Speaker 2 (00:07):
Sh Tyrese Maxie on Blocks three parter ty Rese Maxie.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Away, Yo, what's up y'all? It's Tyre's here, Maxi on
the mic. It's a very eventful week, very eventful week,
not even just a week, maybe like last two three weeks.
So I wanted to get back on it, get back
trying to get weekly with you guys. I know a
lot of people be asking me about getting on more.
(00:37):
I gotta do that. I gotta do that because the
NBA schedule is very busy, so and I'm trying to
find the window, trying to find a schedule, trying to
find certain days when I can get on. But anyways,
I'm letting you know about let you guys know about
some stuff that's going on. We'll have a little bit
of fun, talk about some elephants in the room, and
uh talk about vibe and the upcoming schedule. So here
(00:59):
we go. Okay, first off, gotta address it else in
the room. We all know j H. James Harden asked
for a trade request after he opted into his contract
this summer. You know, we all know now that his
trade request was granted. But for me, you know, it's
(01:20):
sad for me because I really do appreciate what James
brought to the team collectively and then individually. For me,
he was he was like my big brother, but he
was somebody that I looked up to as far as
what he's done in this in this NBA, you know
what I mean, and what he's done in his career,
what he's done on playing on Okay see then going
(01:40):
to Houston, having a team of franchise of his own
and carrying them on his back for so long and
being able to almost get them to the finals multiple times,
have to run into a couple of Golden State teams
that were you know, those teams are tough. And then
he just taught me so many different things on the
court off the court, and I really do appreciate him.
I appreciate him. I don't think I feel like, you know,
(02:02):
I worked hard in my basketball skills and stuff like that,
but I don't think I would be confidently like the
player that I am today without spending those you know
here many eighteen nineteen months that we were together. And
so that's gonna be a relationship that goes on and
on and on forever. But that's what I want to say, first,
I appreciate him. Now I'm glad he got his wish.
I'm glad he got to go to the Clippers, got
(02:24):
to go home play in front of that home crowd.
I think I think this was a bigger, bigger than
basketball move for James, you know, like I think, of
course he's gonna want to go there and compete, and
because he still has a lot left in the tank.
But I think he wants to go to LA because
you know, he's also trying to dip into that next
part of his life, you know, career. LA is a
(02:45):
great place for him for as fashion and all those
different things that he likes to invest in. So you know,
I'm happy for him, happy for him. I found out
from the trade this is I'm just gonna get you
out of my room. As I told the media a
fake answer the other day. But this is the real answer.
If you listen to the party, you get the real answer.
I'm up. I watched I watched the Lakers in the
(03:07):
Magic and so I'm wide awake. I took a late nap.
I took a very very very late nap, so I'm
wide awake and I'm scrolling on. I'm just talking to Chris.
I'm talking to Brandon, but then I go get into bed.
So once I get into bed, you know, I have
all the lights on to wind down. I'm on my
phone and I log on to Twitter, and this time
(03:27):
is exactly like two o'clock am, So I'm literally getting
ready to put my phone down and go to sleep,
but I log on the Twitter is the last app
I'm going to check today, tonight or this morning whatever.
But I'm scrolling and I get a notification and the
notification says it's funny because I never get Twitter like
like notification and they just stack up all day. But
(03:48):
because I'm on there, I can see the onfication come
across my phone and some random person says Tyrie's you
are the captain now with a little Captain Phillips stingy,
and I'm like what, click on it? And I scrolled
down and not even fifty seconds ago, it's a WOL
bomb at two a m. So I'm not gonna lie Wol.
(04:11):
It's a lot of fake Wol's pages out there, so
at first glance, I'm like, oh, this is fake. I
click on the page and it says six point one
million followers I said, oh no, this is not fake.
This is not fake. So I get up, I go
into Chris room and like this is real, and like
he goes and checks on his foe and uh. But
(04:32):
it's just like I didn't know the details of the
trade at that time. So I'm literally layding in the bed.
I'm just I'm just curious, like what like when you
when you have a big trade, like that big name trade,
Now you're just curious how many people, how many teams
were affected, or how many players were affected, because you know,
it's not just going to be one for one, That's
just not how it works, especially because like the money
has to add up and everythings like that. So I
(04:53):
was just really curious to see, like what was the
entire dynamic of the trade. So that was that was crazy. Now,
first reaction of the whole trade of who we got back.
I was really sad to see PJ go, really sad,
and James and Philip with the f as Pat Bev
calls him. I was really sad to see those guys go.
