Speaker 1 (00:14):
All right, Sabrina, I have a question for you. Who
was your first ever memory of a boy band? Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
That's an easy, easy one. Well, actually maybe not as easy.
I knew kids on the block for sure was my
first boy band. And then a bigger memory, though, one
that pops out faster, is my first concert was an

(00:45):
instinct concert okay at the Honda Center, And it was
kind of it was like kind of one of my
first like dates too, that was in high school. It
was like a freshman in high school, and I went
with another couple and then this guy that I was
seeing when we went and saw in Sync because his
his like dad had some kind of in on getting

(01:07):
tickets of.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Something which one of the members of n SYNC most
reminded you of your date if you had to, if
you had to put an n SYNC member on your date,
which one were you dating?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Oh? The guy of the guy I.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Was actually, yeah, the guy you were actually with, if
you had to assign him an n sinker who.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Like a skater snowboarder kind of guy, not a dancer,
not a.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Okay, well then who would be a skater snowboarder? They
didn't really have one of those, and they didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
They didn't have like a like a you know, super
I don't want to say not athletic, but I'm just
saying like they didn't have anyone that was like that.
They were just kind of I don't know, but I
loved in Sync and that was like I was like,
oh my god, this is how concerts are. I want
to go to concerts like all the time because they
was so good. Still, you know, I always tell Joey Fatone,

(01:55):
you know, I know that there wasn't like you didn't
have to choose a side, but kind of had to
choose a side between them and Backstreet Boys.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
You just really okay.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
I just feel like that's just how everyone felt at
the time.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
I have to say, love both of them. I knew,
I knew no most of the members of encinc pretty well.
You know, Danielle dated Lance, so they were on the
second time. But I've never seen an en Sync concert.
I was supposed to go one time and I didn't
get it. Didn't go. But I just saw Backstreet Boys
at the Sphere, and that's that's gonna be tough to beat.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
Well, that's all goes to the Sphere. That's kind of
a hard situation because I heard the Sphere is just
it's incredible.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
I've seen two shows right now. It's the most incredible
venue in the world. I'm saying that ends down. And again,
this is somebody who I've been to some I mean,
I've been to Royal Albert Hall in London. I've been
to some pretty great places. Yeah, Sphere is pretty magical.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah, what about you? Is it?

Speaker 1 (02:58):
It would depend on the boy band because it again,
I guess technically they're not considered a boy band. But
when I was a little kid, like a little little kid,
I found the Monkeys. Oh, and so they were a
put together group. But I loved the television show, and
so I guess if I guess they're not technically a
boy band, and people are gonna be like the Monkeys

(03:19):
are a boy band because they weren't. They played their
own instruments and all that stuff. But I would say,
I guess technically that kind of put together a musical
act the first The first one would be the Monkeys
for me.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Yeah, I think it's fair to say. I mean, yes,
they're more I guess a band. But the definition of
a boy band, I feel like, has always kind of
been blurred. You know what I mean. It's I don't
think that they have to dance.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Right as our group today a boy band.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
I would consider them a boy band.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Yeah, I don't know if I would. I don't. This
is where you don't know where it's like, are they
are they just a band? Right? To me? A boy band,
I'll be honest. To me, A boy band is four
or five guys, cute looking guys that can sing and dance.
That's like the boy band.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Okay, so the dance aspect is big.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
But I also heard that and I've never please don't
come at me. And I could be wrong about this
because I know they have they have fans around the world.
But I heard like One Direction didn't really dance, right,
Am I wrong?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
And I would never in my life not think that
they're a boy band. I don't know. I never saw right.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Okay, they were getting from everybody. They did not dance
at all, okay, and they're definitely a boy band.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
But did they play instruments because is it the instruments
and the dancing that kind of makes the division?

Speaker 1 (04:37):
I don't know, because I would say they were also
put together on that X factor and they did not
play instruments. So they're a boy band.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
That's so they literally just had mics and just sang yes, yeah,
like ninety eight degrees.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Ninety eight degrees. Didn't dance. How did they get so hot?

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Really? Not really.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
If they dance, they'd be one hundred and two degrees, Yeah,
very much. Oh, they just hurt from the Okay, we
won't even say that out there in case somebody from
ninety eight degrees.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Ninety eight degrees. They didn't consider themselves dancers either though,
because I remember Drew Lache I was on the season
a couple of seasons on Dancing with Stars after him,
we went on tour together and him dancing for whatever reason.
I remember meeting him and like he was so nervous
about it. He never felt like super super hard singer. Yeah,

(05:23):
And I was like what And he's like, I'm like,
you're in a boy band. And I remember him saying,
but we don't really dance.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
That's what you put color me bad in this in
this situation? Do you remember color Me Bad?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
What's a song they sing?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I don't know. I didn't really actually hear a color
be Bad song, but I remember Colory Bad.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Was like, were they I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
I want to sex you up. Oh ah, want to
sex you up?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Ye see that. It don't stop.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It. That's color me bad.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Okay. So that's that's a different sector too, because now
we're kind of going out of the pop world and
we're going into that business world. I guess I considered
we're R and B.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Like BR and B is boiced men, which I.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
And those are considered. I would say boy bands, right, no, no, no,
And I'm sure they're all great guys, right, I'm sure
they are just fine people. But Otown was just like,
oh but you're not in sync, Like it wasn't even

(06:38):
like Backstreet Boys was still they were good. I just wasn't.
I wasn't in syncer right like I was team in zync.
I was still good, but Otown was just kind of
it got cheesier, the hair got crazier, the outfits got dumber,
like it just all kind of just was to me,
not not where the bar was in sync and they

(07:00):
didn't hit.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Okay. I would suggest you get deep into a German
boy rap group called Fetis Brot that's going to change
your life. Literally means fresh bread. Check them out, Dawson.
I'm being totally Si the Dawson is one of the
best songs you're ever gonna hear. By the way, we're
gonna get two emails from people going like, I can't
believe you just mentioned Fetis.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Brot so of them.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Yeah, two people are going to know who it is. Anyway,
it's a good segue. I don't know how we're going
to segue from German pop bands, but we are welcome
back to Magical Rewind, the show that makes you want
to grab your friends, your pjs and your popcorn and
go back to a time when all the houses are smart,
the waves, tsunamis and the high School's musical. I'm Wilford
Dell and I'm Sabrina Bryan. Oh, Sabrina. This is not

(07:42):
a drill, folks, This is not a drill. We are
sliding down the chimney and tackling Disney's massive twenty twenty five.
Yes this year, people, twenty twenty five entry into the
holiday season. It's a very Jonas Christmas. Yup, we are
back with Kevin, Joe and Nick. Took me half the
movie to figure out who was who, making their glorious
return to the Channel with a musical comedy release for

(08:03):
Disney Plus and Hulu on November fourteenth of this year,
And most impressively, it has the tagline let it bro
Let it brow Let it bro That alone, I'm going
to score it a ten. I didn't even have to
watch the movie. Unbelievable. This was filmed in Toronto. Was
none of it filmed in Amsterdam? Because I did it

(08:25):
in Amsterdam and it really looked like Amsterdam. Well you
know this. The work that the location scout did was
the same location scout that did the Color Me Bad,
I Want to Sex You Up video?

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Got it?

Speaker 1 (08:35):
So a lot of people don't know that. No, yes,
it was filmed in Toronto. The movie title was first
announced alongside its teaser trailer debut at Jonas Khan. That's
a real thing. It's a real fan convention for the
Jonahs brothers. You know you've made it when it's just
your name and con So when there's Will Khn we'll talk.
This year celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the group, and

(08:56):
this movie is stacked with great guest stars to prove it.
It is a self deprecating take on the band in
what is basically a revamp of Planes Trains and Automobiles,
a classic eighties thanks Giving movies starring John Candy and
Steve Martin. Sabrina, don't hurt my feelings right now, and
please tell me you have you not seen Plane Trains
and Automobiles? Oh my god, I.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Know, Please don't quit. Will just stick with me and
enlighten me, will come back. I'm sorry, I don't even know.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
I don't even know what to say to you. Plane
Strains and Anomobiles is one of the great You were
to watch this movie to day. There cannot be one
more day of your life that goes by without watching
Plane Trains and Aumobiles, one of the greatest comedies.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Like I was born in eighty four, so if this
is a big movie in the eighties, at what point
in my life, Like.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
How about the last thirty something years? It's like you're saying,
you've never seen a movie that's taken place before nineteen
eighty four? Are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Okay, all right, you're right?

Speaker 1 (10:04):
And God, I wish I could talk it right to
your face, Jordan, because I would tell him to sit
you down, and what I guarantee.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
You say anymore because you've met him.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
I know I have and he's great. You've seen I do.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Love both of those actors, so I feel like you
can't go wrong with it.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
It's just it hurt my heart. Okay, sorry, go see
it anyway. Uh. Now we get all of this in
the vein of a classic boy band and musical comedians
from the past, like the Monkeys of the Beatles, rich
are ye all talking about? And it's all very very cute. Now.
I know we went over this in the past, especially
when we saw the Jonas trio and their first d
com Camp Rock. But were you not only a friend

(10:39):
of these guys? Were you a fan of the Jonahs?
But were you friends with them first? And then fans
or fans and then friends? How did that work?

Speaker 2 (10:45):
Friends then fans? So they came and they were at
our very first tour we did for our Christmas album.
They were are opening opening act. So they came on,
and Ali and AJ came on, and then we came on. Wow,
they were still driving around in their twelve passenger van

(11:07):
that is like now so well known.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
And talk that they talk about.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And they were still driving around in that at the
time and doing another gig. They'd cut a lot of times,
would open for us drive somewhere else and go do
a gig somewhere else and then you know, hop back
into the tour line and so or just meet us
at the next city or whatever. Loved them. They were
so sweet, such hard workers, so ambitious, and you could

(11:36):
just tell how talented they were. And especially with Nick,
He's the one if you remember, I'll give you just
because I know you.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
I remember. I got him now, trust me.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
This one, especially with him sitting and talking to him
like he was like at such a young age, like
writing playwrights and working on music and writing and just
he had like his just worked like in that magical way.
And then obviously hearing them warm up, hearing them do
their show every night. All their songs were so catchy,

(12:10):
they were so good. I loved sneaking out into the
audience and watching them on stage because even at that
young of an age, they were just rock stars. They
were just like little yeah, I mean they and they
were younger than us, so sorry to like, I mean, uh,
Kevin is is close to my age, if not the
same age as me. But you know, it was like

(12:31):
they were still so young and they were like rockers
out there. You know, they were younger backstage and then
get out on the stage and just that whole thing,
just the vibe just hit.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Okay, do we do we have? Now? I'm gonna accept
this from all our producers as well. So I'm going
to need the producers to to uhi, chime in. Do
we have a consensus on which one is the cutest?
Who's the cutest? Jonas brother? Can we can we please
get those those answers right now? Who do we have? Joe?

