Obviously I appreciate, I'm honored that you trusted me to
helm the ship while you were gone, But oh my god,
your absence was so palpable, and I could not wait
for you to come back.

So I watched every week from my sick bed and
was like, oh, so wanted you know me.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I had so many notes.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Yeah, and I was hoping that you were you know,
obviously I wanted you to get better. I wanted you to recuperate.
But also I was like, oh God, I hope she's watching,
and I think she I can't wait to hear it.

She has to say about all this stuff. What happened?

A lot has happened.

There was the first of all, just to go back
for one quick, hot second the dedication week, I thought
I was in some lucid dream because I was sick
because it was so I was like, no one can
judge this, They can't judge us. And then no one
was eliminated, obviously, but I was just like.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Beautiful, heart warming, but I was like, oh my gosh.
And then what was the week after?

What was the week after?

Oh my gosh, Wicked Night, Wicked Night.

Oh, Wicked Night. That was a good night. I enjoyed that.

Wicked was great. It was a lot of fun. And
we've had some guest judges in the time since you've
been away. That's been really exciting.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
I know, I liked seeing that a lot. That was
very fun. And then Halloween Night. Of course, you know,
whores are jam together as friends, so I was so
bummed not to do that one with you.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
That was really really cool.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
I was a little shocked at the bottom two, yes,
because I'm like, come on, Whitney's not in the bottom two.
But what a great drama effect it is to have
the two Mormon wives here, Whitney and Jen. And I
was like, this makes me feel like something's all but okay.

You know, so we'll get into it more in this
this episode. But I said this on the pod, but
I have a theory that I don't know if you
saw this, but like Whitney and Mark were going to
like they were doing a giveaway for their for tickets
to the taping, and then they had to like quickly
stop and say, we're not allowed to do that. And
they kind of threw like ABC and the BBC like

under the like oh, they said we couldn't do it.
And so I think putting them in the bottom two
or like you know, we say the bottom two, there's
really it's like one one person's at the bottom and
the rest are for dramatic effect.

But I think that was the production trying to punish
them for doing this weird ticket giveaway thing.

That's my theory, valid theory, but it is also great TV.

Two Mormon wives against each other being eliminated. I mean,
we knew Yan was gonna go oh yeah, yeah, poor guy.
There's so many comments from the judges and then Max
doing everything and going going social.

I was like, Okay, this guy's out, but.

And Jen went along with him. She's really great. Okay,

Roll Hall of Fame.

I saw on because I follow the Beach Boys on Instagram.
I'm a huge Beach Boys fan, and I they were
posting with him. They did a collab with Andy, and

I was and I'm like, oh my god, he's dancing
to a Each Boy song.

So that was the only one I knew about in advance,
and I was so excited. But there's so many great
songs to choose from Uh, I'm really curious what you
think about the guest judge Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame member Flavor Flav.

Well, Flavor Flav is my boyfriend. I'm just kidding.

I always say that when we see each other on
the red carpet, we always have like a fun interaction.
We're friends. I love him, he loves me. How how
in what world can he weigh in on ballroom dances

and moves and technicality?

I love him, but it's just.

A yeah, I agree with you, and again I'm last season,
I watched the first two episodes and then there was
a horrible event that happened that that I could not watch.

After the elimination of Toy Spelling, I just stopped watching.
I didn't watch.

I was like, wait, what happened in your life? I
don't remember this last year?

Yeah, So this is like the most I've watched ever,
and so like, I don't know, you know, I don't
know if they've done guests.

I assume they do guesses. That's just something they've always done.

But so, you know, my first foray into this and going, like,
so far we've had uh, I can't remember her name
but we had a we had a former.

Dancer, right, we had Cheryl Burke.

Well, we had Cheryl Burke, and then we had John
m chu the director of Wicked, who uh is a fan.
Like not only is he like he you know, he
makes musicals, uh, but he's also just a massive Dancing
with the Stars fan, so he like he knew what
to look for, he knew how to give comments to
ax that.

I was okay with that.

Yeah, that makes sense to me. Sense and uh yeah,
so that that made sense to me. This one. I
was like, Flavor Flame is great.

He's great. He has energy that is unparalleled.

He has so much going to be watching him. I
loved it, Yeah, of course.

And like watching him like come out was he had
such a cool, like grand entrance. I'm like, oh, this
is gonna be a lot of fun. And then immediately
I was like, oh, no, this is he doesn't know
what to look for.

