Let us know just how much you love the podcast
has always going to Apple Podcasts where you can subscribe,

with the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference final.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
Course.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Marty had so many great years as the Stars goalie,
he tells us, but his journey in hockey Jake Otten
Joby's saying at belfour stories, Marty's great. You're gonna enjoy
the interview coming up, plus sen The File and sixty
on Bung June Hose return to film, making his first
Simost Parasite Mickey seventeen. Plus we're talking to all time
favorite celebrations when it comes to scoring goals. Speaking of goals,
Oilers appear to be in complete control of Game one
(01:14):
of the Western Comms Final. They're up three to one
after forty look there, all the way to their ninth
win the last ten games.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
But JD.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Dallas scores five unanswered from five different players in the
third to when it's six to three. They scored three
times on three shots on the power play and the
third and Oiler's power excuse me, Oiler's penalty kill.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
There had been a liability got exposed. I could believe
these numbers.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Your throw out to me before the show started. There's
seventy percent right now in the PK. That's atrocious.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, it's in that range, and I'm sure Taal could
get the exact after tonight. But yeah, it has not
been good, and it hasn't been good early in series.
So like they seem to kind of shore themselves up
later in these rounds, but the first few games of
every series they've just been caught off on the penalty kill.
And you know, honestly, you look at those goals, you know,
(01:59):
the Mikael Granlin goal, which that was his patented look
away top shell shot over the glove with the screen,
which I have seen firsthand when he was with the Sharks,
and it's something that he's done and kind of trademarked
for himself. He does it so well and that's his
bread and butter. He puts that one in. But then
obviously coming into the third period, Miro hayeskin and with
(02:20):
just a shy he just gets it by the first layer.
There's traffic in front, marchments in front, and it just
has eyes to it, so you know, it's more of
a Edmonton just took their foot off the gas and
they took some bad penalties in the third period at
the wrong times. And man, this series, when one team
has momentum, it just feels like the other team can't
even take a breath or sucking dirty pond water and
(02:44):
it just switches on a dime. I mean, this team.
I the fact that Edmonton was so firmly in control,
like I was at the end of the two. At
the end of two, I almost turned it off and
and said this is it. Let's do the podcast now,
because I was like it's over, and I said, you
know what, let's wait they get a power play. I
want to see how this this period starts and boiled. Boy,
(03:04):
did they have their foot on the gas. And you know,
I think the biggest issue for Edmonton is, you know,
you look at the stats, sixty eight percent of teams
that win the first game of the play any playoff
series in the NHL wins the series. So the odds
in that game, it's such an important game, Game one,
you just want to start on the right foot, especially
(03:25):
at home. And I think Dallas did that, you know,
and they didn't even play their best hockey. They played
twenty good minutes and that seems like it's something that
typically Edmonton does. But kudos to Dallas, man what a game.
Way to wrestle it back and their depth woke up
Matt Tewshane scoring Tyler second, having two Sam Steele that
you know, makes that great move that leads to the
(03:45):
Tyler second second goal. I think it's that depth for
Dallas wakes up where they've kind of been nowhere to
be seen. It's going to be a tough series for Edmonton.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Edmonton's PK was at sixty two point two before tonight's game,
so it's even no.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Seventy you were being nice.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Seventies seventy Stars by the way when there's seventh consecutive
home game this postseason, that's a first since the France
they moved to Dallas in ninety three. They've also went
back to back series openers, which are losing eight consecutive
game one, So.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Clearly much more important now as far as putting pedal
in the metal.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
I want to get your thoughts, Jad, because I was
talking to a couple of guys in the office today
where we both work at a chill network and saying
the importance.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
Of hasting him.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Only the fourth game frame since missing the last thirty
two regular season games and first ten playoff games is
a left knee surgery.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
He scores a rister.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
From near the boards, just inside the blue line. How
important is Mira Hayskins this team?
