at the end of the show, we are giving away
two tickets to the Orlanto Magic and the Boston Celtics,
(01:47):
and that is fan appreciation Night inside Kia Center.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
So whoever has the best question, comment.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Whatever it may be, We're gonna pick a winner here
at the end of the broadcast.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
And again, you have to be in Orlando.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I think we know that by now, but you have
to be in Orlando obviously to attend the game to
win the tickets, and we will determine that here at
the end of the show. So it should be should
be a lot of fun, lots to get to a
busy weekend.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
We'll recap all of it.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
But again, the Magic back at it tomorrow they're gonna
host the Atlanta Hawks.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
We'll have it for you at six thirty.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Jake Chapman will have the call in ninety six nine
in the game and we'll have it for you on
fan Duel Sports Network, and.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
The Magic come in Jake.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Seven in the Eastern Conference and a huge game looms.
You have a chance to win the tiebreaker. It clinched
the tiebreaker really if you finished tied with Atlanta with
that big win tomorrow, So lots to get to Hall
of Fame induction. Big game tonight, NCAA Championship, the Florida
Gators will be in action. Congrats to Osceola who wins
(02:44):
last night. They are headed to the g League Finals.
I mean, we have got a ton to cover here
on Magic Insiders, but again, nothing bigger than the game
tomorrow against Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Jake, Yeah, it's obviously gonna be a big one tomorrow.
We've got the NCAA Championship game going on tonight, obviously,
and it was a huge weekend getting ready for tomorrow,
d You just don't get this many days off this
time of year. Ever, it was a quirk in the schedule,
and so obviously the magic you know, a couple of
days of practice, a couple of days to get right
(03:13):
and rested, and a couple of days to hit the
film room and lock in on both the Atlanta Hawks
and the Boston Celtics. We'll see, you know. As far
as as how important the game is for Boston on Wednesday,
it'd be nice, true too, right if it wasn't, But
the Cavaliers unable to clinch the top seed last night
with the loss of the Sacramento King, So it still
does sort of loom large for Boston. But a huge
(03:35):
week and you and I have got a chance to
sort of catch our breath a little bit over the weekend.
So I'm ready to go.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, we certainly are, and that that game against the
Boston Celtics is big because Boston actually plays let's see that. Yeah,
they're gonna play the night before, They're gonna play at
New York the night before, so there could be a
lot of implications with that. So depending on what they
if they have everything locked up and they come to
Orlando and that could potentially be the first round matchup.
If Orlando gets through play in scenario, they may have
(04:01):
no one sent them to play anybody. So either way,
whether they are a full go or rest guys or whatever,
we have to attack this week.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Jake, you're thirty eight and forty.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
You have a chance to finish with the winning record.
If you can go you know you can go five hundred.
If you go three and one here this week, you
have a chance to have a winning record if if
you can sweep out the weekend.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Either way, it's hard to believe that.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
This whole thing comes to a close here on Sunday,
So certainly that is that is something we'll have to monitor.
And again the question from Will Dawson, do we own
the tie breaker, and no, we do not, but we haven't.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Lost it yet.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
We have a two game lead in the division, which
is huge, and if you beat Atlanta tomorrow, there is
no scenario where Miami or Atlanta can have a better
division record than you. Now that doesn't matter if you
don't finish tied or ahead of them, if you finish
behind them in the standing. So either way, there are
limitless scenarios. But really it comes down to tomorrow night
(04:56):
against Atlanta. Nothing's bigger than that, and it comes at
a good time. Jake, You're coming off a big winning
against Washington. You're now eight and two on the road
since the All Star Break.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Which is absolutely incredible.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
With the way that you handled the Washington Wizards one
oh nine to ninety seven, you're now seventeen and three
when you hold your opponent under one hundred points. But
obviously the big story, and we all know this, Polo
Banco just continues to be a star, and he has
become a superstar in front of our eyes ever since
last year really when he became an All Star and
now continues here this year. He's just been terrific. Third
(05:30):
player twenty two were younger to go for four thousand points,
thirteen hundred rebounds, nine hundred assists, and that's at twenty
two were younger NBA history, regardless of age. First three
years in the NBA, he's one of twelve, one of
twelve there've been I don't about you, Jaiy, but there's
been a lot of NBA players in the history of
the NBA, and he's one of twelve that have put
(05:52):
up those numbers in their first three years, four thousand points,
thirteen hundred rebounds, nine hundred assists would have done it
a lot earlier if he didn't miss thirty four games
due to a tortal bleak. Think about that, this news
would have happened midway through the season. And let alone,
he's third in scoring since the All Star Break with
twenty nine point four points per game, and he's gonna
go into tomorrow's game with nineteen consecutive games of twenty
(06:15):
or more.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
How about what we're getting from polow band Caro, including
a career high eighteen rebounds in that win against Washington, Well.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
That was you know, that was the one that leaves
off the page. Atches eighteen boards and you're going, you know,
if he wanted to, the guy could probably have ten
twelve rebounds a night and average that for a season.
