the Lingo Kids friends will discover? Let's find out to
(01:56):
the rainforest.
Speaker 7 (02:00):
I didn't know the rainforest was so loud, Elliott, that's
a good observation.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
Many animals make their homes in the rainforest.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
It's like a busy neighborhood, but a really green one,
and the wet one.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Stanny is so excited, less shaking.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
What do you hear, Stanley?
Speaker 4 (02:27):
Lingo Kids listeners, see if you can help Stanley figure
out what is making all these rainforests sounds?
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Birds?
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yep, more than nine hundred different kinds of birds live
in this forest, including a type of parrot called the
scarlet macaw.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
That's making that sound.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Bugs, Yes, those are cicada bugs.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
They make all that noise just by rubbing their wings together.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Fox.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
Yes, that noisy little fellow is called the radio robber frog.
Speaker 6 (03:04):

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yes, the howler monkey is the loudest animal on Earth.
Lingo Kids listeners, did your friends guess the sounds too well?
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Is their favorite sound? Will not the same as yours
or different. Sometimes it's fun to compare that howler monkey
just took Stanley. Oh no, oh, that fucky. She's so
fast and he's so swinging.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
Billy says, to grab onto these long vines and hold
on tight.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Good idea. Then we get swing too. Wait wait, Stanley.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Oh, thank goodness, you're okay.
Speaker 7 (04:09):
That monkey puts Stanley down very carefully. I think she
was trying to play naughty monkey.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
Hey, look where the monkey put Stanley Right next to
a big plant with heart shaped leaves and a.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Thin, windy stem. It looks like Stanley, but much much bigger.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
The leave is bigger than my head.
Speaker 8 (04:37):
This leaf is bigger than my whole body.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Billy says that many houseplants grow naturally in the rainforest.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Ah, maybe it's Stanley's long lost cousin.
Speaker 8 (04:52):
Oh, I just love family trips.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Billy says he thinks this plant is a type of philodendron.
Philodendron plants grow wild in the rainforest and in pots
in people's homes.
Speaker 7 (05:08):
I never knew Stanley was a Philly dandy lion. That
sounds so fancy.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Philodendron philodendrons are interesting plants. They are good climbers like monkeys. Yes,
in the rainforest, they climb tree trunks and keep their
leaves flat against the bark. As they get older, philodendrons
spread out more and their leaves can get very large.
Speaker 7 (05:35):
Wow, Philly dandy lions, I mean phillly Philly philodendrons. Yeah,
philodendrons are amazing.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
I always knew Stanley was speciel, but it is Stanley gonna.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Get that big.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
I don't think I have a big enough pot or
a big enough house, No, Lisa, Stanley is a houseplant.
Speaker 4 (06:04):
Plants in the rainforests can grow much, much bigger than
indoor plants.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
But how I mean, who takes care of them?
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah? Who waters them and sings to them?
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Poor poor rainforest plants.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
How will I survive?
Speaker 6 (06:21):
Don't worry, Cowie. The rainforest is the perfect.
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Environment for these plants, Lingo, kids, listeners, do you remember
what all plants need to survive?
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Water?
Speaker 7 (06:41):
No problem there, It's pretty rainy in the rainforest.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Sunlight.
Speaker 8 (06:49):
I see some in shady spots in the rainforest.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
Soil. Yep, teddy soil.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Here, Billy says, plants need air, and so do people
and animals.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Oh yeah, good one, Billy In.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Fact, plants play a very important role in making fresh
air that we all breathe. They take in carbon dioxide
and breathe out the fresh oxygen that we need to survive.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
So the rainforest plants do have everything they.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Need, and they even help us.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
So are you telling me that house plant Stanley actually
cleans the air in my house? Yep, Verrety new Stanley
was the best, but now I love him even more.
Speaker 8 (07:38):
We should all breathe in some of that plant oxygen.
Oh look, a beautiful butterfly.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
It's so big and blue.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
And landing right on Stanley.
Speaker 4 (07:58):
Billy says that this is a blue morpho butterfly. It
is the largest butterfly in the world.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Oh wow, look the monkey is swinging back here. Hey,
you monkey, keep your head.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Got my houseplant?
Speaker 2 (08:20):
The monkey is holding something.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
Billy says. The monkey is bringing Stanley a present.
Speaker 7 (08:29):
It looks like a banana.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (08:34):
Those grow in the rainforest too.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Thanks monkey. Stanley can't eat bananas, but he loves it
when I do.
