Speaker 1 (00:08):
S vie for sure, spice. It's time nice and low
and low and lower. Hello, Welcome to the Naughty but
Nice Show. I'm your host, Rob Shooter, and it is Monday.
Normally every Monday, our dear friend Garrett Vogel joins us.
He can't today, he's busy at Z one hundred. So
Garrett also works on the Elvis Durancho, the number one
(00:30):
radio show in the country, and some Mondays he's a
little bit busier than others. I think somebody is out
six to day and Sir Garrett is filling in doing
double the work. We love you, Garrett, but don't worry, naughties.
We've got a ton of stuff to talk about, lots
of celebrity news, lots of breaking stories. Are you ready?
Are you sitting down? You have a cup of tea?
(00:52):
I hope so, because it is tea time. A big
story at the top of the show. So over the
last few days Howard Stern has been blowing up. There
was an explosive story. A friend of mine wrote the
story for The Sun, Jessica Finn, saying that Howard would
be canceled. He is not coming back, so his contract
(01:13):
is up. Towards the end of the year, he's on hiatus.
At the moment, Howard has this amazing deal. Not only
does hear five hundred million dollars you heard that right,
it's a five year contract. One hundred million dollars a year.
That's what Howard Stern has earned for the last five years. Well,
(01:34):
his contract is coming up at the end of the
year and they are reegotiating this. So this is what
happens with these big showbies, these big hosting contracts. Both
sides have to get together and decide how much money
do you want? Do you want to raise, do you
want a workless? You want to work? What is the
(01:55):
new deal? Let's remember in the last five years the
industry has changed so much much. Most people now are
enjoying podcasts, Fewer people are listening to the radio, and
so how many subscribers does Howard bring in? That's the
key here. It's all money. And this is accountants who
are sitting down and working out what does Howard Stern
(02:17):
earn for serious and what does he cost? Well, we
know the cost mind sight is telling me and that
is not negotiable. Howard is not taking a pay cut,
but how many subscribers is he bringing in It's very
expensive to subscribe to sirious. I used to be on
a morning show over there, the Taylor Streker Shows, a
(02:38):
wake up early morning show. I loved it. That's how
I learned to do this. I have mad respect for Taylor.
She's now podcasting, but she's moved on to and so
a lot of people that I knew at Serious have
moved on into podcasting, TikTok, creating content on their own platforms.
Howard is still there and no for five hundred million dollars,
I get it. I get that he's still well. The
(03:00):
breaking news over the weekend is Howard is telling his
staff don't worry, we will be back in September. So
for Howard, it doesn't matter. He's so rich, he is
such a fabulous life. He never ever has to work again.
Let's be honest. He's seventy one years old. He is
a legend, an absolute legend. Lives in the Hampton's now
(03:21):
very very happy with his beautiful wife Beth. They have
all their cats and all were animals that they have adopted.
They are really really active in the adoption community for animals.
So tip my hat to that Howard Stern works from home,
has a studio in his house, doesn't even have to
come into the office. And so Howard has this great life.
(03:41):
Why would he give that up? He said that when
Sirius let him work from home, why would he give
that up? It's a great life. I'm going to be
doing this podcast forever. I love it. I've sited in
a little closet at the end of my hallway. iHeartRadio
came in and fitted it all out, put a microphone
in here. It's like a little phone booth, and it
sounds really, really great. It's a little recording studio that
(04:03):
is set up in my apartment. Howard has that much
more elaborate I think. I don't think he's sitting in
a closet. I think he's sitting in a big, big room.
It's probably much more sophisticated technology. But they all sound
pretty good. A microphone you can buy now on Amazon
is a really good microphone. The computer software now is
really really good. You don't need to be in a
(04:24):
professional recording studio anymore. This has changed the music business
to a lot of stars now can record from their bathroom,
can record from home. So Howard's recording from home, and
it's all this money. Will not take a pay cut,
and his contract is up at the end of the year.
But he is telling staff who it does matter for.
They don't earn this type of money. They need this job.
It's a nice job. They like him, they have mad
(04:47):
respect for him. What's a good sign is the staff
does not turn over very much at the Howard Stern Show.
If you get a job with Howard, you stay for
ten twenty years, maybe even longer. So a lot of
his staff have been there a long time. I've been
at the show. I've never been on it, but I've
been in the green room. I've been at the show.
