The New Orleans Pelicans Podcaststarts right now.
Hello. Everyone and welcome to the New
Orleans Pelicans podcast. If it's a podcast of your New
Orleans Pelicans, as always, appreciate you tuning us in.
Gus, Cat and Gal Jim, I can offer from the Pelicans in
Vegas. I did you sleep last night?
(00:47):
That's what we all want to know.Yeah, a little bit.
I mean, I was out, you know me, Gus, I was out till 4-5.
AMI just had enough time to takea nap before I came on with you
now. So I did get a little sleep, but
that's how I live. Gus, I like it.
No, I like. Like I said, there's a reason we
(01:07):
call you Papa Giorgio around theoffice.
Look, so 9891, man, we're underway.
Pelicans literally tipping off summer league as they took on
the T Wolves and look, I don't know about you.
There's some things that I I I liked and it smiled.
The final 9891 T wolves did win the game.
So much attention. We talked about it a lot in our
(01:28):
podcast. Leaning up to that first game.
It's the draft picks, man. You have a pair of first round
draft picks and Jeremiah Fears and in Derrick Queen.
Derrick Queen 13 points, 10 rebounds and Jeremiah Fears had
14 points, 2 steals in the game.Thoughts on those first games?
Let's hear from Fears first. Went out there compete, got to
(01:52):
play with a lot of my new teammates for the first time and
he's going to. We went out there, we played
hard and we did. We could do all.
Right. And as far as Derrick Queen,
what he thought. About it, it was great.
I started out really, really badand then like my teammates stuck
with me. I mean, I guess I call them vets
for the summer league, but, but but a few of the older guys was
(02:15):
just was just giving me words ofencouragement in the
second-half. I got it going and then I I kind
of picked it up. All right, so let's start there.
You were there courtside checking it out.
What do you think of the two rookies in their first action?
Yeah. I mean, I think it was
definitely a mixed bag. I mean, we don't want to get too
deep into, you know, the bottom line results are stats from
(02:36):
summer league. But clearly the the turnover was
were too high for both of them. There was too many mistakes, But
they also showed a lot of good glimpses of their potential,
their ability and why they both were lottery picks.
So I think it was kind of a there was some good, there was
some bad, there was some in between.
But definitely looking forward to seeing how they build off of
(02:59):
getting that experience when they play game two against the
Lakers on Saturday all. Right, let's kind of go into a
little insurance and outs of them that stood out to me.
Obviously, I mentioned the points from Fears in the 2
steals, 7 turnovers for him, 7 turnovers for Derrick Queen.
Here's what head coach Corey Brewer had to say not only about
Fears, but also those turnovers.Young, young point guard.
(03:22):
We did a good job. We just had way too many
turnovers. The whole team, like we don't
turn the ball over, we win by 10, we turn the ball over and we
can't make a free throw. So that's two things that can
kill you in the basketball game. Here's fears on those turnovers.
Yeah, that's that's definitely, that was definitely a key factor
for this game. We're going to continue to go
back to the gym and watch family.
We don't get better. And what I liked about, I guess
(03:45):
not 7 turnovers, 14 total between those two players, but
with fears he was talking about specifically Jim, and I don't
know if it impressed you. He knew what went wrong.
He knew why some of those turnovers took place.
And it might have been a question that you even asked
here as well. Here's his answer.
No, like sometimes I I beat my man and then I try to make an
unnecessary move or a weak move and then he just play good
(04:08):
defense and, and got me to turn the ball over every single time.
So like it was like, so second-half I kind of understood
it. Oh, and actually what kind of
what kind of guy you're going? One of the guys was talking
trash and he was like, he didn'teven get in the game.
And that's when he was like, youtrash.
You're not even good at basketball.
So I think that got me good. All right.
(04:30):
So that gives you an idea, I guess, of what those two thought
about it. But 14 turnovers between those
two, never liked that. But what do you think about
their responses about those turnovers?
