Speaker 1 (00:06):
Welcome into the show today. Who Baby.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Minnesota Vikings have finally announced via leakage to Tom
Peleasaro that they are done pursuing, are done having their
conversations about Aaron Rodgers within the Twin City's orthopedics facility

(00:37):
in Egan, Minnesota. Finally, the Vikings have decided to leak
information and say we're done. Aaron Rodgers, future Hall of
Famer forty one year old quarterback who through for twenty
eight touchdowns and eleven interceptions, will not be a part

(01:01):
of the Vikings organization and will not follow in the
footsteps of Brett Farv unless something drastic happens. Pelasorro also
reported that the Vikings have rejected multiple trade calls on J. J. McCarthy,

(01:21):
telling other teams they're moving forward with him as their quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Teams that come to mind that wanted to trade for McCarthy,
teams like maybe the Giants would offer the third overall pick,
maybe the Titans wanted to offer their number one overall pick,
Maybe the Cleveland Browns offered Miles Garrett for McCarthy. And
maybe there's even some other teams out there that I'm
not thinking of. But there are a lot of quarterback

(01:49):
needy teams, and McCarthy most say would have been the
top overall quarterback in this year's draft class. But let's
talk about Aaron Rodgers and the Vikings ending this whole situation.
You look at reports from and Alec Lewis and Adam
Schefter and even John Krazinski of the Athletic Weight In

(02:15):
this morning he said, here's how I see the Vikings
QB saga.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
They have a roster they believe can make the bull.
JJ is still very young.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Rogers is intriguing with his talent and his experience and
a lot of mess as well.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
JJ should view.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
This spring and summer as time to buckle down and
show he's ready. Some Vikings fans may not want to
hear it, but the conversations on Rogers in the building
have been real. There's confidence in McCarthy, but Vikings have
seriously considered another guy at his position, albeit a Hall
of Famer.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
It's go time, JJ.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Even John Krazinski confirmed the discussions that were happening within
the Vikings facility. Now it's not so much about Rogers
being or not being a Viking, But to me, the
story is about how the Vikings handled this whole situation,

(03:17):
and in my opinion, the Vikings handled this situation as
terrible as they could have because they let this rumor
float around for weeks. They let Aaron Rodgers's agent push
stuff out there, They let Rogers pick some narratives that

(03:40):
the national media would go with.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
They allowed the insiders of the.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Athletic and ESPN to get sources within the building, and
everything that was being source said Rogers to the Vikings
was a discussion on the table. Paul Allen and crack
Rock on Twitter. We're really the only ones that were
pushing against this whole Aaron Rodgers thing, saying it was

(04:07):
never ever going to happen, and turns out they're right.
But when I think about the Vikings handling this situation,
they handled it in a way that will or could
eventually create bitterness or animosity within the organization.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Let me expand on what I mean.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
If Jaj McCarthy plays very poorly next season and the
Vikings have a Super Bowl roster, and let's say Rogers
signs with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Steelers win a
ton of games, our Super Bowl contenders, there are going
to be a lot of pissed off people within that

(04:52):
organization and within the Vikings fan base because Rogers wanted
to come to Minnesota, and that's why he was waiting
to sign with somebody else, because he wanted to be.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
A Minnesota Viking.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
If McCarthy goes out next season and shows that he
is not ready yet for the spotlight, that he cannot
take a super Bowl ready roster and take it to
a super Bowl ready level, there is going to be
so much criticism and so many pointing of fingers within

(05:29):
that organization and within the Vikings fan base because it's
going to be a classic Monday morning quarterback situation. You
let Aaron Rodgers sign with another team. He threw twenty
eight touchdowns eleven interceptions last season with the worst organization
in the NFL, and he wanted to be a part

(05:51):
of your organization.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Let's run it back. Brett fav two point zero. Here
we go. The Vikings made the right.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Decision in my opinion by not signing Aaron Rodgers. However,
the way that they handled it was very, very poorly
because what they should have done is as soon as
this was a story, they should have came out pushed

(06:21):
against it. And said this is not real.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Even if it was. Even if it was real, you could.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
Come out and push back against it and just lied
to the media like every other NFL organization does. The
Vikings are trained assassins in terms of what they give
out to the public, So they could have easily said,
you know what, we don't like Aaron Rodgers. We don't

(06:48):
want him a part of this organization. We do not
want him messing with McCarthy. Even if it was a
real discussion behind the scenes, they didn't even do that.
Now there are gonna be so many pointing of fingers
if JAJ McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Cannot live up to the hype that many believe.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
That he can live up to, because you could have
had Aaron Rodgers, you could have had a Hall of Famer,
You could have had a guy with a great arm,
and he put him with the Websons weapons of Jefferson
and Addison and Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason and T. J.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Hockinson.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Now you create that hypothetical in your mind by not
killing the story when he should have killed it.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
A week or two ago.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Crack Rock National reporting today that I reported months ago.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
My starses are the actual source trust. The rock Mortar
report of the Billionaire Boys Club heads to Palm Beach
this week for the NFL Owners meeting. Stay tuned. I
also think.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
It creates an us necessary pressure on Jajon McCarthy for
letting this.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Story run as long as it did. You could have
killed it a week or two ago.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
And now McCarthy's gonna go out there next season and
play against the ghost that is Aaron Rodgers, because as
soon as he struggles, you know what everyone's gonna say.
You could have had Aaron Rodgers the vik you should
have signed Aaron Rodgers. The McCarthy might even get asked,
do you think it would have been valuable to sit

(08:31):
behind Aaron Rodgers for a year If he struggles, that
question will be asked. So you create unnecessary pressure on
the franchise next season, and.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
You also.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Create potentially animosity within the Vikings building by not killing
this story when you should have killed it a week
or to a go alec Lewis said this this morning.
The reporting was that the Vikings strongly considered Rogers, nothing more,

(09:08):
not that it was likely, but discussions happened, and there
were many inside the building in support of the possibility.
The Vikings have committed to JJ McCarthy and now Rogers
can make a decision or wait, Ben Gesling said on

(09:29):
said this on PA show yesterday. But here's where I
keep my vikings backup. QB options a veteran with a
clear role like Flaco or Tannehill, or a trade. The
compic formula matters here. They're also excited about where JJ
McCarthy is at. So the Vikings kill the story, but
do it in like the most possible worst way. I

(09:54):
still cannot believe the way that they handled this because
it could have been a so much cleaner and it
could have been done so much sooner without any potential
bitterness or pressure that was completely unneeded on Jajon McCarthy. Anyways,

(10:17):
Vikings finally ended should have been done months ago or
two weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
That's the take.
