Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, friends, and mister Jemmen, welcome back to Kids Animals Stories.
Today's story comes to us from a Hunter and Libby.
They send me an awesome idea for a critter to
do a mystery story on, and you can't too. Just
head over to the website down below to enter our
Critter q, which is where you can learn how to

(00:26):
become a Critter Protector. Send me your critter ideas and
so much more. Well, friends, are you ready to solve
this mystery? Me too? Let's go. If this is your
first time listening to a mystery story, you have to

(00:46):
pay attention. I'm going to tell you a whole bunch
of clues of what critter the story is about, and
it's going to be your job to try and solve
the mystery of who Hunter and Libby are. One day,
Hunter and Libby were getting ready to enjoy their first
summer on their own. You see, the year before they

(01:08):
had just hatched. They were totally dependent on their mother
for food, and now the siblings were ready for adventure
and freedom. Oh I wonder if they are ready for
you know, being all on their own for finding their food.
On the sunny day, Hunter was busy rustling about finding

(01:28):
grubs and worms. Hmmm, oh delicious, any stray seeds left
in the grass. When Libby flew down and startled him, Ah,
she called out. Ah was that Tonyby? He all about
summer salted? He was so shocked. I got you, Hunter,

(01:54):
said Libby. Libby, what did I tell you about scaring me? Ugh?
I was Why did you have to sound like you
were gonna hate me? He was a little upset at
the jokes she had just played. You see, Libby loved
imitating other sounds, from hawks, eagles, other birds, mockingbirds, you

(02:18):
name it. She was so good at it. She'd made
a little bit of a game of scaring her brother.
Do you have siblings or maybe friends that you might
like to surprise sometime? That can be kind of fun,
but you don't want to do it too much and
actually scare them. Oh, I'm sorry, Hunter, It's just so

(02:40):
fun practicing mimicking different sounds. You should give it a try,
you know. Yeah, yeah, I'll get to that later. I'm
kind of busy right now. You see. Hunter wasn't so
big on practicing his mimicking sounds. He'd rather fill his
time doing things that he thought were more useful, like
finding snacks gathering acorns in his super special secret stored spot.

(03:06):
Hunter had even mastered the skill of filling his throat
with lots of different nuts, then bringing them all the
way to the tippy top of his favorite oak tree.
He loved being prepared, and storing food helped him feel
ready for anything ahead, or so he thought. He flew

(03:27):
over towards his sister and said, Libby, it's it's about
time you start helping me store food for winter. Hunter said,
you only go so far to find more once the
cold weather hits. Oh okay, Lebby moaned, I guess I'll help.
The two pecked along, finding buried acorns, bits of different

(03:51):
things they could store up for the long winter ahead. Hey, Hunter,
check this out. Libby had a fresh nut with the
full hard shell and bumpy topped still intacta whack. She
pecked at the shell with her black beak and broke
open the acorn. Oh, these are so fresh, they're delicious.

(04:14):
Nice job using your head there, Libby, Well your beak,
I guess, Hunter laughed. I'm gonna head across the street.
Maybe that farmer put out some more food in that
fancy contraption he always has. These mystery critters have gotten
very good at living amongst us humans. You've likely even

(04:34):
seen them in the trees near your house, flying around
your town. They have a certain color that makes them
stand out. They're not brown, black, white, or red. Hunter
jumped up, flapped his wings, and flew across the street,
headed towards that farm. And it was a good thing too,

(04:57):
because Hunter found the jackpot. You see, the farmer had
recently filled his bird feeder with delicious treats of seeds
of all sorts of things. Holy smokes, this is the
best I've ever seen it, said Hunter. Oh oh this, Oh,
that's my favorite. Hunter ate some, saved, some, ate some more,

(05:22):
and then flew back to meet up with Libby near
his stash. Libby, You'll never believe what I've And then
all of a sudden, there was a ginormous crash and boom. Uh, Libby,
was that your stomach? He asked, hat, No, how could

(05:42):
I be that hungry when we've been eating so much
all day? She called back, a little bit surprised that
he even asked such a silly thing. But then they
both heard it again, boom, and they saw the flash
there was definitely a storm in the distance. Holy whoa, Yeah,
I heard that and then I saw that flash too,

(06:06):
said Libby. Wow those clouds are moving fast, said Hunter.
The wind was starting to pick up quickly. Both Hunter
and Libby braced themselves and their little hole in the tree. Huh,
I'm scared, hunter, Libby pulled her blue wings in closer
to him. It's okay, Uh, we will be okay, said Hunter.

(06:32):
But as that cold wind blew and that rain started
to turn almost to snow, they both got a little afraid.
Had they waited too long to start preparing for winter?
Are they gonna have enough food to make it through
this storm? And oh dear, I'm not sure what is

(06:55):
gonna happen next, But we're gonna have to wait and
see what happens with Hunter and Libby on the next
episode of Kids Animal Stories. Holy smokes, have you been
listening to all the clues? Well, there's been several of them.

(07:16):
It sounds like they're some kind of bird, right, Yeah,
they have wings and they can fly. They love acorns.
Oh the color? Did you catch what color that they were? Oh? Yes, blue? Interesting,
I can't think of many birds that are blue, can
you well, I'm gonna have to keep thinking about this

(07:40):
and I hope that they're gonna be okay. Well, you
have a super duper day and I'll see you on
the next adventure. Bye.