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Joe? I I've always thought Nick was just so cute?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Oh we got two Joe's. We got Nick so far? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Nick, I feel like that's a lot. I mean, Joe
is obviously very very good looking, but I like he's
the middle. So Kevin's the oldest, Joe was the middle,
and then Nick was the youngest, and Nicky.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
As the youngest, is the one who's who's somehow broken
the mold and is the most responsible because the youngest,
which is what I am, is never the most sure.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
No, we're wild we're wild card.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Yeah I know exactly. Okay, well so there is no but.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
I'm telling you that does it if that, if this
movie storyline goes along with how their personalities really are, which.

Speaker 1 (13:40):
I think it I think it does.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
I think it does. You could tell that from Nick
at a very young age. I'm talking like, at this tour,
you would just go God, that kid is just go talented.
He's got it together. He knows where he wants to do,
where he wants to go, and damn it, I swear
to God, he's gonna make it'st well. Here we are
twenty years later, same time, about.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
Fifteen years since Camp Rock and the TV show Jonas
was on a channel back in two thousand and nine,
so it was a welcome return to Disney for some
homegrown talent. We also got the full Disney treatment with
tons of marketing dollars and some presents at the theme parks.
There are photo op setups in California Adventure and a
roaming DJ sleigh playing music from the movie. And obviously

(14:22):
you don't pay for the Jonas Brothers without getting some
new music, so a soundtrack was released with the movie,
featuring all new Christmas songs like coming Home This Christmas
featuring Kenny g who will get into him. He just
looks like a Harry Potter character. A live version he
does right now is like this is professor marketon it
was Like WHOA, a live version of Like Its Christmas

(14:42):
and Best Night. It was released on streaming services and
a special green vinyl that's an album of kids. But
it's not their first dive into the holiday. They had
a twenty twenty hit with I Need You Christmas, which
is on a loop at my house. Never actually heard
that song.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yes, I've never heard that. I don't think Yes.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
The movie is of course streamable right now in Disney
Plus Slash Hulu, and we encourage you to watch it
under the Missiletoe. Then you can kiss whichever Jonas you want.
It's a real life hack for kissing. People watch a
movie before or after listening to the podcast. That's not
a problem, but the kissing do that after the podcast.
We don't want to share you with anyone. You're ours,
not anyone, no one else. Is now the best news

(15:24):
for the Jonas brothers. The reviews have been good. People
love the inside jokes and the banging music, even if
the plot isn't necessarily an original one. But nobody cared
Sabrina personally. I think it would be difficult to avoid
the existence of this movie, considering its advertising presence and
just overall dominance on Disney Plus. But were you planning
on watching a very Jonas Christmas even if it wasn't
required as part of your job description.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
I actually was.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
I was.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I was interested to see how they were going to
do it.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
I have a.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Feeling, especially now watching it, I think this probably played
into a lot of into them getting Camp Rock three,
like I feel, and I'll get at it. I'll get
into that later of that, towards our wrap up. But
I was interested to see how they were going to
do it, what what their storyline was going to be,

(16:14):
and and how they were going to handle a musical
element of it, because it was like, sure, how are
they going to do that? So I was, I was.
I was interested in seeing it. However, all the advertisement
stuff they said at Disney, we were just there. I
didn't see anything.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
But because my guess is it was before it was streamable,
I mean they probably you know they I.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Didn't see any of that, but I'm sure snag a pick.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
So for everybody, it is time to meet Santa at
a bar and let him almost ruin your entire holiday season. Yes,
it's time for the synopsis. Did Jonas brothers discover their
plans for a Whyatt family celebration are completely upended by
surprise guests, old rivalries, and unbelievable journey is caused by
Santa himself and with that, Sabrina early thoughts, What did

(17:11):
you think of a very Jonas Christmas?

Speaker 2 (17:14):
I liked this very much. I just I was smiling
so much of the time. I love their banter. I
love that they, you know, their banter as brothers, their
banter into into just like some of the corniness. They

(17:35):
leaned into some stuff. And I wasn't sure after talking
with one of our producers that had gotten to see
it earlier, you know, she wasn't like it's the best movie,
you know, she was kind of like, it's it's good.
It's good, and so I was kind of not sure.
I liked it far more than she sold it. I'll
just say that, Okay, great and you will and for

(17:58):
you you, I really enjoyed this.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
No, I really enjoyed it. I really enjoy it. There
were parts of this movie that were piss yourself funny. Yes,
this I liked how they leaned into the fact that
they were all famous. You know, there's a great conversation
she has with him at one point where she's like,
am I supposed to walk here and pretend that I
don't know everything that's going on in your personal life?
Like things like that I thought were very clever. The

(18:25):
relationship between the three of them was great for the
first so Joe is the one in the middle. Yes,
for the first maybe ten minutes of the movie, ten
to twelve minutes of the movie, he mumbled every single
one of his lines, and so I had to go
back and put on the subtitles because he was mumbling
his lines. It got better, but he was very Joe

(18:49):
is clearly the best actor of the three of them.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
I think so too.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
The chemistry they have is great. The premise for what
it is is you know, is very basic, but man
it worked. They leaned into making fun of themselves and
each other, which I'm always a big fan of. So
I fully enjoyed this movie. I really did. Some of
the music wasn't my favorite, but again I don't like musicals.
I like how they kind of made fun of the
musical at some point. Yeah, but I can't and this

(19:16):
is just the way my mind works. For some reason,
I can't remember a single song. But that's not that's
more on me than anything else. I still really enjoyed
the movie, but I can't. I honestly could not hum
a single song right now if I am and I
watched it last night, But either way, I did enjoy
the movie. This was directed by Jessica Ugh. Jessica is

(19:37):
a very established TV director with episodes of Er, I'm Kidding,
It's Er, The West Wing, Gray's Anatomy, Billions, Thirteen Reasons Why,
and Only Murders in the Building. She also directed the
twenty seventeen Marris Bamford comedy special Old Baby and clearly
the movie stars well the Jonas brothers, Kevin, Joe, and
Nick as themselves. Ironically, Joe plays Kevin, Kevin plays Joe

(20:00):
oh and Nick plays someone named Steve. I'm kidding it's
Kevin Jo Nick. We've seen them before in Camp Rock,
but a reminder. They are a family band who was
catapulted into fame through the Disney machine. They would go
on to sell millions of records as a group and
have also dabbled, of course, in solo careers. But it's
Nick who's had the most success acting. He was in
movies like Jumanji Welcome to the Jungle, which I still
say was the best movie of that year and Midway

(20:23):
and on TV shows like Scream, Queen s Hawaii five
Oh and SNL which he hosted. And we know that
Jonas Trio will be back on the channel. Yes they
will with a new DCM that's Camp Rock three. This
time aliens come down destroy the camp and they're fighting
for survival as they're living off the dead corpses of
their fellow campers. I'm kidding. We don't know what it's
about yet, but my guess is going to be about

(20:43):
singing and dancing at a camp. But we're very excited
about it. We've also got Chloe Bennett as Lucy. Chloe
is best known as Daisy Sky Johnson from Agents of
Shield as well as the TV show Dave. Now we've
got Randall Park a familiar face as Brad. Randall was
the lead on the ABC TV show Fresh off the
Boat and played Jimmy Wu in Wanda Vision. But he's
been in a ton of things including the movie Always

(21:03):
Be My Maybe, and he played President Kim John Oun
in the Interview. And then Billy Lord is Cassidy. Billy
is part of the Ryan Murphy universe in American horror Story,
and she appeared in movies like Book Smart and The
Last Show Girl. She is the daughter of the late
Carrie Fisher aka Princess Leah, and she appeared in the
most recent Star Wars movie after the death of her mom.
Then We've got Laverne Cox. She's Stacy Cox. First appeared

(21:26):
on TV as a contestant on the VH one reality
show I Want to Work for Diddy, which might just
be the worst age TV show in the history of
TV shows. But she went on to become the first
transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy in an
acting category for her role in Orange Is the New Black.
Then she won a Daytime Emmy as a producer, making
her the first trans woman to win the award. She's
been on TV shows like Doubt, Law and Order, SVOO,

(21:48):
That's sv You, and Kirby Your Enthusiasm and is a
real pioneer, including the fact that she was the first
transgender person on the cover of Time magazine. Damn. And
there are a ton of cameos in this movie, including
Andrew bart Feldman as Ethan. Feldman was a standout from
the Jennifer Lawrence movie No Hard Feelings, which I have
not seen, but I hear is phenomenal, and he had
one or two scenes of this movie and just stole it.

(22:12):
And on the Disney side of things, he appeared in
High School Musical, The Musical the series, and was the
voice of Dopey in the recent live action Snow White movie,
which everyone loved and came out right after they shot it.
And we've got Will Ferrell, who people constantly think is me.
It's pretty awful. When you were Wilfred Ell and you
were like building up your fame at eleven, then some

(22:32):
guy named Will Ferrell comes along and is really funny.
What a jerk. I'm kidding. He's one of my favorites
of all time. He's gonna kick off this movie and
that was a fun one. I have to assume he
has been a friend of the Jonas brothers for quite
a while. And I'm excited to debut a new feature
we have here on Magical Rewind. I've been looking forward
to this. It's called is Malachi Barton in It? This

(22:54):
is where we see if modern day Disney wonder Kid
Malachi Barton is in the dcom we're recapping. We've seen
him in to Raps and zombies for so far. So
let's check to see if Malachi is in A Very
Jonas Christmas. He's not okay by good new feature though,
and we'll do this every time. So did Malachi dodge bullet? Well,
let's find out by the runtime. A Very Jonas Christmas is.

