On this episode of Levels to This, Sheryl Swoopes and Terrika Foster-Brasby are in full celebration mode as they reflect on Sheryl’s recent induction into Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Fresh off Essence Fest, the duo shares highlights from the weekend and what it meant for Sheryl to officially join the sisterhood. Then, it’s all eyes on the WNBA All-Star game. They go deep on standout performances so far this season, break down the evolution of talent across the league, and hold their own mock draft of All-Star squads. Sheryl and Tee keep it honest about the players who didn’t make the cut—and what those omissions say about the growth of the game.

extra today.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Should because because I can, yes bring all of that energy.
Welcome into the levels to this podcast where we talk
about and share all about the ship that women go through.
And let me tell you, we have got such a

(00:47):
great show lined up today. We are gonna talk so
WNBA All Star, everything about All Star because of course
you know I'm gonna be there, my girls shrow gonna
be there because duh, it's yeah, uh so we got
to talk about All Star. Du But first before we

(01:09):
get into All Star. Gosh, I don't know if I
have ever been so excited to make where to be at.
So this weekend was essence festy and both myself and a.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Time was time was had.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
So yeah, Scherla and I were in New Orleans for Essence.
There was so much going on, but there was this
one particular thing, yeah, that was happening this weekend that
I could not miss. And so our producer has no

(01:51):
idea what this is because I told her I wasn't
gonna tell her. I was going to announce it on
the show. But I am I'm so happy to say
that the.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Charles Swoops is now a member of the greatest sorority
in the world. Yeah, Sigma Gamma Ro Sorority in Corporated.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
I am so happy, y'all. And sure the amount of
love that you have received over the last two days,
like welcome to the sisterho this.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Listen, you said it all, you said it all. But
I have not even responded to any posts messages because
there are so many. Let me just verbally say, because
I am going to post something because I need to,

(03:03):
but it's gotta it's gotta be the right post soul
of what I want to say, right to the entire
Sisterhood and of course to you in particular for just
being so damn resilient.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Come on, come on, come, But verbally, vocally, let me.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Just say to all of the Sisterhood and just all
the members of the Divine Nine who like just reached
out and the love that I felt through these posts
and people going in the archives finding old ryl swoops, comments, pictures,

(03:47):
and a couple even posted me back in the day
at Texas Tech Like yep, I honestly again haven't posted
because I'm so overwhelmed with joy and with with love
and sis let me rephrase this sorrow, okay now, Like,

(04:07):
I'm just so elated. I'm so extatic. I am happy.
First of all, I was an essence right so an
incredible place to be. But everything that we did this
weekend and getting inducted with my line sisters, I'm just
so elated to be a member of Sigma Gamma Row

(04:31):
sorority and corpor rate.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Period.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yes, I'm just very excited for you. Everybody is very excited.
It is an incredible sisterhood. And I mean to anybody
out here that's a part of a sorority or fraternity,
I don't have to tell y'all about how excited it
is to be a new member when you come in
and you're fresh. But I really wish y'all could have
seen your old face when she's on a gift table job,

(04:57):
full blown neo, when she sees that gift table now
on a bag.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Oh my god, Oh my god, she saw that.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Gift table and I said yes, And so you know me,
I'm sitting there looking like, what can I steal? But
I ain't gonna steal.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
On that that says let me tell you, because you
you had left already. So on Sunday, yes, we actually
got some rain, like not not a lot, but it
rained enough for me to pull out my umbrella that I.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Was gifted from my sisters.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
See what I'm saying, Yes, and walked with it proudly.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
And I was just walking down the street headed to
the convention center, and all I heard was they was ready.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
They was ready.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
No, I gave it right back.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
As you're supposed to, as you're supposed to. A yip
does not go unreturned. So I love that so much.
So we're excited. There is going to be a lot
of work to do. Y'all are going to see Sheryl
represented any everywhere because that's how she do, that's how
she rolled. And if I haven't said it already, even
though I said it a million times, I'm super proud

(06:06):
of you. I am so happy for you, and I
really cannot wait to share this sisterhood experience with you forever.
You are stuck with me forever.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Right back at.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Moving into something that is just as important. It's the
sisterhood of being an All Star. And Cheryl, you have
been a part of our sisterhood many times of being
an All Star, and we need to take a moment
to really break down what All Star twenty twenty five
is gonna look like. We know that Caitlyn Clark and
if he's a Collier are going to be our captains.

