Hey, what's up, everybody? It's your girl, Terrika Posta Brassby.
What's up, y'all? It's girls Cheryl swoops Ah. I always
say my name different.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
I don't know. I mean, you got a cool name, like,
you can play with it, you know what I mean?
You know you can play with it a little bit.
And it's a very popular name. Cheryl. I don't know
if you know that, but your name's pretty popular. Arika.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Oh you, Oh my god, crazy crazy thing, my homegirl.
Send me a video the other day with somebody whose
name was also Tarika.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Now spell the exact same way, not.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Spelled the same way, but pronounce it the same way
she's spelled it. It kind of messed me up. I'm
not gonna lie because I'm not used to meeting too
many Tarika. Like I've met quite a few. Like I've
met quite a few, but like at this big age,
I don't meet too many.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
But they were at a table and event.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
She lives in Stockton, California, and they were at a
tabling event and girl trek.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
You ever heard a girl track? Girl trek was this And
one of them stopped by the table and this is
the craziest thing. And I got did you say? And
I got Red Hareton and she did.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
And that's why I died laughing, because I said, it's
got to be a comedian because what is happening?
Speaker 3 (01:43):
How you know?
Speaker 1 (01:44):
How about that? That should be like your long lost
twin sister. You know, they say we all have a
twin somewhere. I haven't found mine yet.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
I haven't quite I don't. I don't think we quite resemble.
But personality, why I could see it.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, I see it. Well, I couldn't really see her.
I could just hear.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
But well, yeah, I don't even know about now t
You're different, You just different.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
You are one of one. I'm gonna take that. I'm
gonna take that.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
I'm gonna take that one out questions, one on one
out here in these streets. Yeah, but hey, fam, welcome, everybody,
walk up to the show.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I never even truly introduced the show.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
That's the kind of Shenan against me and shrel Be
on early in the morning.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
That was on my fault. That was on me. I
interrupted you.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
But it's okay, it's all good. We're kicking it on
levels to this this morning. We've got a really fun
show lined up. We're gonna get into some basketball talk later,
but I gotta tell y'all about how Shrol be taking
this laziness shit to a new level, to a new like,
to a new level. Okay, now, listen, I am here.
(02:49):
I am not a morning person. I am absolutely not
a morning person. Like anytime anybody asked me to get
up in the morning to do anything, I'm gonna side
eye you for fifteen minutes first and then I'm gonna
do it. But I'm gonna look at you crazy. So
that means I must have coffee. It is a must,
must have it. Somebody says to.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Me when I get ready to get on the show.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Today, I would love to get some coffee, but I forgot,
and I was like, oh, dang, that's unfortunate, blah blah
blah blah. And then she says to me, oh, but
the coffee maker is sitting right here. I just don't
want to start it now, how the hell is your
coffee maker? Literally with an arms length and you don't want.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
To start it.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
You don't understand. It isn't arms lengths, but it's a process.
Like I gotta get up, I gotta put.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
Water in it. Oh, I gotta get my mug, I
gotta get my.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Cake cup, all the things, and I'm comfortable. How I'm
just comfortable in my seat right now. So I'm gonna
just sit here and drink my water and watch you
enjoy your coffee.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
These are first world problems. I want you to It's
just okay. Truth be told.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I've had one cup, but I usually I usually have
about three cups of coff Wow, And well let me
tell you why. So my dogs, right like, they sleep
in my room, not my bed.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
I'm not that person.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
They cannot be in my bed, but they sleep in
my room. And the crazy ass thing is so the
boy dog, he's the first one up every morning.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
So around six o'clock he comes to my side and
he never goes to my husband's side unless I'm out
of town. Anyway, he comes to my side and the
first bark is like this, right, like, are you awake?
If I don't respond, the second bark is so I
(04:52):
usually lay there until he gets to the third one,
and then the third one is the like.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Gitchow ass up me at all?
Speaker 1 (05:01):
So I get up, I let him out, and she
never wants to go when he goes, so I go back.
