Speaker 1 (00:09):
Advice.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's welcome to the not even Aisha and your host
Rob Shooter, and it is Wednesday, which means our your
friend Donnie Meacham joins us. Hey, Donnie, are you there? Hello? Hello.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
I know we're gonna do something different this week, and
you're used to me carrying the show for Rob. I
know it just gets really difficult this week. You know
it's a little summer end of summer cold or far cold, because.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I had one of those a couple of weeks ago
and you helped me through, so we didn't spread it
over the zoom. I hope, Donnie. But it's good to
see you and thank you for joining us. Have lots
of sweet tea and some honey. You'll feel better. I'll
send over a cupa after we finish. What time is it,
my friends? It is tea time. A big story at
the top of the show, so sure Mendos is opening
up about the beautifully complex journey with sexuality and heartfelt
(01:01):
concert speech. So Sean took a moment during his tour
stop in Colorado to address the long standing speculation about
his sexuality, emitting quote, I'm still trying to figure it out.
So before performing his new song The Mountain The twenty
six years Old he's twenty six now twenty six years
old shared a candid speech with his fans, explaining that
(01:26):
growing up in the spotlight left little room for self exploration.
Very interesting, he said the following quote. I was really
young when I started. He was about fifteen years old,
he said. The truth is I didn't get to do
a lot of things that other fifteen year olds do,
and I didn't get to discover those parts about myself.
(01:46):
He added that sexuality is a very complex thing and
he resisted the urge to put it into boxes. Now,
we should be careful here. We have known about Shawn
Mendees for a long time. We do not out people
on this show. We did not talk about their sexuality
until they're ready to. But I think we've all heard
these rumors, this speculation, and he's heard it too. He
(02:08):
knows what people are saying and he knows the truth
as well. So I think this is an important first step,
and I think it's gonna make him happier. Being your
authentic self is always a good idea. What do you think, Tony, Yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Think I mean, I find it is a little funny
that him like trying to clarify the rumors or whatever
just actually made them more confusing, which I love. But
you know, here's the thing. I think we've all kind
of you know, heard whispers, heard rumors. But I think
at this point though, with Sean, I think, you know,
(02:40):
whatever he's doing, he's Canadian, so let's not forget that.
They're you know, a little more open up there. But
also I just think he's you know, he's young, so
he's like fluid. He's just is like, Okay, if it's
a man, cool, if it's a woman, cool, it doesn't matter.
And I think that the party's trying to figure out
now and yeah, it can be annoying though if I'm
(03:00):
sure it's annoying for him, but it's like, oh he's
Gay's gay's gaining and he's like no, I mean, yeah,
I do like men, but like women do, so like,
don't well, don't force me to do one or the other.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Our generation were gay or straight, Donnie. The younger generation,
people in their twenties today are more fluid. Andrew Garfield's
a good example. Spider Man is now dating again. I'm
told he's dating both men and women. Shawn Mendus here
seems a little bit more fluid than we were oriigionally
led to believe. But I am glad. I am glad
that he's talking about this because we knew, we knew
(03:34):
about this, We didn't want to out him. We didn't
out him, which I truly believe is an honorable thing
to do. I'm told my sources tell me that surprisingly,
it was Camilla Cabello who really convinced him to start
thinking about this stuff. And when they were dating, it
was clear to her that this was a guy who
was struggling with his sexuality. That they never were going
(03:57):
to get married. They had a lot of fun together,
but she's turned now into his best friend, which I
think happens a lot with gay men. Donnie. When we
were fourteen or fifteen, that's when you start to figure
out who you are. You might know from an earlier age,
but when you're about thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, that's when experiences
(04:17):
really set up the rest of your life. And I
do agree it's so interesting that he was denied those
experiences because he was famous. He started out in the
business very very young, and that fame held a certain
weight and secrecy, and he didn't want to ever admit
the truth. And I know to this day, Donnie, even
in twenty twenty four, there's a lot of people, especially
(04:39):
in the music business, that are still very homophobic. They
tell young artists not to come out of the closet.
This is not something from Liberace's generation or Elton John's.
This is something that's going on today and it takes
enormous courage to do this. Sean did not have to
do this. He's doing very well. He's got new music
at on tour, and so he didn't have to do it.
(05:02):
He wanted to do it inside us. Tell me it
was time, And it wasn't the speculation. It wasn't the
rumors that forced him out. Nothing forced him out here.
