Speaker 1 (00:00):
I must.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Okay, oh ya. It is said that the beauty of
the British women and the blandness of the British food
made the British the best sailors in the world. Why
is that, guys. It's all about looking for spice. It's
(00:25):
all about looking for heat. And if you've stumbled on
this podcast for the first time, or you're returning for
the fiftieth time, because you've been with us from the start,
it's because you come here because nowhere else in Fantasy
football can you get this spice. This is the hot
Takes episode. If you want bland, go elsewhere. I am
so excited because Dylan, you have been with me since
(00:46):
day one. Last year, it was on this Spicy episode
you said Justin Fields would not be a top ten
quarterback by the end of the Fantasy year. We laughed
at you, we ridiculed you, Spicy, but you were correct.
It was I who said that Jordan Love would be
a top ten Dynasty QB by the end of the season,
and I was correct in my spicy take. Thomas, you're
(01:07):
joining us for the first time. So excited to have
you on the episode. Guys. Fun fact East India Trading Company,
British spice Company, biggest monopoly, the world's ever seen, most wealth.
They were basically the strongest nation launch wars. It's just
fun little history fact. Are we all? Are we all
craving a little flavor in our life? Isn't that what
it's all about? You know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Right? I mean, I'm convinced at this point between George
Pickens and your other you know, delusional takes. Sometimes you
do more research for that intro than you do for
your actual takes. Because what did you say? What Trading What?
East Coast? What trading Company?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
East India Trading Company. They're the bad guys in the
Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It's a real company.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Oh you know me the movies.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Look up the Opium Wars in China. They literally it's
it's insane. They're they're just incredibly powerful company. But it
all started because the British were like, our food is crappy.
I'm not saying anything about the women, it's just that's
that's what the quote. The quote is what it is.
But yeah, I mean the British got off their island
and we're like, man, this spicy stuff. Let's get to India.
Let's let's go find spice and then the world as
(02:11):
we know what happens, Industrial revolution, all because we're all
looking for heat, Dylan, We're all looking.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
For like listen, I agree, and all jokes aside. This
is one of my favorite shows because you know, we
do super spicy takes and when they work out, it's great.
But otherwise we got egg in our face.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Thomas, how do you feel knowing this is a big
episode for us? Okay, we my guys, we plant our
flag on the players we believe in. This is where
we swing for the fences to hit home runs. Are
you feeling a little nervous in the batter's box for
the first time as an analyst, as a fantasy football entertainer,
just you know, letting everyone know the crazy that you
have going on?
Speaker 3 (02:45):
You know, Oh hell no, no, no, no. I'm from
New Orleans, you know. So spicy is a two favorite.
That's my taste. That's my taste, Bud, I give me
more spice. I love it, so I just like you know,
I I am all. I've always been all my life
addicted to people and their hot takes of the NFL
(03:06):
season and just throwing everything against the wall all alike
metrics and analytics and knowledge or whatever that we so
used to abiden by, and saying this is gonna happen,
and I'm planting the flag on it, and I'm saying
this from the bottom of my heart, and if it
comes true, grant me king baby.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
No, it's it's fun to swing for the fences man.
And that's really I saw you. Speaking of quest, I
saw another one that was kind of making its rounds
on Sleeper and some of these other quote places. It
said like seventy percent of fantasy football is like dissing
your friends takes and telling them that they don't know ball.
And this is that episode, Like this is jener that episode,
because listen, we're not that we're trying to get egg
(03:46):
on our face, but we're trying to swing so hard
that we're either a champion, a superstar, or there's there's
obviously going to be egg on our face. So excited
to get to that. But like any great meal, we
have to start with the appetizers. We have to have
a sim wins of kind of getting to that spot.
We can't just hit you right away with the hobb
and arrow heat. We gotta go through the question.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Question, yeah, question before before we move off of the
food and all those analogies. What is your favorite hot sauce?
What does y'alls go to hot sauce? Josh, what's your
favorite hot sauce?
Speaker 2 (04:15):
I don't know that I have a favorite hot sauce
per se. I mean it would probably be like the
Jolopano sauce from which is not that hot. It's just
it can blend with a lot of different things from
Trader Joe's. But I actually like actual hot peppers, like
I think I can.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
That's on brand, dude.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
First and foremost, that is the pot calling the kettle black.
You live your family.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Family show, Thomas, what's us? There's only one right answer here.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
It's Tabasco.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Man, Come on, Tabasco. I'm a Louisiana hot sauce guy.
I love hot sauce. I could eat it on anything
and everything.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
That's my last resort.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Oh really?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Oh yeah, man, I can.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
I grew up on that. I could get with any
of that. Okay, so we got out the food stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
I'm not a big condiments guy. I gotta be honest.
I do authentive flavors. I do what you dude, where
were your groceryes bought last time you went out grocery shopping.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I married a white woman, so I went to Trader Joe's.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Is such a cop out. That is such You're just dumb. Anyway,
we got to move on to the news. You gotta
move on to news. Speaking of going shopping, Jerry Jones,
that is, finally opened the wallet and spent some money
on a very good receiver. CD Lamb gets the bag.
I believe one hundred and thirty six million, four year deal,
(05:41):
thirty eight million as a signing bonus, the most ever
for a non QB Dylan. As Cowboys fans, this feels great.
This is not a player we need to move on from.
If even if we're rebuilding, you can get rid of Dack,
but my lord, keep CD around. So if we're gonna
use a different quarterback, maybe Trey Lance with his five interceptions.
Just kidding, by the way, but gotta keep CD. Huge
for dynasty owners, huge for you know, fantasy fans. It's
(06:03):
this is good news for everybody, am I right?
Speaker 3 (06:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:05):
I mean you could just breathe a sigh of relief
as a CD Lamb fan because you just or manager,
because you just didn't know. I don't think he would have.
Maybe he would have held out, but things were getting tense,
and then you know, Jerry opened his mouth to this press,
and from there it was like, oh, boys, is he
gonna is he gonna screw this up? I kind of
had confidence from the beginning that the priority was Cede
(06:27):
Lamb over Dak Prescott. I knew that Ceedee Lamb was
going to be the priority, and I'm glad that we
locked him in. We talked about it a little bit
on a few shows back about Dak Prescott, who suffers
more if we if Dak loses CD. CD was his Dak,
And it really is CD is the more important piece there.
You want CD there and build around him. And so
I'm glad the deal got done. Second highest played, non paid,
(06:49):
non QB, I mean, just well deserved. He is the
second best wide receiver to me. I know people will
say Chase Ceede Lamb to me in the NFL is
the second best wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
I don't. I don't think you're wrong to make that argument,
Thomas Dak Prescott. I mean, can you speculate, being the
non biased person here, do you think Dak is also
gonna get a deal on top of this. Is this
good news for him? I mean, obviously it's good news
for him for this season, But do you think Dak
stays in Dallas now? The CDs their long term. It's
just gonna be one after the other.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
I think we're gonna be waiting until the you know,
the last day of the like, I think we'll be
waiting until the end of the season to see what
Jerry Jones does with Dak. I don't think we'll see
a contract before then, even if they start out hot.
I don't know what the stipulations are on, like when
the contract negotiations have to end when the season is
(07:40):
going on. But I think Jerry Jones is gonna keep
all his cars close to the chest and he's gonna
wait and see what Dak Prescott does. And if he
can win a couple of playoff games bare minimum, then
he will say Dak is my guy. But until then,
he needs to see something and he wants proof that
Dak belongs in Dallas. Else I think he's just gonna
(08:01):
go and buy get somebody else.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I think the only thing that can save Dak is
a Super Bowl. If I'm being completely honest, just knowing
how Jerry Jones operates, because if they get to the playoffs,
he's done that already. Even if he wins a playoff game,
I don't think that's gonna be safe enough for him.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I don't think that I think he could conference finals.
I think they got to get to the conference finals
and and have a good showing there, because that's just
something they haven't done. They haven't won a divisional game
since the nineties. That's been the issue. We won some
wild guard games, we've lost him. The reason I bring
it up to is simply because Dak I think about
Russell Wilson. Russell Wilson when he went to the Broncos.
(08:36):
I was that year I picked the Broncos to win
the Super Bowl, you know, from a like a betting
perspective the most because I was like, Russell Wilson's a
great KB.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
The only are coming off of the Tom Brady transfer
and everyone's correct.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
And also Matt Stafford, like there is a you know,
Peyton Manning went to the Broncos and he didn't do
it right away, but like there is kind of a
calculus or an algorithm, if you will, if you take
a veteran QB who seems like he's you know, a
you know, repeat pro bawl or borderline all pro, and
you put him in a new situation. It's hard at thirty, right,
(09:07):
Dak will be north of thirty if he moves on
to another team. It really depends on landing spot a
lot of question marks. Certainly not panicking with him.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
But let's get to another I just want to say,
I think if he makes it to the championship game
that has a good outing and it's not his fault
that they lose, he'll he'll be extended. And if he
just gets to the super Bowl, he's definitely got a cut.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Well yeah, no, I think we all agree on that.
Let's move on to another wide receiver who still doesn't
have a deal. Brandon Ayuk has not signed with this
the forty nine ers. He has not been traded. It
is limbo. It is selfish. It feels like you guys
remember the Key and Peel spit where it was like
Megan your jacket. Like he's constantly following this girl to
(09:48):
try to give her her jacket and she's like, no,
I don't want it, And the moment you look away,
she like looks back and he's like and it's like,
that's how I feel with Brandon Ayuk. It's like, dude,
what are you negotiating for at this point? Like are
you guys negotiating over day? Like what you can wear
to Like I have no idea, And it's annoying because
I've you know, this close to the season. It feels
(10:09):
frantic and something I would expect no matter what, no
matter what team he plays for this season, if he
plays the season, which I believe he will, I believe
I expect to slow start. The guy's not going to
be in football shape. He's not going to be in
the preseason shape. Don't know if we have a lot
to add, but we do have to touch on it
simply because it just hasn't happened yet.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Yeah, I guess I'll add. I just don't really know
what he's looking for. And that's not really a fantasy take.
It's just interesting to know that, Like he has trade
scenarios that he's turned down that have more money, but
he's in San Francisco where they're winning, but he doesn't
want to take their conscience. It's like, I don't really
know what he wants it. Does he want to win.
Does he want money, does he want what does he want?
Does he want to be the guy like? It doesn't
(10:48):
really I don't really know, but.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'll turn it into a fantasy take. I remember when
Antonio Brown was acting weird on the Steelers right before
he went to the Raiders, and then when he went
to the Raiders, people were like, well, he's gonna be
fine for fantasy, and for me, I was like, I'm
out because he seems like an unpredictable guy. Now I'm
by no means saying that Brandon Ayuk is anywhere close
to the behavior of Antonio Brown. But if you are
strange and we can't understand your motors, I mean lev
(11:11):
Bell who went to Miami, It's like, dude, I want
nothing to do with that. In fantasy, I've learned. I
remember trading for to Sean Watson this season. Allegations came
out like I traded him back immediately. As a Dynasty manager, especially,
there is nothing worse than the ticking time bomb because
you can't really trade it. You don't know what's market value.
Brandon Ayuk is a solid Just hunker down and hold
(11:32):
right now in Dynasty, Thomas, what would be the price
let's say you're the AYU owner that you'd be willing
to separate from him right now, provided you could be
losing the upside he stays with the Niners.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Ooh uh, I would say, right now, it's no less
than a first and some change. And I'm thinking maybe
a first denis maybe two first. I'm thinking two first
minimum because I don't want to give him away in
case he does stay with the San Francisco forty nine.