Yeah, I mean, I think when they look at the video and they see
some of the things that they didwrong, they'll be able to clean
a lot of that stuff up. I thought Fierce had some
uncharacteristic plays where he was kind of just lost the ball.
(04:52):
I love his ball handling, but I mean, for example, there was a
play in the backcourt where he was near the left sideline.
He just kind of lost his footingand tried to regain the ball and
it was taken away from him. I think there were a couple
plays like that, but I think there were also a couple plays
for both of them where you couldsee they're still trying to
figure out their teammates. Fears had a really nice pass
along the baseline. I think it was to intended for
(05:14):
PV and PV didn't, didn't take a step forward.
The ball kind of went out of bounds.
Sure, people remember this play. And to me, it's just one of
those things where it was like, I think if as you get more time
to play with certain players, you know, OK, I got a cut here,
I got to be in this spot. And it's just there's some
different misconnections, I guess would be kind of how I
would put it. There was a play.
(05:34):
That, I believe, was. A turnover that was attributed
to Queen where? The ball was passed ahead.
To him in the right corner and he had to just kind of throw
back over his shoulder because he was going out of bounds.
It it just seems like there's some plays like that that they
could they could definitely fix in the next game and and just
getting used to the the kind of defenders athleticism and length
that you have to go against I think is an adjustment as well.
(05:56):
I mean both of those players, but the Pelicans in general had
a bunch of of. Shots blocked especially.
In the paint. So just different things that
they need to, to figure out and, and, and maybe change some of
the way that they approach things given the, the difference
in the type of player competition you're going against
in the NBA compared to college. You and television silent
(06:17):
reporter Andrew Lopez sat down after the game and kind of
freshen your minds, went over some of the things.
We'll get to that in about 30 seconds here.
But I do want to play one final thing because you mentioned PV
and he finished 11.7 rebounds, 2steals.
Corey Brewer on him. PV plays hard man.
He he does all the little thingsand show tonight, you know he's
going to get steals, he's going to guard guys.
(06:37):
He made some open shots. So for him, it's just keep
getting better, keep developing. So yesterday afternoon was the
first time we got to see some new faces.
We have yet to see at least one new face that will be part of
the Pelicans and that came via atrade.
And Mr. Jordan Poulin, you you wrote a little something about
him that Pels fans can go over and check out on the website.
What did you learn in in kind ofwriting that story?
(07:01):
Yeah, and I really want to give Golden State's radio play by
play guy. His name is Tim Roy.
He's been there for quite some time.
I think people are familiar withhim from all the championships
that he's called over the years, but he was really the person
that deserves credit for this article.
He basically was me asking him questions about Jordan Poole
from The Four Seasons that he was with the Warriors and then
(07:23):
Tim kind of giving insight from knowing him from those seasons,
including 2022 when they won thechampionship.
So yeah, there's article on Jordan Poole on pelicans.com
today that people can check out.I thought real quick to.
It I think it's interesting. That it seems like from a
national perspective that peopleare barely even mentioning
(07:43):
Jordan Poole when they talk about the Pelicans offseason
outlook or the moves that they've made or gone forward.
I mean, this guy averaged 20 points a game last season, Gus,
And I think it's also worth pointing out too, this is this
might be more of a trivia thing or a, a stat in the weeds type
thing. But I, I looked it up and this
would have been the case if the Pelicans still had CJ McCollum.
(08:05):
But it's it's worth noting that there's only three teams in the
league. If you look at the current
rosters, there's only two teams in the league that had three
players who averaged 20 points per game last season.
And those two teams are the Pelicans and the Lakers with
Jordan Poole averaged over 20 with Washington, Zion and Trey
Murphy. They had 20 + 4 New Orleans last
season. So just a little anecdote to
(08:26):
just kind of point out that how much of A offensive force that
Jordan Poole can be. All right, we'll hear your
conversation with Andrew Lopez following the game yesterday
here in a quick second. Plus, I'll ask you about what
you want to see Saturday in the second game of summer league
play against the Lakers. But I had a chance to catch a
photograph, and I ran into him earlier today, and I asked him
(08:47):
what he thought about watching the game.
