Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Money Movers. Welcome to Money Moves, the daily podcast
determined to give you the keys to the Kingdom of
financial stability, wealth and abundance. I'm Tanya Sam and our

(00:20):
next guest is a model, actor, producer, and an American
fitness trainer building her fitness empire through the Polar Fit
for Life brand. Money Movers. Please welcome Polar Sanders. Hi. Polar, Hi,
how are you? I'm excellent. It's so exciting to have
you on the podcast today. I'm so excited to share

(00:41):
with our Money Movers audience all about your journey through
entrepreneurship and of course launching your newest endeavor. Yes, thank
you for having me. I'm so excited about this. It's
been a long time coming and it's finally here. Yeah.
I mean a lot goes into this, and of course,
you know you've had an illustrious career. Um you've gone

(01:04):
from modeling to acting to finish to fitness as well.
So let's start at the beginning and can you sort
of fill our audience in on like who's Polar and
where how you got here? Oh my goodness, Well that's
a loaded question. We're a love it, We're here for it.
But yes, I started out modeling and um, I was

(01:27):
signed with Elite Models and Ford Models, and um kind
of just spell into acting. Um it was like a
natural progression. Um. And then started a family, got married,
started a family, and UM, still wanted to pursue, you know,
my career in entertainment so to speak. So I kept
acting throughout you know, raising my children. It was important

(01:50):
for me to be a stay at home mom and
nurse and all that other good stuff. And so while
doing that, of course, coming from the realm of modeling,
I was always very health conscious and wellness conscious and
in the gym all the time. And um, of course
after having the babies, you know, you know, and your body,

(02:12):
your body for sure, right right right, there's never a
checkout time. UM. But it became, um, it was a
family affair very much like literally all three of my
children would work out with me all of the time,
like literally all the time. So it helped them in

(02:33):
their career obviously. Now I have two in college, two
boys who play football on the same college football team
at Jackson State and my daughter Shalom I, who will
be playing basketball, um so senior year. So she's going
to college for basketball as well, and you know, being
fit and working out even during the off seasons, which

(02:54):
there kind of were never any off seasons because they
did all sports. Um yeah, just help them progress as
young teens and you know kids and not in the
college years, so they're used to putting in the time,
they're used to caring about what they eat and and everything.
So it was it was very natural and very good

(03:14):
for my family and our environment, um to have a
mom that was in health and fitness honestly. So um.
Then finally, you know, I had the time to really
focus on me, not that to are in college and
one is on her way, uh, to to write and
produce and to make my own music for for my

(03:35):
fitness videos, and to finally answer all of my fans
and supporters who have been with me for so long.
So thank you guys. And here it is. Oh let's see. Okay,
So Polar, tell everybody about this project that you've just
sort of launched. We're super excited. I know you put
so much into it. It's almost like years of hard

(03:56):
work I've just paid off and you've launched your own video. Yes, yes,
so my new baby, yeah baby, that's right, Yeah, my
new baby right. Um. There's seven videos in total, um,
and it's comprised a flow of hit cardio, upper body,
lower body bands, waited workouts, abs of course the booty

(04:19):
of course because you know, of course everybody right right,
so um it was specifically choreographed to kind of expedite
your your fitness desire, so to speak. So if you
know anything about fitness or working out, there are certain
moves that you can do behind other ones that could

(04:40):
um improve your your your muscle toning, your muscle building,
shutting fat, just shaping at an expediteed manner. And I
need a lot. I can run a long distance a
long time, but but why not get there with a sprint?
You know what I mean? Yes? So right, So, um,

(05:00):
you know these these workouts were designed. You can do
them back to back, you can do them three or
four times a week. Um, you know, pick whatever fits
your schedule. Um. And uh, the other important things that
I was able to hook up with a Grammy Award
winning UM producer the key Ryan Belcher, to comprise and

(05:22):
just make our own music. Music is so important to
me when I work out, It could really make or
break a well. Absolutely, I have my specific playlists for
different workout moods, for days when I need an extra
you know, kick of energy or you know, I do
everything from cycling to running, so I get it, like
music is the motivation that I need, especially like during

(05:47):
the pandemic where we've seen we've had to do a
lot of solo workouts. So being able to create your
own music, that's next level. I know. I know. It's
kind of the family too. My Sunshino he produces and
he writes and wraps and sells in the Shador. But um, yeah,
it was such an awesome experience for me because I