And if he does stay, then his value will you know,
it will increase or at least stay at board level.
(12:06):
But I think if you sell him now, you're selling
them low because of the uncertainty. And I think the
reason that Brandon and I the deal has taken so
long while he's turned down these offers. So there's two factors.
His efficiency will was out of out of this world
last year. I don't think he can repeat that statistically.
(12:26):
It's gonna his efficiency is gonna take a hit, and
that's gonna happen. That's gonna cause a ripple effect in
his negotiation because whoever he negotiates with next season, if
it's not the forty nine ers, or if it is
the forty nine ers, it's going to be a problem
because they're gonna look at the last year and say,
why didn't you do what you did the year previously?
Now he did. Now he turned down the Patriots and
(12:49):
the Steelers, right, So if he turned down those two teams,
what's the common denominator quarterback situations? He wants to go
to a place where he can get a quarterback that
he that he believes in, and also get the money
that he thinks he deserves. He's using his leverage to
the best of his ability right now because I don't
think he believes that he can repeat what he did
(13:10):
last year.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yeah, that's as concisive an opinions I've heard on it.
I actually I love that idea. That helps bring some
clarity to me. But I still don't like it. It
still seems weird. I can't make head or tails of it.
I am out before we move on, just any last
preseason takeaways from you guys, Dylan, you know, I know
he's been your guy. You've been to Drake may True
through the entire time. A bit of news as well
(13:33):
as hype here Jacoby Brissett gets injured at the end
of preseason. We don't know how bad the injury is,
doesn't seem like it's serious. Is there a possibility of
Drake May starting Week one? And as a Drake May fan,
do you want that to happen? Because Drake May looked
awesome in his preseason finale and I did want to
make note of it because it's someone you've been waving
the flag for for quite some time, you.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Know who this reminds me of? Or what situation this
reminds me of? One Tyrod Taylor getting injured. That was
a freaking accident, him getting injured and paving the way
for a Justin Herbert to get into the game before he.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Was Tyrod was assassinated. The moment has done so dirty.
Let's let's be clear.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
That was.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
No versa sack. No dude, no, they they they almost
they collapsed alung, they were doing like that is if
I'm Tyrod Taylor, I am suing everyone. I'm like this
was a consiracy. I'm so pressed, Like are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Like yeah, like what No? But I think jokes asiety.
It is a similar situation, right, I mean it's one
of those injuries paves away for someone to start. I'm
Drake May is my QB two. You know, at first
he was my QB one of the rookie class, of
the rookie sorry, the rookie class, Yes, thank you. Jayden
Daniels is still my QB one. Drake made my QB two,
(14:50):
and I think if this guy gets out there, you're
going to see him make some boneheaded throws. Sure, but
the amount of talent that he has was on display,
and I get it was a his backups, But he
went out there and dibble he was supposed to do
against quote unquote backups.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
He ran the offense efficiently, he looked good, he made throws,
he was He made that one run up the middle
where he just pumped, faked and went for it. I
think there's a sneaky upside to Drake May's rushing ability
that's being kind of looked down on, similar to Justin Herbert.
I do think that he can be a very effective starter,
even if he gets thrown out there right away. Now,
(15:26):
the one thing that concerns me is the weapons. But
I think Pop Douglas Jalen Polk, once they kind of
get going, Hunter Henry should be a sound group. Hopefully
romndre out of the backfield, Romandre to the backfield. But
I'm just I'm stoked on Drake May. I think he's
going to be everything as advertised. And I think even
if he gets out there early quote unquote, he's gonna
do just fine. All the Joe Milton talk, we've seen
(15:47):
what Joe Milton is. He's a raw prospect. Don't worry
about him. Drake May is going to be a stud,
all right, man.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
I gotta tell you, man, I've been watching him the
last couple of weeks. I'm starting to become a big fan.
I was not necessarily so high on him. I thought
he needed some seasoning. He might still need some season
let's be wrong. We all need maybe, But I think
that dude has got it. It's just the eye test, man,
(16:13):
it just looks like he is. He's doing stuff that
a lot of quarterbacks cannot do, and that is like
just be special in his skill set, and I think
that he has the talent. Man.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
There was a throw that was called back for penalty.
I don't believe he was. It was rolling to his
left across the body like you know. I was making
fun of the Caleb Williams thw to roam like We've
never seen a quarterback do this, and people instantly like,
here's Bryce Young in preseason last year, here's justin Fields
like every other game that Drake maythrow. I was like,
(16:47):
I don't see a lot of people. I don't see
that that just justin Fields isn't doing that throw.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
I don't think. Yeah, that was a phenomenal throw. That throw.
And then two ago when his throw that Javon Baker
dropped down the middle, just that beauty, just ah and
it was a tough catch. But man, that pass. I'm
telling you, he he has got a phenomenal arm and
I think he's just gonna the throws that he makes
(17:14):
in the game is going to to make him set
himself apart from the rest of the people.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
And he says that I thought he's athletic, for sure.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
He's sneaky. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Before we move off the Patriots, Worth noting Juju Smith
Schuster was cut by the Patriots and he was re
signed by the Chiefs, I actually moved. I think there's
some wave I know, but I think there's a veteran
presence in the receiver room he can be I think
he's in a deeper league. In sixteen team league, Dylan,
he's worth the way he's worth a waiver pick up. Yeah,
because he's better than Kadarius Tony, He's better than Sky Moore,
(17:48):
and I think he could be good for, you know,
an emergency start in a deeper league. Let's take a
quick break, and I'm excited to jump into all the
hot takes right after this. You know, he built up
a lot of hype to this segment, so I hope
that time will reveal it was worth it. So I
want to start out with something. You know, I think
(18:09):
there's a lot of fulfillment to be had. There's a
lot of unmet expectations, specifically from last season, and I
don't know what our exact numbers and how many people
from New York, specifically Jets fans listen to this show,
but I want to tell you, guys, I'm so sorry
about last year. But I got good news because my
first hot take is this, The Jets are going to
(18:30):
win the Super Bowl, and more importantly for fantasy listeners,
Garrett Wilson is going to be the wide receiver. One guys,
I think we forget how hyped we were on Garrett Wilson,
the number one, No, No, the I've got Dylan. I
know you hate numbers and data and actual facts. I
prepared some of that for you. It goes well with
(18:52):
the spice. But I mean, I just want to like
remind everybody how hypes we were for Aaron Rodgers on
the Jets this time last year. Hard Knocks was there.
The prediction was like the there was Oz Melison, he goes, oh,
you guys are gonna play the forty nine ers in
the Super Bowl. It was great, Like everyone thought the
Jets were gonna be spectacular. And I think those expectations,
similar to what we've talked about our concern for Kateleb Williams,
(19:14):
also a Hard Knocks team, you know, kind of sank them.
And obviously it really came down to Aaron Rodgers Achille.
At the end of the day, that offense was the
worst in the league, and Garrett Wilson still boasted ninety
five catches for over one thousand yards but only three touchdowns.
So really, how does how does Garrett Wilson take the
(19:34):
leap to become a wide receiver one or the wide
receiver one overall? Well, I just wanted to look at
what the numbers were for you know, Aaron Rodgers' most
famous last wide receiver one, which was Davonte Adams. It's
been a while since he's had him, but I looked
at the data between twenty nineteen and twenty twenty one,
which is where Davante Adams was in his prime. Still
had good years in twenty eighteen, but she still had
(19:55):
Jordan Neilson there. So I didn't think this situation was
the same because much like Davante in Green Bay, Remember,
Aaron Rodgers was frustrated all those years. He didn't have
another weapon, so he kept throwing to Devonte Adams. Davante
Adams from twenty nineteen to twenty twenty one was averaging
over a thirty percent target share, really really simple. In
that time, he finishes the wide receiver three overall the
(20:17):
wide receiver twenty four. Now keep in mind that was
only twelve games played, so on a points per game basis,
he was still top five. He was the wide receiver
one and then the wide receiver three. Davante Adams had
two things. He was an incredible route runner, Aaron Rodgers
trusted him, and he was the only game in town.
Let me ask you if these three things still check
the boxes here's the best news about this hot take.
(20:39):
Garrett Wilson already has a thirty percent target share on
the Jets, and they've added Mike Williams. That's not going
to do anything to take away from that target share.
He already had one hundred and sixty six targets last year,
so he doesn't have to go up astronomically in target share.
We just need a different quarterback to give him those targets.
The other part of the great news is Aaron Rodgers trust.
(21:00):
We have seen nothing in preseason, but their relationship developed
them arguing on the sideline and then torching other teams.
As that those arguments have turned into clarified, you know,
strategies for them to go and dominate defenses. I think
Garrett Wilson is going to be hyper targeted because there's
no one else in town. Aaron Rodgers doesn't have to
be you know, he doesn't have to be what he
(21:21):
was of old for Garrettilson to be special. But by
the way, guess baked into this upside if they just
win the Super Bowl, what if Aaron Rodgers is still
that dude? This was an arm talent quarterback the entire
time Yes he's athletic, Yes he uses his legs, but
it's not like he's Lamar Jackson scrambling all over the place.
This dude can hit you know, every throw, read every coverage.
(21:42):
I think Garrett Wilson is in for a special season.
I think the Jets are in for a special season.
And I love that the spotlight has been off of
them all of preseason. Gentlemen, that is my spicy atwofa
served up fresh Jets Jets, I believe.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
I mean, I definitely think that's a hot take because
a lot of that rides on Aaron Rodgers and the
assumption that Aaron Rodgers is still Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (22:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Man, I don't know. The Jets have such a bad
stigma around that franchise just when it comes to QB.
I mean, I'm not, I can't. I'm not a fan
of it. It's a hot take for a reason because
you have a strong opinion about it, and a lot
has to go right for that to be the case.
But the wide receiver one overall, I mean you're hoping
he scratches top twelve. I mean that dude's got to
(22:29):
get there at top fifteen. He's got to get there first,
Like I mean, you're you're not wrong about that.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
And so my.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Biggest I'll tell you this, my biggest concern, my biggest
concern is it's going to be the Brease Hall Show.
Robert Saila sala is always wanting to play defense and
run the ball, and I get Aaron Rodgers. He's gonna
get his throws in and he's gonna run the offense.
But I do not think that Aaron Rodgers is the
Aaron Rodgers of old, and I think he has regressed,
and I think that's going to disappoint. I think Garrettilson
(22:55):
could be a top fifteen option, but the wide receiver
one overall not buying. It not buy and it's too
hot for me.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
I don't mind it. I don't mind it. I really don't.
So we know Aaron Rodgers likes to lock in on
his best guy. We know that that's that's a given.
Who's his best guy. It's Garrett Wilson. I mean, you
could make the arguments for like the Tyler Conklins of
the world and the Mike Williams and the Malaka Gibson,
(23:27):
the full Right Ralph Freezevi Gibson. You could make an
argument that all those people are gonna be involved, but
I don't buy it. I believe it's Garrett Wilson and
Breize Hall and that'll be it all season law, and
you'll see him chucking it and throwing perfect placement balls
to Garrett Wilson because nobody can cover that man. Nobody
(23:48):
on this planet can cover this man one on one.
I don't care who you are. The only person that
probably could cover him is on his team. It's sauce guard.