Here's what he had to say yesterday on the course the Pels
took to the floor. Got to see the draft picks.
Got to see Eve me. See your all thoughts in the
game man. I thought it was a typical
summer league game. You know, it was sloppy at
times. And then as both teams really
got into the flow of the game, it it settled down.
But I mean, you could tell all the the turnovers at the
(09:09):
Pelican, actually, both teams turned it over a boatload of
times. There were so many fouls called.
Gus. That's why it's a tough watch
sometimes in the summer because you don't have the regular NBA
refs and these guys can get a little bit whistle happy.
I mean, the Pelicans were were called for 30 fouls last night
and that's in 40 minutes. So it's it's just difficult to
(09:30):
get into the rhythm of the game when there's so many stoppages
in play. But you know, other than that, I
I just thought on the Pelican side, you just saw a bunch of
kids that were playing together for the first time.
And, and again, as I mentioned, as the game went along it, they
just seem to settle down and youknow, they're putting a lot of
pressure on themselves, especially the draft picks.
(09:53):
Jeremiah fears Derek Queen. They want to impress their
coaches. They want to impress their
teammates. And I think both of those guys
tried to do a little bit too much.
And I mean, you heard Corey Brewer after the game gust talk
about how he got on queen a little bit, say, Hey, you got to
be yourself. And after that he looked like a
(10:15):
a player that is going to be able to contribute.
I mean, I think self admittedly,he said he didn't play a really
good game until the second-half and and he ended up with a
double double. I mean, I'll take that if he's
not going to play as well as he can play.
So, you know, Eve me see, definitely looked a little bit
(10:36):
bulkier and that's good. He's got to improve on his free
throw shooting. We all know that, you know that
that really hurt the team yesterday.
I mean, they were 15 for 24, I believe, and and lost by 8:00.
But you cannot turn it over as many times as they did 28 points
off turnovers and expect to win.But again, it's a learning
process. The thing that I enjoyed though,
(10:58):
Gus, was the team played very, very hard and they're going to
do that for for Corey Brewer andand the staff.
So that's good. And I, I guarantee Gus, they're
going to play much better against the Lakers tonight than
they did in a technical sense against the Timberwolves.
Yeah, no doubt you have to be impressed by the way Derrick
Queen responded in that second-half.
(11:19):
And at the end of the day, Todd,I I don't know about you.
I did you notice that the Mavs Lakers game was game seven of
the NBA Finals with all the build up between Flag and
Brownie? James, did you notice?
That I tell you what, Gus, they should have handed out straight
jackets last night at the Thomasand Mack Center because anybody
who paid $300, anybody who paid $300 to get into a summer league
(11:42):
game should be put in an institution.
How many points? Cooper, Flag head.
I didn't watch the game, Gus. I Yeah.
Do you know what Derrick Queen had?
13 and how many rebounds? 1010 That's a double.
Double. Did Cooper Flag have a double?
Double no, he did. He did not.
So I I just had to. Say, by the way, Gus, how about
(12:03):
Derrick Queen stepping out and hitting that left to the top
three at the end of the ball game?
All right, man. Well, enjoy the game and can you
go find Jim? I can offer.
He's missed his his call over here.
We don't know where he's at. He's probably still on this
trip. I don't think he slept last
night. Just.
Like, he probably didn't. As a matter of fact, when I
wandered in last night, I mean he was, he was at the craps
(12:25):
table and he was just, you know, fist pumping.
So I didn't even, I did not evenbother him.
I just kept. Going to my room, I knew there
was a reason, the name tag in his cubicle says Papa Giorgio so
all. Right.
Thanks. Guys, all right, thanks to Graf
there, and he's looking forward to seeing what takes place
against the Lakers on Saturday. As for the little more insurance
(12:46):
and outs to what took place in game #1 here is Jim Eichenhofer
with Pelicans television silent reporter Andrew Lopez.
It is time for the Pelicans podcast postgame show.
