Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good morning everyone, Welcome back to another episode of Legit Check.
I'm your host, easy busta if you guys don't know
by now, Um, well, so far it's been a you know,
pretty rough morning. I'd say I woke up to a
nice fresh l this morning, um, which was nice. You know,
(00:20):
every sneaker had definitely experiences every once in a while,
But this morning the chunky donkey came out, and of
course I took the fattest l imaginable um, just as
pretty much all of us do. I don't know what
kind of wizardry or um backdooring or whatever people have
(00:41):
to do on the sneakers app to get anything, but
I legit have never won a single shoe off of
Nike sneakers. I can never, not once, not once, literally, Like,
if you go to my history, there is not a
single shoe there. Maybe Nike doesn't like me because I
(01:01):
don't put I don't buy like a bunch of random
grs like some people were telling me that. Some people
are telling me that they favor people who like who
buy random grs um their random basketball shoes and random
air forces that eventually go up on the sale. Um,
(01:22):
they go for sale and Um, I guess if if
you buy a bunch of their shoes, you're more favored.
But I really don't know if that's if that's the case,
because that would be kind of messed up if you
think about it. It's like, Okay, whoever spends the most
money on the app gets the shoe, which is lame
(01:42):
because like they are supposed to make it fair for everyone.
Right now, I hear a bunch of different theories for
the sneakers app. I hear that if you put female,
you're more likely to win, if you put a certain size,
you're more likely to win. I don't know, it's just
it's crazy. But um yeah, I've ever won, and I'm
(02:04):
very salty about it, as you guys can tell. But
it's okay. Um well, let's let's start off today by
talking about the Chunky Donkey. So now, is the Chunky
Donkey the hottest slash most hype release of the year. Personally,
I would say so, and honestly, at first, UM, I
(02:27):
had a pair offer to me with no box for
a thousand dollars. It's about a month and a half ago,
and I turned it down. I thought it was too
much because I really liked the shoe, but I really
didn't think that it was going to resell for that high.
I really thought that when they dropped, they were gonna, um,
the price was gonna drop and it was gonna be
(02:48):
like four shoe. But over the last couple of weeks,
for whatever reason, it just became the most hyped shoe.
Everybody's going crazy for it. Like people are like, oh,
this is so ugly, but I'm still gonna buy him anyway.
And it's like, okay, yo, if you really think they're
ugly and you're not gonna wear them, then just don't try,
(03:10):
because you know it's unfair and um, and obviously everybody
should be able to get the shoe. I'm just joking,
but I mean it's been a huge bummer because, like
I feel like the only people who really get them
are resellers, you know, like and I swear somebody who
(03:34):
genuinely wants them and you know, would wear them every
day and like scating them. It's really hard for those people.
But honestly, I think that this shoe is really going
to like maintain its price. I heard that it's actually
rarer than the Travis Scott I speak, and those go
for about twelve right now. Now, if we look at
(03:54):
some of our trusted sneaker apps to see kind of
like how much the chunky Donkeys are going four here,
I'm gonna pull it up right now, Okay, So it
seems like, wow, so the last sale is hundred crazy?
Oh no, no, sorry, last it was eighteen hundred. That's crazy.
(04:16):
So the prices just keep going up. Well, that's in
my size. But let's see last sales seventeen fifty sixteen hundred,
seventeen fifty. Now let's check on the other one. Crazy guys.
By the way, this shoe is a hundred dollars retail,
as you guys might know, so on the other app,
(04:38):
it's wow, eight hundred, like basically almost two thousand crazy crazy.
I really thought that this shoe was going to go
for peanuts after I dropped, but I guess the scarcity
and how difficult it was to get people realized that
not everyone was able to get them, so um, you know,
(05:00):
they probace them really really high. And it's funny because
normally when I go on Twitter after like a release,
I see a bunch of people tweet, oh I got
I got the l or oh I got the dub
and this time, I honestly didn't see a single person
post that they got them, not one person, which is
really strange. And obviously it was I think it was
(05:22):
a sneakers only release, but skate shops got them, so
it's kind of like the Travis s B. But the
Travis s B didn't even go on sneakers, so that
was a difference. I thought that the Chunky Donkey was
gonna go for more, I mean go for less, and
there was gonna be more because of the sneakers thing,
but apparently they're even rare, and the special boxes on
(05:42):
the Chunky Donkeys are so fire. And okay, let's rewind
a little bit for those of you who are listening
who aren't necessarily the biggest sneaker heads. The Chunky Donkey
that I keep mentioning that I know it sounds probably
ridiculous if you're not a aker head is a collab
(06:03):
between Nike s B and Ben and Jerry's, so it's
based in the name is based off of the ice
cream the Chunky Monkey, and obviously it's a Nike has
a B dunk, so they named the Chunky Donkey. So
a lot of people really like it, and a lot
of people really hate it. I mean, the color scheme
is pretty crazy. There's like the faux cow hide um
(06:25):
like print, um the baby blue sky and then um
the yellow drippy swoosh with the rainbow um sock liner.
