Appreciate you all listening and for making this podcast a
part of your day. This podcast is one hundred percent honest,
(00:27):
one hundred percent of the time. The Minnesota Timberwolves are
in one of the craziest situations that we have seen
in a long time in the NBA's Western Conference, and
we're going to talk about that in a little bit,
(00:47):
But first I need to tell you about five Star
bath Solutions of Minneapolis. My wife and I were in.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
The market one that these pictures you're like, if you're
watching on YouTube, I'll describe to the listening audience moldy bathroom.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
A step going into the bathroom and shower area, which
we hated, just made the bathrooms feel tiny and we
we at once sink outdated, gross, unhealthy. So we needed
a new bathroom and we threw out some feelers four
(01:28):
to six week project. You have to hire someone else
to get your mold done. We didn't want any of that.
We wanted a business that could do everything at one time.
So we contacted five Star camp and they did it
all and not in six weeks forty eight hours. Our
(01:54):
bathroom is remodeled, new floors, the step is gone, shower
looks incredible, double sink, vanity, updated color. And even though
we invested into our bathroom, it's an investment. We get
that money back when we sell the house. So contact
five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis if you need a
(02:17):
bathroom ramodel. They are the best, They're convenient, they're affordable.
Financial payment options are available. Contact five Star Bath Solutions
of Minneapolis and be a happy customer like my wife
and I are today. Free consultations are available. Okay, So
the Timberwolves, their record right now is forty six and
(02:40):
thirty two, which is tied with the Grizzlies, tied with
the Golden State Warriors, tied with the LA Clippers, and
they are a half a game behind the Denver Nuggets
who are forty seven and thirty two. Only two games
games separate the Lakers, who are the three seed and
(03:04):
have a forty eight and thirty overall record, and the
Memphis Grizzlies, the eight seed, who are forty six and
thirty two, alongside the four other teams that I mentioned,
And it's a crazy run to the finish line because
(03:25):
the Timberwolves, as it stands right now, have four games
to play at Milwaukee, at Memphis, home versus Brooklyn, and
home versus Utah. So they finished their season with two
very easy, winnable games. And I should say that in quotes,
(03:46):
because the most winnable games of the year for the
Timberwolves have been the least winnable. The competition that the
Timberwolves should easily beat have not been easily beaten. And
that's the reason why the Timberwolves are in this mess
(04:07):
in the first place. But you look at their next
two games at Milwaukee at Memphis. Memphis isn't a free
fall right now. They were good, they fired their coach.
They're in a free fall. They've won three out of
their last ten games. And that's really I think the focus.
(04:37):
I think that's really where the focus needs to go
on how teams are performing recently, because it's so easy
to get caught up. WHOA, they're forty six and thirty two,
forty six and thirty two, forty six and thirty two,
forty six and thirty two, forty seven and thirty two.
But when you look at the standings there and go
(04:58):
to the far right call, it says last ten games,
and the Timberbowls last ten games they're seven and three,
and the Warriors last ten games they're seven and three,
and the Clippers last ten games they are eight and two.
So all three of these teams are playing phenomenal basketball.
(05:22):
And then you go to Denver and they're three and
seven in their last ten games. Jamal Murray is not
healthy and is not playing right now. They are not
full strength. Even if Nikola Jokic puts up forty to
sixty points a game, they are still losing. Memphis Grizzlies
three and seven their last ten games. You look at
(05:47):
the Wolves schedule and the next two games are the
trickiest Milwaukee forty four and thirty four, and they are
playing for that five seed. They would rather play Indiana
than play the Knicks. And then you've got Memphis, who
are obviously playing for the seeding in that Western Conference.
(06:16):
These games. I don't know if the Timberwolves are going
to finish off the season with a nine game win streak,
because that's what it would take to win the rest
of the games. The Timberrowls around a current five game
win streak. They barely snuck past the seventy six Ers,
(06:36):
who are currently putting out one of the worst NBA
starting lineups that the NBA has ever seen because Quinton
Grimes went off in the final three minutes of that ballgame.
It took an Anthony Edwards crazy three point shot to
win that game. And to secure that victory. This Timberwols
(06:59):
team is impossible to predict because right now, Rudy Gobert
is playing like one of the best centers in the league.
You look at his numbers and he is playing phenomenal basketball.
