Speaker 1 (00:07):
I got absolutely hammered by a Jagon McCarthy video I
did last week reacting to Minnesota Vikings content that they
put out on their social channels on YouTube and all
that kind of junk. And I said, this past that
McCarthy threw to Aaron Jones was high and outside. This

(00:32):
past that McCarthy threw to Jefferson was inside and easily
could have been broken up. And the Minnesota Vikings purple
people eaters, that is the fan base, came out barking
at me, Tell me, I don't know football, Tell me
I don't know what I'm talking about. And maybe I don't.

(00:55):
That's always a possibility. But the overall point I was
making is that this is a hype video and these
are supposed to be his best throws. And there were
two throws in the hype video that I thought were
questionable throws. And one of my big points was that

(01:19):
everyone was talking about, oh, he was high pointing the
pass to Aaron Jones. It's a drill. It's what you do.
How many times throughout an NFL game, throughout an NFL
season is a quarterback purposely high pointing a pass to
their running back. Okay, justin Jefferson, Jordan Aniston, TJ. Hoginson,

(01:42):
guys that you expect to go up in the air
and catch it amongst safeties and corners. Hype pointing pass
makes sense, but how many times does a quarterback throughout
an NFL season? How many are they expected to throw

(02:02):
a pass that's high pointed to a running back Aaron
Jones that's five foot nine. If anything, you're gonna throw
a low pass because Aaron Jones is five foot nine,
not a pass that's three feet over his head that
you expect him to go up and get. So I'm

(02:24):
gonna defend my overall arching point in a hype video
that's supposed to showcase McCarthy's greatest throws and get the
fan base beyond excited, which they did. The Vikings capitalize
on an opportunity. I made a few points and I
just got hammered. I mean, you look at my YouTube

(02:47):
comments and they don't bother me at all. I think
it's more hilarious. It's just crazy. People call me idiot,
people call me this, people call me that, people call
him this, stupid, people call me a flat earther. I
got compared to Kyrie Irving. That was pretty good. But

(03:09):
there was another report that came out that was pretty
juicy about Jason McCarthy, and we're gonna talk about that today,
so let's dive into that together. But first, let me
talk about five Star Bass Solutions to Minneapolis, because they
transformed our bathroom in forty eight hours and they can
do the same thing for you. My wife and I,

(03:31):
we did not want to wait six to eight weeks
for our bathroom project to get done. We wanted to
capitalize on an opportunity to get our bathroom done in
forty eight hours. And that's exactly what they did for us.
They took our old, disgusting, mouldy bathroom. He gave us
new floors, a new shower surround, a new bathtub, a

(03:53):
new vanity. We went from one sink to a two sinker,
and it's absolutely incredible. They have affordable payment plans, they
have free consultations. Five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis transformed
our bathroom in forty eight hours, and they will do
the same thing for you. Don't cram into your teeny

(04:13):
tiny bathroom for eight weeks and be devastated by how
long a project takes. Contact Five Star Bass Solutions to Minneapolis,
and they will transform your bathroom in forty eight hours.
That's what they did for us. That's what they'll do
for us. They're called five star for a reason. Five
Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis. Check them out today. All right,
This juicy report about JJ McCarthy comes from Alec Lewis,

(04:41):
the Athletic. He tweets this last week. He says a
lot of good stuff at vikings OTAs today. It's early early,
but thought JJ McCarthy look like the same guy who
is starting to really impress the late last fall, same
Zip anticipation bounce, almost all all of the starters were
present and active. Now. He does prerequist the juicy encouraging

(05:10):
tweet by saying it's early twice. But the fact that
McCarthy looks good, especially since he hasn't practiced for almost
three hundred and sixty five days, is a good sign,
and especially because there really is no quarterback competition this offseason.

(05:36):
Last year, McCarthy and Donald were not even in a
quarterback competition because Donald was going to be QB when
Paul Allen said it on the show, and it has
been reported that by many outlets. However, some people like
to go to their accounts and try to create a
quarterback battle that wasn't really there and say, yeah, McCarthy

(05:59):
had a to be performed well in the second or
third preseason game. That was never happening. It was never
a possibility. Sam Donald was always that guy until at
least the bye week last season and then he got hurt.
But this year it's the same thing. McCarthy is QB

(06:19):
one and Sam Howell or Brett Rippin or QB two
and those are the options behind McCarthy. So if McCarthy
doesn't look good, what are you doing? Who is the option?
You're bringing in Aaron Rodgers off the street, and well
that doesn't look good either, because if you're bringing him in,

(06:42):
you're clearly having some sort of issue with McCarthy. So
the fact that he's looking good is a great sign
for the Vikings and the part that stands out to
me the most, and I think this is mostly due
to Justin Jefferson's presence. From Alan Lewis's tweet, it says

(07:04):
almost all of the starters were present and active for
a quarterback that missed the entire d of last season
and is trying to get his feet wet and OTAs
and get used to the players and get used to
the system and all those things. To have every starter

(07:25):
pretty much present and actively participating in practice is a
big thing. It's a big thing for repetition. It's a
big thing for consistency. It's a big thin for McCarthy's confidence,
and that is led by Justin Jefferson because if he's