It just feels like the game's coming so easily to
him right now. By the way, he had eight assists
in that game as well, the game's coming so easily
to him right now. It's no cool incidents. At the
(06:42):
rest of the Magic offense has been a step up.
Still not where you want it to be, but it's
been a step up since the All Star break, using
Polow's game as sort of the bedrock, and you know,
he's just scratching the surface. You and I did it
on Magic Insiders last week, going through you know, a
list of the guys who he's putting up number similar
to the Lucas and the Jokic's of course, be honest,
(07:03):
right and Shay and all those guys are four or
five some eight years older. So you just you know,
the thing that makes paula special is one of them anyways,
is the body. And that is everybody we talked to
when he was coming out. This goes back to Duke
right boy when you see it, and even players who
come in he is doing the game with Brandon bass
and and Terrence when he first came into the fold,
(07:26):
when they get up close to him, they go, this
guy is built like a like a like a grown man,
like a twenty eight year old NBA pro. He's had
that to sort of build off of. And that is
still you know, he's still getting his body to where
he wants it to be. But coming back off that injury,
that was it wasn't a sort of conditioning, It was
just getting his body to where he trusted it again.
And to where he can with stand night in and
(07:47):
night out of some of the pounding that he takes
because he is he's a physical player and that's only
going to get better. So I mean, he's I don't
want to say physically dominant, but he is physically a
step up from a lot of guys in the league.
At twenty two years old, six ten and fifty pounds.
He's just a special player and he's only getting better.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
You know, this is interesting here, and you're right about
all that stuff. The body is huge, and he recently said,
we want to play faster. It helps us when we
play faster. We want to get out and it's more
conducive to our game. We get out in transition, we
can create more buckets. So all things are working, like
Polo is hoping in this Magic team is hoping right now.
How about this point from quick tips And I think
(08:27):
that's interesting. The Magic's defense will thrive in the playoffs
the refs let the players play and don't call as
many foules. I think that's very interesting, Jake. We have
kind of already seen and Trey Young has been talking
about it, and a lot of NBA outspoken NBA players
have been saying here that really this year and certainly
the last couple of months, a couple of weeks, as
we ramp up.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
For the playoffs, they're allowed to play.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
There is a physical style of basketball that has been
allowed this year. It kind of a little bit of
a change, and as we go into the playoffs, that
brand of basketball could be very conducive to the wain
that the Magic play, especially on the defensive end.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Nobody's allowed fewer points per.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Game than the Orlando Magic, and now the offense has
been up a tick the actually middle of the pack
here the last eight to ten games offensively and offensive ratings.
So maybe as you head into the final four games
of playing scenario and then the playoffs, you're allowed to
play a defensive style that's conducive to the way that
you play.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
I think it's a great point. And you know, the
Magic have all season long sort of towed the line
between playing the physical brain of defense that we're hoping
to play and and you know, sort of going overboard
and putting teams on the free throw line and just
gifting them free points. Look against Cleveland and against Boston, Yes,
it's going to be a long shot in our first
(09:41):
round series against those teams. We understand that. But you
know what you need to beat both those teams I
think is size and physicality, and you want to try
to grind that thing into a long series. You want
to wear those teams down, and you want to to
interrupt their rhythm offensively. You're not going to keep those
(10:01):
guys from a hundred points right four out of seven
games their offense.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
And I would I would add one more wrinkle. You
need to score. You need.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Whoever plays them, and that's not just whoever plays those
two teams needs to be able to.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Score many points.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Well.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
So this uptick and offense here the last you know,
a couple of weeks of the season could be huge,
but it's got to continue.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
You got to be able to put up points.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
It'll be, it'll be, It'll be obviously be a huge key.
And that's why I say those series probably would be
a long shots. Look thee the way we're playing right now,
I think we got a shot against either of those teams.
And I do think. I did a Cleveland interview last
week and I told them that I said, look the injuries.
You know, if we had Jalen and Mo, we'll talk.
The injuries have have kind of derailed things a little bit.
(10:46):
But I said, look right now, okay, you brought in
DeAndre Hunter in a seven game series against the Cavaliers.