I'm here with Andrew Lopez. You know him well from the Gulf
Coast Sports and Entertainment Network.
He's the TV sideline. Reporter.
Andrew we just watched the Summer Pelicans lose to the
(13:08):
Timberwolves 98 to 91, but I think we saw.
Some really good encouraging moments from the 2.
Lottery picks as well as second round pick Mike Peevey.
I guess we could. Maybe we could start with Derek
Queen. He had quite an eventful
afternoon. You know, I was struggling at
the beginning but I think reallyin the second-half showed a lot
of his ability and his potential.
What did you think of how he played today?
(13:29):
He was, I mean, he was sitting there at at one point early in
the third quarter where he was overwhelming the field at six
turnovers and did not look like he was very much in the game.
It seems like he was kind of letting a lot of stuff bother
him, Corey Brewer said. He held, he pulled him aside at
halftime, talked to him and thenagain, somebody talked to him in
(13:50):
third quarter. I I specifically remember Jody
Meeks kind of put his arm aroundhim.
Hey, you know, got to answer this a little bit.
And then when he went back out there after that, he was able to
get a bucket and I thought that was the one that get him going.
But as, as we heard him say, that was not the one that got
him going because he turned it over immediately after that.
It was the second bucket that hehit in that third quarter that
(14:13):
really kind of started to help him kind of find his groove a
little bit. And are we talking about, man,
this was this was this. He could have did this.
He hit a double double like he still had 13 and 10.
And obviously I think he wants to play a little bit better.
He's like a double double this, a double double.
But I, I, I liked what I saw from him in the last quarter and
a half of work because look, at the end of the day, yes, you
(14:37):
want to win these games, but it's still summer league.
He could have very much kind of like punted this game and, and,
and not cared. The fact that he cared and tried
everything in his power to kind of fix this and put on a good
performance and that kind of shows you a little bit of what
he's made of. Jeremiah fears, I mean, with
both Derek Queen and Jeremiah fears, the turnovers was a was a
issue in in terms of just too many of them.
(14:58):
Overall. You could kind of see them both
kind of adjusting though I thinkas the game went along.
What were your impressions of Jeremiah's game today?
Yeah, 7 turnovers for both guys,I think 25 as a team.
That was one of the things CoreyBrewer said was just something
we we, we, we can't have. And but you could see that we
sat on that 232425 for a while in the fourth quarter when you
were trying to kind of get back in things.
(15:19):
I think a lot of those guys kindof are adjusting to the game.
Again, fears, fears adjusting tothe speed of the game.
And I think there's going to be a lot of guys who have to adjust
to his speed down the line because he's the guy who is is
going to show everything that hecan do on that side.
He has a blur with the ball. We see his handles, love
everything that he brings to thegame.
(15:40):
We were talking about it during the game.
There were a couple of moves once he gets into the paint that
he does and kind of fades away and kind of gets on the rim.
We see a lot of what he can do in terms of, you know, being
able to make plays not just for himself also as a team.
I'd like to see the assists go up.
And I think some of that kind ofgoes with all these guys kind of
playing together. We're trying to figure some
(16:02):
things out but absolutely love what Jeremiah did.
For both Fears and Queen, I mean, obviously this is the
first chance we've seen them against another NBA team, quote
UN quote. How much of it do you think, and
this is something I think Jeremiah mentioned too, was just
adjusting to the difference between the competition that you
go against the defense in college versus what you see
here? I think there were a lot of
(16:22):
plays for both of those guys where we saw all of them maybe
try some moves that probably work for them for 36 games last
year and don't work on this level.
Queen, I mean, fears mentioned, you know, it's you're playing
against guys who are a little bit bigger, you're playing
against guys who are a little bit faster.
And he's like, there's a guy here now there's a guy like
those are adjustments I think we're making.
(16:43):
I think it also didn't help thatwe were the first game of summer
league in terms of you, you're the 12:00 game.
There's a little bit different. You're waking up, you're not,
you're playing at a time that you're not used to.
