Speaker 1 (00:06):
Holy crap, Quessey.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Cooking, baby, this is huge.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
The Minnesota Vikings, as I'm speaking, just came to terms
with guard Will Fries. It's a five year deal with
up to eighty eight million dollars. This is a humongous
splash by the Minnesota Vikings and it's a huge deal.

(00:49):
Will Fries was a guard for the Colts. The Colts
may have taken cam Binam from the Vikings, but the
Vikings are taking the heart from the Colts because they
signed the cult center Ryan Kelly yesterday to a multi

(01:13):
year deal and now they just signed guard Will Fries
to a multi year deal, five years, eighty eight million dollars.
Quesse is cooking, and right now.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
It feels good. Not gonna lie, it feels amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Will Fries, before going down with an injury last year,
an eighty six point nine PFF grade third among guards
through Week five. So he had a devastating injury last year.
But there's no doubt that the Vikings have put importance

(02:01):
on upgrading specific areas of need this offseason. And Will
Fries had a ton of pursuers this year. Yeah, he
was docking to multiple teams and the Minnesota Vikings just
checked a huge box for this offense to be successful

(02:26):
under first year starter JJ McCarthy. The Minnesota Vikings went
from Garrett Bradberry a week interior center to Ryan Kelly,
and the Vikings just went from Blake Brandle or Dalton

(02:51):
Reisner to Will Fries. The Vikings are securing the weakest
part of their roster by adding guard Will Fries and center.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Ryan Kelly.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
I don't think we can get across just how important
this is for the Vikings and for jjon McCarthy, because
if you put out JAJ McCarthy with Garrett Bradbury, Blake
Brandle and Dalton Reisner, you are going to be crucifying him.

(03:39):
But now you're putting JJ McCarthy under center, and the
oppositive line of protecting him is going to be Christian Darisa,
Will Fries, Ryan Kelly, some other guy maybe that they

(04:00):
draft in the first round, and Brian O'Neil. The Minnesota
Vikings may have just gotten the best offensive lineman in
all of free agency, and they might right now have
the best offensive line heading into next season. These guys
are major, major additions, and the Vikings team just got really,

(04:28):
really strong. My first reaction yesterday when the Vikings signed
Ryan Kelly was well, what about Blake Brandle and Dalton
Reiser's positions? Those were the two biggest areas of need.
Garrett Bradbury, Sure, he's weaker, like it'd be nice to

(04:48):
upgrade that position too, but like, what about the guys
next to him? That's where the Vikings were struggling the most,
and now the Vikings are cooking. If there was any
hesitation for the Vikings to give Quescia Dolfo Mensa a

(05:10):
contract extension, now is the time.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
And here's the thing about NFL free.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Agency that's completely different than the NFL draft. The NFL draft,
you're all about trying to sell your hope. You're selling everything.
You're selling that this guy can play. You're selling that
he's going to be a major addition to the roster
when you really have no clue. The NFL draft is
a complete guess game, and sometimes NFL free agency can

(05:38):
be two. But the pitch the sell is easier because
we've seen these guys play. Will Fryes did not just
get an eighty eight million dollar contract for nothing. That's
a big, big deal. He can play. This guy's a
boss on the oppositive line. The Vikings did not just

(05:58):
give Ryan Kelly an eighteen million dollar contract for nothing.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
This guy can play, so right now.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
The Vikings are cementing themselves as legitimate NFC North contenders
following their fourteen to three season last year with Sam Darnold.
Now excuses are going completely out the window for McCarthy,

(06:32):
which is both good and bad because if he struggles
in this first year, we cannot point to the obfensive
line say well, it's weak. You know, Blake Brandell and
Dalton Reisner and Garrett Bradbury. That's who's protecting McCarthy's got
no time to throw. Now, the Vikings have one of
the most solidified offensive linemens in all of football. And

(07:00):
this is a very, very great NFL free agency. And
this points back to three years ago when Quesse was
hired to do the job. When Quessey was hired to
be the Vikings general manager, it was all pointing to

(07:22):
this offseason, get cap space, get a rookie quarterback, and
let's fill in the spots.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
We're good on receiver, we're good at running back.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Now the spots we need to fill are interior offensive line,
interior defensive line, and the secondary, and the Vikings are
finding all of those players and fulfilling those spots. I
cannot tell you just how exciting this is. And holy

(07:58):
crap pants, Tom Pelasarro, the Vikings aren't done. They're also
closing in on a deal with two time Pro Bowl
defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and plan to sign him after
his release from the forty nine Ers is.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Official on Wednesday. Whoa holy cow?