It's a crazy looking shoe. But I thought it was
dope since like day one, I always thought it was dope.
I didn't think it was going to resell for that much,
(06:46):
but I always thought it was dope. It's definitely a
very polarizing shoe. But so that was the collab and
then now like actually very recently people found out about this.
Like I always thought, like since they want to like dude,
they have to do a special box for these. They
have to do like an ice cream box. Otherwise, like
people are gonna just go buy Ben and Jerry's like
(07:09):
lick like a clean, like they're gonna go buy a
Ben and Cherry's container was what I mean, lick it
clean and then put the shoes inside. So I'm really
happy that they actually did that. I kind of guessed it,
but um, so that that um special box was kind
of leaked or revealed a couple of weeks ago, and
(07:29):
it was it's so sick, dude. It's like a big
ben and Jerry's container says, Nikes be all around it.
And it's crazy. The special box goes for two to
three times more than the regular Like imagine somebody paying
an extra two to three thousand dollars just for a
special box that sneaker heads in a nutshell. Um, but yeah,
(07:55):
it's crazy. It's crazy like this the friends and they're
calling you friends and family. But I'm pretty sure are
some skate shops, um we're raffling them off to um
are going for three to four to five thou dollars
just for that special box, which is crazy. Same shoe,
but with the special box. And I'm pretty sure it
comes with like a shoehorn. It's the thing that helps
(08:17):
you put on your shoes that you basically insert under
your heel and it helps you put them on. Is
that called the shoehorn? I think it is. But anyway, UM,
so yes, the chunky Donkey is that the hype? Is
that the most hype shoe of the air, is it?
I think it is? And I really think that the
prices are gonna stay pretty steady. I can't imagine them
dropping to lower than liked, which I'd be surprised if,
(08:41):
honestly they went that low soon. But such a dope shoe. Um,
I really really really really really hope it drops a
little bit more just I can buy a pair. I
don't have a pair, even though a lot of my
friends do have their earlier pairs. I'm actually kicking myself
because I didn't get that early pair over a month
(09:03):
ago for a thousand dollars and now I'm pissed. So
you know that was not not the best call. But anyway,
let's move on. So moving on past my current L,
let's move on to my next L. That's gonna be
next week, the Travis Scott two seventies. And honestly, I'm
not even gonna say it's an L because I don't
(09:25):
even like I'm going to enter the raffle. But I really,
really I'm not crazy about that shoe. So and I
don't know if that's a really unpopular opinion, but I've
never been a fan of the two seventies. Like, I
know some people like that silhouette, and like even though
Travis puts his name on it, it still does nothing
(09:46):
for me. Like I'm I'm I'm not a. I'm not
really that big of a fan of that shoe. It's
just I think it's just too I don't know, it's
just too weird for me. I don't like the color way. Um,
I don't like the model. The concept is interesting, it's
like a hiking trail shoe, but I mean, apart apart
(10:07):
from that, it's it's really not it's I'm not a fan, Like,
I don't think like if I got it, I honestly
just keep it in my collection. I probably wouldn't wear them. Um,
maybe maybe I would, honestly, but it's just it's just
not a shoe that I really really like, Like I
would just keep it in my collection. And that's pretty
much it, honestly, Like if I take a nail on
those probably not going to buy them, um, just because
(10:31):
I mean, I don't know how much they're gonna resell
for um, and I definitely don't want to spend a
lot of money in a shoe that I don't necessarily
like that much. You know, they're like there, there's for
sure some shoes and I know some of you guys
can pack me up that you know you see and
you're like, yeah, those are whatever, Like if I get
those for retail, I'll buy them. But otherwise, like I'm good,
you know what I mean, And that's definitely one of
(10:53):
those shoes for me. So let's see actually how much
they're reselling for. So wow, Actually in my side, I
size eleven. Last Dale was seven eighty dollars. What but
I guess they're like dropping like drastically, like a week
ago they it was last it was and twelve hundred
(11:14):
thousand and hundred was going to seven hundred. Okay, so
they're dropping, guys. I can't I cannot see this true
selling for more than four fifty five hundred, maybe even less. Honestly,
Like people don't realize this, but Travis does have some
shoes that kind of flop like low key, let's see.