(06:41):
The reserves have been announced, the starters have been announced,
and even though we're recording this podcast on Monday, on Tuesday,
July eight, by the time you all listen to this,
the teams will have been chosen. So let's go ahead
and get into this All Star conversation and take it
to the next level. Let me ask you this the

(07:05):
first time that you are selected to be an All Star, Like,
what is that feeling like when you finally get that, like,
stop playing I'm All Star?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
What's that like?

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Well?

Speaker 1 (07:16):
I don't think I ever was like I'm an All Star?
Stop that, because I was like, damn right, I'm an
All Star.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Ah exactly, Like I don't mean.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
That in a bad way. There are some players that
just know you're going to be an All Star, right,
And here's the difference. So when I played, I don't
believe we had the player vote part, and we also
didn't have captains where we drafted, right, it was a

(07:46):
fan vote and that was that. But here's what I'll
tell you. I totally appreciated every time I was voted
in as an All Star. And honestly, it really wasn't
about if I was going to be a starter or not.
But the reason why I appreciated it because it was
all about the fans, right, the fans appreciating your your

(08:11):
body of work, appreciating what you have done throughout the
season up until that point. But to have an opportunity
to play with some of the best in the league
when you're going up against them night in and night out,
that was a fun thing for me. And yeah, you

(08:33):
also had to know the first quarter or so and Tea,
I don't remember if we played quarters a half child,
it was so long ago. But in the beginning it
was all about fun, right, like, let's just have fun.
But as the game got close and down to the wire,
it was all about all right, we're really trying to

(08:53):
go in this thing exactly period, because there is there
is absolutely pride on the line. But it's always a
lot of fun to be able to take a break
from the regular season and play in the All Star
Game in front of the fans, play with teammates, with
your own teammates, but also play against your competitors that

(09:14):
you go up against every single night.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I love two things that you brought attention to, because
one thing that I don't think has lacked in the
women's game is the competitiveness.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
In the All Star Game.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Like these women out here, they it's cool, we're cute,
we're happy to be here. We got you at Media Day.
But at the end of the day, it's ninety four
feet and we're finna play all ninety four of them, right,
And so I love that they still have that fire
to play competitiveness. I don't know why the men have
let that go.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
I was about to say the men could learn a
thing or two.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
They couldn't learn a thing or two. Oh my god.
So I love that. But the other thing that I
always find amazing about the All Star Game, and yes,
I remember when it was just based off the fan vote,
but I will say I do like the idea of
teammates playing against each other, Like you you get to
finally you've been wanting to follow her for real for

(10:07):
the last however many years y'all been playing together. You know, practice,
practice is practice. I mean, yeah, you doing something, but
like in this particular moment, you finally get to talk
your ship to your teammates. And that is my favorite
favorite part. I remember just last season, I was talking
junk about AT and do Wanna because it was the

(10:29):
Olympians versus the All Stars, And I asked at. I said, at,
now you got to go up against Wanna, not only
your teammates, but like that's your fiance. She like, yeah,
she didn't already gave me rules like if I hit her,
I gotta pack up.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
I can't. She was like, because at the end of
the day, you've got to go home with me.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
You've got to go home with me. Keep it killed,
keep it kill.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Not too much, okay, I love it. It was It's
the best. It's the best thing in the world. But
so this year for our All Stars, I think it's
so cool that you got first year All Stars and
rookies like Page Beckers, who's starting, but also Kiki Aria
Finn and Sonya Satron are named as reserves, and also

(11:15):
as a first year All Star is Kayla Thornton. I'm
so happy for Kayla, and this is one of the
reasons that I get so excited about expansion, because you
got players that you know they were good, like, you
know they could ball, but because they have to play
on the team with so many other stars, they kind
of get pushed to the reserve role. Kayla has really
went out there in Golden State and has been like,

