have your ring light on or what that's it?

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, I have the overhead lights on too. Do you
want me to fix something?

Speaker 1 (00:07):
No, it looks good. I just was wondering why it
looks so good.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
I feel like that's an ouch.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
No, it looks really good.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I know it just it just seemed like it was
like a hateful comment. I'm trying to figure out why
you look good? Who's that girl?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
That's me? I'm all fight.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm a hot girl.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
I'm a hot girl. I get anything I want.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
This is my world.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
I make big moves in my big use. Since the
day there that was one, I've been a big deal.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
How was your weekend?

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Weekend was good. We did a little what we do,
me and Mama Creek. Well actually more me than Mama Creek.
We planted a bunch of plants vegetables for Mother's Day.
So we did that on Saturday all day, had brunch
with a friend who was in town from DC, and
uh we took all a to breakfast. Then I went

(00:53):
home and I just worked my ass off. I was
just freaking pulling soil up. I'm moving this, I'm doing that.
So that's pretty much it. And then we watched The Pit. Mean,
me and my mom watched that new er show called
The Pit.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's literally just ear, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
The same guy and multiple people that were in R
are in this version. Multiple Yeah, I think there's two.
I know Noah Wiley is one, and I know there
was a second one that was also from me.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Did Allie get you a Mother's Day prison? I don't
think you've introduced Ali to the pod.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Oh my god, he's just a precious baby. This is Allie,
say hi Ali?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Woof woof?

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Oh that's him. How is your mother's Day? How was
your weekend?

Speaker 2 (01:34):
It was fine?

Speaker 1 (01:35):
That's it. That's all we're going with.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Yeah, I mean I was. I had a terrible case
of the allergies and so I kind of felt like
shit all weekend and went over hung out with my
nephew and my mom. We watched the new dateline about
the Idaho murders, which was you know, it's right up
my alley. And that's what we did for me.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
You're already watching, already watching before I have to call
me out on that. Okay, my mom, when you texted
me about that, my mom was so excited about the dayline.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, I mean she should be.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
My mom loves cerial murderers. I don't know why. She's
just super into it. I think because in her day,
that was what was poppin', you know. Yeah, it was
actually current events, kind of like it was with you
and the sniper. She had Like I was like, Mom,
what's your favorite serial killer? And she was like, my favorite?
Oh man, it's just so hard to say.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So hard man, there's so many.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
He's so many good ones.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
There's so many good ones.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
And she's like, uh, probably Richard Spec. Richard Speck was
a sick, fucking he was my first.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
That's a deep cut. That's a deep.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Richard Spec. She's like, you remember Richard Speck. He he
was the first to go to jail and put titties on.
And I go, I didn't know. I didn't know that.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I was not aware of that.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I did not And I was like, was he the
one that killed the nurses? Or was John Wayne Gacy?
And she said, I think they both killed nurses.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I thought John Wayne Gacy was kids. He was a clown,
was he?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yes, Well maybe it was just Richard Spect. I thought
John Wayne Gacy killed the nurses too.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
My mom.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Anyway, she was just very excited about the dateline. She's
gonna watch it. She was like, you need to leave
by this time and this time tonight because I'm gonna
watch the dateline about the Ie the Hole serial murderers.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
So okay, they were crazy. It was a good episode.
There was a lot of new information. You know, you should,
you should tune in to it.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Welcome to Let Her Shoot. This is the only podcast
that we know. No, I actually don't think that there's
another one that covers women's sports the way that they
should be covered, the way that we want them covered,
meaning no kid gloves, no bullshit, no extra haterraide, just
respect and a little tea and all the reasons to

(03:45):
stay locked in. We gotta get to some quick topics.
Sarah Sarah Shchovnik here, Trista Crick here. I was listening
to a YouTube earlier. I was trying to get how
they do the intros. They actually, hey guys, hey guys,
it's Trista Crick and Sarah Tchovnik, and this is letter shoot.
That's how they do it.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
That's the girly way to do it.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
That's how that's literally how the girls who have bit
off of Alex Cooper and call her daddy. That's literally
like hey, daddy, gang and they're like, hey, whatever, gang anyway.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
That's how you don't have a gang.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
You don't know, I'm a fucking gang.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
You don't know. Oh, I'm sorry. You just don't. You
just don't bring them here. You just don't share them
with me. Yes, let's talk about.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Back to this headlines.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Women's postseason softball bracket was announced yesterday. The sixty four
teams for the Women's World Women's College World Series Regionals
start the end of this week. It's a mouthful every
time I say it. And super Regionals Regionals, they're sixty
four teams. Top sixteen teams host regionals. Nine of those
are SEC teams, which is a wild amount of teams

(04:55):
from one conference hosting. The streets are telling us, and
by the streets, I mean the Internet is telling me
that the LSU streets, the Internet streets that the LSU
regional is the one to watch because they are going
up against a absolute beast on the mound with Jordi
Ball and Nebraska. Jordi Ball was a women's Every time

(05:20):
I say wc WS, it gets stuck in my mouth.
But she was the MVP in twenty twenty three. You know,
I hate a joke. She already won two titles at Oklahoma.
She transferred two years ago to Nebraska to be closer
to home, and this is kind of her swan song
for her home state. So exciting to watch her play.

(05:41):
And then, do you know I want to talk to
you because I was doing some research about the players
to watch in the World Series this year, and one
of them Najari. I want to say, it's Canadi. Is
how you c A n A d y Canadi? She
went to Stanford last year, was paid a million dollars

(06:01):
in the off season oh to transfer to Texas Tech
a million. She has a higher transfer fee than Naomi Germa,
which I find. I mean, this girl must be everything
that Texas Tech needed. I mean it's obviously paying off.
They're they're hosting a regional. They're twelve seed this year.
But she's a baller and I'm excited to watch her

(06:22):
play in the World Cup, in the World I keep
saying World Cup, in the women's college World Series.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Also as a sophomore. Apparently she was Apparently, because I'm
just googling this USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year beast. Yeah,
and also from Topeka, Kansas. If you saw her, you
would not think she was from Topeka, Kansas. Shout out
to Topeka, Kansas.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
We know we I'm sure we have a really big
following in Tapika, Kansas.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Again, you don't know where my gang is from.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I don't know where your gang is from. First college
softball player to get over the one million dollar I mean,
it's not a transfer fee, but that's essentially I think
we should start calling and ideals it's a I think
we should start calling them transfer fees because that's essentially
what they are.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
If Stanford got any of the money, then that would
be exactly what it is. I think probably these schools
are going to try to get a little paper paper
from those fees as well.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
At some point could be coming we can move on.
PWHL Professional Women's Hockey League playoffs started this past weekend.
Five games were played. So the way that the PWHL
is four teams. Top team gets to pick their opponent,
so they pick like the fourth best team. Number two
team picks, so anyway does get.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
To pick their opponent.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, isn't that strange.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Is there another sport or you get to do this?
Because I've been I've been really trying to advocate for
the MNBA to do this as well, because they have
a play in tournament. Yeah, and so if you're the
one seed, I think you should be able to decide
which team you play against. Whether that's because the ten
plays the nine and the seven plays the eight, and
the winner of seven eight becomes the seven, and then

(07:55):
the loser of seven eight plays the winner of nine
to ten, and then that winner becomes the eight seed.
And I was like, well, what if you end up
having to play a better team that at one point
was like just maybe went through some injury, luck or something,
and now you play a better team than you probably
should have otherwise. If I That's what I've been advocating for.