I am way more looking forward tonow the, the game on Saturday
against the Lakers, because I think both of these guys have
adjusted fairly well to this we saw in the second-half.
(17:06):
And I I'm I cannot wait to see what adjustments they make
further going on this Saturday. I mean, there were some other
bright spots from this game as well.
Lester Quinones, I mean, to me, he was a big reason why it
seemed like there was a bunch oftimes where you you're sitting
there thinking this game is probably over.
He'd make a couple 3 pointers and the Timberwolves would call
it time out. I mean, what did you think of
(17:27):
the way he played today? No, he was great 20 plus all.
I mean, he he was, he was the way the reason it was such a
close game in the fourth quarter.
So the fact that he's there and doing what he was doing, it's
it's this, it's what we saw the end of the year last year.
And there's a reason why he's onhis two way contract and did
not, you know, there's a lot of roster turnover.
(17:50):
He's one of the guys who's kind of, you know, stayed through it
and you saw him as he was playing there.
Why he's it's it's still the case.
So the fact that he was able to kind of go out there make a lot
of plays and kind of show why hekind of deserves a spot in the
NBA. But you know, he he played, I
think it was it was queen who kind of joked that the vets and
he goes, he called them basically summer league vets.
(18:12):
He goes, it's a little differentthan he goes.
They're still rooks. They're still second year guys,
but they've been here and and Lester played with that kind of
boys that you're expecting a vetto play with.
Speaking of a summer league vet,Eve Misi obviously played here
last year was really aggressive.I thought, I mean, came out and
offensively it seemed like he tried to do some different stuff
(18:33):
that was maybe a little bit beyond the scope of what he we
saw him doing during his rookie year.
But overall, I mean, I I thoughtit was funny too that Corey
Brewer joked about like he he basically said, I love how he
got to the rim. He.
Didn't necessarily finish some of the.
Plays and it it felt like maybe some of this was a spacing that
Timberwells had two or three guys in the paint constantly it
(18:53):
seemed like, which I think was afactor in their blocked shots.
But overall, I mean, I thought Eve had had some good moments.
Yeah, it's it's tough when you're trying to show a lot of
the things against a guy who wasconsidered one of the top 2 or
maybe the top shot blocker in the draft this year in yon
Barringer. So but you want to see that
you're going to go against thosekind of guys every night in the
NBA. So the fact that he showed off
(19:15):
the the cross, he showed off thethe head like he he was doing
moves and getting to the rim andyou're like, yeah, OK, this is
what you've been working on. You want to see this.
We've already talked to him about the weight that he has put
on and how different his body looks, how big are his
shoulders. Look, the next part is, is all
these next steps and he's continuing to learn this game.
(19:36):
We've talked about that, we've seen that and the fact that he's
able to kind of do these moves now I think kind of shows the
the growth would be even again, it's another one.
I'm I'm very much looking forward to what he's going to be
able to do on Saturday. A.
Couple of the players I wanted to touch on before we go.
I thought Michael Beebe was really solid.
I thought especially in the second-half, Antonio Reeves was
also a factor. What did you take away from
(19:59):
those two guys today? Yeah, Reeves is one of those
guys who I, I love his shot selection at times because it's,
it's one of those things where we've we've talked about it
before where there's there's been moments where his, if his 3
is not falling, he's finding other ways to, he's getting to
the rim or he was shooting his mid range.
(20:19):
And we saw a little bit of both of that today.
So the fact that he was also able to kind of get his things
going, I'm going back to a CoreyBruce, if you don't turn them
all over 24 times, like we're talking about all these guys who
did these great things, you don't turn the ball over 25
times, you don't miss 11 free throws.
We're talking about a a double digit pills victory right now
instead of this. And it's just all these little
(20:41):
things that still are going to have to come together throughout
summer league and hopefully, youknow, you'll start to see some
things start to change in the next game, but these guys are
going to start figuring each other out and get better at it.
