Paul's second Letter to the Church in corinth In our
last story, Paul wrote to the Corinthians to address issues
of unity and immorality within the church. In this story,
Paul will write another letter Since writing the first letter,
the church has solved some of the immorality issues in
(01:34):
the church, which Paul praises them for. However, new issues
have arisen, and Paul also finds the need to defend
his standing as an apostle, as inspired by Second Corinthians. Hi.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
There, it's Julianne Thompson guest hosting for Julia Jeffer Sadler
with the Kids Bible NEIR podcast. I'm so happy you're
here today. We get to hear about the big change
that happens in our hearts when we start loving Jesus.
Let's jump in and find out what it is.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
I Paul send greeting to you from God. I give
praise to God for being merciful and giving comfort to
those in pain. We should comfort those around us who
are in pain. We can relate with both the pain
and the comfort of Jesus. No matter what we experience,
we must remain loyal to God. We have experienced great
(02:35):
pain while traveling, almost losing our lives. We thought we
would die, but we chose to trust in God to
protect us. We trust God because he has always kept
us safe. Please pray for us. We are proud that
we live by the grace and wisdom of God, not
our own wisdom. We write to you what we have
(02:57):
learned from God, and we can be proud of each
other for unus understanding God's truth. I hoped to visit
you so that I could continue to invest in your lives.
I wanted to come, but I wanted to follow God's
plan for my trip. We trust that God will complete
all of his promises. We give glory to his name
for this. God is the one who will strengthen you
(03:19):
and give us his spirit as proof of his work
in our lives. I decided not to visit you for
I did not want to upset you. I write because
I want you all to know that I love you
all deeply, and I only correct you because of love.
If anyone caused pain to the group, you should forgive
(03:42):
him so he will not be too sad. Listen to
my voice and tell him you love him. If you
forgive him, I will also forgive him. Satan wants us
to be divided, but we must not give into his plans.
I am thankful that God leads us and uses us
to spread the good news. We are messengers of God
(04:05):
to those who need to know him. God is the
one who sends us, and we bring life to those
who need it. Our ministry is backed up by all
of you, for you have a great testimony of God
through your lives. The Spirit of God has written his
truth on your hearts. Because of this, we can be
(04:25):
confident in God, not trusting in our own strengths. We
are people of the Spirit of God, not the Law.
If the Law was so glorious that the people of
Israel could not even look at it, how much more
glorious is the Spirit of God. The Law no longer
has glory because the Spirit of God, which lives inside
(04:46):
each of us, has taken it all. The glory of
the Spirit will never end. We have hope and are bold,
not like those who still trust in the Law. They
cannot see the truth of the Spirit, and one seeks God,
they can see clearly and experience true freedom. One day
we will be able to look at God and be
(05:08):
in His glory. Through the Spirit. We work for God
and we cannot give up. We will not work in
evil ways or change God's word. If we preached a
false message, we would be exposed in front of the
people by God. We speak not our own truth, but
the truth of Jesus. God is the one who gives
(05:31):
us the truth to share. The truth we have is
precious and only belongs to God. We are attacked and pressured,
but we will not be destroyed. The life of Jesus
is living inside of us. We have believed in God
and that is what we share. God has raised Jesus,
and He will also raise us and bring us to
(05:52):
be with him. The grace of God gives us a
great reason to be thankful. We cannot give up, for
our bodies are growing weaker, but our spirit is growing stronger.
The pain we experience now is far less than the
glory we will experience one day. We focus not on
what we can see now, but what we will see
(06:13):
in the future. Even if the earth is destroyed, we
have a house made by God for us. While we
are here on earth, we are painfully waiting for our
home in heaven. The pain we feel on earth will
be replaced with a beautiful life. It is God who
is making this home for us. We must continue to
(06:34):
have courage. While we are on earth, we are not
living with God. We trust God, even though we cannot
see everything he is doing. We would rather be with
God than on earth, but wherever we are we try
to please Him. One day we will be judged for
whether we do good or bad things on the earth.
