors?
And hmm, I'm not sure, but she still felt really

(02:19):
bad and scared about it. She didn't want to talk
about it even with her parents that evening, as the
whole family was sitting around the dinner table, they were
all telling about their day. And that's when I realized
I'm never going to race an octopus ever again. That
was one of her parents telling a silly story about today. Sadie,
how was your day at school? It was your first day, right, Yes,

(02:43):
it was my first day, and yeah, school was totally fine.
We learned about camouflaging and it was a fine day.
Her parents looked at each other. It was kind of
strange for Sadie to be so short with talking about
her day. Are you sure everything's okay? Asked her mom. Oh,

(03:03):
it's fine, it's it's fine. It's totally totally fine. I
promise nothing. Nothing happened at all, said Sadie. Well, tell
us more about the camouflaging. I think that's the first
time that you've learned how to do that. How did
that go? Sadie's mind was racing with uh, wondering what
she was going to talk about and how she was
going to answer that. Well, yeah, it went pretty well.

(03:27):
Uh oh wait, actually no, no it didn't. I did.
I just misunderstood the teacher's instructions of what they asked
me to do. Sadie told her parents about what had
happened in class that day of how she didn't exactly
match up the color of her desk that she had,
you know, put some polka dots on herself. Oh that's okay, dear,

(03:48):
You'll learn and I know you're you're quite the artist,
so I'm sure it did look amazing. But camouflaging so
that we look exactly like that rock or desk in school,
that is an important skill that as seahorses we need
to make sure that we do, or else we might
get captured by, you know, one of those ginormous creatures

(04:10):
with a net, said one of her parents. Sadie's eyes
did not blink. She was frozen. She forgot to even
swallow her food that was now stuck inside of her mouth. Sadie,
are you okay? You look like you're about to be sick. Instantly,

(04:31):
Sadie started to cry. I'm so sorry, but I almost
got taken by one of those things with a giant net.
It was so scary. She was so upset. Have you
ever felt that way before? I definitely have. Whenever I

(04:51):
feel like either something scary has happened or I did
something wrong, there can be some very big feelings that
we feel inside. Oh, come here, Sadie, it's gonna be okay.
Both of her parents went over and gave her a
big hug. You mean you're not mad at me? Oh my,

(05:12):
of course we're not mad at you. Were just so
glad that you're safe, they said. You see, since us
seahorses are not very good at swimming, it's important for
us to learn how to camouflage, and that's what your
teacher was trying to teach you. But I know that
you are quite the artist, said her mom. So we've

(05:32):
actually been thinking, would you like to go to an
art camp this weekend? Sadie couldn't believe it. Are you serious? Yeah, yeah,
we're serious. Hey, check this out. Her parents pulled out
a big pamphlet. There's a whole bunch of papers, but
it said Seahorse Art Camp. No way, that looks so cool.

(05:59):
Sadie was so happy and excited. All those big feelings
from earlier they were replaced with really other big feelings
like excitement and happy and holy smokes kind of feelings.
I like those kinds of big feelings. Over the next
couple days at school, Sadie was a lot better at

(06:21):
understanding and following those directions from her teacher because to
two very important things. One, she learned how important it
was for a seahorse to know how to camouflage, because
since she's not a fast swimmer, she's got to learn
how to blend in or one of those very scary
things with the big nuts will come and catch her.
She'll never let that happen again. The second reason she

(06:45):
had such a great week is because she had something
to look forward to. She was really looking forward to
art camp, where she could be as many different colors
as she would possibly be able to make and not
have to worry about any predator or scuba divers to
catch her. It was the last day of the week
at lunchtime when she sat down and finally there's her

(07:09):
best friend, Lina. Hey, Lena, she shouted, Sadie, I've been
looking for you all week. This school is so big
and there's so many people, said Lena. These two best
friends were so happy to finally be able to have
lunch together and tell all the stories of what happened

(07:30):
this week. When Sadie told Lena what had happened on
that first day, Lena couldn't help but laugh. That is
you're not gonna believe the Sadie, said Lina. But on
my first day of school in missus C's class, I
did the same thing. I didn't blend in exactly into

(07:53):
the color desk that she had asked me to. I
wanted to be too fancy you did, said Sadie. Oh, yeah,
you'll get used to how things are around here. But
I've actually heard that you are a pretty good camouflager,
and I think that's why I've had a hard time
seeing you all week. Well, I've had quite the crazy

(08:15):
week myself, but I definitely learned that there's sometimes to
have fun and b artsy, and there's other times where
it's just good to blend in and not get scooped
up in a giant net. Wow, that is a really
important lesson that Sadie has learned this week as a
sea horse, because yes, it's really important for seahorses to

(08:36):
learn how to blend in so they don't get captured
or eaten. Well, friends, that may be the end of
this story, but I think it's just the beginning of
Sadie and Lina's great adventures ahead the end. Great job
you listened all the way to the end. Did you

(08:58):
know that seahorses were such good at camouflaging and changing colors?
I definitely did not know that, but that is so cool.
How they go to school and learn how to change colors.
It's important for those slow swimmers in the ocean so
that they don't get eaten. And here's another interesting thing.
Did you know that when they sleep, they wrapped their

(09:22):
tail around something to hold on to them. Yeah, so
it's like they're hanging around while they're sleeping underwater. Well, friends,
I hope you have a super duper day and I
will see you later. Bye.