I think Phillip is gonna be a really good player.
He was on my summer league team, played a couple
(05:14):
of games with me, when I was on my summer
league team that couple, you know, a couple of years
back then he went back to you know, overseas playing,
so I think he'd be really good. Know it's how
to play the game, knows how to play defense, those
how to block shots, shoot the wall. Well, I like
Philip with F and then for for for I talked
about James for for PJ. We kind of developed like
a little uncle and nephew type of relationship and he
(05:37):
used to always mess with me about my new balance,
about my shoes and stuff. I appreciate him for that
because you know, we you know, we used to always
just laugh and joke about it. But it's really it's
really sad to see him go. Sad to see James God,
but also sad to see PJ go because he really
embraced being in Philly. He really embraced like the toughest
of Philly. Uh. He was such a leader for our
(05:57):
team the last two years, vocally, emotionally, just because he's
been somebody who won a championship and he's done it before,
so we kind of leaned on him for a lot
of different things, especially defensively. So it's hard to see
him go. But you know, I'm glad he's got somebody
like James So who's been friends with and Russ and
those guys. So you know, we appreciate PJ. Appreciate PJ
(06:19):
a lot. Then for the new guys that we got
coming in kJ, between Morris and Cove, I know a
few of those guys outside. I know kJ Martin because
you know, this is a funny story about him. I
was telling somebody that in the facility today. He played
for Brian Adams High School, which was the high school
that my dad was coaching at for a long time.
(06:42):
So and he was like the one of the only pros.
I think he's the only one that came through that
high school. So that's a relationship that I had with him.
So I got to be Key Martin talked to him
plenty of times before I even you know, was in
high school and then just so happened for that kJ
was in the same grade as me, so we grew
up playing against each other. So that was that's really cool.
We go back. It was good to see him today,
(07:03):
you know, walking around facility and got to talk to him.
The Moors twin. I play with him in the Rump Classic,
the game that I played in and thankfully he let
me play on his team. We had a gud time
laugh got to win that the Rum Classic Championship. I
think he was the MVP. Another guy you know who
can help us batoon. You know, I never played with him,
(07:25):
but he's he's famous for me for how he shoots
the ball, how he catches the ball up top and
just doesn't dip it and shoot it. I've always I
always mess with people, like when I'm working out, trying
to like saying betune when I catch it and do it,
and I try to do it. So now I can't
do that in the in the facility anymore because that's
it would be kind of weird. But and then we
have cub Cove is the He's let us know about it.
(07:48):
He is the second leading three point makes three point
fild goal made in six ers history, behind Ai, and
he says plans to break the record. He may break
the record, but if I'm here long enough, I think
I should break that record. But no, that's great though,
but it's great though, it's great. I think the trade
(08:10):
impacts the team. This is the first time we've had
like really like linked at the fourth spot, at the
wing spot, like you know, the three fourth spot, and
that's no offense to you know, our past teammates. That's
just the first time that we've had those type of guys.
In the past, we've had like shooting fours or these
guys can shoot as well, but like you know, it's
either smaller and less athletic fours like my guy George
(08:33):
and Ye who uses his brain and using his his
the way he plays the game, his smarts and his
shooting ability to affect the game, and defensively he can
affect the game. Mike Scott, who shot the three ball. Well,
you know, we had different, different type of players. And
now it's funny. They was walking around in the facility
and I'm like, man, they huge. You know, they're huge
that they have long arms, their wings. Fans are crazy
(08:55):
and it's cool to have those guys. So now I
think that they'll really affect our team defensively. kJ Martin
be able to you know, he gets the opportunities to play,
he can cut, he can do different things like that
to help Joe, Well, he's a lot threat. I mean,
you can always throw the ball up to close to
the rim and he'll he'll go get it. Then you
have Marcus Morris shooting the ball, defending toughness, you know,
I think we need that. But to him is A
(09:16):
is a tenant player. He is like a He can
do everything. He can play small ball five. He can
go all the way up and possibly put the three,
you know, and that's that's gonna be good for us Cuve.
You know, he's been in so he knows his way.
And I'm just really excited, man, I'm really excited to
see what those guys are going to bring to the
table and get them accivated. That's it about the trade stuff.
(09:37):
I do want to talk about a little bit just
the vibe of the team before I go to break.
You know, this was a lot different. This situation with
Jage was a lot different than within the Ben Simmons situation,
I think. And I'm not saying either one was bad.
I'm not saying talking about about either one of those guys.