And I am a Rudy Gobert critic because of the
amount of spacing that he clogs up on the Timberwolves
(07:23):
offensive side of the ball. You look at his performance
versus Philadelphia, Rudy Gobert put up twenty three points, had
nineteen rebounds, three blocks, two steals to assist ten for
eleven and following this game, Chris Finch postgame said that
(07:44):
Rudy Gobert will not allow the Timberwolves to lose. You
look at his numbers against the Nets, Rudy Gobert nine ten,
twenty one points, eighteen rebounds, two blocks. Rudy Gobert. I
can't believe I'm saying this has been stepping up for
(08:04):
the Timberwolves in ways that we have not seen before.
Against Denver nineteen points, twelve rebounds, one assist, one steal.
These are gro Bear's last three games against Detroit, in
the Timberwolves win one twenty three to one oh four.
Go Bear eight for sixteen nineteen points, twenty five rebounds,
(08:27):
one block. I have never seen these numbers from Rudy Gobert.
Even with Utah. He has been an efficient scorer at
the lob dunker spot, and he is rebounding the heck
(08:49):
out of the basketball right now. But as far as
predictions goes, I do not think the Timberwolves will finish
off the season riding a nine game winche. I don't
think they're going to win the last four games. In
my estimation, they will split Milwaukee and Memphis, and then
(09:10):
they will beat Brooklyn and Utah at home to finish
off the season fifty and thirty three. Now, the question
that is going to be fascinating to see answered is
(09:32):
how these other teams finish off the season, because Timberwolves
play Memphis, huge implications, But Memphis also plays at Denver
in their second to last game of the season, so
the Timberwolves are not the only team that plays another team.
While these seedings are on the line, so important for
(10:02):
the Timberwolves to win every game from here on out
so that they can avoid that play in game. What
is also so interesting is you look at the Western
Conference and it's been like this for years where the
Western Conference has been so much better than the Eastern Conference,
(10:25):
and it seems to only get worse by year. The
Timberwolves seventh seed are forty six and thirty two in
the East, the seventh seed is thirty eight and forty.
You go from fourteen games above five hundred and the
West to two games under five hundred in the East.
(10:51):
If the Timberwolves were in the Eastern Conference, they would
be competing for the fourth seed right now with the
Indiana Pacers, and so with the Grizzlies, and so with
the Warriors, and so would the Clippers, and all of
these teams are competing for three spots in the Western Conference.
(11:16):
This is one of the craziest competitions down the stretch
that we could ever foresee. And what also is going
to be interesting to watch is how motivated and inspired
the Timberwolves are to finish off the season strong, because
(11:39):
you've seen them motivated Timberwolves team and you've seen an
unmotivated Timberwolves team. You've seen them play their best against
the best competition. They've beat Oklahoma City Thunder at least
once this year where they've played really well, and then
they will lose against the backup Indiana Pacers squad in overtime.
So what needs to happen is the Timberwolves need to
(12:06):
play their best basketball down the stretch, and if they
are not motivated or inspired to win these final games
of the season, just like the Minnesota Wild should be,
and like they were against their matchup yesterday, the Wild
played really really well against the Dallas Stars. The Timberwolves
(12:30):
if they are unmotivated and uninspired to win these final
four games of the year, even if they lose, if
it's a motivated and inspired effort, okay, final, I'll give
you a pass as long as you played hard and
you played well and you played smart. But if you
lose and it looks uninspired and you look like a
bunch of idiots, playing with the basketball in your hands.
(12:52):
Then all the doors of criticism become opened. And it's
fair because right now, and the players will say this,
every game is a Game seven mentality because you're in
(13:13):
the play in game regardless. But do you really want
to be that eighth seed in the play in that
are going on the road to play Memphis Golden State
or the LA Clippers or the Denver Nuggets. That's not
a situation you want. And the Timberwolves have a favorable
schedule down the stretch. Sure, Memphis and Milwaukee can win,
(13:35):
but they also play Utah that is on the bottom
of the league at sixteen and sixty three, and then
they also play Brooklyn who are twenty five and fifty three.
The Timberwolves should not lose either of those two matchups,
(13:55):
and if they do, it's embarrassing. So really, the irregular
season boils down to how the Temberwolves face off against
the Milwaukee Bucks and the Memphis Grizzlies, although not really
because the Timberwolves worst games of the season have been
(14:16):
against the worst teams in the league. So as easy
as those games look on paper, the Timberwolves have made
it very well known to everybody this season, to the
fan base, to the coaches, and to themselves that they
cannot just walk into an arena and beat whoever they
think that they should beat. So fascinating run, interesting subject
(14:41):
to talk about, and we'll be following it during this
final stretch of the season. Thank you for watching this episode.