From in terms of Mica Peavey, did you kind of see what you
expected from him in terms of just just a solid guy who plays
good defense and he kind of was opportunistic, nothing really
highlight on offense, but just made a bunch of plays.
(21:03):
I, I actually, he showed me where I think more on offense
than than what I thought. And, and, and that was the
consistent thing. That was the thing that you
wanted to see because for him, the big thing has is going to be
like, you know, he was a guy whoshot not 40% from three last
year, but made more threes in his fifth season.
What George found that he did inThe Four Seasons combined with
Texas Tech and TCU, could he continue that?
(21:25):
And we saw the shoot, the shooting today did not look out
of place. He did have one taken away
because he had his foot on the line.
But I, I, I expected that on thedefensive end and it was a
couple of times he late in the game, What about 2 1/2, three
minutes, like he turns his ankle.
This is summer league. He could have very easily.
Hey, that's it. In fact, Terence, we talked
(21:46):
about it when we were in the game, Terence Shannon, the the
guard from Minnesota, like triedto wave off, like tried to like
he helped him up and then tried to like wave an official over.
So like, hey, like he's got to get out.
And there was a time out right after that.
He came back in the game and he kept playing.
He told the guy said, no, I'm all right, I'm all right.
And then kind of made some effect on the play that he hurt
(22:07):
his ankle, he's hobbling around and gets a steal and then is the
time out. So the fact that he was able to
kind of fight through that, that's what I wanted to see from
him, is we knew he was going to bring the defensive end, but I
was very impressed what I saw from him offensively.
You mentioned after what we saw today, I would think that
Pelicans fans would feel this way as well, that now we're
(22:27):
looking forward to the second game to see some of the progress
and to see just, I mean, severalof these players look after they
got their first experience and how valuable that's going to be,
how much that's going to help them on Saturday against the
Lakers. If you could boil it down to a
couple things or a thing or two of what you want to see them
accomplish Saturday, what do youwant to do?
What would it be? Less than 25 turnovers and less
(22:49):
than 11 misses from the free throw line.
I'm going to start there becauseagain, you would have had AW
today if you did those two things.
But aside from that, I don't want to.
I want to see a little bit, I want to see those assist numbers
go. I mentioned that earlier, you,
you want to see a little bit more cookie siveness on the
offensive end. Derek Queen mentioned this to
us. He's like we, you know, you had
the 4th of July weekend, guys were coming in, had the dress.
(23:11):
You, you didn't get much in terms of real practice.
We have a practice day on Friday.
We get that in and then you're going to go out and Will Gillery
just joined us in the middle of our podcast.
He may or may not be standing right next to us right now, but
if you can, you obviously you clean up the mistakes, but if
(23:32):
you can get something going, going on the offensive end more
cohesive, obviously you had a lot of guys in double figures,
but if you didn't get that going.
I think you're alright. I know you've done some
basketball coaching in the past.I find you to be a very, what's
the word, a very accepting coachbecause I think your goal of
less than 25 turnovers and less than 11 missed shots is a very
(23:53):
achievable thing. So I like the way that you've
set your standards at A at a area that they can definitely
attend. I I hope those are achievable
goals because. You.
You. You, even if it's even 20
turnovers and eight mystery throws today, you're probably in
a position where you win this game.
So you like, that's why I think you like what you did
offensively. You like what you did
defensively. You just got to clean up the
mistakes. That was Andrew Lopez on the
(24:14):
Pelicans podcast postgame. Show, I believe the.
First one we've had ever in the history of the podcast.
Back to you, Gus. Look, Game 2 with the Lakers, I
don't know if you knew this, butthe ESPN built up that Mavs
Lakers game like it was game seven of the NBA Finals.
And I get it, man, it's summer league.
It's the number one pick overall.
But I do want to say this. How many points did Cooper flag
(24:37):
have in Game 1? He had 10, did not score in the
second-half. And by no means this isn't about
Cooper flag. My point being though, is you
hear Derrick Queen, you hear some of the comments about the
game yesterday, Corey Brewer. Hey, let's go turn it up.
