Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Minnesota Timberwolves are done down three to one, heading
back to Oklahoma City Thunder. It would take the impossible
to come back and win this series. But if you
listen to this show, you knew this several days ago.
(00:21):
Thanks for tuning in. How did the Timberwolves lose to
the Thunder on Memorial Day? Because they scored one hundred
and twenty six points. But man, there were so many
things that went wrong. I needed to first check out
(00:41):
Five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis, though, because they transformed
our bathroom in forty eight hours. I was talking to
a friend and they are frustrated that their bathroom roommodel
has taken two months and they regret not going with
(01:03):
five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis because I told them, hey,
look at this, they did it in forty eight hours,
and my friend's like, well, we have a family friend
that can do it a little cheaper. Two months later,
they're still waiting for the project to be finished. Our
project was done in forty eight hours, affordable payment plans,
(01:23):
free consultations, and they took our floor, new floor, took
our shower, new shower, took our surround, new surround. We
went from one sink to two sinks in our bathroom
and then we got a new vanity, all done in
forty eight hours. Do not cram into your teeny tiny
(01:46):
bathroom downstairs while I try to get ready for work
while the kids try to get ready for school. Five
Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis can transform and will transform
your bathroom in forty eight hours and it will be
a beautiful man or piece like ours is.
Speaker 2 (02:02):

Speaker 2 (02:18):
All right?
Speaker 1 (02:19):
The Timberwolves fall one six, and there are so many
storylines in this game. Seven foot one Rudy Gobert as
the Oklahoma City Thunder are eating on the offensive glass
nineteen offensive rebounds. In totality, Rudy Gobert for the night
(02:43):
had nine rebounds. Two of those rebounds or defensive rebounds.
How is that even possible? How does Mike Connley have
as many defensive rebounds as Rudy Gobert. How does Terrence
(03:05):
Shannon Junior, who played eight minutes, have as many defensive
rebounds as Rudy Gobert.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Nazrid three defensive rebounds.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Only one guy had less rebounds than Rudy Gobert, and
that was Dante de Vincenzo. Talking about defensive rebounds, that is,
offensive rebounds, Gobert had seven.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Oh man, my theory was right. Though.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
I called Game two a must win game in Oklahoma
City because.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
I did not.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Believe that the Timberwolves would win back to back games
against the Oklahoma City Thunder in this series. I did
not believe the timber Wolves would be the Thunder twice
in Minneapolis. They dominated them in Game three, winning by
forty two points. But my theory became true in Game four.
(04:15):
And the reason why I had that theory is because
of what happened in Game four. The Timberwolves do not
value the little things enough because the little things in
the end become huge things like turnovers, like defensive rebounding,
(04:42):
like closing out quarters and halves. At one point, they're
closing out a quarter and they could have waited until
the shot clock finished and Julius Randalls shot at three
(05:02):
in the top of the ky.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
He missed.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
The Thunder come down, knocked down a shot. They go
up by born that's two extra points. The thunderhead they
value the little things and the Timberwolves don't. The thunder
had ninety five shots versus the Timberwolves eighty four shots,
(05:28):
and it's all because of the obfensive rebounds the Timberwolves allowed,
and because of their twenty one turnovers seven turnovers in
the first quarter, thirteen turnovers in the first half. The
Timberwolves in the first half. We're shooting sixty five percent
(05:52):
and we're losing. That should be damn near impossible. To
shoot sixty and be down by nine points. Should be impossible. Yeah,
that's what the Timberwolves did because they were lights out. Nikill,
(06:12):
Alexander Walker, Dante DiVincenzo, Jaden McDaniels.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
The role players.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Played their part and did more than you would ever
expect them to do, but Anthony Edwards and Julius Randall didn't.
There were some crazy stats following this game. This one
comes from Greg Harvey on ACT that says this teams
(06:44):
entered today all and one hundred and ninety all time
in the playoffs when having fewer rebounds, fewer assists, fewer
free throw attempts, a lower field goal percentage, lower three
point percentage and lower free.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Throw percentage in a game than their opponents.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
The thunder just made that one and one hundred and ninety,
but the difference in the game was the Thunder had
ninety five shots and the Timberwolves had eighty four shots.
That's eleven more attempts at the basket, and they lost
(07:29):
by two. The Timberwolves shot fifty one point two percent
and made eighteen threes. Before tonight, teams that shot fifty
percent or better from the floor and made eighteen plus
threes were fifty five and zero in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Now they're fifty five and one.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
The Timberwolves made history in all the worst ways, and
you could just see an observed the game and recognize
that the Timberwolves were not doing the small things right,
which become huge things in the end, because they lose
(08:13):
by two. If you have seventeen turnovers in this game,
which is still a lot, you probably win that game.
The thunderhead fourteen.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
They value the ball.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
And the possession. They play smart, and the Timberwolves are
not intentional with the basketball. Julius Randall five turnovers, Anthony
Edwards five turnovers. Those guys had half the turnovers and
here's the problem. Edwards five for thirteen and Julius Randall
(08:52):
one for seven. They combine to make six field goals
from the floor and combine to have ten turnovers. Your
two best players cannot perform like that in a must
win game to even the series at two to two.