(23:16):
Oh God, i just feel Santa E and eggnog, and
I'm holding it on my yes because it's eighty minutes. Wow.
Ten minutes off the target, but on the right side
of history for sure, so I can't be mad. I've
taken longer showers in this movie, but hey, I'll take it.
Great job, gang. This movie is written by the duo
of Isaac Apteker and Elizabeth Berger. They are best known
as the writers of Greg Burlante's Love God. There's so

(23:38):
many names here, my God, writers of Greg Borlante's Love
Simon movie and would go on to show run and
EP the resulting Who Lou TV show Love Victor, and
they are TV vets with credits on This is Us
About a Boy and How I Met Your Father. I've
also been told they are Big Boy Meets World fans.
That is not confirmed in any way, shape or form,
but let's just go with it. I assume everybody is,

(24:00):
and so let's pretend it's Christmas and remember when we
feel something, because there's no need to be home alone.
We're coming home for Christmas. Sucker. Let's recap a very
Jonas Christmas. We open on London, at least we thought so.
Now it just appears to beat Toronto with the most
wonderful time of the year playing. We see the establishing
shots we always see when a movie set in England,

(24:21):
but now it includes Christmas trees and cgi'ed Jonas brother
ads plastered onto double decker buses. It's barely time for
the group's UK stop in the world tour, and we
get Will Ferrell playing himself getting ready for their show
in his posh hotel room. He is a Jonas Brothers
super super fan who flew all the way to London
with his family played by his wife and real sons Magnus,
Mattias and Axel, but he cares very little about his

(24:44):
real family because tonight is all about the Jonases. This
is his super Bowl and Nick, Joe and Kevin are
his three Kings. It's a very funny way to start
the movie.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (24:52):
And then we're thrown into the concert. Now, this was
my first weird kind of moment. It seemed like a
very small venue.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
That's one of my first that's literally my top Sabrina
sees is what is this venue and why does it
not in any ways show the stadium tour that the
girl the boys would be out on.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Why are they not in the two arena?

Speaker 2 (25:14):
I mean this was like like at the wiltered like
it's like so small compared to the size of like
arenas or where, I mean anywhere that they'd actually.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Thought that too. I was like, wow, this is a
very small venue, and I figured they they do sell
out arenas, I would imagine.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
So yeah, I mean these guys are going around just
dominating the touring with arena after arena after arena. Their
sales are through the charts.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah. Yeah, So I that was weird to me. They
it was.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I thought the same thing, like, I mean, I get it,
because you know, it's.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Quite easier to shoot. Yeah, it's probably also just easy
to shoot. I see why for on camera, but I
would have maybe done it in a smaller place like that,
but then shot it to look like a bigger place
because it looks like they're kind of playing a small place.
These were like the size of the theaters that we
were doing for Podney's World, right, so our live tour
was in theaters that size. I was like, oh so yeah. Anyway,

(26:06):
Uh it is called the Unbreakable Bond Tour and the
sold out crowd is going nuts. Will that's Feral and
his family are dead center in the pit. They arrived
four and a half hours early. The brothers are getting
ready to take the stage, so they huddle and say
every moment, every brother, every feeling matters. And I have
to say, this is a terrible, terrible motto when there's
a fourth brother that isn't involved in any of this,

(26:30):
and I just thought it was mean, Like you, oh
my god.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I was like, there's another brother, Dard, except for the youngest.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah, except for the one who doesn't do for our family.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
I think their brother is in the music industry.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Think you he didn't know he put as on.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
He's significantly younger than them.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Though, but still it's a weird model thing for them.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Lisa said, he opens for them, so he's still doing
his part, but he is significantly like when I'm telling
you this, but it's a weird motto. Monroe. Yeah, it is,
it is. I think it's to just bring into like
I get in tost of it. We're together, we're agin I.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Get it, and it's supposed to come back later. I
get it. But man, there's the brother that's not even
involved in your chant. But with that, the band takes
the stage and wishes London to merry Christmas. We got
our very first song like It's Christmas, their own original
from twenty nineteen, and it was good. I think I
don't remember it, but I didn't remember. I didn't hear
a single song where I was like, oh, that was

(27:25):
a terrible song. But I also didn't hear a single
song that I was that I remember, like, I don't
remember them, but they were all good. It feels like
it could be a cover for a Christmas classic, very
naturally Christmas. So you liked our first track here, I did.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
I liked it. I was a little hung up on, like,
I didn't feel the only thing about this and this
is a spring season, I'll just go ahead and and lose.
But to me, it felt it was a little underwhelming.
I liked this song, but I didn't feel that like Jonas,
like big band Vibe, I didn't get that from this

(27:59):
first one, so it was like, oh oh no, Like
I kind of got worried, like ohappen because I'm here
for the music. I'm here. I'm here to hear my
Joe Bros. Give me some good Christmas jingles. And it
was a good song, but he didn't think that the
visual of it led up to I mean, you could
go on Instagram TikTok and just see how awesome they

(28:20):
are on stage right now, and it didn't give me
that vie. I was like, Okay, don't worry everyone, it comes,
stay tuned.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Well, you know who does love it is Will Ferrell
because he's freaking out. As they finished the show and
walk backstage, Nick can't believe Will Ferrell was at another performance.
Such a funny line like Will Ferrell was here again,
and Nicks thinks to show went very well, especially with
the set changes he made, but the guys didn't even
notice the work he put in, which seems like a
common occurrence these days. The boys are picked up in

(28:49):
a cart by their road manager Brad, who drives him
about forty five feet. Second they're played. He's played by
Randall Park. He's immediately flying to Atlantic City to renew
his vows. Wants to make sure the boys will safely
get to they're playing in the morning, especially since their
stalker count is currently at Nick thirty four, Joe forty eight,
and Kevin Won's seventy five. And it's because Kevin writes
back to the prisoners that writes to him. And this

(29:10):
is where I was like, oh, okay, I get where
they're going with this humor, and I think this is
gonna be a fun ride. And it was ye to help.
Brad got them emergency whistles if anyone tries anything on
their way to New York. They have whistles, and they
have their respective names on them and they can blow
them at any time. He also hired a twenty four
hour travel agent just in case, and so now they
have a free night in London. But Nick says he's
gonna play it cool. He can't show up to see

(29:31):
his wife Prianka Chopra hungover. Joe can't believe it. It's
the end of their tour. They should celebrate with an
epic night, but even Kevin needs his rest, and anyway,
they are three thirty something dads. Now, how epic could
they really get? The question throws us into our second song,
a Joe Jonah solo joint, Best Night. This is all
about what could be the best night of their lives.
It is a very literal, comedic song about what Joe

(29:51):
thinks their future could hold, and we see it all
unfold in front of us. We get Joe playing Elton John,
we get Joe playing Daniel Radcliffe, and we even get
him dressed up as the be The boys are clearly
having a lot of fun filming this. What did you
think of the second song, Sabrina?

Speaker 2 (30:04):
At first, when as we got into it, I went
oh oh, oh, no, oh no. And then once I
realized this was going to be like a comedy one,
I thought it was hilarious, very funny, and I thought
it was really amazingly visual, like you know, using the
dancers and the background where the movement that they had

(30:27):
was so good, and it just it really caught me
on just going this is gonna be a funny night
like what I thought too.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
Yeah, I was like, okay, this is Then it started.
I was like what, oh god, it's going to be
a musical. We will I was like oh no, But
then it was like, oh god, it's kind of making
fun of musicals, and it's tongue in cheek and they're
making fun of each other, so it's very funny, but
the song doesn't change anyone's mind. And now we're in
Nick's very quiet hotel room as he sits in bed
drinking tea. His phone rings and it's Prianco with their daughter.

(30:55):
He plans on taking them skiing tomorrow and is so tired.
He complains spending six months obsessing over every single Jonas
career detail and yet his brothers live care free. Then
over in Kevin's hotel room, he's on FaceTime with his wife.
Last Fame is Danielle Jonas, who he's been with since
they were like fifteen, right, I think they've been with yeah, forever,
which is a very long time, which is pretty cool.

(31:17):
She's with their kids and showing off some very expensive
ornaments they purchased. We also find out that Kevin is
something important to tell his brothers and he's not sure
how they'll take it. And I thought they were setting
up something way different. And at a nearby bar, we
then have party boy Joe all by himself having a drink,
drinking in a Disney movie. I love it. The Jonas
brothers drinking in a Disney movie. I was a big
fan because I'm like, good, they're not like we have

(31:37):
to disneyfy everything up.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
I know, but did you they just suggested it? Did
you realize that they never actually took a drink?

Speaker 1 (31:45):
No, but well one of them in the first, the
first part, the first it's going to be a big night.
They each come in and take shots.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Say no, but they just clink the shots.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
I know they don't actually see him drinking, but his
beer is empty at the bar. He got a little
actually no, but they show that they're drinking.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
They're suggesting it. They still don't drink anything, which I
thought was probably a good choice, but was definitely something
to like pick up on.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
It, which is yes, yeah. The man next to him
has white hair and a short white beard and is
wearing a red leather jacket. This man is actor Jesse
Tyler Ferguson, not playing himself, He's playing Santa Santa. Tyler
Ferguson wants to know if Joe is all right, then
quickly realizes he's talking to a Jonas. Santa has Spotify.
You know. Santa quickly corrects himself, hiding his identity. Joe
explains that his band is doing great, but then his

(32:36):
brother's Eh, the magic is gone and now their Christmas
plans are to get away from each other. It's very sad,
and with that admission, Joe gets up and leaves. Now
alone Santa, Tyler Ferguson starts a spell. He operatically the
man's The boys cannot get home until they rediscover their
brotherly magic. And this is the start of Santa. Just
with these guys' lives to the point of like, really,

(32:59):
you're It's like, might not have them killed while you're
at at Santa? I mean, my god kinda basically does?
I mean, my god?

Speaker 2 (33:06):
It is.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
I get what they're going, but they made Santa real
kind of jerk in this one. I get the point
of it, but yikes. Then the lights flicker and glitter appears.
They must decide to spend Christmas together or else they'll
be stuck for eternity in London. Sounds like heaven to me.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Right, Oh my gosh, well, I am starting to get
to know your brain just so well instead of like, oh,
will would love this kidding loved in London for the
rest of his life.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
My wife's there I'm just gonna say.

