Paul's Letters to Rome. In our last story, we began
Paul's letter to the Romans and his explanation or our
position before God and how he longs for us to
be saved. In this story, the Apostle Paul continues the
second half of his letter to the Christians who are
in Rome, with a focus on how to apply a
(01:32):
saving faith in Jesus as inspired by Romans.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Hi Again, it's Julianne Thompson guest hosting for Julia Jeffer
Sadler with the Kids Bible in a Year podcast. I
am so excited you're here with me today. We're going
to learn about a very special promise Paul tells the
believers in Rome about, and it's a promise for you too.
Let's dive right in.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
There is no guilt for those who serve Jesus. He
has set you free from sin and death. Jesus came
as a human so he could defeat sin. We must
not think about things of the flesh, but things of
the spirit. You cannot please God unless the spirit of
God is inside of you. The same spirit which raised
(02:23):
Jesus from the dead will give life to you. If
you are led by the spirit of God, you are
a son of God. You are no longer a slave,
and you can cry out to God as your father.
If we suffer with the pain of Jesus's death, we
will also be with him in his glory. The pain
of today is far less than the glory which will
(02:45):
come to us one day. All of creation waits for
the day of redemption. We wait for that day with hope.
The Spirit helps us when we are weak. The Spirit
prays for us when we do not know what to pray.
God word works things together for the good of his children.
If God is on our side, who can come against us?
(03:06):
Nothing can separate us from His love, not even pain
or fear. However, there are people who do not wish
to experience God's love. Some believe that because they are
Abraham's descendants that they will be saved. What they do
not realize is that those who believe in Jesus are
spiritual children. In other words, those spiritual children are the
(03:30):
true children of Abraham's promise and blessings. We cannot work
our own way to salvation. It is because of God's
mercy that we have salvation. I pray that the Jews
become saved. This is the knowledge that counts most. To
believe in your heart that Jesus's Lord. Confess with your
(03:51):
mouth and believe God raised him from the dead. It
does not matter who you are, because God is God
to everyone. It is critical that people hear the name
of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, there are those who have heard
the gospel of Jesus Christ and still reject it. God
does not reject his people, and he will always save
(04:13):
a remnant. Again. They are not saved by working for salvation,
but only by God's grace. Has anyone sinned too far
for God's grace? No, despite what the Jews believe, salvation
is available to everyone and anyone. God is kind to
those who believe, and stern to those who do not.
(04:34):
Even so, God extends mercy to everyone. You at one
point were also disobedient to God. Though you are not
disobedient now, you should offer yourself to God. Do not
be prideful. We are all a family and Christ, and
we all have different gifts. The Holy Spirit gives each
of us these different gifts, and we should use these
(04:56):
gifts to glorify God. Love those in God's family. Do
not try to defeat evil with evil, but defeat evil
with good. In the same way, you must love your
brothers and sisters in Christ. You must also submit to
the government. Those in authority are God's servants, whether they
are Christians or not, citizens or authority. Love your neighbor
(05:20):
as yourself. If you love like this, you will always
be following God's law. Behave like Christ and avoid the
desires of your sinful flesh. If someone's faith is weak,
watch over them. Those who are strong must assist those
who are weak. Accept each other because Jesus Christ forgave
you and gifted you with grace and mercy. Glory be
(05:44):
to God. Amen.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Today's story was jam packed with amazing teaching from Paul.
But there's something very special. I don't want you to
mess before we look at it. Let's think back to
everything that's been going on in Paul's life. He's been
traveling around telling everybody about Jesus and it's been incredible.
(06:12):
He's made so many new friends, and he's also made
a lot of enemies. Paul has been beaten up, thrown
in prison, and run out of town multiple times. Now
he's writing a letter to Christians who live in Rome.
Many of them had been run out of town too
when Emperor Claudius kicked all the Jews out of Rome.
(06:34):
On top of that, they've gone through a famine. There
was hardly any food. So Paul and the Christians in
Rome know what it's like to go through hard times.
I'm sure, there were many days when they just wanted
to cry. Maybe they even started wondering, does God see
what's happening to me? Does he care? Has he left
(06:55):
me to deal with all these troubles on my own?
And Paul, who's face more troubles than anybody, gives the
church some wonderful news. He encourages them with these words.
Paul writes, who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Could opposition or anguish, or persecution or famine or nakedness
(07:18):
or peril or sword. No, in all these things we
are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For
I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels,
nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height nor depth, nor other created thing that will
be able to separate us from God's love which is
(07:40):
in Christ Jesus Our Lord. Now some of these are
big words, but here's what they mean. If your heart
ever says, is this situation so big or so bad
that it could make God leave me? The answer is no.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
No.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Lack of food, lack of money, lack of sleep, lack
of hope, lack of comfort, lack of friends or even
lack of safety will ever mean God stopped loving you.
Nothing can separate you from His love. Nothing that happens
in the past and nothing in the future, Nothing going
(08:21):
on right now, no matter how sad or scary or stressful,
can pull God away from your side. When life feels
like a battle and like everyone and everything are against you,
you and Jesus can find victory together. He will fight
with you. He will fight for you to help you
(08:41):
win your battles, no matter how fierce they are. God's
love is higher and deeper and stronger than anything else
in the universe. Nothing and no one, ever, ever, ever
can tear you away from Him. Before you were born,
God loved you, and he'll keep on loving you every
second of your life. His love never stops, no matter
(09:05):
what now. As Paul and the Roman Christians discovered, life
can be full of hard times, but hard times doesn't
mean God loves you any less. He stayed right there
with those early Christians, walking beside them through their toughest days.
When they wanted to cry, He held them, wiping their
tears away, and He'll do the same for you. If
(09:27):
you ever start wondering, does God see what's happening to me.
Does he care? Has He left me to deal with
all of these troubles on my own? The answer, my
dear one, is no. No matter what happens, no matter
what comes, no matter how scary life gets, God is
with you. He loves you, and He will never leave you.
(09:50):
Together with Jesus, you are more than a conqueror. In
every battle you face, nothing can separate you from God's love.
I'm so happy you join me today. Come back next
time to hear what happens during the rest of Paul's travels.