(11:37):
I don't think y'all know I can ball, but I can.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Ball backs facts, and she has put everybody all notice
and you know, te sometimes it's just about being in
the right environment.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
And to me, the thing she's doing with the Valkyries,
she was very capable of doing with the Liberty.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
She just didn't have the minutes and the opportunity to
play like she's playing with the Valkyries. I am so
happy for her and just enjoy watching her play because
she is gonna play hard every possession.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Yeah, every single one. I absolutely love this for Kayla,
so deserve me and another first year All Star that
I want to call out is Gabby Williams. Gabby wasn't
even in the league.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Go how about that? How about that Gabby.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Was playing overseas and was like, don't worry, I'm gonna
come back, and when I come back, I'm gonna come
back and remind y'all of who I am. And it
has done just that. So I'm so excited that the
fans for those who don't know, the fans get fifty
percent of the vote, media gets twenty five percent, and
the players get the other twenty five percent.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
So I'm just.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Glad that she was acknowledged and given an opportunity to
be an All Star. But then, of course we have
some returning players. Mekka agoomakay, this is her temp time
being an All Star, syst you let's go.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Plan that's it looks like she is like in her
prime right now for real.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
But yes, Neka is definitely reminding them. She like, y'all
got me messed up. I am not just Madam President,
I'm about to I'm a baller. So I love that.
So our starters are Page Beckers, Katelyn Clark obviously, Kaitlyn
Clark being her second time as an All Star, and
she received the most amount of votes, so she will
be a captain. Sabrina u net School, fourth time All Star,

(13:28):
Ali Shah Gray Yes, says you need to. I'm telling
you I'm gonna keep putting her in an MVP conversation
because she deserves to be. Nafisa Collier, she is a
fifth time All Star. She also is going to be
serving as captain this year. Of course, there's the Queen,
Asia Wilson. Seven years in the league, seven time All Star,
come on out, seven years in the league, seventh time

(13:50):
All Star, baby girl. They missed the All Star Game
since she came here yet yet quit playing with her,
quit playing with her? Okay, all right, Brianna Stewart absolutely,
Alijah Boston. And then of course, as I mentioned, Neka
inside too, and for our reserves, there's Sonya Statrons, Skyler Diggins, Yes,

(14:10):
Skyler Ryan Howard three years in the league, three time
All Star, kiky Iria Finn for the first time, Kelsey
Mitchell quick planned on her name. She is a three
time All Star, Kelsey Plumb, Angel Reese going back to
back her second time being elected as an All Star.
Alyssa Thomas six time All Star. We talked about Kayla Thornton,

(14:32):
Courtney Williams is making her second appearance as an All Star,
Gabby Williams, and to round it out is Jackie Young.
So as we look over this list, is there anyone
that surprises you, Cheryl.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
Ooh, it's a good question. If I'm being one hundred
percent honest, what you know?

Speaker 2 (14:49):
I am.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
I think Sonya and Kekey are deserving because they've played
very well. But I'm probably surprised that bo both of
them as rookies are playing in the All Star Game.
But the one that I'm like, I don't. I don't
think Jackie Young's been very consistent this season. Like, I

(15:15):
don't know if she's played up to her All Star abilities.
So if I can name a player, and I'm not
saying take Jackie off, but I don't, I just don't. Don't.
I don't think Jackie Young has had a Jackie Young
type season, Okay, But I will say I do think.
I do think that Britney Sykes has had an All

(15:37):
Star type of a season.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
I mean, she's averaging.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Seventeen eighteen points a game.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
She's eleventh in scoring.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Listen, if we're talking about snubs, that that's.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
One for me.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, definitely a question what about you as far as
the prizes in the All Star Game goes. I will
also say that I am a bit surprised and now
I love me some Courtney Williams. You love me some
Courtney Williams. I was surprised though, that it was Courtney