I'm far too nervous of Howard. He asks really good questions,
(05:09):
but I have been around it, and there's a really
happy vibe there. It's not the Ellen vibe. When I
went to the Ellen show, you knew within seconds minutes
that this place was toxic. Howard's is nice. It's a
really happy place. And so the staff, though are worried,
they've got a great job. They love him, they earn
good money, they're on a hit show, and they're reading
all this press, all this publicity that the show is
(05:30):
going to get canceled. Well, Howard is telling them, don't worry.
Ignore the noise. He promises he'll be back. I think
it's September fourth that he's scheduled to come back, and
he said we will be back. All the chatter ignore it.
There is a negotiation going on, and that is why
we are hearing all these rumors. It's part of the process.
(05:51):
I can't tell you how many stars I've worked for
or have reached out to me while they're in contract negotiations.
The Real Housewives pop to mind immediately they want press out.
There also two companies leak stories. They do leak stories
to get you scared. If I read in the Sun
in the Post, in TMZ on TMZ on Radar that
(06:12):
they're already but nice podcast was getting canceled, I'd be like,
oh my gosh, oh my goodness. When my contract's up,
does that put pressure on me to re sign? So
everybody's playing games here. A serious have publicist, Howard has
a PR team. They all have their people, They're all
doing meetings. How do we get him more money? How
do we get him less days? How do we get
(06:32):
him a private jet? Serious a thinking? How do we
get him for less? How do we cut back the perks.
How do we get Howard to maybe start a podcast
as well as the show. That's what they do, don't they.
They probably won't reduce his his salary, but they will
add work to it. That happens a lot now, It's
happened with me when my contract is up. They want
more for the same price. They really want more for less,
(06:54):
Let's be honest, but they want more stuff. Will you
do tiktoks? Will you do instagrams? Will you do specials?
Will you do extra showers? And so all that is
going on now, I'm told ultimately, at the end of
the day, this is probably going to work out because
Howard wants it, and so do serious snap things go
wrong when one partner doesn't want it anymore. That doesn't
(07:16):
matter what type of relationship it is, if it's a private, personal, loving,
intimate relationship or a business deal, but both sides he
want to remain married. I'm told Howard loves doing this show.
He has a great deal, he has a great life.
He's not ready to retire yet. He loves his life
at the moment. He doesn't need to change, and Sirius
(07:38):
are pretty happy to The numbers are staggering, five hundred million,
one hundred million a year. It sounds mind blowing, but
they would argue that Howard brings in the subscribers. You
have to pay every single month to listen to Howard,
and nobody else there is doing that. I know there's
(07:59):
been some rumbling, some rumors that maybe Andy Cohen is
going to be next. Andy does not get many listeners.
He gets a lot of publicity, he gets a lot
of attention, he causes a lot of bus He's great
at being the showman that the ring master of the circus.
But the numbers are no any of Lea Howard's. And
not only are his numbers smaller. People are not signing
(08:21):
up too serious to get Andy Cohen because we can
get him for free. This is no disrespect to Andy.
We get Andy for free. I think it's half an
hour every night on Bravo, So why would I pay
to get him in the morning. So I get him
at night for free, and he does so much publicity
on social media and they send out clips. I woke
up this morning and I got an email from Andy's
(08:41):
people with clips of him. So Andy's all over the place,
so I'm not paying my extra ten twelve. It might
even be twenty dollars a month to have Serious for
Andy Cohen. Howard you can't get. Howard doesn't do publicity,
he doesn't do interviews. This is what he does. If
you want Howard Sterne and he is brilliant, absolutely brilliant
and what he does, then you gotta pay. I'm told
(09:03):
they will work this all out, which brings us to
our whole question of the day. There are rumors that
Howard will be canceled at Serious x M. In fact,
some people are saying we're days away from the collapse
of Howard's empire. What do you think will he get canceled?
As Serious going to cancel him? I don't think so.
My sources are saying no, but they are trying to
(09:25):
figure out a deal. And it gets nasty, doesn't it.
It does get a little rough, but ultimately I think
this will be okay. But what do you think, naughties?
Will he get canceled? Hey? Go vote on our Twitter page.
I had naughtynser rob Our facebook page is nutty goodzip.
I'm sure to check back tomorrow to hear your results.