(11:35):
The only reason I don't think this one's gonna be
a complete flop, Like it's still gonna sell out for sure,
But the only reason I don't think this is gonna
be a complete flop is because they're doing a full
um um, what's it called, like a full rollout, which
is what they've done for all the shoes. I think
the only shoe that they didn't really do a full
rullout rollout for was for his like Jordan's thirty threes
(11:58):
and those those like barely go above retail. I'm pretty sure,
or maybe like just a hundred bucks over retail or something,
but I mean they are doing like a rollout. It's interesting.
Let's see I forgot what what the website was called,
but here, let's check it out real quick. Let's check
out a traviss site. So it's really interesting. They did
(12:19):
like a like a hiking theme and my boy and
my boy brad Hole was actually featured, which is crazy,
Like they had him review the shoe. Brad Hole is
like this super quirky um kind of like nerd of
the sneaker world, and he is hilarious. And um, I
(12:43):
saw the video that you know, Travis posted it Captus
Jack post it, which is so cool to see them
actually used a sneaker influencer, which is so dope. I
love his branding, like what he's done with himself, like
it's it's sick. And when I saw brad like on
the actual um TRAVI this website about and on Travis's
(13:04):
Instagram like that, that was like one of the dopest
things I've seen, like shout out to Brad, You're killing it, bro,
that's so sick man, Like I'm I'm so happy for you, dude,
Like that's so dope. Um, okay, so I found the website.
It's called Cactus Trails Trading Co. So the shoes are
meant to be like a trail shoe, like you go
(13:25):
go on the back roads wearing them. And it's funny
like if they have a bunch of fake products, like
the Desert Rug it's nine and it's just warning, this
is not a real product, and the Desert Escape Kit,
which is um the airmax to seventy pre worn socks. Okay,
choose sand and uh yeah, so yeah, it's pretty much
(13:49):
what it comes with it. It's funny that when you
click on it, it takes you to a link for
the shoes. Um, but obviously they're not live yet, so
it says I sign up for details house bull there
thirty dollars now even bigger, so he says this one
also says a warning, this is not a real product,
which is also really funny. It's just a giant bolter
that has has a cactus Jack logo on the side,
(14:12):
So I mean, obviously they're going for like a special branding,
and this website is like super crappy, like looks like
it's from like two thousand and one, and I definitely
think that that's what they were going for, which is
which is really cool. Um let's see. The next one
is the inflatable camp buddy someone to hang out with.
(14:34):
And again, oh wow, okay, so this is literally like
it's like another um. It's like it's like an inflatable
person that just sits next to and it says warning,
this is not a real product and it's going for
two cents. That's funny. I really don't think that. I mean,
I think it would have been funny if they actually
made these products. You know, I feel like some people
(14:56):
are going to be kind of confused and be like yo,
like is this is this real? Like can I buy this?
You know know what I mean? Travis fans are crazy. They
will buy like like a mold of poop with a
Cactus Jack logo on it, like for real, And okay, well,
this is the next one that's kind of funny. Giant
House Cactus makes a great coat rack. Yeah, for sure,
Cactus will definitely make a nice coat rack and just
(15:17):
absolutely destroy whatever fabric you're using. So it's a giant
cactus with a Nike arrow without an arrow with a
Nike logo on it, and there's like a cactus jack
logo made out of wood too. Honestly, I think it's
pretty dope, like low key to get like a big
cactus as like a like a decorative plan, like you
(15:39):
can put this in your backyard. I feel like that
would be pretty cool. Um. But also it says warning,
this is not a real product. And then a cactus
trails Mick Foley in home cut out and uh, it's
like a big cutout of mcfoley and on the shirt
that says let go trail off, stay lit at home.
(16:03):
That's funny. So they're kind of playing into the whole
um social distancing stay at home vibe. I like that.
So it says warning, this is not a real product,
so I guess this might be a actual product, and
it says free, should we buy this right now? A
(16:24):
live cop it's a trail marker. Spray paint not included. Um,
so it's as stencil is real trail marker is not.
So basically it's it's like a real stencil where you
can buy some orange spray paint and you could spray
paint the Nike Swush on him, which I think is
kind of cool because I think that the backwards Nike Swush,
(16:45):
like the big Nike Swush, was supposed to be on
the friends and family only, so that's kind of cool
that Travis is actually doing that. And then it says
backwards Swush trail marker. Free hit the switchbacks of your
backyard with these backwards smooze trailmarkers, slap them on your
Airmax two seventies for fresh take on a time is
classic because true originals do things differently. But then this
(17:08):
is warning this is not a real product. Um huh.