He's not going to be outed by a weekly magazine.
Sometimes celebrities tell you something before the press can I
poked around. Nobody intended to do this story. This was
his choice. He finally wanted to talk about it. He's
(05:26):
obviously been thinking about it for a long time. He
can thank his ex Camillacabello to nudge him in the
in the direction here that will lead to happiness. But
I think, Donnie, this is all good news. Whatever the
outcome turns out to be here. Whatever he decided, I
think this is all good news.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
I'm excited though, because so Sean lives by me here
in West Hollywood. Hell though, but so I would see
him all the time, and then he when he kind
of disappeared for that like mental health break, I really
wouldn't see him. And this is the thing about Shawn
Mendez is pictures or like if you see him perform,
(06:05):
he kind of looks like a little guy, like.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
A little he's massive, no, like six foot two. This
is really tall.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
And he is built broad shoulders. So every hello, it's
heder secret and you want to see Sewan Mindez. Every
Sunday at the Farmer's Market on Melroe's Place, there's he's there.
He walks around everybody kind of glances like this.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Maybe he saw you too, Maybe he saw you. Maybe
that's why he did this speech.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
We ran into him, I ran We were always running
into each other. It's funny enough. About six months ago,
we were always seeing each other. And there's this cute
little restaurant that I like and he likes it too,
and I randomly would go there, maybe like every other week,
and then that day he would always go too, and
it happened like four times in a row, and then
finally me, because you know me, I can't help myself.
I saw him again and I went, are you stalking me?
(06:54):
And he went but and I was like, why are
you stalking me? And he was like no. I was like,
oh well, I was like we see each other other
the time, and he's like, yeah, I did notice the
same person. And I was like yeah, I was. And
I just walked away and that was it.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Oh well, now maybe he might be a little bit
more open. You've got a big mouth. You'll tell everybody.
I like this. It's complicated. Sexuality is complicated. I can't
imagine dealing with all this and being a star, being
in the spotlight. It was difficult in us. Even though
I always thought I was a star, I actually wasn't
at school, Donal. And it's very difficult. It's very difficult
(07:32):
to get your head around. This is twenty twenty four.
We think it's easy if you're straight. You think it's easy.
If you're an out gay person like ourselves, Donny, it
feels easy. But if I think back to when I
was fourteen or fifteen, it wasn't. It was really, really complicated,
and I don't think that much has changed here. I'm
really impressed Sean has done this, and I'm also too
impressed that the media knew. We've known this for several
(07:54):
years and we said nothing. And I think that's the
right thing to do here, which brings us to our
whole question of the day. Sean is opening up about
a beautiful, complex journey he's on with his sexuality. Are
you surprised? Are you surprised? Nobody wrote about it? There
was whispers, there was rumors. Personally, I'm not surprised, but
are you? Are you surprised? Is this something that your
(08:15):
friends were talking about? Or the fact he was dating
Camilla Cabello. I love that song Sengarita. Did that throw
you off the track a little bit? Here? Are you surprised? Hey?
Go vote on our Twitter page at Naughty n Ice
Rob or our Facebook page which is Naughty Gossip, and
be sure to check back tomorrow to hear your results. Hey,
Donnie Love, what are you working?
Speaker 1 (08:35):
I mean, real quick? A lot of our listeners across
other listeners, I think about our old friend and co worker,
Taylor's Trekker, who came out as a let's been late
in life. It's it's difficult for anybody. It doesn't matter
if you're crazy, famous or just a normal person. It's
just because it feels wrong or it feels mirrored.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
And so you told it's wrong. Do you told it's
wrong your whole life? You grow up watching horrible things
on television, horrible things being said in my living room.
I think my my family are shameful of some of
the things they would say about gay people, not realizing
there was a little gay boy sitting in the room
with them, hearing all this hateful stuff. And so I
do do get it? Okay, what are you?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Tom Brady? So we all know Giselle Bunchen is pregnant
with her jiu jitsu boyfriend, Babe. So she has two
children with Tom Brady. This will be her first with
Joaquim Valente. But Tom, now what was Tom? Thinking?
Speaker 2 (09:32):
That?
Speaker 1 (09:33):
There's no web that he wasn't doing this on purpose?