(08:16):
So this is fucking crazy. You can just choose your opponent.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
You can choose your opponent. So the number one Minnesota
Frost picked the whatever I'm assuming number four, I can't
be sure. Toronto Septors.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
I don't know the name, by the way, Toronto Scepters.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Scepters. I love that, although in my head I keep
calling them the like skepters. I don't know why. It's
just when I read it, it says skeptics. So their
game this week, in their first game. The real big
controversy came out of their first game. Britta Curl Solome,
who has a little bit of a history for some
I don't want to, I don't want to label her

(08:51):
as a dirty player, but the streets are labeling her
as a dirty player. She's the Internet now, the Internet,
the Internet streets are saying dirty player. She has coming
into this game two one game suspensions already for nasty hits,
and then this one happened, and you tell me, I
don't know, it's controversy online.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Look, so she for those who are just watching or
listening on the podcast, the audio version, she just checks
this girl right check into the wall. And there's really
no purpose for it. The puck is not involved in
the play at all. It's almost like she was disinterested

(09:32):
in taking the puck. She let she abandoned puck just
so she could fuck this girl up and actually lost
possession of said puck. Yeah, she's on team She's on
Team Christ as well.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
She's on team Oh yes, I meant to say that.
So so Britta curl is kind of she's she's all
team Christ with Hannah Hidalgo and Corbyn Albert. You know, she's,
she's She's had her share of retweets that have been questioned, and.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
She explained the like likes in the retweets and the
shares in the retweets.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
She's, you know, she's, she's big team Jesus, big anti
gay and big team.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Hey, your beliefs are your beliefs. My beliefs are my beliefs.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Yeah, but I don't believe in you as as I don't.
I believe in the sinner, not the sin type of yep.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Yeah, yeah right.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
So so she's already not, you know, super embraced by
the fan base. But this started up a little bit
of controversy. There were a lot of people and now
a lot of the comments I saw were men who
were saying, like, hockey is hockey, Take a hit and
keep moving. This is just this is behavior, and it's like, whoa, whoa.

(10:39):
We're not talking about the NHL. Here, calm down, We're
talking about the p WHL. Should this was this cleaner
dirty in the p WHL, and the Player Safety Committee
ruled that it was a dirty play and suspended her
for game two, and you know it's what it is.
Toronto won game two, Frost won Game three and now
lead the series to one, also Ottawa char and the

(11:01):
Montreal Victoire. I hope I said that correctly. I think
that's more Parisian French than Quebecua. Yeah, there's like two
different types of French, so I think that.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Was a little more If you think, wait, hold on, Ted,
you think you think based on what I just said,
you can determine whether it was Canadian French or French.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
I can, and I determine that it's more French. So
I think you're wrong, but that's fine.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Go on, go on.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
So this game went for six hours, four overtimes, which
is absolutely insane. Catherine Dubois scored in the one hundred
and thirty fifth Dubois also French, scored in the one
hundred and thirty fifth minute.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
What's crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
We're waiting for the video here.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
It's pulling up. It's pulling it up right now, so
we're just reacting, doing a little live reacting to this.
All right, Oh, that's ridiculous. One hundred and thirty fifth minute,
and that's the game winner.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Baby game winner, and it was a lit crowd. Not
a single person left for six hours, which I mean
doesn't surprise me. For playoff hockey in Canada, I would
I would expect a full crowd to not exit the
arena before it's over. But I mean, what a moment
for women's sports. I mean, what an exciting playoff series

(12:27):
that they're having right now in the PWHL.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
That's exciting stuff. Man, if you're there and you're in Canada,
you've got to be like, this is our time that
you've got two Canadian teams going up against one another.
And yeah, I think six hours for me would probably
be my limits to stay at a game. It's cold
as hell. It's so cold inside of a hockey rink.

(12:50):
Oh yeah, I mean you got extra twitters.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
They have an extra layer of skin. I don't.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I don't know, have an extra layer.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yeah, I mean, I'm assuming it's always hold up there.
So I don't think being inside a hockey arena really
bothers them that much.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
So was the game in Montreal or was it in Ottawa?
It was in Montreal, Okay, So the home team gets
the dub.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
The home team gets the dub. Next one is in Ottawa,
Dubois Dubois.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Gets the dub bois. Wow, did you know that I
wanted to name I wanted to give Oliver Allie my dog.
I wanted to give him a different last name to
make him sound more French, and I wanted to name
his last name. I don't know, Olivier Dubois. That's what
I wanted to dave him.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
You don't. You're not French, You're Polish.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
First of all, you don't have to tell my heritage
on the podcast. Nobody asked for all that I could
be French. You don't know. Didn't you hear my he?
You didn't hear my bon? That was a very authentic bon. Anyway,
exciting stuff. I'm gonna watch the next game. You want
to talk about some t you know, I want to

(13:56):
talk about t you had.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
You had some stuff about Lexi Brown guard for Seattle Storm,
kind of talking about what's been going on with the
rookies welcome this year and you had some feelings about it.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah, can we play the clip just to tee it
up In terms of what she said, I.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Think we have made this a more welcoming environment for
this rookie class, not saying that last year it was
like host overly hostile by any means, but I feel
like we well one because I haven't seen it because
I haven't been online. The energy feels different this year.
Last year it was like complete hostility going into the season,

(14:39):
like it was insane. I never felt that before going
into a season, and like the competitiveness. It wasn't like
there was no competition type energy in that it was
just like just hostile and mean and nasty. This year,
I feel like it's very high level, high energy, competitive, respectful.

(15:00):
That's just how I feel personally. I don't know if
anybody else has anything feels anything differently.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Wow, your reaction to me when you sent this earlier
today was was flabbergasted.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
First of all, she's talking at it both sides of
her damn mouth and the same damn clip she said.
I had to write it down because I was like,
maybe I'm tripping. Maybe she didn't say it wasn't hostile,
and then said it was completely hostile, hostile, mean and
nasty because that's what the clip was. It's like, it
wasn't not saying that it was overly hostile last year,

(15:35):
but it was completely hostile. And hostile and mean and
nasty to these rookies. So okay, we have to talk
about this really fast. Lexi Brown first of all, is
admitting what we've all known last year, which was the
energy around Caitlyn Clark was nasty. It was like, we're
not going to adapt to the league. It's gonna take
you forever to get comfortable. And then anytime she took

(15:59):
a hard screen and it was like, oh, welcome to
the w that's what it's going to be. It's gonna
be physical, and it's like, well, remember seeing these levels
of screens and then looking down over at her, and
then the Twitter comments were just so rambunctious and huge.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
You had teammates, You had teammates cheering on fouls of
Caitlyn Clark too, Like you had a player who would
get fouled and then their teammates would just come off
the bench getting all excited about it. Like there was
clearly a lot of animosity for whatever reason towards her.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
Yes, and then you had all the stuff happening on
WNBA Twitter as well, which is kind of like downplaying
what Caitlyn was going to be able to do. Cheering
on anytime she had a bad game and the reason
there was his But everybody was telling us that there
was no hostility, that's what we were getting one from,
and the pressers were saying, no, this is just how
it is in the w. If you think that this

(16:53):
is an abnormal then you've never watched the W before.
So okay, So that's point one. Lexi Brown is a
permanent fixture on Gilbert Arenas's podcast called Gil's Arena with
Rashad McCant, an former m NBA player, Gilbert Arena's formant,
former m NBA player, some other jokers like Nick Young,

