Speaker 1 (00:00):
Mees. Welcome to Music to our Ears, where we share
some interesting tidbits and stories related to our favorite Lingo
Kids songs. Today, we have a special episode to share
with you.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Yes, we brought to you a Christmas story, well not
really a Christmas story, because not everybody celebrates Christmas. And
actually this episode is exactly about this, how one holiday
can mean lots of different things to different people.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Ready, yay, booh, it's Jay, but I don't care.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
I'm feeling great.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Why do you feel so great, Lisa?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
We're just cold. I'll give you a hint. Cookies, magic pajamas.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Dwinkly lights, Lingo Kids listen. Do you want to figure
out why Lisa is so excited?
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Come on?
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Hmmm, cookies, matching pajamas, twinkly lights.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
I'm just not sure.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Can you give us another hint? Lisa?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Yes, I'm having an extra cozy kind.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
Of feeling, extra cozy, yup, extra cozy like sitting by
a warm fire with stockings nearby, cookies.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Matching pajamas, twinkly lights, and an extra cozy kind of feeling.
Kids at home? Any idea why Lisa is excited?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
That's it?
Speaker 3 (01:48):
Christmas, Oh, Christmas Christmas.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yes, Christmas. Why aren't you excited? Christmas is the best
day ever.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Extra cozy kind of feeling on Christmas. I've never had
matching pajamas, and I'm not allowed to eat cookies.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
No cookies, that's terrible.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Huh, Lisa loves Christmas, But Elliot and Cowie, you don't.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
I like Painty.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Then I sort of like Christmas, which sometimes makes me
feel a little bit sad.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Oh, well, maybe you're just not doing it right. I'm
pretty sure everyone loves Christmas.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Next time, try more lights, more I matching paj's or resents.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Oh good point, Billy. Not everybody celebrates Christmas.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
What but it's so wonderful. Some people are really missing out.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Well, maybe they don't feel like they're missing out, Lisa.
Many people celebrate different holidays around the same time. The
other holidays are wonderful too, really yep. For example, de Wali,
India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. It's
known as the Festival of Lights.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Lights like Christmas.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Lights, it's not related to Christmas, and people light up
the night with special lamps oh and fireworks woo. They
also decorate tables and floors with colorful art that is
made out of flower petals, rocks, or sand. It's a
wonderful holiday.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Too, colorful rock art, cruel.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Yeah, you'd really like it, Cowie. Another holiday is Hanukah.
That one includes delicious potato pancakes, eight candles to light,
and jelly donuts.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Wow. Sounds fun, Annie Jelly.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
It's great to celebrate Christmas and love it, Lisa. But
it's also good to know that some people don't celebrate Christmas,
and that's okay. Billy says he doesn't do Christmas, but
he still likes to decorate something funny a yellow cactus.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
You are doing it rights, Billy. Christmas trees are green
with ornaments and nights.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
That's true, Billy. There are lots of Christmas traditions around
the world. A dishit no, Cowie. Traditions. It means the
way people celebrate or the kinds of things they like
to do. People who celebrate Christmas do it in lots
of different ways.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
Ooo.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Did you know that in New Zealand people use a
red Christmas tree that grows by the ocean.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
I never knew that.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Good point, Billy. It's summertime in New Zealand on Christmas.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Wait, hat, no snow, no snow, summertime, Christmas.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Billy wants to s that. In Germany they hide a
pickle on the Christmas tree, and in South Africa people
eat a special kind of caterpillar on Christmas.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yeah, are pickles and caterpillars edishes?
Speaker 2 (05:17):
I mean traditions? You got it? I have an idea.
How about we make our own new traditions? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:28):
But what kids at home? What ideas for new traditions
can you think of?
Speaker 4 (05:43):
I know my tradition is going to be rolling in
the snow.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Weee, what will your tradition be?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Cowie, make that song, doody do that.
Speaker 5 (06:01):
I like new traditions, but I wish everyone could have
that extra cozy kind of feeling that I get it Christmas.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Oh, well maybe they can. What gives everyone that extra
cozy kind of feeling?
Speaker 5 (06:14):
Hot, Bess, we've lots of bubbles, oh a big also,
rolling in the.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Grass, listening to podcasts?
Speaker 2 (06:25):

Speaker 2 (06:27):
I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Here comes that one again.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Well, since we're inside, let's practice.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