Who's gonna guard Polo or Franz like they've got You
can put Tobally on one of them. And we know
Moble just right against Franz just not many teams have
the size at the wing spots to be able to
defend our two jumbo wings for two straight weeks. And
so I think, no matter what, that's gonna you know,
(11:08):
that's gonna at the very least make it a bit
interesting against a team like Boston. We got a question
in here. This is from schlaz or Slas. I'm still
not sure.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
I think it's I think it's I think it's like
an a h z z z ez like Slaws.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
That's what I'm guessing, right, Is that right?
Speaker 3 (11:26):
We'll ask him, sla if you could, If you could,
let's say, what is that Austin Feffer incorporated? Uh, let's
say we beat the dogs, Shirley.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
That is good, laverted everybody, Google averted surely.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
For all the children out there, for all if we
play the Celtics, in the playoffs, which players would you
like to see the most on the court, And that
kind of goes into what we were talking about. You're
gonna need size against those guys, and you're gonna need
to show multiple looks to the Jays. And it's similar
against Cleveland, only you're more focused on the backcourt against
those guys. But you're against Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown.
(12:07):
It can't just be Fronz and Polo matching up with
those guys because I think that you know, that ends
up probably working their favor. We need those guys freed
up offensively. Those guys are so prolific that even when
the J's aren't rolling knocking down threes, it got there,
right They got all these guys getting up forty five
threes a night, forty nine or whatever. So I think
against that team, it would be you got to go
(12:28):
deep into your bench. I want to see ab playing
big minutes and defending those guys. Goga. You're gonna need
your your defensive versatile size to show up big against
that team, very specifically, and so that'd be my answer.
Against Boston. I think Boston sort of the way they're
playing right now is they have to be the odds
on favorite in the Eastern Conference, regardless of whether or
(12:48):
not they finish with the one seed. I want to
see if Cleveland can do it. But no matter what,
I think, as long as you score, as Dante said,
or at the very least you know you're getting into
double digit threes a night, get up over one hundred point,
I think we have a shot in either of those years.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Defensively, you can beat anybody. And listen, you're in every
game defensively, no matter what. And I don't think to
your point, there is no team in the East that
wants to face.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Follow in Franz.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
The way they're cooking right now, ten consecutive games of
twenty or more most enfranchise history.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
They're just a list of accolades.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Keep going and going and going, a list of consecutive
games twenty points, twenty three or younger. It's only Karl, Anthony,
Towns and Wiggins in NBA history that have done it
more times than following Franz. So they continue to rack
up the accolades. But we've got more coming your way.
Here are magic insiders. In just a moment, and Jake,
I want you to kind of ponder this science question
as we duck in a break here. It comes from
(13:37):
Kevin Anton.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Oh, my brain, is what a good one.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
It's a good or if you could take one current
Magic player and clone them to fill all five positions
on the court, who would it be and how would
that team actually play? Very interesting And again we're giving
away a pair of tickets, so the Magic and the
Celtics Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday, the Magic and the
Celtics and no Brandon. It's not going to be four
(14:01):
tickets on the road in Atlanta. We don't have that
kind of pull, so we can't help you there, but
we're looking at we do have two tickets for the
Magic and Celtics at home for those of you that
live in Orlando or close enough to get here to
that game on.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Fan Appreciation Night on Wednesday, We're coming your way here.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
On Magic Insiders, in just a moment, calling all Magic
fans and honor of the twenty four to twenty five season,
we're given one lucky winner the chance to win an
autographed or Lando Magic jersey from Polo Banco himself. The

(14:39):
More Magic Insiders, including your questions and a winner for
the Magic Celtics tickets when we return.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
This is Polo ban Carol the Orlando Magic. We're listening
to Magic Insiders with Dante and Jake on the Magic
Flagship Station ninety six to nine in the game.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
And welcome back every one of this Magic Insiders that
were presented by International Diamond Center Dante, Marcateelly, Jake Chapman,
Year with you and the Ortlanto Magic are back in
action tomorrow night. They're gonna host the Atlanta Hawks and
we'll have it for you at six thirty on ninety
six to nine the Game and six thirty on FanDuel
Sports Network. Right now, let's get you Our call the
game and our call the game is brought you by
Clip from Ring Central. Rethink the way you work with
(15:15):
secure meetings and messaging on any device with Clip by RingCentral.
Visit clip dot com to learn more. And for that, Jake,
how about the Ossiola Magic Last night. I thought that
was pretty cool. I watched Mac mcclunk, so my call
the game is kind of twofold. Number one, congrats Osceola.
