Speaker 4 (00:49):
Welcome in.

Speaker 3 (00:50):

Speaker 4 (00:57):
The stage is set.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Game number three of this best of seven series comes
your way in just about three and a half hours.
Right here on ninety six nine the game. I will
have the call. Brandon Kravitz will have the pregame show beginning.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
At six thirty.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Magic Celtics Game three got Fando Sports on the television
side as well, beginning at six thirty with my co
host for this year program, Dante Marctelli. He is channeling
his nervous energy driving around Central Florida right now. Are
you just how you feeling today, big fella?

Speaker 4 (01:27):
I am ready to go.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
I am fired up.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
I started thinking about you know, it was crushing to
get that second loss up there in Boston, but I
was driving around to shoot around this morning, thinking about
Game three last year in our building and a record,
a record, a franchise record setting win against the Cleveland
Cavaliers in Game three, and thinking, yeah, it doesn't have
to be that. You don't have to win this thing

(01:50):
by almost forty, but you gotta find a way. You
have to find a way to come back and make
this a series.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
And you can do that. You've been right there, Jake
and I started.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
You know how.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Hungry Magic fans were last year, right all the all
the t shirts that are going to be on the
seats tonight, all the rally towels, all the wristbands, you know,
the special introductions, everything that goes into to home playoff games.
There's nothing like it, which is why you want to
fight so hard to get home court to begin with
in the regular season, and we just were robbed of

(02:21):
that opportunity with all the injuries. But I know our
fans are going to be ready and I'm just absolutely
fired up thinking about what that's going to look like
here tonight, and we.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Do it big too. It's going to be a blast
everybody in. We'll have the fan fest, you'll be out there.
I know you've got a whole bunch of surprises planned,
and I know we have a whole bunch of surprises
planned for tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Just as far as personnel in the.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Buildings, so to speak, and the Celtics may have some surprises.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
That's a heck of a transition there.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
For as far as the injury report goes, because as
of last night, Drew Holliday showed up on the injury report.
Holliday listened as questionable tonight a right hamstring strain, and
then Jason Tatum still listed as doubtful that right distal.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Radius bone bruise that occurred in Game one.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Your boy, Brian Scalabrady said, kick the can down the
Road this morning. He's the television analyst uh and obviously
former Celtic, and he said on Serious XM this morning
he thinks it makes more sense for Tatum to sit
this one out so you may have another opportunity here tonight, Dante,
and to try to steal a win against the team
without their best player. Their one B is pretty good.

(03:26):
Jalen Brown is more than capable of carrying the scoring
load for a championship team. We saw that certainly in
the finals last year and then definitely in Game two
as well, Dante. If Drew Holliday didn't play it tonight
with a right hamstring strain, I might take that personally,
if I'm the fellas, it kind of feels like Boston's
thinking about Round two already and there's no added motivation

(03:49):
necessary right now.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
But at the very least it doesn't.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
It may feel a little bit like a like a
like a spit in the face if Caliday today.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
And you can take it way and in the postseason,
you've got to get any kind of motivation.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
But I do think that team's banged up.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
I do think we are We're roughing this team up,
and I do think they are thinking long term, so
I do.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Obviously, if this was Game seven in the.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
NBA Finals, Drew and jt would play, right, Yes, you'd
have Tatum and Drew Holiday out there. But the thought
is they want to get to the finals, and I
don't know, I don't think personally.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
That they're overlooking anybody.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
But you can certainly take that if you need a
little extra motivation, you can certainly look at it that way.
I think if you're the Celtics, it makes all the
sense in the world to not play Tatum until you
need to. And if you can continue to win games
without Jason Tatum and he can continue to get healthy,
then you're gonna take that. Now, if the Magic can
come out win game three, you will see everybody in

(04:44):
game four, there is no doubt in my mind, right,
so they're gonna sit him until they need to, would
be my opinion. But who knows, Maybe both of those
guys will play here tonight. You know, Drew Holiday wasn't
himself in game two. I think he was zero of
three from the floor, so that hamstring could very well
be acting up. And then you see it, obviously, the
five stitches to the forehead of Christaps Porzingis. We all
saw those black stitches when he did his postgame press