(06:10):
was able to put my thoughts into reality and really
manifests the feelings that I feel in um, you what
so many people have been asking me for. So it
does give you that inspiration, It gives you that drive.
For those who are fitness gurus, it takes you to
the next level. For those who are a novice at fitness,

(06:31):
it puts you right in the place and the mindset
that you really need to be. The music was created
and forty two four thirty two hurts, So it's it's,
you know, unconsciously getting into yourself, gaining its own atmosphere
of inspiration and motivation and healing. So um. Not only

(06:52):
are you inspired by the fitness trainers that I feature,
which are all a melonated cast and they're absolutely beautiful,
uh yeah, but you you you hear the music and
you hear the tones, and it's across culture and it
just it gives you that that earn that energy that
just makes you want to keep going. And that's what

(07:12):
you need in a workout video. I just need the
extra push to keep me going because there's days when
you're like, you know what, I'm done, I'm gonna stop,
and you know, music can change that, the instructor can
change that, and you're like, Okay, I've got ten more
good minutes in me, and then before you know what,
you're at the end of the tape. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah,
And you really, you really see you know a lot
of times in the workout videos that i've I've seen

(07:34):
and I've I've seen and have done some really good ones,
but the trainer really isn't working out. They're walking out
and talking to you. But I'm I'm there with you.
All the trainers are there with you. You see us,
you see us tire out, you see us burn, you
see us sweat Oh my god, come on, keep going,
you guys, just a little bit more push push, push,
And that makes the difference. The feedback that I've gotten,

(07:55):
that that makes the difference in the whole world. That
you have someone there with you, you have someone they're
experiencing what you're experiencing, and it's it's like, yeah, okay,
if you can do what, I can do it too.
So it was a lot of fun to put together.
It's it's a lot of fun to do. Um So, yeah,
I get it. You can download it, you can stream it.
You can go to best buyer Amazon, um, you can

(08:16):
go to the clar Fit for life dot com and
all wait, wait, palar go slower. I want everyone to
get out your notepads so that you know where to
find it. You can find it in stores at best Buy,
the DVDs at best Buy. Yeah, it's on Amazon. Okay.
You can stream it on video. We'll have a few
more platforms coming out rolling out within the next few

(08:38):
months as well. Um So right now streaming on video.
You can purchase it, or you can stream it um
and on Amazon. You can get the DVDs off Amazon
as well, or you can go to my website. Pillar
Fit for Life dot com and there's all the links
that you'll need right there. So Pillar, we have so
many butting and aspiring on preneurs, people who are trying

(09:01):
to launch a business. And what I love about this
is this is something that has been your natural passion
for a very long time. You talk about, you know,
growing up with a family of kids that were all
in athletes and in sports. When did you decide that
you were like, hey, there's something here I would like
to actually make money from this. Oh gosh, well, you know,

(09:22):
I've I've led an amazing life thus far, you know,
And um, while the children were little, UM, we formed
a group UM it was Truth Sports, and so we
saw a lot of kids who were not getting the
proper attention or training in sports in general. So we
were able to gather thousands of them around the DFW

(09:46):
Metroplex and and create a whole sports UMU company for them. Basically,
But while the children were in the game or practice
or whatever, I would see the pay parants and you know,
the siblings just sitting on the sidelines, and I couldn't
do that. I'm like, we're out here for four or
five hours. I could be in the gym, I could

(10:08):
be doing something and so then I would work out
and then um, you know the moms and dads they
you know, they were like, hey, do you think you
could help my my other you know child a little
weight or up, and can we do it with you?
So literally, I began having four hundred, five hundred people
at one time at these practices and at the games

(10:31):
working out with me, and it was all for time. Yeah. Yes,
it was amazing. So I'm not a nutritionist, but I
have enough training on what right, yeah to help people out.
So um, I was like, wow, a lot of people's
lives were changed, um, you know during that time period.

(10:52):
So um, you know, my online fans were asking me
for assistance and you know they were just play as
I couldn't get to. So I thought back then, like
maybe ten years ago, Okay, you know, I'm gonna do
something for you guys as well. And the easiest way
for me to connect to my audience was through putting
something out digitally. So this is how this was. Wow,

(11:15):
that looks amazing. Yeo, thank you? Yeah, oh wow, that's
really great. Okay, So, like, can you talk about what
your biggest resource has been as an entrepreneur. Do you
have mentors as it be in books are the Internet? Like,
who are the people that you turn to when you're
like struggling with a big business decision or looking for help?