I and I got to be honest and you know,
so kind of him, but him giving tens, I just
felt like it threw off the scores for the night.

I was just like, I don't know.

Yeah, he really threw off the average.

I was at one point I was wondering if he
was going to try and do like, uh like ten
million or something, and then he was a type of
one in by accident and like his score review one,
I thought that would.

And it was like when he was giving his feedback
and commentary, it just he felt out of his league,
which he's such a confident, brilliant performance guy. Like I
was just like my heart was sinking for him as
a friend because I was like, yeah, he doesn't know

what to say, Like, I don't know it really, I
think threw the show off. And I don't want to
get in trouble for saying this because we're friends, but yeah,
I don't know.

Yeah, it's you know, and we'll we'll get into this
as the as the show goes on. But once again,
this is rock and Roll Hall of Fame night. On
Dancing with the Stars, Season thirty four, Week eight, we're
in the Elite eight here, so let's see our first

I'm still standing by Elton John. This was really exciting, Uh,
I'm you know, I know this song, but I hadn't
like seen the music video or anything. Uh connection to
our our favorite judge, Bruno Tennoli. I think I'm saying
his name right, but Bruno is in the music video
for this song. So you know, one could call this pandering,
one could call this a fun connection. Uh, but it

was a really it was a great dance, a move,
very very.

Very smart, strategic move from Dylan and Daniella.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
But uh, the like rehearsal package, I loved it opened
up with Dylan saying I have PTSD from my broken
nose and just like saying that very confidently.

I thought that was funny.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
And he somehow he got Daniella broke his nose during
rehearsals last week. He somehow became more attractive when that happened.
He is just a force of nature, Dylan Lefron A god,
he really is. Yeah, I mean I love this dance.
He like slid on his stomach right off the bat
like on the floor. It was, Uh, it was fun

to watch. He's just gotten so good in the last
few weeks. I'm so impressed with him.

And obviously they opened the show because they were like, Okay,
this this is a good one to open the show with.
And he is he's a performer, he's an athlete, he's
he's just he transformed throughout this journey into a dance.

He's a dancer. There's no denying it. This man is
a dancer.

I mean, if Dylan Efron went on to dance and
be on Broadway, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm just saying, this man, this man, he is a
Dylan of all trades. He can do anything. I'm convinced
to this point.

Nay is usually when there's a guy who's like that hot,

Something I thought was funny was you know, Flavor, flav
immediately breaking any confidence I had in his judging right
off the bat. He was having like an issue with

there's like an iPad or there's some kind of device
where they submit, like they lock in their their scores.

We have and I couldn't tell you what it was
because I can't remember.

You can hear carry Anne like like, oh no, you
have to lock it in, you have to look. And
then like they panned her and like she's like standing
over him like helping him whatever that procedure is. And
I was like, oh man, this is We're gonna be
off to a rough start. And then and then he
gave him a ten and I'm like, okay, here we go,
here we go. Carry and getting booed also for her
for her judgment the People's enemy Carrie Hannanava.

I know, which she is so wonderful and likable and
who knew that she would become like the villain of
Dancing with the Stars this season.

They're just like, but you know.

What she has to what is she supposed to give something?
She has to give critiques, Yes, and there's good, there's bad.
Not everything can be great, but yeah.

It's so interesting because I like, Cheryl Burke got a
lot of heat last week for doing the same thing,
like not just like lavishing praise on everybody and giving
critiques which I thought were all helpful, and everyone was like,
oh man, Cheryl Brook's going way too hard. On everybody,
and I'm like, this is a competition, okay, right, yeah.

Okay, yeah yeah. Flavor Flav gave the ten and I
was like, oh, okay, this is I rege.

We're in trouble here. This is going to throw the
whole night off. And in my in the end it did.
But okay, so first ten, that's that's the first ten

And Dylan was visibly very excited about that ten. He
wanted that ten, yeah, and he got it from from

So as I can recall from my unfortunate short stint
on the show, Uh, you you're kind of you're given ones,
like I know Pasha would say, like, here's we're gonna
do your what your strongest stat first before we get

to the ones that I don't think are your strength
so you can put in what you want. I am
surprised they allowed three couples to do it, because I
would have thought they would have spread it out.

Maybe we get they're running out. I don't know.