Moving along, Kafe Griffin is seething over Nicki Glazer's success.
(09:51):
So the commandy veteran Kathy Griffin is privately pea green
with jealousy over Nikki Glazer's creer search. Tell me quote,
Kathy has never exactly been a past the baton type
of person. I love that expression. She holds onto that
battle of power. And now Nikki has landed some of
the biggest deals, the roasts, the specials, and Kathy she
(10:16):
thinks those jobs were hers, were meant to be hers.
It's a little entitled and it's driving her nuts. So reportedly,
Kathy has been griping about this, calling Nicki Glazer too safe,
too safe. But industry insiders tell me Nikki not only
is a brilliant comedian, but she plays the game very
(10:36):
very well. I watched a special of hers. I think
it was on Netflix or HBO. Oh my goodness. She
was so outrageous, it was so funny. It was a
little bit too crude for me, dare I say, But
it was a different Nikki that did the Golden Globe.
She can adapt, she can go to networks and say,
do you want a PG version of my act? And
she's very, very funny without the swearing or the sex jokes.
(10:59):
She can do that. We saw it on the Golden Globes.
Kathy's act isn't as adaptable. Kathy's Kathy wherever she is,
whatever she does, and she's a loose canon. You can't
take Kathy into a meeting with really fancy conservative advertisers.
Let's be honest. And then Kathy too is much more political.
Nicki Glazer is not as political. It's very much relationship jokes,
(11:22):
intimacy jokes, jokes about her and dating, very very funny
jokes about growing older. That's very very funny too. Kathy
is a lot more political. I saw Kathy at Carnegie
Hall in New York City. She sold out Carnegie Hall.
Don't worry. Kathy's making a lot of money. She's doing fine.
But I think we can all agree the it girl,
(11:42):
the comedy it person of the moment, not Kathy Griffin anymore.
It's Nicki Glazer. You know this happens to everybody in
all jobs, not just comedians or show business. Somebody knew
comes along. When I was coming up, it was all
about Perez Hilton. I was always in perezis shadow. People
called me the nice Perez Us time with it. In fact,
(12:02):
it was a compliment. He was a really big deal.
But now the industry has moved on, and TikTok stars
have taken over, gossip people and substack have taken over
those old blog formats. She's got to be ready to
pass the bat on. I think there's enough for us all.
I believe that I'm happy with my little slice of
the pie. It doesn't need to be any bigger. I'm
(12:24):
not that greedy. I don't want the whole pie. Do
you know people that want the whole pie? Oh, my goodness,
I do just greedy, greedy, needy, needy, needy. The pie
is big enough for all of us. I've carved out
my little piece of the pie, thanks to you naughties,
and we eat it each morning together, each day, delicious,
twenty minutes. Thank you very much. I like this life.
(12:47):
I like this job. I don't think I are jealous.
I don't think I am. There was a moment when
maybe I was a little bit jealous of Andy Cohen's success,
but I'm not. I know Andy, I know his life.
My life's spared. I have bruise, I have my dog.
I have a lovely personal life as well as a
really good professional life. I like my life. If you
(13:07):
said Andy's career or mine, but the life comes with it.
You can't just pick little pieces here of the puzzle.
I pick me. I like my life, Kathy, I get it.
Kathy is from a generation of comedians where it was very,
very difficult, like Joan Rivers, just to be a woman
in comedy. And when you get through the door, a
lot of people slam the door shut behind them. Keep
the door open, Kathy. If you're listening alloo alone, Nikki Glazer,
(13:31):
you are funny. Enjoy the moment. It doesn't last forever,
so enjoy it. Okay, moving along, this story made me laughing,
sort of like a naughty but nice way. Wendy Williams
is driving all the retirees crazy in her luxury senior complex.
So Wendy's been put in basically a luxury senior apartment
community where a lot of very wealthy people went to
(13:53):
enjoy their golden years. It's a magnificent building. It's only
about ten streets away from me on Tenth Avenue here
in New York City. I can walk there in five minutes.
It's really close to where CNN it is. Whenever I'm
on CNN. You can look out the winter and see
Wendy Williams building. It's a really beautiful, upscale, brand new
building and it has a pool in there, it has
a bar in there, it has a restaurant in there,
(14:14):
and very very wealthy people who have retired have gone
to live there. I think you have to be over
a certain age to get in. And it's like a
VIP club. And now who has mooded Wendy Williams. So
sources Tealby they're they're paying top dollar for their peace.