Sometimes I get back in bed right if it's six
o'clock in the morning, and I lie down for about
another ten minutes. Then she comes over like, okay, I'm
ready now. And this morning was one of those mornings
when I was like, you little bit, I know, like
(05:21):
I do not have time for this. Yeah, So I
started with coffee at six thirty this morning, okay six
thirty this morning, and then I had to have another one.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
And that's why my third cup, I'm like, do I
really need it?
Speaker 1 (05:33):
No, because it's gonna require me to get up out
of this comfortable seat and make it.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Now, when you add the additional contexts, it makes sense.
I probably too would be like forget this cup of coffee.
I'm also the one that will door dash a cup
of coffee. Don't judge me, I absolutely will. I will
absolutely see here not lazy. Then. Now listen, but we
weren't to We weren't talking about me. We were talking about.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You brought you up, but you brought you up.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
So DoorDash ruined ruined my life. Unless DoorDash wants to
be a sponsor for the show, than absolutely please come
be a sponsor for the show. But DoorDash ruined my
life because I no longer want to do anything anymore
as it relates to cooking or well, cooking not so
(06:27):
much like I don't really care so much. It's more
so time when it comes to cooking more than like
me like being lazy. It's just like I don't be
having a time. Like by the time I get through
to day, it's eight o'clock at night, and I'm like, fine,
well I don't feel like it now. I'm just don't
order something. But for a moment, like I didn't even
know did you even know that DoorDash had a premium
(06:47):
membership that you don't even pay for, you just reach it.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
I said, what the fuck what is this? I didn't
even know it. I didn't even know it.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
I called DoorDash help one time and they were like,
thank you for being a premium customers.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
I was like, premium customer, what is that ship? I'm
not a door that shoe.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
What I'm saying, I girl will so a cup of coffee.
If I don't feel like it, I will absolutely be
like duncan bring me a cup of coffee in a
in a bagel and we it.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Ever, don't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever let me
rephrase that, don't ever, ever, ever ever talk about me
being lazy, ma'am.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
I'm screaming no, ma'am.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Oh my god, that's so funny. But you know what,
it's been a really interesting week. I'm gonna switch gears
here for a second, and it's been a really interesting week.
Was Labor Day week, and when I see the US
Open is on, I'm like, oh, we're at the end
of the summer. It's US Open. And the US Open
(07:53):
had all the drama. Like usually the WNBA got all
the drama own, messy Mondays and sh this week it was.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
That damn US Open.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Everybody had drama and nobody brought it like my girl,
Taylor Townsend or brought it.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I am so proud of her, but also I aspire
to be her because the way she handled so for
anyone who's been living under a rock recently.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
And have missed that.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
At the end of her match with Isapanco, she went
up to say good match, shake her hand like they
do at the end of every match, and Sis was
like no, like basically she didn't even respond to her immediately,
and that's when Taylor was like, wow, like this is
what we're doing, Like you like this, this is how
(08:47):
we're acting.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
And she just turned around and started going off like,
you know, I don't have.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
To do anything, and when we play in the US,
this is how you play. You have a little education,
little class, you're the worst, dispecful.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Like no, it wasn't it wasn't even little class. She said,
you're classlest and you have no education.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Yeah, that's what she said. So they have a translator.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
Wait and wait until you play outside the US, Like
what the fuck does that mean?
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yes, so I found it doesn't matter what country I'm playing,
and I'm still gonna whoop your ass. And I found
I found a website that had a translator for the video,
and the translator said, you have no education, you have
no class, you are a disrespectful player, and then Towsend responded,
(09:40):
according to the translation, taking all instead of faking it,
that's okay. You can say whatever you want to say,
but you need to learn how to take a loss better,
but thank you so much, great job, great play, and
continue to smile brightly and wave at all of her fans.
And I was just blown away first off by you
(10:03):
have no class and no education, and then to come
back with the response later on your Instagram and be like, oh,
I didn't understand the way that some words or some
things are taken differently in the United States, because I
believe she's from Latvia, which is a different country in
Eastern Europe, and so it's like, I didn't understand that the.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Can you see my face right now?
Speaker 2 (10:26):
It's just like you ain't got to be from America
to understand telling somebody that they have no class and
no education.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
It's disrespectful as hell. Taylor. You are commendous this because
I'd have been like, Yo, who the fuck you? Who
are you talking to? Man?