(05:06):
conference the other day.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
So, uh, you have that, then you have the I mean,
we're bagging them up. So but this is not what
you want. This is why Boston didn't want Orlando in
the first round in my opinion.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
And none of it's been dirty. It's all been aggressive.
This is how we play. We're a physical team. So
I think if you're Joe Mizula, this is exactly what
you wanted because it's going to get your team ready
for the playoffs and uh, you know, and if you're
the players, this is absolutely what you didn't want. But
none of that matters if you don't come out and
win tonight.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
It's it's interesting because it's almost a double layer of
consideration for Tatum, like maybe I could play tonight, but
do I want to play tonight forty minutes against that team?

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Right?

Speaker 5 (05:43):
Yeah, Well that's it too.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Certainly not help.

Speaker 6 (05:47):
A team that we know all year we've been just
been hammering people. We have, we've been physical, but we
file people. And if you've got a you've got a
player with a sore wrist, I mean, the magic would
never go out and do that intentionally, but we do
foul shooters a number of times throughout the course of
a game. So that's a that's a risk that they
might not want to want to take. And if they

(06:08):
that win in Game two for Boston bought them another
three or four days with Jason Tatum, in my opinion, do.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
You remember how Pat Williams may rest in Peace, used
to always love when he was doing his radio show,
the short open ended questions, right, keep you keep it
short and then let Jamal Mosley or whoever your interview
subject is sort of expound upon whatever it is you
brought up.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
I asked Coach mostly today.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I said, this is admittedly a very loaded question. Are
you happy with your team's physicality through the first two
games of the season of the series, And he said, yeah, absolutely.
I mean the free throw disparity and you know, the
one flagran a game. He said, that's the way we've
played all season long. That's our in our DNA, and yeah,
I've been I've been very pleased. So he's not concerned
about about marches to the free throw line or going

(06:52):
overboard in Coach Moseley's mind, and I think in your
my mind as well, obviously you have to be careful
with it. But but you're bringing the physicality that you
need to bring against this team.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Free throw attempts to be darned.

Speaker 6 (07:04):
Well, that's right, and and that that's the way that
the Magic have played all year. And sometimes they've had
games where it's jumped up and bid them and we've
seen that where.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Team gets to the free throw line way too many times.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
Or you put the problem is you you know, you're
you having situations where you're putting bone, You're putting Boston
into the bonus four minutes into a quarter, yes, and
that's a killer. You know, you don't want to give
them any extra ammo. And they're good enough to take
advantage of it. So but you can't tell them not
to play this way. This is how they know to play.
And our advantage is our physicality and if you take

(07:35):
that away from us or ask us to reel that in,
I think we're a different team. So and the playoffs
are conducive to physical play and and and they're even
with all the foules that aren't called, there's a lot
that aren't, you know, so you're kind of playing those
percentages as well. But like We've said, Jake, it's all
come down to put in the basket, you know, putting
the ball in the basket.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
And that's what this team has struggle to do here
in this season. So I love that.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
I love the physicality. I love that they don't shy away.
I don't want anyone to get hurt. But listen, our
guys are banged up too. We're getting hit also. We've
got guys that are sore and banged up. Just it's
just the nature of an eighty two game season and
then going into the playoffs. So the physicality will absolutely
be there tonight. They're going to be fired up behind
your home crowd. I think you have a little extra juice.

(08:18):
We just got to find a way to get those
others going, don't we. And one last thing you mentioned
Pat Williams. Yes, he was the king of brevity with
uh with his open ended questions. And he would also,
you know, he'd interview somebody who wrote a book, and
I mean he.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Took it to the extreme.

