Sources say the Reiner family was aware of how dangerous their troubled son had become long before tragedy struck. Across the pond, Madonna and Guy Ritchie reunited for the first time in nearly 20 years to support son Rocco, but insiders describe the encounter as painfully awkward, distant, and devoid of warmth. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle’s ongoing battle with her ailing father has escalated, with Netflix now pulled into the conflict — a move sources say has intensified an already spiraling PR crisis

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Advice sugar.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Hell lo Lower Lowerllo, Welcome to the nord ve Nic Show.
I'm your host of Shooter, and it is Wednesday, which
means our dear friend Donnie Meecham is joining us. Hey, Donnie,
are you there?

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Loi Low It is Wednesday, and so and so and
so Wednesday, Wednesday, Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
We had a really heavy show yesterday. It was all
Rob Ryer. Who's our lead story today? And then we're
going to move on to some other celebrity news too.
But this story, Donnie, just awful. Let's get to the news.
What time is it, my friends? It is tea time. Okay,
big story. At the top of the show, Rob Reiner

(00:51):
and his wife brutally murdered. It looks like it was
their son Nick that did this. All indications are pointing
to him, although we should be careful here. Anybody is
guilty until they've had a trial, so we're going to
try and keep an open mind. However, I'm told that
just two weeks ago the family had a meeting about
what to do with Nick. It was not a secret

(01:11):
in Hollywood that Nick was a troubled individual. In fact,
at the Conan O'Brien party the day before they were murdered.
I know somebody at that party, and when Rob and
his beautiful wife Michelle turned up with Nick, people rolled
their eyes. He's thirty two years old. It's not like
bringing your ten year old son to the party. He's
thirty two. He got invited to events because of his
mom and dad. People in Hollywood knew he was difficult,

(01:33):
he could be a bit of a bully, he could
have a huge ego. However, they were kind to him
because of who his daddy is. Was It feels weird
to say it was, but I think that's probably the
past tense. Now is probably the right tense. It's complicated
because you hear these stories about him having a chip
on his shoulder, that he could never really be as
successful as his dad, as his grandpa. But then, on

(01:55):
the other hand, was he lived in a twenty five
million dollar house. His mom and dad paid his rent
for him constantly when he was at his own apartment.
They paid for him to go in and out of
rehabbit here like fifteen or sixteen times. He never really
had a job. His daddy wanted to be a screenwriter,
so his dad let him write a screenplay and it
wasn't really that great. If it'd been, if he hadn't

(02:16):
been his son, Rob Ryder, wouldn't have produced or directed
that that film. Let's be clear about that. And so
I think my feelings, which at first were really stunned,
and now I think I'm really angry. It feels really
really like a spoilt brat, like a spoil bra He
had everything to live forward. Now, obviously we're a compassionate show.

(02:38):
We're kind here. I got to be compassionate to drug addiction.
It's a disease, it really is. It's not a choice.
It is a disease. I believe that. So I'm trying
to be kind here, Donnie. But it's so complicated because
this kid had everything we did not, Donna, You and
me have had to rough it. We had tough childhoods.
He did not. From the day he was born, people
band dad, he was invited to the best part is

(02:59):
because of his mom and dad. He could call Stephen
Spielberg on the phone, because of who his dad was.
And to think that we've got to this end of
the story from where it started, with such hope, with
such privilege, with such money, it makes me sad, Donnie
it makes me sad. Also to makes me really really angry.
I met with Nick about five or six years ago.
I was in LA and he had a project that

(03:21):
he was working on and he wanted my advice, and
the project wasn't very good and he wasn't terribly talented.
We met at the coffee shop. And let's be honest,
I only met with him because his dad was who
he was. If it'd been anybody else, if somebody had
contacted me on social media and said I'm writing a screenplay,
rob would you like to meet with me, the chance
on me doing it is not good. And so the
only thing here that made him interest in the only

(03:43):
thing that made Nick interesting was the one thing he
was running away from, which was his legacy, his parents,
his family name complicated. Donnie was going to come out
about this story. But today I'm not so sad. Today
I'm angry. Where are you? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Ardibly sad.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
It's incredibly just and it sounds weird, but it's confusing.
It's what it is because and you know, also, I
think you did hit the nail on the head there too.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
It's like we you have the addiction issue. It has
to be It's very tricky because it's not an excuse.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
I know a lot of people who have you know,
are currently addicted and who have gone through addiction.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
They didn't murder anybody.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
And so I think that it sounds sometimes it's so
easy or flippant to use that as an excuse of
why he, you know, murdered his parents. But it's just
there's no telling what exactly was going on in that
man's head. But he's a thirty two year old man
living at his parents.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
But there is a whole issue that you.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
Have to look at of like just imagine your grandpa
created all in the family your dad made when Harry
met Sally, Like you know what I'm saying, like, these
are just these are not just you know, random you know,
oh look it's that guy who created that six show
on Netflix or whatever, and these are these are legacies