(11:37):
Oh my gosh. So I'm I'm the I'm like really
the nerdy type. So I am forever doing research on everything,
and I pride myself on being on the cutting edge
of health and wellness anyway. So I'm that person. I
would go out and try if there's a new like
machine out or a new serum or whatever. You know,

(11:59):
He's like, Okay, I gotta try at first, right, And
I'm like, you know, getting things from overseas and I'm
bringing them to my family and I'll try it for im, like, hey,
you guys, try this, it works or you know whatever. Um.
So I'm always on the internet and I'm always doing research.
I'm always looking overseas and worldwide for health, wellness and
fitness ideas or um, you know, mechanics, anything that's up

(12:21):
and coming in new never forgetting the old school ways
because the reason they're they're here and they lasted this long. Um.
But really, my my source has been really my family,
Like my sister Candy she's a big researcher as well. Um,
so she'll bring her knowledge to the table, her experience

(12:43):
as well. Um my mom, you know, she's like always
the voice of reason as well. But I think business wise,
my biggest mentor has been J Prince, the owner of
rap a Lot Records. Learned so much, so much business
wise from him. Um, it's it's been amazing, amazing. He's

(13:08):
an awesome mentor, an awesome teacher, and um yeah, gosh,
I love to hear that because I feel like, oftentimes,
especially for you know, the women in our audience, women
of color, were really intent on finding a mentor that
looks like us. Like black women want a black woman
mentor in their industry that looks that looks like them,

(13:28):
because there's you know, we're looking for a little bit
more sisterhood. But I always love when we find women
who who find a mentor that doesn't look like them.
You know it's a man or someone surprising like that,
because sometimes you you're surprised by how much you learn
because how different the perspectives are, or how a man
might teach a female, like in a very male oriented perspective,

(13:51):
just go out there and get him you've got to
toughen up, and sometimes those are the lessons that are
the hardest to learn, but take you the furthest Yeah,
and that's very very true. Like, um, I was able
to partner with Victoria Thomas who owns a journey fit
here in Dallas and we're opening one out in Houston
as well. Um so more of a partnership with her,

(14:12):
and I understand it. I understand the sisterhood. I understand
the camaraderie and the shoulder to lead on and hey,
what would you do in this situation? And that's that's great,
But yeah, to to go to that next level, to
take me outside of my own box or how I
would normally handle something or um, I don't know. I'm

(14:32):
more of an empathic type of person, so I feel
a lot, you know, and I go through cut things
a lot. So also learning how not to get personal
and business like women, you know, but not having to
take on a masculine persona. It's important to me as well,
you know, I don't don't have to be that cut

(14:53):
throat in a masculine way, but still be able to
handle my business in my own personality, which yeah, which
I think, um uh not necessarily mirroring a lot. But
but j J is very laid back and he's very
very calm about the way he handles himself in business,
and I think that's kind of more like I am.

(15:15):
I don't think I've ever met anyone more calm than
me or more laid back than me. And I'm like, who,
who is this? How do you like this? Yeah, but
it's been it's been sometimes tough lessons to learn, you know,
because they're not always on the same road or we
don't always think the same way. But I'm like, Okay,
well you've gone a lot further in business than I

(15:37):
have thus far, so let me take notes. And I
also feel like, definitely, how you know, the older I get,
the more I have I understand that messaging of like,
you know, being able to combine my own personality things
that are important to me and taking little pieces from
others to it. So it's like you don't lose yourself,

(15:57):
but you just can accentuate your own superpower hours, but
you know, you become the best of the best. And
it's like it's it's a journey. It's absolutely a journey.
It is it is. And in learning what he did
in in music, the acumen that he has in music,
and then of course with his wines and his book. Okay,

(16:19):
how does that translate to fitness? You know, how how
can I use these things? So it began to be
a stretch of the minds. And of course business is
still business, but it's now okay, how can how can
I use what I've learned over here to and translate
it to what I do? So that's that's been an
unfolding and quite exciting, adventurous to say the least, but um,

(16:44):
but it's definitely helped me grown as a businesswoman and
as an entrepreneur um and and creatively as well. So um,
and I'm a lot more introverted, I think. So that
would totally surprise me because you have like a sparkling personality. Um,
thank you. Yeah, I totally am. I'm so introverted. But

(17:07):
I think, Um, even while I was on the tour,
the book tour with him and just assisting in that manner, um,
there's so much that I learned and gleaned from you know,
how he interacts with people, and you know, the compassion
that's shown and I'm like, wow, that that makes me
feel good to watch and I'm really like this when

(17:28):
when I'm with someone one on one or training them
one on one and I, you know, just looking for
the future, I was like, Okay, how could this? How
can I do this with a bunch of people at
the same time, And then seeing it happen, I'm like, okay, okay, yeah,
I probably do that because family is so important to
I also want to ask this question. You talked a

(17:49):
lot about your kids being athletes from a very young age.
How do you think about that and correlating to and
you know, building disciplined, you know, becoming a good entrepreneur.
Do you see the you informing each other? Oh my gosh,
they help one another so much. It builds teamwork. Number One.