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Oh the twisted wrist? I mean, yeah, look at what
Thomas Harley did in his absence, and now you're adding
another guy that's possibly even Yeah, he's more well rounded
and a better player than Thomas Harley. And I just
think every game he's going to get more comfortable. And
he looked, I mean there is some the way he
just stops the transition with his skating and creating turnovers
(04:59):
with his stick and defensively so sound, I mean, and
that third, that little five six minute stretch he must
have broke up about six to seven places to the
neurra lone just started the transition and started the rush
for the Dallas Stars. And he's just such an important piece.
He chips in offensively and it's crazy. We talked to
Billy Jaffe today in the network and they were talking
(05:21):
about going twelve and six versus eleven and seven, and
basically the reasoning why was Pete de bores, Like, we
know he can play twenty five minutes, but we're just
kind of thinking, well, what if this goes in the
triple overtime and he has to play forty five fifty minutes?
Is he capable of shouldering that load? And I went,
I'm sitting there going to be that good in that
(05:42):
effortless that they're like not even We're like, yeah, he
can play twenty five minutes, thirty minutes, like, but forty five,
we just got to make sure you can play forty five.
I'm like, are you kidding me? Because it's just like
that's like how that's just what he does and how
good he is and how I mean, the guy has
zero heartbeat, like it's just he does not break a
sweat out there and is skating faster than anybody. So yeah,
(06:02):
he's huge for this team and big bit. Like I said,
big big win for this team when they did not
play their best game.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
We mentioned Dallas and the power play last year.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
They went zero for fourteen in the power play, losing
the West Final in six games, and get two short
handed goals in the process. They also failed to convert
the man advantage only seven and a half minutes into
this game. They quickly turned that around in that third period,
first time ever, by the way in their franchis, they
scored five goals in the third.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Period in a playoff game. Stuart Skinner, you and I
agreed because you'd lost his starting job. Pickard came in
and got hurt.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Then Skinner came back stopped twenty two or twenty seven
in this game after closing out the Golden Knights with
consecutive shutouts. I don't want to say it's a must
win for Edmonton because we've proven them before. They can
go down to Old, win two games at home and
get this thing back. But goltending Wise, would you stick
with Stuart Skinner, where'd you go to Pickard?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Well, Pickard's not on that trip right now, and I
don't think you traveled with the team, But I you
can't right now. I just don't think. You know, it's
kind of what they did last year. You just have
to ride it out. I don't think this was on him.
You know, I've been hard on Skinner. He does not
much he could have done on any of these goals.
(07:08):
You know, even the last one, the Tyler second won
was like a backhand that seconds stick was by the
crossbar and it just hits off his stick, like there's
not You're just kind of in trouble. And the other
ones are perfect shots. I think he needs to be better.
He needs to make those saves that don't seem like
he should make him. You know, that's kind of the difference.
But uh, it just was an onslaught and I feel
(07:32):
like they all fell asleep. I mean, the biggest issue
we saw is I tweeted out, and if we clip
this and they show my tweet, I tweeted out, like
in the second period, I was like, screw it Edmondonas
don't need matiast home, they're winning the Cup. And then six' three.
Later and the biggest thing THAT i saw tonight with
their penalty kill and looking for their penalty. Kills they
(07:53):
Need matiast come back if they want to win this,
series and not just this series but The cup because
he's such an integral piece on the penalty. Kill SO
i think it showed a lot. Tonight i'm, still you,
know bullish on this is probably gonna go seven AND
i can't see this going less than. THAT i Think
(08:13):
connor And leon had fantastic games. Tonight they just couldn't
close Out dallas and just too many. Penalties and when
you take too many, Penalties connor And lee and aren't
going to be on the. Ice they're going to be you,
Know connor gets a little bit of penalty kill at
the end with the last twenty, seconds but that's two
minutes where whether you score or, not those two guys
aren't on the, ice aren't impacting the.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Game Dry, settle by the way a goal and two
assists for The.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Oilers they were certainly, rested playing for the first time
since wrapping up their second round series a week earlier
In game five At. Vegas ten goals in five games
Against vegas in the last. Round five goals and one
perach allows a certainly leaky defense For edmonton last up
forty transition over The panthers And.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Knes we often focus on The, stars and for good, REASON.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Jd but we talk off about THE nhl playoffs are,
marathon not a spent over the course of two.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Months if there's a story we're seeing right now with.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
The Florida panthers and The Dallas, stars team depth depth is.