(17:15):
who is like a total clown show player. They make
memes about him. You've probably even seen the meme where
he shoots thinks he's gonna make it and it bricks. Yes,
that's the one. Okay, it's kind of yeah, that's the one, right.
So that's him and so obviously not a serious person.
And they talk about the w NBA on this show
with Lexi Brown, and their point of view has always

(17:37):
been like, let's wear them, make him wear booty shorts,
let's lower the rim, just very disrespectful shit, and she
just kind of less. She's on the show. They brought
Cheryl Swoops onto the fucking show. If I need to
remind you, Cheryl Swoops was like, literally, if if Caitlin
Clark has no haters, Cheryl Swoops is dead. So that's

(17:58):
where it was, and so to be to be on
that show allow everyone to get gas lit into saying
that this is just normal, and then now to come
out and be like, oh, it's just a welcoming environment
for these rookies now. I don't know why, and I'm
not sure why it was so hostile last year, and
it's just like sweet and competitive. If you make a team,
you don't make a team. I'm like, Lexi, you're full

(18:20):
of shit.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
It seems to me that like everyone feels the need
to take a side in the Caitlin Clark debate. It's like,
if Kaitlyn Clark exists, you have to have an opinion
on her existence. You can't just be like, oh, she's
here and she's growing the game, Like it has to
be like I'm anti Caitlin Clark or I'm like like
ride or die for Kitlin Clark. Like there's no middle.

(18:42):
It's just two completely opposite sides. And I don't really
understand why that is.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
You do understand why it is.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
I mean, I do understand why it is, but I
don't understand why it needs to be. Is what I
should say, and.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
Understand why racism needs to be there either. I mean,
I think you just have. And I'm not saying people
are being racist against Caitlin Clark, but what I am
saying is that she's a symbol for a conservative population
that is a small population that is also anti Angel Reese.
And then you've got older players who were making peanuts

(19:17):
with their little home goods peer one oil painting behind
their couch. Meanwhile, Caitlyn Clark's got twenty million coming in,
and so the Golden Goose people are upset that the
Golden Goose wasn't even doing anything in the WNBA yet,
and they were like, oh, yeah, she's gonna change the league.
It's like before They literally are making it out like

(19:37):
she's Jesus before Christ, after death. It's before Caitlin after Caitlin,
which is wild as it relates to how the WNBA
has talked about how she changed the league forever, which
she did.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
I was on a shoot last last year with someone
who was very high up at one point in CBS
Sports and she made a comment and I thought it
was so fascinating. She said, there are people who come
around every now and then who change their sport, and
then there are people who come around every even less
that change sports entirely. And Caitlin Clark is someone who

(20:12):
has changed sports entirely. And I think that that is
what gets lost is I think there's a lot of
people who are like, the WNBA was good before Kitlyn Clark,
and it was. That's fair. It's a very valid argument
the WNBA was good before Kitlin Clark. You look back
at highlights from the ninety seven championship and it sold out. However,
Caitlin Clark. What Caitlin Clark has done for sports in general,

(20:35):
specifically women's sports, and in tune the WNBA cannot be understated.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
The one point that I don't know if I made
it on this podcast or just to you. I have
a friend who is from Iran who owns pistachios and
makes horror movies, and he calls me up and he's like,
how do I invest in women's sports? Anything I'll do.
He's like, all invest in volleyball, all invest in soccer,
all invest in the WNBA. He's like, I don't care

(21:02):
what it is. I'm trying to jump onto this. And
I said, Mark, why do you want to jump on
this right now? And he goes very simple, it's Kaitlin Clark.

Speaker 2 (21:11):
It's the Kitlin Clark effected and it's not going to go.
You can't undo. The difference between Kaitlyn Clark and other
things is you can't undo what Caitlin Clark has done
for women's sports. It is cemented in its legacy at
this point. Even if she walked off the court tomorrow
and never came back, her legacy is cemented at this point.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
Well, they beat the hell out of Brazil and the
rating was still higher than NBA games even though they
beat him by like a bajillion. That just shows you
people are tuning in to see what this girl does.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Seven hundred dollars tickets for that game. Insane. Yeah, so
let's talk a bit about some more fun stuff. But
Lauren Betts is going to be.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Lauren Laura, Lauren Bett.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Lauren Betts is going to be on Ruel Nice. I
get that incredible? Do you mind? Do you mind if
I get that out? I mean, I've never watched a
single second of RuPaul's drag Grace. I hate to admit that,
but I might have to watch that. I might have
to see it, or at least I'll look up the
clips and see it, because I want to see Lauren
Betts with.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
You know, what's incredible about that is that she's taking
I think to me, what I find to be interesting
is she's taking the hate and the criticism that has
come her way, which she's talked about, which is that
people have said mean things about Lauren Betts's Lauren Betch
and her appearance right, and they've they've said very nasty

(22:34):
things about her, about her voice, essentially about her voice.
She's got too deep blue voice. You've got obviously this
anti trans movement, so that's become like the way to
generate hate. And ohws, she's just a man playing women
sports feet tall, and yes, she's got a deep voice.

(22:55):
She's got more masculine features, which is fine. And you
take that, you spin that and you go on RuPaul
drag race. I think that's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
Two middle fingers up to the haters, and I love that.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Yeah, I'm not worried about y'all. I'm so comfortable in
my femininity. I'll go on a drag show. How about that?
I love that.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
I love that. I think that's great. All right, let's
move in to our bigger topics for the day. Let's
go NWSL. Kristin Press. The Kristin Press saga in La
is my favorite storyline this season, hands down. We've gone
over it in every single podcast. She wasn't starting, Riley
Tiernan was getting the start, she was scoring all the goals.

(23:35):
Kristin Press comes in, assists Riley Tiernan on a game
winning goal. Now Kristin Press comes in. She literally the
video is insane because she runs onto the field, she
runs down to the end of the field, and she scores.
It's thirty seconds from when she enters the field to
when she's celebrating her goal, her first goal in twenty
eight months.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
I just love how this continues to be the gift
that keeps on giving.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Is Hapason.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
We're not really sure what Kristin Press is yet. Is
she gonna be the dominant force that she was? Will
she come back from all these injuries? The fact that
her coach is playing her, not playing her, starting her,
not starting her, why she just never starting her, but
just saying maybe he should have started her. There's like
almost this Kristen Press watch when will she be subdistant?

Speaker 2 (24:23):
It's like an alarm that goes off.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
You know, it's on Reddit, girl, like that's the top
of NWSL reddit. Is what she's doing.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
It is, it's well, it's a big topic. Why isn't
Kristin Press playing? I mean, I think that's the and
she comes out and then she scores thirty minutes in
and it's really hard to say Kristin Press shouldn't keep playing.
That's what I'm sorry. Yeah, thirty thirty seconds. It's hard
to say Kristin Press shouldn't be playing. By the way,
Tobin I saw this posted online. But Tobin had the
cutest reaction in the stands of her when like when

(24:52):
should she score? Just like total joy, hands up in
the air, celebrating, looking around at anyone who could who
she could hu. It was adorable. It was really cute.
It was really cute, like she was just like happy
wife on the sidelines, just like making it known. Which
also they posted. H the two of them posted this

(25:12):
thing for Mother's Day with their dog, their new dog,
and goes it is such a me moment. She was
like Bob is the perfect dog. Tobin is not the
perfect wife. And I was like, oh my god, the
shade for no reason. Whatso just throwing shade at her
for no reason?

