Speaker 1 (00:01):
It is our final day of asking what happened to
the one who got away? We are looking at that
question from every angle with the help of a very
particular deck of cards. I'm Sarah Wendell, I'm Alicia Ry.
Welcome to Love Struck Daily, where we bring a love
story to your ears every single day. I'm in love

(00:24):
with the same I love with you. We're talking all
about the one who got away, and we're using tarot. Yes,

(00:47):
today we're using tarot. I'm I'm very excited about this
um for one, because well, you do a digital tarror
reading every day, right I do? I do. I have
a digital astrology app. I have a digital Taro app
that I used through a Discord server. And it's interesting
because it's a random digital draw right like, and it's

(01:10):
it's and it's gorgeous because I can pick random decks
and so every day I get a different piece of
art that I get to look at and be like, wow,
this is gorgeous. But often there's part of whatever message,
whatever narrative comes up, there's a part of it where
I'm like, oh, yeah, I didn't need to hear that. Okay, cool,
that's that's really nice. I've only I've had one terror
reading and it was by accident. Yeah, I was in

(01:33):
my favorite tea shop in d C. It's called Calabash.
I love that place. Oh you have told me about
Calaba Yeah, it is very magical. It was, and it
was way more magical. I mean, it's still a lovely
place with great tease. But before the pandemic, in the
glory days, you know, it had all these plush couches
and you could sit and linger for like hours and

(01:55):
just keep ordering food and drinks. And every like Tuesday
of like every other month or something, there would be
a terror group reading. Like this terror group would come
in and they just like chat with each other. So
one day this guy came in and he sat like
near me, and he just leaned over and he's like, Hey,
do you want me to do your reading. I'm just
waiting for the rest of my group to arrive and
I'm just practicing. And I was like sure. So he

(02:17):
did my reading and it was actually really wonderful, Like
he was a wonderful man, and he was very warm, older,
and and he basically just told me like I was
in a really like sad place at the time, and
he was just like it's going to get better, it's
going to be great. And of course I was like,
tell me about my love life, and he's like, you're
gonna meet this wonderful person and they're going to be

(02:39):
your best friend. And now, like every now and again,
I think about that man like six years ago, and
I think, oh, he's sorright. He nailed this one on
the head. So I that's my only brush with tarot.
I don't really know much about it, but I am
open to learning. One of the things I love about

(03:01):
tarot and divination and all of these sort of narrative
forms of connection with people is that it's all based
in the idea of asking yourself what do you want?
But with the divination you're getting sort of a hint
before because it's hard to ask yourself what you want.

(03:22):
It's hard to say, Okay, what do I want to do?
Where do I want to be in this much time?
What am I working for? Why am I doing this?
What do I want? And having clues almost like a
breadcrumb trail to help you see, oh, does this resonate
with me or not? Is a way of identifying, Okay,
what do I want? And everyone's wants are different and wonders.
So much pressure to do what people think we should do,

(03:44):
but asking yourself is very hard. And this week we
are answering the question for each guest who has someone
who got away, someone they've always been curious about. And
today we have two wonderful guests joining us to answer
that question. First, Lizzie May, who has always wondered about
their best friend who they fell in love with. And

(04:06):
to help Lizzie out, We've invited Sarah Potter onto the show.
Any show with additional Sarah's is excellent. Sarah Potter is
a professional witch, tarot reader, and practitioner of color magic.
We are going to talk to Sarah more about what
color magic is and we're going to find out how
much Sarah loves sharing the magic of color and taro

(04:26):
with thousands of clients over the years to promote self empowerment. Yes,
please welcome Lizzie and Sarah. Thank you both so much
for joining us. We're really excited for this. So, Sarah,
can you tell us a little bit about what you
do and how you got into it. So my name

(04:48):
is Sarah Potter and I am a witch based in
New York City. I found Taro when I was twelve
years old, because honestly, like Tara and Witchcraft the same time,
I wanted to know who had a crush on me
and what to do about it? Obviously, right, does it

(05:08):
ever change? I don't think so, your practitioner of color magic,
what is color magic exactly? Because I don't think I've
heard that term before. No, I haven't either, and I
wanted you to ask that question. Yeah, well, I'm so
thrilled to tell you so. Color magic is playing with
the energy of every color of the rainbow. Because each

