About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello friends, It's mister Jim and welcome back to kid
Short Stories. If this is your first time, welcome to
the family. Today's story comes to us from Yash. Hey, Yush,
he sent me an awesome idea first story, and you
can't too. Just head over to our website kidshort stories
dot com. Send me your idea and maybe we'll turn
it into an awesome adventure. Are you guys ready for

(00:26):
a story about meeting a dog wizard that grants wishes
me too? Let's go. Today was the day that Yosh
was going on a really exciting hiking adventure. He loved

(00:47):
to go on hikes outside. Do you like to do
that too? Yeah, it's so fun to go on a
trail with a backpack with gear and maybe some snacks
and maybe your lunch, and you go on a really
exciting hike. Sometimes you might see amazing things, or you

(01:08):
might have to climb over some big rocks or fallen trees,
or you just never know what kind of adventure that
a hike will lead to. Well, Yash was going on
this very exciting hike. All right, Mom and dad, I'll
see you later. Bye. He walked out the door with
his big hiking backpack on his back. He also had

(01:32):
a walking stick because it's really important to go hiking
with a walking stick. I don't know why. It just
makes it more fun and it does help when you're walking.
It can kind of act like an extension of your legs,
so it gives you better balance. Well, Yosh had never
before been on this trail. It was his first time.

(01:55):
He loved going on trails for the first time because
he just never knew what kind of exciting adventure would
lead to. Well, today was unlike any other day before. Wow,
it's such a beautiful day. Yosh was climbing this very
steep trail. When you climb a steep trail, it makes

(02:17):
you breathe really heavy because your body needs lots of
oxygen if it's going to do something amazing like going
on a hiking adventure. And Yash he was climbing a
really steep hill. He finally made it up to this
point where he could look out over the valley and

(02:39):
it was beautiful. Whoa look at that, said Yash. He
could see for miles and miles. It was pretty amazing. Well,
Yash kept walking when all of a sudden, he saw
some dark clouds starting to roll in. Oh my, it's

(03:00):
not supposed to thunderstorm today. Those don't look good. I
need to find some kind of shelter. Yosh started to
look around for somewhere that he could go in case
it started to rain and thunder and lightning, and he
found a cave. Wow, that's a really cool cave. Yosh
had a flashlight that he could light up the cave

(03:23):
and make sure that there weren't any creepy crawleys in there.
There wasn't a very big cave. He could see all
the way to the back of it. As he stepped
inside the cave. It was just in time because the
rain began to fall. Shh, Wow, I made it just
in time, said Yash. As he watched the rain. It

(03:47):
was a very nice, peaceful sound. There wasn't any thunder
and lightning, and this was probably just a short summer rainstorm,
so he wasn't too worried about it. He found a
rock to sit on and eat some of his neck. Woof,
what was that sound, said Yash as he turned around.

(04:10):
There was nothing in the cave, but outside the cave
in the rain was a dog sitting very wet. Oh,
come here, puppy, camere. Yash loved dogs and really all animals.
What's your favorite animal? Is it a dog or a
tiger or a penguin or there's so many to pick from. Well,

(04:35):
as this dog walked inside the cave, it was very
wet and shook its fur. Oh ah, oh, hello pubby,
Yosh realized that he was getting sprayed by the dog's
wet fur. As he was shaking it off, the dog
looked kind of hungry and sad. Oh hey, bubby, hey,

(05:00):
are you hungry? And the dog looked him in the
eyes and without saying a word, Yash knew exactly the answer.
He handed the dog his lunch because he knew that
he was gonna be okay, but he was more worried
about this dog. The dog gobbled it all up. Oh buddy,

(05:21):
you look so hungry. What's your name? I wonder what
your name is? My name is Alfred. What did this
dog just talk? Oh? Yes, I'm actually not a dog.
I'm a wizard and disguise as a dog. You're a what?

(05:48):
Yash started to laugh. Not only had he met a
stalking dog, but a dog that claimed that he was
some kind of wizard. What are you talking about? That
you're a wizard dog. What does that even mean, said Yash.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Well, it means that because you helped me, you are
so kind, I am going to grant you three wishes,
said the wizard dog.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Are you serious, like I can wish for anything? Well, yep,
that's that's pretty much what it means, said Alfred. Oh boy.
Yosh's mind started to race as he imagined all the

(06:34):
different things that he could wish for. If you were
given three wishes, what would you wish for? I don't
know what I would, but let's see what Yash comes
up with. Okay, okay, I love camping and hiking, so
I've always wanted a stove that I can cook all

(06:54):
kinds of food while I'm camping and hiking. How about
camping stove? That that's my first wish, said Yash. Okay Oki,
here you go, said Alfred the Dog, And just like that,
Yash turned around and there was a beautiful, brand new

(07:17):
camping stove sitting right behind him. No way, this actually works.
Yosh was absolutely completely surprised that this actually worked, that
Alfred was really not only a talking dog, but a
real wizard, and he has two more wishes. I can't

(07:39):
believe this. This is the best day of my life,
said Yash. Okay, all right, I gotta make this a
good one. A robot. Yeah, like a robot that uh
can help me and my friends with anything. How about that? Yeah,
that's my second wish. A robot, A helpful robot that

(08:00):
and help with anything. Yosh couldn't wait to see if
this would actually work. Okay, dokey, here you go, said Alfred,
and just like that, beep beep, beep bye, it was
a real robot standing behind Yosh. All right, let's test

(08:25):
this out, said Yash. Robot. Uh, can you make me
something delicious on this stove right here? Peep, absolutely peep,
And just like that, the robots started to cook a
delicious meal.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Uh huh huh.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
This is the best day ever. All right, last wish,
last wish. All my friends, we all love hot wheels,
So my last wish is a hot wheels collection that
is big enough for me and all my friends. Oh dokie,
said Alfred, and just like that again, magically appeared a

(09:05):
ginormous collection of the most amazing hot wheels cars in
the whole wide world. Wow, thank you so much. Wait, wait,
where'd you go? As Yosh turned around, that dog Alfred
was gone. Wow, he really was some kind of wizard
disguise as a dog. Well that was the beginning of

(09:29):
Yosh's amazing day and now he has some pretty cool
new things to show his friends. Wow. I wish I
met Alfred like Yosh did. And that is the end
of our adventure. Great job, you listened all the way

(09:51):
to the end, and you know what time it is.
It's time for good shout out. I want to say
hey to Katie from Minnesota, Elish from Saratoga Springs, New York,
Leone from Vancouver, Reese from Ontario, Kia from Inverness, California,
and Era from Houston, Texas. I'm so glad that you're

(10:14):
all on the Kid Short Story's Family an honors by team.
We could not stop Doctor Stinky Breath without you, my friends.
Will you have a super duper day and I will
see you next time. Bye.
