Speaker 1 (00:00):
When he had spoken these things, he knelt down and

they should see his face no more Acts twenty thirty

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Paul's travels in our last story, we read about Paul's
letter to the Christians in Rome and how he plans
to visit them soon. He explained how to be righteous
in God's sight and how to live as a Christian
in the world. In this story, we returned to Paul's
missionary journey and how he will sail to trow Us
and will raise a man named Uticus after he fell

(01:42):
from the window, and then finally say goodbye to the
elders in Ephesus and head to Jerusalem as inspired by
acts Hi.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
There it's Julianne Thompson guest toasting for Juliet Jeffer Sadler,
but the Kid's Bible. In your podcast, I Am so
happy you're here. Today we get to hear more about
Paul's travels and what happens when he preaches a long, long,
long time one night. What's gonna happen? Let's jump in
and find out.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
After the riot in Ephesus, Paul asked for the disciples.
The disciples came and Paul encouraged all of them. Then
Paul said goodbye. Paul traveled to Greece. On his way
to Greece, he went through a Roman province called Macedonia.
When Paul traveled through that area, he encouraged the people.
Once Paul arrived in Greece, he stayed for three months.

(02:40):
Paul discovered that some Jews were plotting evil against him
before he left Greece. Paul decided to leave a different
way through Greece by returning through Macedonia again. This time,
Paul was accompanied by different men. Eventually, Paul and the
others arrived in a city by the name of Troas,
and the others stayed in Troas for seven days. The

(03:03):
last night Paul was there, he spoke four hours. First,
the people celebrated communion and had a meal together. Then
Paul talked until midnight.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Because of how late.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
It was, a man named Eutychus was listening to Paul
in the house and fell into a deep sleep. The
young man was sitting on a window ledge and fell
to the ground because he had fallen asleep. When the
people went to check on him, they discovered he had died.
Paul went to the young man's corpse, put his arms
fiercely around the young man and proclaimed, do not be afraid.

(03:37):
This young man is alive. That night, the young man
returned home alive, and his friends and family were greatly
comforted the rest of the night. Paul talked again until
daytime and had more food with everyone. Later, Paul asked
for the elders of the Church of Ephesus. Paul said,
to the elders, you observed my life deserved God humbly

(04:01):
and with tears, despite the evil the Jews tried to
enact against me. You know everything I said was for
your benefit and that all people must turn to God
and believe in Jesus Christ. Paul continued, the Holy Spirit
is sending me on an unknown journey to Jerusalem. In
every city persecution awaits me. My life is meaningless unless

(04:23):
I complete what God wants me to do, which is
to preach to everyone about his salvation. Paul told them,
I will never see you again. Therefore, watch yourselves and
your church. People within the church will try to divide
the church. Remember I warned you about.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
This for years.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Paul said a few more things. Afterward, they all knelt
on their knees and prayed. They all mourned over Paul's
final departure and walked him back to his ship, where
he left them all. Paul and the other disciples traveled
around much more. They stayed in Cesare with the disciple
named Philip. After a couple of days, a prophet came

(05:03):
to Paul and warned him the Jews will tie you
up and hand you over to the Gentiles. When the
other disciples who had been traveling with Paul heard the prophet,
they protested and said, Paul, please do not go to Jerusalem.
Paul answered, it breaks my heart to hear you guys
say this. However, I am ready to die for Jesus

(05:24):
if I must. The others gave up and simply said
God's will be done. Paul and the other disciples eventually
made it up to Jerusalem, where fellow Christians welcomed them lovingly.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Wow. Today's story was a beautiful picture of the loving
family that God's Church has become. When you read this
book in the Bible, the Book of Acts, you learn
about all the friends Paul made while he was traveling
around telling people about Jesus. And then when you read
other books in the Bible, like Ephesians or Philippians, or

(06:05):
First and Second Thessalonians, you see that those books are
actual letters Paul wrote to his friends in Ephesus, Philippi,
and Thessalanka over and over again. Paul writes things like
I miss you a whole lot, and I can't wait
to see you again, and I love you like you're
my own children. The wonderful thing is Paul writes these

(06:28):
things because he means them. You see, God never meant
for the church to be filled with people who don't
know each other's names, or Christians who barely know anything
about each other at all. The church began as a
group of people who loved Jesus and loved each other
more than anything else. They wanted to be together. It

(06:50):
made them happy. They loved getting together to eat and
praise God and learn about Jesus. They found purpose in
caring for one another and making sure everyone had everything
they needed, and as we saw in this story, they
even wanted to stay up all night just to hear
Paul talk about Jesus. Though poor Uzukis couldn't quite stay awake.

(07:12):
His little nap turned out to be pretty dangerous, but
when he fell out of a window, God used Paul
to heal him and everybody went right back to learning
about Jesus. When it was time for Paul to leave
his friends, everyone prayed for him and cried because they
loved him so much. They all knew they were going

(07:32):
to miss each other terribly, but they also knew that
nothing was more important than telling people about Jesus. You see,
God never meant for the message of Jesus to be
just a nice story that only pastors and Sunday school
teachers talk about. For Paul and his friends, the message
of Jesus was like food or air. They couldn't live

(07:53):
without it. Knowing Jesus means experience all the best and
most amazing things God made for us, a full and
abundant life. This kind of life isn't about more stuff,
or more money or more power.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
No, it's all about.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
The things we really want, things like forgiveness and hope
and joy and deep, rich loving relationships that reflect God's
life giving love for us. It's a life that anybody
can live, no matter where you are, or how much
money you have, or even what problems are in your life.

(08:29):
And Paul and his friends knew that helping as many
people as possible experience that life is worth everything it cost.
That's why, even though Paul knew danger, trouble, and hardship
were waiting for him in Jerusalem he went anyways, there
were people there who needed to know about Jesus. You see,

(08:51):
God never meant for us to choose comfort or an
easy life over everything else. The most important things in
life require hard work and dedication. The most important things
in life require hard work and dedication. Sometimes that might
mean that you might feel uncomfortable or face challenges, and

(09:12):
that's okay. God is there to help you. He will
never leave you alone. You can trust him. That's what
you'll read about in every book of the Bible. Because
there's nothing better in life than knowing Jesus. It's like
food or air, and there's nothing more valuable than being
a part of God's loving family. Living a full and

(09:35):
abundant life and inviting others to live it too is
worth everything it cost, and it's what God means for
us to do. I am so happy you join me today.