They're going to the G League Finals and game number
one of the G League Finals will be tomorrow night
(15:37):
at eight o'clock at Ostiola Heritage Park. So eight o'clock
and again you go to you can go to osiolamagic
dot com slash playoffs to get your tickets osiolamagic dot
com slash Playoffs to get your tickets. And then if
there is a game three, remember it's best of three.
If there is a game three, that will be April
fourteenth at eight pm, also in Kissimi. So those are
(15:58):
your two opportunities to watch a G League Finals game.
So congratulations to Osciola and the second part of that
forty two points for Mac McClung osciola playoff record.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
I mean, this guy's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
He said it after the game, is still yet uh
has I've still yet to lose in this league? Right,
He's already got a championship, he's got an MVP, he's
got a scoring title. And then Dylan Murphy made the
comment after the game, this guy is an NBA player,
and when he gets his opportunity, he is going to stick.
And I echo those sentiments Jake Chapman.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Yeah, I think, Look, all he can do is dominated
at that level, and that's all he's done, and so
I think I think the opportunity is coming. I feel
like we've been saying that now for a while. We
understand how hard it is to kind of get over
that hump, and so it is what it is. Look,
I think it would be another feather in his cap
if he can continue to top I'm not sure if
you can what he's done this season in his time
(16:51):
in Ostiola, and then certainly here in the G League playoffs.
D have you ever been to Stockton, California?
Speaker 4 (16:56):
I never have. I never have. That's and that's who
they'll play in the in the GLI finals.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Correct, Yes, the Stockton Kings with with Mason Jones, who
is said you have you know, I know stocked and
it doesn't sound like a very like a very appealing place.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
Period.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Well, we have the opportunity to go to the games
that are here in Kassimi, so we can do except
for the one tomorrow because the Magic play a big
one against Atlanta. But but right, I mean mac mclong
is going to get an opportunity somewhere, and hopefully it's
here with time winding down in the season, and uh, listen,
maybe there's big plans for him next year, who knows,
but still time remaining here in this season. And you
(17:32):
know what, and I'll call the game could have been
to Paul Porter as well. A couple of comments here
from Paul Porter. That's gonna be fun on Fan Appreciation Night.
Just a legendary career and uh in the opportunity to
to hear Paul and to celebrate him on Fan Appreciation Night, but.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Still more work to come, right that that iconic voice.
Speaker 2 (17:49):
As we close out the regular season, we're gonna have
a play in opportunity, We're gonna have playoff games, so
certainly a lot on the line, uh here down the stretch.
And again, we've got two tickets to Fan Appreciation Night,
the Magic and the Boston Celtics that we're gonna give
away at the end of the show. So let's circle
back on Ken Jake Curves here. Okay, I was getting nervous, Yeah,
and have one of these without without Jay Curves. So
we appreciate all of you guys uh tuning in here
(18:10):
so away giving away tickets there. But okay, so have
you have you pondered this question from Kevin Anton? What
are your thoughts on Kevin Anton? If you were to
clone one player, who would it be and and would
we be successful with said player?
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Okay, so if I legitimately answered the question, there's only
two answers. It's either five Polos or five Frondsa's I think,
but I would say five go Goas just because I would.
I would pay money to watch five Gogo buttadzes played basketball,
and I don't know if it would be very good.
I don't think that spacing would be much to speak of.
I don't know who's scoring on us. But we would
(18:44):
have the best personality. We'd be the most likeable team
in yeah, right, and we would bring the juice every
night every night. Georgian Beasts, I would that would be.
That's my answer.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
That's a good five Georgian beasts, that's who you would
so so wins losses how it were on the floor,
it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
If you just want the team that I'm putting on
the floor won five Georgian Beasts, Well, put it back
towards you guys.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I mean, who would you guys go with. I think
I'm with you. I think the answer is Polo war Fronz,
either of those. If you were able to have five
of those, I think you're in a pretty good situation.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
Uh so that's a good question.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
So I think you have ball handling ability, you have
scoring ability. Get into the free throw line with either
one of those, and and listen, we'll we'll take one Pollow,
one Fronz, and three others here down the stretch, because
that's what it's gonna take, Jacob.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
One of those others is Contavious Caldwell Pop. And I
was looking at it.
Speaker 2 (19:34):
Last year his last twenty two games of the season.