Love those guys, both of them. But I just think
this one was different, you know, like dig maybe this
(10:00):
is a testimony to Nick Nurse, testimony to some of
the guys that were already there during the Ben Simon saga,
But it's just been different. We haven't been too worried
about it. James was really good when he came around.
He didn't call too much commotion, and he's still like
I just felt like he was very very believing in us,
Like he still believed in us to be successful. He
(10:23):
still believed in myself. He still was giving me pointers
on the bench into the last game that he was
there with us, So it was like he was very
balled in. I feel like the time that he was here,
and he really wanted to win the championship. He really
wanted to win in Philly. He really wanted to help
Joel win MVP. He really wanted to help me grow
my game, become more mature, become even better than I
(10:46):
was when before he got there. And I think those
goals and our ultimate goal wasn't completed, but some of
his personal goals as far as helping Joe well, as
far as showing the world that he could be a
playmaking point guard and still scored a ball a little bit.
Also be showing what that he can score, you know,
in big moments like he did sometimes, you know what
I mean. I feel like he completed those goals and
(11:07):
I feel like he can be happy with his time
in Philadelphia because of the individual goals that he completed,
that he helped guys take step forward too. All right,
let's take a quick break up. Next, we'll get into
how the season's gone so far. You know, we've got it.
We got all that at the other field, out the room.
We've got that out. We'll talk about, you know, thanks
(11:30):
in NBA, thanks to my teammates for you know, selecting
me and however that works for a Player of the week.
Appreciate that. We'll talk a little bit about that, and
then we'll talk about I want to talk a little
bit about the podcast conversation that we had with with
Pat bab and Danny Green while he was here. Shout
out to dg uh and yeah, we'll be back. What's up, y'all,
(12:03):
We're back Max on the mic. Back from break. I
think first I want to talk about the games, talk
about the games. You know, they through it was right
in the fire NBA threw was right in the fire.
They said, you know what, hey, I know the schedule
has been out, yes it has been out before the
Dame trade. But you know, they said, you know what,
first game we want to see y'all play against Dame
and Giannis, the dude that everybody has been talking about
(12:27):
since it happened, and it's just out right that we
end up being it's that they didn't know that, but
it's all right that we played them on the first
the first game, and it was electric. I'm not gonna lie.
I'm not even gonna sit here and say it.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Wasn't Tyres Maxie a clocks three pointer.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
It was electric in there. It felt like a playoff game.
You could tell both teams were trying to win, like
you know, it wasn't It didn't feel like a game
in October. I know it was a season opener, but
you know when you play a season opener, it's like, eh,
you win something, you lose, like it's not a big deal.
Both coaches, both teams. Because it was so many different storylines.
(13:05):
If you think about it, you have the Dame and
the Janna storyline. You have our storylines with James Harden.
You have coach Nurse his coaching that gets his assistant.
Who has I think coach Griffin is name, he has
the coaching job in Milwaukee. You have that, so and
do you have Joel Jannis. You know two of the
top three players in the league. You know, my name
(13:26):
was mentioned a lot, you know, with the Dame situation,
you have that going on. So it was great. It
was a great atmosphere. Everybody, I think everybody stop through
the court player extremely well. Definitely was a winnable game.
I think, you know, we was able to show the
world that you know, we have we still have a
solid team, you know, I mean solid team. We have
guys that are going to go out there and compete.
(13:47):
We end up losing by one. Dame goes off for
the fourth. Sad to say this, but it just it
feels like that's just how the story has to be written.
Dame time, you know what I mean. It's just his
first game in Milwaukee. Of course, he you know, he
plays that way. But he's a special talent. So you know,
it's good and I just feel like one of things
some things we can learn from that. His name. You know,
(14:10):
sometimes you got you got a tip your hat to guys.
He made a hell of a shot on Kelly. Kelly
played great defense. We move on from that game, you
know what I mean. We move on from that game,
and from there we go to Toronto homecoming for Nick Nurse.
It's also just funny, like you gotta think about that.
We play that game, then we backdoor, we're playing in Toronto,
(14:30):
so we were zero to one and now we're still
searching for Nick Nurse's first win, coach Nick Nurse first win,
and it just happened to come be in Toronto, Like,
how funny is that? So it's great, it's really good
that that it worked out like that. So we really
went out there and we tried to really compete for
him and for us as well, because we wanted to
get in the win column. But we wanted to compete.