(16:15):
versus Calea McBride, So that surprised me. But that's not
to say that I don't think Courtney should be an
All Star. Yeah, just that I was surprised of it
being more than one Minnesota Lynx player. I thought that
it would have been maybe Kaylea McBride versus Courtney. So
very surprised to see her, but definitely, you know, kudos
to her forgetting her second nod. As it relates to snubs,

(16:38):
A snub for me outside of Brittany is Brianna Jones.
No Bree Jones like I was like. Bree Jones started
off this season on a tear and she was so impressive.
Given that I was one who was very interested in
how they were gonna work alongside each other, with Brittany Griner,

(16:58):
with the way that they are have start to structure
their team, wanting to be a more fast paced you know,
high volume shooting type team. I was like, how are
they going? How they going to figure that out? But
I was very surprised that Bree Jones did not make
the All Star team.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Well, and she made it last year, didn't she? Yep,
and she's having a better season this year.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
I come across this all the time when I have
this conversation about what do we need to do to
really figure out what we want the All Star Game
to be?

Speaker 1 (17:26):
Right?

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Do we want this game to be just as you
mentioned when we started this conversation, which is a game
for the fans. I bring this up because we put
a lot of stock in things like how many All
Star appearances someone has, And I know that sometimes people
even like to you know, people even use that as
a way to kind of structure contracts and things like

(17:48):
that to talk about your value how many All Star
appearances you have. If we're going to put those type
of parameters around what it means to be an All Star,
then we need to really decide on who should be
voting for All Stars and who shouldn't agree.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
I've this as.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
It's for the fans, it should be fans driven. Then
if that's the case, then let the fans do it
all and like, let's leave us out of it. Just
leave us out of it. That way it can strictly
be who the fans want to see, who the fans like,
because if with it being a mixed vote like this,
it feels like we're confusing what we want this to be.

(18:24):
Either it's gonna be based off because fans don't care
about what we care about. Fans only care about what
they should care about, which is their favorite team and
their favorite and that's it and that's all that they
should care about. Because I'm old enough to remember Carmelo
Anthony being elected to the All Star Game like three times,
and I'm like, this man ain't suited up all damn season.

(18:44):
How is he still being elected to the All Star Game?
Because fans love Mellow and they were going to vote
for their favorite and that's.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
What it is.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
So I feel like we really need to figure out
what we want this game to be because if it's
going to be truly based off season performance is then
we probably need to reconsider how much weight we give
on the fan vote. But if that's not going to
be the case, then we need to really consider how
much weight we're giving what it means to be selected
as an All Star. Like, that's just where I stand

(19:13):
on it.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
You know, I agree with you one hundred percent. The
fans are going to vote for their favorite, whoever their
favorite is. She can be having the worst season, she
cannot play very many games. I'm young enough to remember,
like players like Diana Tarassi who missed almost the first

(19:36):
half of a season and fans voted are in to
play in the All Star Game, right, And of course
we all know if Diana Tarassi's playing, she's going to
be an All Star. But how do you vote someone
in to play in the All Star Game when they're
not playing? And to me, that's when you know that
for a lot of the fans, it's just about their favorite,

(19:59):
and this who I really like, and so this is
what I'm going to vote for, versus when you throw
in the media. And granted, even for some media it's
about their favorite. Let's just keep it real. Keep the
media it's about their favorite. But when you throw in
you know, the media and the players, the players aren't
voting on off of popularity. The players aren't voting off

(20:21):
of Ooh, I really like her, she's my friend. I'm
going to vote for her. The players are voting on
because they're the ones that's playing against you every single night. Right,
players are voting on what do you do when you're
on the court. But I also think players take into
consideration games that you've played, games you've missed, and they
also look at what you do on the offensive end,

