Speaker 1 (00:07):
Is the Minnesota Vikings confidence soaring in JJ McCarthy because
this latest report is indicating so so all good things
for the Minnesota Vikings. We're going to talk about that
today and inside report from Jeremy Fowler discussing where McCarthy
(00:28):
stands after days of minicamp and OTA's organized team activities.
But first I need to talk to you about Five
Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis, because they transformed our bathroom
in forty eight hours and entire bathroom, and they'll do
the same thing for you. New floor, new shower, new tub,
(00:51):
new sink. We went from one sink to two sinks,
and new vanity. They did everything for us and we
didn't wait six to eight weeks. Five Star Bath Solutions
of Minneapolis remodeled our bathroom in.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Take a look at these before and after pictures if
you're watching on YouTube. Before we had a blue floor,
a blue step walking into the shower, handrails everywhere, and
we didn't like it. It was outdated, it was disgusting,
and it was moldy. They came in and wiped out
the entire thing. They got rid of the step, which
really opened up the bathroom. We got a new floor,
(01:29):
a new surround, a new tub. They got rid of
the mold in the shower. We went from one sink
to twosings and a new updated vanity, and it is remarkable.
It only took them forty eight hours, took them two days,
and we have our entire bathroom back and it's affordable,
affordable payment plans, free consultations. Five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis.
(01:54):
Five Star Bass Solutions of Minneapolis. Their work is in
the name. They knew, five star work. Five Star Best
Illusions of Minneapolis. Contact them today. All right, this report
about jaj McCarthy, Jeremy Fowler, take it away.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
Well, E scould be. I thought it was supposed to
be confidential. We're not supposed to share. This is all public.
I was told to me. The Vikings feel like JJ
McCarthy in day nine of these offseason workouts was a
lot stronger than day one coming off that me issue.
They knew he could start a little slowly, but they
like the way he's throwing the ball. They feel very
comfortable with where he's at going into training camp. They
didn't sign Rogers and went with McCarthy because they believe
(02:30):
in their three year plan a young quarterback they like
on a rookie scale, so it will be aggressive on
the roster without them, they believe they could win a
super Bowl in the.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Next three So Jeremy Fowler saying that McCarthy looked a
lot better in day nine of organized team activities than
he did in day one. Looks stronger, looked healthier, looked better,
looked more fluid, all of those things, which is a
good thing and something that is expected because I think
(02:58):
that we need to be fair about McCarthy in terms
of his comeback timeline. When McCarthy went down with the meniscus, sure,
maybe he could throw a ball, but he's not moving,
no rhythm, no step backs, no dropbacks, no scrambling, no movement.
(03:20):
The dude was basically glued to his scooter for a
long time and he could not take the reps that
he wanted to or needed to for a long time.
So it is going to take him some time to
get back into a situation where he feels confident delivering
(03:42):
the football. He has the footwork down, Sure he could
work on all the mentals, study tape, study film, watch
vikings players and opposing players to get a read on
what they do or what they don't do. But as
far as the physical part of his game during the
(04:07):
OTA session and so far in the offseason, the dude
is playing ketchup because he has not participated in throwing
activities since last August, since the preseason game versus the
Las Vegas Raiders. So from that standpoint, we have to
(04:31):
understand the process of McCarthy coming back. So in one way,
it's like, is it concerning that he threw an interception
for three straight days? Yes and no, Because one it's
OTA sessions. Now is the time to see what works
(04:51):
and what doesn't work. So if you throw a pick here,
you throw a pick there, not a big deal. But
it is also just OTA session. You're not playing one speed,
You're not going as fast as you can. This is
not real live snaps where the defense is throwing ten
different kinds of junk in your face to try to
(05:14):
get you off your game. So from that standpoint, it
is a little concerning. But like I said before, it's
also getting your rhythm, finding out what we're seeing what
doesn't work, And McCarthy was vocal about that. He said,
now is not the time to try to pretend to
be perfect. Or try to be perfect. It's about figuring
(05:34):
out things learning from your failures, which I think is
a mature way to look at things during early camp
of organized team activities. Plus, I'm sitting on a take
here and I'm going to deliver it right now. I
(05:54):
think McCarthy has a big practice.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Advantage over a most, not all, of other NFL quarterbacks,
meaning this.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Brian Flores is one of the top defensive coordinators in
the league and would have another head coaching job if
he wasn't suing the NFL and had a lawsuit, he
would probably be a head coach somewhere else. But with
that hanging over his shoulders and over his head, teams
are like, Eh, let's wait for this thing to get
(06:34):
solved first.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
But the fact remains that.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Flores has a top defense that throws ten different kinds
of junk at quarterbacks and McCarthy gets to get practice
reps against a touted defense all off season. And I
(07:04):
think that was a huge advantage to Sam Donald. For
Sam Donald last year to go up against Brian Flores's
defense and OTAs in training camp and practices, I think
was a huge advantage for games. If you are a quarterback,
playing against a crappy defense every single day, they are
(07:26):
going to be things that work in practice that don't
work in games. And it's the exact opposite with Brian
Flores's defense. You are going to know what will work
in games and what won't work in games against great
(07:48):
defenses because you are playing and practicing against a great
defense every single day.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
And I want to.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Word it like this, I think this is a fair comparison.
In baseball, you put a little weight on the bat
and you take practice reps with the bat, and then
when you take that weight off, the bat is faster.
You can swing the bad faster because you're swinging something
heavier and now it feels like you're swinging something lighter,
you get more speed. And it's the same thing with McCarthy.
(08:28):
McCarthy when he is practicing versus the Viking's own defense
that has added strong players via free agency all over
their roster, is like practicing against a team practicing with
(08:50):
a weight on. He's practicing with some resistance, and when
he goes into the game, that resistance is not going
to be there as much because the Vikings have a
top five defense. So I believe that McCarthy does have
a practice advantage over other quarterbacks in a similar situation,
(09:16):
So I think that is a huge advantage. I think
that is a big deal because McCarthy every single day
is getting valuable reps against top echelon defenders within the
Minnesota Vikings roster and organization. So I think that is
(09:37):
a good thing and I think that's something to be
excited about. There's so many other stories to cover within
the Minnesota sportsland. I took Friday off, and I always
take the weekends off now because I'm a busy, busy man.
I can't do seven days a week anymore. And I
was doing six days a week with just one off day,

a lot to cover this week on the podcast. Make
sure you hit that follow button if you're watching on