So my point in saying that is, I don't think
that's so far fetched because we know that he will
pepper someone with targets. We saw with demonte Adams, We've
seen it with Jordan Nelson. We've seen it all time
and time again. Aaron Rodgers doesn't have to throw for
forty five hundred yards to have a receiver in the
(24:12):
top five. So to be number one, Garret Wilson is
in his third season. This is his prime. This is
gonna start his prime, kickstart his prime. And he's never
played like Josh Mintioned. He's never played with a quarterback
this good, and he still had ninety receptions. I don't
see why you can't have one hundred and nineteen hundred
and twenty.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Guys, let me just ask you this question, Dylan, how
many touchdowns do you think Aaron Rodgers throws conservatively?
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Like average?
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, no, this, no, not average. I'm just saying on
the Jets this show.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
So do I think he throws on this? I would
say I'll give him like anywhere between twenty two to
twenty five.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Okay, that's pretty low, right, you'd agree, Yeah, Okay, twenty
two is twice the amount of touchdowns they threw last
year as a team. They threw eleven. Okay, that's how
bad it was. And so even if Aaron Rodgers that,
by the way, that would be the worst passing touchdown
season Aaron Rodgers has ever had in his career, Dylan,
and it would still be more than enough for Garrett
Wilson to get there. That's why. Yeah, why does ever
(25:11):
one overall? Okay, it's spicy. Yeah, you're beating out Cedee Lamb. Yeah,
you're beating out Tyreek Hill. But name me another player
outside of the top five that has a path to
do it that is as clear as Garrett Wilson. Thankfully,
we're all just off the hype train because we were
so disappointed last year. That's why I believe in this take.
I believe in Dynasty. If you believe in him, he's
(25:31):
worth the spend up because I do think he can
go and be in that tier with Jamar CD and Jettas.
I think it's worth it. Dylan, I've spoken enough. Takeover,
what's your hot take?
Speaker 1 (25:43):
And you know it was a perfect segue bringing up
the quarterbacks that have thrown to Garrett Wilson.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Right.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
One of those quarterbacks was Zack Wilson. You know Zach Wilson.
We remember him the number two overall pick a few
years ago out of Utah State, and you know, he
just had that one throw at the combine where he
was just rolling out and just launched it and everyone's like,
oh my, this guy is freaking awesome, jumps all the
way up draft boards and gets taken number two overall. Now,
(26:11):
granted Trey Lance was taken right after him. It was
a garbage draft overall, right, But my point in saying
Zach Wilson, my take has nothing to do with Zach Wilson.
My take has a lot to do with Zach Wilson.
Two point zero, and that's Caleb Williams. That is Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams has made all these throws wowing people against
the back, like, let me just throw. We just saw
(26:33):
this past weekend, Zach Wilson made one of the most
beautiful throws and it was just right in the bread
basket of the wide receiver. He made a phenomenal I mean,
if Caleb Williams makes that throw, it's all over Twitter,
all over Twitter. Everyone's Oh, Caleb Williams is gonna be
QB three overall this season and he's gonna break this
record that No. I've had enough. I've had enough. This
(26:56):
is my show to plant my flag on the fact
that Caleb Williams is not going to finish as a
top fifteen QB this year. You guys can just those
of you that are talting, how Caleb Williams is the
next coming of Patrick Mahome. It's I've had enough. I
get it on paper. He's got Roma doons A, He's
got DJ Moore, He's got Keenan Now and Cole Kamet,
Gerald Everett, DeAndre Swift. I don't care. They're going to
(27:20):
run the ball a lot more than you think. And
Caleb Williams is not a He is not where he
needs to be as a professional quarterback, and he's going
to make dumb throws. He's going to hold the ball
too long, he's going to try to run around, and
defenses are going to shut him down. I do not
think that he's going to be this top we talked
about a few weeks back. You guys had him top
ten right dynasty, top ten dynasty QB. No shot, no shot,
(27:43):
no shot. I do not consider him a top ten
dynasty in this season. There's he's not even gonna scratch.
He's not even to scratch top fifteen. I would be.
I won't even put my money on him finishing top
twenty at the QB position. I just think he is
going to He's going to be He's not going to
pan out, and it's going to be panic. He's gonna
hold his value because everyone's gonna be go.
Speaker 2 (28:02):
It was his first year.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
He was just learning the game, and no people are
gonna give him the out. I'm not giving him the out.
I'm not giving him the out. He is Zach Wilson
two point oh. He can make some pretty throws when
no one's watching. When he's playing the backups, and that's
and he's gonna He just has a lot more hype
around him. He's more of a he's more of a
brand for himself. He's got the painted nails and the
phone case and everyone thinks it's hip and cool. He's
(28:25):
Zach Wilson. He's Zach Wilson. Two point Oh, I rest
my case. Let me hear it, fellas.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Now we cook it with guess.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Let's go, Tomas, how let you respond to that?
Speaker 3 (28:35):
First? Oh? Man? Oh, where do I begin? Josh? I'm man,
I've got lost words for Clint. Listen. Uh, dude, I
don't I don't even know what to be getting so
to say he won't be even top twenty with those
weapons around him and the system that they put in
place for him, it's kind of mind blowing me. Heah,
(29:00):
I don't know what he's done to piss you off. Dylan. Uh,
this is.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
The way Dylan get changed on him. I think it
was the I think it was the painted nails, because
Dylan changed you literally said he was a generational talent
that second show.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
It was last year before the college football season, and
then watched and it changed but a new ways. Yes,
keep going.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
I'm just oh, okay, so I he So we we
agree he has the tools? Right? Do we agree that
he has the tools the skill set to play quarterback? Dylan?
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Okay with Keenan Allen, who is a quarterback's dream. I
don't care how much he weighs. He wait two fifty.
I still I'm still betting on Key tight end? Yeah,
playing tight end? Whatever? You got Dj Moore? Who? I
mean Justin Fields? Do we trust Justin Fields at this point?
And Dj Moore racked up one hundred plus receptions thirteen
(30:00):
hundred yards, made the Pro Bowl, Like, I don't think
he's gonna get worse? Uh? And you got Rom Doomsay,
who any other year would be the number one receiver.
They are building this offense around him, the running backs,
the DeAndre Swifts of the world. He just has too many.
I don't see him being able to be so bad
(30:22):
that he can't be a top twenty player with all
those weapons around him. I don't think I can think
of any other quarterback that's had this type of this
type of situation that didn't at least become a quarterback
top fifteen player. I just I don't know what it begins.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
We're falling in love with this. We're falling way too
much in love with the situation. I mean, the players
on the field are great. He's still got Shane Waldron
as his offensive coordinator, which if you don't remember Shane Waldron,
go back and look at Seattle's offense last year. I
mean js N hates him, literally threw him under the bus,
and I mean, yeah, I sat here in this very
(30:59):
same a year ago and talked about one Justin Fields,
I said, I brought it up, I talked about the situation.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
I mean, he's one for one. He's bad in a thousand.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
No no, no, no, no, no, no no. I'm saying this
because it was, Oh, wow, you're crazy. He's got the
rushing up side, He's.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I haven't. I've had enough. I can't.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
Don't you mentioned Shane Waldront. You know Kellen Moore. Do
we think he's a good offensive coordinator?
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Yeah, you're fantasy Last year he was.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
Last year his team was trash. His team was trash.
One of the worst situations for any fantasy team in
the league. If you had somebody on that team that
wasn't keenan Allen, then you were just not happy with
Kellen Moore. I'm not saying that Shane Waldron and Kellen
Moore the same, don't get me wrong, But I'm saying
sometimes situations can bring out the best in people once
(31:51):
you get the players around you that you need or
want to actually coach, or who are receptive to coaching.
So I wouldn't necessarily just say Shane Walden is gonna
be you know, Darth Vader and like create this like
this this system that just won't work anywhere just because
he had a bad yun of Seattle.
Speaker 2 (32:14):
I I agree that there's more warning signs than is
being promoted, certainly in the media, and that's a huge part.
At the Dynasty player. You have to pay attention to
what players have that hype wave, because when is their keep, trade,
cut value, or their overall value in people's minds gonna
(32:34):
outweigh with their production not just for this year, but
their career going to be. Here's where I agree with
your take, Dylan, and I'm glad that you made it
spicier by saying not even top twenty. It is so difficult.
It is so difficult for rookie quarterbacks to finish just
in the top fifteen I went on last year to
talked about c J. Stroud barely got in. He was
the QB eleven over fifteen games played last year, and
(32:56):
that is such a rarity. We have not seen that.
I think Kyler Murray got to fifteen, Justin Herbert, who
broke records. It is so difficult rookie quarterbacks for the
most part, just don't do it for fantasy purposes because listen,
you're gonna rely on the run game. It's hard to
throw touchdowns in the league. That's something you have to
learn how to do. I think that where you win
me over the most, though, is I agree Shane Waltern's
(33:17):
I don't believe a good offensive coordinator. Chicago doesn't seem to.
There's just some franchises that, you know, just like Green
Bay gets it right with quarterback, Chicago gets it wrong
with quarterback.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
And listen, we're not coordinator.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Yeah that too. We're nothing if not superstitious, you know
what I mean. That's what sports fans ultimately are. We
love vibes, you know, like we can be logical all
we want. I don't think Caleb Williams is I don't
know whether he's going to be a bust I don't
know whether he's going to succeed for fantasy purposes, I
have very little expectations for year one, even though he
is in a great situation. And I will say, if
(33:50):
he doesn't have a crazy good rookie year, I wouldn't.
I would think that he's going to lose some market value.
I really do. I think people are going to start
to wake up, and I think it could turn negative.
And if Chicago has a rough year and doesn't make
the playoffs, which could totally happen in my opinion, it
may get dangerous really quick because people are gonna start
jumping ship. It seems like the head coach and you know,
(34:12):
the GM have put all their chips on Caleb Williams
working out, and so if he doesn't in year one,
if they don't go to playoffs in year one, it
could get ugly in Chicago quickly for Caleb Williams.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
You think so, you think Caleb Williams is in trouble
if he doesn't have a good, a great No.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
What I'm saying is that Here's what I'm saying is,
look look at Trevor Lawrence. Right, If you have a
bunch of changeover for quarterback. I mean, Matt Ryan throughout
his career is kind of well documented. He very very
rarely did Matt Ryan ever have a repeat offensive coordinator.
He had it like twice, and the two times he
did he was like either the quarterback one in fantasy
or a quarterback too. It is really you know, Baker
(34:49):
Mayfield had this problem as well. Baker Mayfield, Dude, we
were stoked on Baker after his rookie season. He sets
the touchdown record? How can you go wrong? Freddy Kitchens
and then the Browns just seemed to bumble it and
get it wrong. Dysfunction gets in with Freddie Kitchens. Next
thing you know, Baker goes from probably a top five
dynasty QB at the time to like, is this guy
ever going to start again? What I'm saying is is
(35:10):
if the Chicago regime who is in power now does
not succeed early with Caleb because they got rid of
a capable starter in Justin Fields moved on. Remember they
were a seven to ten team. This was not a
team that was winless and had like they are a
win now team with a rookie QB. It's a very
weird and a very rare situation. I think he's got
(35:31):
to perform really well, really early, and if he doesn't,
I think Hebrew Lewis is getting canned. Okay, now you
got a new head coach, probably a new coordinator. You're
starting again, bad habits, creep in, it's narrative street, I
get it. But Dylan was right last time. So I'm
just a hater on Caleb Williams. I'll let you rebuttal
and then we can move on because it's your take.