Yeah, I knew it was going to be I mean,
this is this just adds for interesting competition here to
see that.

Oh yeah, and pasa dobla is like a strong, yes,
very aggressive dance.

I am learning this from watching the show that it's
a yes. She in the rehearsal, Alex is like so
locked in and they talked like last week. She was
telling Val like, I want you to push me. I
can take it. Let's go harder and it paid off.
They did really great dance last week and that she's
keeping that momentum going. She is so locked in. Uh,

this dance was great. She had this like long flowing
dress kind of thing, and so every time she did
like a big twirl or like some kind of aerial move,
it would like flow like a like a ribbon or something.

It was really fun to watch.

It was, in my opinion, and I'm a huge fan
of her performance in her dancing. I didn't feel it
was her strongest And maybe it's because it's a passive
doblay and I know how really aggressive they want the
females to be in that yeah, and I think that

was lacking a little bit in what I saw on her.
Maybe it is her face or I'm not sure, but everyone,
but who am I to say anything?

She got look look at the score she got.

I mean, you know what's crazy is it would have
been it would have been straight tens except for flavor.

That made me kind of mads. I was like, we
haven't a straight tens this season. It would have been fun.

this is going to be a rough show for him.

his mind like, oh, everyone's like, oh, he gave a
ten right out of the gates, so this time, I'm
just gonna pull back a little bit.

But I think he saw the react because when he
gave the ten to Dylan and Danielle, like the place
went crazy. And I think, like, like in a slightly

They continue to be. You know, we're all I'm doing

think there's a dark horse in this competition and we'll

got very emotional watching it, very emotional.

I teared up. Andy talking about like.

The birth that made me like cry was I'm talking
about how like everyone was having a birthday party for him.
Last week was his birthday and everyone there's like people
on social media like having birthday cake and stuff, and
he's like all these people I don't know having a
birthday party for me, and that made me really emotional.

I don't know.

I'm enjoyed, like I know a lot of people aren't
enjoying how far he's made it. I love it. I
am down with it. I think it's really exciting. Yeah,
toy Spelling doth not agree.

Andy rich you're welcome slightly because I think I was
the version of you last year, except a little bit better.
And I think people were so pissed that, like the
joyous person excited to be there, not a dancer, never
done anything like that got voted off first, that they

were like, Okay, who is that this year? Oh it's
Andy Richter. Okay, we got to keep him. Yeah, but
it's gone take me out of it, it's gone far
beyond it's okay, let's talk technicality.

I agree with you, and this week it was emotional,
the package, you love, the song choice. I'm now I'm
starting to not just look at the faces and their personality.
I'm starting to look at the feet and I'm like,
it's just not adding up for me, the arms, the feet,

It's starting to not make sense to me, to be honest,
And I love him, and I love though that from
Dancing with the Stars, Andy Richter has reinvented himself. Like,
when this is all said and done, Andy Richter is

loved by people that maybe didn't even know who he
was before, and he is so special to everybody. And
that makes me happy because He's a good person. He's
a talented person, and I look forward beyond Dancing with
the Stars what he will do now career wise, because
I think he can do anything he wants.

Something I keep thinking about is, like, you know, we
talk the way they judge it a constant topic of
discussion all over this great these great United States. Uh,
and you can't. They're not comparing the dancers to each other.
They're just they're just saying, how was this dance good?

On its own? As much as I can do that.

Yeah, And there have been dances from Andy in the past,
many where I would have been where I say, no,
this is not good.

He is not good.

However, I'm also wondering is a part of judging this
show because the premise is that these people are not dancing.
I know a lot of people in this crew have
dance experience. These people are not dancers. How are they
taking on this challenge? And especially last night, I think
that he has shown incredible improvement, and I last night specifically,

I think that he I was I think he deserved
the scores he got. I know he's not the best dancer.
I think he has improved significantly from even the last
two weeks. I'm really impressed with that, and because part
of me thinks, like he knows he's got this like
kind of viral fans support. It's it's a kin to

the Bobby Bones season, which you know, and it was
a difficult spot for a lot of hardcore fans.

But he at least I hope.

What I when I think he's doing is I can't
get this far on just people wanting this like silly
Teddy Bear to win. Like it's not gonna be a
make a wish thing like it has to be. There
has to be some kind of skill and effort put
into this, and I'm seeing that I don't, you know,
I don't. If he makes it past next week, I

think we're gonna have a real problem on her hands.