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Man?
Speaker 3 (10:45):
When Queen says who talk to and listen. She handled
that whole situation.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Way better than I would have, Like it's one thing
to say the words right like, you're you have no education,
you have no class, all the things right like, and
don't come back and pretend like you didn't know what
what that meant or what you were saying, but let
(11:16):
me just tell you when it would have just gone
to whole different level, Yeah, levels to this where it
was go on to a whole different level with me
when she decided to put her finger in her face.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Yeah yeah, you would have walked.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
You would have I don't condone violence, but you would
have walked off the court with Forore with one fingerless nubs,
one fingerless nubs. Like like you talk about disrespectful, that's
one thing you don't do. You like, you know, you
can say what you want to say their words and
(11:53):
I'm gonna come back.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
And all the things.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
But when you start like really getting in my space,
and now you want to put your finger in my
like I'm a kid.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
All you needed to do was say all right, thanks, yeah,
and then you could have took your ass in the
back and talked all the shit you wanted about Taylor.
You could have went in it back and said whatever
you wanted. But you did that out You basically showed
your ass out there on that court.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
And what I love about.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
This entire situation is that all it did was just
really galvanized people to be behind her for the remainder
of the tournament. Like she ended up adding like one
hundred thousand plus additional followers on Instagram. And I remember
a couple of weeks ago because I followed tennis well
enough to know the players, and there was a video
(12:43):
that she made a couple of weeks ago where she
was asking people do you know who Taylor Townson is?
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Like, do you know who Taylor Townsend is?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
And people were walking around like there were a couple
who were like, yes, you, but most people were like, no,
I don't know who that is. So you basically that
you basically went people not knowing your face to be
coming yes.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
To being her on the show. Come on the show, Taylor.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
So yeah, I just wanted to make sure that we,
you know, gave her her flowers and just let her know, like,
you know, she's still playing in the US Open. She's
on the number one doubles team in the in the world,
so they're still playing. But yeah, if y'are the the
US Open is always. It's always I've been saying that
(13:34):
I was gonna go. I've never been me either. We
either we need to make that happen. So we need
to make that happen. Speaking of not going, it's a
few people who about to be sitting at home right
with us in a couple of weeks because they asked
to they ain't going.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
To the playoffs. They about to be.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
They about to be right here with us looking at
the US Open because they season is about to be over. Yes,
we we aren't talking about the w NBA playoffs that
are getting ready to kick off. And yeah, it's a
couple of teams that we know ain't making it, but
it's about to be another team that ain't gonna make it,
and we might not know exactly who they are, but
(14:13):
at the end of the day, it's gonna be a race.
And so let's just go ahead and take this thing
to the next level, all right.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
So, since before we go hop in the w stuff,
because it's a lot to talk about over there too,
I want to go back and ask you a question.
I want to get your thoughts on this because I've
read a lot and I heard people talking about it. Yes,
so first of all, to call someone class list and
(14:56):
not uneducated in all the things is disrespectful. Let alone
to do it to a black woman, that was it right?
Because we hear these things all the time. Let alone
in this this environment in this country, that we're living
(15:17):
in today, right.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
So don't do that like you you knew what you
were doing. You did. Here's my question to you. Do
you think.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
Had it not been a black woman, that she would
have said those things?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (15:39):
So I have asked myself that same question, And a
part of me wants to say, yeah, because I've heard
other tennis players just over the last week say that,
you know, JULANEA. Austapinka has been saying has a trash
record of saying some foul shit, right, So a part
of me wants to say she may have said, she
(16:00):
could have said it to somebody else.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Sure, I don't buy that you don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
That specifically using the language uneducated and no class and
disrespectful to a black woman of all people. I don't
buy that you don't know the context or the connotation
that comes behind it. Granted, you know, I understand you're
not American, but our struggle ain't just happening here in
America number one, And the things that have been done
(16:31):
and said to African Americans has been publicized. Please see
twenty twenty when people were holding Black Lives Matter rallies
over in London and Germany and France.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
So we're not about to sit here and act like
we don't know. Like, you're not stupid.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
You've been playing on American soil long enough to know
what the hell be going on over here. So while
I do think she probably would have use that language, regardless,
I don't buy that you didn't understand the connotation behind
it because you were talking to Taylor girl.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
No, bae, that was my thought, Bae. Yeah, you knew
what she was doing. Okay, Yeah, Taylor, keep doing you, boo.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
We see you keep doing it, keep doing you, keep
doing you for real, And I'm serious.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
You do need to come on the show.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
We're serious, We're serious. Yes, we're very very serious. Needs
to come on the show.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
But okay, So we are at the.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Wildest part of the season, right, wildest part, And so
before we get off into the conversation, I want to
make sure that everyone understands where the standings are in
the WNBA as of today and as of this recording.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah, so right now.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
The Minnesota Links are in first place and they have
clinched the spot and they have also clinched home court.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
So it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Throughout the playoffs, they are most they are they finna
be the number one seed, period.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
It is what it is, yeah, all right.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Number two is the Las Vegas Aces, who are tied
with number three the Atlanta Dream, so anything can happen there.