(07:45):
showing up and if he's there to voluntary activities, which
he hasn't been to since his rookie season, then every
other player that's important on the Vikings roster feels to
also be present because if your best player is humbling
themselves and participating in this kind of thing, then if

(08:10):
you're a good player like Jordan Andison who's going to
be suspended for a few games, or TJ. Hockinson who
missed the beginning of last season due to an injury
from the season before, then, it doesn't look good if
they're not there. So the Vikings early in the twenty

(08:32):
twenty five season have the right mentality and preparation to
win big because the small details matter. A few weeks ago,
I did a podcast on McCarthy's small details and the
fact that I don't have to worry about McCarthy playing
call of duty like Kyler Murray, and the fact that

(08:53):
I don't have to worry about what McCarthy is doing
off the field because I know he's going to be
preparing his mind and body to the man to be
ready for football on Sunday. And I got hit hard
with that because I was like, thirty minutes a day matters.
Thirty minutes of call of duty matters. If you can
take thirty minutes of call of duty per day and

(09:14):
take that towards watching film or preparing your mind and
studying the playbook, that matters. The small details matter, and
this is a small detail, the small detail of the
Vikings preparing themselves early in OTAs and getting reps, finding

(09:35):
the timing, getting the consistency. It matters for a guy
like McCarthy to already have reps with their offensive units,
and instead of going into training camp trying to figure
it out for the first time, to have already those
reps in OTA's matters. So it's a good thing that

(09:58):
the Vikings are doing what they're doing. And hopefully the
hype video where McCarthy overthrew Aaron Jones was just a blip.
Maybe he didn't throw that many throws and that was
just one of the throws, or maybe it was a
drill that everyone is telling me was a drill. Or
maybe I'm right too. Why is he overthrowing Aaron Jones,

(10:19):
a five foot nine wide receiver running back? All right,
that's point number one. Number two the story Number two,
The Minnesota Vikings extend Quessi Adolpho Mensa to a multi
year contract. According to Tom Pelissaro and Ian Rappaport, the
deal was signed Thursday night, and Minnesota is thirty four

(10:42):
and seventeen with two playoff trips since Kevin O'Connell and
Adolpho Mensa arrived. Now both are signed for years to come.
This was a story because the Vikings have letting this
play out longer then most have anticipated, because following the season,

(11:04):
the Vikings locked up cameral connell pretty quickly, and because
of Quesse's drafts, this has been more of a questionable
extension because you look at his drafts throughout the years
and hardly any of his players have hit, and they've
majority been buss and where Quesse has really dominated and

(11:31):
made his impact felt his through NFL free agency. So
this one waited a little bit longer. But the overall
point that I want to make is that the Minnesota
Vikings have always taken care of their people that have
put forth good records on the football field or good performances,

(11:54):
and the Vikings being thirty four and seventeen with O'Connell
and a Doufho Mensaw, they were always going to get
this contract done. There was never any possibility that the
Vikings would not extend Adolpho Mensaw because of the record
the Vikings put forward, and Adolpho Mensa he never really

(12:15):
gives you anything at the podium, but what he has
said at the podium is that he's not concerned about it.
And the reason why he wasn't concerned about it is
because the Vikings have a clear have shown clear evidence
that they extend their guys. Justin Jefferson, there was never
any doubt that that contract was never going to get done.

(12:37):
It was always going to get done, regardless of what
people like Peter Flooriol threw out there. They were throwing
crap against the one hoping it sticked. And the Minnesota
Vikings were always going to extend the best wide receiver
in football. They're always going to extend Kevin O'Connell, despite
reports coming from who knows where about teams attempting to

(13:01):
trade for Kevin O'Connell. I'm sure teams were trying to
trade for Kevin O'Connell, but it doesn't mean that the
Vikings were interested in training Kevin O'Connell. There's gotta be
interest from both parties. And when you report think from
one side, it blows up and looks preposterous, and it
looks scary, but it is preposterous. It's ridiculous. It was
never going to happen because the Vikings were never going

(13:24):
to trade O'Connell, just like they were never going to
trade justin Jefferson. So I see these stupid idioc reports
and you gotta look at it from both sides. Are
teams interested in trading from Jefferson? Yes? Are teams interested
in trading for O'Connell. Yes? Are the Vikings interested in
departing from either of those guys? The answer is no,
So pull your head out your ass and understand the

(13:46):
basis of these reports. They're coming from thirty two NFL
franchises and not the Vikings, and the Vikings have shown
a consistent ability and want to to extend the guys
that have put together great performances and great teams. And

(14:08):
that's what they did. And now a do Fo Mensa
has his contract. He feels secured. Kevin Kahn has his contract,
and now it's time to earn it. I mean, if
they get fired after two seasons, I guess they'll be
paid for a season longer. But now it's time to
earn it. Now it's time to showcase that you were

(14:30):
worth this kind of contract, and then you can get
another contract after that. So hopefully that's what happens. Thanks
for watching this episode. Hopefully it didn't fire you up
too bad today, but I appreciate you watching. Anyways, remember
five Star Bass Solutions in Minneapolis. They are the best.

(14:50):
They'll transform your bathroom in forty eight hours. That's what
they did for us, free consultations and affordable payment plans.
Five Star are bast solutions of mineaples. All right, everyone,
you have a good day. Take care