But for sure, he's working his butt off and and
I love their relationship. Emma Slater is one of the
coolest people ever. She's such a champion of everybody that
it really warms my heart to know that this season
she is getting to go this far and show off

her talent as a pro. And yes, okay, so their scores, fine, yeah,
they deserve a seven seven's flavor flavor whatever okay, but
seven's accurate, Okay.

I also really enjoy it just makes me laugh when
Alfonso is like prompting the judges to speak and we

Okay, so we're going from the someone who's consistently at
the bottom of the leaderboard to someone at the top.
Whitney Levitt and Mark Ballas this competition is heating up.

name any others, but yeah, it was exciting to see
their their costumes are great. Their outfits are so cool,
very edgy and fun.

They're so it's just like just leagues above. They they're
just on such a different level. It's it's like, you know,
I don't want to say it's not fair, but it
kind of isn't.

watched it through the first time, and then hearing Carrie
Anne's comments, I went back and watched it and did
see what she saw that the footwork, which is not
typical for Whitney. I feel like, yes, and I can
see it even from when she first came out, almost

was like a misplaced the stumble.

troop as I've been calling it the Talent show, doing
a tribute to the Dodgers winning the world series, Go Dodgers,

when we did our posts, she would just be like, okay,
four three two, it was like our final pose up
in the thing, like yeah, so definitely Whitney was counting.

It was so fun to see that. Unfortunately not the

Like I really liked watching them all like interact and

don't get to see them like actually working together.

And Uh, I enjoyed watching this part of the rehearsal package,
like seeing them all kind of yeah, practicing together.

That was really fun. The dance was fine. It wasn't bad,
it was just it was fine.

It was so who choreographs. It all the pros or
they pick one pro I missed.

it was okay. I got their costumes hurt it a

Chicago, like the costumes, the dance, it was just like
m it just killed it. Yeah, that it was a

thirty eight out of forty. Yeah, but man, it's hard
to deny a perfect score.

So they take those scores and apply it to everybody
everyone else's and I'm trying to I was having a
hard time following Alfonso. He could explain this a couple
times throughout the show, but it was is it the
highest scoring couple of the night was going to get
immunity from the team dance relay next.

They survive, I was like, oh man, I had to
get my chalkboard out. I was having a hard time
following that. But it means something good for next week.

But I feel like in previous seasons the critiques and
the praise are very a little more concise, and I
just feel the energy of Alfonso and Julianne having to
be like good through it fast.

Whitney and Alex were tied for the highest score, and
but the tie was broken I believe by the team dance.
And then it went to Whitney Love It. So she
gets immunity for the team dance relay for the relay

love Whitney. But there's a lot of people that don't
like her. And while unlikely, there is a version of
this where she gets like no votes from the from
the audience and she gets eliminated, you know, like that
might happen, I know, extremely unlikely, but still a possibility
and a very very funny outcome if you ask me.
But but also not what's going to happen here? Whitney

love it and Mark Paust the second week in a
row in the bottom three. Uh you know, we say
bottom three of quotes also Andy Richter and Emma Slater
and Daniel Fischal and Pasha Pashkav.

Yes, those two makes sense.

Yeah, yeah, And we were at that point in the
program where the floating in the middle are going to
start to go home, and consistently they've said, you know,
while Danielle has made such progress, she and Pasha have
kind of stayed in the middle zone throughout them.

Yeah, and when you're consistently in the middle, eventually that
middle becomes the bottom because everyone else at the bottom.

It's very sad to save. That's just how numbers work.

So then we we we find out that Whitney and
Mark are saved, Andy and Emma are saved.

I was sad to see this same but you know,
I knew it was gonna it was going to come

such the talent on this season is so in the stratosphere,
just so out there. It's crazy. It's going to be

Each week Andy just goes home when he's like what
is happening?

Still standing, like still dancing what he couldn't have ever
fathomed that he would. It's going into week nine, this
is like unheard of for someone of his caliber.

let's look, I mean, who's gonna go.

It's crazy it has to be him.

if it's not, we're not voting for an elected official
or anything like that. So it is exciting to see

Yeah, I don't think we're far off from having a
politician beyond Dancing with the Stars and then they get
public office at the end of the the show. I
think that's something that's gonna happen to us. But I
can't wait to see what happens. Next week is the
twentieth birthday for Dancing with the Stars.