Both teams have clinched, but the position of the number
two seed is to love for grabs, all right. Number
four is the Phoenix Mercury, who have clinched a couple
of days ago, and last in the most recent matchup
(18:32):
for New York, they have now clinched a playoff spot
as well, So one, two, three, four, five is locked up.
Where things get interesting is six, seven and eight.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Currently, the Valkyries are sitting at number six, the Seattle
Storm is sitting at number seven, the Indiana Fever is
sitting at number eight, and the Los Angeles Sparks are.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Only on the law.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
Los Angeles Sparks are right there on Indiana's head. They
are a game out of taking the eight spot, so
they're still very much alive in this matchup, and they're
on a two game win streak and Indiana is on
a two game losing streak, so that can get messy. Washington, Connecticut, Dallas,
(19:24):
and Chicago are already eliminated.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
From contention.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
But I'm gonna tell you why that might not matter
for a second, because Atlanta is trying to get that
number two spot and they got to see Connecticut two
more times before the end of this, and I get it.
They got ten wins, but Connecticut playing really well for
the most part.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
They're playing very well, and I don't know, they're playing
very well. Yeah, so they could they could trying to
be the spoiler. They are there.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
They are the team of the eliminated teams. They are
the team that could spoil the most.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Like, there are certain games and I know Chicago's out
of it, but even Chicago, there are certain games where
they start out and I'm like, oh, Chicago is trying
to be a spoiler too, But they got.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
A match and then yeah, and then it's great, which
is interesting. So I wanted to talk about today, not
necessarily the entirety of the playoff picture, because I think
we pretty much assumed where certain teams were gonna fall.
But I think it's also fair to say that there
(20:27):
are a couple of teams. It's specifically the team sitting
currently in seven and eight that we got some real
concerns about.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Right now, we know as it relates.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
To Indiana, they've been dealing with some devastating injuries. No Caitlin,
no Sydney, no Airy, no Sophie is up there. They
didn't add it Otysey siums, they didn't added aerial powers.
Now they just recently added Shay Petty. Like it is,
(20:58):
there's a lot going on with with with the Indiana
and it's understandable that they would have taken some ls
try like and I mean over the course of this
part of the season, not necessarily over the last couple
of weeks, but just it's understandable that they would have
had that they would have dropped because for the most
part they were sitting firmly like fourth and fifth this season,
(21:20):
and then after the All Star break is where it
started to get a little crazy. So there's that Seattle,
I think surprises the hell out of me. I don't
know what to make of this Seattle team. I don't
know what to make of his sists because I look
at the roster, and the roster should tell me on
(21:40):
paper that this should be a top four, top.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
Five team easily easily.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
And I see them lose to Connecticut, I see them
get blown out by listen.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
So they beat Minnesota. They beat Minnesota and then they lost.
Was it the spark was La? It was either La
or Dallas.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
What are the two teams? And I was just like,
I don't think it was that. I think And I
was just like, what are we? Yeah? Yeah, you don't
know what to make of this team?