(05:15):
that he would never be able to live up to.
And so it's just there's a lot of pressure there
and that's probably what led to the addiction, which then
once addiction has a whold.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Of you, it has a hold of you.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
And it's just sad because no one knows exactly what
went down that moment. But to not to get to
graphic here, but to slit someone's throat, which is allegedly
what happened. One is enough, but two people, but not
only just two people, your parents.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
Is a different level.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
Of hysteric brutality. It's brutality to shoot somebody's terror derbit,
but to use a knife, it's really personal. It's personal
to think they look and that look them in there,
and while you're murdering one, your mother is standing there
fighting or talking or saying it's put down the knife.
You can only imagine what's going on in that room.

(06:11):
Rob Ryino, he was in his seventeenth a little bit.
It was a big he's a big guy, a big,
burly guy, and he could have liked different and they
probably you would run away, but you're not going to
leave your part. You get down on your hands, on
your knees, and you hug the person that's had their frozen.
It's just the scene. And to think their daughter Romany
came in and saw this, Billy Crystal saw the bodies like,

(06:33):
it's just she's so so heart wrecking. You didn't kill her.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
She's lucky, very lucky. They don't. It's just a tricky relationship.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
What what does the family do now? Do they forgive him?
Like my sources told me that Robriner had a huge heart,
and I did a story yesterday that he would probably
want us to forgive his son if he was alive
today and we asked him, your son has done something terrible,
he would say, yes, he has. He's still my son.
I still love him. It is so complicated, is so rich.
It is so disturbing that this story is going to

(07:03):
go on for a really long time. The last time
there was a murder in Brentwood like this, it was O. J.
Simpson with a family member and like that Nicole Brown,
it was in Brentwood. It was shocking. It's gonna go on.
We're gonna be careful about how we cover it, though,
because I don't want this to turn into a true
crime podcast. We are a celebrity gossip show. I know
you come here for a giggle for twenty minutes, so
don't think we were not aware of that. I want

(07:25):
to cover the big news of the day. This is
the biggest story of the day. Once again, We're not
doing a poll on this. We never do polls when
something's this tragic and so we're going to move on
with the show. Hey, Donnie Love, let's change gears a
little bit. What are you working on?

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Speaking of tricky relationships, but I actually I saw the
photo of Madonna and Guy Ritchie awkward. Well, you know
what's so awkward about it was a little bit we'll
get in to the and the no, we'll talk about awkward.
So Madonna and Guy Richie, which you know, we're married
for years and they did that interesting Movievina, and you.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Know, tricky relationship there.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
But they have kids together, and one of those kids
is Rocco, and I will applaud them for both showing
up at his art exhibit to support their son.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
That is amazing. But it was the first time they've
been together nearly twenty years, which.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Twenty to me is so bizarre as well because Rocco's
what twenty five? I think, I want to say, rocos
twenty five? Has the kids not seen him? That part
is so strange.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
Because how have they not been in the same room.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
They were done on Garridgie, Well they had they had
a really ugly custody battle over Rocco, like and they
and he moved to London. So after they got divorced.
She was she was never around, so they only ever
saw each other through They never saw each other. The
kids only saw their parents, so they were shuttled around
by assistants or managers or eight like. They didn't they
McDonald didn't drop off the kids and say, oh, you're
looking after them. A nanny wood or a security guard would.

(08:56):
But to be in the same room, I think you're
right here. It's nice to see them together, but they
clearly don't want to be together. And there's no rule
that you have to be. If you really don't like
me and you don't want to be in the same
room with me, don't come. Just don't come. We can
come on different different nights. And if I really want
my mom and dad's star power to sell my art,
then you have to suck it up, like you know.
It's that thing about having famous parents here, that's the

(09:18):
topic of the day. It seems there's a lot of
perks that come from famous parents. My dad worked two
jobs that allowed me and Christine to have a lovely life,
to do stuff that he could pay for. But the
downside was we never really got to see my dad.
He was always working, so there's always costs and benefits
to all these situations. To be born as a child
of Madonna. If you were Madonna's son, it would be