It it it almost it seemed like they weren't very happy with it
(24:57):
in terms of hey, we can do better, we can be better.
The guy had a double double. He had a double double 13 and 10
in a quote UN quote, not up to my standards type game.
I love he had more points. Did Cooper fly?
But no one's talking about that. But anyway, so I I don't know is
that, is that where you start with what you want to see from
Game 2? Yeah, you know, kind of adding
to what Andrew talked about withme, you know, he mentioned the
(25:20):
turnovers. That's obvious.
The free throws also is obvious that they missed too many.
I mean, I think the last thing that I would add to that in
terms of what I want to see improvement in on Saturday
against the Lakers is just the offensive efficiency shooting
wise. Fears was 4 for 12 from the
field. Even me see was 5 for 14.
Derek Queen ended up 5 for 9:00,but he start, I forget what he
(25:42):
started at, but it was, you know, he missed his first few
shots. So he thought he didn't have a
bad final line. But I, I guess between those
three guys, they were 14 for 35 from the field.
So I just want to see just a just a higher shooting
percentage from them combined with the 98 points that they
gave up, I think, and the turnovers and the free throws.
If they can shoot better and just play a better, tighter
(26:05):
brand of offense, you know, maybe they'll have a better
chance to pick up a win and go one and one.
I just remember I am reading thethe press box rules right here
in front of me and it says no cheering in the press box.
So if Ronnie and the Lakers missa shot, and I know it's going to
be hard for you, it just, you know, you got to got to keep it
down over there, right? I, I, I think I can handle that
(26:28):
in summer league. No doubt, man, I hear you.
I think I can. I can come through for you on
that, Gus. Hey.
You know what was fun yesterday just watching game, just
watching the game, watching somebasketball man, and it was fun
just being able to have this. So looking forward to seeing you
back in person in studio next week here as well.
But have fun while you're there.Stay safe and remember you got
to have gas money, all right, Sodon't spend it all over there.
(26:50):
Have fun with you. Now I just.
Wanted to mention one thing too.You mentioned how ESPN treated
the Cooper flag versus Brownie game like game seven of NBA
Finals. You could argue that they
treated it they they treated it as more than game seven of the
NBA Finals. If you think about how much
criticism that ABC and ESPN got in terms of not, you know, not
having the finals logos on the cord and.
(27:11):
I guess maybe that. Was more of an NBA thing, but
you're right. I mean, there was a ton of hype
for that game. I.
Got to watch some of it in person and I got to watch some
of it on on TV. So dude, it's fine.
Probably didn't live to the hypein terms of the stats and the
and the plays. But hey, like you said, it's
early in summer league. Let's give everybody at least
until the second game of Summer League before we start pouncing
(27:33):
on people. About it and I think that's one
of the things to look at here. We hadn't even really got into
me see you and I know you and Andrew did as well, but it was
nice to see you know Eves again, just another night at the office
at double double, 13 points, 13 rebounds and I think the more
than more of these guys play together, you'll see it.
I just love the fact that when you talk to them and when Andrew
(27:54):
were asking questions, they knewit sounded like they knew what
they were, why things went well, why things didn't go well and
the adjustment to it. And look, I, I was talking to
graph a little bit about this dude, you got to go back to
March Madness the last time theyplayed a game.
You know, if you and I go ran tocourt right now, even with Will
Gillery, I don't know if those legs are going to hold up after
(28:15):
a third three-point attempt. You know, I mean, it's been a
while since we've run full court.
So I think those legs, the stamina and all that's going to
get a little bit better as we play.
Well, that's a good point. That's definitely something that
we totally lose sight of. I mean, they had draft workouts.
With teams, but that's not. Like playing five on five, and I
think a lot of these guys don't play 5 on five leading up to the
(28:36):
draft because you don't want to get hurt.
You you want to make sure that you're good to go when the draft
comes and that your stock hasn'tdropped because of some fluke or
freak injury. So yeah, no, you're right.
I I I think that is worth. Remembering.