Speaker 2 (22:12):
And why that devastates me, besides the fact that y'all
got Necka and you got Skylar and you added Britney
Sykes that I thought was going to be a great
backup petition at the guard position.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Gabby Williams, Jabby Williams almost single handily beat the Olympic team.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Yes, yes, Gabby, assie what I'm confused? I'm confused.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
But why this devastates me is because I am a
fan of Noel Quinn at head coach. I am a
fan of Noel quill lover dealery and we you and
I specifically had a whole entire show at the beginning
of this season and at the beginning of our show
(23:01):
season as it relates to the changes in head coaching
and how women are not hired in the open positions,
how black women have somehow vanished from the head coaching world.
And the only and longest tenured outside of Cheryl Reeve
head coach in the league is probably about to have
(23:24):
her seat.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Question. All right, we had this conversation beginning of the season.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
You know, I was like, okay, Seattle right, like making moves,
Seattle will finish in the top three four right in
my mind and on paper to your point, they should have. Yeah,
So as the season goes on, like people say, what
you want to say when you're having investigations, right, So
(23:55):
they had one last year and I do believe was
there another one during this It.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Was like the beginning the beginning of this year. Yeah,
Like that takes.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
A toll on you mentally from a coach and staff,
but also players.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
My thing is this.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
I think both times it came back there was they
didn't find anything. Well, what the hell is going on
in Seattle? So then you have players who are like
I want out, And I get it. Maybe you want
out because you're not playing and you think you should
be playing.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
More so you want out.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
And I think they had two players this year there
was like I want out of here, Alicia Clark, and
yes it's like I want out. People speculated why whatever.
But my thing is it keeps coming back like players
are getting cussed out. I don't know what's going on
(24:59):
in Seattle. I'm like you. I'm a huge Noel Quinn fan,
always have been. I'm a big Pokey Chapman Poky Chapman. Yes,
love them, But as a black woman who played the game,
who now just is a fan and watches a game,
I don't want to see Noel Quinn in this situation.
(25:21):
She is the only black female head coach we have
left in the league.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Yeap.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Yeah, And with the expectations coming into this season that Seattle,
you know, would finish higher, I guess in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Here's the thing says they're not. It's not a given
that they will even make the playoffs. Sure, ain't at And.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
To me, if they don't make the playoffs that I
don't think that's a very good look for Noel because
people already calling for her head roll the season.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah right, Seattle has two games left to they have
and who do they play? They have New York on
and they have Golden State.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Mmm winning the games, but they're both losable games to.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
It depends on what Seattle Storm team shows up.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
It's as accurate and let's to be fair, because I
don't want to date the show per se. But we
keep it up buck, y'all know, sometimes we record a
little bit in advance, and both of these games will
probably have been played by the time y'all hear this episode,
so we'll see if they actually do pull it out
(26:44):
or not. But both of those games are winnable as
they are losable, specifically the game against Golden State.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Yeah, so I'm with you. I'm with you, sis that je.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
I hate to see Noel Quinn in this situation because
I don't like to call for nobody's job, and I
definitely don't want to call for I'm not calling for
her job.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
I don't nobody misconstrued what I'm Saying'm not calling for her.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Job, but I'm saying something is going on somewhere, whether
that's I don't know, if there's a disconnected communication and
coaching style. Now, if there is just a lack of effort,
if you know, players have checked out, If you know,
if y'all are giving the effort and it's still not clicking,
(27:33):
the inconsistency still exists, then maybe another roster shakeup is inevitable.
But something is not right and I am highly surprised
at this team sitting in the number seven spot and
not fully invested in a possible playoff. Like LA looks
(27:54):
good right now. They look like a dangerous team. Rakia Jacks, Yeah, Kia.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Ricka, Rickia, come on the show. But Golden State looks
good right now too. Yes, I just love how hard
they play every possession. They're never out of a gate.