(14:52):
We want to win that game for him, because that's
that's that's pressure, you know what I mean. That's that's
hard to go into a team organization that you spent
ten years of your life, you won a championship, you
put a lot into it, and to go back there
and play them to get your first win as big time.
And I feel like the guys were extremely, extremely receptive
that they knew the situation, and we tried to go
(15:12):
out there and be our best for him and be
with it.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
He's gonna dribble it out, man, that's gonna do it.
Philadelphia Jackson one oh seven in Nick Nursey's return.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
And uh, I think it went really well. Honestly, I
think that really well. Then we had to fly from
there off a back to back fly back home for
our home opener, playing against the Portland Trailblazers, the new
look Trailblazers up to SHOs Swishes the Ship time ree FAXI.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Fight away.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
So we played against the Dame the Dame Books plays.
They can think about this this three game stretch we
played against the Dame Bucks. You know how crazy that
is that that switch up. Then we play against the
new look Raptors with no coach Nurse, Like, that's crazy.
That's a totally different three sixty. They have a new
(16:15):
going in a new different direction there and Fred no
Fred van Vliet. So that's, you know, a totally different
team to play against with Dennis Schroeder at the at
the head of the snake. Then we come home and
we play against the Dameless Trailblade Whore going in a
different direction with young guys who have Scoot and and
DeAndre Aiden Shadon Sharp and they're going that direction. So
(16:37):
that's just a funny three game dynamic that we've had
and that's just the I think that's the luxury about
playing in the NBA and watching the NBA. You you
grow bonds with these teams. Think about it, like you
get used to seeing Portland, you see a Dame, you
get used to seeing the Bucks, used to just seeing
Yannis but coach. But like now it's so different. You
(16:58):
get Toronto. You know, Okay about to play his nick Nurse.
He's gonna do a lot of different schemes. He's gonna
do a lot of different things with all these athletic
wings that they have. So it's like it's funny to
see how the moving chess pieces of the NBA move along,
And that's just I think that's really cool, cool thing
that the NBA does. But home opener went great, went
really well. I feel like we had a dominant performance
(17:19):
coming in off the back to back from Toronto. We
got in like like two fifteen, two thirty. That's tough,
you know, coming in off of Toronto, had to do customers,
to do all those different things, and for us to
go out there and be resilient. Those are games in
the past of my past two years that we would
lose or that we would at least struggle, but I
(17:40):
think it was important because we really went out there
and we dominate the game. We started off the game dominant.
You know, they went on a little run in the second,
but the beginning of the third we kind of put
the game away. And that's testimony to our vets. You know,
Pj's not with us anymore, but PJ was very vocal.
Joelle went out there and was extremely assertive to buy
this has been very very various sort of and very aggressive.
(18:02):
We need him to stay that way and it's been
great for us so far. Kelly was great, Melt was great.
Everybody who played in that game was tremendous. And I
just feel like Nick Nurse has has brought this new energy,
new vibe. You know, he uses the words expect to
win every single day and he has just this this
creative mind and creative winning ways that you have to
(18:27):
buy in, you know what I mean. And it's like
we get rewarded. It's funny, like it's like we're playing
against whoever we're playing against out there on the court,
but we're also playing against each other. Like he rewards
us for a certain amount of rebounds. So like Joell
had a double double, with I think rebounds and points,
and he got rewarded, he got to do like some
(18:48):
little he got like rocky gloves and stuff. And then
I had I was able to record a double double,
our first one with rebounds, and I got rewarded with
a robe and we got to take pictures. And and
he does this for like every practice, every year game
and he charged everything and he shows the holds of accountable.
It's been really cool, you know. I appreciate him for that,
and it's it's been great, honestly. But yeah, I think
(19:09):
that's it about the games. It feels good to be
back playing though honestly, like for me, I missed basketball
so much. Like I love working out, y'all know that
I love working out. I love working on my game.
I love being creative and finding different ways to find
two of my game try to be the best possible
version of myself. As you can see, like you know,
(19:30):
the work is kind of how I said, it's kind
of showing and coming to light now. You know, people
are kind of seeing. I think people knew, but people
are really trying to trying to see, trying to see
what I worked on this summer. But it's it's nothing
like playing a game, something like playing on I don't
know which ones I like better, road or away, but
I really like playing in front of our home crowd
(19:50):
and making them happy, making them proud, and seeing them
go home and hearing the song. Those are really good feelings,
and that's a really good feeling. And then even Island
and sing a crowd on the road and beating them
and sitting those fans home, you know, kind of sad
and kind of salty. That's that's a great feeling for
me as well. So playing this basketball period really makes
(20:11):
me happy.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
I made a post after we had lost of the
Bucks saying I missed this, and I really meant that.