(20:43):
what you're doing on the defensive end. How are you
impacting the game? So I totally agree with you. I
don't think the voting can stay like this if we're
trying to give players that, in my opinion, really truly
deserve the honor of being an All Star. Yep, the
voting can't stay like this.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Yep. I completely agree because.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I'm gonna throw another one in there. I think Tash
Cloud's having a good season, Like I just knew Tash
was gonna be an All Start, And I'm kind of
shocked that Deerica Hanby isn't an All Star.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Oh God, I'm so glad you brought up Deerica Hanby
because it reminds me of her teammate as a Ray
Stevens as well too. I think this has been a
break year. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Yeah, I mean you.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
Talk about m P She's definitely somebody who I would
put in that conversation as of next forp But also
when we think about even those who are All Stars,
I thought Alyssa Thomas should have been a starter. Yes,
how is she not? How are you leading the league
in assists? How are you? How are you? You are you?
And every year we have to fight for people to

(21:48):
respect the type of player that at is And I
just don't get it like that woman is an All Star.
So yeah, there's a there's a lot to dissect there,
but certainly something that we want to, you know, keep
the con station going about. I also think it's interesting
but also shows how our league is continuing to grow
because there are some names that we continually see as
All Stars, and this year we don't see those names.

(22:11):
Britney Griner is something that comes to mind. VG is
always an All Star all year, not an All Star.
Irique and Goombooles, somebody else who has practically been an
All Star her entire career this year not an All Stars.
So I mean, how much does it speak to how
these players are just truly evolving and coming in different

(22:35):
that we're kind of seeing some of our traditional names
for names that we don't see as often.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
I totally agree with you when when you start talking
about All Stars, there are some players that you just
know their names are going to be there. Like what
I said before, right when I played, I knew that
these hit ten players are for sure going to be
an All Star and saying that, though I love seeing
new place players get voted in to be All Stars.

(23:03):
But to answer your question, I think what this shows
is just how much talent is in this league and
like players are balling right now. You know you brought
up Arique, Like Arique is one of the to me,
she's one of the better scores in the league and.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
She's just not having that type of a season.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
But there are other players who are, like Paige Becker's
ain't playing like a.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Rookie at all.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Either side of the no, no, she's not playing like
a rookie. So I'm surprised at some of these names
that didn't make it, and we already talked about them.
But I love what this shows and what this says
about the talent level and how they come to play
every single night, and it just excites me even more

(24:03):
for expansion. When I think about the up and coming
talent that we're going to have in the.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
Next few years. Yes, yes, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
The only thing I ask is that the women starters
are not that they continue to play hard in the
All Star Game and compete. No, we don't want to
see anybody get hurt, knock on wood. But how I
want to see a good game.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Right, and it always is. Now, when we come back,
Suyl and I are going to have a little fun
and we are going to draft our WNBA all thirteens.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Go.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
If you don't want to miss it, stay with us, Okay,
So we are going to have a little bit of
fun and we are going to pretend like we have
the distinct honor of being captains of the twenty twenty

(25:00):
five WBA All Star teams. And so because she's the goat,
we're going to say that she got the highest amount
of vote. Yalla, Syl is going to be team Captain Clark.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
I am Captain CC, I will be I have been
Captain b B, I'm Captain Fie, Captain six C, and
Captain Feefee and Captain Feefee.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Right, So we are gonna go ahead and Captain CC
is the one who got the most votes she's gonna
pick first. So who are you taking first in the drafts?

Speaker 1 (25:39):
All right, if I'm Caitlin, my first pick, you know
her and her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, they play very well together,
right they do. But if I'm Caitlin, my first pick
is going to be the one and only Queen herself Asules.

Speaker 2 (25:59):
Okay, okay, that's cool. So you went Asia with your
first pick, which kind of pisses me off because I
was going to Asia. So I am going to go
Page Beckers with my first pick.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
You need a pet, so I'm going to back PG.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
All right.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Well, I passed on one of her teammates, but I
ain't passing on the other one. I'm going with Aliah
b Auston.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Say, okay, now, I don't even like this front court already.
It's to South Carolina.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
But mind you, I don't know if Caitlin is gonna
walk to South Carol.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
But if you were Kaitlyn, yeah, you're taking Asia and Aliah. Okay. Yeah,
So I picked Page first, and I am going to
take Stewie with my third pick because I need somebody
that's going to battle Asia, who I know has battled
Asia and since John quile make it. This is what

(27:03):
I got, So I'm going Stewie.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
So you going with a Yukon squad?