Speaker 6 (08:31):
Chapter three, George Washington, tell me about it.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
He was the king of brevity, no question.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
About oh Man.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
And he'd be reading another book while he's interviewing somebody
about one book.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
He was the absolute best, no question.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
About absolutely missed that.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Man.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I wanted to ask you about Cole Anthony. It was
one takeaway from from Shooter on today as Coach Moses
said that he met with Cole yesterday. You know, he
met in his office and they were going over film
and I think trying to get Cole's mind right and
probably reassuring.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Him that he is going to have a role in
this series.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
And it's been what the third or fourth time this
season the coach post he's probably had to have conversations
like that with Cole. It's been such an up and
down emotional rollercoaster for Cole. Did you read anything into
Jamal mentioning that, because it's said to me that he's
still envisions a role for Coal in this series and
it could be as early as tonight.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
Well, and I could see a way where you want
to try to get him going early.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
Cole is a guy that feeds off the crowd. You
can come in feel comfortable in this building.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
I mean, that's the perfect guy to trot out early
and maybe get some early minutes and see if he's
got it, you know, see I see if he can
see if he can get you ignited on the offensive end.
I think that's a perfect opportunity. I think another thing
that you might see.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
And I don't know. I don't have any any knowledge
of this or not.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
But you know, you could tell we played eleven guys
in Game two and the Celtics played eight and that
was without Tatum, and you can tell again it's been
a search all season trying to find guys that have it.
And you'll applaud coach Mosley for that because if you're
any if you're any player on that roster, any night,
literally any night, you could get your number called. And
that's been awesome and that's kept everybody ready. But I

(10:10):
do think you have to think about maybe who are
the eight or nine at most guys that you're gonna
play and try to figure out how to divvy up
those minutes.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
So again I don't know that.

Speaker 6 (10:19):
And if he decides to play eleven guys, and that's
great too because he feels that's the way you have
to go, but I could see if there are any adjustments,
you know, you might think about that guys at home,
role players feeding off the crowd might get an opportunity
to play a few more minutes.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
Six minutes for Jonathan Isaac in the last game.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
You know, maybe that needs to be eighteen or nineteen,
feeding off the crowd. Maybe maybe Caleb Houston is a
guy that's out. Maybe you give more minutes to Gary Harris,
who's been fantastic defensively.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
So things like that.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
I'm not saying any of that will happen, but those
are all the things you have to look at. You
don't have to look at anything when you're Boston and
you're up to oh but when you're down oh two,
you have to figure out how to maximize the guys
that you put in the rotation.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
Yeah, and you might be able to save a little
bit of this spring and the late game juice in
the legs of like a KCP for instance, if you
up Gary's minutes Coles and maybe you know, case of
people at thirty five minutes, I think he's probably going
to be right around that mark. But you get that
down by thirty one thirty two, and we're talking about
at the end of a forty eight minute game. That
could make an absolutely huge difference when we.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
Come back, Like Jake, don't JOOI We'll save this for
the other end, because I got a question for you
coming back.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Good?

Speaker 3 (11:24):
When we come back, Downtemortelly, tease me up as we

Speaker 3 (12:46):
My call of the game is, Dante, you told me
you had something to ask fire away.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
All right? I like that. Don't you put yourself back
a year ago today? Right? So a year ago today
is win. The Magic won Game three against Cleveland, and.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
They did so in fashion, right, So put yourself to
a year ago today. Two hard fought games against Cleveland,
but really not close, I mean really not close. Cleveland
won those going away. Donovan Mitchell was otherworlding. We had
no answers for him, and they really were doing a
great job defensively. With Evan Mobley on Franz Bogner, and
there was a feeling of desperation right coming in. You
knew the crowd was gonna be behind you, an electric

(13:20):
and I don't think we envisioned how rabbit that fan
base was gonna be in game three. Don't you feel
like we're gonna do the same thing here tonight. Don't
you feel like this unbelievable Orlando Magic fan base is
going to help lead us to a victory in Game three?