(05:31):
color holds right, it holds an emotional response. It helps
us enhance our intentions, our manifestations. And what I love
about the magic of color is, you know, all of
these modalities are so fantastic. We're tapping into the same energy,
just taking different channels in different pathways. But what I
love about colors, we're all working in that frequency. We

(05:55):
all have a favorite color, we all have the colors
that were repelled by and and it's something where like
you know, I love crystals, I love Taro, I love astrology,
but it takes a lot of study, and the magic
of color does too. But what I love about this
frequency is we all understand the concept of color innately.

(06:15):
We've grown up with color. We're picking out what to
wear every day, how to adorn ourselves, our homes. We
know how colors make us feel, and that's the first
step of invoking its magic. Once we dive deeper, we
understand more about each color and how to use it intentionally.
And that's something that I love to do in my

(06:37):
own practice and to welcome my clients into this frequency
as well. That's so cool. Yeah, that's amazing, Lizzie. Why
don't you tell us your story about the person who
got away? Minds? I think my story is a little sad,
but I was recently divorced and in that process there

(07:00):
was a close friend that I had developed like really
deep and intimate feelings for that I just completely lost
in the whole divorce process. And I think for me,
my leos and venus, So there's a little bit of
like the line between platonic and romantic is not always
forever clear for me, there's so much, like you know,

(07:22):
luscious fertile space in there. But this very much does
feel like the one that got away, because it's like
that was tragic, like I lost this person as a friend,
you know, a potential lover. But everything like it felt
very painful. It's still something that I feel like now
I'm in the process of trying to like reopen my
heart through that grief. Are you Are you wondering anything

(07:43):
specific about them? Do you think about what they're doing
or what they're up to? No? Not really. I mean
it was so like painful, and I feel like unnecessary
that It's not like I really want this person back,
but I do want to open my heart again, you know,
I do want to move through that pain. Yeah, sometimes
closure is like the most desirable thing out of everything.

(08:05):
Why are you interested in consulting an astrologer about this
situation or someone who can help. I'm really curious about
my venus placement and because this is this is a
pattern for me of having these deep, intense, wild friendships
that then beer into romantic love for me, I feel
very curious about that. And I mean, I just really

(08:26):
enjoy alternative modalities, healing modalities. I find so much wisdom
in many people that practice these kinds of traditions, and
often unexpected wisdom. It's not like advice when I went
through the same thing, but it feels like it's coming
through the back door, and therefore it can speak to
the parts of myself that I'm even less aware of.
What a great way to describe that. Yeah have you

(08:49):
have you ever had your terror rete? Oh? Yeah, constantly?
Oh constantly. Oh wow, Well you're in luck because we
have Say what I really love about Tarot is I
feel like we all can get so stuck in our heads,
and I feel like, Lizzy, you mentioned that you recognize
this as a pattern, and Tarot can help us see

(09:12):
another perspective, see another side of the situation of ourselves,
so we can see maybe something you've been missing or
a little cosmic advice that can come through to support you.
Because I mean, divorce is so painful. I don't I
don't need to tell you that. And I feel like
situations like divorce can become even more challenging when the

(09:36):
people that we seek to for support around us some
of them can't stay. And it sounds like so it's
like not just we're grieving the loss of the marriage,
We're grieving the loss of the support system that was
showing up in many different ways through many different people.
So I feel like this is the perfect opportunity to

(09:57):
consult the cards, look for a little whizdom um, see
something that you may have missed about the situation or
about yourself. Because I feel like, no matter what's going on,
there's always something to remain inspired, hopeful and optimistic for
because we need to feel the feelings in order to

(10:19):
release them, let them go and move forward. Right. That's wonderful,
so much compassion. And I don't I don't want to
waste a single minute. So why don't we Why don't
we go ahead and we'll do our reading because I'm
so excited to see what comes up me too? Okay, So, Lucy,
I have a couple ideas in mind, but I want
to ask you, what's your question? Like how can I

(10:42):
be supportive and and help you through this moment? I
feel like I want to know, like how can I
release and open up? That is a beautiful question because
I think the best questions are centered on you. The clearance?