Speaker 4 (27:07):
You are you starting to pete the day because this
is what me would do.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I know Fee is gonna go all Huskies.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Okay, okay, Well, it is an all star game, and
we know that Caitlyn absolutely is going to want to
get out and run because she sees the floor exceptionally well,
and it's gonna make some Hella passes.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Give me Kelsey Mitchell, okay, in okay, I feel like
she would take her teammate too. I feel like she
would take her teammate too. Oh wait, before you pick Kelsey, though,
we gotta pick the starters because they gotta start, so
you gotta pick the starters first. Okay.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
If I can't go with Kelsey right now, as my shooter,
give me Sab as my shooter got it.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Okay, I'm glad you went Sab because I'm absolutely grabbing
Alisha Gray. Okay, gotten to give me, got to give me,
give me, give me all of that stuff.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
It.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Well, you got way too much South Carolina over there.
I got to break that up.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
I like that. I love me some Mekka but Satu
is playing her ass off right now and can play
a few different positions, and I would like to see
Satu sobily on my squad. So give me Sattu, give
me the unicorn.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Okay, well, if you got Satu, then I got to
dang last, but not Lea. I want you to know,
if you're listening to this Mekka, that you not like
the last person people.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
It wasn't like that.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
It wasn't like that.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
It wasn't like that, Mecca, because you know I like
that about you, like that.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
It won't like that. So all right, now we go
on to our reserves to fill out the rest of
our team. To start on Team c c aka Cheryl.
There's Caitlin, Asia, Aliyah, Sabrina in Satu and started on
Team Fee aka Team two. There's fee Page, Stewie, Alisha,

(29:03):
and Necka. I don't know my school. I kind of
lick now.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
I was about to say we first quarter, we're probably
gonna be up thirty to about fifteen.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
All right, all right, all right, so we back on
the reserves. We back on the reserves. Okay, Hey, Kelsey Mitchell,
go ahead and say Kelsey, yeah, yeah, I'm gonna grab
at Come on over here, Alyssa.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Yeah, I feel you on that one. I feel you
on that one.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
I do need another guard.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Okay, here's what I'm gonna do, and I'm gonna explain
to you why I am CC I'm the captain. I
don't know if I'm going to play in the All
Star Game.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
That's the house.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
I haven't played right in a while. Yeah, so I
need a point guard that's going to distribute, have fun.
Know what the All Star Games are about. Yeah, give
me Skyler Diggings.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Okay, I kind of felt like you were going there,
but I need another ball handler as well. And I
feel like this person just she's such a ball of
energy and if i'm fee, it makes the most sense
for me to grant my girl.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Saved her for you, sad So Courtney, come on over here, girl.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
I don't even need a long time. I don't even
need none of that. Gim me Gabby Williams.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
Okay, Okay, I'm gonna need another Let me get another
big down here, let me get let me be real passed.
Come Angel, Come on Angel, because honestly, it would be
the funniest and best thing in the world. If Caitlyn
actually picked Angel, that.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Really was going to be my next pick. And I
was gonna say, you know what, just for all of
the noise, all of the everything out there, let me
go get Angel and see what y'all gonna say, Now
what you gonna say? Okay, with that being said, I
just really enjoy these rookies. Yes, I am going to

(31:16):
have to go with Kiki.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
That's a really good pick. I'm gonna scoop up a guard.
I think I'm gonna get Kelsey Plumb.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
I knew you were going to.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
I like that you got a Kelsey.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
I gotta Kelsey. Well, she's having an incredible season. I
love how hard she plays, plays both ends of the floor,
can play inside outside, Come on, KT, Kyle Thornton se KT.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
I'm so happy for her. I can't wait to see
KT until her. I'm so happy for her. Yes, KT, Okay, okay, okay,
If you going KT, then let me see who we go.
Oh we got nothing but ball handlers left at this point. Huh,
So I'm gonna go ahead. Have you taken a rook
I'm gonna take a rookie. So get Oh why is

(32:03):
Ryan still sitting there? Ryan?