Speaker 3 (35:48):
I just want to make just one last comment about that.
I don't we have to if you're saying Caleb Williams
and like the whole like you know, empire is going
to fall and the head coach might get fired and
all of that stuff. We got to remember, though we
talk in fantasy, if we're talking like real life, that
defense is elked. It is an elite defense, yep, if
(36:10):
you could, and it will keep them in games. He
will not have to win every game. So I think
he's gonna win games and be in a position keep
the Bears in a position where they don't have to
fire everyone. I mean, maybe they make some changes if
things don't go one hundred percent. You knows as well
as they think it's gonna go, but I think it's
(36:31):
gonna be minor tweaks because that defense is so solid.
It's gonna give him short fields, it's gonna give him
opportunities to run the ball at the end of the game,
and he won't have to be in so many positions
where rookie quarterbacks usually fail. Is like in the games
last minute drives, trying to come back when you're down
twenty points, stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
I mean, all the time, point one last thing. I
will say this, Caleb Williams has a better chance at
keeping his job and being actual NFL relevant. My take
is purely fantasy of like, he is not going to
produce what people are thinking putting him as a top
ten dynasty quarterback. It's I just don't see the fruit
(37:14):
coming from a actual fantasy standpoint. I just and I
get it the weapons blah blah, because I think it's
going to be low passing volume, and I don't think
he's going to be efficient enough to be a top twenty,
top ten, especially not a top ten guy. It's just
he's not going to outthrow any of those top ten quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
I agree with that wholeheartedly. It's hard for rookies anyway,
and Thomas to your point, if they're gonna win, it's
gonna be through defense. Thomas, take us to a new
take your first of the spice on the night.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
Do it here it put that spice on it, all right.
So in the year Our Lord twenty twenty four, Joe
Burrow come on and Patrick Mahomes will throw not thirty
(38:04):
not thirty five, but oh wait not forty, but both
throw for forty five touchdown passes.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
As a Jamar Chase fan, I say, Hellelujah, yes, certain right,
keep coming talk to me.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
I mean, let me talk about these weapons. First of all,
first and foremost, you got Chase Higgins. You got Yoshibast
who everybody was so hyped about, had that big ross
score when he came into the draft. They were like,
he was such a steal. We saw we saw flashes
of him last year. Now he's the wide receiver. Three.
(38:40):
You throw in Jermaine Burton, who's coming off the bench,
who looks like an absolute steal in the third round.
At this point, you gotta run a game that's in flux.
Right now. We know Chase Brown is a pretty good back.
We all, I think we all believe Chase Brown is
gonna be better and it's gonna be good for this offense.
Zach Moss, do we really trust him Indianapolis? Yeah, he
(39:01):
had a good run. I mean, but that's a weak division.
You gotta you gotta play Steelers this year. You gotta
play the Ravens this year. Like it's gonna be and
it's gonna all be Joe Burrow winning games for the
Bengals this year. It's gonna be on his shoulders. And
he has the weapons, and he also has the motivation.
He's come out several times and says that he wants
(39:23):
to show the world this year that he's back. So
I believe that Joe Burrow is gonna do everything in
the humanly possible to be back in that elite conversation
of quarterbacks. If people aren't talking about him like they
used to. Patrick Mahomes, I mean, I could Kelsey Worthy Brown,
Rashi Rice, like, you know, they got second and first
(39:47):
round picks that are you know, stuck in you know,
the sixth spot on the bench, you know, and Kadarius
Tony and Skoy Moore that will probably play for other teams.
And you don't forget ju Ju Smith Schuster. Guys, let's
not forget him. You know, we at least get some tiktoks,
you know.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
So the Welsh rugby player as well.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
No, but Patrick Mahomes is set up to succeed. And
I think he's also got a chip on his shoulder.
Last year was not his finest hour, right in the
regular season, at least defense won the championship. He ended
up winning the MVP in the Super Bowl, but they
won like you know, they score like twenty something points
and San Francisco did a great job of defending them
(40:31):
all season. I think that he has also a big
chip on his shoulder. He wants to show the world
that he is still Patrick Mahomes and that this team
is not does not need to rely on defense to win.
They just have to let him cook and they will
be fine. And I think by the end of the season,
(40:52):
you're gonna see, you know, you're gonna see a situation
where we come down to the last week of the
season and we are trying to figure out who's gonna
be to touch leader and nobody, nobody has ever done
this before in NFL and history, where two separate quarterbacks
had forty five touchdown defense.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
That's I love I love that because you you know
I First of all, we talked a little bit for
the show. I had a Joe Burrow take I was
thinking about doing because I'm very in on him this season.
But I love that you're you know, and that last
bit with what you said, no two quarterbacks in history
have done that. We've never had that duel that sets
up for fantasy goodness and what that says to me
(41:28):
action step. I want any piece I can get of
that offense. I'm rushing to the wave for wire for
the Juju Smith Schuster. If that's the only piece I
can get. I'm paying a little bit extra for Xavier Worthy,
who had a great camp and a great preseason made
me a believer, you know. Chase Brown is another piece
that I'm like as receiving back. He's the type of
guy that can take a screen sixty yards and that's
what you need to have a forty five touchdown pass
(41:50):
kind of season. I'm all about this take. I don't
think it's even that spicy even. I mean it's spicy
in a good way. It's like when you go get
tay food, you kind of expect, like, what's the level
of Pay I can go with and I'm I'm all
for I'm a solid like two and a half out
of five, Like.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
That's a little crazy.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
But but that's that's a three and I like it
because I would love to see it's been a while
since we've had two elite offenses kind of in the
same year. There's usually one or two offenses or a
player on each team that that's relevant. But that would
be super, super exciting. Dylan, you're a Patrick Mahone's fan,
through and through. Who do you think wins the MVP
if they both have crazy good seasons?
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Pay?
Speaker 3 (42:28):
I am.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yeah one.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
MVP.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
I mean, my vote's always going with Pat. I'm never
going to vote against Patt. And I love that. I
love half of that. I love Pat going over forty five.
I would give that guy fifty touchdowns this year. I mean,
I think Andy Reid and him are just gonna let loose,
cut loose, and go crazy. I don't know about Joe Burrow.
It's his first year without Callahan, the new it's going
to be a different offensive coordinator. And some people say
(42:57):
Zach Taylor is the brains behind the offense. We'll see,
We'll see because I'm nervous. It's a change. And I
mean Joe Burrow didn't play all last season, Jamar Chase
didn't practice all off season. I mean, it's it's going
They're going to get off to a sluggish start and
I'm expecting that and so to recover and get go
off for forty five plus touchdowns. I think I'm not
(43:19):
saying this is not me saying I'm out on Joe Burrow,
I'm out on Jamar Chase. I'm just saying I would
be modest in my assumption that they would go just
become absolute bonkers. I just I'm not.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Buying, see Thomas, I'm on the other end of that spectrum.
I'm totally for the Joe Burrow side of this take
because it wouldn't surprise me. I know, Patrick Mahomes wants
to hit the deep ball more, wants to be a
more dynamic offense than he was last year. They still
won a Super Bowl, and that defense is still there
the most part. Most of those pieces are still there.
Chris Jones is still leading the way the Bengals. Their
defense ain't there. They don't got they don't got a
(43:49):
crazy good defense. It's gotten worse over time, I personally
take the Joe Burrows out of the argument, and Dylan
to help your side of the bet of the t
Higgins versus George George Pickens bet. I think Higgins is
going to start the season on fire. Jamar Chase may
start off a little bit slower than usual. He's elite,
He's gonna get there. I think Joe Burrow is on
a revenge tour because he didn't get to be you know,
(44:10):
Joe Burrow last season. He was just riddled with injury.
So Thomas, I love this take. If you had to
pick between the two, though, you know, I'm taking the
Burroughs out of the argument. Dealing's taking the mahmeside of
the argument. These are both elite guys in Dynasty. Let's
say you're in a redraft, keep this at cost. Mahomes
is going in in about the fourth, Burrow in about
the sixth. Who do you take.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
I'm gonna go Burrow. I'm gonna take the chance. I'm
gonna take the chance and wait on Burrow at six.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
If they're in the same round, round five, if.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
They're the same round, I'm going with Pat. I'm just
going with the safe.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
Okay, Okay, understandable, understandable.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
I mean, he threw fifty. I gotta give him. I
gotta get I gotta give.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
That's that's fair. I'm gonna move on to my second
spicy take. Boys, we were cooking through these man, but
we have a lot of ground to cover. I'm excited
sticking with quarterbacks and sticking with an equally elite name. Okay,
I believe you know part of what I part of
what I'm my superpowers in fantasy and it's a really
frustrating one. Dylan. Do you remember one of my favorite
(45:09):
quarterback draft picks of all time? See if you can
remember him. I took him in the second round of
a rookie draft in the league we were in together,
played for Ole Miss Second.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
Yes, Matt Corrall. Yes I was Corral.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Watch how I went on this plane.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
I believed in Matt Corral so much when Matt Rule
drafted him in the third round to the Carolina Panthers.
Why because I believed. I think they had Sam Donald
that season. I thought Sam Donald was not going to
play the whole season and was going to struggle and
be in and out, and Matt Correll had a path
to start. I was so correct about the situation. Unfortunately,
(45:47):
Matt Correll got injured and with Liz Frank injury and
he missed the entire season, so he didn't get the
opportunity to shine when the opportunity door opened. But I'm
really good at identified. Like last year, I I believe
cam Akers on the Rams. It wasn't that I believe
so much in cam Akers. I believed so much in
the Rams RB one which obviously going into the season
(46:08):
was cam Akers. Kyrad Williams just had to destroy my
future in cam Akers himself destroyed my future. Guys, I've
picked the situation. I know it this year, and this
time I'm gonna get it right. I'm gonna get the
play right as well as the situation. The Saints. I'm
sorry to tell you, Thomas, they are a dumpster fire.
And I am telling you that Spencer Rattler is going
to take over as the starting quarterback for the Saints
(46:29):
by the end of the season, go into next year
as the will Levis and he is priced so cheaply.
Go get Spencer Ratler. He's in an unbelievable preseason. Go
get Spencer Ratler. He was an unbelievable prospect that just
had some character issues that frankly looks like they got
resolved at South Carolina. We gotta remember he was at Oklahoma.
He was the guy. This was one of the best
recruits we've ever seen, and frankly, you know, Caleb Williams
(46:53):
kind of out shown him at Oklahoma. But you know,
there's a reason that Spencer was starting above him for
a good period of time, and I think maybe going
to South Carolina was the best thing ever for Spencer.
This guy could not only be a serviceable starter in
super flex leagues that you know, listen, Aidan O'Connell was
going for a second last year, Gardner Minsheet was going
for a second, Joe Flacco was going for multiple thirds
(47:14):
in Dynasty League last year as you got down to
the championship push. Spencer Ratler is both that perfect mix
of opportunity if he's a weekly starter, because Derek Carr
isn't exactly the pinnacle of health and youth. But I
frankly think the Saints are dumpster fire and there's gonna
be a chance for him to start, not just this year,
but I think Spencer could could win the job and
be someone going into next year that could that could
(47:36):
work their way up to eventually, you know, a quarterback one. Listen,
no one saw brock Perty coming. I'm not saying that,
you know, no one has seen Spencer Ratler coming, but
these are the type of shots that turn your franchise around.
