About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hey friends, it's mister jim Man. Welcome back to kit
Short Stories. If this is your first time, welcome to
the family. We are the podcast that turns your ideas
into an amazing adventure every single day. You know, we
couldn't even exist without imaginations from kids just like you.

(00:24):
So if you have an idea for a story, I'd
love to see it. Check down in the show notes
below for how you can submit your own story idea
and maybe we'll turn it into an awesome adventure. And parents,
if you're new to kids podcasting, I'm gonna challenge you
to listen to podcasting for five days in a row
with your kids. It's going to increase their imagination, decrease

(00:44):
screen time, and we're gonna have a lot of fun
along the way. Are you guys ready for today's adventure?
Me too, Let's go. Ernie the Elephant woke up one
morning with a tickle in his nose. Uh ah, at you.

(01:07):
Ernie sneezed and his trunk blasted his blankets off his
bed and across the room. Don't feel so good, mumbled Ernie.
He wiped his trunk and trudged to the kitchen to
make himself some morning tea. Ernie opened the tin where
he kept his tea leaves. Oh, sniffled Ernie. He tipped

(01:33):
the tin upside down. Not a single tea leaf came out. Okay, well,
how about the hot water with levetead honey. Ernie was
trying to be positive, like he always was. He opened
his honey jar on the counter and saw one drop left.

(01:57):
That would be enough. I guess I have to go
to the store. Ernie dragged himself out the door and
headed into town. On the sidewalk, Ernie smelled the blooming flowers.
The pollen tickled his already ticklish nose. Uh ah, show

(02:19):
the flower petals blasted off their stems and flew through
the air. Oh there, muttered to Ernie. He added flowers
to his list of items to buy at the store.
His nose began to feel stuffy and runny. As he
reached downtown, Ernie the elephant passed by busy shops on

(02:40):
the busy streets on his way to the grocery store.
He sniffled and held his trunk up, trying not to
dribble on anyone else passing by. Gross, Can you imagine
having elephant boogers? Dribbled on you no way, not for me.

(03:00):
Ernie's friends Easton and Everson were outside the grocery store
and saw him walking their way. Oh, by, Ernie doesn't
look so good, said Easton. Everson nodded in agreement. Yes, he
looks like he has a cold or something. Whoy Ernie
Everson waved to the elephant. Ernie saw his friends up ahead,

(03:23):
but before he could wave back or say hi, his
friend Robbie, the robin fluttered down onto his trunk. Oh hello, Ernie,
Oh oh, you look terrible today, Robbie commented. Robbie fluttered
his feathers and Ernie shuddered at the way they tickled

(03:43):
his trunk. Robbie, please, my trunk is so tickle itch.
But Robbie didn't hear him. What are you doing in
town today? Do you want to go to the park,
asked Robbie. A breeze blue and ruffled robin feathers again,
making them tickle Ernie's trunk even more. Hebby bees the tickles.

(04:08):
Ernie sniffled, what's that, Eddie, Your nose has a tickle hare.
Let me get that for you. Robbie began to scratch
Ernie's trunk with his feathers. No ah ah, Ernie tried
his best to hold in his sneeze, but it was
no use. It was just growing larger and more powerful
the longer he tried shap, ernie stuffy nose blasted out

(04:35):
the most powerful, sticky sneeze anyone had ever seen. It
sprayed all over the sidewalk. Oh, the nearby trees, the storefronts,
and oh my covered his friends Easton and Everson, who
were still standing up ahead on the sidewalk. Oh. No,

(04:57):
Ernie fretted, looking around at the sticky, goopy mess his
sneeze had caused. Robbie flew back down from the tree
he had been launched into. It's okay, Ernie, I'll go
get help and off his bird friend flew to get
the rescue team. As Easton and Everson waited for the
rescue team, they tried to move. Ugh. Look, this stuff

(05:21):
is like hot glue. I'm stuck, Easton said, trying to
pull his feet free from the snotty mess. Ugh he too,
said Everson. Then he looked at Ernie, whose ears were
dropping in embarrassment. Head's okay, Ernie, nothing bath can fix,
Everson said, trying to make him feel better. He looked

(05:43):
up at the trees, where the leaves looked like they
were oh dear frozen. Halfway through a powerful wind gust.
The siren of a fire truck grew louder as it
came into view. The people stuck to the sidewalk cheered
in response. Okay, everyone, hold on tight, announced the fire crew.

(06:04):
Some were holding hoses while others loosened the fire hydrants.
Water sprayed from all around, washing away the goopiness that
was trapping their feet, the tree branches, and the store
front doors. After a few minutes, everyone was soaked, but
they were free and happy. Ernie apologized and hurried off

(06:27):
home without getting his tea. He didn't want to accidentally
sneeze on everyone again. Later that afternoon, a knock sounded
on Ernie's door. He answered it and was surprised to
see Easton and Everson standing there holding a big box.

(06:47):
It's a good will package, explained Easton. We help you
feel better, added Everson. Ernie opened it and saw a
new box of his face for a tea, a jar
of honey, lemons, and tissues. He smiled and then began
to sniffle again, itching his nose. Oh well, we'll see

(07:11):
you later, kid, will soon, Easton shouted as the two
of them ran away from the splash zone. Eh a
hey cut egg. Yeah, Ernie released another giant sneeze just
as his friends disappeared down the street and out of
the splash zone. Wow. That is such a great story

(07:34):
to hear about some really great friends. I love hearing
that Easton and Everson. They were there for their friend Ernie,
even though it was kind of gross when he sneezed everywhere.
They still chose to be good friends and got him tea, honey, lemons,
and tissues, all things that would help Ernie feel better.

(07:55):
That's what it means to be a good friend is
helping even when it's hard. So even though this is
the end of our story, I want you to think
about a friend that you could maybe help even if
it's hard. And I hope Ernie gets better soon the end.

(08:21):
Great job, you listened all the way to the end,
and you know what time it is, It's time for
could shout out. So I want to say hey to
Sarah from Ontario, Forrest and Eloise from Michigan, Tamoya from Japan,
Troy from Virginia, and Lee love from California. I'm so

(08:42):
glad that you're all on the Kitchen Stories family. We
could not have this much fun with imagination without you,
my friends. Well, you have a super or duper day
and I'll see you on our next adventure. Bye.