Critical if you can get balanced, scoring you're gonna be
able to win The Stanley.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Cup, yeah all, time and you even go extend that To.
Edmonton Like, edmonton this is their first. Game their depth
didn't show up this. Playoffs you, know their depth has
been probably they've they've gotten to this point without having
A Connor, leon you, know one of their trademark, games
and tonight was one of those games where they, had you,
know in the first two periods it Was Trademark leon
(09:29):
And connor just dominating all over the. Ice but the
depth is didn't show, up and the depth took bad,
penalties you, Know coolo getting To. Kaner you, know there's
just some guys that didn't take. Penalties so but, overall
also you, know the one trend to, follow And i'll
cap it with this is to your, point completely agree
with your. Depth and you, know one thing WHEN i
look at the stats to night that makes me a
little bit nervous is face. Offs and that's something that you,
(09:52):
Know edmonton needs the. Puck they like to build the.
Rush you, know face offs forty one to twenty five
in favor Of. Dallas you, know sixty two percent For.
Dallas that's a, big big motts ball hanging, there and
that trend needs to change if they want a chance
to kind of even the series, up because you can't
you can't not have the puck sixty two percent of
(10:13):
the time and expect to beat a team Like dallas
that can move the puck really. Well and you Got
Jake ottinger back.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
There dallas goes up one to Zero game two taking
Place Friday, Night oilers And stars.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
In BIG D ooh The big d.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Meantime in the other. Series The panthers Take game one In.
Raleigh they've now won five to the last six. Games
these playoffs are clearly locked. In they led four to
one before the game was even halfway. Over they cruise
to a five to two. Victory they've now won their
last three road playoff games by combined score of seventeen to,
four and in those three, GAMES jd thirteen different players
have scored those seventeen, goals with no one scoring more than. Two,
(10:49):
hurricanes the other, hand have now lost thirteen Straight Eastern
Conference final, games a streak that goes back to two
thousand and. Nine haven't won a conference final games since
they won The cup back in Six first of how
About floria and this balanced?
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Attack oh, man this team making us look stupid early,
here the old zig zag didn't work in my. Favor
the serpentine pattern bit me in the. Ass but, YEAH i,
LISTEN i think you, Know i'm gonna Give carolina little.
GRACE i, mean twenty shots From, florida that's all they,
(11:22):
had you, know throughout the. Game AND i think you
can't really Blame. FREDDIE i don't think he had a
particularly bad. GAME i think it just kind of exposed
a few, things, like you, know his lateral. MOVEMENT i
talked To Corey schneider last, night like his lateral movement
isn't the. Greatest so you, know that goal by aj
grew Where mikola goes Cross. CREASE i think that's not
(11:45):
one of his strong suits and Typically carolina watches. That
but the other two were you, know screenshots that were
just kind of perfectly, placed and you, know three to,
one it's it's a tough one Because carolina had. OPPORTUNITIES
i Think bob was just so good last. NIGHT i,
Mean bob's on another level right now once. Again and
and are we, Surprised, no not. Really but to your
(12:06):
point you said balance, ATTACK i mean a two lows To,
ryan and If i'm not, mistaken is leading the team in.
POINTS i don't think we ever had. That this kid
is emerging as a. Stud what a goal last night as. Well,
yeah thirteen points for This Florida panthers. Team and tal
can correct me If i'm, Wrong but they're getting it from.