There was no there was no other way to capture
that post. I really missed just going out there and
competing with my teammates, going out there competing for our organization,
competing for brag and while I was competing for you know,
the ultimate goal at the end of the year, of course.
(20:31):
But I think I think it's been really cool. I
think it's been really good. The season is you know,
this starts the seasons. We just got to keep it
up and uh, you know, go out there and continue
what we're doing containing what we're doing. Yeah, I think
now I need to have to talk about the Eastern
Conference Player a week. How I found out. I don't
like talking about myself, but I have to do that.
That's just what I need to do. But anyways, I
(20:54):
found out. I'll tell you how I found out. I
was sitting on my couch and again, think, you know what,
at this point, let's just talk about Twitter or ex
whatever you want to call it. That's the news. Okay,
that's the news. I'm sorry, it's not the news. I
don't watch real news, but everything that I just know
is on Twitter. And let's just be honest with you.
So I'm sitting there and again notification from Twitter comes
(21:15):
up and I'm getting tagged and I see it and
then my mom on the phone with my mom and
she says, oh, wow, you're a Player of the week.
And I was like, what are you? What are you
talking about? Mom? Why are you? First of all, where
are you getting this information from? And she's like, no,
my grandmother, who stays on Twitter. That's to her. Think
I'm thinking about this. My grandmother is always on Twitter.
That's how you know. This is the news. This is
(21:37):
how you know, Twitter has become the news. My grandmother
gets up in the morning, she wakes up four youm.
She reads the Bible and then she checks Twitter. So
it's like that's the news for her. She used to
get up in the morning, read the Bible and then
turn on the news. Shen't do that anymore. She checks Twitter.
She finds everything she needs to know there. But anyways,
she she goes out, she screams down and to her Mi, hey,
Denise Turty's one Player of the week. And then then
(22:00):
it got the post and I didn't know it was
a real thing until the Sixers posted it. And I
just remember how many times Joors wonted. So I was like, oh,
I guess this is cool. But you know, for me,
you know, they asked me in the media, what did
it mean to me to win Player of the Week?
For me, it meant that we're doing something right as
a team, as an organization. Honestly, that means we win
some games. You don't we lose, we lose two out
(22:22):
of the three games, or we get blown out in Milwaukee.
I don't think there's a chance that me nor Joe
well gets or anybody on our team gets player of
the week. Honestly, I think winning brings accolades, individual accolade,
team accolades, any type of accolade. You need to win
to be seen, you know, I mean, nobody cares you
could have seventy points. Look at it like, you know, exactly,
we had a great game, said the season high, career high,
(22:44):
I think fifty points. But you know, they didn't win,
so that nobody really kind of got swept under the rug.
Not saying that's jack anything bad about that. Becauzaly been
an unbelievable player, but winning sometimes is highlighted, not sometimes
all the time is highlighted more. And that's just how
the that's how the game is, is competitive sport. But
(23:05):
it's a great deal. You know. I'm happy. I'm happy that,
you know, I was honored to have the award. I'm
happy that, you know, the work is showing off, and
I just want to keep going out there and be
successful and helping my teammates win and putting my teammates
in the right position. I've been trying to be ultra
aggressive coach nurse Sunday to be even more aggressive, which
is funny. You know, I'm trying my best out there
(23:26):
you know, and Joe wants me to be more Tobias.
They've been on me. They just want me to like
I passed up a few shots, like, man, shoot the ball.
We see how you shoot. You know how you shoot,
we see how you work. And I've been trying to
get in the paint create for them. So it's been
great trying to they've been They've been challenging me to
rebound the ball more this year, so I've been doing
that and and mixing up with the bigs and so
that's been really great as well. Another funny thing that
(23:49):
I've been hearing a lot and seeing a lot on
the news. We're just gonna start calling Twitter. The news
that I've been seeing a lot on the news is uh,
people are talking about because we traded JJ way that
our expectations should change or we're not trying to win.
And I full hardly disagree with any of that. I mean,
(24:10):
we have Jolan beilding our team, okay, and he's in
his prime. There's never a season that we're not going
to go out there and try to win, especially with
him like he is. The it's the most competitive player
person I've ever met in my life. We were bowling.
We just had a Teava Halloween event and we were
bowling and it's not no nothing, just bowling. He was
(24:30):
bowling against coach Rico Hines and it started out as
you can't beat me and bowling. No, you can't beat me.