It just Veronica Burton most improved player. I'm just putting
that out there. I don't get a vote, I'm just
saying I love the But listen, the two games at
(28:27):
the time of this recording, the two games that Seattle
has left and they're at home. You got to find
a way to win. You have to find a way
to win both of those games. And here's the thing
for me with New York, right I know at the
time of this recording, JJ and Tash just came back,
(28:49):
Sabrina still yeah, but like even New York right now, Yeah,
you want to get your players back, get everybody healthy.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
But that's a very winnable game for Seattle.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
It is it is, it is. It is a winnable
game for Seattle. But that might be the one game
where I'm like, that could go either way because it
really just depends on which New York team shows up, right,
And I don't necessarily mean the players on the court,
because I didn't seen Stewie and JJ and them be
on the court and not look well like still look
(29:23):
like they're trying to find a rhythm. So that's a
winnable game, but it could go either way. Golden State, however,
what I don't know about that one being a winnable
game because they're fighting for a playoff position too, Like
(29:47):
they're not locked into the sixty. So like these are
games that matter, Like these two games are games that matter.
They're not just frivolous games to close the season out.
They actually all have playoff implications for the teams that
Seattle is playing. That's dangerous for Seattle, Like you'd have
been better off just having a team with nothing to lose.
You got teams that really got something on the line.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
Yeah, that are that are coming in knowing we gotta
win this game.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
We gotta win this game, right, and you go, and
then you got La that's out there that just beats you,
but are out here trying to fight to take somebody spot, right,
Like it's a very so now I'm looking at the
mental aspect of where they are right now, just mentally,
you know, even if you get in, like I don't
(30:36):
know what your chances are at a deep run. And
that's unfortunate because Neka to me has had an incredible season.
Oh my gosh, she had oh my god, just like
not talked about enough, I mean, and part of that
is part of the inconsistency of Seattle, which is why
but not talked about enough Knicka ball this year.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
But since listen, listen, if you're Seattle, you can't go
into Minnesota down by twenty in the first half and
you come back and you beat Minnesota on their home court.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Shame on Minnesota for letting that hap y'all.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
But you can't go in there and win that game
and then go home a home dame thing and let.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
LA beat you.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
The inconsistency, Yeah, the inconsistency is scary.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
All right.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Let me ask you this, because I think Golden State
is in. I don't see a world in which they're
not in, but Seattle, Indiana Angels well, yes, but LA
is not in yet though. But I'm saying, like, betweeny,
Seattle and Indiana. Yep, which of the two if neither
(31:54):
of them, if one of them falls and La takes
a spot, who do you think is that team that
is the most vulnerable for that ac I know that
they're closer to Indiana, but as you and I just
discussed for fifteen minutes, Seattle ain'tven doing themselves no favors.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
So so, how many games does Indiana have left?
Speaker 2 (32:23):
So Indiana has three games? Well, no, yes, I'm right,
Indiana has three games left. They play Chicago, they play
oh god, they play Chicago, they at home, they play
what No, Yeah, they play Chicago at home. They play
Washington on the road, and then they play Minnesota to
(32:45):
end the season.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
Minnesota at home or on the road at home.
Speaker 1 (32:52):
Oh okay, listen, there is a part of me, a
big part of me.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
That says.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Kelsey Mitchell is gonna find a way. Mh She's gonna
find a way. And listen, Indiana, they have played Minnesota
very closely, without Caitlin, without uh Sid, without Airy. There's
something about that matchup that Indiana just loves playing Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Right. I am there with you.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
I think Golden State's in Golden State's gonna find a
way they're gonna be in.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Los Angeles is.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Really playing well right now, and I just think I
think there's something going on with Seattle mentally, emotionally. I
don't know what it is. I can't put my finger
on it. But even if Seattle did find a way
(34:11):
to finish in that seventh or eighth spot, I don't
know what kind of run they're going to have in
the playoffs. So part of me is like Seattle's out.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
In LA's in Okay, so.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Huh, don't ask me where and how and where they finish,
but I do I think Indiana finds a way, especially
with their schedule right they got Chicago at home, and
Chicago's already out, so who knows how they're gonna play?
Who's gonna play? Washington's already out, so who knows? Right
The only game that I would be like would be
(34:45):
a probably a tough game for them would be Minnesota.
And even in saying that, with Minnesota already clinched, you know,
getting ready for the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Who knows how much you know fee will play.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
I'm just saying I think I think Indiana will find
a way.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Okay, I too think that Indiana will find a way.
And I don't think seyl reeve care. I mean, she
played FIEF for forty minutes up. I'm sorry, she played
FIFA for thirty minutes up forty you'd be like dog like,
take a sh don't give a damn figure out right.