Everywhere you, Know Nico mikola looking Like Bobby orr coming
(12:28):
up the, ice streaking. Down i'm, like who the hell
is this? Guy so, yeah that belief in that room
and the system they. Run they just do it to
perfection and everybody understands and knows their roles and it's
a scary. Team but, yeah that stat is glaring that
you said about The Carolina hurricanes they've lost their last
Thirteen Eastern Conference final. Games, that's you, know credit to
(12:49):
them for making it to The Eastern Conference, finals but
the fact that they keep getting curb stomped in every
single game they play and is wild because that you,
know twenty shots. Against but you, Know florida just slowly
implemented the. Game AND i think you, know you Heard
enzo and the guys in the, Call Kenny alberts talking
(13:09):
yesterday about, how you, Know carolina was overly, physical and
they are a physical. Team they can, be but they
look like they're running around and you just play right
into their game AND i feel like they can do
that for longer than any other team.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Can, yeah it's amazing too because there was one strets
Of panthers failed to get a shot on goal for
more than fifteen minutes spanning the second. Intermission this comes
forty eight hours after they Beat toronto on that road game,
Seven so you think maybe they're a little bit. Tired,
no they keep that momentum, going the emotion, going and
clearly were the more stronger, team even As Rod brindemore,
said when they got the two power play, GOALS i
think that's really the difference in the. Game you got
(13:43):
to kill Those you got to give them. Credit they
play a, heavy hard, game but they can. Score so
with that being, said From carolina's, Perspective, Okay florida does
what they, do what you expect to do in these
types of. Situations now it's a matter of like how
do you, Respond and clearly it's just that For Freddie,
anderson he's been a strength of this. Team but one
of the other contentious MOMENTS i would say Is Brad,
marsha who's been every when After Shane, gosters after The
(14:05):
hurricanes defenseman shot the pucket him almost half of the
Third marshann got a double minor.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
For ROUGHING jd and a game.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Misconduct he's now the playoff leader with forty six parliaments
gosapsp going a single minor for roughing on the.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Play what are your thoughts On marsha in that play, Specifically.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Well that was Just florida's game in a, nutshell you,
know BECAUSE i don't necessarily look to The marshan getting
kicked out because when you look at that, moment there
was probably like eleven minutes fifty four seconds left in the.
Game it's four to. One game's not over. Yet you,
Know carolina scored three goals in a period before this,
season so the game's not over and you're looking and
you're on the power. Play this is an opportunity right.
(14:42):
Here this is like your there's your chance right. There
they do not capitalize on, it and even adding more
in cult. INJURY i Thought Shane gosttersberg was probably one
of the best defensemen for The Carolina hurricanes last, night
but he makes an egregious mistake on the loster lining
goal that you know he. Is they got him so
fired Up Brad marshan with with him running him and you,
(15:05):
know he shoots the, puck WHICH i thought was pretty,
funny and you, KNOW i love the response By, Marsha
but you you Got marshan out of the game and
then you're immediately thinking and that just goes Where florida's
mindset is and how they kind of pull you out
of their. Game he goes and runs behind the, net
off his face, off with his stick in the, air
tries to bury no sick and then just allows a
(15:27):
pass right through his legs if he goes stick on,
puck then finishes like he typically does because he's not
an overly physical. Guy he's an offensive defenseman that has
gotten better on the defensive side of the. Puck so
he loses his. Mind he goes and runs all the
way Towards noshek No. Sek he makes the pass and
then it's a, goal and then there you, go it's
five to one games. Over so for, Me i'm like you,
(15:47):
think in that, Moment Gossip spirit got what he. Wanted
The Carolina hurricanes got what they. Wanted you, Know marshank
kind of lost his. Mind but instead of where you,
Know florida would lose it and kind of get out
of their game and out of their, structure they get
tighter within their structure Than carolina got outside of. Theirs
they didn't capitalize on a part opportunity that they should
have scored. On then if they just scored on, that
it's four to two with you, know just under ten.
(16:09):
Minutes it's a. Game it's a hockey. Game so they're right.
There they just made mental. Mistakes and that's more of
a credit To florida because they've done this time and
time again throughout these playoffs and throughout these past two
years of just like they body shot you they poke at,
you they kind of, like, hey come, on you, know come,
on mother, effort, like come, on come, on do, something, Dude,
(16:30):
well you're not gonna do. Something you're not gonna do.
Something then they lose their. Mind they go, okay, boob
go in the back of the. Net see you. Later
and they're one of those rare teams that when they,
score they get more. Aggressive so, yeah that was just
a crazy turning point in the game THAT i really
enjoyed just seeing and, watching and it kind of embodied
their game and their playoff run in a.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
Nutshell you are, correct by the, WAY a two leading
The panthers thirteen points in the, playoffs moresh and second with.