(11:05):
May I ask what deck you have? You? May So?
I used the Miss Cleo deck. I love them, the
psychic I did not know, Miss Cleo how to tarot deck.
My day is entirely made. Everyone can go back to bed.
That's so cool, Miss So, I feel like growing up

(11:25):
as a psychic child, I didn't have a lot of
icons that I felt like, we're doing something that I
dreamed of. And I loved Miss Cleo's ads on TV.
And this deck came out around two thousand and it
actually came out with a VHS tape. MS Cleo teaches

(11:45):
you to read the cards. Did you watch the tape?
You know? So? I don't own the tape, but friends
will find the tape in various places and a VCR
and always send me a little clip. Oh that's so cute,
it's very sweet's amazing. Okay, we'n ask the card. It's

(12:07):
how Lucy can release this relationship and move forward with
fine guidance. Oh, this is good. This is good. Okay,
I gotta tell you, Lucy, it's gonna get better. Okay,

(12:28):
I promise we'll be back after this short break. But
the first thing before we move forward, let's acknowledge where
we are right now. It's pretty rough, right, We're starting

(12:51):
with the Ten of Swords, and so this card, it's
a pretty powerful card. The Ten of Swords. Tens are
always the ending, and the ten of Swords is like,
it's pretty bad. But what I love about this card.
It makes me think of what my mom says. It's
always darkest before the dawn, so it's pretty difficult. But
the sun will rise again. It will get easier, it

(13:13):
will get better with the passing of time. But the
best thing you can do right now is feel every
feeling free of judgment. This is just a reminder to
grieve the loss, to feel it. Feelings aren't logical, they're
just feelings. Feel them. It is getting easier, and I
do feel like the sun is just beginning to rise.
You're starting to see the little sparkles of the rays

(13:36):
that there is a better tomorrow coming. Next up, we
have the Queen of Swords and this queen did arrive reversed.
And what I love about the Queen of Swords is
I feel like her energy comes through to remind us
to honor our boundaries, to honor our limits. So what
I feel like too, especially earlier in the conversation when

(13:58):
Sarah Alicia were asking you about this person who, like,
do do you think about them? Do you want to
know what they're up to? And You're like not really
that I love that. I feel like that is Cream
of Swords energy because it really isn't about this person.
This is about you, your experience and what you're going through.
And I think I feel like the Cream of Swords
reminds us to honor our boundaries for our own self care.

(14:21):
So I feel like anything that you need to feel
your best, this could also be saying no to opportunities, invitations,
if you need more time for yourself, for your own
self care, whatever limits you need. So I pulled five
cards and in the middle we have the one and
only appearance of the major Arcanic card, and the major
Arcina shows us big moments, big lessons. Uh, this is

(14:47):
what you need to hear, and it is a biggie.
It's the death card. So to me, this is all
about like, yes, it's an ending, but it's also a transition,
and it's a transformation for you. And I feel like
when we have these people who come into our lives
who feel like that the one that got away, I
think they just they mirror what we're looking for in someone.

(15:11):
So I would think about what did you learn from
this person's presence in your life? Perhaps they showed you
something that was even missing in your relationship. I feel
like very deeply moved and I think particularly by the
death card. That's so profound to me. And actually, my

(15:31):
grandfather passed away last week and so I'm oh noo, yeah,
And so I went to his funeral and it was
pretty like it felt, you know, the death felt very
fresh and open, and then it was like being around
the family, it felt fresh and open. And then we
got to see the cast get lowered into the earth.
And at that moment I felt this like profound somatic settling,

(15:52):
like all through my body where I was like, it's
it's done, it's done, returned to the earth, and like
when you pulled a card, I just saw the same thing. Yes,
oh that's so powerful. I'm sorry for the loss of
your grandfather. It is such a powerful card. And I

(16:12):
love how you embrace it because there's nothing to be
afraid of. I feel like, to me, it's the closure
you've been looking for and wanting. It's here and to
know again. I want to bring you back to that
Queen of Swords energy, something that you that's really necessary
for you and for your heart to feel safe, supported