(09:40):
an extraordinary thing. The life you live already, it's unfair.
We'll never get to live that life, Donna, you and I. However,
the tricky part is Madonna's your mom. That's tricky, tricky too.
I hope she's a good mom. She's a very difficult individual.
Whatever I've interviewed her or been around her, it ain't easy,
and so I hope she's not like that as a mom.
I don't think people change. I would imagine this is

(10:01):
so difficult. Rocco left, he went to London. He wanted
no part of her. They didn't speak for a really,
really long time. It's nice to see them friends again.
I do wish, though, that Eddie's art opening, she didn't
need to quite look so Madonna rish that's what.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
She looked, and hat she looks ridiculous. She looked ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
She looked. I love you, I've always loved you, but
you didn't like couldn't you have put on a beautiful
Chanel pants suit? It's an art? She went fishes what
we're wearing now, Donnie to do the podcast is more
regular than what she turned up in a costume with
the sunglasses and the legs and the stockings. And I

(10:43):
just guy Richie. Honestly, I look at him. What did
he don't get I don't get it. I don't And
there was a lot of fury Madonna's fan base when
she married him because he was potentially homophobic. He had
sent some really ugly things about gay people. When you
look at his movies, they're pretty misogynistic. And so Madonna,
with all her gay followings, to marry a man that

(11:05):
potentially could be home of her it's messy. But they
did get together for Rockers art exhibit. He's a lucky guy.
I looked at the art. I'm not an artist, I'm
not an art critic. It looks okay, but I think
if it wasn't we couldn't afford it. On her son,
we couldn't afford it. And if I could afford it,
I don't know. It feels like these Neppo babies are everywhere, everywhere, everywhere, everywhere. Okay,

(11:26):
maybe along Megan Mockl, who's not a Nepper baby. We
have to be clear here. It's easy to hate on Meghan,
but she made her own money. She made about five
million dollars on suits, when back when she married Harry
she had more money cash than he did. He had
a lot of houses and Crown jewels and a lot
of paintings and picassos and family family heirloos. But she
actually had cash in the bank. She'd save to put money. Well,

(11:47):
now she's dragging Netflix oh into her drama with her dad.
So so Uss tell me. When her dad checked into hospital
and she did not know what to do, she had
her own PR people involved, but she called the Netflix
publicist and it was the Netflix team that reached out
to the dat they don't like this. Meghan's show is

(12:07):
not doing very well on Netflix. It's not being renewed.
It's over The PR department of a massive company like
Netflix are there to look after the executives and to
make us watch the shows. They're not your friends, Meghan,
they're not your employees, they're not your assistants. It's really
overstepping a line here. I was shocked when I found

(12:28):
out that the people calling were not Meghan's personal PR,
it was Netflix. They don't want to do this. Netflix
team around Meghan is to get us to watch a
cooking show. They're not prices publicists. They're not anger management publicists.
They're not involved in divorces and problems within families. And
so Meghan hit the phones and called these pr people,

(12:49):
and now the Netflix team are just like It just
reminds them why they don't want to be in business
with Meghan and Harry. It's messy. It's just so messy.
Nobody likes a mess. If you've got a problem of
personal prom don't tell your employees, Donnie, If you have
a personal problem, don't you be calling iHeart here to
get it, get it fixed. It's amazing. I see people
make the same mistake all the time. They think that

(13:11):
boss is the people we work with are like a family.
They're not. It's a job, keep it, keep it on
the download, deal with it without involving them. I think
this is a really dumb move.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
What do you think, don It's not it's smart at all.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
And it just all that does is if Megan was
hoping to, you know, rekindle any type of relationship with Netflix,
it's this doesn't help this, This does any thing. It
just burned the bridge for good. Because but the problem
is is that I'm sure they must be under some
sort of contract, and who knows where the contract ends.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
It might end at the end of the year. So
I'm sort of the PR team's like, gosh, darn it,
like we have to do this, Like this is right.
We're in a contract.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
We have to we have to do. Never a good
reason to never a good luck. Yeah, it just reminds
them why, why, why they're gonna end their relationship. Okay,
quickly before we get a break, Patrick's oh my goodness,
it's the Nipper Baby show, isn't it. Patrick is struggling
to land a big role after White Lotus. What is
going on with Patrick?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Well? Patrick, you know he was on The White Lotus
and The White Little Was is a huge show. You
it's mostly known for Jennifer College, but it's a huge.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
And he was hoping, Oh, I'm on this huge show
that's on HBO, and you know what's going to happen
when I'm done with it is everybody's gonna call, everybody's
gonna car and I'm gonna have all these.