Twelve so what a. Pickup he's been there For Billy. Zedo,
now for much you've been calling Down sweet's performance this
season as The Boston bruns jo manager an absolute. Disaster
they enter a rebuild this summer with the seventh overall
pick in the trading their Captain Brad marsha at the
trade deadline along With Brandon carlo And Charlie. Coyle So
(17:09):
swingey signs a two year extension with The bruins On.
Tuesday he took the job in twenty.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
Fifteen the team.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Has had, success but what do you make of the
fact That bruins clearly had a down year and he
gets rewarded for.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
It, yes.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
That's what tight with ownership gets. You you're just walking
me into. This, hey. LISTEN i think at two year,
extensions nothing too crazy and too long in this. Business
so you, Know i'm all right with, it BUT i
think the leash will be very. Short AND i don't
know where they're going to go with, this but you,
know you look at What marshan has done since he's
went To, florida AND i, mean how can you even
(17:45):
think about not getting a better return than they got
for him and seeing what he's doing and he still
has gas left in the. Tank so you have to
Reward David. Pasternak you cannot allow a team that is
dog shit or dog. Watered and nothing against those, guys
it's just we talked about it last. Game just the
collection of guys doesn't. Work we talked about it With.
(18:06):
Toronto they need better players and there's. Nothing THERE'S nhl
players on the, team but they need better players if
they want to contend in That atlantic, division which is you,
KNOW i don't think he's going. Anywhere you, KNOW i
don't think That Atlantic division is going. Anywhere you Got,
ottawa you got you, know you Got detroit's, pushing you
got a lot of, teams so you got to stay up.
(18:26):
Top and as we've seen in these, playoffs like The,
METROPOLITAN i think is after game one looks a little
bit like a. Fugees SO i, think you, know If
I'm Don sweeney and the brain trust there In boston
and this ownership, group and they, said, listen this is
a tough. Division you made a, mistake but this is you,
know this is your last you, know your last, dance
(18:46):
last stand at The, alamo THE Ok, corral you Had.
Daisy if you do.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
It is true as you said to your extension is
not a major concession if you really.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Can't, yeah they said five if here's. That if they
said five, YEARS i would have lost my mind on this.
Thing but two, Years i'm going, Right i'll allow it
just for. Now but, yeah he was a disaster this,
year but hopefully he rebounds and you, know maybe this
is you, know this is like the equivalent of a
bridge deal for a young. Player but he's a guy
(19:16):
that's been around long enough that should not need a bridge.
Deal but this is. LISTEN i think it's a tidy
piece of. Work and where they're at right, NOW i
don't know if you. Can they're probably this is a
two year deal and they're actively looking for somebody right,
now and they'll just kind of see how he. Does
if he does, well he stays and if he, doesn't
you have a young guy that comes in and takes.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
Over, YEAH i only have to eat the one. Year you're,
right all? Right that's our thoughts when it comes to
swinging in The.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Bruins and so for what we've seen when we come,
back our special Guest Marty, turko Former stars, goalie what
he's seeing from His Dallas stars team so?
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Far can they pull off the option against The?
Speaker 1 (19:49):
Oilers plus his favorite memories and his thoughts On Jake
ogre that's coming up next year IN nhl, Unscripted our
next guest was a fifth round pick one hundred and
(20:09):
twenty fourth overall The Dallas stars the nineteen ninety FOUR nhl.
Draft you'd go on to win two hundred and seventy
five games The, Stars, blackhawks And bruins over ELEVEN nhl
seasons and remains The stars all time franchise leader in
wins and. Shutouts it's perfect timing to Welcome Marty turkle the.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Show.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Marty great to see, you.
Speaker 4 (20:25):
Man, yeah thank you for having.
Speaker 5 (20:27):
Me this is it's an exciting time of, year and
Now i'm super excited to be on with you.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
GUYS i was always a fan of yours as a,
goalie and obviously it's a perfect timing now The stars
taking on The. Oilers it's FUNNY jd And i've been
saying we called The kings to winning Six evanton.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Wins we Called vegas When edmondon.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Once we just can't root against the others, again we
look stupid twice and get on, PAPER i probably think
The star is the. Favorite what are your chances right?
