along with sharing some inspirational, motivational and very inspiring tips
on how to frame mindset and achieve the abundant lifestyle

the podcast. Thank you so much. I appreciate you alright. Ash.
I'm an avid reader. I have my own book club
(01:05):
that I started out of the out of the pandemic,
and one thing I've really come to understand is how
hard it is for struggling authors to break into the
publishing industry. You know, it's one of those archaic industries
that are run by giants and dinosaurs, and especially for
people of color who are looking to pen and author books,
it's really difficult. However, you have been incredibly successful self
(01:28):
publishing books, and I'd love to hear more about your
journey through self publishing, authoring books and just being able
to put you know, the amazing messages you have out
to the world. Yeah, I think I think it's it's
it's actually a benefit. Um, you know that the self
publishing world exists now for that reason. When you think
about the way the archaic publishing uh you know system
(01:52):
is industry is it's almost like the music industry right
where Um, you know, if if you want to get signed,
you got to get noticed and jump moves and then
you get a percentage. You don't really own anything. And
so you know, for me, um, you know, I started
my journey in two thousand nine. I was I was
a banker, um you know, working at one of the
top financial institutions in the world. Uh. And and funny enough,
(02:17):
that's why my pen name is Ash cash um and
not Ash Examtis was because um, you know, I was
licensed at the time, and so it was a conflict
of interest for me to write money books while I
was working at the bank, you know, in the words
of Drake, you know, asked for forgiveness, not for commission. Um.
And so I said, nobody knows as cash. And so
you know, I started writing you know, from my from
(02:37):
my pen name, right. Um. But the publishing industry is
awesome because the one thing that um happens is that
number one uh their speed. Right. And so if you
were signed to a publishing company, um, you know they
you know, they there's a process of getting your book out.
But if you have an idea today, um, and you
write it down and you you you get it out there. Um,
(02:59):
you can have a book published in the next week,
in two weeks if you will. Um. And that like,
that's so incredible. This is I think the power of
technology in this new genital world because you could never
have done that years ago. Yeah, and and and and
that's the thing, right, I've written eleven books, um, and
the power of technology has made it so easy. Right,
(03:21):
and so you can literally self published and your book
could be available everywhere Amazon, Bonds and Nobles, you know,
bookstores and so um, it's just a matter of understanding
uh you know, the process and knowing uh that you know,
there's ways that you could get your book out without
even having to write it right. And so I'm gonna
gonna give you a quick quick tip right, get your
(03:43):
parts about authors right. A lot of authors are so
used to writing books and they're like, oh my god,
I got writers blocking things of that nature. What I
would say to anybody who wants to get a book
out Number one, start with the end of mind. So
instead of trying to go in chronological order, say when
this book is done, what do I want my my
my reader to get out of it? And what I'm
(04:03):
gonna do is, I'm gonna work backwards. I'm gonna outline
the book and work backwards. What are the steps that
that people need in order to get that book right?
Step number two though, now, once you you outlined it um,
instead of taking your time to write the book, write
some bullet points for each uh you know step and
literally pretend as if you are teaching this book to
(04:25):
an audience and pull your phone out. There's an app
call honor O T T E R. You can download
honor Um. There's a free version of it. And when
you when you talk into your phone like you're teaching it.
It takes your text and it it makes it into
or takes your your words and makes it into text.
Now you you you have your the bulk of your book.
(04:47):
Take that, you throw that into you know, Google docs.
You add any pieces that you need book done. Actually,
are making this sounds so easy, so easy, so easy,
so easy. Wow. I mean this is the beauty of
it because there's so much power in being able to
spread knowledge, especially within our community. And the topics that
you touch on are really really important. We're talking about mindset,
(05:08):
we're talking about how to create generational wealth. Um, you know,
how to really live our best lives, and you're making
it sounds like it's easy. I love. Here's the thing
tell you books far generational wealth. Though, I think about this,
think about this and an asset. Right, one of the
one of the biggest things they tell you to build
wealth is to change your relationship with money. Right, Instead
(05:30):
of working hard for money, money needs to work hard
for you. And how do you do that? You you
get an income producing asset. That asset pays you over
and over again. Well, what is the book I wrote
my again? I wrote my first book two thousand nine. Right,
it's an asset. People buy it every single month since.
So for for the last you know, twelve plus years,
I've been making money off of that book. Right, and
(05:53):
and it's part of your legacy. Think about this, right thinking,
grow Rich was written eighty four years ago. Know what,
you vote an Amazon right now and google think and
grow rich. It is a number one bestseller and see it.
It was written eighty four years ago. Napoleon Hill died
in the seventies. His family is still eating off that books.
(06:19):
It is a wealth tool, and that's a great way
to put it. Okay, So now let's go back. And
it's interesting because you also talk about you know, I
see all the parallels in your life. You're like, hey,
if you're going to write a book, put the outcome
of what you want and work backwards from it. And
that's also how you've sort of created your your career.
And you told us in previous episodes, you're like, hey,
don't get bogged down and manifesting all the little steps.
(06:41):
Put the outcome that you want and work back from that.
So as we look into publishing, you've now written this book.
You know, you've got this volume it's on Google. What
were the next steps for you? How did you go
about self publishing eleven books? Yeah? So you know what,
once it's out there, I think that the success comes from, um,
understanding where is your audience and then finding your audience
(07:04):
there right, Um? And so you know, I I usually
say that you should buy or borrow traffic. And what
does that mean? That means you know, if if somebody
has a popular podcast, wink wink. Right, So now we're
having this conversation if I connect with anybody from your audience,
what are they gonna do? They're going to look book,
(07:25):
look at my book, and buy my books? Right, Um,
you know, you know, going on on on television. But
even you know, smaller than that. There are so many
micro influencers out there, and so it doesn't have to
be anybody that has a hundred thousand followers. You can
find somebody who has five thousand you know, you know,
you know active followers, you know, and and and do it.