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah, just is not happening. And sources are you know,
tehoo scoop there. He's he doesn't understand why he's a
little shocked.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
It doesn't. He is shocked. It is entitled. Is entitled? Yeah,
is entitled. I thought after I had my morning show
on VH one that I would be on the view.
I just assumed that I would be hosting the nightly news.
I thought agents and managers and other TV people would
It didn't happen. It doesn't happen. You've got to make
it yourself. Patrick, if you're listening a love a lower lobe,
even somebody with your last name, your looks the white

(15:01):
lotus on the resume. You got to hustle. You got
to hustle. He's trying. He's trying. He'll break through if
he keeps in it. The question is really keeping it
because he doesn't need the money, he doesn't really need
the fame. He will wisby Patrick, And so we'll wait
and see. Okay, we're going to take a quick Greg
and we will be right back. Welcome back to the
Naughty but Nice have your host, Rob shoots with our

(15:22):
dear friend Donnie. Meet him. Hey, Donnie. We normally go
to the pole, now do dudd, But we don't do
poles when we have a tragic story at the top.
Of the show. Obviously, yesterday we were talking about Rob
Ryaner so no pole and no poll today either, So
let's go straight to my favorite part of the show.
Oh and a personal connection here, Donna, you used to
work for this company and nicest of the day.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Nice to today is Howard Stern and he is shut
down those retirement rumors with a new serious x mdal.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
So he you know we're only he.

Speaker 3 (15:59):
Goes, look, I've signed a three year contract, a new
three year Now this one might actually be the one
the end because it's interesting in the last two or
five years.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
This one is a three years. But it's Howard's turn,
and he's smart, and he goes, I figured out a way.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
To have it all, which not going to make his
fans love him even more because right now he takes
a lot of time off, and he said, now I
get even more time off.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
So he But here's the thing, everybody was this whole
big retirement Howard's going to no Like Serious XM would
not exist right now.

Speaker 3 (16:37):
We wouldn't be talking about serious XM if it wasn't
for Howard.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
And here's the thing, Yes, Howard might not be the
big draw that he used to be. But serious xm
owes him everything.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
And not only do they own everything, they know that,
they respect that and they're loyal to that.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yeah, they've built they've built a house on Howard. They've
built the subscriptions on Howard. And he might not be
the star he was when he when he signed up
twenty thirty years ago. That we've worked there, Donnie, it's
the house of Howard. He has a separate, separate studio.
Everybody in Andy Cohen is a separate wing. You have
to have a separate ID passed security paths to get
into his section of the building. Andy Cohen is sitting

(17:16):
next to everybody else like we're all wedged in together.
That that that place is the house of Howard. Congratulations,
you know, nice work if you can get it. And
his super talenting really is. So it's a nice guy.
Good for you, Good for you. Okay, she's the naughty,
naughty Gail King's leaf lips might have cast their job.
So Gail King, for no reason whatsoever, sat down with

(17:37):
Sherry Shepherd. It was a great interview, but she had
to ask about CBS. Sherry is great and Gail was like,
there might be some changes and there's some drama going on.
CBS doesn't like this. Gail, shut up? Why are you
doing this. You're in the middle of a really difficult position.
Your contract expires soon, probably not going to be renewed.
If it was going to be renewed. Now you've given

(17:57):
yourself a real problem because they don't like leaks. They
don't you know it's interesting if you don't have to
talk about it, don't You don't need to do this.
Like when I get asked if I want to do
this interview or that interview, I say no because I
just know it's not going to turn out well. If ever,
I was asked to do What's what Happens Live, I
would pass because Andy will come at me for all
the stuff I talk about his housewives. So I don't

(18:18):
know why Dale did this interview as a self inflicted wound,
and I would have thought she knew better and naughtiest
of the day. Let's end with a moment of rob
Happiness isn't something you find. It's something that you decide.
It's the moment you stop waiting for life to feel
perfect and you start showing up anyway. You don't need
a new job or a new relationship or even a
new version of yourself. You don't need to lose five pounds.

(18:40):
What you do need is to make a choice. You
need to choose. You need to choose to notice what's
not working. You need to choose to take the next step.
And it takes a lot. It's not easy. It's not
an easy choice, but it's an essential one because happiness
grows when you keep the promises to yourself, You speak honestly,
and you act before all your dad talks you out

(19:02):
of it. So start showing up today. Start now, not
tomorrow's start now, and remember, happiness is not something you're
just gonna find. You're not gonna stumble upon it. It's
not luck. It's something you decide every single morning. Donnie,
I tell myself today, Rob, you are gonna be happy.
It's a choice and gotta say mostly works. Hey, that

(19:23):
is it for today. Thank you so much for listening

to get three thousand, it's terrific. By the end of