(09:13):
Because maybe, somehow, miraculously the Timberwls win Game five.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Probably not.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
I would give them a less than a one percent
chance to win Game five. But even if they did,
they would still have to win in Minneapolis, and they
would still have to go back to Oklahoma City and
win again. So the series is over. They needed to
win Game two.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Or Game one. They needed to split.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
In Oklahoma City Thunder because.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
They weren't gonna.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Win both games at Target Center. The Timberwolves are not
consistent enough and their ability to do the small things
right to beat the Thunder, And that's what we're witnessing.
That's what I predicted, and that's what we're seeing. Anthony
(10:10):
Edwards and Julius Randall combined to score twenty one points.
You're talking about the two best players on their home court.
Shae Gilgis Alexander and Jalen Williams combined for seventy four
points their two best players. I outscored the timberwolves two
(10:34):
best players by fifty three points. Anthony Edwards had just
two two shot attempts in the first half, and he
was a good distributor of the ball six assists, four rebounds.
He was active defensively guarding Shay and being physical with him.
(10:59):
But this is the exact reason why I refuse to
call Anthony Edwards an NBA superstar, but rather say he
has superstar moments like in Game three, when he took
complete control of the game offensively and defensively, was efficient,
(11:20):
shooting twelve of seventeen, putting up thirty points, nine rebounds,
and six assists. But how can I call Anthony Edwards
a top of the line NBA superstar when he shoots
five or thirteen, puts up sixteen points and a must
win game for the Timberwolves in a game they lost
(11:41):
by two, and I hear all of this bullshit about
how he is guarded by the thunder, which, okay, I
get it. So many guys are paying attention to Anthony Edwards,
so many guys are focusing in on what he is
doing and maneuvering and shifting their defense towards shutting him down.
(12:08):
But the problem with that thought is you don't think
the Timberwolves are doing the same thing to Shake Gilgis
Alexander Dane Moore. He sent on this tweet on x.
I asked Ann in the locker room about his bounds
of being aggressive for his own shot and finding his
teammates when he received extra attention, and they firmly believed
(12:30):
he made the right.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Plays all night.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Did say it was frustrating to not get as many
shot attempts as he wanted, but also said more shots
weren't there. Shake Gilgus Alexander is being defended very similarly
to Anthony Edwards, and he managed to put up forty
points thirteen for thirty twelve or fourteen from the three
(12:55):
point line, free throw line, tenn asis nine rebounds. What
is different than the way Shay is being guarded, then
the way Anthony Edwards is being guarded not much. And
the MVP of the league took over this game and
(13:16):
Anthony Edwards didn't, And that's the difference, one of the
many differences. So I think about what Anthony Edwards is
and he's still young enough to become an NBA superstar
on a consistent basis, but I see so much evidence
(13:37):
of him not performing to a superstar standard. Because think
about it like this, what if Lebron James put up
this stat line, the dude would be butchered for weeks.
The dude still gets butchered and ridiculed for the twoy
eleven NBA Finals versus the Dallas Mavericks because he was
(14:00):
so bad and Anthony Edwards and a must win game
for the Timberwolves puts up fifteen points. What NBA superstar
does that the superstar on the Thunder put up forty
because the Thunder. As much as this was a must
(14:22):
win game for the Timberwolves, the Thunder themselves viewed this
as a must win game because they're thinking in their minds,
will you win this game and the series is over
in five? If we lose this game, the series could
go seven, but we win and the series is over.
This game dictated the series and the series is now over.
(14:45):
I thought the series was over after Game two after
the Timberwolves didn't split, but now the series is really
over and Anthony Edwards deserves to be criticized because.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
He did not live up to a superstar label.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
That so many people want to put on him. Sure,
was the defense guarding him a certain way, Yeah, they
were all over him all game. But somehow the MVP
of the league, who faces the same defenses and who
the Timberwolves doubled and try to lock down, put up
forty points and shot fourteen free throws and.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Put his impact on the game. So that's a big problem.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
The Timberwolves bench played well though, the Kiel Alexander Walker
twenty three points Dante DiVincenzo twenty one points, knocking down
open threes. Both went five for eight from the three
point line. And what stinks about this game is that
the Timberwolves wasted their performances because they will not perform
like this again in the playoffs. Both on their games
(16:01):
to that degree, both shooting five for eight. That ain't
gonna happen again. Nikhil Alexander Walker led the Timberwolves in points,
Dante DiVincenzo right behind him Jaden McDaniels with twenty two points.
So what's so frustrating is that the Timberwolves wasted those
(16:23):
performances because Anthony Edwards did not play like a superstar.
Because they're inability to do the small things well on
a consistent basis, meaning turnovers and defensive rebounding. It's not
like the Timberwolves have a small lineup on the floor either.
(16:45):
It's not like they're throwing out a lineup filled with
guards and forwards. They've got seven to one, seven to
two Rudy Gobert, They've got Jaden McDaniels who's tall and lengthy,
Julius Randall who's a brute, Anthony Edwards who's athletic. There's
(17:07):
no reason why the Timberwolves should give up nineteen offensive
rebounds cost of them the game. So did the turnovers.
So it's a frustrating loss. Season's over. I'll still watch
it Wednesday, but season's over. The truth remains the same
(17:28):
regardless of what happens on Wednesday night. The season's over,
the game's over, the series is over, and the Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
Have a lot to learn and have a lot of.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Growing up to do because going into the series, the
Thunder were predicted to win because they do the small
things right. And throughout the series it's been the same
story every game besides Game three. The Thunder do the
small things better than the Timberwolves do. That's the story.
(18:05):
Thanks for watching and listening. Five star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis.