In dynasty, maybe you had a bad startup draft, maybe
you went all in on the wrong players and had
to rebuild. Spencer Rattler can be the saving grace of
a franchise because even if you sell him, he's you're
(47:57):
taking something that's a third, a fourth, maybe a waiver
wire player, and turning him into something that's worth the
first I'm all in on Spencer Ratler. Oh, let me
put some stats to it really quickly. Guys, Guess who
the odds on favorite in every sportsbook head coach is
set to be fired. Guess who's not sound plus three hundred. Okay,
he is twice as likely as Mike McCarthy, who's number two.
(48:18):
It's the perfect price. Listen, I think we already talked
about this, but Chris o'lave and I want to mention
this too. If Spencer Rautler becomes the starter, he's going
into much better weapons than Will Levis did last year,
than Aidan O'Connell did. Even you have young, young pieces
around you that can help you succeed and veteran presence
to stabilize you. It's going to be really good. So
I think Dennis Allen gets fired. I think a new
(48:40):
regime comes in and they go, hey, we're out of
it this season. Let's see what we have in this
young player. Let's move on from this expensive contract. Spencer Ratler,
Dylan tell me I'm wrong.
Speaker 1 (48:49):
I wish I could, but I actually agree with you here.
The only thing I do disagree with is him stepping
into a better situation than Aidan O'Connell. I think it's
actually a very similar situation than O'Connell. Offensively, I mean,
and O'Connell had Devanta wide receivers. Yeah, Josh Jacobs, so
in Jacoby Myers is no slots either. I think it's
(49:09):
very very similar where Spencer Ratler would have a lave A,
Rashia Heat and Kamara. But I mean, I love it.
I think I don't know. To me, I know this
may be spicy other people, to me, not very spicy.
Like I fully expect this to happen because Dennis Allen
is going to have to pull out all the stops
in order to not lose his job. And so I
think by week four five, if they're below five hundred,
(49:32):
I mean we could see Spencer Ratler pretty early. We
know how often and how quickly Derek Carr spirals. I
mean when he goes, when he goes downhill and he's
having bad games. I mean that dude just does not
know how to pull his head out of his rewrit.
So I love it. I love Spencer Ratler as a prospect.
To me, he was one of my top five quarterbacks
coming in. He was behind you know, the big four
(49:53):
or sorry, sorry he was you know, he was behind
the Big four for me. I actually had him over
JJ McCarthy. I know, I know, I'm a JJ McCarthy
or whatever. I like Spencer Ratler a lot from a
talent standpoint, So to me, I love this one.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
Yeah. I don't have much to add. Man, Look I
did y'all see that passing through the same brown Yeah.
I talked. I talked to Michael Smith. Shout out to
Michael Smith, my brother about this today. That ball placement.
I don't care if there was backups. I don't care
if it was fifth string people in there. The ball
(50:28):
placement that he placed on that pass from the from
a slot receiver running uh, that was a I believe
a seam route with two defenders converging and he drops
it where it's right in front of his face mask
and all he has to do is put his hands
(50:49):
up and it's right there. That was an Aaron Rodgers type.
I have seen him a couple of times in this preseason,
and I think that was the only that was the
only thing I needed to see from him was can
he place? Can he does he have great ball placement?
(51:09):
And can he lead an offense? And I saw that
in the preseason. He didn't seem rattled. He seemed composed
this whole time every time he was on the field.
He had a bad game against San Francisco, but I
didn't see him. Look. He didn't look too bad to me.
I had been rooting against Derek Carr for about two
years now. I would love if the Saint started out
(51:32):
oning four and Dennis Allen. Maybe he's fired, maybe he's
still a coach, but he's going to be desperate, and
if he is, he will go to Spencer Rattler. You
will see him in on the field, and I think,
in fact, I know he's going to be better than
Derek Carr. And he's also probably going to project as
(51:52):
one of the steals of the last decade of drafts
because I think he's going to be a starter for
years to come, as soon as the Saints give him
the opportunity. So I have no notes, man, you know
who at all costs? You know who?
Speaker 1 (52:06):
Spencer Ratler reminds me of, say on three one two
three never well, I mean cowboys, but quarterbacks, surprise quarterbacks,
Cowboy quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (52:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
No, he reminds me a lot of Dak Prescott. You know,
Dak Prescott was a fourth round pick, a guy that
was I mean Dak Prescott. People forget he was a
Heisman candidate in college when he was a Mississippi.
Speaker 2 (52:29):
State he was. He scored one hundred touchdowns in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
I mean was great.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Spencer Ratler was very good. He just happened to get
benched in a bad in a game the Red River
Red River Rivalry where Cale Williams came in, and that's
where Kile Williams kind of took off. But I mean,
and he wasn't having a bad game. They were just losing,
Like they just mentioned him because they were losing, and so, yeah,
I mean I like Spencer Ratler. I think the upside's there.
Like I said to me, this isn't a very spicy take,
(52:57):
not to no offense, Josh, but I mean I I
just been a fan of Spencer Ratler, and I think
it's very likely with that dumpster fire, sorry Thomas of
a Saint Sto with its Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
Think it's I think it's simply spicy only because guessing
the narrative this early that the dominoes are going to
fall this way, and paying attention this early is something
that's super valuable for Dynasty players. And I mean, listen,
how many Twitter accounts exist right now that have already
broken the news that brandon I trade has done? You, Like,
there's so everyone tries to get ahead and say this
is what's going to happen. The only thing I'm taking
(53:28):
credit for is, hey, I truly am planting my flag.
This is for sure going to happen, and you should
make a move in your league to go acquire this player.
It's worth the risk because the reward is so so
sweet We're going to take a quick break before we
come back with Dylan's second of the hot takes. Very
rarely on this show are all three of us in agreement.
(53:48):
So it feels good to finish a take where all
of us are very high on Spencer Rallery, but also
makes me feel like it wasn't maybe spicy enough. Makes
me feel a little self conscious. But Dylan, I know
you'll get us back on track because every take you
have is outland dish, foolish, uh and just out there.
So please, you know, stay on brand and get us
back to a place of disagreement where we can actually
have some good debate of exchange here on the Dynasty Exchange.
Speaker 1 (54:09):
I I'm gonna go spicy. This one I think is
spicy and it's a conviction, and I'm sticking with QBS.
I think there's a QB in pretty much all of
my takes, but the last one has a little bit
of a spin on it. So but this one, this
hits close to home and I really, really, really am
convicted about this guy. I have him on my team
actually in our league of record the Dynasty Exchange. Give
(54:35):
me if I can, does someone have a link to
pre order the mayonnaise. Fragrant fragrance because uh, fragrance, fragrance.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
Fragrance, fragrance. If your book hooked on phonics too, not
a problem, I'll include it.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
Fragrance fragrance. Give me that fragrance. I need some of that.
If you're listening, Levis, I know you're out there somewhere, mister,
will give me some of that fragrance, and I'll continue
to promote you because this guy is going to take
a step like no other this year. I'm calling that
will Levis is going to be a QB one QB
one this season. No question. He's gonna finish in the
(55:13):
top ten. Not even just a QB one, He's going
to finish in the top ten of QB's this season.
And I think that's between Calvin Ridley, DeAndre Hopkins, Taj Spears,
Tony pol You want to talk about why are we
sitting here saying how Caleb Williams is gonna have one
of the best years ever when he hasn't even stepp
foot on an NFL field yet with all of his
weapons and listen, I'm not saying the Tennessee offense is
(55:35):
exactly the Bears offense, but I mean, you can't just
say that Calvin Ridley's irrelevant, DeAndre Hopkins is irrelevant, the
backfield that I just named is irrelevant. Chigakonquo is still there,
Tyler Boyd is there. Treylon Burks, my guy is still there.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
Okay, Gosh, like we're.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
Sitting here talking about KILEB. Williams offense. Not to mention.
I mean, now Will Levis has the offensive coordinator who
made the Bengals offense. The Bengals offense was so, I mean,
what else needs to go right for Will Levis to
step into a top ten season? Nothing? Nothing. This season
is gonna be it. You're gonna see the rushing on display,
You're gonna see the passing on display, and we're finally
(56:13):
gonna see the tools that we saw from a relatively
raw prospect. And Will Levis at Kentucky, it's gonna come
together and you're gonna see him make some bone headed throws.
It's the same thing with Anthony Richards, and he's going
to try to he has an arrogant arm. He's gonna
try to put the ball where he thinks he can
put the ball, and he's gonna make mistakes. But I
think that he puts it all together. And I mean,
and I know it was a different offense, a different regime,
(56:34):
but even in a Mike Vrabel, I don't even know
who the offensive coordinator was. Offense with Derrick Henry running
the ball, we saw Ryan Tannehill put together top ten seasons.
So I think in this offense.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
Arthur Smith was often the Arthur Smith's right. Yes, yeah,
Arthur for a couple of those years.
Speaker 1 (56:52):
Yeah, Arthur Smith at the helm and a rush heavy offense.
We saw Ryan Tannehill be a top ten option. So
for me, Will Levis puts it all together. I think
we're very very much sleeping on Will Levis because of
his weapons are too old and we're in Dynasty and
we only like young players. Scrap that. Don't worry about it.
Will Levis is gonna put it together with d hob
(57:12):
Ridley and co. And he's going to finish as a
top ten quarterback. Man, he's that bro.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
That's get a shirt for that. Tom, did you want
to respond to that. I know you're a Calvin Ridley fan.
Maybe maybe help our friend out over here, man, No, I.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
Have I like that. I'm going to stay on the
spice level. That's that's yeah, that's gonna be a little Tabasco.
That's gonna be just a little little shot at Tabasco.
I like that, man, I I have, so I obviously
put Will Levis into my Guys episode. And I love
Calvin Realley. I love his game, always have. I'm not
(57:50):
a doubter of him being a number one receiver for anybody.
I think that that situation is just so that up
for Will Levis to excel in. Like I so obviously
as a Saints fan, I watched the preseason game with
uh with Tennessee. Man, he's throwing to open people all
(58:12):
over the field because you got Tyler Boyd, like you
got the Calvin Ridley d. Hop's gonna come back. De
hop is Like he's not like he was just a
thousand yeard receiver last year. Like if we still believe
in Keenan Allen, we got to believe at least could
still put up the numbers. Right now, you got these
two backs who are really really good receivers. On top
of that, a new offensive line, a new system. Will
(58:35):
Levis looks like he like they're putting all their eggs
into the Will Levis basket and I think he knows
it and he wants to be good. I don't. People
could talk about Will Levis all they want, but I
think that has to do with off the field stuff
or like he doesn't look the part of a quarterback
or act like a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
Maybe a fragrance commercial with a man who cares.
Speaker 3 (59:00):
Just it's just male. It's just mayo, h Josh.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
I know you put male on everything, don't.
Speaker 2 (59:06):
First of all, no, that's yes, that is insubordinate churelish.
I will not. I will not stand for that. My
kitchen is my safe place. It is my creative I
will Dylan struck a nerve. Just someone needs you to
continue on your take.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
No, man, that was hilarious. No, I don't have much else.