Nobody can. I'm the best ball ever. And Rico Hines
is like, no, I'll beat you. I'll beat you. So
they start out bowling and Joel starts out losing. And
Joel is such a he wants to win so bad
at everything he does. He takes he takes the bowling ball.
(24:52):
I'm off all off the topic. Anyways, he takes the
bowling balls and he starts juggling the balls in front
of the lane that Rico, our coach, is trying to
is trying to bowl in, and he's and Rico's like move.
He's like, I'm not gonna touch the ball. I'm just rolling.
I'm gonna get out the way. And Rico's like, Joel,
I don't want to like accidentally roll and hit your
(25:14):
He says, no, you don't have to worry about me.
Don't worry about I just roll, and then he goes
to roll his last He on the like, what's it
call O whatever, Roe tad and Joel ends up getting it.
He gets the spirit and he gets a strike, so
he catches all the way up to Rico because of that,
and now he's tied and Rico hasn't went yet, so
it's one to thirty two, one thirty two. All Rico
has to do is knock down one pin. So Joey
(25:36):
was like, He's like, all right, Joe, just let me roll,
get over, blah blah. Rico goes up to roll and
Joel sticks his you know, let's remember Joel is a
huge human being. He sticks his hand in front of
Rico mid roll. Rico shanks to like he misses the
entire every pin and knocks down zero and they tie
(25:57):
end up tying, and Joe's like, haha, I beat you.
You don't win, you lose, and it's like, anyways, I
say all this to say, if you really think that
Joel was gonna let our expectations change of winning a championship,
it's not. He doesn't care who's on his team. He's
going to go out there and he's going to beat
Joel and b he's going to expect the guys that
he's playing with to raise the level of play. So
(26:20):
I don't I highly think that. You know, people may
countess out or whatever, but our goal is still the same.
We have the same goal in mind. We are not
going to go out there and try to lose games.
We're going out there to win every single game, every
single night. And and that's just that's just what it is.
And I feel like the organization on the same page
as us, and I think our coaching staff won't let
it happen as well. Coach Nurse has installed he's been
(26:44):
he's been really good. I don't know how. He's just
been really good. He's been like a brush of fresh
air for the entire team and then for me, Like
I was telling my mom earlier today, like I have
the Aw'sbend confidence. I created my own confidence. Coach cal
is big on creating your own conference. I did all
those different things. Is because you need to be confident
from within the first But like you don't understand how
(27:07):
how good it feels. And I love Doc Doc Sam.
They also did a great job of giving me a
chance to play and be confident. But the way Nick
Nurse has done it, he's just really just installed like
this confidence in me for to go out there and
play free. You know, I'm going to make mistakes. Still young,
I'm not I haven't turned twenty three, turned twenty three
(27:27):
in a couple of days, but still young. Going to
make a couple of mistakes. I'm going to you know,
knocking well, I'm going to have you know, you have
bad shoot night, You have you know what I mean,
You have slow starts, you have those different things. You
have foul trouble, Like this is what I knew he
was confident in me. I had two fouls in the
first quarter of the Milwaukee game. I didn't have any rhythm.
It was looking like it was going to be a
long night for me. But he puts me back, He
(27:49):
takes me out and puts me back in and trust
me with two fouls, and I ended up going out
there in the second quarter and having a really good quarter,
not just for myself but for my team as well.
But internally, you need that as a player. You need
to have good moments like if I had just had
to sit the whole half, he didn't trust me to
not pick up a foul, then, like you don't know
(28:09):
where you're confidence is coming into the third quarter and
to the rest of that game and your rhythm. That's
what it was all about, rhythm. So I appreciate him
for that. That just shows how much trust and confidence
he has in the players, and I appreciate him for that.
I really do. I really do appreciate it for what
he's doing for us. He just he's opened up the
floor for us. He's opened up the mindset of Joel
to play more free, and Joe was bought in. If
(28:31):
Joel doesn't buy into any of this, none of this matters,
you know what I mean, None of this matters. Coach
Durst can want to do anything, and if Joel doesn't
buy in, at the end of the day's Joelle. So
you know what I mean. That he's bought in, which
means everybody else has to buy in. Like your leader,
your best player is bought in. Okay, you have to
rally around him. And because of that, I probish you.
(28:54):
I will get Joel on this podcast. We just last week,
you know, we lost, so he didn't do it. I'm
trying to get him in Detroit in a couple of weeks,
So stay tuned for that last thing I want to
talk about before I get out of here. Pat Bell.