Speaker 2 (33:39):
He's good.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
I'm good. The glitter turns into lightning their travels to
strike their airplane, blowing it up just hours before their flight.
It's hopefully not confirmed if anyone was actually on the plane,
but we'll have to assume it was empty, because then
we'd have a body count and only the Jonahs brothers
are to blame. Also, the explosion looked really bad. Yeah,
it was not a good seed I explosion.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
It just there.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
There was a couple cgi moments in this movie, and
there are few and far between it and again we're
nitpicking because I really liked the film, but there were
a couple of moments where it was like that didn't
look good, and this was one of them where it
was like, oh this this didn't look good.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
For some reason for me though it being a Christmas movie,
I don't know which I give it a little bit more.
I don't know why. It just is kind of like
christ They looked right, they look cheesy, and it's like
kind of just supposed to be magical and stuff. So
I mean, because to be honest, for me, all of
the all of the.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Hallmark, of course, Hallmark is cheesier of course it's Hallmark, right.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
And I mean Hallmark is like the land of Christmas movies, right,
So it's like because, to be honest, for me, all
of the Santa Magic stuff looked bad to me. I
didn't I didn't think any of it looked like real great.
But I didn't care because it's a Christmas degree and
it's like the magic is.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
I've never watched a Hallmark Christmas movie. They're just not
my thing.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Oh I love them.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
I wish I could see the thing because I was
gonna say, because they won't put me in them, so
they don't get back, they don't get my vote. Has
there ever been a Hallmark Christmas movie done from the
point of view of the guy who is inevitably left
by the woman who goes to the little It's like
the guy who's the nice guy who's got a great job,
but then she leaves to go to the little town
and then she falls back and is there any one
Has there ever been one done from the point of

(35:22):
view the guy she leaves, who's like, fine, let her go.
Like many of them, if you're gonna leave Wall Street
to go back to your Christmas tree farm in Vermont
to live with the guy who is still talking about
how great it was to be in high school. Have
at it, lady, that's what you get. Uh, yeah, that's
the movie I want to do.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
It's just so many they do so many. I bet
you they actually have. It's a spin off of one
of the other ones they've already done.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
This is when we get a title card explaining we
are forty eight hours away from Christmas. The brothers are
in the airport, staring at the burnt shell of their
plane and panicking they might miss Christmas at home, but
there's still time to book a new flight. Brad is unavailable,
busy busy renewing his vows as promised, but his voicemail
tells the boys to check their wallets, where they find
a business card for Odyssey Travel. They call their emergency

(36:07):
travel agent, Cassidy, who's clearly unhinged from a recent breakup,
but she pulls it together to get them flying out
of Paris, avoiding the storm at Heathrow. But they'll need
to get on the train in just thirty minutes. They
hop in an uber decorated for Christmas, driven by an
older lady expat named Deb who left her life as
an ear nose and throat receptionist to live in London.
This is a great cameo by setv Alum Andrea Martin,

(36:29):
now best known for her scene stealing role on Only
Murders in the Building. And now Deb is speeding down
the highway, clearly filmed in the States, weaving it out
of the lane, still confused by quote unquote the other
side of the road thing. The boys grip onto their
seats and are forced to sing along to Christmas carols
and then just narrowly avoid a stop semi truck to
eventually land right in front of the train station. They

(36:50):
park just as Deb finishes this story, Zoe, he kissed
me on the cheek. He called down for a cab
and I never saw a buzz Aldrin again. One. There's
so many of these random comedy moments in this movie,
and that.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Was one of them that I never saw.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Never saw buzz Aldron again. They rush into the station
without a minute to spare, but do decide they have
time for one song, which again very funny, like we're late.
It's like, do we have time for a song? Yeah,
of course, And they start to sing a song and so.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
We got it too, because but I'm like, I guess
they got their tickets, so then now they are good
on time, Like they had to buy their tickets by
a certain time, so they're good on the tickets.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
But I also think it's funny that they're like, do
we have time for a song? Which is great? So
we get bought number three home for Christmas. It's all
about getting back to their families for the holiday, and
it's sung while interacting with other travelers and the crowded surroundings.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
This might be my favorite.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
I don't disagree this and then the song over the
credits were my two favorite ones. Yes, the last song.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
So there was a lot of great direction here, a
ton of moving parts. This reminded me a bit where
as I was watching it, I was like, oh, this
is like a Kenny Ortega kind of scene. Yes, just
stuff moving around. I'm starting to pick it up now.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
It felt so seamless, it felt and it was just visually.
I loved the part where they're like entering in towards
where the actual trains are with the chairs and you know,
I just like, honestly, I loved this this of this one.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Yep so much. Yep. Lots of moving parts. Here we
even get some synchronized luggage dancing and drum line moves.
We even get arguably the greatest dcom reference ever made
in a movie, as a group of dancers in the
station mimic the infamous camp Rock Demi Levado March that
has become such a popular meme popular meme. The Jonas
brothers notice the reference and give each other a look.

(38:46):
Did you notice it, Sabrina? Yes, yes, that was great.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Well because at first when the when the the dancers
were just doing it, I went, oh no, because I
saw them walking in and I went, oh god, no, no,
don't do it, guys. And I was like, oh wait,
and I rewound it and I was like, this is
actually the same that.

Speaker 1 (39:04):
It's great. It's a good one.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
Again. I loved it. I love that they pick and
poke at at the like the funny things, the things
that they know that people talk about, you know what
I mean. Might as well lean into it rather than
trying to like ignore it.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
And I couldn't agree with you more. It's awesome. And
then we get another glorious cameo. It's by that wizard
Kenny g. He looks like a Harry Potter wizard and
he is a wizard on the saxophone. But I swear
it's like he's got to finish this song so he
can go and teach potions. He just does. I'm telling you.
He hasn't aged a bit except to look like he's

(39:39):
somehow more magical. I know.

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Well, and this the glitter that came out, and then
one got stuck on this side, and then it fell
off while he flicked his hair, and there was a
little bit on this side, and he flicked his hair again.
He still got it.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
God, Okay, so what did you you like the musical nomer?
You like the dancing because you're you're the you're the
expert a dancer. So the dancing worked in this scene.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
I mean it, Yeah, it was. It wasn't like I
mean it's I guess, right, yeah, I guess it wasn't
like what are we comparing it to? Right? It? But
at the same time, I think it worked, and I
think more importantly, like the just the entire routine, in
the entire number of visual aspects was just so great.
Like you really, I felt like it was easy to

(40:24):
get lost in this movie. Yeah, like this one in
a good.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Way, super cool and just as the boys finally make
it to the train, we see that it's destination is
magically changed because of course Santa's still with them. It's
not going to Paris anymore. It's going to my favorite
place in the world, Amsterdam.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
I thought you can't have two you say that about London.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Amsterdam will always be my first favorite favorite place. I mean,
I lived in Amsterdam when I was like eighteen. Oh,
so that's where I wrote the Winnie the Pooh movie
for Disney. I actually lived in Amsterdam when I when
I moved there to write the movie for them. Wow,
I've been there twenty times. It's my favorite in the world.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
There's a magic to it. I sit in the museums
all day long. It's just I absolutely love Amsterdam, love
the food, I love everything about it. So yeah, damn you, Santa.
Tyl Tyler Ferguson. While getting coffee on the train, Joe
runs into a girl he grew up with named Lucy
Chen And normally I'd be like, really, he just happens
to run into somebody, But it's happened to me in Europe,
where I'll be on a train or I'll be on

(41:22):
the street and I will run into somebody I know.
So it has happened to me more than once. I
was like, you know what, I'm fine with this. So
her name is Lucy Chen. She moved to Portland when
they were teens, and they haven't seen each other since.
This is a of course, fictitious love interest for the movie,
since in real life Joe's going through a very public divorce. Anyway,
in the movie, they lost touch when he got famous

(41:42):
and she is a cardiothoracic surgeon now, which they had
to do. They absolutely had to make her something where
she's making a ton of money and established, because they
didn't want it to seem like she's just some girl
glombing on to Jojo. Yes, so they had to make
where she's like, I'm the most famous cardiac surgeon world
and I got that after winning three billion dollars in
the lottery, like I don't need you. And so that's

(42:05):
the only way. They had to make them equals, and
it win worked. They had great chemistry.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
She's super cue gat chemistry.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
It was they looked good together. So there's obviously some
Oh it turns out he even stalked her Instagram, so
there are lingering feelings over the past twenty years. She's
also going through a breakup, so she's on this big
solo trip to find herself. The train is now just
ten minutes from its destination, which the brothers are still
in the dark about. So the two old pals say
goodbye and take their seats. Don't even do okay, So

(42:33):
Sue and I talked about this last night. Do people
just DM each other and hit each other up on
social media? Do they never exchange numbers anymore? Because they
never exchanged numbers in this movie time. Here's my Nay, that's.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
That's what I was thinking that about that same thing,
because it was like, you're not gonna get But then
I'm like, I guess they don't have to because she's
already they've already established that they are both following each
other on social media, So I guess.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
They're just gonna Yeah, I guess they're gonna chat.

Speaker 2 (43:01):
And I mean that would be more so for a
single person to number.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Here's my number?

Speaker 2 (43:07):
Do I find you on?

Speaker 1 (43:09):
On hinge on? Seriously? Do I swipe left on you
on Bumble?

Speaker 2 (43:15):
I was just gonna call it bobble the bump. Do
I do I find you? On b bumble. Can you
do that? I don't know how any of that works.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
Well, he's famous, so when what's the one for famous people? Right? Raya?
I think is the one for famous people? Yeah? Yeah,
so there you go.

Speaker 2 (43:30):
I know some my gosh, how because you've never had
to use I have?