Man like Dylan, Dylan knows. I love me some Will Levis,
and I love caln Rely and I love that situation
in Tennessee. They're gonna be just flying all up and
down the field on people, and he's gonna just unleaf
that arm as a cannon, dude, and he's got people
who could go get the ball, so he's just gonna
unleash that thing all over the field. And if he's
(59:46):
got in trouble. Dump it down to one of these
running backs who could run routes. J Spears is a
great route run. Tony Pollack could run routes like a
received We saw it in Dallas. Like it's not just
to speak of. They got a couple tight, halfway decent
and young. So he's gonna cook a lot. Man. So
I'm saying, like top ten, Yeah, I'm done with it.
Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
I love it, love it, halfway decent, you got some
there halfway right, yeah, man, I will provide kind of
the devil's advocate choice. My official stance is BLTC, which
is by Lewis, TAJ and Calvin, because when I look
at this division, you're in for some barnburners. And I
(01:00:29):
don't think you know, certainly with rabel leaving the Tennessee
Titans defense didn't get better, didn't get tighter, so they're
gonna have to win with offense. So the opportunity, the
situation is there for some some barn burner games. And
like I said, I think I said it when you
talked about Lewis's you're my guy, Charles, forgive me, Thomas.
(01:00:50):
I really do think there could be a Blake Bortles
level season where he's or even Jameis Winston like he's
just chucking the ball all over the place like you
talked about, Dylan.
Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
Here's how I see it going wrong. One the weapons
truly are older. Calvin Ridley is your wide receiver one
at twenty nine years old. DeAndre Hopkins he is he's
gonna be what thirty two when the season starts. And
he went to the Titans based on money. He didn't
go based on the ability to compete. This this team
has a lot of problems, has a lot of needs,
(01:01:20):
and it could get unmotivated really quickly. But that's that's
kind of it. Will Levis is really athletic. He likes
to run the ball. I think the rushing upside is there.
I think the only reason I want to keep him
out of the top ten for sure is I like,
who's there better than the name Will Levis. I haven't
seen enough of Will Levis. But this this is the
(01:01:41):
time to be spicy. It's time to project that which
we normally wouldn't. And remember, health is a huge part
of this too. If Will Levis stays healthy, that is
a massive, massive part of this whole equation because a
lot of other qbs in the top ten right now,
probably won't. I mean, listen, I thought Aaron Rodgers gonna
be top ten quarterback last year. He didn't get three plays,
you know what I mean? So so other candidates could
(01:02:03):
fall out, and Will levis just just having to play
the Texans twice a year, just having to play the
Colts twice a year. And Jacksonville certainly knows slouch either.
I don't think those are gonna be defensive games. I
think he's gonna have to put up a lot of points.
So I'm not all the way in.
Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
But I mean your listeners last year, so last year, right,
QB seven, Jared Goff, Okay, he could he I mean
Jared goffs pocket passer, don't, I don't, don't hate it,
but he could beat out Jared Goff QB eight, Patrick Mahomes.
I expect him to be higher, So disregard that he's
not beating on Patrick Mahomes. TUA, don't think he beats
(01:02:41):
up ta. Baker Mayfield was in the top ten.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
You've got no, he wasn't.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Yes, Baker Mayfield was QB ten.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
Oh, then yeah, I'm in. I buy this is not
even a hot take.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
This I mean, I mean, Sam, I saw it QB twelve. Yeah,
I mean you got Russell Wilson. How did he even be?
Speaker 2 (01:02:57):
He was QB forty fourteen. I knew that one six
touchdowns Sean Payton.
Speaker 1 (01:03:02):
Yeah, So I mean I rest my case. I mean,
I think it's spicy because most people would think I'm
absolutely insane for saying anything positive about Will Levis for
some reason. But I mean it's not It's not that
far fetch if you think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
Thomas just did I mean last week in fairness? But
you know, hey, uh, Thomas, I know we agree. I
like to take Dylan. I like to take especially in Dynasty.
I think it's he's an interesting buy. Right now, you
can let me ask you this this before I move
to you for your next take, Thomas Dylon, would you
trade Dak Prescott for Will Levis? And a first?
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
I think so, would you trade for.
Speaker 2 (01:03:41):
Will Levis in a second if you had Dak Prescott
because doesn't have a contract.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
I think the first would be the silling point.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Okay, so take the first away. What's the you know,
would you trade Baker Mayfield for Will Levis?
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:03:55):
Yeah, yeah, Thomas, would.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
You yeah, I would age. Yeah, and I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
There's questions with Baker, bro he just loves.
Speaker 3 (01:04:07):
I was about to say, yeah, we don't know what
Baker's gonna look like. His receivers are getting older. I want,
I want, I want, will love Stock wherever I can,
I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:16):
Thomas add add to the flavor party with something more
than mayn As Place.
Speaker 3 (01:04:21):
All right, all right, y'all not gonna like this. Nobody
likes this, but this is gonna be spicy. It's gonna
be caliente. Uh. This gentleman has pissed off a variety
a large large portion of fantasy owners over the last
(01:04:42):
couple of seasons. It's based on a situation more than performance,
but also performance. He had some drops in his past. Uh.
He has some boneheaded plays that were There was a
season where he didn't score touchdowns. Ah, but he had
Kenn Picket, he had the ghost of Ben Roethlisberger. He had,
(01:05:07):
I mean, just like bad quarterback play Mason Rudolph. He
just had bad quarterback play all of his career. But
we know targets is a skill. Okay, earning targets is
a skill. Deontay Johnson has earned targets at a high
level with some elite names. Now I'm not saying he's
(01:05:28):
produced with all those targets, but he has earned those
damn targets. He's in a different situation now, he's with
you know, Canalis, he is with Bryce Young, you know
the people around him seem to think. I believe Canalis
(01:05:49):
said he was like, when we're in trouble, we want
to go to Deontay Johnson. That's who we're looking for.
So my heart take is this in the Year of
Our Lord twenty twenty four and Yonte Johnson will lead
the league in receptions. The ghost of Adam Thielen had
(01:06:09):
one hundred and four receptions on one of the worst
offenses we have seen in a while. Last year. They
have Xavier Laguett, who has been hurt all preseason in
training camp, who doesn't look like he who was raw
coming in. We knew he was gonna be raw. Adam
Thielen is thirty three or thirty four. I believe he's
(01:06:31):
on the outskirts of a career that was productive at
one point. But it just seems like he's there to
be more of a mentor than anything other than that.
What else you got Jonathan Brooks still out for a while,
CHUPA Hubbard doesn't profile as a receiving back. You got
Deontay Johnson taking all the targets. He is twenty seven
(01:06:56):
years old. He is firmly within his prime. And guess
what on top of that, boys, y'all know what I love.
Y'all know what I love? A contract season. My man
don't have a contract, y'all. He wants the ball. So
I believe that Bryce Young is gonna look his weight
early often in all season long, and by the end
(01:07:19):
of the season, you will see Deontay Johnson's name number
one above the Ceedee Lambs, the Jamar Chases of the
world as the number one reception getter in the league. Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:07:32):
I mean, I don't know about the reception total. He's
gonna get peppered with targets, and I do think he
will compete with Adam Thielen still for targets. I don't
like to call on his production, though I do think
he's being slept on. I think he's going as like
a back end wide receiver three in startup drafts, which
is disrespectful because he is the one there. There's no
(01:07:55):
one else there that is a better wide receiver at
a good flex man, Like I mean, if I could
grab Deontay Johnson that late as a wide receiver three,
I mean he's he has easily wide receiver two floor
to me in that offense. So I mean I like
that part of it. The reception, now that's spicy. That's spicy.
I mean to lead the league in receptions, that's I
(01:08:15):
mean ceedee Lamb did that last year, I believe, and
I mean he's coming for his crown after that, after
that paycheck. So and Jamar Chase didn't play a whole
season either, did Justin Jefferson? And yeah, I mean that's bold,
that's bold. I don't know. I think you can think five.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
Yeah, I think Jetta's get I mean, I understand. I love.
Here's what I love. You identified a value of a player,
You identified a situation that has upsided, and then you
took it to the highest level it could go. In
PPR leagu's Deontay Johnson needs.
Speaker 3 (01:08:44):
To be rosted.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
You could have said top five in receptions. I don't
of it, like that's spicy and outlandish, but number one overall,
if you hit on that, Thomas, that'll be the stuff
of legend, like that'll be your moda, Lisa. You know
what I mean, like that is that is a fantasy take.
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
Let me just I just want to reiterate. Adam Thielen
had one hundred and four receptions.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Right, but Adam Fadam is also still there. They did
draft Xavier Leget. Jonathan Mingo apparently had a good camp.
I just think that he isn't as much of the
only game in town. In frankly, Deontae Johnson has never
functioned well as the true one without help. He actually
struggled in that a lot. His best year was George
Pickens rookie year, when George Pickens was drawing coverage going
(01:09:26):
deep and you know, like Lan had one hundred and four. Yeah,
well Thelan was white. Literally, Frank Reich was like Flan
saved me, like they had no and Jonathan Mingo looked
horrible last year. It was it was a bad offense.
I think they had Hayden Hurst as well, and they
brought him in and he was just garbage. So I
do agree that he is going to be a funnel
(01:09:47):
for targets, but I also think that there's enough, Like
I think Xavier leg Get is interesting. He's going to
He's gonna draw some targets. I do think Adam Thlen
is good for sixty to eighty targets almost guaranteed if
he if he plays all season, he he's almost like
a tight end from the slot at this point.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
So that's the only thing I would qualify. But I
certainly think he does, you know, represent a massive, massive value. Guys,
I'm gonna start us on the home stretch here. I've
talked a lot. It's been a lot of spice, spent
a lot of mayonnaise. Uh been a lot of weird,
but probably not as weird as this take. I've talked
(01:10:23):
about situations and identifying him. Guys. I have been probably
my biggest fantasy blind spot is my hatred of Joe Mixon.
I have been out on Joe Mixon for for many,
many years. I think he really hurt me in Redraft
his rookie season and I just never forgave him and
I missed out on you know, year in a year
out of yeah, running back one finishes. He's never efficient,
(01:10:45):
right And listen, now is not the time in my
life to grow and become a new person. It's to
become homogeny and old and double down on the bias
as he says, already have Yeah, I hear amy background.
We're not changing it at all.
Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
My last spicy take, and this is a redemption arc
for me because I really believed in cam Akers last year,
but most importantly, I believed in the Rams situation. Cam
Akers replaces Joe Mixon due to injury and finishes as
an RB one on the year in a points per
game basis, because I don't know when the injury is
gonna happen exactly, Guys, Joe Mixon already has over eighteen
(01:11:27):
hundred career touches. Joe Mixon, the Bengals were so loyal
to him year after year when he thought, you know,
he's averaging three point nine to carry, four point one
to carry, you know, three point five a carry, and
they just kept resigning him because he did the dirty work.
He did all those things that piles up. Cam Akers
has looked unbelievable in the preseason, and I get it.
Two Achilles tears. It doesn't make sense. Not all human
(01:11:50):
beings are created equal. If you guys, remember Deontay Foreman,
He you know, when he was drafted by the Texans.
He was drafted to be a guy. He tears his achilles,
he disappeared for years, and then he re emerges with
the Carolina Panthers as this really good fantasy running back,
and I think cam Akers can have a similar path.
The most important thing about this, take the real meat
(01:12:10):
and bones of it, is there's always a waiver wire hero.
There's always someone in the first three or three to
five weeks of the fantasy season that take over in
redraft and make you a superstar and win. Last year
it was Pooka, it was Kyne. I'm trying to think
of who else was perhaps a waiverwire hero in years past.
