Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello friends, it's mister Jim and welcome back to Kids
Animal Stories. This is part two of our amazing mystery adventure.
If if you haven't heard part one, you need to
go back and listen to that first because it has
some really important clues of who our mystery friend Selena is.
You see all those clues, and I think there's a

(00:24):
few more clues in this story will point us to
solving this mystery. Are you guys ready to solve who
Selena is?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
I definitely am. Let's go.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
On.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
The last adventure, Selena was on her way home from
school when all of a sudden, the current of the
water changed and it pushed her and made her all dizzy,
And then she got stuck under the bottom of a boat.
How in the world did that happen? I'm not exactly sure.
The water was swirling all around Selena. The boat was

(01:03):
so fast.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
All Selena could do was hold on for the ride
of her life. After all the swirling and tumbling, she
was finally able to detach herself from the boat. She
spun and slit.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
For what seemed like an eternity, but finally, after all
that spinning, she stopped and looked around where am I
thought Selena. She shivered in fear and looked around for
anything that could be of some help to her. In
the distance, she spotted something. As fast as she could,

(01:44):
she swam over to it. She struggled to keep her
balance still almost gave up all together. With her final
burst of energy, she made it. Oh, it was a
small piece of driftwood. She used her head to onto it.
She needed a break from all that swimming, and hopefully

(02:04):
that driftwood what had her in the right direction. As
Selena was floating along and she tried to come up
with some kind of plan to get her back home again,
she heard a small voice in the distance sounded like
singing or someone talking to themselves.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
To day, A good day for swimming with you. To day,
A good day for swimming with me.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
That was the voice of Manny, the young manta ray.
He'd been swimming around trying to figure out how to
solve a problem of his own. He had grown so
big and so wide that he couldn't keep up with
all the algae that had been growing on his back.
Do you know what a manta ray looks like? Yeah,

(02:55):
they're kind of like a sting ray. They're very big
and round, flat with eyes on the bottom of his
body and no fins. He couldn't even tell for sure
what parts of him were dirty, but he could just
tell that the top of his back was just full
of algae. He tried staying out of the sun, which

(03:17):
would have helped, and rubbing against rocks, powerwashing with the current,
and nothing worked. He was discouraged, but he still loved
to go swimming every day. After having asked all of
his friends for help, everyone was busy and nobody was
able to help him, Manny decided to head out on

(03:38):
his own adventure in hopes of finding something or someone
to help him. In typical Manny fashion, he'd been humming
his favorite song to pass the time, and he suddenly
saw something in the distance. He was used to seeing
debris and stuff floating in the water here and there,
but this looked different and there was something attached to

(04:01):
this driftwood.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Hello, there, can you help me?

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Said Manny as he swam as fast as he could
to see what was over there.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Hello, my name is Mannie the mantor Ray. What's your name?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh? Hi, Oh, it's so good to see somebody. My
name is Selena. I'm very lost. You see, I was
headed home from school and then the current got me
stuck into a boat and took me all the way
out to see and I don't know how to get
back home. Selena began to cry. Manny was quick to

(04:40):
try and calm her down. Ho, there there, little one,
I understand. You see, I've had a hard time too.
I've been looking for help cleaning my back. I can
never find anyone that's good at cleaning. Cleaning, said Selena.
Her eyes perked up and she said, I love cleaning.

(05:02):
I can help you. Holy Toledo, are you serious? Said Manny.
He swam close to Selena and she jumped right on
his back and got to work. Not only was it fun,
but she was really good at getting every last bit
of algae from Manny's back. Hold on, all right, we

(05:23):
need to pause the story and solve this mystery. Have
you figured out who Selena is? I need some help.
Let's go through the clues together, all right. So Selena remembers,
I think it's a really important clue that she's got
like a sticky part on her head, that she can
stick the things and start cleaning. What kind of critters
in the ocean are sticky. I don't think a jellyfish

(05:47):
or an octopus or yeah, octopuses have those suction cups.
Do you think she's an octopus? No, Selena's not an
octopus because look it says ah that she's long and light.
That's not an octopus. Hmmm. Hold on, remember the clue

(06:08):
that she could She would stick on to a shark,
and the shark is what helped her family move to
the new place. Oh, yeah, what are those things that
stick on to sharks to clean their skin? Uh?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
The ramora?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yes, Selena is a ramora. That's those kinds of fish
that stick on to the side of like sharks and
whales and manta rays, and they helped clean their skin.
That's what they're really good at. Oh, it makes so
much more sense. Good job. After talking some more together,

(06:47):
Selena soon figured out that Manny Oh had actually heard
of her town in his geography. Classt knew exactly how
to get her back home. Oh, Selena wrote, all all
the way home attached to Manny's back, and both of
them felt so happy to have found each other. There's

(07:08):
my house, said Selena. Her parents were waiting for her
in the distance, Selena, we were so worried about you.
Are you okay? Yes, I'm okay. I was just having
a really bad day when I couldn't figure out, you know,
a talent that I have for the school talent show,
and then I got lost. But my new friend here, Manny,

(07:29):
helped me get home.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
What are you talking about? You are an amazing cleaner.
No one has ever cleaned my back the way that
you just did. I think that is your ultimate talent.
Selena smiled. She couldn't believe her ears, but she knew
he was right.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
You see, cleaning was It just came so easy to
Selena because that's what she was made to do. That
she didn't even consider it a talent. But now that
man has told her that she is really good at
and it is a talent. Now I think it's easier
for her to believe it. That's what's so awesome about

(08:09):
having friends or being a good friend. Sometimes we need
to hear positive things from other people and so it's
a lot easier for us to believe it. So why
don't you think of a friend that's really good at something,
and maybe they don't even know they're good at it
until you tell them and so right now you can

(08:30):
send them a message or maybe the next time you
see them you can tell your friend the one thing
that they are really good at. I know that it's
gonna definitely make their day a very special day, just
like Selena the end. Great job, you listened all the

(08:53):
way to the end. Were you able to solve that one?
That one was pretty hard? Yes. The room mora is
a really cool looking fish. They are very long and
light and kind of skinny, and they have this very
special suction cup thing on the top of their head
that they stick on to the bodies of sharks or

(09:13):
whales or other critters to clean. And that's how they
eat their food. Wow, it's pretty amazing. And oh, that's
how she got stuck to that boat in the first place. Well,
I hope you friends have a souper duper day and
I will see you on our next adventure.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Bye.