Oh this is interesting too. It says Nike grants you
limited personal, non transferable, non sub licensable, and revocable license
to access and use this stencil pack solely for its
intended purpose and solely for as long as Nike makes
(17:31):
such stencil pack generally available to the public. You do
not acquire any ownership rights in the stencil pack, including
any other trademarks or intellectual property rights, and all content
is intended for personal, noncommercial use. Nike reserves the right
to monitor your use and alter or revoke this license.
To your acts or your access to the sensil pack
at any time for any reason. What wow, okay, So
(17:53):
I guess you download it and then you probably just
printed out. Oh yeah, okay, so you just downloaded and
print it out. It's not that special. I thought you
actually got like a pack in the mail that would
have been sick if it was free, and they actually
sent you this like a really cool pack. Oh it's funny.
At the bottom um of the site, it says it
(18:15):
says this site is optimized for Netscape Navigator four point
x or Internet Explorer four point x. Okay, so that's
how you know it's old. And at the bottom says
get Microsoft Internet Explorer. How many of you guys using
Internet Explorer. I don't think I've used that since I
was like in fourth grade, So that's pretty crazy what
I throwback. And then as the trail guide named Jack costume,
(18:37):
so it's included there's a shirt, sweatpants, and there's a shirt,
sweatshirt and pants. So I guess this is the whole pack.
Oh no, okay, So when you click on it actually
takes you to buy buy the things individually. So I
thought it was the whole pack that would have been
cool if they did like a package deal and it
came in that cool packaging. I feel like a lot
more people would buy it. Um. The next is light.
(19:01):
The trails get toasted and it's a toasted marshmallow pack,
which is funny that they should make this. This is cool.
Well this now it says this is not a real product. Dang,
that would have been cool, dude. But I think that
um Brad Hall actually got all these things, which is
so sick. This is really funny. I'm moving target hoop
(19:23):
vacuum so it's like one of those, uh I can't
I think they're called the room buzz or something that
just vacuum your floora and move around, but this one
has a basketball hoop attached to it. I can't imagine
anything going wrong with that. Imagine you have one of
those and it just like bumps into your door frame
and it just falls and destroys your TV and everything
(19:43):
that in the vicinity. That would be a huge liability,
but definitely very funny. Um that's also not a real product.
And then this next one, Oh, I actually I haven't
even seen this one. Airmax two seventy birds sighting. This
is not a real product. So it's basically like a
very high quality of the frame circular frame with a
seagull holding a holding a pair of the two seventies.
(20:06):
I don't know how they even thought of these things. Okay,
there's an audio book that you can buy. Interesting. Well, actually,
I guess it's not real. So what is real? Yo?
There's like nothing. This is another one that's not a
real product. Cactus Trails Trail mix. Please carry me hiking shoes.
Shoe is real, the kid is not. Okay, so they're
making the kids. This one is funny. I saw this one.
(20:28):
So it's the pre worn socks and um, pre Warren
socks for that lived in life on the trail feel.
And it says not a real product. Thank god, because
that would have been a huge mess. Imagine imagine that
actually coming out that they have like pre Warren socks
like Nike would get crucified. That's so gross. Um crop
(20:49):
circle beetle eats acres into a crop circle overnight. What Okay?
So this says crops circle beetle and it's five thousand dollars,
but it also says this is not a real product.
Why is it so expensive? Let's click on it if
you're home, but no aliens are out there watching. Pony
up and purchase the beetle crop circle. Release your little
(21:11):
guy into a field before bed, and when you wake up,
a completed crop circle will await you. We know life
is out there. It's time to let them know we're
ready to vibe. Yeah, no comment. So the next one
is pre made fire, no matches required. Pre made fire
saves time. And it's just like a box with fire
in it. Um and at the bottom. It's crazy that
(21:34):
it says one point three million people one point three
million ragers have visited the page. That's crazy. Those are
some crazy numbers. But anyway, so this shoe comes out,
when does it come out? Actually? Okay, so these ones
come out on the nine. So I was completely wrong.
And um, the retailing for one seventy, Like I said, guys,
(21:54):
I think they're going to go for like three fifty. Um,
there might be some accessories dropping. I feel like if
I did get him, I would probably spray paint him
because I think I think that's like super cool. Um.
I like how Travis is kind of trying to make
his shoes more interactive in a way, like with the Traviscottsbees.
He did the um tear away Paisley to reveal the
(22:18):
elephant print underneath, which is like super sick. And then
now with this you can like spray paint onto it,
which is really really cool. I like that a lot. UM.