You had like Elijah Mitchell, you know, I remember Tyree
(01:12:33):
Kill his rookie year. I'm trying to get ahead of
the curve and identify the path of who would be
if if someone got injured and we were to go
to waivers, who would be a league winner? Unquestionably, if
Joe Mixon is out for the season or out for
multiple games, cam Akers becomes a league winning type of player,
and you should go pick him up in dynasty leagues
(01:12:55):
right now if you need depth of the running back position,
because even without a Joe Mixon injury. I think I
think that offense, Acres can can provide plenty of change
of pace and be serviceable as a flex. I think
Acres is one of the cheapest buys. He's still only
twenty five years old. I know that there's wear and tear,
but it's not like he's ever had a full season
workload where he's gotten to be a workhorse. He's just
gotten injured before that happens. So I think it's time,
(01:13:16):
finally time for cam Akers to be the predator and
not the prey in terms of the depth chart. We
were actually starting to see that happen in Minnesota last
year before he got injured. So it's spicy, it's outlandish.
It's just coming off of a great preseason campaign and
just having played Fantasy for almost ten years now, I
really believe this is that waiver wire name that in
Week one and redraft we're all like, oh my gosh,
(01:13:38):
this is our league winner. We got to go do
the fab spend. So I'm all in on taking a
swing early on cam Akers to avoid the opportunity costs
being too expensive later on down the road. Dylan is
shaking his head he looks like he's about to vomit.
Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
I hate I hate this tick. I absolutely hate this tick.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
I hate it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
I just I don't. I hate it. But I agree
to an extent. I agree to an extent very particularly.
I don't. I don't like we don't like.
Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:14:14):
I mean, I do think there's validity behind Joe Mixon's
health in particular. I mean, he's already been banged up
in camp. I think it's a hamstring, which is not
a good entry to have as a running back, lingering
at least in camp. I just don't know the Acres
will be the guy he's looked. He's looked decent in preseason,
(01:14:35):
but I just I don't know. I don't like it.
I don't like that. I just don't like wanting to
bet and believe in Acres. He's just let me. I
think maybe this is some problem. Maybe I need to
go see someone about this, because I just he is
every time I get hyped on him and JK. Dobbins,
it's it's it's a freaking achilles pulled up.
Speaker 2 (01:14:53):
I pulled up my rankings from last year, like my
projections for twenty twenty three. Guess who my running backs
eleven and twelve JK.
Speaker 1 (01:15:01):
Dobbins, and it's the cycle is running its course because
we're getting close to the season and people are like, wait, JK.
Dobbins could actually get carries in l A. Yeah, wait,
cam Makers can actually And I'm like, no, I've been here,
I've done that. Me don't like so I'm going to
stay away from that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
Thomas, Yeah, I'm with Dylan on this one. Josh Man,
I can't put my faith in cam Makers anymore. Like
I just well, I've been we played this game before.
You know this. This song is played over and over again.
I love the kid coming out of Florida State. He
was one of my favorite picks of the draft. You know,
(01:15:44):
I think that he's had some moments in this preseason,
but I don't even think that. I don't even think. Yeah,
he had to spend, but I don't even think the
Texans are willing to bank on him alone. If he
were to get the opportunity, I think you might see
a time share because I don't know if they're going
to give him the workload they would give a Joe
Mixon who's proven time and time again he can handle
(01:16:05):
a heavy workload. I'm not sure off the top of
my head. I can't they have another back that I'm
blanking on.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Jaman Peers, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, he's not it, He's
not it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
Well, I don't know who the other guy might be,
but I just don't see them believing that cam Makers
could carry the load for whatever. Let's say Joe Mixon
gets hurt in week five. I don't see twelve games
of just can Makers up the you know, just handing
it off to him. And I do believe that cam
Makers still has talent though, I do, but I just
(01:16:39):
don't think that he will ever become anybody's running back one.
Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
Again, Thomas, honest question, have you seen Deadpool and Wolverine?
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
And again le's the chat spoilers for the movie. Did
you expect to seek Ambit when you went and sat down?
Did you want to see Gambit when you went and
sat down chanting Tatum's interpretation of Gambit? Did you want
to see Blade? Did you want to see Electra? Was that?
Did you did? Listen? Most importantly, did you want to
see Chris Evans as the Human Torch?
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Was that?
Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
In your expectations of a cameo?
Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
Oh? Expectations no, no, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:17:19):
Sometimes the best surprises are just that they're truly a surprise.
We know there's going to be a cameo in Houston,
and it's just not who you think it's going to be.
It's a redemption arc. I need you to buy in.
It's going to work so well. Just believe in the
narrative because objectively, objectively narrative is all I've got.
Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
You did you try to sell this man with comic books?
Speaker 3 (01:17:42):
He did it, He really did it. Almost worked too,
because if this, if this comes true, you're about to
make a name for yourself.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Good play.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Great movie, great movie. Admittedly, guys that that is a
swing for the fences because it's a narrative one. There's
not hard numbers to support it. Guys with two Achilles stairs,
they don't tend to work out. But that's why he's
priced so cheaply. It's a cheap swing take. It could
pan out great, Dylan, your last hot take before we
end this fantastic, keeping.
Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
My last hot take, my hot My final hot take
is going back to some homegrown roots. I was very
high on this guy at one time. This guy was
a top I'm pretty sure he was a wide receiver one.
He not pretty sure he was a wide receiver one
in dynasty. This was a short probably four or five
years ago, and he's been cursed. He's been deemed in
(01:18:34):
a category of just wide receivers that just could have
should have been.
Speaker 3 (01:18:40):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
This guy, along with his quarterback and an offense that
I think is going to surprise people and shock people,
are going to have incredible fantasy finishes. And if you
can get this wide receiver right now, go and get
him before Week one, because I can guarantee you week one,
he's going to go for ten receptions and one hundred
and let's call it one hundred plus yards. They just
(01:19:03):
traded away who we thought was going to be the
number two option there. I mean everyone thought Johan Dotson
was going to be the number two option. We didn't
think Diami Brown or Luke McCaffrey was going to beat
him out. The guy I'm talking about is Terry McLaurin
at wide receiver. Terry McLaurin is going to finish this
year as a wide receiver one. And I think the
(01:19:25):
talent I don't even have to convince anyone on the
talent there. Right the only thing that's been missing is
a QB that can actually get him the ball on
a consistent basis, specifically when he gets opened deep and
we know he's a good contested catch, we know he
can separate, we know he can do all the things
that a wide receiver we want to see can do.
He is a top ten talent in the league at
wide receiver. I think he puts it all together. And
(01:19:48):
then his quarterback, Jaden Daniels. Rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels top
five finish this year. I'm putting him as a rookie
QB it five.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
This is a Jaden dan You just I was on
the Terry mcluory and.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
This offense is going to shock people, and it's going
to be on the backs of Jaden Daniels and Terry McLaurin.
Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
So this is one of those dishes that it's like
they serve it and the entree itself is hot and
you're like, okay, wow, this got some good heat too.
It's like, oh, have you added the sauce, and so
Jade and Daniels.
Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
I said to Jaden Daniels, sauce, Okay, the Jaden Daniels
sauce I mean it's fitting. He's he played in Louisiana.
I mean, he's got he's bringing the Louisiana spice to
this dish, and we saw it. We saw glimpses of it.
His very first unofficial touchdown in the league was a
rushing touchdown. That is going to provide so much upside
(01:20:41):
in fantasy leagues. That is going to go. I mean,
he needs this slide. We saw what he did a
couple of weeks ago. He needs this slide. He doesn't
need to be taking any hits. We don't need an
RG three season from him. We need him to stay
healthy because this guy is going to be better than
what we thought RG three could be because he's going
to protect himself and then he has a weapon like
Terry mc corn. I'm telling you this offense is going
to be one of the top offenses in the league.
(01:21:03):
We saw. Look what Sam Howe did in that offense
last year. I mean, Sam Howe finished what he was
a top ten quarter or no, he was QB twelve
last year.
Speaker 2 (01:21:12):
Yeah, and he didn't finish the season.
Speaker 1 (01:21:14):
He didn't even finish the season. And I get it.
It's a different offense, but the it's a Cliff Kingsbury offense.
They're not going to throw the ball any less than
they did last year. So I mean Cliff Kingsbury offense.
Jayden Daniels. I mean, we've seen Cliff's history with I mean,
take it all the way back to college Patrick Mahomes.
Patrick Mahomes was a Cliff kings very product. I mean
(01:21:35):
take it before that, Cliff kings actually recruited Johnny Manziel
and Kyler Murray too, oh or at A and M.
And then I mean he played with Kyler Murray. Kyler
Murray in the NFL. So the QBS that he has
on his resume put Jayden Daniels behind him in that offense.
I mean, it's it's going to be fireworks. And I
think Jayden Daniels has a top five QB finish and
(01:21:58):
I think Terry mclaurran finished his as a wide receiver
won this season.
Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
First of all, great great take, Excited to respond to it.
Side note, I'm excited about Cliff Kingsbury as just a
coordinator because I've always felt like he's a terrible head coach,
but like this is there's totally a lame for him
as a coordinator Thomas. Did you want to respond to
that double take or would you like me to, you know,
bring us back down to earth.
Speaker 3 (01:22:20):
No, I'll be I'll be brief with this one man.
I love this state Terry McLaurin. The disrespect is out
of control, you know, Like this man just keeps producing
with really barely any good quarterback play to speak up.
And he's a number one receiver. He's not that old.
People making a big deal about his age. What is
he twenty eight twenty nine, it's twenty eight, twenty eight
(01:22:43):
years old. Like Calvin really just got a four year
contract at twenty.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Year prime for a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
That's the prime year four wide receiver. He's got a
couple of years left. Like he's always proven time and
time again that he will produce. Now he has quarterback
who is actually the perfect guy for his skill set.
Terry McLaurin is a deep ball receiver. Like if he
(01:23:11):
can get beyond a defense, he runs a four to
three Like let him cook. Let him go down the
field and catch some deep passes and get a stat
line of four catches for one hundred and twenty five yards.
That's what I'm gonna see. That's what we're gonna see,
I think a lot this season. He's gonna have some
really really blow up games where you see him just
beating the defense because everybody's gonna have to they have
(01:23:34):
to commit to the box because Jaydon Daniels is such
an elite runner and now they have a little bit
more rushing power with Austin Eckler out of the backfield.
Brian Robinson is going to be a factor, but they
don't have a lot of competition. Deanby Brown was looking
really good in the preseason and where's he been for
the last three or four years. This is going to be,
(01:23:56):
like Dylan said, one of those offenses that people are
sleeping on that's gonna take such a huge leap by
the middle of the season. We're gonna be You're gonna
be wishing you traded for Terry McLaurin at at the
value he's at right now, because it's only gonna go up.
And I think that's the same thing with Jayden and Daniels.
He's just got They got too much going on in
that offense for them not to succeed. And we've seen
(01:24:18):
Cliff Kingsbury with similar players like this seems like the
Arizona team that we saw with Cliff Kingsbury and they
were producing at a really high level for fantasy, So
I think it'll happen again. I love this tape, though.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
Yeah, I don't want to add too much to it.
I'm very in on Terry McLaurin. He was almost to
my guy. He's like the situation reminds me a lot
of DJ Moore last year. Especially now with John Dots
and being shipped out. It's like, hey, you kind of
are the alpha. You're gonna have a thirty percent target share,
and even if you're a Rushian quarterback, if you're hyper targeted,
it can work because you know you're gonna have some
broken plays too, where you just get open and you're
(01:24:53):
great after the catch. I think that's totally capable. My
issue is health, and I you know, not on Wood.
