Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, listeners, if you've been following along with our Elisha series,
don't worry, we will still continue that this week. But
this episode goes really well with the holiday that we
are celebrating this week, so I put it up so
you can enjoy it with your family for this holiday.
Hello again, and welcome back to Kids' Bible Stories. Today's
story is called only One Says thank You. This comes

(00:24):
from Luke, Chapter seventeen, verses eleven through nineteen. Now let's
begin today's story. Once there were ten people who were sick,
yesh with a terrible disease called leprosy. It caused their
skin to change.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
Oh, spots on.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Their arms appeared and turned white or red. Sometimes they
coughed and sneezedo. People feared catching it from them. So
to prevent it from spreading, those who had leprosy to
stay away from others, even their family. Oh no, here

(01:07):
comes a leper. Children, children, come here, get behind me?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Oh now, who ways blowing? Who'll get you away further?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Can you imagine how would you feel if first of all,
you didn't feel good because you were sick, and then
you couldn't even be around your family for comfort. How
do you think you'd.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
Feel sad and scared me too.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
They also couldn't go to work to earn money, and
they couldn't hide their disease, so this was serious and sad.
These ten men, well, they had heard of a compassionate
and miraculous healer named Jesus, who can make everything right again.

(02:12):
One fateful day, Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem.
He was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. As he
entered a village there, he was met by the ten lepers.
Knowing the rules, the lepers stood at a distance, but
with hope shining in their eyes, they cried out together.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Jesus, mister, have pity on us.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Their voices carried their desperation through the hills. Jesus, the
embodiment of compassion, heard there. Please. He gazed upon them
with love, understand the depths of their suffering, and longing
for healing. With a gentle smile, he spoke to them.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Go and show yourselves to the priests.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
They did as he said. They turned around and began
walking to the priests, step step step. But as they
went something began to happen. The sores on their skin

(03:40):
that caused them so much discomfort became smooth, clean and healthy.
The pain that had tormented them for so long vanished.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Oh you guys, guys, this might sound crazy, but look
at your arms. Look at mine. Mine aer healed. Oh well,
it's a miracle.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
How do you think they felt?

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Now?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I feel happy and I feel happy that I could
go back to my family.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Good. I think they would just burst with joy, jumping
up and down. They were cleansed, healed. Then one of
them gazed at his now restored body, his heart filled
with overwhelming gratitude and a profound understanding of the miracle

(04:44):
that had occurred. Unable to contain his emotions, he turned around,
leaving his path to the priests and ran back to Jesus,
praising God with a loud voice. He fell on his
face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Jesus, thank
you so much, thank you for making me well. You
are a miracle worker, and I am forever grateful.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
The man who returned to say thank you was a Samaritan.
Then Jesus answered.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
We're not ten cleansed. Where are the other nine? Was
no one found to return and give praise to God except.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
This foreigner, and he said to him.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Rise and go on your way. Your faith has made you. Well.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Well, that is it for our story today. But before
we go, let's think about what we just heard. Tell
me how many men were sick with leprosy? Ten that's correct?
Did Jesus heal all of them?

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (06:25):
But how many came back to thank Jesus One These
Bible verses help to teach us a powerful lesson. It's
important to be thankful for the blessings Jesus gives us
and to express or show our gratitude. I think many

(06:50):
of us can hear about the ten lepers and think, well,
of course I would go and say thank you for
such a miracle like that. But there are everyday miracles
in our current lives that we forget to thank God for,
like the fact that the sun rose again today, that

(07:14):
we are alive, the amazing fact that Jesus made you
and loves you. Those are everyday things that we often
forget to say thank you Jesus. Now we should always
remember to say thank you for the things in our lives,

(07:34):
because gratitude is a gift that warms our hearts, brings
joy to others, and is honoring to God for his
wonderful gifts. Well, that is it for our story today.
As we kick off our Thanksgiving episodes, we get to

(07:56):
hear from you, our listeners who are helping to support