He's an interesting person. But I really like Pat Bell.
I really like you know, It's the funniest thing about
(29:15):
the NBA is you have these you create these personas
about people from the outside looking in, and you probably
you know, you think, oh Pat Bell is crazy. Pat
Bell is just that Pepe. Pat Bev is probably the
most like he's like one of the best just people
in general that I've ever met. Like he knows his stuff,
(29:37):
he knows he's a great vet. Like there was a
time in film I'll talk about this a timement film
where and I won't say any names, but in the
past we've had some different different players on our team
where you know, they kind of mess with younger guys
or they kind of different things or whatever. But so
they put up the assignments for the game, the defensive assignments,
(30:00):
and Pat Bell pulls his phones out and take a picture,
and he tells Paul Reid who Pat Bell has really
been on, because you know, they play in the same group,
and Pat Bev really wants them to be successful because
we know Pee Read is good. Paul Reid get out
the money bout Paul is We know what he can do.
But Pat Bev tells him, Hey, take a picture, put
your phone out, take a picture. Study it. You should
know every call, like I have to rely on you
(30:23):
to tell me when the screen is coming, which way
I gotta go. And I just think that was so
important for not just not just Pat, but Pee Reid,
like to know, like, hey, look, I got your back.
It's nothing nothing wrong with taking the picture, nothing wrong
with being over prepared. There's nothing wrong with that. And
I shout out to Pat bed for that. But he
(30:43):
came up to me to talk to me about the
POD and he was just just throwing out different questions,
just throwing out so many questions. And the one that
he told me about was the coaching trees of the NBA.
This is how his basketball mind is. And he goes
all the way up to Greg Pops and then jumps
into the WNA started talking about beckyhand. Oh snow, oh
(31:05):
guess what Becky's in at. He's been coming to me
telling me all these different trees and like, I'm just
really happy to have Pat Bev on our team. I'm
just really happy to have one. I think he's a
great vet. I think, you know, it's sad losing PJ.
Like I said, it's sad losing PJ. But I think
Pat Bell is gonna be a great thing this year.
He's gonna be great for Philly. I think Philly's gonna
love him. He's very intense when it comes to basketball though,
(31:28):
and actual playing on the court. So shout to Pat
bed Man, shout out to the entire six Ers team.
But uh, now it's trying to go to break. You know,
when were break coming. Then I'll tell you what I'm
thankful for. We'll talk about a few games, a few
important games coming up. You know, our schedule is amazing.
Love the NBA. So we'll talk about that and we'll
(31:49):
be back and we'll close it out. All right, y'all,
we're back from break. A couple of things we're gonna
talk about. Before I get into what I'm thankful for,
(32:11):
I want to get one percent better at I'm gonna
start out with how we have some very good games
coming up. I think one of them is on our birthday.
I don't know when this will be released, but I
know that we play the Suns on my birthday. The
new look Sons I keep talking about. I talked about
it earlier, how crazy the NBA is Bradley Bell's on
(32:33):
the Suns now yu'all didn't know, and Devin Booker and
Kevin Durraant. So it's gonna be a fun That's gonna
be a fun one. They're coming in to Philly. We
play early, two one o'clock game on my birthday, so
I'll be able to play that game and then probably
grab some food, and that'll be a fun one. We
also have the team that knocked us out the playoffs
in seven games, the Boston Celtics coming into town a
(32:55):
little bit after them. I think maybe on Wednesday. I
want to say next one today, so a week from
week from that we'll have themselfs coming in. Those are
two huge games. I think those are going to test us,
you know, those those will really test us, and I
can't wait for that. Honestly, I can't wait for those tests.
You know. For me, I always try to raise my
(33:16):
level of play to the competition, you know what I mean.
I always want to raise up to the moment. I've
had some of my biggest games on the biggest stages,
So that's an early big stage. None too crazy, but
that's an early test, early big stage, kind of like
the Milwaukee game for us and just to get a
get a look at where we're at, you know what
I mean. It'll be a good, good test for us.
(33:37):
And then I want to tell you all about you
know me. I like to give back to the community.