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Jonathan Hargraves in twenty twenty one a ninety two point
four pass rush grade, fourth among all defensive linemen.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Now, I'm gonna be careful.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
And I'm not going to immediately fall into The Vikings
are immediately super Bowl contenders, and they cannot lose the
football game, and they're gonna be the best team in
the NFC Northern The Lions and the Bears of the
Beckers cannot could be with the Vikings because let's just
let it rest, Let's just let it play out a
little bit more. I learned my lesson last year when
I fell for the Vikings. Shrap that they sucked me
into believing that they were Super Bowl contenders. But boy,

(09:00):
oh boy, wow, it's hard. It's hard not to get there.
It's hard not to get there. Uh. Will fries is
twenty seven years old, and here's a little write up
on him. Friese is coming off of a devastating fractured

(09:21):
right tibia injury suffered in Week five last season. Before
the injury, he morphed into one of the most underrated
starting right guards. Okay, it's the right guard in the
NFL over the last couple of seasons. Fries entered the
league as a seventh round pick in twenty twenty one
and carved out a starting role. He relies on refined technique,
good play, strength, and elite finishing skills that stand out

(09:45):
even on a line featuring an all time great finisher
and Quinton Nelson. Assuming a clean bill of health, fries
is good enough to be the second or third best
starter on a unit. His competitive toughness will set the
tone for the room. The Vikings went from soft to

(10:05):
hard nose in two days on the offensive line, and
Jajon McCarthy should be on his hands and knees thanking
quesci Adopo Mensa for the amount of protection that he
just got on the offensive line. It's unbelievable, the amount

(10:32):
of protection that JJ McCarthy just got on the offensive
line is better than birth control. It's better than any
kind of condom. It's better than anything that you could

(10:55):
have for protection. JJ McCarthy Scott handed one of the
best offensive lines in football entering his first year starting. Wow,
the Vikings are cooking and this is amazing stuff.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
It's really what the Vikings were planning for years.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
But you can't just plan it, you need to execute it,
and that's exactly what the Vikings are doing. This is
one of the most exciting Vikings off seasons that I
can ever remember, because it seems like for the past
eight nine years it's been all about barely signing guys

(11:45):
because you're so pressed up against the cab. You've got
all these guys on extra contracts. You got all this
dead cab money. You had Kirk Cousins on dead cat money.
Last year, you had Anthony Barr and Eric Hendricks, all
these guys on dead cab money.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
And this year the Vikings are just.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Unloading it all and spending, spending, spending, and it's exciting stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Right now, it's like this season cannot come soon enough.
Ryan Kelly will Fries, Christian Darisaw Blake Brandle unless they
signed someone else or draft someone and Brian O'Neill, Jajon McCarthy,

(12:29):
Aaron Jones, Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Cooper Cup mm hmm,
Jalen Naylor. That's what we're looking like on the Vikings
offense right now. The defensive line Jonathan Gernard, Jonathan Allen,

(12:50):
Javon Hargrave, Andrew van Ginkel. The Vikings just solidified one
of the nastiest fronts on both the offensive and defensive
side of the ball. This is extraordinary and right now
the Minnesota Vikings bandwagon is getting stronger and stronger. Wow,

(13:17):
oh my word. And the Vikings almost considered bringing back
Sam Darnold. No, they never did consider it. It was
never even a possibility. The Vikings just got really, really strong.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
What an exciting day, What an exciting days for the
Vikings organization. I'm not going to go into the Super
Bowl say yeah, they're going to the super Bowl this year,
but wow, if they were going to go to the
Super Bowl this year next, this is the roster that
would take them there.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Now, how can you argue otherwise? Seriously? Wow, what a day,
What a day?

Speaker 1 (14:02):

that follow button. Wherever you're watching or listening, Appreciate you

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Whoa, what a day.