Posted on Instagram.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Look Krimtin posts in.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
So after things like everywhere. He posted lyrics from Landslide
by the Dixie Chicks, which fine, which is accompanied by
three heart emojis, but in the lyric that says, can
the child within me rise? Above can I sail through
the changing ocean tact like? Oh, but there's no way
(10:04):
he didn't see that. She I know she told him
before we know I'll know that that we've been out there,
but she told HER's no way he chose that exact
moment to put that right now, Landslide by the Dixie
cho There's no way. I'm me, boy, what are you doing?
And this is silly?
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yes, yes, I laugh when celebrities try to be coy
or really clever. Just say congratulations, Grazelle. I would post
a beautiful picture of her lovely family and say, this
is going to be really exciting, this big, beautiful, blended family.
He'll always been alife because they share two kids together.
And so I would just be really nice about this
or say nothing. If you don't think something nicer, you
(10:42):
don't have to say anything. But it does make me left.
These celebrities, Oh, I think they're so clever, so witty,
so coy, so silly. That's what it is. I know.
And the timing of it is so silly and so off.
Tommy say something nice is saying nothing at all. Okay,
Moving along, Liam payne struggles with addiction have resurfaced after
his netflick show has been pushed back, so multiple sources
(11:06):
close to Liam have disclosed that the former One Direction
star who tragically died in Argentina earlier this month, had
previously overdosed and needed to be resuscitated at least once
due to his severe drug addiction. So now sources are
saying what happened in Argentina it did happen before, but
(11:27):
to a different outcome. He had overdosed before and he
had to be resuscitated. He had to be rushed to hospitals.
Sources are saying that his battle with addiction is something
everybody knew about, and they're really angry that his manager,
his new manager, signed him up to do a Netflix
show when he just wasn't ready. He had just left rehab,
(11:47):
he'd been in rehab. He didn't need to jump back
in to work. Sources are telling page six quote his
manager pushed him into doing the show, and there are
a lot of worried text exchange between the friends. There
was just no way, no no way at all that
he was in any shape to do this. I tell you, celebrities,
if you're listening Gallo lo Aloge, be careful who you
(12:07):
hire as your manager. Your manager has a huge amount
of power. In fact, lots of opportunities, stuff that comes
to you. You don't even know about it if your
manager doesn't tell you, because they go to the manager first.
And so hire somebody with the utmost integrity. Hire somebody
who can speak on your behalf. Hire somebody who thinks
(12:29):
like you, who can who you can trust. Donnie, and
I think this is the mistake a lot of people don't.
They hire relatives, their boyfriend, their wife, their husband, their cousins. No,
get a professional.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, I mean the thing is, I get it, like
the manager pushes you because they only make money if
you make money. But you have to think about that
in the long run, they're only doing it because they're
making money. They don't care if you're having a mental
breakdown and you and it just ruins your ruins a
long portion of your life. They just see the check.
So that's the hard part about a manager and all
(13:02):
that type of It's just it's tricky.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Yeah, they look at you like a cash cow, and
they really do. I've worked with a lot of celebrities
and they've had some really shady managers. In fact, I've
met more bad managers than good. Most of them are
not very just good, and most of them have zero qualifications.
They've never been a manager before. They just happened to
marry the right person or know somebody or was friends
with the friends. And so this makes me really mad,
(13:27):
really sad, but it's not that surprising. Okay, quickly before
we go to break, Anna Kendrick is calling out an
ikey director. What did she have to say?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
So she's opening up about a time where she was
on set in a director who is she did not name.
The director asked her to improvise the scene. They just
make it up and there's a hundred extras all around her,
and so she did, she made up something and then
he just belittled her in front of the crowd. So
(13:56):
that's the problem here, is like he set her up
for failure, to her improvise, make something up. Then you
didn't like what she made up, so you just tell
her what to do to begin with. That's what I hate,
what you want when people trid me crazy, when they
do things like this. It's like, tell me what you want,
I'll do it.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
And I can do it. Yeah, tell me you're the director,
what do you want? Do you want this? Happy? Sad?
What do you want? But this? He set her up
to fail. You know, Anna, if you're listening Gallololo, name names, Yeah,
name names. No more of this hiding in the shadows.
If he's brave enough to belittle you in front of
one hundred people, you belittle him in front of the
entire world. Now. I know we shouldn't have an eye
(14:34):
for an eye and a two for a tooth. That
way we never get resolution here. But I do think
that this man I'm guessing is a man. I'm probably right.