(18:10):
You have to be absolutely disciplined. And it's almost like
you're your own entrepreneur anyway, because you're responsible for your timing,
you're responsible for your own equipment, You're responsible to come
to the table with a talent that should be better
than last year or last season. So what are you
gonna do off season? What are you gonna do in

(18:30):
the summer? What are you gonna what are you gonna
bring to the team to make it better? So, um,
I definitely have seen. And what actually went hand in hand,
which was really funny, and I guess I really didn't
connect this until this moment, was that they were also
very much entrepreneurs when they were younger, Like they would
go to school or to the games, and you know,

(18:53):
sell candy and snacks and you know, drinks and stuff
like that and um hat some shirts and little bands.
Remember those little bands were chocolate bars right right right,
and um they were so interested in it that that
we created their own business and they took over. They

(19:14):
saved their money, they had their bank accounts, and so
from a young age, they were doing entrepreneurship moves, you
know what money What you said, like, that's so true.
It's like these kids, you know, they're like in sports,
and sports are very demanding, but you're sort of an
entrepreneur of your own time. You have to manage your
own equipment, you have to juggle homework, you know, have
the discipline to be like, hey, is there an off

(19:36):
day or are you still going to train? That's like
a great way to look at it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
Do I do I sit and go to the playground?
You know what is this? Do I sit and played
on what is it? Um, I don't know what they
have now. Gosh, I want to say Nintendo but that
game Boy, and the people will be like, there is
no game Boy anymore? All right? At least you didn't

(20:01):
say something like Atari or Commodore sixty four. Oh my god?
You know, do I sit in front of the TV
and right or am I thinking about making money? Am
I thinking about putting my dreams into action now? And
I'm so proud of how they are and how they

(20:23):
turned out Because you do you have to section out
your own time for what it is that you want
to do and enjoy life period. So yeah, I'm proud
of that. Well, I'm so proud and I can't wait
to check out your videos. I feel like the pandemic
has taught us all that there's so many different creative
ways to exercise, stay healthy, stay fit, and have fun

(20:46):
while doing it. So I'm really excited. I'll be joining in.
Everybody loves a booty exercise, so maybe I'll start with
that one first. But Pollar, tell us again, what's next
on your vision with Fit with Polar What do you
see coming in the future the next five years, ten years? Mm, Well,
we definitely have more series. So this is a this

(21:08):
is the first series that that we came out with,
and we are so excited about this. But nonetheless, we're
looking forward and have already planned our second series to
come out. So it's yeah, boy, you guys are gonna
love this. But uh, you know, to to really saturate

(21:28):
the market because when you go into the stores or
you see a lot of the fitness programs that are online, like,
you really don't see a lot of us. Yeah, it's
very very important for me. Yeah, like like I have
a melonated cast, you know, and they're beautiful, they're they're gorgeous,
and they're they're the top of their game where they

(21:50):
are and um, you know, I'm excited. My daughter is
a part of it. She was a part of behind
the scenes of getting it together, of of vetting the
exercises and one, you know, one after another. She was
there when I created the music in the studio and
she's on screen. So I'm so that's amazing. I love
this like dynamic mother daughter duo. Yeah that's great. Yes, yes,

(22:16):
so it tells you you know, it's from you know,
for teens, it's for adults, for men, women and children. Um,
you know, more of that, you know, more health, more wealth,
because your health is your wealth, your health and your weather.
We are nothing without our health exactly right, right and

(22:36):
and and wellness. So more of that to come. Um.
I have a few other projects that uh they they
piggyback off of off of the video series that will
be coming out this year too, So um really excited
about that. I'll be announcing those things on my I
G on all my social media and my website. So

(22:57):
um yeah, keep keeps you tuned in. Well. Make sure, Polar,
you tell our audience where they can find and follow
you on social media and let us know your website. Okay,
so my website is Polar Fit for Life dot com,