Speaker 4 (32:05):
Come here girl, I was hoping you.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
Ryan, still sitting there, let me tripping. Don't come for me, Ryan,
I can't believe it took me that long. I'm so disrespectful.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Sorry, we both were, Ryan, I need to put my
glasses on. You know what I'm I'm gonna roll with
two rookies in an All Star because I love Sonya,
said Tron, So come on Sonya.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
All right? Cool? You knew I was gonna pick Sonya too,
but I couldn't be disrespectful Ryan.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Okay, I know that's all right.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Well last, but certainly not least, because when we talk
about teammates who need to play against each other and
finally be able to get a link back, that's what's
about to happen. So Jackie, come on.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
On with Jackie. Okay, wait, what lickus she get back? Oh?

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Asia, Okay, Now, I don't know how feasible it's really
gonna be, because he ain't picking Notre Dame Irish. But
it's alright though on my list.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Well, that's why I said, I don't know if Caitlin's
really picking two game cocks either. She ain't picking okay,
my first two picture game cocks. She ain't picking no
game Cock is her teammate, though, way no, Aliah Boston's
her teammate.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Alijah Boston may be the only one who can get
away with it. Yeah, and she ain't got no choice
in that.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
All I know is I like my squad.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
So Team CC is Asia, Aliah, Sabrina Satu, Kelsey Skuyler, Gabby, Kiki,
Kat and Sonya, and Team C is Paige Stewie, Alisha, Nekka, Alyssa,
Courtney Angel, Kelsey Plumb, Ryan Howard and Jackie Young.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I think my squad we're about to beat the breaks
off of y'all.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
My squad finna win by forty.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
We're about to beat the breaks off y'all.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
If we're being honest, my squad is real defensive heavy
between fee page At, ain't Stewie, Ain't nothing happening down,
Ain't nothing, Ain't nobody doing because we're about to get
some buckets out, Jackie nothing on my squad. Okay, Yeah,
I got c C.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
Who can shoot. Sabrina is a shooter, Asia is her everything,
and Alijah Boston is just bostoning saw too. The unicorn listen.
I got she got no, I got size, I got,
I got players that can play multiple positions.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
I got so much versatility on my squad. I got
some of the best two way players you can think of.
I can just leave an At out there. She could
play any position I give her. And you already know
what Angel's gonna do. Ain't nobody going me bounds rebounds,
three bounds, grab it. She grabbed it everything. You just

(34:51):
gonna just post her. It's about to be crazybody to
do it? Be about to listen on Hosey has everybody everybody, no, no.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
No, come on Asia, Come on Asia. And then and
then when I subbed my my rookies, Kiki, y'all ain't
ready for what the rookie is about to do. You
ain't ready. And Katy, who's probably felt disrespected that she
ain't betting an off star game about that, she gonna
be the m v P. All I know is whenever
I need somebody to come out and talk ship, I'm
gonna sit down Kelsey, Plump, Kelsey go over there and

(35:24):
go get her cause and all. If Kelsey don't sit
down somewhere, this is going to be tons of fun.
You got your ship talker and Kelsey and I got
my ship talker in Skyler, You sure, because Skyler're gonna
talk some.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Ship every single one and both of them gonna put
both of them gonna post you up and shoot on
you in your face.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
It's real.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
They real disrespectful. That's why I love it. It's really
why I love it, because they real disrespectful.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Quick question for you before we before we move on.
Were you because when we talked about not snubs, but
players we were surprised of about who didn't make it,
were you surprised? And I don't mean by voting, because
I don't feel like they've had All Star type seasons
yet so far this season. Were you surprised that there's

(36:12):
no Chelsea Gray or Joel Lloyd? I am not.

Speaker 2 (36:15):
I just think you nailed it, right, Like not having
an All Star season doesn't necessarily mean you're having a
bad season, right. And Chelsea Gray just this past week
and so it was the best thing in the world.
She was playing Connecticut and in that game, she passed
Becky Hammond's for six on the all time WNBA assists
leader board. And at the end of the game, when

(36:38):
we were having a conversation and our interviewer, I was
congratulating her and she looked shocked. She had no clue
that she had passed Becky that for that record on
the leaderboard, and so things like that just further the
notion that like Chelsea is one of the best to
ever do it, like one of the best passers this
game is scene, and I think she's just it's an adjustment.

