Speaker 1 (00:00):
M M rude, that's no need distress. She's taking cafe,
she's laid Hi. I'm Arta Marine from Shameless and Statiable,

(00:30):
Chelsea Lately and the I Heart Radio podcast Will You
Accept This Rose? And I'm Julianne Robinson, Emmy and BAFTA
nominated director most recently of Bridgetain and Juliette and I
are hosts of Lady of the Road, a brand new,
funny and inspiring podcast where we have conversations with influential
women about their lives and we get self help advice.

(00:50):
We're always looking to improve ourselves and figure there's no
better source for learning how to be brave, take risks
and advocate for yourself in life and speaking with motivating,
uplifting wan. I mean, let's be real. Here's the thing.
Julianne and I are somewhat shy ladies, even though I
present much different than that. And I think the word

(01:10):
is introverted, introverted, extrovert, and and like, there are certain
blocks that we have in life and we are we
are sick and tired of the things that get in
our way, and so we decided to start a podcast
where we talked to these cool women about areas that
they've learned how to advocate for themselves. Our very first
guest is Joan Jet, which is do you remember when

(01:32):
she was talking about her shyness and how she overcomes it.
I didn't expect that conversation. It was so fascinating to
me that somebody as like such a powerhouse as Joan Jet,
like that she would ever experience stage fright and that yeah,
that just hearing that she has it and that she
sort of works through it anyway, I feel like it's
helping me be braver in my life. Another person that

(01:54):
I loved talking to we spoke with Nicole Buyer, who's
so funny as the host of Nailed It. And you know,
something that I've often struggled with is I'll just sort
of accept any money stuff intimidates me, any kind of
negotiating intimidates me. And Nicole has been sort of this
baller financial gal before she even had one credit and

(02:15):
just hearing her advice on how she she always asks
what other people are making and she's never accepted less
from her very first job. Like, how inspiring was Nicole?
She was? She was amazing. I tell you who else
I love talking to is Kate Walsh. I mean, there's
so many things came out with that that I didn't expect.
I didn't know she was such a business person. She's

(02:38):
like got all these businesses going on, and then the
whole health business. I'm sure she's been very public about it,
but it was it opened up a whole new world
of kind of exploration for us about women in health
and how women are treated by the health care system. Yes,
Kate has been very open about but that she she

(02:59):
had something for easically wrong, and she kept going to
doctors for advice and they just kept trying to give
her pros act they kept saying she was crazy, and
she was saying, no, no, something's wrong with me, and
nobody would listen to her. And it turned out she
actually did have something going on, and like so we
actually talked to a medical health expert about the history
of this with women and how Julianne and I and
all of our listeners how you can go advocate for yourself,

(03:21):
get some tools to help as you go if you're
trying to navigate dealing with the medical situation. So we
are just trying to give tools for people to try
to like have your own back sort of live life
bravely and live life with a little bit of swagger
and and that you don't have to do it alone.
And we're so excited. So listen and subscribe to Lady
of the Road on the I Heart Radio app, Apple

(03:43):
podcast or wherever you get your podcast. The first season
will drop every Thursday, and we don't want you to
miss an episode. We really hope you listen. It's a
really great podcast, and Julianne is so awesome. It's been
such a joy getting to do this with you. Yes, likewise,
and it's being a you are the funniest person on
the planet. Yeah, everybody should listen. It's great. We want

(04:05):
everybody to be a badass. Come on, everybody joined that
I don't know, I don't want to say joined the
what movement? I sound like a call leader, like a
call leather, you know. Do your thing and just listen
to our pod.