It's about fifteen or twenty thousand dollars a month to
(14:36):
stay at this luxury retirement community and they paid all
this money for peace, not to live next to a circus.
Residents are saying that Wendy's arrival has been anything but discreet.
There are paparazzi outside, there are flashing ambulance lights. There's
been a revolving door about visit her. She's had people
come to visit her, and she acts as if she's
(14:57):
on a set holding court in the lobby. Gossip been loud,
even making diva demands. Some retirees and now threatening to move.
They've told management they're going to move if Wendy, If
Wendy Williams keeps it up. Wendy is larger than life.
I've known her forever. She's a lot of fun. There
is so much goodness in her heart. However, if I
(15:20):
was looking forward to be enjoyed by golden years in
a very peaceful, luxurious building and suddenly the circus arrives
at least once a week, I guess too, I probably
would be a little bit bothered. Oh can't we all
just get along? Can't we can't? We can't be Okay,
(15:41):
We're going to take a quick break and we will
be right back. Welcome back to the Naughty but Nice Show.
I'm your host, Ramshooter. Normally, this is the point of
our show where we go to the polls that are drm,
but we're not going to do that today because Friday
we really had to break and talk about the devastating
news of Clarkson's ex husband Brandon, who passed away of
(16:03):
cancer just forty eight years old. We do not do
poles on people's death. What question can I ask? None, No,
we don't do it, So there's no pole results the day,
But don't forget to vote on today's pole on our
Twitter page at Naughty Nice ram Our Facebook page is
naughty and can't say it And be sure be sure
to check back tomorrow to hear your results. And now,
(16:25):
oh it's time for and nicest of the day. Ooh,
and nicest of the day is Kelly Clarkson, who stood
by her ex husband Brandon Blackstock in his final days.
So Kelly and Brandon's divorce was ugly. Let's be clear here,
it was a nightmare. But while he was dying, she
still showed up. Sources tell me that she quietly cared
(16:48):
for her ex during his three year battle with cancer,
put in a side all their past battles about money,
custody for the kids. They've got two kids, River eleven Reming,
who is nine. Sauces say she just couldn't abandon him.
She couldn't face leaving him alone, no matter what happened
(17:09):
in court in the divorce. He's the father of her children.
There once was love there and he needed love, he
needed help. He knew he was in a really bad way.
Kelly knew, and she found it in her heart to
be there. They said. It has been some really tense years,
but quote at the end of the day. It was
(17:31):
about family. Oh, Kelly, our hearts break, you're a nicest
of the day. And now our Naudyust of the day,
naughty Ndy, Nordy, naughty Nordy. Justin Weaver's friends are fearing
a Britney Spear style melt down and so Justin's in
a curtle. Are really worried about his late night antics.
He was half naked posting pictures and now friends are
(17:53):
whispering the sea word. Conservatorship sources tell me he's spiraling.
He's giving Britney twenty seven and look, oh my goodness,
and not in a cute way. He was spotted Friday
smoking on the hood of a car post dinner with Haley.
His Instagram then went on to show him just in
his underwear, grabbing his crotch, wearing boots. People say, this
(18:15):
is really manic behavior and this isn't not it's not
goofing around Haley. His wife is really worried about this.
She loves him, but she's not blind. She knows this
can't last. People are saying, conserver tors ship, this is
very very serious. Oh, and Naughtyust of the day, Hale.
(18:35):
Let's end with a moment of Rob a little bit
of positivity. I gotta say I started doing this by accident.
I didn't plan to end the show with such a
moment that has become wildly popular. I get more dms,
more information, more requests, more emails about the moment of
Rob than any celebrity gossip. So I love doing this
and I love that it is helping us all to
(18:58):
today's moment of Rub. I'm not here to compete. I
hope we all make it. I'm not chasing your lane.
I'm not threatening by your winds. I'm not measuring my
worth against your timeline because your success doesn't take away
(19:18):
from mine. There is room for us all. I'm not
here to compete. I'm here to see us all rise.
If you get a little jealous of somebody today, remember
there is room for us all. Once again, I'm not
here to compete with you. I'm here to see us
all rise and talking about rising. Thank you to all