NOW i think when it comes To dallas advance of
The cup.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Final, well first of, all thanks for lying and say
you've enjoyed watching me play when you were.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
Younger make me feel old like. USUAL i love doing.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
This he's all as, shit don't.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Worry, yeah, yeah, yeah WELL i. AM i Mean i'll
be the big Five ozero this. Summer so, Wait, jason
we know you know the this is, Real, Grace so
and also not a fake ten.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Either texas has been good to.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
Me Uh so this, series, HONESTLY i think it's gonna
be a good. One you, know we've got, core the
core groups are still. There but for us adding you.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Know miko to our core and what he's done.
Speaker 5 (21:28):
For us in his playoffs, already you know that that
right there can be the turning. Point but saying that
The oilers, HAVE i mean they're deepest they've ever. Been
that they're playing, great getting scoring from a lot of other,
players not just the usual, suspects you, know, goalies you,
know check, change skinners back in kind of looks splotted
like last. Year but, yeah i'd say if we are
(21:50):
statistically the, favorites but this is that time of, year
you never. Know Un, plus she's playing up In. Canada
Oiler nation is his rocking is on. Fire is fun
to watch them ON. Tv BUT i will say equally
or maybe, better our fans here In dallas or this
is this is smaller in hockey.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Town it's been going on for a long.
Speaker 5 (22:09):
Time you, Know we've we've had a good team last
couple of, years made The Western conference, final even The
Stanley Cup finals one.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Year so we've been knocking on the.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Door SO i kind of feel like this is our
year AND i really think we'll get our crack at
The Stanley cup next.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Round what's what's like the biggest difference or takeaway from
this playoff run compared to others for, you.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
You, know it's it's.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
INTERESTING i THINK i think just being having a dominant
player like we, go you, know beating his old, team
just kind of getting.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
That, yeah it's just it was.
Speaker 5 (22:43):
Weird it was just so, weird like you've just never
never seen anything like, it to be honest with. You
and so sometimes when you have a championship, team you
need that one thing to go your.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Way and That coloral series was not looking.
Speaker 5 (22:53):
Good you know that they they've luckily we got into
a game. Seven they shouldn't let that, happen and we,
did and you, know we Had mico magic right. There
and SO i think from that, end we're scoring a
lot of you, know we're Having we're not we don't
have scoring across the, Board SO i think we've got
a lot of guys more to. DO i think this
(23:14):
is as good As jake has played. EVER i, mean
he had an awesome series' rookie year Against, calgary you
know that aside because that was just. Insanity jake's looks, fantastic.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
You.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
Know and and and this year we instead of depleting
players like you do in the, playoffs which probably still will,
happen we added to you, know you, Know robertson came.
Back and then Obviously, miro who, started you, know the
first game wasn't, great just feeling it, out but in
the last couple he's really looked like, himself and to be,
honest he's he's also you, know McDavid's, uh you, know
(23:49):
kryptonite for us when we. Play he plays them as
good as Anybody i've. Seen so we like our. Chances
but it's gonna be some, fun fast hockey in The
west and probably pretty physical as.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
Well.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
Well Jake ottre has been incredible this.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Postseason marty has just, said how but some team records
In dallas falling if he keeps us.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
UP i, MEAN i, hope, SO i mean that means
The Dallas stars are. Winning our guy's. Healthy we want
him to be the grace of all. Time he's on
his way. Anyway we want him to go get a
cup and we want him to get. TWO i Have
the first GAME i played in THE, NHL i was
twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
OLD i was a starter twenty. Seven he's not even.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
THAT i ain't got started, yet and he's getting close
to breaking records and doing all that. Stuff so he's
got a ways to. Go BUT i mean he's.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
Good he's.
Speaker 5 (24:37):
Healthy in this new day and age where you're only
playing five fifties low sixties games a, year he's had
some great playoff, runs so take them all. Down that
doesn't bother me if they put my name up there
on a you, know on a local news.