Last year with Denver, he shot forty four point seven
percent from three right, just came on, poured it on
as as they made their playoff.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Postion on into the postseason.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Right now for Kntavious Caldwell Pope, he scored ten points
in three straight since March first. Since the calendar flipped
to March, he's averaging ten points a game, fifty four
point five percent from the floor fifty percent from three
AC since March first is thirty one of sixty two
from three and of everyone in the NBA that has
(20:06):
made at least thirty threes during that time, he is
sixth in three point percentage. The guy that's first is
the guy we're going to see tomorrow and be crachy.
I mean, he has been absolutely lighting things up. He's
thirty of his last fifty three from beyond the arc.
But you're talking Mike Conley, Kevin Durant, Bogdan Bogdanovic. That's
the company the KCP is in, and we're talking a
good sample size. I mean, you're going back to March first,
(20:28):
it's about sixteen games that he's just been on fire.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
And all those other guys he named are offensive specialists, right,
I mean KCP, And we talked about this last week
a little bit. Not only has CACP delivered all season long,
showing up night in and night out, which was probably
our favorite thing about him, the guy just plays. There
is no hang now or I twisted my ankle. He's
out there every night that he's able to be, and
he's asked to do so much defensively, and then you
(20:54):
throw on top of that the Jalen injury, and he's
you know, picking up the best guard night in, night out,
and now the offense is starting to kick in a
little bit. His numbers are close to his career averages.
When all is said and done, he's a thirty six
point seven percent career three point shooter. He's up over
thirty four percent this year. Now that's not what he envisioned,
(21:14):
but I think the adjustment period was was nothing to
sneeze at. Learning to play with these guys, the injuries
that he's had to deal with, you know, finding his
rhythm and who he's been playing with night in, night out.
So I think it's it's a good lesson that you
can't write off a free agent signing or a player
like CACP who has done it, you know, going back
twelve seasons now at the same level. He's been so
(21:37):
consistent ye're in and year out, regardless of where he's been.
You kind of had a feeling that that water eventually
was going to find his level. And and what a
weapon coming down the stretch here obviously what he means
to the team defensively, and and and crawling into the ball,
and that pressure that we've seen kind of emerging over
the course of the last couple of weeks. But then
(21:57):
spacing the floor and letting pollow is not you know,
Apollo is not surging like he's surging right now offensively
without some spacers out there.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
Role Again, we got three or four minutes, so get
those questions in rapid fire because we're giving away a
pair of tickets. So the Magic and Celtics on Wednesday,
that game is seven o'clock fan appreciation night, and it
could be huge.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
That could be a game that goes a long.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Way towards clinching play your seventh seed here in the
Eastern Conference and listen, we hope everybody continues at the
end of the day. We need this one tomorrow against
the Atlanta Hawks. Jake real quick in about fifteen seconds.
Speaker 4 (22:30):
Who you got tonight?
Speaker 2 (22:31):
You've got the Florida Gators or the surprising Houston Cougar's.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Toe Houston in my original bracket, so why not? I
think it's going to be tough. Florida's playing so well
right now, but I'm going with the Kogs. I want
a comeback. The other night, I slept through this, honest,
but love Kelvin Sampson. I love that uzon when Milo
Uzan gets rolling. They're a completely different team. I love
their defensive approach, and so I'm gonna go with the Koogs.
(22:55):
But if Florida wins it, then certainly well deserved. They've
had a magical year.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
I'll be cheering for the Gators. I love Walter Clayton.
You know, I don't get these scouts. Everybody says you'll
be a second round pick.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
That guy's a lottery I'd take him first if it
was me over that old school thing was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
As if he's not gonna be able to get a
shot off in today's NBA, you can't breathe on people anymore.
He's gonna be fine. He's gonna get a shot off.
I really like Condon too, Alex Condon, Yes, yes, nice.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
They've got some size, They've got all the tools to
win a championship. And then you bring back a guy
next year that's eight feet nine inches, So I think
that's gonna be interesting too. If you can get him
to stay, if you can get him to stay right.
You tried to hide him at seven to nine and
in red shirt him this year. I don't know if
that's gonna work, but hopefully sign him at seven nine,
and hopefully you can bring like nobody knows, like nobody's
been offering that guy money.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
Oh year.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
We'll see how that plays, but hopefully he comes back.
Good luck to the Gator's gonna be a great game
either way. Congrat and for bow Outlaw. I certainly would
be happy if if the Houston Couper's won as well.
That'll do it for Magic Insiders. Congrats again to Kevin Anton,
have a great night. Everybody will be back again next
week right when we know our play in scenario. We'll
do this next week live stream and then hey, let's
(24:03):
get this win tomorrow against Atlanta six thirty ninety six nine.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
The game at six thirty on FanDuel Sports Network