Speaker 1 (25:30):
Is that? You said, that's a you moment. You would
do that, That's a I would do that.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Yeah, you would do that. Tiger is a perfect Tiger's
a perfect cat.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Tigy.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
I don't say it like that never happened, you never have.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
No.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Nothing scarier though, than when they had a player go
down though, Savvy King goes down in the middle of
the gag.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah, that was a really scary moment. Well seventy fourth minute,
Savvy King. Have you seen them?

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Have you seen her go down?

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yeah? I saw her go down. I watched it a
few times right before the show. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
It's one of those like really bizarre moments. I mean,
we've seen it happen in other sports where you know,
you could just tell something was wrong, and you could
tell it was processing in her head like something is wrong.
I don't know what it is for people who haven't
seen it. Savvy King, Angel City Defender.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
She is. She's on the pick in the twenty twenty
four draft. She is.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
She's on the ball. She gets passed the ball, she
kind of passes it, passes it over to another teammate.
She sits down on the field after she passes it off,
and then the teammate either doesn't see her or doesn't
know what she's doing, passes it back to her, and
she just kind of like kicks it out, the ball
away out from next to her, tries to stand back
up as if she's gonna go back and play, and

(26:47):
then immediately goes back down, lays down. The teammates come
running over to her, and you can kind of see
her say something to somebody, and then all of a sudden,
her eyes are closed, her hands were behind her head,
and it's just droves of medical staff that are flocking
around her. So it's really unknown what is going on.
But it was a very kind of like Damar Hamblin moment,

(27:10):
is what it felt like in the moment of Reporters
don't know what's going on, players don't know what's going on.
And you know, they ended up getting her off the
field several minutes later, but they came back and started
playing the game again. I don't know, what do you think,
do you think they should have come back out and played.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
I was working the night that Damar Hamlin had his
cardiac arrest, and I was on the air for that,
and I remember how it was covered, and I remember
how many outlets were talking about it. It was kind
of a twenty four hour New Cycle thing for multiple days.
And for the same thing to happen maybe even more

(27:45):
scary because it wasn't like she got hit in the chest.
It wasn't like there was an impact. There was a
no contact situation, and for no one really to cover
it that much for the game to just continue because
they were a few seconds from getting to the seventy
fifth minute, which is when you know you can actually
say that the match had been completed, and both of

(28:07):
the teams didn't really want to play anymore. All of
the team mates for both teams are crying and they're
shook up, just like the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati
Bengals were when Damar Hamlin went down. And Savvy King
honestly is a much bigger player, much bigger name than
Damar Hamlin, who was basically barely even on a roster

(28:28):
even as far as last year. He was kind of
just hanging around. He's now playing a lot more. But
you're talking about the second pick in the draft. You're
talking about like a if it was Jamar Chase, that
it happened to what we're talking about, someone who was.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
The potential to be on a national team sooner rather
than later, to be honest, and their head coach even afterwards,
was like, yeah, we probably shouldn't have played that game.
Not to mention, the information that's come out from the
NWSL about this and her condition and her status and
what even happened to begin with has been extremely minimal, which,
of course, like hippa family, share what you want to share,

(29:03):
of course like that, that is your prerogative, but it
should be made clear, hey, we don't have an update
because or there's got to be something you put out
that says, like, hey, she is in this condition. They
said that she was in stable condition and that was
being she was being evaluated, but they didn't say what happened.
They didn't say they just said it called it a
medical event. And I just don't think that does. I

(29:27):
think there needs to be more transparency from the league,
from the teams, to fans to the other players about
what's going on, what's happening and.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Yeah, the whole thing was just handled very improperly, I think,
very poorly. I think it's just kind of the The
thing that I get disappointed about is if this happened
in the men's game, would it have been done.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
The same way.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
I don't think that it would have. Maybe it's just
mean that doesn't know the sport of soccer that well,
but I know football pretty well, American football, I know
basketball pretty well, and I don't think the game would
have can tinued in either one of those cases, especially
considering that they had to take the entire medical staff
away from both teams to attend to her. So what
would have happened if another player somehow would have gone

(30:11):
down with an ACL tear or god forbid, another related issue,
then what do you do?

Speaker 2 (30:16):
And we don't know that what she had was a
heart issues. We don't know if it was asthma, we
don't know if it was siege like. We don't know
what it was. But what we do know is they
had her on oxygen that the reports are they were
giving her chest compressions and doing some sort of life
saving techniques on the field, putting her on a stretcher,
and then taking her off they said she was stable
by the time she left the field, but like, what

(30:38):
does that mean? You know, I think that's.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
As someone who's watching the pit, stable can go to
unstable very fast.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Well, right, I mean again, Damar Hamlin was stable when
they revived him as well, and didn't stop the concern
from everyone watching teammates and they don't know what's going
on with their friend, with their teammate with their you know,
someone who's on the field with them, a starter on
this team and I think asking them to go out
and play is irresponsible. Let's go on to Kansas City.

(31:06):
Their dominance continued. They won again. They had gone on
a two game kind of losing. I don't even really
know that you can call it what they were doing
a streak because they've only lost two games this season,
but they came back and won again. They've now won six,
lost two. Demina has had five goals in eight games,
showinga came back. She scored in this game. I mean,

(31:28):
they just kind of look to to they're just kind
of bulldozing who they play. They're a really strong team,
and I think there's a lot to be said for that.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Why do you think they're not like as heavily covered
as a team like Gotham or The Spirit or Angel City.
Is it just because of the stars that they have
or the players that are dominant on their team that
aren't really sexy.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
Yeah, I mean I think so.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
The only I don't know any of these players. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
So that's the thing about Kansas City is Kansas City
is really built their roster around international players, international talent,
and I think that, you know, there is a sort
of in the NWSL. It's kind of like a it's
not a tear system, but there is sort of like
a fan based tear system in terms of what people watch.
A lot of people who are women's soccer fans in

(32:17):
the United States kind of really only watch the national
team play and don't watch as much NWSL. If these
players aren't from national teams that they watch, meaning the US, Canada, England, Australia,
they don't invest as much in those players. And I
think that as much time, I should say, or attention.
So I think with Kansas City, they don't have that

(32:39):
Sophia Smith on their roster, they don't have that Naomi
Germa on their roster, and so I think despite the
fact that they have last Year's Player Golden Boot. They have,
you know, Debina, who is like an absolute baller for Brazil.
You just don't have that American name recognition on that
team that I think that some of the other teams
Angel City has with you know, sid l Roue and

(33:01):
Angel I mean and Kristen Press and you know Allie Riley,
like you just have those kind of more historically known
names in the game than you do in Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Yeah. And you know what's interesting too is I was
reading an article about the London City Lionesses. I was
trying to figure out with Michelle King and what was
going on with that team. But in my research in
that there was a an article that I read about
the Lioness bump and that essentially is the bump for

(33:31):
their English Premier League. In the women's side, that always
get to bump when it's the World Cup or the Olympics,
and we get all excited about women's soccer around those
periods of time, but when it's not that time, you
don't really have that same level of name recognition or
excitement falls off. And I think that's probably what the

(33:52):
one down fall of this youth movement is is we
don't know any of these players, like you have all
these girls from the current who are in the US
women national team futures camp. But I don't care at
all about the women's national team futures camp. I care
about who I see at the World Cup, who I
see at the Olympics.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
And there are players I mean, like Shawinga is one
of the most exciting players to watch in soccer, not
just in the NWSL but across the world. But she's
not American, and so you don't get that same attachment
to her that you probably should because she's not American,
even though if you watched her, you'd be excited to
watch her because she is a really exciting player and

(34:33):
she is a really fun player to watch.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
And it's not that she's just not American. She's not
playing on a national team that we would see her
play in semifinals or finals. She plays for Malawi, right,
so that is another negative, whereas for example, Martha Weld Cup,
where you will see Marta a lot more.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
For example, or you know, I think a lot of
people are very invested in like the Spanish national team
or the English national team. They know the players on
those teams or Australia's national team Sam Kerr. I think
most soccer fans know and want to watch Sam Kurr play.
But you know, again, it's where you see them. You
see them at the World Cup, you see them at
the Olympics. There's there's an attachment to them from that moment.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
I want to be watching.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, you should be watching, because it's exciting watching.

