About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello, it's mister Jim and welcome back to Kids Short Stories.
Today's story is brought to us by two of my friends,
Josh and Januie. Hey, guys, they sent me an awesome
idea for a story, and you can too. Just head
over to kidshort stories dot com. Send me your idea
and maybe we'll turn it into an awesome adventure. Are
you guys ready for an adventure where we teleport into

(00:28):
a fantasy world where your wildest dreams become real life.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Me too, Let's go.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
It was a cloudy, rainy day today and Josh and
Janui did not know what to do. Josh, do you
have any ideas?

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Like? What can we do? Said Januey. I don't know, mom, Dad,
what can we do? We don't have anything to do.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
It's raining outside and I don't know what to do,
said Josh. How about you guys help me clean out
the attic today, said one of their parents. What that
place is disgusting, said januy Ah, it's so like spiders
up there in cobwebs.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Ooh. Josh didn't liked the idea either.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
No, seriously, we really need to clean up the attic
up there, and I could really use the help. Janwiy
and Josh looked at each other and they realized that
they didn't have anything else better to do, so okay.
They ran back up to their rooms to change into
some clothes that could get a little dusty, because, yeah,
the attic of a house is usually pretty dusty and dirty.

(01:47):
Have you ever been in an attic before? Sometimes it
could feel a little scary, but there are oftentimes some
pretty cool treasures up there that you had no idea
that it was even there. I remember when I was
a kid that when I would go in my parents'
attic or in the basement, we would find things from
a very long time ago. I wonder what Janui and

(02:10):
Josh are gonna find up there. As they pulled the
ladder down from the ceiling, Josh was met by a
big burst of dust and cobwebs.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Ah, it's all over my hair.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Oh. Josh ran to the bathroom to wash his face
off from all that big mess. Januy was the first
one to start climbing up the ladder into the attic.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Eh, it's so dark up here. How do you turn
the lights on? Said Januy.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Oh, just there's a light hanging around there somewhere and
with a long string, said one of her parents. Oh,
here it is. As she pulled the string, the light
came on and instantly lit up the entire attic. Whoa.
As she looked around the attic, it was surrounded by
boxes and really old things. You see, I think their

(03:07):
grandparents used to live in this house a long time ago,
and it's hardly ever been touched. All right, finally got
that stuff out of my hair, said Josh as he
poked his head up into the attic. He was still
standing on the ladder because he was a little afraid
of being greeted by more cobwebs and dust. All right,

(03:30):
I think the bad part is over, said Josh. H Josh,
thanks for cleaning in this whole place. Off with your head,
said Janey. Hey mom, what do you want us to
do up here? Shouted Janemy. Why don't you guys first
just take a look around and see if you guys
find anything cool. We're gonna be going through and getting
rid of a lot of stuff, but I'll be up

(03:52):
there in about five minutes, so just explore a little bit,
said their mom. All right, which one should we open first?
Said Josh. Uh, let's do that one. Over there, Januiy
grabbed a box and pulled it down and they opened
it up inside and it was full of old decorations
from different holidays. Wow, look at all this stuff. I

(04:16):
haven't even seen this before. Probably doesn't even work, said Josh.
They closed that box and moved on to the next one.
All right, I picked that one. Josh pulled the box
down and opened it up. It was full of really
old pictures of their family from a long time ago.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Wait, hey, Josh, what's that over there? Said januy Uh Like,
what are you talking about? Said Josh.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Look over there, there's something glowing. She was pointing behind
the boxes they had just moved that there. It looked
like there was something glowing back there. Josh bent down
over the boxes and leaned back to the other side
and reached down and oh, it's a book.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
Look at this.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
They pulled the book out and it was very dusty.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Why do I always find all the dust?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Said Josh. All right, hand it here like, set it
down on the table. Looks really old and really cool,
and it's glowing. The cover of the book it did
have something on it that was glowing. They weren't sure
exactly what it was. It kind of looked like like
glitter would sparkle in a light, but it wasn't reflecting light.

(05:31):
It was creating the light, which I've never seen a
book do that before. Janui carefully opened up the book
and read its first line. Welcome to the fantasy world
where everything you imagine is real, said Janey. To enter,

(05:51):
introduce yourself. What does that mean, said Janey, Oh, it
probably means like you need to say, like, hello, my
name is Josh, and then you can start the book. Wait,
what's happening. As soon as Josh introduced himself, his body
started to fall into the book. Inside he is being

(06:16):
sucked into the book, Josh, Wait, hold on. Janui was
trying to reach for Josh, but it was too late.
He got immediately sucked into the book.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Wait.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Hello, my name's Janwi. She had to go save her brother. Wait,
I gotta tell my mom. Wait raw, Januie and Josh
had suddenly gotten sucked inside of this book. Wait a second,
What in the world kind of book is that said?
Welcome to the fantasy world where everything you imagine is real.

(06:53):
And I think they're going inside of that fantasy world. Well,
far up above in the sky was an evil doctor.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Wa oh oh, oh oh, Purple Ninjas, I think we
had just found that magical book.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Look, you see, they had been tracking and trying to
find this book for many, many years and no one
had entered inside. But as soon as someone enters through
the book, after they say that magic phrase, it sends
out some kind of beacon and that was an alarm
for doctor Stinky Breath. Oh yes, boss, I see that report. Yeah,

(07:35):
there's a spike right there and it looks like well,
it looks like it's just been used not that far
from here. All right, let's go see if we can
track down that book. Oh no, the Purple Ninjas and
Doctor Stinky Breath are close by to where Januie and
Josh have just been sucked inside of this book. What

(07:59):
in the world it's going to happen, I don't know,
but we'll have to wait and see what happens on
the next episode. Great job, you listened all the way
to the end, and you know what time it is.
It's time for kid shout out. I want to say

(08:20):
hey to j from the USA, Ashanee from San Jose,
Zachary and Abbey from Raleigh, North Carolina. Prana from the USA,
Cameron and Emmelin from Vancouver, Mabel and Lincoln from Kansas,
Dominic from Massachusetts, and Vienna and Kingsley from California. I'm
so glad that you're all on the Kid short Story's
family and on our spy team. We could not stop

(08:43):
Doctor Stinkybreath and his team without you, my friends. Well,
you have a super duper day and I will see
you on our next adventure.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Bye.