(37:01):
Vegas is going through an adjustment, and somebody on that team,
whether it be one person, two people, or many, somebody
was gonna be affected. And I think that Jewel hasn't
always been able to kind of find her fit just yet.
Even though she had eight straight games of double digit scoring,
it wasn't like it was like eight straight games like

(37:23):
twenty thirty. She had, you know, some games she had ten,
some games she had twenty one. So it's just I
just think that Vegas is probably the one team that
has been affected the most by offseason changes and they
haven't quite figured it out yet. And that is why
Jewel and Chelsea again some of the names. We usually
always hear Jewel in the All Star Game, right, So

(37:44):
I genuinely just think that that's what it's attributed to.
But I don't think they're having bad seasons, just not
typical All Star number of type seasons. All right, guys,
when we come back, we're gonna go ahead and level
this thing out and maybe Sure will tell you what
her team is gonna lose. Okay, guys, it has been

(38:07):
a fun show as always. We enjoy just kind of
chopping it up and just you know, shooting shit about
what we love most. And we all know the All
Star is gonna be a time it always is, and
of course your levels to this podcast crew is going
to be in attendance. So when we have finalized exactly

(38:27):
where we're gonna be, where we're gonna be recording, and
what's going on, we are gonna be sure to let
y'all know so that y'all can come and check us
out and show us some love, because we always have
such a great time when we're doing live shows and
live podcasts, and we really appreciate all of the fans
who come out continually to support us and show us
love at these events.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Y'all says, come Halla, Come.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Halla, Come say what's up. So I'm looking forward to
getting there. I get there on Thursday, the day a
couple of days before. I'm gonna you know, you know
what I'm gonna be doing I'm gonna, you know, be
working for CB. Yes, but also I'm gonna find me
a party or three or four.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
What she's saying is she gonna be in the streets
with an s.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Multiple multiple streets.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
I'm gonna try and find me one street to stay off.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Just oh man, Sure it's time to love us us
on out.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
Oh my god, this has been so much fun. I
do not have a quote, but I do need to
say something, and I meant to say this at the
top of the show. You know, since life is so short. Yes,
when I think about first of all, from you and
I and iHeart and our iHeart family, we just want

(39:42):
to send our thoughts and prayers out to all the
people who've lost loved ones with the flooding going on
in Texas. You know, we we get to do what
we do and we love it and we have fun
and we enjoy it, but we also don't forget about

(40:02):
the issues and problems that's going on in this world.
And I just want to say to everybody out there, y'all,
it's just some really tough, scary times that we're living
in right now. Hold on to your loved ones, your friends,
your family, Make sure you tell somebody that you love

(40:24):
them every day, and don't take life for granted and
try to enjoy it as best you can. And absolutely
want to just send our biggest thoughts and prayers and
condolences to everyone who is dealing with the flooding that's
going on in Texas right now.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
We absolutely will keep you in our hearts one hundred percent.
And that is such a great note to end this
show on. Just like you said, tell people that you
love them every single day. Tomorrow is not promised, and
so make the best of the opportunity that you have
before we get out of here. Like before, before we

(41:04):
get out of here, there is one more thing that
I have to say to you. I have to give
you a huge congratulations because your.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
Grand baby is here.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Yeah, tell me.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Official.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
And I told you before we started because I am
so tired. But as soon as we're done, I am
hopping in my car. I'm going to go nap with
my grand baby. I'm turning my phone off, so don't
nobody call me.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
I love it, So tell the people your official name.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
I am a nan nan in a n a n
at least that's what I'm saying, but who knows what
he's gonna call me.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Oh, I ain't gonna telling he's gonna try to say
nan nan, and it's gonna sound like no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
No, yeah, but I'm so excited. Yes, we'll have to
bring Jordan on the show again to talk to us