But yeah, I think those are the two hype releases
over the next couple of weeks. UM, I want to see,
like what else. I don't know if anything else is
coming out before I let you guys go UM got that. Um,
(22:42):
we got some thirteens that are coming out. I don't
know if those are that hyped. And then there's like
a UM animal instinct two point oh Jordan's three coming out.
I wasn't really a big fan of the first one,
not really a big fan of the second one, to
be completely honest with you. UM, but yeah, I mean
those are kind of like the big releases that are upcoming. UM.
Apart from that, I'm pretty sure there isn't a whole
(23:06):
lot else that's dropping. I mean in June there's like
some shoes that are meant to drop, But I mean
we'll see. With everything coronavirus related, it's it's been it's
been tough UM to see like what exactly is coming
out what's not coming out? One shoe that I'm actually
really bummed that got canceled altogether because of this. And
(23:28):
this is the last thing, oh um tell you guys
before I let you guys go, is the seven eleven dunk. Now,
A lot of people hated them, thought they were hideous.
I thought they were pretty cool, genuinely, like, I thought
they were pretty cool, and I really like the story
behind them. So, as you guys know, I love sps
because of the stories. So I'm gonna tell you guys
(23:49):
a little bit of a little story time right now.
So seven eleven. Actually, there is more seven elevens in
Japan than anywhere else in the world. And it's crazy
because when I went to Tokyo and I saw like
seven elevens everywhere, I was like, what this is weird.
I'm so used to seeing seven elevens back at home,
Like it's such a it's it's just like a gas
station or a gas station, like you know, shop, it's
(24:12):
nothing special. But in Tokyo it's like they have like
all kinds of different food accessories. It's like a mini
It's like a mini like grocery store, and it was
really interesting to me. I saw them all over the place,
and I was genuinely so confused because I was like, Yo,
what is seven eleven doing in Japan? Like I thought
it was an American thing, but I guess it's a
(24:34):
Japanese thing. And the seven eleven Dunk was supposed to
come out with um uh, the seven eleven dunk for
the Olympics that was going to be in Japan this year,
and since those got canceled and they scrapped the shoe altogether,
which is crazy to me. And let's let's do a
little bit of Let's do a little bit of investigation first.
(24:56):
UM seven eleven, Inc. Is a Japanese American international chain
of convey stores headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The chain was
found in seven as an ice house storefront and Dallas.
It was named Totem Stores between six after sent the
company was acquired by Japanese affiliate Itto Yokado. It was
reorganized as a subsidiary of seven eleven Japan Co Ltd.
(25:18):
In two thousand five and is now held by Chiyoda
Tokyo based seven and I Holdings Ltd. So basically, it
was founded ninety three years ago, and the headquarters are
still in Dallas, I guess. And now it's owned mostly
by a Japanese company, so now they're Japanese, which is crazy.
(25:39):
So there's more seven elevens in Japan than anywhere else,
which it's mind blowing to me. And um, so they
released that to kind of, you know, give some culture
behind Japan for the Olympics. Now a lot of people
are saying that they're completely scrapped altogether. Um, I mean
I think that the Olympics got rescheduled for next year.
I'm not exactly sure. I haven't really been keeping out,
(26:00):
but if they do get rescheduled, I think what they
should drop the shoes too, Like it would be really cool.
But like those shoes just like exploded like astronomically after Um,
like that, they're going for so much more money now
because they got canceled, because obviously, like every shoe that
gets canceled or recalled or something or has some sort
of controversy always goes for a lot of money, especially
like right after it happens. And um, I mean another
(26:25):
shoe too that actually got affected by coronavirus is the
cough um Nike SB High. So now apparently Nike is
recalling that shoe, not recalling, but they're gonna scrap that design,
do the same design, except get rid of the strawberry
that's coughing because they think it's a little bit insensitive
because of the pandemic, which is crazy to me, Like
(26:45):
it's it's so crazy that like this pandemic is literally
affecting shoes, you know, So the cough highs are going
are like blew up too in price because um, I
guess the ones that are coming out are not gonna
have the cough which is interesting. But anyway, guys, is
pretty much all I have for you guys today. Those
are the hype releases of the week. If you're listening
(27:08):
to this, I really hope that you guys did not
take a nail like I did. And I really hope
you guys got got a pair of the Chunky Donkeys.
If you did, slide in my d M and sell
me a pair because your boy really needs a pair.
And um, good luck on the two seventies. I'll check
in with you guys next week. I appreciate you guys
for listening every week as always, and I'm gonna kid
(27:28):
you guys next time. All right peace,
