Speaker 1 (00:21):
A lost world. That's what Aunt Vector had told me
during lunch, after I'd found the Lion and that giant
map with all those tiny exes. She claimed the exes
were openings to a totally different world, and Globo Tech
had found them. At first, I couldn't believe it, but
then I thought about all the weird places my parents
have gone and all the bizarre animals they've studied, so

(00:44):
I guess a lost world was possible. Plus that lion
was different, and my Aunt Vector wouldn't lie to me.
She could definitely see. I was still kind of skeptical, though,
because next thing I know, I'm back in one of
Global Tech's jeeps with my aunt and we're speeding through
the jungle.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Here it is.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
If it weren't for the Globo Tech tent and all
the agents standing around with their pulse rifles aimed and ready,
I wouldn't have known where the entrance even was. We
had arrived at what looked like a giant boulder, surrounded
by vines and trees. The rock must have been there
for a while because it was covered in layers of moss.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Welcome to Station one.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
This is where the entrance to the Lost World is.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Not the entrance petra an entrance. We call this station
one because it's the first real opening we found. Since then,
we've found a few more, and we're pretty sure we
have the locations of many others. But why stay here
and tell you all about it?

Speaker 1 (01:54):
You there, prepare the lift.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
My niece and I will be taking a small field trip.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Usually when I think of a field trip, I think
of museums, or aquariums, or historical landmarks. This wasn't like
any field trip I'd ever taken. In fact, I bet
no one's ever taken a field trip like this before.
I did remember that giant moss covered boulder. When we
got up close, I realized there was a giant crack

(02:23):
in the side of it. Aunt Vector said that this
crack was the entrance, and that before they found it,
the opening had been covered in vines. Actually, they'd almost
missed it, but aunt Vector, with her knowledge of plants,
noticed some weird growth patterns and decided to check it out. Listen,
she wasn't hired as the CEO of Globotech for nothing. Anyway.

(02:47):
Some of you might remember how Miles found the Lost World.
Oh what I wouldn't have given to see him sliding
down that rock tunnel screaming his head off. Well, Glo
was a little more advanced in how they got down.
As soon as they found the opening. They basically made

(03:08):
a ski lift, except instead of the top of a
snowy mountain, it took you down to some weird, never
before seen world. WHOA, how far down does this tunnel go?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Pretty far? But don't worry. The lift will get us
down there in no time. Oh, you might want to
hang on tight though. I love roller coasters when I
know I'm on one. But what kind of a warning

(03:45):
is you might want to hang on? A real warning
would have sounded.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Like, hey, Petra, you should definitely hang on because these
seats are made for grown men, not teenage girls, so
you might slip out of your restraints and I'll have
to grab your ankle at the left and pull you
back into your seat. Yeah. But other than that, it
was super fun. That was so much fun. I mean,

(04:10):
other than the almost flying off part that is.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Sorry, Petra, I really thought you'd have time to grab
the bars before they started the descent. Maybe don't tell
your mom I almost let you fly off of a
ski lift on our way to an underground world. Huh,
so what do you think?

Speaker 1 (04:32):
In case you're a little confused, remember there were multiple
openings global Ticket either found or at least guessed their whereabouts.
The one that Miles had found was one of the
later ones, and that was near a volcano station. One's entrance, thankfully,
brought us out to a part of the jungle, not
the Forbidden Jungle, thank goodness, just a different area of

(04:54):
the Lost World. And wow, was it beautiful. There were
the dark red trees with white bark that I saw
in those sketches, and bright yellow grass. Imagine every picture
of a jungle you've ever seen and make it a
thousand times more amazing with weird colors and plants. That's

(05:15):
what the jungle look like.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Don't just stand there, guckings. Come on, let me show
you around.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Aunt vector. This this is amazing. I saw some of
the sketches in the lab, but those are nothing compared
to the real thing. When you said the Lost World
was underground, I thought you were going to bring me
to a world of tunnels, you know, like like those
tunnel systems wombats create.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
But this, this is.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Like an entirely different planet.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
It is pretty fantastic, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
How did Globotech even know about this place?

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Oh, there are hundreds of new worlds to discover if
you know where to look. Since we got here, we've
made some amazing discoveries. New animals, new plants, new everything.
Oh believe Petra, the things we find here in the
Lost World are going to change our world. Up above, though.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
They hadn't been in the Lost World very long, globo
Tech had already set up a good amount of bases
at entry points. All these bases reported to the main
base on the surface, and according to Aunt Vectra, they
were ready for anything.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
First, there's a decontamination room. Close your eyes real quick.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Is their toxic or something not.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
That we know of, but it's standard procedure for every
off world Globotech base. Better safe than sorry. Over there
is the weapons room, right next to the sleeping quarters.
Each jungle base is also equipped with a small kitchen
with enough supplies for a handful of agents and scientists
to stay here for weeks if needed. Much easier that way.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
So kind of like a sleep away camp, but with
weapons and possibly dangerous animals exactly.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
And over here is our security room.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
They really should have just called the security room a
screen room because from Florida ceiling we're screens showing different
parts of the jungle. According to Aunt Vectra, the agents
took turns monitoring the screens. Misshade, Misshades. Guest Hi, I'm Petra,
Nice to meet you. Looks like you have your eyes