Speaker 1 (35:22):
I'm gonna be watching the current.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
We're gonna go from from top of the top of
the table to bottom of the Ooh. The Chicago Stars
are bad. They're they're bad. I mean so bad that
I want to talk about specifically. I mean, I'm not
going to get into like why they're so bad. But
mal Al Swanson who recently came out he announced aka Melpew,
recently announced her pregnancy. She was on the sideline for

(35:47):
this Mother's Day game. She has not been with the
team for personal reasons. Now we know those personal reasons
are pregnancy. So she comes, she comes back for the
game and she could not look more miserable on the side,
like look at her. That was by the way, that
was like right after a goal. I want to say
she I think they showed a goal and she just
like I didn't see her.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
She looks discussed all the time.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
Looks like she's probably texting Dan Dan. Oh my god,
I can't speak. Dansby's aide Dansby to dance to get
him traded. Hey, get him out of here, get him
to go to the Mets, go to the Yankees, go
to the Dogs.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
The face, the face is like that kombucha face that
woman who was like ew, that's the face she was making.
And you would imagine that this was a team that
was fucking up. That was post goal, wasn't it.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
There was. They showed her a couple of times on
camera and but that that exact moment may not have
been exactly post goal, but her face post goal looked
the exact same. She didn't look any more excited about it.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
I mean, I think it's it's funny that you put
this as a topic for us to talk about today,
because I was looking at the NWSL standings and I
was like, ew, Chicago, what's going on with them? And
me and you both probably were on the same wavelength
of like, why are they so trash? They hadn't scored
a goal in like three games. They know, literally, they're

(37:07):
just I'm looking at Okay, so you search for them
like Chicago Stars News and it's like, hey, is this
team turning things around finally? And it's like, what are
they turning things around? They've only won one match, they're
just losing by less.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
And they beat Bay City, who's like the second worst team.
It's not like they beat Orlando.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
And like, I just saw that they fired their head coach,
Lauren Donaldson. But that happened a while ago. That happened
a few weeks ago, and I was asking you, how
normalized is that? How often do you fire a coach
six weeks into your season, which I mean to your point,
you're like, it doesn't not happen. But they've they've fired
multiple coaches. This is their fourth firing in five years.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
They can't the Stars haven't been able to. I still,
by the way, they're the Stars now, I still call
them the Red Stars. I'm not exactly sure when they
changed their name from Red Stars to Stars. So if
I say that it's just.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Was the Red Star thing like a communist China thing
that they want to do eliminate or what was that about?

Speaker 2 (38:10):
I genuinely don't know. I don't think that it had
to do with communists Russia though, or China.

Speaker 1 (38:16):
The question though that the question that was like, why
change the name when you're trying to develop a brand.
I don't get that. That's why I think they should
have kept that what was it? Boston? There was a
Boston team in what was it? It was it rugby
or hockey, and they were like they had the what
was that that team? Yeah, Boss Nations? I like that name,

(38:37):
and they were just so, what do you mean, No.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
That's a that's not that's not a take. We want
to have people hated it?

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Why? I don't, To be honest, this is a lesbian take. No,
it's like, is this part of the like the like
the like the lesbian corner where it's like they all
get on Reddit and they all it's like Ashland Harris,
we have to hate Ashland Harris, Like, oh, we have
to hate Boss Nation. No it's not, No, it's just
all NW. It's just all women. I don't know, because

(39:04):
people are very aggressively against Boston Nation, and to me,
I kind of like it, and you kind of just
shamed me for it.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
It was because their line was like too many balls?

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Well, but I didn't say anything about the too many I'm.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Just telling it was the whole marketing bubble that they
presented it in that people were like, no, please take
that back and redo it again. So they just stripped
everything down. It was like they also did this whole
like advertisement campaign that was like there are no women
in Boston, which is also not true because there's a
p WHL team and the Boston NWSL team did used

(39:41):
to exist and then they went away and now they're coming.
It's just it was just not good branding. It was
like they completely forgot about history of women's sports in Boston,
and that was that was a big problem.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Got it. So back to the Red Stars. Their next
running games, they play the Courage probably winmen, but they
play Kansas City. That's a loss definitely.

Speaker 2 (40:01):
At Kansas City, Angel City, Seattle, Portland, Gotham. Like, there's
not really a feasible win in there. I mean, there
is a feasible win in there. They might sneak one out,
but I mean you're kind of looking at like Florida's
SEC schedule last year where you're like, Ooh, I don't
really see a winning here anywhere.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Yeah, that's it's tough. What's the least amount of wins
that you've ever seen in NWS.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
I want to say, like Angel Cities first season, I
think they won like three games. I can't remember, Adrian,
can you check that.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Yeah. I think this team is going to have less
wins than them. I think they end up with two
wins on the season.

Speaker 2 (40:37):
Skyblue FC. Oh so it was it was them and
they won one game.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
And they lost sixteen and had six draws. Yeah, that's yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
I want to say that Carly Lloyd was on that
team too.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
We hate, we hate Carly Lloyd.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
No, we can't say we hate Carly Lloyd. We're just
not Carly Lloyd stands, is what it is.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
She kind of cussed me out in a public setting.
Hate her. I kind of actually, wait, like Carly Lloyd
cursed me out. She didn't curse me out, she just
got she got snippy with me in I thought I
told you this. She got snippy with me in a
World Cup media availability because I asked her whether she
was upset that she was not going to be starting

(41:20):
in the World Cup first time ever.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
I think you could probably end the sentence any question
to Carly Lloyd as are you upset? And the answer
is going to be yes.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
Just no cond But she didn't say yes, upset, Yes,
she didn't say yes. She she looked dead into my
eyes and stood there like just sat there for a
second and said what do you fucking think? And I
was like my god, and I just I was like,
trist to, just don't say any words back. You'll just
make it worse if you say words back. And then

(41:50):
she went on and said, you know I'm a competitor,
of course, Da da da da da. But like I was, like,
part of me was like, damn, did you have to
do me like that? And then part of me was
like that's a real answer.

Speaker 2 (42:01):
I could go off on tangents about that, but we
don't have time today. No, also mostly the M sports
that I have tangents about.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
The M sports. We got to get into some WNBA
preseason though, because it's over so.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Season opens Friday. What are you looking forward to most
about this season?