Speaker 5 (13:36):
I do.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
I know that place is going to be absolutely electric tonight.
You're right, that game you're referring to was one twenty
one to eighty three in absolute smacking. Last year certainly
came out of nowhere. I think probably if I could
think back to exactly where my mindset was a year
ago heading into Game three, it.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Probably would have been defeated. It probably would have been
a little.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Bit negative about the entire experience and thinking that we.

Speaker 5 (13:59):
Need to think.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
But don't you feel we were closer in these two
games than we were in those two games? You came
away saying for seven games, no matter how long the
series goes, we're not gonna stop Donovan Mitchell. We just
have nothing for him and yes, you could say the
same thing about Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, but I
don't feel that way like I did about Donovan Mitchell.
I think they'll find a way to do that. It
doesn't feel as dire this Maybe it should, and maybe

(14:23):
I'm delusional, but it doesn't feel as dire today as
it did a year ago.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Today.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
I think last year's series felt a little bit more winnable,
obviously the four or five, but look, everything was so
new for us, and so you came out of those
first two games will to score eighty three and eighty
six points or something like that. In games one to
two last year, you just didn't think you had You
knew Donovan Mitchell was the best player on the flour.
You didn't think you had the firepower to hang with
those guys. And certainly games three and four were rude awakening.

(14:50):
And then again we talked about this the other day.
Game five, I mean that we were right there. We
had a Franz Vondner runner that Evan Mobiley made an
incredible play, and you lose that game in Cleveland by one,
come back and smack them around in game six real quick.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
This is sort of interesting.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
I asked coach Mosley about the difference in trying to
do the quick installs right, you got thirty six hours
to make all the adjustments you want to make the
chess match, so to speak. And how this year differed
compared to last year just because you had last year's
experience under your belt. Are they processing things quicker? Is
it easier to make changes in tweaks? And he said
it's He said, it's entirely different because the Cavs were

(15:26):
sort of, you know, there were sort of an orthodox
system and an orthodox team. He understood, jam Bickerstaff. He said,
there's a lot more going into anticipating what Joe Mizzula
is trying to do and and sort of you know,
pre anticipating those things in tendencies and matchup hunting and
all that stuff. He said, it's just a different animal

(15:46):
with this Boston team. Part of that, I think is
because they're so good and the personnel is so much
more experience. But I think that speaks to Joe Mizula.
This dude's like a mad genius toy. And he and
Jamal Moseley going back and forth has been has been
a really interesting subplot.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
In a great chess match and then will continue to be.
And that's why I think I will have her.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
Hand tonight because I think coach Mosley will make the
requisite adjustments and I think guys will make sense. I
think that's all going to come together being fueled by
the crowd here tonight, and or at least I you know,
we certainly hope so, and hope that's the case.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
And you wonder if Cleveland.

Speaker 6 (16:23):
This year is kind of more to what Joe Mizzoula
is doing with the Celtics, right because they've opened everything
up in Cleveland and they rely on the three ball
kind of like these Celtics do. You know when you're
Boston and you're the defending champs and you have two
guys that you can put the ball in their hands
and almost every time they can go get your bucket
and Tatum and Brown it's how they won it last year.

(16:44):
And then if those guys are off, or if you
double either one of them, then you've got guys like
Derek White, Frist stops for Zingis. I mean, you've got
all stars. You have Drew Holliday is an all Star.
You've got a team full of all stars, and then
you've got others that are now feeling themselves, right, Peyton
Fritchard the sixth minute the year, so he's been validated
for all the hard work that he put in. So
there they are just brimming with confidence. The only thing

(17:05):
that was missing for al Horford was a title.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
He's got it.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
So that guy's about as loose, playing as free as
you can. And that guy's been a star ward as well.
So they've got so many weapons that they can throw
at you, even though they only go eight deep.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
That's what you're up against.