(07:38):
on the entire jungle.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Not quite, but that's the goal. Right now. We have
the camera set up at every possible approach to this
base except the far east of the Nacamba River. Something
keeps knocking it down, and for some reason, not a
single agent on duty seems to be able to catch
the culprit on camera. But this way we can always

(08:02):
see what's coming from every direction. Like there the south
cameras looks like Agent eleven is on his way back
with his team. Let me just fiddle with this knob
right here so we can get sound.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Up.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
In the corner screen, we could see Agent eleven and
some agents walking in front of a giant truck. Agent
eleven was carrying what looked like a leather satchel filled
with well, I'm not sure, but whatever it was looked heavy.
As a truck got closer, I could see that on
the back of the truck was an equally giant cage,

(08:41):
and inside that cage was Is that a pig? So
it seems it wasn't just a pig, It was a giant, ugly, angry,
wild pig. I learned about wild pigs from my mom
and dad, and trust me, they are nothing like your

(09:02):
friendly barnyard pig. But that wasn't all Remember New World,
New Animals. Well, what happened next was definitely new.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
M Agent eleven, report, please.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Miss Shade, mission complete. We also came across this creature.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
The pig breathe fire, Agent eleven, Are you and your
team all right?

Speaker 2 (09:34):
The pig has been sedated, Miss Shade. I'd say minor
burns on at least two agents. Take those agents to
the infirmary on the double. As you can see, Miss Shade,
another incredibly dangerous animal.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
So I see. I will inform the lab that we
will need to make accommodations for a new guest. Thank you,
Agent eleven.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Another thing I learned that day was that most of
the jungle bases have labs or at least some sort
of research room. The lab back at the main base
seemed to be dedicated to maps, papers and plant samples,
oh and the giant lion of course. But this it
was filled with all sorts of animals, mainly small ones

(10:19):
like birds with polka dotted feathers, a really bad smelling rodent,
and something that looked like a purple squirrel with bat wings.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Careful, one of our scientists recently learned that creature has
very sharp teeth and quite a grip. Good to know,
Agent eleven, welcome back. I trust the injured agents have
been tended to and send back to the main base.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
Affirmative good.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Now, let's get a closer look at this impressive creature,
shall we.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
What's going to happen to it? The pig that is.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Hopefully it'll stay locked in a cage for the rest
of its days. That's the least it deserves for injuring
my agents.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
You can't do that. It's not like it meant to
hurt you guys. I'm guessing it was probably just scared
in the cage. My mom always says that animals are
more afraid of us than we are of them.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Well, last time I checked, my team and I are
the ones trained to explore new worlds, and my team
was the one dealing with a fire breathing pig, not
your mom, So maybe leave the guessing to the actual experts.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Expert, what do you even have a background in being
mean for no reason?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Listen here, you yes.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
A fine beast, if I do say so myself, Agent
eleven M Yes.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Miss Shade, I was just telling your niece here that
such a beast needs to be handled by professionals. If
that is all, I'll make sure that thing's cage is.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Ready, Aunt, Vector, you can't serious be okay with that
pig being in a cage.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Petra, let me show you something. Take a look at
that burn mark on the pig's leg. That's no small wound.
He must have had an encounter with one of the
nearby volcanoes. If my agents hadn't brought him back to
this base, it's highly likely another more dangerous animal would
have gotten him. But here, here we contend to his

(12:24):
injury and give him a cozy place to sleep and heal.
Of course, I'm sure a scientist will run a few tests,
new creature and all, but at least with us, this
pig won't be abandoned or eaten.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Oh well, that's not that bad then, And when he's
all healed up, you'll just release him back into the Lost.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
World, right of course. Dear, Remember Globotech is here to
help the world that includes the Lost World.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Guess you really are the good guys. Then what was that?
I'm not sure?

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Get this pig moved and close the hangar doors. Now.
Now that that's done, I believe it's almost dinner time.
Let's head back to the surface and see what the
cafeteria has for us tonight.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
That sounds like a great plan.

Speaker 3 (13:25):
I thought so too, Petra, sweetie. I know I've shown
you many amazing things today, but you need to promise
me one thing.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
I know you're an independent and brave girl, but down
here we're still learning what dangerous things are out there,
and I would never forgive myself if you got hurt
while in my care. I need you to promise to
stay inside the main base at all times. When I'm
with you. We can go to and from the Lost World,

(14:00):
but you must never come out here alone. Got it, Oh, I.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Promise on Vector. It turns out that promise was a
lot harder to keep than we both thought.