Speaker 1 (43:35):
You know why? Because I know someone who talked about
being on it, and I'm not going to get into
that story. I will tell you that it is a
It is a joy to be in love and not
have to worry about dating.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
It's a different girls out there. I wouldn't know what
I would adapt if I.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
Have no idea how people date. Nowadays, I feel so
bad I have.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
To be single because I don't I don't know.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
I just get a bunch to navigate that because I
don't know how dating just seems so difficult now. I
feel so bad for people that have to date. The
brothers are still in the dark about so the two
old pals say goodbye and take their seats, and even
though Joe's excited to tell his brothers about Lucy, they

(44:16):
discount it, saying he makes these female quote unquote connections
all the time. In other words, he's a male whore.
But enough about that. Kevin has something he wants to
tell the guys, but he's interrupted by Nick, who leaves
to get mayonnaise Love Me's mayo, And while getting that mayo,
which should be put on everything, Nick gets a phone
call from Stacy, their manager, who says promoters want to
extend the tour by six months. Stacy's thrilled, but it's

(44:38):
obvious Nick is conflicted. He knows that six more months
means he'll be doing the heavy lifting all again. He
immediately says no to extending the tour and asks he
not to tell his brothers because they are burnt out. Ooh,
making utilateral decisions about the band. That's not a good idea.
As he hangs up, the train intercom announces they have
arrived at their destination, Amsterdam, thirty nine hours left. I'msterdam.

(45:00):
The boys now have to find a new flight, and
the tension is bubbling. Nick and Joe lay in to
Kevin for being the most forgettable Jonas, Is this true?
Is he the most forgettable? Jonas? You know these guys,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Can you not remember? Because that would be really ironically wonderful?

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Can not remember I can't.

Speaker 1 (45:17):
Remember if he's forgettable. Yeah. Then Cassidy calls she hasn't
found a new flight for them yet and is still
in the middle of a crisis. She should be able
to get something by morning, so they have to stay
at the hotel with the only vacancy in the city.
It's a small room with one bed to share. The door.
This is a huge laugh for me. The door that
just duck tape on it and was just two pieces

(45:38):
of string he had to tie together.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
And I love that he tried.

Speaker 1 (45:42):
I guess well not. Yeah, It's so funny and it's
worth noting now. The huge part of this movie's comedy
and effectiveness, as we've talked about, is the Jonas brothers
willingness to make fun of themselves. Nick talks about a
fictitious candle company that he had that failed wix by Nick,
and they argue over who has the broader shoulders. It
is very, very funny and shows the boys really don't

(46:03):
take themselves too seriously. It if this if you just
want to see a movie with again, I'm I'm one
of because we're pretending they don't have a fourth brother
like everybody else in the world does. I have two
older brothers, so there's three of us. So just seeing
the kind of the relationship between the three and the
egging each other on and then nake in front of
each other, it's very real. So now as they try

(46:24):
to figure out a way home, Joe stumbles on an
Instagram reel from Ethan, Nick's old friend on Broadway. Oh God.
He is on a private jet to Amstraam to perform
his Christmas show Eggnog with an egot. Then he'll fly
back home for Christmas. Everybody doesn't know what an egot is.
It means you've won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar,
and a Tony. Yes, so that is an egot. Then

(46:45):
he flies back home for Christmas. This is obviously a
perfect situation for the guys, but apparently Ethan hates Nick
from their time together on Home Alone the musical, and
although Nick thinks it won't work, they agree to see
him anyway, and so they arrive at the performance only
to walk in on this punchline from Ethan, And I
said Kristin Chenow with I think this is the best

(47:06):
Christmas ham I've ever tasted. That's what I said. It's
just so weird. This now begins the most bonker scene
of the movie that Sue and I were crying laughing
watching this entire thing. It is a very very funny scene.

(47:27):
So Ethan notices the Jonas brothers standing in the back
of the show and points them out to the audience.
The intimate crowd is excited, especially when Ethan calls Nick
to the stage citing the need for a plane. He
goes along with it. The bickering starts right off the bat,
but they decide to perform the big title song from
Home Alone the musical, and we get our next song,
a completely ridiculous ballad from the perspective of Kevin McAllister

(47:48):
and his dad, and it ends with the battle of
one upmanship between Nick and Ethan, each trying to sing
a higher note of falsetto. It is so funny and
serious and just one of my favorit your parts just
the start start. Nick is standing behind him as he
first grabs the microphone and he does it run He's
like and you just see Nick shake his head like,

(48:10):
oh god, it is and just goes downhill from there.
They're trying to one up each other. It is a
legitimately laugh out loud scene. What did you think of this?

Speaker 2 (48:20):
This I felt was Nick's shining part of this whole movie.
I thought his comedic like timing. He went there, he
did not hold back, and they were great together. They
worked off each other so well. And then I love that.
It ends with the piano player who continues to listen

(48:40):
to Nick, even though he's there to play for Ethan, right,
he continues to listen to Nick on go higher and
keep going, don't stop, and then at the end comes
up and goes like I love you.

Speaker 1 (48:54):
Are you yeah?

Speaker 2 (48:57):
One of the things you read your hero you're or
my childhood or whatever.

Speaker 1 (49:02):
So good.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
It was such a good moment for Nick because, like
I said, like Joe's single song that he had was
so good for him. It was it was like this
chance to have just this real shining moment, and this
was Nick's for sure.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
This was serious good.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
I was also just laughing, so oh.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
God, it was seriously funny. It ends with Ethan scorching
the earth, calling Nick the worst Jonah's brother, and assuming
he came to Amsterdam just to show him up. And
now twenty nine hours remain until Christmas and no private jet.
Now at the bar Joe is perusing doctor Lucy's instagram

(49:42):
when lo and Behold Lucy walks up. She was at
Ethan's show and saw everything. She reveals she has something
she wants to do in Amsterdam, and Joe just invites
himself along, but before he joins her, he goes to
text his brothers, but feels their judgment about him hanging
with another girl and decides against including them. Now out
in this treats of Amsterdam Joe, which again it looks
like Amsterdam having somebody who lived there, it very much

(50:04):
looks like Amsterdam. Joe and Doctor Lucy reminist about old
times and talk about her ex. She admits she broke
up with him and it was tough. She asked if
she had to pretend this is again, this is what
we're talking about. This is great this dialogue. She asks
if she has to pretend she's clueless about Joe's public divorce,
and he admits gossip makes his life weird and it
was just it was very real. The conversation where she's like,

(50:27):
am I supposed to just kind of pretend that I
don't know exactly what you're going through? And then are
you supposed to pretend that you're not thinking, I know
what's going on. It was super cool the way that
they did this because their lives have been in the
public forever forever.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
And then they're not these guys are not these they're
not just like a good band that is like famous
but not ultra famous. These guys are Beatles famous like
they are.

Speaker 1 (50:55):
And since they were like twelve.

Speaker 2 (50:57):
Yes, so, I mean it's it's wild to think of
how they talk about You can't think of how someone
would be dating, think about someone like Joe right, like,
I mean, who has had huge relationships, you.

Speaker 1 (51:11):
Know, And well, I mean here's how I look at it.
I know nothing of pop culture, what's going on in
the world, all that kind of stuff. Nothing, And I
know about this guy's divorce. Yeah, so it's like, I mean,
what does that tell you? It's everywhere. So I love
the fact that they just they leaned into it. They're like, hey,
we are We're going to pretend that we you know,

(51:31):
it's like, let's.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
And it would be easy for me to just run
into an old person, like an old person from my
past and not like you have a conversation like this.

Speaker 1 (51:39):
Yeah. Sure, So it was The writing was really top notch.
The way they played it was really great. The duo
eventually stops to swim in a canal, which is a
Dutch New Year's tradition. Again, as someone who lived in Amsterdam,
the canals are disgusting, she convinces him to dive into
so he takes off his passport pack, a little fanny
bag that holds all the guys passports, and then we
hear a hardy ho ho ho from Santa Tyler Ferguson

(52:02):
and see some glitter attacking the bag. He's trying to
ruin their lives again. Oh, all they do is bring
joy to people's lives, Santa, and this is how you
repay them. Thank you very much, Lisa.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
Lisa googled. She said, apparently they did film for three
days in Amsterdam the movie. Would you say, from your
knowledge of Amsterdam, this canal scene was most likely one
of the day one of the things they filmed there.

Speaker 1 (52:30):
The streets they were walking on were where some of
them were, certainly Amsterdam. The canal was all the water
was blue, which leads me to believe this was not
an amster that was either done on a stage or
somewhere else. It's like a black nastiness. It's like the
water in Venice, where it's like which has gotten better?
The water in Venice has gotten better, but the water
in Amsterdam, last couple of times I've been there, it's
just it's there's boats going through all the time. It's
just a slimy kind of gross canal. You definitely do

(52:53):
not want to swim in the wan O.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Then I'm happy for you. Really forced to do something exactly.

Speaker 1 (53:00):
They're now back in that wonderful hotel room. Nick is
struggling with a computer automated operator trying to book a
new flight. Meanwhile, Kevin is in the bathroom working up
the courage to tell his brothers the thing he's feeled
pressured to ask, which is okay Now, I was like,
he's going to tell them he's going to leave the band. Yeah,
this is He's going to tell them, I don't want
to tour anymore. I want to spend more time with
my kids. I'm done with this. Like they built this up,

(53:20):
like this was going to be the biggest thing. No,
he wants to see he wants to sing lead in
one song, but his courage takes a shot when he
remembers he's the most forgettable jonas a human cardboard cutout,
even which is what they're calling him. His brothers call
him that, but he still finds the ability to be
heard until he storms out to Nick yelling at the
phone robot. So he decides to punt and hopes he

(53:40):
can talk to him about it later. We got twenty
five hours left till Christmas. Now, Joe and doctor Lucy
jump into the freezing water, only to be immediately spotted
by the police. They sprint off in their underwear, grabbing
their clothes and the passport pack, now without any passports inside.
Thank you again, Santa. They hide inside a laundrymat. It
feels just like old times. They're really getting along. Then
Joe gets a nick. They've got flights to New York

(54:02):
and good news, Lucy is leaving for Brooklyn tomorrow to
Everything seems to be working out. They're both going to
be in the city. But then it gets weird. He
doesn't make any plans this year, and they just say
goodbye to each other once again, not even exchanging numbers,
which I thought was weird.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
This felt more weird than the first time. Now you
guys have when you maybe just passed by someone on
a train. Yeah, you guys have spent some time. You
caught up a little bit. You jumped in the water.
You guys you know, ran for your life from the police.
You know you're sharing a moment and then nothing.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
No. I think I think a good rule of thumb
is by the time you've seen each other in your
in your undergarments, you can exchange numbers. I think that's fair.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
I would hope, so, I would hope.