(16:35):
and seen in a relationship. Bringing these concepts and this
is something where I feel like any pain can be
a valuable lesson. It doesn't make the pain easier, but
I think that the lessons we learned so that we
know moving forward, we're not going to be there again
because it's been highlighted, it's been illuminated, and now we
can bring it in. We can honor the ending and say,

(16:58):
you know what that was missing. I'm going to transform
this into something far better so that I can enjoy
my life more because we do have the Nine of
Coins showing up after all of these biggias, these challenging cards,
the Nine of Coins shows up, and it's like, there's
so much to enjoy in life. This is all about

(17:21):
the pleasure of our free time and doing what we
wish and what we desire. And to me, this feels
like for you being with those people too. It's like,
I feel like enjoying your own free time, spending it
however you want, but with the people you want to
And what I'm even curious about is it feels like

(17:43):
to be like this person that we're talking about. You
had a lot in common, and I feel like your
values were similar, the way you like to spend your
time and your energy was similar. And I'm curious of
in past relationships if that's been kind of a little
bit of a miss, and thinking about that moving forward,
what you're looking for in someone else, really honoring not

(18:06):
just what you need in relationships, but how you want
to spend not just the challenging times, but like the fun,
pleasurable good times together, so that we're on the same page.
And I gotta tell you, I don't know if you're
there yet, but I do think, like I think a
new relationship is like around the corner for you. Like

(18:29):
I do think someone knew is coming because I gotta
tell you, a lot of swords came through and like
because the next card we have is the night of Swords.
And what I kind of like about the night is
the night goes running into the next thing. And so
so to me, like even though there's been like a
lot of lessons, there's been pain, a whirlwind of emotions,

(18:51):
it's not keeping you from falling in love and connecting
with someone else again. And so to me, it's like
let your heart open that these swords also remind me
that love isn't logical. It's a it's a feeling, it's
an emotion. But the wisdom and experience you've had it
can temper, that ability to just run wildly or blindly

(19:14):
into the next thing. You're running into the next relationship
with your eyes wide open through this experience. Does that
make sense? And did I answer your question? Yeah? That
was so beautiful, particularly the death card and what you
said about integration, Like it's the integration like folding back
into the earth, like folding what that person meant to

(19:35):
me into my own body, like incorporating it. That feels
so real to me and so true. Like there was
so much that I admired that Now if I really
asked the question, like can I see that in myself?
Can I be that? It's like yes, like I've changed
so much, you know, this has been such a transformative journey,
and seeing that as a gift rather than as exclusively

(19:58):
pain is also or like feeling proud of myself, you know,
like Okay, I admire these things about this person. Now
I am those things Like that's beautiful. Yes, yes, exactly,
I love that. Sarah. In your experience, have you seen
tarot lead people to love? Like do you do you

(20:20):
think that that's possible? Or is it? Like you said,
like you know, maybe after you have a reading, you're
a little more open to possibilities. I think it's both.
I absolutely I witnessed how Tarot leads to love constantly
through this work, through my own experiences, I feel like

(20:41):
sometimes we just need a little cosmic push and Tarroll
can help us do just that. That's so lovely. Well,
thank you, Thank you both so much for coming on.
I hope this is a healing process and also a
fun process. It was. It was really fun and feeling,
I think for both of us, so we really enjoy
we didn't we enjoyed both of you. So thank you,

(21:46):
I am in awe of this. Sarah, Well, I am
an almost Sarah's at least the ones on the show.
So it was great. What is your love to go
for this episode? Well, this, this quote came to mind
while I was listening, and it's been attributed to Seneca
and it's also been attributed to Semi Sonic, So take
your pick. But every new beginning comes from some other beginnings.

(22:10):
And oh, that's such a love I love that song.
That was when I was in high school and I
used to play it on repeat. So that's a great
song and great advice. And if you really look at
the lyrics, it's it's very deep. Oh it's like poetry. Yeah,
it's a very deep song. And it's about how we
are continuously evolving and things come to an end and

(22:32):
that's okay. Yeah, it is hard sometimes to remember that
that is okay. It's tough to let things go. But
you know, sometimes people are there for a reason or
a season. Sometimes you know, and you've gotta it's true,
you gotta figure it out which one it is. But
I appeared my life for a long time. It's been
a while. I don't feel like going anywhere okay, good.
