Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to Kids'
Animal Stories. There are two things to make you a
super duper fan of this podcast is one hitting the
follow button and two becoming a critter protector. You see
down to the show notes below. There's a link that
describes everything about what it takes to become a critter protector.

(00:24):
So if you care about critters of all shapes and sizes,
ask your parents to click that link down below. I
will see you there. Are you guys ready for today's adventure?
Me too? Let's go. Today's story is another one of
our mystery episodes, which is when you need to use

(00:48):
your thinking caps on your brains and figure out what
kind of critter the story is about. I'm gonna give
you some clues. It's your job to close your eyes
and try. I do imagine who this story is about.
George and Martha are in the middle of building one
of the most epic nests of all time. They are

(01:11):
about to be parents for the first time, so this
is a pretty big deal. This nest is very, very large,
larger than me and you. They spend most of their
day gathering sticks, leaves, and all sorts of other materials
to build this nest. Hey, Martha, that looks like a

(01:33):
good one over there, said George. Martha flew over and
grabbed onto that big bunch of sticks with her talons
and carried them back up to the tree where they
were building this amazing nest. George, I think we need
more strong branches. I want to make sure that this
nest is plenty strong to withstand any big windstorms. I

(01:55):
wouldn't want our eggs to get knocked around in the
nest during a big windstorm, said Martha. Georgia greed and
flew in search of some bigger and stronger sticks. Wait
a second. If this is George and Martha's first time
building a nest, how do you think they know how
to do that. Do you think they have like a

(02:18):
book of instructions that they're following, or do you think
they just know how to do it? Yeah, I don't
think they have a book, like a nest book that
they're following, the step by step tutorial instructions of how
to build the world's strongest nest. They have to use
their brains, and I think somewhere in their brains they

(02:39):
just they just know how to build the nest. That's
pretty cool. They must be two very smart critters, well,
George and Martha's. They did not spend all of their
time building nests. They also took turns hunting at a
lake nearby for fish. They love to go fishing, but

(03:00):
he had a different way of fishing than maybe you
or I would do it. Wow, look at those delicious
looking trout, said George. As they were circling the lake.
From high above, they could see the sparkle of fish
scales swimming in the water. George dive bombed down, splash.

(03:23):
He was so fast when he would dive through the
air like that, and then he would land with his
big long talons on his feet stretched out and would
grab the fish right out of the water. Holy smokes,
that is a pretty amazing skill that he has there.
I know I cannot do that. I need a fishing
pole if I need to go fishing. It wasn't much

(03:47):
longer before Martha had laid all the eggs, and that
meant they had to be a lot more careful. They
had to work as a team together. It would take
turns going out and fishing, and all take turns on
sitting on the eggs and keeping them warm. It was
a job that they both had to do together because
they were a team. Where they had built their nest

(04:10):
was high up on a tree that kind of on
one side was a small lake and on the other
side were the crashing waves of the ocean, And so
if they wanted to find bigger fish, they would just
fly over to the ocean side and go fishing for
a special treat. You see, George was flying back to
the nest from the ocean. He had just spent the

(04:33):
afternoon circling and flying up and down the shoreline looking
for a delicious, ginormous fish for them to share, and
he had caught one. It was so big and heavy
that it was almost hard for George to fly back,
But it's a good thing that he had these big,
ginormous wings that were very powerful. But then, all of

(04:57):
a sudden, George saw something flying in the distance towards him.
It looked like another bird, just like him, because it
had a very bright white head. At first he thought
it was Martha, but it was not. There's another bird
that look like it was trying to steal his fish.
Oh no, George started turning and flying as fast as

(05:20):
he could to get back to the nest, but that
other bird was able to catch up very quickly, and
all of a sudden, crash, that bird grabbed onto the
fish in mid air, and pretty soon these two birds
were spiraling back down to the ocean. They were not

(05:41):
able to fly, and they were both fighting over this fish.
And what in the world is going to happen to
our friend George. Well, meanwhile, as Martha was back at
the nest, the eggs were starting to wiggle. She couldn't
believe it. The eggs were going to have She got
so excited and happy, but was feeling a little nervous

(06:04):
because George had been gone a lot longer than what
the plan was and she didn't want him to miss
the eggs hatching. Martha jumped up on the ledge of
the nest to look around. She was looking for George
and she couldn't see him anywhere. But as she turned
back around, pop, one of the little baby birds popped

(06:28):
its head out of the egg. She was so happy
to see her first little baby and pop, pop, pop
went the rest of the eggs and all the little
bird's heads popped out. She was so happy to have
her family, but she was really missing George. Where in
the world has George gone, she thought to herself, And

(06:51):
why is he taking this long? Well, Martha was getting
very worried, and we're definitely gonna have to wait and
see what happens on the next episode of Kids Animal Stories.
Is George okay? Or did that other bird hurt him? Oh? No,
I don't know what's gonna happen, but I will see

(07:12):
you on the next adventure. Great job, you listened all
the way to the end, and we have a lot
of clues to think about. All right, let's think about this.
So George and Martha, they must be some kind of bird, right,
because they have wings and they could fly, which that

(07:35):
points me towards birds. What do you think? Yes, and
something about talents. They have really sharp talents. They must
be really big because they built a really big nest
and they can carry big fish and they have a
white head. What does that mean? Do you think that's
a clue? Well, friends, I have a lot of thinking
to do, and you do as well, So I will

(07:57):
see you on our next adventure. Bye bye.