It's going to keep doing this. It's going to keep
getting away with it. Sometimes you have to call people
out to stop it. There's one thing a bully hates,
and it's to be called out. I say name names here,
and shame on you. I hate belittling people. I've had
(14:57):
it happen to me so many times, Danny, just the
little respect, and particularly to people like waiters and serving staff.
I've seen people in restaurants belittle other people and I
hate it. In fact, if ever you have a drink
with me at Bottina and you're rude to a waiter,
I leave. I'm not doing it. I just hate it, Donnie.
I think it's one of the most mean, lowest forms
(15:19):
of expression you could ever do. Don't be little people. Okay,
we're gonna take Craig and we will be right back. Well,
welcome there to the Lord of Venaisham and your host
compunert I, dear friend Johnny Meecham. Hey, Donnie, let's get
to the poll, da DA. Yesterday, Jennifer Aniston honored Matthew
Perry on the one year anniversary of his passing. Question
(15:41):
was quite simple, Will jen make peace with this awful loss?
Will she ever make peace with it? Seventy percent said
probably not. You can learn to walk with grief, you
can't outrun it. And so I think here, this is
gonna be going on a long long time honoring Matthew.
It's been a yerk. You imagine that. Yeah, Courtney Cox
(16:02):
just put out a beautiful touch and tribute to Hey, Matthew,
rest in power. Don't forget to vote on today's Paul
will go to a Twitter page at naughty nice rob
or our thanksbook page which is naughty Yosi. I'm mishua
to check back to my hear your results. And now
it's time for the nicest of the day.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
Woo nice of the day. Is Jiti A Garner? She
is love sparking engagement rumors ooh with her boyfriend John
Miller because she was out in about and then on
that finger was a turquoise jim stone. So you're like, interesting,
is she engaged or not? Now I do find it
(16:43):
also rather interesting timing that she would choose, maybe if
she is engaged, to choose to get engaged right as
Ben is going through a divorce. It's very interesting timing there.
I'd like, I will because she's been with John Miller's
for years. I want to say they've met in twenty eighteen,
and it's like years they've been together, and now they
(17:03):
wanted to do now that Ben's going through a very
eye profile divorce, she wasn't given you know what. I
love it because we all know Jennifer and Ben Garner
and actually Jennifer Lopez. Do you've seen the three of them.
They hang out and they see each other. They are
co parenting relationship, but all seem to work.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I wish them the best, even though you're a little
devil Tonny, I do. I wish them the best. And
now I noticed the dayty, Naughty, Naughty. The Neil Post
has revealed a list of demands that you had to
meet if you wanted to go to a Diddy quote
freak off party. So a party planner spoke to the
Post and he said women attending were required to weigh
no more than one hundred and forty pounds and had
(17:41):
to be young and hot. Additional rules when no flat
shoes or pants or jeans allowed, and guests were expected
to wear sure party dresses and high stilettos. They also
revealed the organizers never asked women about their ages because
they were frightened about law regarding drinking. That's the least
(18:02):
of their or is just disgusting, just horrific. If ever,
you're invited to a party that involves a weigh in,
my advice, don't go. I'm not blaming the victims here,
I'm blaming did he Gosh, when you think this case
couldn't get any more disgusting, Donnie, it does.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
It's just then, you know what, The part of it
that actually makes me sad too, is that just so
many people out there are so obsessed with the idea
of fame or being around famous people that they're willing
to go through me. Like a party like this. If
I got an invite at somebody's house and they send
it to us and they said you have to do
all this, this, this, I'd be like, Oh, I don't
want to go.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
I don't want to go. No, I'm not going. And
if you tell me what to what and what my
weight must be to get into your party, it's not
the right party for me. Did He just disgusting? And
that is the day. Let's end with the moment bit
of advice. Do the one thing that you think you
cannot do, and try again, because I promise you'll get
(19:03):
better the second time, the third time, the fourth time.
When I was first asked to do a podcast, it
wasn't this podcast. It was a royal podcast. When I
was first asked to do one, I didn't know what
I was doing and it made me nervous, but I
said yes and I failed. It wasn't very good and
nobody listened to it. However, I had to do that
in order to be able to do this. It's all
(19:24):
stepping stones. We don't start as experts, we become them.
And the only way to do it is by doing
the work. Do the work, Okay, that is it for today.