Speaker 3 (35:26):
I forgot out here, but I forgot. I forgot what
we're talking about. We forgot who were talking about.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
But I probably I might regret saying this, but I
think at the end of the day, Seattle will find
a way to come through in LA. As good as
they are playing, might still end up on the outside
looking in.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Who does it? Who's LA have left? LA has?
Speaker 2 (35:57):
I think they have a couple of home games, but
let me be sure they have quite a few games left.
They actually play Atlanta twice, they play Dallas, they play Phoenix,
and they play.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Las Vegas.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Oh okay, so LA, before I answered your question, Well, here's.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
The thing though, they play some playoff teams. So they
play Atlanta, which is a playoff team. Phoenix is a
price right. They play Atlanta twice, which are two playoff teams.
They play Vegas, which is a play like. They the
only non playoff team that they have left on their schedule.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Is Dallas.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Mm hm.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
It's not about the matchup though, because I think they
could still they could still pull off some WS against
these teams. I mean, Atlanta's got a lot of games
in these last few weeks. Told you they play Connecticut twice.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
They play twice, like they got.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
They got a decent little schedule, so they could be tired,
you know, they might want to want to rest.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Who knows, but some fatigue could play a role there.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
But at the end of the day, it's the Phoenix
in Vegas matchup that's interesting to me. If they clinch
then if they've already clinched, but I'm sorry if they
like clinch their seating. Those are probably the two teams
that I wonder if they will play everybody or you know,
whatever happens there.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
And they might given that they know that la.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
Is still trying to get in, so they might be like, no,
like we need the we need the competition. I don't
know they Vegas is just like Phoenix in a way
of trying to make sure that they let their stars
shine to get this MVP vote up. So anything could
happen in that regard, right, But I just think the
(37:54):
road ahead of Seattle while still can be difficult, maybe
a little easier than the road ahead of LA and we'll.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
Find a way. But here's my butt. Mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
If there is a team, if there is, if I
had to pick, if I had to gun in my
head and I gotta pick one, yeah, it just might
be Indiana.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
In or out out.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
If I had to pick one between the two, it
just might be Indiana.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:38):
Chicago feels like like these like we just talked about
these teams Washington.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
I think they probably got Minnesota. I think they match
up will.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Yeah, But because it is Chicago, right, it is Chicago.
Regardless of whether Caitlin's playing Angel play, it is still
Chicago and Indiana, right, And so of course Chicago's going
to go in and be like, now we're gonna we're
gonna mess up some ship for y'all.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
You got a great point, just yeah, yeah, I just
worry about I'm thinking. I'm thinking about Cam and Angel,
Like you got Natasha Howard down there, and you got
Aliyah for sure, But like Cam and Angel breaking some
they've been breaking some heat over the le Like the
schedule doesn't reflect it, but they've been breaking some heat. Yeah, No,
(39:27):
you're right, you're a correct with that one.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
There we go like it's it's that might be a
that might be a problem.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
I just know the season this year with this who's
still trying to make the playoffs because usually by now.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
You pretty much know who the.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Eight teams are gonna be. But that ain't that ain't
the case this year at all.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
That ain't think that ain't the case this year at all.
So everybody kick it with us when we come back.
We will wrap up this conversation. And I got a
quick question for Cheryl. Stay tuned, Suyl, quick question for you,
(40:20):
Where you fit?
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Where? Where? Where?
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Where we're gonna catch you for the w NBA playoffs?
Where are you finna catch you? Because you got to
be somewhere. I don't know if you're gonna be in
New York. I don't know if you're gonna be in Vegas.
I don't know where we're gonna be, but you we
got to catch you somewhere.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Well, probably Vegas, just because it's Vegas.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
And that's an easy trip for me.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
That's a real short trip for me from home to Vegas.
Speaker 3 (40:52):
But I was up in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
I was gonna say, it could be Atlanta or Phoenix. Oh, fick,
I need to we can go to Phoenix and go
kick it with our good sister, Cindy Brunson say fast.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
I don't think I've ever seen a game in Phoenix
as a fan.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Every time I'm in Phoenix is for work.