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Ooh, what am I looking for to most? I think
probably just Dallas and how that flows. I want to
see the star power. I think there's a lot of
movement that happened in the offseason, like Kelsey Plumb going
to LA You've got Jewel Lloyd going to Las Vegas.
So there was a lot of movement. Right, You've got
a bunch of players going to Phoenix. How is that

(42:44):
gonna look? You've got a lot of players that went
over to the Indiana Fever. Now you've got all this
injury issues with the team that just won the championship
in the Liberty. So I think it's how are these
teams going to look and how are they going to gel?
And like how are the rookies going to perform? I
think that's always what we want to know and how

(43:05):
fast does it take for them to to and like
become the version of themselves that we fell in love
with when they played in college.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Who is your dark horse this season? You're I'm calling
it now, this is my championship team.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
I don't think like I'll say that they are a
championship team for sure, because I just think there's a
lot of chalk. There's a lot of really good teams
that continue to do well, and I think you can
never I think that the Minnesota Links have a lot
of motivation because I think they got completely screwed against
the Liberty. I was at the final game and there
was a lot of questionable calls, and I think that

(43:42):
the Links are still really really good, so I wouldn't
count them out. But in terms of a dark horse
that I think can make a deep run, and I
wouldn't be surprised if they shock the hell out of
a lot of people. And I know this is like
a very obvious one because this is like a Very's
gonna be a lot of casual fans that say this too,
But there's there's backing behind it, and it's the Fever.

(44:05):
The Fever are gonna be really really good. They're gonna
be really good.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
And is that like Caitlyn Clark is gonna win a
championship or is that like the Fever as a whole
are gonna win a championship.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
The Fever as a whole are gonna be really really
really good. You've got Christy Sides, who was trash. Everyone
knows she was trash. The offense that she ran made
no sense. She got much better at the end, of course,
and a lot of that's Caitlyn Clark saying we're gonna
run the ball. We're gonna be fast and push out
and transition. But she's out. Stephanie White, who's a legend.

(44:38):
She's in. She's a former Fever player, won a title
with them in twenty twelve. You got a lot of
dead weight out. You got Grace Berger out, Katie Luce,
Samuelson out, Christy Wallace out, Tammy fag Benle, who I
liked a lot out, Melissa Smith who was very mid out.
So let's Taylor out, Maya call Well out. So you
got seven players who really didn't have any impact into

(44:59):
the road they are gone. And then you add Sophie Cunningham,
who we've already talked about before on the pods. He's
a dog, Natasha Howard really good, Brianna Turner, Dowana Bonner,
and Sidney Colson in. So they add toughness, they add height.
Natasha Howard is a three time champion, two time All Star,
one Defensive Player of the Year. You add veteran experience

(45:22):
in Dewana Bonner, who's also very tall as well, six'.
Four she's a two time, champ she's a six Time All,
star three Time All defensive, player and she won A
DPO y as. Well so you add a backup point
guard In Sydney, colson WHO i don't think is going
to make a lot of, impact but she's a good
locker room. Person and so now you've got a team
that can. Defend they can shoot. Threes Lexi hole shot

(45:45):
fifty seven percent from three last. Year Sophie cunningham was
twelfth in the w last year and three point. Percentage
and they have a bunch of veterans that have. Won
so you have a bunch of players THAT i think
are now Surrounding Caitlin clark who can and then you
still have the same players that were playing really well
right Like Leah boston's of the, world and you've got
The Alexi holes of the world that are still. There

(46:07):
Kelsey mitchell's is still GONNA i think she's gonna take a.
Step this is a team that in the back half
after The olympic break was. Electric if they can continue
that mojo starting the year because they had a really
tough beginning of the year last, year their schedule was insanely,
tough this is a team that could be a top
seed and make some.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
Noise they also got an all star, tweeter, tweet, twet, Threader,
instagram whatever you want to call Sid, coulson but she
is probably one of my favorite people. ONLINE i love.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
IT i love what she. Does she's just a funny
presence and she was a big reason that The aces
were a, fun lighthearted team as. Well, yeah she's she's
gonna be she's gonna be tweeting some stuff and she's
gonna get in the.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
MIX i watched pretty much The Matt gala Through Sid
Colson's twitter because it, WAS i, mean just j new And.
Lee one of the greatest critiques she, called what did
she say To Brianna. Stewart she said that her outfit
was the final what the lesbians needed From First Wives.

(47:11):
Club it was, like it, Was she's so. FUNNY i want,
her you know, what that's that's my that's my dream.
Dream first guest for letter shoot Is Sid coulson me.

Speaker 1 (47:21):
Too that WAS i actually wanted to do something with
her at one, point SO i found out that her
AND tp had a a podcast. Already she was so.
Funny she, said AM i? Tripping or Does Cheyenne sellers
look Like jordan From The Bernie Mac, Show and then
she posted them.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Both she's got no, filter WHICH i think is my
favorite part about. Her you brought Up Cheyenne sellers and
you don't think she's gonna make it past cut. Season to.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
YOU i saw her on The dream in that preseason.
Game she's only had one practice on one preseason, game
and she was wide, open had the ball and looked
like she had never touched a basketball in her. Life
her confidence looks. Shot she doesn't look like she is
comfortable out there in any. Way it Doesn't it's gonna be.
HARD i think somebody said it's so sad that she

(48:08):
posted on TikTok her like day in the life when
she got picked up by The, dream because it's gonna
be even more heartbreaking when they cut. Her it's a.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
BUMMER i, MEAN i, WAS i was really rooting For
Chyanne cellars and, like you never, know she could. Go
she could go play across the sea With. Sedona across the.
Sea across the.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
Sea did you, see by the, way nobody ever says.
That nobody ever says cross the, sea she crosses.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
Both. Listen i've been watching a ton of revolutionary war documentaries,
recently and so they like cross.

Speaker 1 (48:40):
The, sea across the, Pond she's going to cross the,
pond play overseas.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
Nevers A british accent. Before how is it on a
scale of one to.

Speaker 1 (48:50):
Ten don't say what it. IS i don't want to.
KNOW i think it's. Bad i'll give you a.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
Five i'll give you a.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
Five that was even more hurtful THAN i.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Expected All, right cut, season you were talking about cut.
Season we were mid cut across the. Seas but there's
been a lot of.

Speaker 1 (49:08):
Cuts Deja, Kelly, Kelly Dejah. Kelly it was more. Surprising
she cooked for The aces in a preseason, game had
a game, winner she was all on social. Media they
had her highlights, up AND i really Like Dejah. Kelly
Obviously i'm An oregon, grad So i'm rooting for. Her,
SO i, mean it's just a cold, world it really.
Is THE wnba doesn't have enough roster spots to support

(49:31):
as many good players as you would imagine would make.
Teams and So Harmony turner was also cut by The.
Aces she did a funny tip Tak.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
Yeah one of the best feel good stories from the
tournament in the draft Was Harmony turner. Too so it's
kind of, like, man it's. Bummer it's a bummer for
these girls because some of, them, really you, know a
lot of them really deserve spots to, develop and unfortunately
it feels like it's kind of one of those, leagues
like you can't develop as much in the. League you
have to be developed before you get.