I like to do things around Philly. I like to
do things around Garland. I am now doing. I do
this every year, but Turkey giveaway on November eleventh, and
I think it's supposed to be surprised, but I'm gonna
put this in anyway. We're supposed to be beating a
thousand families a thousand and families are going to be able,
(34:01):
and I think it's in each box or whatever however
we're going to be we're going to do it. It's
going to be six to eight families. So when you
do that math, that's a lot of people, and we
do that a lot of people. That's a lot of
people that we're trying to make happy. The holidays are
tough times. They're really really really good times, but they're
tough times as well. So you know, I always talk
(34:22):
about it. My grandma put me. My grandma told me
that I'll be in the position one day to be
able to give back to be able to put smiles
on people's faces. That's what I try to do. That's
what I'm trying to do. Man. I know that state
was Halloween, and I didn't know tricker treating started early.
This quick story, I didn't know tricky treating starts to earth.
I don't remember it starting early when I was a kid,
but they the tricker treat came at four o'clock. It
(34:45):
was still light outside. I was taking a nap and
I hear, like I napped with my blinds open. I
always have, like I have these shears that come down
and go, and they were open, and my dog roams
the house because I'm not really worried roam's house. He
wants to bark and look outside so around. I'm sleep.
I've been sleeping about an hour. I'm tired. This is
(35:06):
a great nap. I'm getting in right now. And I
hear I hear the kids walk. It's like four thirty.
I hear him walking and they're like, wait, he's in there.
We see him. And my dog is losing his mind.
Apollo is losing it. He's look like he's just barking
so loud. He's just running back and forth. The house.
I get up and I realized it's I forgot. It's
(35:28):
Halloween and it's four thirty and it gets extremely dark
in my neighborhood. So that's probably why the kids were
out early trick or treating. And Chris was gone, Brandon
was gone, both of them are gone. So they're ringing
on the doorbell. So I'm like, okay, I got I
need to get up and start passing our candy. So
when I get out, when I open up the door,
it's when I'm trying not trying to be over exact,
(35:49):
like this is serious. I'm telling my mom it's at
least fifty kids out there. It's at least it's like
four basketball teams, you know, look like it's a though.
I had I had to take a picture. I take
a video because they were great, and you know what
I mean. I just felt like my mom was like,
are you going to actually give out the candy? I
was like, yeah, I'm open the door. I'm gonna give
(36:09):
out the candy. A lot of them didn't know that
was my house, so like when I opened the door,
they were like, well, who is the what in the world?
But it's been great. Man. The neighborhood has been safe.
I love. I love when I see people, when I
see fans, I always try to say what's up. So
this Turkey giveaway is gonna be a big deal to
you know, for me as well, because like I said,
my grandma always told me to give back. It's gonna
be great. Shout out to my uncle, foundation, everybody who
(36:33):
helped me with that, and that's gonna be great. But
here we go this week. I am thankful for I'm
gonna say I'm thankful for two things. I'm thankful for
this organization and take the chance on me at twenty
one to be a part of this team, part of
(36:53):
this part of Parties franchise. You know, I'm blessed. I'm
blessed to be playing a game I love every single
day and I'm very thankful for that. And I'm also
thankful for my teammates. I'm thankful for my teammates because, honestly,
without them and these transitions that I had to go through,
that I have to go through year two with Ben,
year four with with Jage, year three with Jage coming
(37:16):
in and playing for I could not do it without them. Honestly,
without them pushing me without them being confident with me,
without them having the confidence in me to go out
there and get them the ball, score the ball, lead
a team, and then and then I'm gonna throw Dinck
Nurse in there as well. You know, I'm thankful for him,
(37:38):
and I'm thankful for his his confidence and me his
patience with me and how he's allowed me to grow
my game and allowed me to expand and do different
things like that. So those are the three things that
I'm thankful for this week, and what I want to
get one percent better at is I'm gonna say, turn
the ball over. I only turned the ball over three
times in the first three games, so that's won a game.
(38:01):
I'm gonna try to keep that low. I'm gonna try
to keep that very low because I really value my
Dad has been on me since I was a little kid.
When I value the possession of the ball. I feel
like it's extremely important when it comes to the playoffs.
And it's only like I've been on myself and Joel
about turn the ball over, and you know I can't.
I can't continue to get on Joe if I turned
(38:21):
the ball over. If I turn it over, So you know,
those are those those are what I'm thankful for, and
that's why I plan to get one percent better at
this week. But I appreciate y'all for listening. I promise y'all,
I am going to get more consistent and try to
carve out a real schedule. I really appreciate y'all tuning in, subscribing.
(38:42):
Gonna have Joel on here, I'm gonna have a couple
of other people on here, and it's been great. Thank
y'all for listening, Thank you all for subscribing. Match you
on the mic out