Speaker 6 (17:19):
That's what Boston is right now, Jake, is what we
want to be in a year or two, right, We
want to be at that level and we need help.
We you know, guy's got to make shout out. You've
got to make some changes to the roster in order
to do that. But this Celtics team is what we envision.
We can be here in a very short amount of time.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Quickly before we go.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
A couple of low key keys for tonight, Dante, you
know how many foules Chris snaps Perzingis has committed through
two games, playing what thirty four minutes tonight, Well.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
He only had one in the last game, So how
many had three. I'm gonna say three files two two.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
We had one game one and one in game two.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
That just says to me that we're not challenging him enough, right,
I mean, I agree, we got it doesn't matter necessarily
about getting him in foul troup, but we need to
force that issue a little bit more. The paint points
you did step up from game one to game two,
so I think that I think there is a lot
more to like with the way you were able to
attack in game.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Two, and you certainly need to continue that.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
We mentioned Anthony Black and the difference in young role
players on the road and at home, and you talk
about improvement from game one to two. T like a
deer in headlights in game one and he looked like
he you know, he knew he belonged. In game two,
eleven points, twenty three minutes for rebounds. Here's another call
of the game. I think ab is going to be
a difference maker tonight. I think he is going to

(18:36):
play half the twenty six thirty minutes tonight.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
And I'm thinking one of these fifteen six.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
And six type games from Anthony Black, one of those
one of those reliable role player getting downhill being aggressive
type games from ab six man type game from Anthony
Black tonight.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
What do you think about that?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Well, I think that's a crush. I would absolutely take that.
I mean, that's what it's going to take to get
this game. He's gonna need to be a difference maker
like that, and he's certainly got that in him. And
you know, it's interesting that stat Paolo Bancaro thirty points,
five rebounds, five assists, no turnovers. He's now done it
twice in his postseason career. There's a handful of players
that have done it four times, and then it goes
down to Polo, you know.

Speaker 5 (19:15):
So he's fifth most in NBA history since nineteen eighty two.

Speaker 6 (19:18):
So he's a guy that's putting up crazy stat lines
as well. But Anthony Black needs to contribute. If Goga
gets the call, combined with Wendell, that Goga Wendell combination.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
I think needs to be huge.

Speaker 6 (19:29):
I think it needs to be absolutely huge here tonight,
because you know what you said with Porzingis and Morford
and the bigs that they have need to our bigs
need to be felt when they're out there. So I
think that's gonna be critical as well. So I think
you've got a number of things that you have to
keep your eyes on in regards to that. But I
think these guys are gonna come.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Out and be ready to go. I think they're gonna
be fired up.

Speaker 6 (19:51):
And my guy that I think you're going to see
tonight is Contavious Caldwell Pope.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
He was one for nine in the last game.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
It was one of the worst, one of the worst attemption,
one of the worst shooting games he's had in his
postseason history, fourth worst field goal percentage in playoff history
for him.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
He did have an all for.

Speaker 6 (20:12):
Nine game as a Laker against Portland. He bounced back
the next game with sixteen points helped the Lakers win
that game. So I think it's gonna be a big
bounce back game for KCP. I think he's gonna bring
it defensively. I think he's gonna ignite the crowd, and
I think he's gonna have a double figure scoring game.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
He was upbeat and spoke to the media this morning
at shoot around and ready to go, so certainly, and
I think he will be impressed and certainly feel the
energy of a postseason Kia Center crowd has been great
all season long. Now it's time to ratchet up the
energy a little bit. They need to hear and feel
you tonight, Magic fans, and we hopefully we'll talk to

(20:48):
you on Monday with a too even series The Magic Tonight,
and then again on Sunday at seven o'clock pre games
at six point thirty on the television and radio sides
as well.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Left to be said.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
It's Game three tonight. You gotta get this one otherwise
you are facing insurmountable odds. No team has ever come
back down three to zero in NBA history in a
best of seven series. Only four times has a team
even forced to Game seven, and all four of those
teams have lost. So get this one tonight and then
we'll talk Magic. Celtics Game three tonight, Game four on Sunday,

(21:21):
and we will talk to you on Monday.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
Right here, ninety six to nine, the game Go Magic