(07:47):
I g live with them, you know, do a Facebook live,
do webinars like, find a way to get in front
of your audience. And once you get in front of
your audience, the goal is not to sell the book, Right,
The goal is it to say, hey, my books are available,
go to Amazon dot com. Huh. Your goal is to
add value. Your goal is to is to let them
know that you are the expert in what you are,
(08:11):
what you're saying. And then once you're seen as the expert,
as the authority, what's the what's the key word in authority?
So what's you see as the authority in your space?
Now they're gonna want to know what did the author
have to say? Because they have the authority and they're
gonna buy your book. Oh that's great. And you know,
sometimes I think people miss that that nuance of like,
(08:34):
you don't need the top influencer with millions of followers,
you know, you just need to find your dedicated niche
of people that are actually interested in what you're selling.
And I think that's the key. I think writing books, publishing,
it's not about selling ice to an Eskimo. You know,
you want people who want to be in the community
that you've created. Absolutely, And that's the thing, you know,
(08:54):
because what happens that people don't realize is that the
beginning part of selling books is is your initial push, right,
But then once your push is done, how are you
gonna get people to continue to buy your books? And
so you have to you have to write a book
that is good, that solves a problem. Right, and it's terrible.
Right if you go to Amazon right now, I have
(09:15):
hundreds of you know, you know, you know reviews on
my books. Why because I'm not thinking about me. Right
when I wrote From the Block to the Bank, I
could have called this to ask cash story, but no,
it's not called to ask cash story. It's saying how
to make the most of your circumstance to maximize your
full potentially. So I'm showing you how this can benefit you.
(09:36):
And most authors missed that mark. They don't they focus
on themselves and their story. I want to know, what,
how can your book help other people? And when you
put other people first, then you receive the blessing. What
like what a great nuance though, because I know a
lot of people are like, I want to tell my story.
I want to write a memoir. But you can do
(09:56):
this and I'm sure if we read, you know, when
you read From the Blocks to the Bank, you'll quickly
see that this is your life, this is exactly the
story that you've lived, but you're framing it in a
way that you can help other people to help themselves.
Like that's you know, that is sort of like the
give back, the give and take, and people very much
gravitate to that because we want to know, we want
to know the secrets, like we want to know how
(10:16):
to get you know, we want to go from the
block to the bank. Okay, So now that you've published
this book, you're also working in other media outlets. So
you have a television show, tell us about your your
your program? Yeah, so we so, uh, you know, we
have a show called Inside the Vault with Ash Cash.
I call it the Greatest Money Mindset showing the planet. UM.
And what we do is we we we are literally
(10:38):
inside a vault. UM. But it's a double entendre because UM,
people think that is your skills and you know, the
your money, that's that's the most valuable thing that you have, UM.
But the most valuable thing you have is your mind,
is your mindset. UM. And so we interview successful entrepreneurs, entertainers, multimillionaires,
(10:58):
and we want to get inside the vault. We want
to know, you know, what did it take for them
to get to where they are? UM. And so you know,
it's it's literally a show about money mindset. We do
go into uh, you know, practical So we call you know,
our our our viewers insiders, and so we're giving you
the inside secrets, if you will, on how to be
(11:20):
successful in you know, whatever our guests has been successful
at UM and so really it's it's you know, it's
a great show that really just focuses on mindset. First,
your story, how did you get there, how do you
how are you maintaining your wealth UM? And then also
some practical tips that are that our insiders could use
(11:41):
to actually you know, you know, mimic that success in
their terms, but really kind of get that blueprint to
wealth and financial freedom. Oh I love that. All right.
So you've been in the vault of some incredibly successful people.
Do you have some idea of like what the top
three themes are that you hear come from these successful entrepreneurs. Yeah,
(12:02):
I think I think that the number one thing, UM,
it's to never give up. Right. I've noticed that every
top entrepreneur UM has a story, a story of despair,
like something happened that that that they could have just quit, right,
something happened to them that said, listen, you you should
(12:23):
just give this all up. Um and and their success
came at the opposite side of them not giving up.
And so I there's a parallel. That's not one person
I interview that doesn't have that story of man, I
hit rock bottom or I was gonna turn around. So
Number one, it's that it's that sticks, that stick tuitiveness,
exactly know what, no matter what right I'm gonna I'm
(12:45):
gonna stick it out. Um. Number two, UM was it
is really about um systems. Right. A lot of people
who UM that that I've interviewed, that that are really successful,
they all have systems, right. They all have changed their
relationship with money. They don't work hard for money. They've
created systems that allow money to work hard for them. UM.
(13:06):
And So they take their skills and they figure out
how to system systematized their skills so that it could
scale up and reach as much people as possible. Um
and if I the last one I would say is teams. Right.
There's an African proverb that said, if you want to
go fast, go alone, If you want to go far,
go together, um and and And I believe that most
(13:29):
people that I've talked to UM they have an army
behind them. They have people who suppordered them, people who
push them like they're the face of their business. But
but they but they have a team, right, and so
you know, those would be the three things that I've learned, uh,
you know from interviewing some some of the top you know,
top people in their in their respectives love it. They're
(13:50):
also easy stitutiveness systems and teams. Like it's actually a
really powerful combination. You know, you need all of those
things to go fire. And I really appreciate ate that.
I love that. Ash. Can you remind our Money Movers