Speaker 1 (49:59):
There it's a good thing these girls have to be
in school for four or five years because if you
were able to come out, earlier there's a lot of
cocky ass players that would be trying to test their
luck and they would be cut. Immediately, WELL i, mean,
yeah developing doesn't come into the W. Nba that happens in.
College that happens across the, sea across the.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
Sea across The Sedona prince went and. PLAYED i guess
was she in Like lithuania.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
Or it's, insane This Sedonah prince story because she she
joined a team that's in mid season right and, played
and they're in AND i think they're in the.

Speaker 2 (50:37):
Playoffs they, are and she joined and then she like
tweeted Like i'm never coming back To america and everyone was,
like don't threaten us with a good, time like, like
it is kind of crazy that she was Like i'm
never coming. Back this is what you get and people are, like,
GOOD i, don't we don't want you.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
There she signed with Al. RIOTTI i think it's An
israeli Team.

Speaker 2 (50:57):
Israeli is that where she's an Israel.

Speaker 1 (50:58):
No, no, no, no, no it's. Not, no she's. Not she's.
Not excuse, me that's my. Bad bea, route my, Bad,
beayroot which is In.

Speaker 2 (51:04):
Lebanon she's In, Lebanon lebanon.

Speaker 1 (51:07):
Exiled they said she was that EXILE a. One barrett
said That Sedona prince has been.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Exiled she has, been she has been cross country.

Speaker 1 (51:16):
Traded she's it's gone From hope you, Know, chinese to
hope you Know. Arabic she had thirteen, points nine, rebounds three,
assists two, blocks one steal in her first. GAME i
can't believe she just is able to go in. There
they're one win away from going to the championship. Game
that's just. Wild but she played a team mid.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
Season all, right let's let's get to let's get to the.
End let's let's cook on some. Topics let's.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
Cook let her, Cook let's let her, Cook let her.

Speaker 2 (51:44):
COOK i want you to cook the Angel Reese.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
Hayters did you see? This? This this s bleacher. Report
no shade to Bleacher, report but slight shade to Bleacher
this shade to this, headline for, sure shade shade to
the editor of This Bleacher report, article because sometimes it's
not the, writer it's the. Editor so it Says Angel
reese DISAPPOINTS wnba fans As Van lit And sky lose

(52:13):
To collier and The links in, Preseason, okay is that
just not an. Seo i'm just gonna try to get
as many names in this headline AS i possibly, can
because this is a, team The, links The Minnesota, LINX
i just said was. SUPPOSED i thought we should probably
win the, chip, right and you lose by five to The.

(52:35):
Links and The sky didn't even make the playoffs last.
Year they were an utter dumpster fire in every, way
and so they wanted to say That Angel reese was
the reason that she disappointed, fans AND i just feel
like the hate is already coming for. Her i'm getting
her stats from this. GAME i don't THINK i think

(52:56):
she only had like three. Rebounds let's see what it.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
Was but why is it? That, like BECAUSE i see
this all the, time people are always, like, oh, Well
Angel grease doesn't score enough, points and it's, like, yeah
but aren't there like plenty of players in THE mnba
that don't score a lot of points and they're in
for defensive, Purposes, like why is that a must For Angel?

Speaker 1 (53:15):
Reaves, YEAH i agree with. That there are players that
are known for their defensive. Prowess they usually get cooked as.
Well there's a Guy Rudy, gobert Multiple Defensive player of The,
year can't really score. Much he did have a couple
of good games recently in the, playoffs but that's not his.
Thing he's just known as like a rebounder and a,
defender and those guys get made fun of as. Well
So Angel reaves ten, points three, rebounds five. Assists she

(53:38):
shot two for eight six of eight from the free throw.
Line WHAT i will say she did have five assists
though that's that's a lot for a. Center BUT i
think the thing that pisses me off about this THAT
i was like wanting to cook on is that this
is not what the preseason is. For the preseason is
to determine who you're, cutting who are you keeping on this.
Team we're gonna get our vets or are you know

(54:00):
who have been on this team for over a. Year
we're gonna get them some. Reps we're gonna get their
feetback under, them make sure that they are instituting the
new offense and they're figuring things out before real games.
Happen but this isn't like the time for us to
Assess Angel reese's. Development this is not the time for
us to be, Like, Oh Angel reese only so and

(54:20):
so amount of, rebounds only so and so amount of.
Points so she still can't she still can't shoot layups or.
SO i am so tired of people who always want
to find ways to hate On Angel reeves. Personally AND
i thought that headline was disparaging unnecessarily.

Speaker 2 (54:38):
It, is and it seems like that's The you have
to pick a, Side you have to pick a, side
and it feels like the media prefers to Make angel
out to BE i, mean because, no There's Kaitlin clark's
name is nowhere in that. Headline but to, me that
headline Screams Caitlin clark, fans click on.

Speaker 1 (54:56):
This, yes do you guys want to shot On Angel
reese on this? Headline?

Speaker 2 (55:01):
Correct it's not, like, hey we're going to tell you
about like What angel rees. Did it's, like, hey you
want to go Bash Angel reese a little, bit click
on this? Headline AND i just think that's kind of.
Shitty doesn't need to be Like. Angel Our Angel reese
Is Caitlin clark's, nemesis and that's why we have to hate.

Speaker 1 (55:16):
Her, well and you know, that by the, way before
we move on to what you're cooking, on WHICH i
can't wait to. Hear so they've Got rivalry week in
the W nba In, august and The sky are playing
The fever during. Rivalry of course they, are of course they,
are WHICH i think is just kind of like just
low hanging. Fruit are The fever and The sky really a?
RIVALRY i don't.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Know the fan bases are. Rivalries it's not.

Speaker 1 (55:39):
Correct it's not the, players it's not the.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
Teams it has nothing to do with. Either and if
either of those two players, left either of those two,
teams A fever And sky rivalry would be. Dead, YEAH
i mean.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
Like if The dream and The, knicks then, yeah then
The fever would be rivals with The. Dream it's really
just An Angel Reese Caitlin. Clark you can't see me
as all the reason of this kind of a, scenario
all because because lsu VERSUS iowa.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
All that that's the only, reason and it's just like
carried over and IT'S i just think it's kind of
like we're beating a dead horse at this. Point, agreed
you gonna Cook. Cook i'm gonna Cook stanford right. Now
like the. UNIVERSITY i watched this the e sixty On
Katie myers, story and this was the STORY i, KNEW
i was familiar. WITH i followed it since it, happened

(56:28):
but hearing the details laid out made me angrier hearing
it now in one. Spot so for people who don't
know The Katie myers, Story Katie myers was the goalkeeper
At Stanford university and she Helped she was on the
twenty nineteen AND cuaa championship team and that, team by the,
way insanely. Stacked who else was on that Team Naomi,

(56:50):
Germa Sophia, Smith, Oh she Bed, Ooh Katerina. Macario this
is like the quarterback room Of alabama when they had you, Know,
Bryce Matt tua and Like Jay, hurts all all in
one room like this. Is that's what the twenty Nineteen
stanford team. Was Katie meyers starting. Goalie she goes viral
for the shootout in the National championship and she made

(57:14):
some of the most insane saves that you'll ever see
at a collegiate or professional. LEVEL i mean just insane
saves and she was like getting in the camera's. Face
she was kind of doing the like you can't see
me that she had that energy that she was bringing
in to the. Game flash forward a couple of years

(57:34):
and in a really stunning announcement in twenty twenty, two
we get a headline That Katie myers has committed, suicide
AND i remember it rocked the community soccer community really.
Hard naomi And sophia have both spoken about it at
length about mental. Health katie was a champion for mental
health and she did a podcast on mental. Health she