Speaker 1 (41:19):
No, we need to figure that out. We need to
figure it out. I'm looking at my schedule. We're gonna
make it happen. Where am I going and where are
you going? We're going together.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
I know right like it's gonna I need to go.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
And record a live episode wherever we're I have I
have no doubt that there will be a live episode
opportunity at some point in this playoffs because we got
to beat it. We got to be in the place,
we got to be in the building, So a live
episodes got to happen somewhere about from somebody at some point.
I don't know if it's gonna be the finals in
(41:56):
my finals, I do, I will say, though, I do
miss the day where semi finals and stuff used to
be in Chicago. Chicago, y'all got to get back good again,
because when I tell you.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
You got like the postseason atmosphere and win. Trust was fun.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
Like I need y'all to bring That's what I love
about Vegas. Like the atmosphere is.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Is there, it is, it is there, it is that.
Vegas is wild. Vegas.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Vegas is wild like you can only you know why.
I'm cool with that because I haven't been for a
couple of years. It felt like we were over saturated
with Vegas. Not the team, but just like having to
fly out there. There was All Star and there was
the playoffs and there I was like, damn in Vegas
like every other months. My god stuck, but I've stopped it.
It was a bunch. It was a bunch, but I
(42:45):
haven't been there. I haven't been here in a year now.
So it's what's time for me to make my parents
a Vegas.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
But yes, everybody listen, the w NBA playoffs and postseason
is going to be a lot of fun. Everybody needs
to be tuned in, Everybody needs to be locked in,
just so that everyone's aware. The postseason officially begins on Sunday,
September fourteenth, so the regular season ends on the eleventh.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
People got time.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
To figure out who's going where, what's doing what get
your schedules together, and then the playoffs officially begin on
September fourteenth.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Now, I'm gonna just be real with y'all.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
M hm.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
I'm probably gonna miss the first day of the playoffs
because my husband surprised me with tickets to the Coats game,
and that is on September fourteenth. So I will be
in Indianapolis watching the Indianapolis coach, drunk as hell.
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Screaming for my football team. That's what I'll be doing.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
I will be catching up on I'll watch all the
games that come on before four p but once kickoff happens,
y'all got the holler at me at about nine o'clock
long as.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
Long as I don't need to bring no bail money.
You don't need to bring no bail money.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Could But like I'm just being real, don't y'all tweet
me talking about what you think about the I don't know, sis,
I'm drunk watching football.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
Let's go oh my god, yes, yes, yes, yes, all right,
so keep it locked into more w NBA action and yeah,
let's go ahead and level this thing off.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
We'll be right back, all right. Yah.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
We've had an incredible time talking about women's basketball, as
we always do, look inside, look looking forward to the
excitement of the WNBA postseason, and you know, we about
to go ahead and wrap this thing up. And Suyl,
as you always do, you always leave us with something good.
I always get excited about this part of the show,
(45:12):
do you do.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
I think this one's really good.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
It kind of goes back to our surface level conversation
about Taylor Towns and you know, I'm sure there's just
a lot of people in the world that need to
hear myself included.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
And it says and I saw Viola Davis. I follow her.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
She always has a lot of good stuff, and she
posted this on her page and I was like, that's
the one courage is being yourself every day in a
world that tells you to be someone else.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Yeah, that is a perfect segue back to how we
started the show.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
Yeah, yeah, I just I've read that and I was like, oh,
it's so true. And also because you know, lots of
times we look around and we are trying to be
someone else, but we're trying to be someone else because
the world, or society or a person tells us that
we should be. So let me read it one more time.
Courage is being yourself every day in a world that
(46:19):
tells you to be someone else.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Y'all, keep being.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Great, Keep being great. Authenticity is everything. Nobody can be
you like you. I love that. Yeah, nobody, nobody can't
be Cheryl Swoops, honey, because ain't nobody got these ships.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
Ain't nobody got these MVPs. I also tell you or you,
because you are one of one.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
One of I'm about were about to put that on
a shirt. I'm just letting everybody know that, bend. Don't
y'all be out here trying to steal my idea now
because I'm about to put that on a shirt, one
of one. Oh my god, Well everybody, it has been
fun as it always is. We always always always enjoy
(47:07):
kicking it with you guys, and have y'all join us