(06:55):
We must encourage each other to take God very seriously.
God no who we truly are, and we do as well.
What is in your heart is more important than what
people see on the outside. We are moved by the
love of God. Because Christ died for us, we must
live for him. We must not look at people based
on how they look on the outside. If Christ lives
(07:18):
inside of someone, they are made into a new person.
Their old ways no longer exist. We are united with God.
God trusts us with the message of bringing people back
to Him. We represent Christ on the earth. Jesus took
our sin so we could become the holiness of God.
(07:38):
Do not be prideful for receiving God's grace. We must
make it easy for people to find the truth of God,
even in pain, hunger, and beatings. We must be wise, patient, kind,
and full of truth and power. We give you truth
from our hearts. I ask that you would also open
your hearts. Do not allow unbelievers to change your faith.
(08:03):
The people of God cannot become like the people of
the world. Light and darkness do not go together. God says,
I will live with my people and I will be
their God. You should separate yourself with unclean things so
you can come into my presence. I will be your father,
(08:23):
and you will be my children.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Today's story was full of more important teaching from Paul.
He had a lot to say to the church in
corinth so let's take a closer look. Just like in
his first letter to the Corinthians, Paul is helping his
friends understand that when you become a Christian, your life
doesn't stay the same. Big changes start happening. In fact,
(08:53):
Paul says that when you become a Christian, you become
like a whole new creature. Now that's sound pretty wild,
doesn't it. Do you think Paul means that you grow
horns like a cow, or a fluffy little tail like
a dog, or you're suddenly able to breathe underwater like
a fish. No, even though that would be super amazing,
(09:17):
that's not the kind of new creation Paul is talking about.
He means that Jesus is changing you on the inside,
changing the way you see people and feel about different
issues and how you think about life, and that change
is dramatic as a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. Now,
when you look at a caterpillar and a butterfly, they
(09:40):
don't look alike at all, do they. A caterpillar looks
like a fuzzy little finger with lots and lots of legs.
Some have stripes and some have spots, but all of
them inch their way along the ground from leaf to leaf. Butterflies,
on the other hand, are bright and beautiful. They fly
through the sky on vibrant, colorful wings, And if you
(10:03):
didn't know better, you would never look at a caterpillar
and think it could become a butterfly, or look at
a butterfly and remember that it had once been a caterpillar.
But God is funny sometimes, and he created each caterpillar
with the amazing ability to turn into something totally new,
a butterfly, in the same way he created you with
(10:28):
the amazing ability to turn into something totally new but
still totally you. You see, when God's spirit comes to
live inside you, you don't become less interesting or less
fun or no humboring. No, just like a butterfly, you
(10:48):
become more vibrant, more interesting, and more colorful. Your sin
is no longer weighing you down. You're forgiven, and your
heart can now fly higher and higher, carried by joy
and peace and hope. It's wonderful. Paul says that difference
is like the difference between the law Moses offers and
the life only Jesus can give. Do you remember when
(11:11):
Moses would visit God in the tabernacle. Every time he
came out, his face would shine so brightly he had
to cover it with a veil. It was like each
time he visited with God he experienced the butterfly change.
But that change didn't happen to anyone but Moses, and
it only happened when he went into the tabernacle. After time,
(11:34):
it faded away. Paul says that now we don't need
a veil. Jesus tore it away because all of us
can experience the butterfly change. When we love Jesus, our
hearts shine brighter than Moses's face, and that bright, beautiful
shine will never fade away. And one day the butterfly
change that happens in our hearts will happen to our bodies.
(11:57):
We won't grow a horn or a fluffy tail or
butterfly wings but when we go to live with God,
he will make us into something brand new, so new
and vibrant. It's super amazing that we can't even imagine
it now. It'll be wonderful. I am so happy you
join me today. Come back next time to hear the
(12:18):
rest of Paul's second letter to his friends in Corinth.