(57:54):
talked about mental health a. Lot after she commits, suicide
her parents start looking into to what caused, this and
what they found was an egregious flaw By Stanford. University that,
year a freshman on the team went to her and
the rest of the team and made a complaint about
a sexual harassment against a football. Player took it to the,

(58:17):
school the school decided there was nothing to look. Into
katie ran into that player on, campus had a you
know whatever kind of confrontation it. Was it ends with
her throwing a cup of coffee on. Him that was.
It he tells the, UNIVERSITY i don't want to press.
CHARGES i don't want to get into it LIKE i
probably you, know whatever he, said he thought he deserved,

(58:38):
it or he thought it wasn't worth ruining her life,
over and he, SAID i don't want to press. Charges
i'm not filing a. Complaint katie then finds out later
on that the dean of the university has taken it
upon herself to file this charge without a complaining. Witness
the player Against Katie. Meyer they interview her and then
they don't speak to her for six. Months on the

(59:00):
last day that they are able to, say, hey by the,
way we're going to hold you from, graduating they. Do
at ten o'clock at, night she gets an email from
the professor or from THE hr department at, school The
office Of Community, standards and says we're putting a hold
on your degree and you're going to have to go
on trial about. This she is worried that she's not
going to get into law, school she's going to not

(59:22):
be able to get drafted her she's, unraveling and sometime
between ten pm that night and six am the next,
morning she commits. Suicide and up until this doc came.
OUT i think a lot was unknown about what that process.
Was and it's very clear to me That Stanford. University
the family has now Sued stanford over their. Process and

(59:42):
if you watch this, like you'll see that there was
no care for her or her mental health or any
student's mental health from those. Germs these are, KIDS i,
mean they're twenty, one twenty two year old, kids twenty
year old kids who are facing life for the first.
Time and to tell, them you, know, hey you're not
going to graduate because you were defending a, FRIEND i,
MEAN i think THAT'S i think it's shameful Of stanford

(01:00:04):
and the way that they've tried to now smear her,
name the way that the dean and the people on
campus that have been named in this suit have been
smearing her name about how she was a probably you,
know this probably came from her, childhood and this probably
came from her, parents and, like it's just all these.
Things they will do anything but take accountability.

Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Well AND i think what was really sad about the
way that they handled. It, also, furthermore what was also
very sad is the parents had no idea that any
of this was going on behind the. Scenes none and
she didn't let them know that there was any issues
or any so they they had been talking to a very,
chipper normal version of their daughter and then the next

(01:00:49):
day they know it like she's.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
GONE i think it's just just an overarching thing that
we see happen in collegiate sports and student, athletes is
that how much support these kids getting from the. University
how much support are they getting from you, know they
are their expectations and now this was BEFORE, nil but
now even more so it's a career and you're a,
student and you're also earning money for your, university and

(01:01:15):
they're training like.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
EMPLOYEES i wonder if she was a junior AND nil
was a, thing whether this would, happen whether they could
have gotten another year of this team's success and they
would have let that. Go because there are a lot
of UNIVERSITIES i think that care more about the accolades
of their team and how they've seen in the media
and team success than they are, about you, know the

(01:01:38):
well being of the students.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
Today AND i do wonder too how much the dean
would have pushed for an investigation had it not been
a football, player, because as we've seen on a lot of,
campuses football players are.

Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
King, Yeah AND i think the way That stanford handled
it in terms of waiting till the very last, minute
just dropping it on her not really having any regard
for the timing of it WAS i do think there's
really not ANY i don't. KNOW i GUESS i don't
really know why or how the suit is going to
come to any sort of, resolve because you can't really

(01:02:13):
say to a, university, well you're responsible for her Committing,
yeah you're responsible for her committing suicide based on them
suspending her or expelling because those things happen in, universities
regardless if that was if they thought that was you
know WHAT i, Mean, like you can't foresee what type
of mental state a student is in when you make
when you have repercussions or consequences for what you think

(01:02:35):
is like valid decisions within a. University SO i have
no idea how this is going to. GO i honestly
was shocked that there was a lawsuit to begin. With
And i'm on Team. Katie i'm on the. SIDE i
have no idea what they're they're suing. For enough about that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
The reason that they're, Suing, YEAH i, mean that's a.
Valid that's a valid thing you brought. Up the reason
that they're suing is because This office Of Community standards
IS ocs been found in years prior To katie's, suicide
had been found to be have a lot of flaws
in their system that would have that were pointed that

(01:03:12):
they knew that the signs were pointing to this. Happening
by the way that this office continued to notify. People
the process that they went through was very like guilty
until proven, innocent not innocent until proven, guilty and so
they had already been warned a. Lot there had been
internal investigations into. This they have since since the year
after they completely changed their process of doing, Things so

(01:03:36):
they did know that there was a. Problem they did
know that there was. Issues part of what happened with
this lawsuit was they were have since been able to
pass a law In california Called Katie Meyer's law that
essentially requires universities who are presenting disciplinary action to students
have to provide them with an advisor and with more

(01:03:56):
instructions and not just basically leave them out in the,
cold which is what they Did, katie which was, like,
hey figure this out on your. Own but you're probably
going to get, expelled is essentially what they sent to
her at like ten o'clock at. Night and so the
whole purpose of this law is to create a buffer
system where they have an advisor who gives them this
information and walks them through how to go on trial
and all of. That it's not necessarily Should stanford have

(01:04:18):
put her on, this but more so the way that
they went about it should have been more careful to
someone's mental.

Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
State, definitely that was longer than our normal letter, cook
but it was very. Complicated it was very. Lad there's
not a lot of people who know about this. EITHER
i mean there's a lot of soccer fans that would,
know but casual everyday sports. FANS i didn't know that
much about this at.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
All before we, leave we have some breaking. News what is?
It Connecticut son is officially on the market for About
they valued it at eighty million? Dollars is that a too?
Much too? Little Connecticut? Sun are you going to put
in some money for?

Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
Them that's that's hilarious to me because we've remember The
liberty were. SOLD i know that yesterday's price saint today's,
price BUT i think The liberty were sold for like
ten million back in twenty, eighteen twenty. Nineteen so and
obviously The New york yeah to steal and The liberty
obviously a better, market better, situation better, city better, facilities better.

(01:05:16):
Players The Conneticut's son are in the middle of nowhere
and they have bad. Facilities they had players completely. Leave
this does not shock, me considering that everyone, left every star.
PLAYER i think all of their starting five got, traded basically.
Saying Even Alissa thomas last year was, Like i'm not gonna.
Stay these facilities are. TRASH i don't like the way

(01:05:37):
THAT i take care of my, body blah blah. Blah
so she goes To, phoenix which has state of the art,
Facilities and that's not shocking that all of a sudden
these owners are, like, yeah we're not gonna do all.
That we might as well just sell the team right.

Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Now Tasha cloud didn't even play.

Speaker 1 (01:05:50):
There she, second they're just Like foot In.

Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
Connecticut she's, like y'all are.

Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Crazy i'm not going. Out so now she's playing for The. Liberty,
yeah she's going playing for The. Liberty The Hospital Wing, liberty.

Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
The Hospital Wing.

Speaker 1 (01:06:05):
LIBERTY a lot of players injured on the liberty right
now because, hopefully hopefully they'll, go hopefully they.

Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Relocate, honestly, well that's our whole episode. Today that's the.