Speaker 1 (54:46):
So, yeah equals number.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
There are special rings, there are purity rings to to this,
and you can't even get a number. There's not some
kind of balancaries.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
Come on, yeah it let's figure out. Let'sigure out a
balance here, right. We are now on his set walk Home.
Joe sings the next song, which is a duet with
Chloe Bennett, who in reality, was a former pop star
in Japan. That is not a joke song details is yeah,
because she can sing.

Speaker 2 (55:12):
I looked her up on id IMDb, and I did
not because I was like, wait, should I know who
this girl is?

Speaker 1 (55:18):
I did the same thing.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
This, yes, like is this somebody? Is this an artist
that's out there? But that I didn't know, like, you know,
because all I saw in anything was just her her
acting credits, and I didn't see something. Did you see
anything about her pop group in Japan?

Speaker 1 (55:35):
I did not. She sang under the name Chloe Wang. Oh,
so I guess we're gonna have to read Google. But
the song details his own fears about feeling emotions for someone.
And again I it was fine. I don't remember it.
Do you remember the song? They were both they both say, well,
they have great chemistry, but I don't remember the song.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
I was too busy googling.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
Googling, googling her.

Speaker 2 (55:56):
Yeah, and it did pop out out at me so
much where I was like, oh, I got rewind this
and rewatched this section. I kind of just kept going.

Speaker 1 (56:03):
By the way. I will say, as essentially the only
other actor. I mean, you've got Jesse Tyler Ferguson coming in,
and you've got they are cutting to Cassidy occasionally. She's
really the only other actor that's kind of with them
in the in the cast, and she's great. She's got
the same sensibility, the same kind of comic timing. She's likable,
she's personal. They have great chemistry together. She was very

(56:25):
good casting, like.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
She was so beautiful, cut, cool, cool, look that I
was you know who.

Speaker 1 (56:33):
She reminded me a little bit of She had a
little bit of a Linda Cardellini vibe to me. Oh
who again is one of my favorites. So shout out
to Linda. Shout out to Linda, Linda, shout out. And
back at the hotel, the boys are getting ready to
fly home when Joe returns. When asked for the passports,

(56:54):
he realizes they are gone twenty three hours left till Christmas.
They informed their travel agent about the issue, and she
has an idea. The ex boyfriend she's been pining for
the entire movie. He's a pilot. She knows he flew
to Germany with some girl, so they can get to Germany.
She can convince him to fly the Jonas brothers home.
So they rent a car to Hamburg, and just when
they think nothing can stop them, we get more glitter

(57:15):
in the tailpipe and we hear Santa Tyler Ferguson yelling
magic almost immediately there on the side of the road
with a stalled engine. He just keeps messing with these guys.
Fourteen hours left. He's not gonna be happy until they're
a duet. The boys are what that was a good joke.
The boys are walking in the snow, fearful they're a star,
Fearful they will starve or freeze to death. When a

(57:35):
truck approaches those scared, they flag down the driver and
it's Santa Tyler Ferguson. Joe thinks he knows it, but
the undercover Saint Nick says he's driving through Hamburg and
offers them a ride. Joe and Kevin hop in the
back with some Christmas trees while Nick sits in front
with what he feels like could be a murderer.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Would you do this?

Speaker 1 (57:51):
Oh yeah, in Europe. Absolutely. By the way, it's very
strange that they're in Europe. Quick, Oh yeah, in Europe,
I certainly would.

Speaker 2 (58:00):
I would.

Speaker 1 (58:01):
Yeah. I wouldn't hitchhike in the States anymore. I mean
I did as a kid, but I wouldn't anymore. But
in Europe, yeah I would. I wouldn't feel himself. I
will say this, it's very strange that every single car
they get into in Europe is driven by an American.
They've got the woman who's the ex pat, now you've
got Santa Tyler Ferguson. It's like they don't get a

(58:21):
single European person who actually picks them up. It's always
another American, which is very true.

Speaker 2 (58:25):
True even the flight well, I mean, I know he's
private drat flying, but even the he's Australian, right, yeah, well, yeah,
I guess he's an Australian.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
But yeah, but nobody Yeah, it's uh oh New Zealand. Sorry,
he's a Kiwi. The two chat about how the band
got in this position and how working with the family
all the time since they were kids is tough, and
since Nick worries and obsesses over every detail to keep
them on their a game, he's stuck being the annoying
one and it's driving him nuts. Santa admits his own
life is pretty solitary. He wishes he was part of
a pack like Nick is. This forces Nick to realize

(58:56):
the love he has for his brothers and asks Santa
to pull over. He wants to sit with Joe and
Kevin in the back, and once he's in the truck bed,
the brothers talk about their childhood from their dad driving
them in that famous minivan two shows to their favorite
Christmas days, and that leads us to their next song,
Remember When from Nick, which is intersplice with real home

(59:17):
movies from New Jersey. It's very adorable footage. I don't
remember the song, but again, they didn't even look like
them and some of them they were so young, I know.

Speaker 2 (59:26):
And this was like, oh my gosh, are they doing
it right? They want this video footage. I mean it
was all over the documentary that they had out their
latest one. I mean it is and it's so cute
because I mean, they're two brothers, or they are three

(59:47):
brothers that have really grown up together and like finesse
their you know, their talents together, and it's so cute
to see them with the glasses and the I mean.

Speaker 1 (59:58):
It's just like so definite fan service. Yes, The boys
and Santa end up at a rest stop where Nick
decides to call back their agent Stacey. He gets her
voicemail and tells her to extend the tour. After all,
when things are good, they're great. He just needed a
minute to decide. His brothers brought some touristy German sweatshirts
and end up finding Cassidy's ex'es plane. They are pleasantly

(01:00:19):
surprised that he's a heart throb howk named Jean played
by Riverdale's kJ Appa, but he's more known to pop
culture nowadays as mister Fantasy.

Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
What is that? I don't know? What is that? All right?

Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Please please? Okay? So is this fake.

Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
Character that kJ Appa created on TikTok And he's like this.
He has a British or Australian accent and he goes
around he wears these big glasses, he has this wig
on and he's just like in character the entire time.
And we literally had him at wait was he a yes?

Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
And he went up to Ryan Seacrest, right.

Speaker 3 (01:01:01):
And he's just like he's just like a character. But
it kind of like blew up after this movie came out,
and then he released the song It's just.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
It was the Thanksgiving Day parade.

Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
Is it funny the character that he does or is
supposed to be serious.

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
It's funny. He's like, like I feel like for jingle Ball,
was he in like a like a fully like silver
like bell Bottom was like, and a y belt, bottoms
in like a jacket and like a black like short
wig and the big glasses. Yeah, he was like, it's
like a character.

Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
Like he literally puts in like fake teeth that are.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
Like this guy is so handsome and you would never
know that and that out what he was looking like.
He just looked like just like this big giant character.
I feel like it's similar to kind of like what
that guy was who wore the belt bottoms in on MTV.
He had like the crazy ratted hair and he he

(01:02:00):
was like a host of some sort. It was during
a Sorry I forget what that guy's name was, but
it was like that, like a big old character that
you're just like.

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
This shows you how little I know of any of
this stuff. So I just saw.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Him in the pictures and on social media from jingle Ball.

Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
All right, Well, Jane calls it an honor to get
them home for Christmas, and it's maybe too good to
be true. He's decorated the cabin and gotten them their
favorite snacks. But once they're in the air, there's some
serious turbulence, Hey turbulence. Nick goes to the cockpit to
see what's up, and when he arrives, Gene is taking
sexy selfies. He's also flying by himself with no copilot.
Cassidy has been posting photoshopped images of herself with dudes,

(01:02:38):
and he's trying to even the score with thirst traps.
He abandons his position to take better photos putting the
plane on autopilot, but nothing he takes is good enough.
He is super obsessed, and while Nick tries to nail
the shots using Joe's successful candlebrand glow by Joe as lighting,
Joe and Kevin see that Ashley has texted Nick about
changing his mind and extending the tour. They don't get
the part about changing his mind, so Nick admits he

(01:03:00):
lied to her originally and made decisions without them. The
brothers are not happy, and neither is Jean, who is
having a full on meltdown about not looking hot enough.
As he throws a fit, he slips and hits his
head on the table, knocking himself out. They weakened at
Bernie's him back into the cockpit and accidentally deactivate the autopilot.
They are now losing altitude fast. Jeans still won't wake up,
so Joe takes the reins. He's confident he can land

(01:03:22):
the plane. He's friends with Glenn Powell from Top Gun,
but as soon as he grabs the controls, they nosedive
even faster. He has no idea what he's doing as
they are plummeting to their death, which I'm pretty sure
is Santa's idea. The entire time Nick has an idea.
He pulls out their customized emergency whistles. He tells his
brothers to blow into them aggressively, hoping the ring will
awaken Gene. They work together to make the loudest sound possible,

(01:03:44):
finally startling the pilot and bringing him back to life,
just in time for Santa to send some glitter and
help the group barely survive. Hey thanks Santa for not
having his crash and a fiery snowball, landing them in
a snowy forest, But the candlelit glow by Joe has
caught the lane's Christmas tree on fire, and now the
entire cabin is a blaze.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Gena.

Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
The boys make a run for it, now, dodging trees
and the snowy wasteland, just as a plane erupts into
a mushroom cloud of fire. That's two planes, now, two
private jets. They've destroyed about three hundred, three hundred to
four undred million dollars worth of stuff, and then they
realize no one has their phone, and now it's five
hours till Christmas. Gene apologizes for his behavior and says
he'll build a shelter for the night, but Nick isn't
having it. He is furious they're in this position because

(01:04:25):
Gene was trying to win back the weirdest woman ever.
This infuriates Gen, who says to keep her name out
of his mouth, so Nick challenges him by saying her
name over and over and over again, and with that,
Gene leaves. The Jonases are now without anyone and no
one has survival instincts, and they blame Nick again for
making decisions without them. This turns into a big fight
about how Nick resents making all the decisions, but his
brothers blame his need for control. Joe brings up how

(01:04:48):
everyone is so critical of his womanizing, which made him
not tell them about Lucy and Amsterdam. Then Kevin jumps
in he wants to sing lead Yes. This is becoming
a moment for all of them to get out their gripes,
leading to a blowout where they all go their separate
ways to see their kids. Kevin also wonders aloud if
all the brothers only had girls because of genetics, which
is a very funny moment. This leads us to better

(01:05:11):
Off alone a song with the brothers wondering if blood
truly is thicker than water. They walk away aimlessly in
the snow and end right back up with each other
at the end of the song, which is very funny.
They all finish singing, and then they come back and
they're staring at each other. Did we walk in a circle? Yep,
we walk in a circle. Then they hear rumbling in
the woods. They hope it's Gene, but it's a pack
of wolves. They don't know if they're supposed to stay

(01:05:31):
silent or make a lot of noise. They know it's
easier for these wolves to attack in packs, like it's
easier for them to be brothers in a pack. They
decide to yell their apologies to each other at the wolves.
It is a nice moment as they're surrounded by hungry
rabbit animals, ending with just loud screaming. But the wolves
aren't leaving, so in a last ditch effort, they huddle
and quietly say their motto again, every moment matters, every
feeling matters. The three of us brothers matter, are fourth

(01:05:53):
one doesn't. They profess their love for each other, and
then the glitter appears above them. The wolves scatter, and
the Jonas brothers call it a Christmas miracle. They thank Santa.
Don't thank Santa. You're in the woods because of him.
But then hear what could be the wolves returning, but
it's actually sled dogs pulling the road. Manager Brad. The
plane crashers all over the news and he's looking to
rescue them. Choppers are on their way. Also, in case

(01:06:15):
you were worried, Brad did get to renew his vows,
but he's promised a sick Bolli honeymoon to the Jonas brothers.
The guys call their families and decide they all should
celebrate together. That was funny. It was like, oh, you
should call your wives. They all think you're dead. And
now we are zero hours from Christmas. The boys have
been dropped off at a big mansion. They made it home.
Everyone is there and we see their real families, including
that bonus Jonas yay, Frankie, somebody needed to do craft service,

(01:06:39):
and their parents, which is a nice surprise. Jo siees
Nick kissing Prianca and his daughter and you can tell
he wishes that he had that. Later that day, Kevin
is retelling the story of their journey when there's a
knock at the door. It's doctor Lucy Nick and Kevin
invited her and the bonus Jonas talks. He speaks, Apparently
she used to babysit him and he's weirded out to
see her. The two possible lubirds reconnect and it's revealed

(01:07:01):
that Nick and Kevin have promised her some big speech
from Joe apologizing for the weird behavior in Amsterdam. She
realizes quickly they all made it up, and the boys
are watching them from the kitchen, smirking again. Very funny
brother stuff. Joe improvises the speech, and despite going through
a lot of the insane details of their venture, it's
emotional and nice. He admits he choked in Amsterdam and
should have hung with her right until they got back

(01:07:22):
to New York. He's scared of falling for her, but
he's willing to take the risk. She is worth it.
She responds by kissing him, and then he asks if
she'll spend Christmas with the family, which another thing to do.
You want to spend Christmas with my entire family, which
is very funny. Then, still in her arms, he starts
singing this got weird. We get the song time and
it's completely insane. Everyone else is just talking to each

(01:07:42):
other like normal, but Joe singing amongst them. Eventually, finally
the others join in, which makes it a little less weird,
interacting with their immediate families, then regrouping with everyone at
the tree. We then see travel agent Cassidy at the
call center, reuniting with a still injured Gene. The road
manager Brad is with his wife and Bali for their honeymoon.
Stacy ended up getting a facial treatment that she wanted.

(01:08:03):
Deb the uber driver, is happy at her job and
now back at the Jonas's household. The real dream has
come true. Kevin is singing solo and he sounds great.
Everyone loves it. The family members dance around, celebrating and hugging.
We see Santa Tyler Ferguson looking through their window. This
poor sociopath didn't get to kill the entire family like
he wanted to. He's about to announce the continuation of

(01:08:23):
the Jonas tour, but then gets a call the Oasis
Brothers need him. We cut to one month later. It's
a live Jonas Brothers performance of their hit song Sucker,
which again I thought this was the second best song
of the thing. That's what I kind of remember. It's
in front of a big sold out crowd, and we
also see our credits we catch Will Ferrell again in
the audience, screaming and admitting he'd saved the Jonas brothers
from drowning before his own children. We also see a

(01:08:47):
YouTube apology from Ethan Ugh just a h chef's kiss,
asking for forgiveness for the Amsterdam incident. And that is
our movie. Let's do our real reviews. I have the
one star review this time, which again I don't agree

(01:09:10):
with this person. This is The Scientist three. I was
extremely disappointed to see Joe Jonas more interested in flirting
and getting together with a woman rather than seeing his
daughters for Christmas, especially after the really messy divorce from
his wife that was extremely public. Joe needs not to
focus on dating women right now. He needs to focus
on his daughters as they should be what is the

(01:09:30):
most important thing in his life. Kevin and Nick have
their priorities straight. That is from The Scientist one star.
I'm going to say I've never met Joe Jonas. I
don't know anything about Joe Jonas, but I'm gonna say, hey,
the Scientist yourself from.

Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
Joe curiously, like, Okay, you just need to sit down.
I agree, I've read a review again to do with
the movie in any sense, you jerk face, get out
of here. Don't like you at all.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Yeah, so I never I never call out the people
that write views or do any of that stuff. But hey,
the scientist, so three go pounds in my friend? Serious Sabrina,
you have the five star Let's get back to some reality.
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
Yeah? For real? Although this one is kind of funny
as it starts this five stars from Tracy Lee. I'll
be honest, I've never been a Jonas Brothers fan. I
almost turned it off when I saw Will Ferrell, one
of my least favorite actors, but I stuck it out,
and I'm so glad I did. The Jonahs Brothers comedic

(01:10:29):
chemistry is something I was not expecting. Is it predictable? Yes,
But to be fair, I think all Christmas holiday movies
are anyone or anyone watching and expecting anyone watching and
expecting otherwise? Come on?

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Really, so five starts kind of.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Like a backhanded.

Speaker 1 (01:10:50):
In many many ways.

Speaker 2 (01:10:52):
But Tracy Lee, I'll take yours over the scientists.

Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
Any Yeah, agreed, Yeah that was a backwards compliment. Uh wow,
we are now to Sabrina's favorite part of the program.
And I'm just.

Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
Really starting to become my actual I can tell you I've.

Speaker 1 (01:11:09):
Got to put all this on your shoulders because I
will know none of this.

Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
So oh no, if it's actual songs for the Joe Bros.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
And no, it's not a song. So this is called
the Facts about the Act in celebration of the Jonahs
Brothers returning to Magical Rewind in Spirit anyway that haven't
been on the show yet. Come on, bros, we got
we want to celebrate the iconic Disney group. We will
be giving a question about the family and we have
to pick the correct answer three out of five wins.

(01:11:36):
Are you confident in your Jonas Brothers trivia? Please be,
because I got nothing not in any way. Okay, here
we go. I'm already I'm already thinking. That's just everyone saying,
do you need to call a friend? I'd like to
phone a friend. I'd like Lisa to answer all these Lisa,
MICHAELA and tar to answer all these together. All Right,

(01:11:57):
here we go. We're gonna look pretty bad. Okay. The
bonus Jonas Frankie released a solo song in February twenty
twenty three was the Soul was the song called A
My Time? The introduction suction? God, I hope it's not
that see cocaine or d dip that poll and I
hope it's not that. I hope it's A My Time.

Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
I am gonna go with A two for some reason,
C is drawing me, but I hope.

Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
I hope the answer is c oh and it's produced
char Are you with us today? Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
It's see.

Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
So he released a song called cocaine Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Okay that seems so off brand of.

Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
Maybe that's why he's doing it, is he's trying to
get like as far away. At least it wasn't dip
that pole or introduction or introduction suction. Never have the
word suction in the in the title of a song.
Yikes the Okay number two. The Jonas brother's parents, Kevin
Senior and Denise run a southern comfort food franchise. Is

(01:12:58):
it called a Nelly b Bellies, C Joe's or D Bros.

Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
Didn't the Jonas brothers just open a pizzeria type place
called Joe's. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
I think it's just my burger king.

Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Uh, Southern comfort D Bros.

Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
I'm gonna get no idea.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
I'm gonna go with A A.

Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Nellie's okay, D Bros.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Therena's right, it's a.

Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
Okay Nellie's of course, your guest. He said, none of
these I'm getting. I'm getting none of these all right.
Number three Kevin Senior has a podcast. He's a real
peer apparently. Is his podcast called A Father Knows Best?
I hope B legendary, C, Classic and timeless or D
how we did it?

Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
Father Knows Best? Sounds so good. I'm gonna He also
was a preacher, but the.

Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
Last one was A. So I don't think you do
two a's in a row. So I'm gonna say, I'm
gonna I'm gonna go with D again D deep. No,
I'm gonna do what I did back in the day
and just circle cee when I didn't know the answer.
So see classic and Timeless.

Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
I'm going with A. The answer is B legendary, of
course it is? What is it? Okay? Now I gotta
look it up. What this podcast about?

Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
Number four Nick made his brother with iHeart Yeah. Number
four Nick made his Broadway debut in which musical A
Rent B Calamity, Jane Ce Cats, or d Anny get
your gun. Okay, it's not gonna be cats. Cats was
gone by that point. It's gotta be Rent.

Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
I would think Rent.

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
It's gotta be rent a Rent.

Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
The answer is, d can you get your gun?

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
This knows so little about yeah, should have been And finally, mercifully,
number five put me out of my misery. The Jonas
brothers wrote the jingle and were the spokespeople for which
candy a Baby Bottle Pop, b Ring Pop, c blow
Pop or d TOTSI everybody knows it's the owl is.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
The is the to.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Me, So it's not that it's got to be blow.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
Pop, right, I would think ring Pop.

Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
Okay, I'm gonna say Sea blow Pop.

Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
You guys, it's.

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
Baby bottle Pop, Baby bottle Pop.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
Candy. I didn't even know you guys.

Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
All these my gosh, you dip it and you shake it.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
I have to throw them away because she likes to.
She can't do it, she can't have it all at
the same time, she wants to keep it and it's
nasty's disgusting.

Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
Well, I went over five.

Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Unless they want to do it, then it sounds really good. Exactly,
such a great product to add Magic sponsored.

Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
By Baby Baby Bottle Pop. Can we do Sabrina C's please?

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
We can now? I will tell you I enjoyed this
movie so much. I really didn't like nitpick or have
anything like a ton I feel like all my stuff
was just like Will Ferrell. Yes, Nick's voice is just
so good. Like I'm like, literally looking at these Sabrina.

Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
Seas are embedssed girls.

Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
True. Oh okay. One of the things that I will
say because I actually was talking to Joey Fatone about this,
and for some reason, when you're in a group as
both of us have experienced being, and you might get
it from being a part of Podmeet's world, the characters
like the ensemble cast is for some reason, and it

(01:16:41):
spiraled me into this. I paused a little bit of
when he does the piano dueling right the singing piano portion,
and she goes, you're the worst Jonas brother, and I'm like,
it's so funny to me how when you're in a
group like that, you are obviously and it's not a
big deal, it doesn't, but you're compared to each other

(01:17:02):
quite a bit. And then it's like I don't really
get the worst ever, but I always get like, oh,
It's funny when they either go, oh, you were my
favorite Cheetah girl and I was kind of like, well,
you didn't have to pick a favorite one, but thank
you right, or like or when they'll be like, oh
my gosh, Galeria was my favorite.

Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
And I'm like, oh, good, you're You're my third, my
third favorite.

Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
And then I like Chanel, and then I liked Aka,
and then I liked you, and You're kind of like,
I feel so honored being your last and only pick.
It just made me think of it because Joe and
I would just say how often like people would go
and he goes, you know, it's great when they say
you're my favorite. I always loved your Superman stuff or whatever.

(01:17:44):
Then he's like, but most of the time it was like, oh,
I like justin Oh, I like jac and it's always
like cool.

Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Hey, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
And then I never felt more scene in my life
watching Nick's scene with the voice operator.

Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
Oh yeah okay.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
And I at this point now have the quickest temper
with those. I am like, once the options come on,
I'm sitting there going zero zero, zero, zero zero, Like
I don't even operator operator. I get so irritated because
they can never understand what I'm saying. And then literally

(01:18:24):
the next one was I thought it was kind of
funny during the sea the scene with them in the
back of the truck and they're with all of these
just cut Christmas trees, right, they're all just cut. And
then they start talking about how their dad went and
chopped down one, and then there was a bunch of spiders.
Yet they're sitting in a truck filled with these that

(01:18:46):
would it create me out?

Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
But there's no spiders in Germany. Okay, but they're hard.
That's like one of the things that Germany is known for.
Germany and New Zealand have no indigenous spiders, so they
don't go it. Will google it, Google it no, because

(01:19:09):
I so.

Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Jordan got the biggest kick. He's like, I don't listen
to these these podcasts very often or not often enough
to know how much how gullible you become around Will Like.
He's like, you're not a gullible person, Smrito, Why can
he convince you of anything? I like, I don't know.
He just can literally tell me anything, and I just
start to question my own thought process. Okay, last little bit,

(01:19:43):
and this isn't it. This isn't a hit at the
at it at all. But did you notice that the
only kids faces that we saw were Kevin's.

Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Kids and the other.

Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Preanca And then to the point where I wasn't even
sure if Joe's daughters were edit or not, because I
never I saw little girls and you know it doesn't.
But I just thought that was like a.

Speaker 1 (01:20:09):
They were actors for they were actors for Joe's kids.

Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Okay, yeah, because I was like, you know, wow, that
that's an interesting way to go since you know they're
wanting to get all this stuff family thing.

Speaker 1 (01:20:24):
Yeah, they recently started not showing Nick's daughter's full face.
Joe's kids have never been seen in public and they've
never posted them, which again, when you're a celebrity, especially
of that status, right you don't. I mean, I couldn't
imagine that. So I thought the same thing, like when
he's doing the FaceTime in the beginning, you just see
the kids back, very smart, very smart way of doing it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Where it's like they did it wasn't like so obvious.
They still seem to have the kids on set. You know,
I don't even know again it you could have. I've
never seen a picture of Nick's so I don't. I
wouldn't have recognized whether it was true or not. And
obviously same thing with Joe. But I thought they did

(01:21:07):
a good job of it. It wasn't like jarring. It
was mean me, I'm looking, I'm looking at all the
deep chails and stuff too, So it wasn't jarring. But
I thought that was a great way to feel like
your their families were really involved. I mean, we know
that mister Jonas and his wife, you know, their mom
and dad were in it, their brother was in it.

Speaker 1 (01:21:24):
Will Ferrell's real family was in Like they used their
real family members.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
So like, I love that it felt like real family,
real real vibe. But they did it in a great
way where like it wasn't like too jarring, But I
did agree end up seeing that that was my last one.
That's great.

Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
Well, now we come to the portion of our program,
of course, where we have to rate the film we
just saw, and we're going to do because it's Christmas,
We're going to do one as the lowest and ten
is the best. And here are options. One out of
ten bad mottos, less famous, Danielle's Santa Tyler Ferguson's Wizard,
Kenny g cameos one out of ten forgettable jonases, one

(01:22:06):
out of ten teen pop stars in Japan, or one
out of ten bad pilot selfies. Who picks this week?
Do I pick? I think I picked this week? Don't.
It's gotta be wizard Kenny g cameos.

Speaker 2 (01:22:17):
It's good?

Speaker 1 (01:22:18):
Yeah, So I do we remember? Who went first? You
went first?

Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
Less? Did I go first? Last?

Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
Think you did? Okay, So here we go. I really
enjoyed this movie. It's short. These are all the things
that I liked it was. It's short, it is well written.
They are hugely personable. I was there are parts of
it that were really laugh out loud funny. It looked good.
You know there's now I'm gonna because I have to nitpick.

(01:22:48):
That's my job. Some of the CGI didn't look great,
mostly with plane stuff, the first plane exploding and then
when the actual next plane they were on flu that
took off. It was very CGI. It just didn't look
very good. But those are straight up little nitpicks. I
really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was timely. The
seeing the brothers together was great, seeing the relationship they

(01:23:10):
have them leaning into kind of the stereotypes of their
characters as the brothers. I think was a great way
to go with it, the self deprecating, great way to
go with it. I'm giving this a solid nine point five. Wow, Wizard,
Kenny G cameos. I really enjoyed it. Again, I don't
remember much of the music, but I'm not a musical

(01:23:31):
guy anyway, so I'm just kind of letting that go.
The music was fun. I remember as I watched it,
they didn't stick in my head. That doesn't mean they're bad,
it just means they didn't stick in my head. Some
of them were very funny. The Home Alone song I
could make my ring tone. All that stuff was. I mean,
the whole thing starts with him just going home alone.
Like it was great. So I am giving this a

(01:23:51):
solid nine point five. I really enjoyed this movie. It
was a fun eighty minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:23:56):
Yes, I am right there with you. However, I think that,
my that is the top score you've ever done done
until four you did it?

Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
Yeah, didn't. I think Miracle and Lane two and then
and Color of Friendship. I think I think I've given
a couple tens. Okay, I think so, but this is
this is not put it.

Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
That nine point five but regardless it being a musical
ish ish I could should say a musical ish movie
hitting a nine point five, that's pretty damn.

Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
Good for what I agree. I excited.

Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
I'm not happy about it because I agree. I loved
the movie. I loved the cameos. Will Ferrell is just
so good. I wish he was in it more. If
there was a critique, it would have been to have
him in it more. Other than that, I mean, I
think I loved because I had spent a good amount
of time at the very beginning with these guys. They're funny,

(01:24:52):
they're funny, and they don't take things too serious. They
are serious about their careers, but I could and I
don't know them as much as I did when they
were first starting and when they.

Speaker 1 (01:25:02):
Got really really big.

Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
However, I ran into Joe a few times, and he's
just like a really funny guy, like he makes fun
of himself, he knows how things are. And I love
that this movie they leaned into it, and they leading
into it for each of the boys too. It wasn't
just them as a group, and I had so much
fun watching it. I was smiling the whole time. There's
parts of a laugh out laughter in this movie, and

(01:25:26):
I really truly recommend it honestly for a good Christmas movie.
I thought the music was great. I'm on the same
level with you. Don't really remember the great the songs.
I remember the first one being probably like one of
my favorite song songs that was catchy, the one that
was visually looking like a Kenny Ortega music video was amazing,

(01:25:47):
and then of course the one at the end. So
I also give it a nine point five solid scores,
nine point five Wizard Kenny g cameos perfect.

Speaker 1 (01:26:01):
Oh man, Well, this has been a journey. Thank you
everybody for staying with us. We're now together, gonna grab hands,
We're gonna hold hands, and we're gonna walk together into
twenty twenty six. So we're not gonna do a movie
recap next week. Instead, we're gonna be participating in a
very important exercise, something to keep us on our toes,
which we just literally were showing you right now, as
Sabrina was like, have you given it ten? Okay, So

(01:26:23):
we're gonna be given titles of old d coms we've
already recapped, and then we have to try and recall
the score we gave them at the time. YI. This
is to see if we remember our opinions at all.
Can we recall which movies we liked and which movies
we dislike? Sabrina, do you think we'll remember the scores
even a little.

Speaker 2 (01:26:39):
I think we will remember the ones we disliked more
than the ones we really liked.

Speaker 1 (01:26:45):
It's only the ones we gave like sixes to where
it's gonna be like, I don't.

Speaker 2 (01:26:48):
Remember what I don't yeah, but the ones that we
went lower than that, it's gonna be like, oh, yeah,
we hated I know, or got a lot of.

Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
Crap on Instagram for something exactly that happens. But here's
our first big announcement. Though. Our first movie of the
new year will be our first three quel ever. It
sounds sounds a little strange the way I said that
our first thrupple ever. Cheetah Girls three. Get excited. Everyone.
That is right, we are seeing. I don't know anything

(01:27:17):
about this movie, but I think it ends with the
final fight to the death where one Cheetah girl is
left standing. I can't wait. I don't know it gonna
be it's I love it so and for more info
on the podcast, you can follow us at magical Rewind
pod on the Instagram machine. Just crank that thing on
the side, press the button, then yell magical rewind into
your phone and apparently it pops up. I don't know

(01:27:37):
how technology works. Thank you everybody, Bye bye,

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