The Washington football team, the Commanders, uh you know, formerly
the Redskins. It's like they do not have a long
history of keeping quarterbacks healthy. It's just one of those
vibes things. So it's weird. But the only thing I'm
really in on is they are correcting the mistakes of
(01:25:15):
the past ownership. The Sean Taylor statue is being replaced.
I'm not kidding that that matters to me. The vibes
like there's a statistic, there was a there was a
curse for the Detroit Lions that they hadn't been to
the playoffs or whatever. Peyton Manning exercises it on an episode,
and within two years the Lions are in the playoffs
and have a playoff when at home, it's I'm a
(01:25:36):
I'm a superstitious guy. Yeah, I mean the injurer, Sean Taylor,
I'm in.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
One thing that will help with the injury is is
Cliff Kingsbury's He knows what it feels like to have
your quarterback go down because of a injury.
Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
And granted Daniels is a daredevil, Dylan, dude, I literally
told you in an earlier show in the offseason before
like rookie drafts, I literally had a dream that Jade
Daniels got injured week thirteam I'm not speaking to since
I have no desire for that. I don't believe that
I'm simply saying this is this is a genuine concern
from his college tape where he's reckless. This is the NFL,
(01:26:10):
and it seems like it always happens, you know, with
the commanders. But that's the only thing that can stop it.
That's the only thing that's slowed down also. But top
five for rookie QB, no shot. I don't believe what
stuff for Maybe top twelve, we'll see it.
Speaker 3 (01:26:21):
Thomas h. Yeah, so this is this is maybe my
spiciest one.
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
That's for last.
Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
Yeah, yeah, I think I say the best for last,
you know, because both of y'all agreed. Deonte Johnson could
be top five or whatever, but this is this one's Yeah,
this is gonna take the top off of it. I'm
predicting this season. Javonte Williams, his demise has been greatly exaggerated,
(01:26:54):
will lead the NFL not only in touches, but he
will produce fantasy are be one stats now hear me on,
we're dealing with a really bad team, guys. The Broncos
aren't going to compete this year. Sean Payton knows that
he's in it for the long haul. It's job security
is not a thing, right. Javonte Williams got two hundred
(01:27:15):
and twenty plus carries last year with and thirty plus receptions,
even though he was coming off of ACL tear. Sean
Payton does not not like Javonte Williams. Sean Payton respects
the hell out of Javonte Williams because last year he
was not ready to play, and yet he came in
and he gutted it out. He's gone off records saying
(01:27:37):
he is a different play He looks like a different
player this season. Sean Payton does use multiple backs. Delim
McLaughlin is not going to be have such a significant
enough role where he is taking away so many carries
and he might take some receptions, but he's not taking
so many carries away from Javonte. But we're in an
(01:27:58):
offense that doesn't have a lot of elite weapons on
the outside. They don't even have an elite tight end.
We didn't know who they tight end was until a
couple of weeks ago. They and Bo Nick's profiles as
a guy who likes to dump the ball off, and
we know Sean Payton uses his running backs. He is
gonna use Javonte Williams until he expires because ardrick estimate
has been not only been hurt. He's a fifth round pick.
(01:28:22):
I understand like everybody's hyped on him, but I don't
think Sean Payton wants to use him in a year,
knowing that he's not going to win ten eleven games.
He's gonna wait and save him and use Javonte up
because again, what do I like boys a contract season,
(01:28:42):
He's gonna use Javonte because he knows he's not in
danger of resigning somebody or using him up and having
to resign him. It's going to be a lot of
dump downs from bo Nicks to Javante. It's gonna be
a lot of Javonte near the goal line. It's gonna
be a lot of Javonte between the twenties trying to
trying to take time off the clock because they don't
have a quarterback they can rely on, and they don't
(01:29:03):
have a defense that they really can't rely on. So
I think Javonte Williams is gonna shock a lot of people.
He's gonna go in the next year looking for a
contract and he's gonna get one because he has a
great RB one season.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Are you saying RB one like Aaron RB one or
the RB one.
Speaker 2 (01:29:20):
And RB one not and RB one spicy enough to
be honest with you.
Speaker 1 (01:29:24):
Yeah, it is.
Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
It is.
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
I mean I'll go ahead. I like it. I personally
am high on Javante as well, and I think very similarly.
I mean, rby one's pretty spicy. Actually, now I think
about RB one's and RB one is pretty spicy. I
don't know what I mean. I don't know that I
would say that, but I do think he will have
a good year. I think he's coming. He's got a
(01:29:46):
year removed from the injury, the ACL injury. He is
in an offense where they're gonna run the ball. I
think even on passing, Bo Knicks is gonna look to
dump it off because he's an inexperienced quarterback. But I
do think they're going to be better than we and
that's where I don't know, Like, I think they're going
to have options to win, and I think that's where
Sean Payton is like, oh wait, we actually have a
(01:30:06):
shot at this. Let's actually run what I want to run.
And I do think we're going to see Audrick estimated
mid season pop up a lot more so. That's the
only thing that worries me. But I am higher on
Javonte Williams. I do think he could have a top
fifteen year top I mean in RB one, that's tough.
They do alternate pretty often, but I mean, I don't
it would take a lot for Javonte to get there.
Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
It would be music to many a dynasty owner's ears
if Javonte Williams is anything close to the form we
saw his rookie season. And so I do think there's
hope simply because we're we're now two years removed from
the ACL tear all of us win some and he
came back or like we didn't expect him to start
the season last year. It's important to remember. So I
am high on you know, Javonte regaining value. But I
(01:30:52):
think there's a name I disagree with the take pretty
wholeheartedly because I think we're forgetting how good Julia McLoughlin was,
and we keep talking about Audrick Esterman. He's taking Samaji
p Ryan spot. That's who they're getting rid of. Aldrick
Essimate is third on the DIP chart and Sean Payton
has always used a committee running back room. I do
think Javonte is gonna get plenty of work, but I
don't think this offense is going to be you know,
(01:31:13):
top tier, And I just do I think that there's
gonna be you know, three or four receiving touchdowns that
if they had gone to Javonte, Yeah, you're flirting with
a you know, a top twelve running back. But Sjelu
McLoughlin is electric, a great change of pace, had a
great rookie season, and they love him in Denver. So
there's a strong committee there. And yeah, Audrick Estimate, that's
the name you guys keep bringing up because everyone's been
hyped on him because he's so big, he's strong, he can,
(01:31:34):
you know, assault away games. I just think if you're
Sean Payton, you know why why change the formula that
you've always had. I mean with bo Nix, he wants
a quarterback very similar Drew Brees who gets the ball
out quick, makes quick reads, makes quick decision, stumps it down.
Sean Payton is also I mean this we were all
how many years were we frustrated that Alvin Kamara wasn't
turned to loose And no disrespect to Javonte Williams, but
(01:31:56):
he's nowhere near prime Alvin Camara yet, so for him
to get that level those touches, especially all the time
near the goal line. Because also I want to bring
this up, do you guys remember John kun the fullback
John kun had a three touchdown game for Sean Payton
and I know this Alvin Kamara that year, like mark Ingram,
I was like, this makes no sense and it just happens.
(01:32:17):
And so that's that's my concern, and that's why it's
a spicy take though, because if it does happen, I mean,
you're getting a guy who's an RB three right now
performing as an RB one. That's how you win your league.
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
Yep, yeah, I you know. I understand there's a lot
of pitfalls in this logic, but Sean Payton is a
stat and I should have written it down, but I
had to flip to my to this take last minute.
But there's a stat where every every year that Sean
(01:32:48):
Payton has been a coach, I believe his running backs
have been like top five and touches yards and ye,
so I think if the is what I believe it
to be, and I don't I know, Julia McLoughlin is
a really good player. I do trust that he will
get a lot of a lot of run. But I
believe that Javonte Williams will not only be the goal lineback,
(01:33:11):
which is essential, but I also think that he'll he
is a better receipt. He profiles is a better receiver
than Audrick estimated. So you may see him more on
third downs and in those situations where he's dumping the
ball down. And remember when Jompay was in New Orleans,
he had Drew Brees. He doesn't have Drew Brees right
(01:33:31):
now because Drew Brees. When he got Drew Brees, Drew
Brees was already a pro and been to San Diego
and run through a whole contract, got them to the playoffs.
So he was an established steven quarterback. With bow Knicks,
He's gonna have training wheels on it, man, because he
could if he couldn't get it out of Russell Wilson.
He is going to take his time to make sure
bow Knicks builds confidence and does not mess up by
(01:33:53):
throwing interception after interception trying to force the ball down
the field. So I know it's spicy, and to some degree,
I know that this could all, like you know, turn
out to be trash take. But I believe Gavante Williams
can be the running back we saw in year one.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
Well, listen, we make these takes because they're most likely
not going to happen. These are swing for the fences,
win your league type of moves. A lot of dominoes
have to fall for some of them. Just as a reminder,
I have Garrett Wilson finishing as the wide receiver one
overall and the Jets winning the Super Bowl. Spencer Rattler
is taking over for Derek Carr and is going to
be a long term starter in the Saints moving into
next year, and then ultimately Cam Akers will replace Joe
(01:34:35):
Mixon and be a league winner on the waiver wire
or for a cheap trade in your dynasty leagues, Dylan,
you want to remind every one of yours before we
move on. Yes, and the show, I should say, it's
been a long one.
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
It's for more.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
No, I got nothing empty.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
Yes, I had my very first one. Cale Williams Kale
Williams is not finished as a top twenty quarterback this year,
and he disappoint for fantasy goodness. Yes he may be
good in the NFL, but for fantasy you don't want
to touch him. Second, I had you know none other
than the mannings King himself in his fragrance. He is
going to be a QB one this year in Tennessee.
(01:35:15):
The offense explodes, you're going to want to have him
on your team. And Brian Callahan offense. And then finally
I had the Commander's offense going absolute bonkers on the
shoulders of a top five QB season from rookie Jaden Daniels.
And then I had Terry McLaurin finishing as a wide
receiver one this year in the Commander's offense led by
(01:35:37):
Cliff Kingsbury.
Speaker 2 (01:35:38):
Love half of that Thomas bring us Home remind us
of the three.
Speaker 3 (01:35:43):
So number one, I had Joe cool Burrow and Patrick Mahomes,
both Eclipson the forty five touchdown mark going all the
way down to the wire to see who leads the
league and who gets that MVP. Second, I had Deontay Johnson,
who will lead the league in recept since this year
on offense lacking targets, and he will be the steal
(01:36:04):
of every fantasy draft. And lastly, Javonte Williams will lead
the NFL in touches on a Sean Payton's offense that
is probably gonna dump the ball down a lot and
use their running backs quite a bit. I think he'll
be the biggest beneficiary and he will be a r
the one love it.
Speaker 2 (01:36:23):
Those were some very spicy takes Charles Thomas. See I
keep saying, Charles, I'm thinking about inviting Charles Robmins, so
we need to get Charles Rumps back on the show.
That's why I've been doing that. Yeah. No, but I
think I like your mahomes Burrow take the most because
that would be such a refreshing fantasy good. There'd be
so many touchdowns to go around. That'd be great. I know, right.
This has been the Dynasty Exchange. We will see you

take and if Dylan in direct analysis, thank you and