Speaker 4 (24:52):
Channel you, know every once in a, while it's it's.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
Good it's good for. Me you, Know i'm getting, old
so it's good to be remembered once in a.
Speaker 2 (24:59):
While good.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Business what you, know what for you as a as
a goalie WATCHING i don't know how much you've routinized,
goalies but like when you're watching him and seeing their,
techniques what do you see that Sets Jake ottinger apart
from the other goalies in the.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
LEAGUE i, think you, know it's just his, demeanor his,
size his ability to move and scate is. GREAT i
honestly think he's got the best blocker in the, league
which sounds really, weird. Right you always say, like, oh
he's got the best glove where you can play the
puck the. Best it's his best side to, side BUT
(25:34):
i mean his blocker son can he hasn't missed the
middle of. It and there's the rebounds going the right,
spots AND i think he must BE i don't, know,
right right eye dominant or.
Speaker 4 (25:43):
Something he's, like something's different for this. Guy but he's.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
Tall he doesn't play necessarily big like some guy's his,
size but he's just what what? What what really separates,
him in my, opinion is that he just loses his
confidence and that just bleeds into our, bench into our locker,
room into our whole.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
Organization our fans feel it and know.
Speaker 5 (26:04):
It and you know he hasn't been perfect by any,
means but you just know he's gonna bring. It he's
gonna give you a chance to. Win and you, know
when you do that way more often than, not you
just you can't find. It find those. Guys and so
we got a good. One and he's, young and he's he's,
tall and he's good. Looking he's got a good golf.
SWING i hate the, guy, really but he's, awesome, MAN
(26:28):
i LOVE i love the kids'll pumped to watch him.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Tonight, well speaking to a guy who had a lot
of good things going from as well with ed. Belfour
you came to the, League marty in two thousands of
backup to. Belfour tell us your favorite.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Story But eddie The eagle.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
You probably on the. SPOT i Know demire has want
some really juicy. Ones but uh know WHEN i got, here,
YEAH i mean ninety ninety, eight my first.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
Camp you had him And turk And Manny, Fernandez Mike
bales was. Here even Even Darryl, ray our color. Commentator
he got more ice time THAN i did for crying out.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Loud he was he was allowed to. Play But, Eddie
eddie was good. Man why they liked.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
Him he was a. Gamer he barely. Practiced they but
when the lights were, on you, know he usually was.
On AND i got to watch him Mowdown Grant fear one, Year,
Tomink Patrick waughd And Dominic hastrick on his way to
win The. Cup and if you're gonna do, it you're
gonna beat some of the best of all time and
be one of the.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Best now you, Know hall Of fame already he was.
Good but you know he was he. Was he was
good to. Me, see not much of a, talker but
he was good to me in the first couple of.
Speaker 5 (27:32):
Years and then, uh last year when the kind of
running was in the, wall things were going.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
Great you, know he never really.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
He didn't talk to me that. Much maybe never, Actually
SO i was, like all, right you, KNOW i get.
It you always want to you always want to be
the guy to keep your mat you, know just see
the older.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Guys it's just the way they. Were But i'll say
this also about ed he you, know you, see every.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
Once in a while the guys lose their, blades, right
and and back in the, day we had cowlings in
our skates and we'd sharpened him, too three four times a.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Week and would wear down towards the.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
Plastic, well in order to get a new, steel you
really need a new, skate AND i like my, skates
SO i had to get you, know put a whole
new cowling on my my. Skate, Well eddie's the one
that first invented steel that you could take out of your.
Cowling AND i was playing with, him yeah, right and
so you KNOW i had.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
A screw on. It it was.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Interesting it was funky, looking but he got the patent for.
It he sold up TO ccm later. On and so this,
guy you knows nuts since.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
He was and just a flare of a. Goalie he
he was the innovator as.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
Well his equipment was totally different and things were put
in there and taken out and.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
Changed but, YEAH i thought it was really.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Interesting and And sudsey or our equipment, guy one, Day i'm, like,
man IT'S i hain't changing the. Steel i'm so. SORRY
i gotta do this all the. Time he, said, Hey
ed's got this new. Stuff show go ask. Him SO
i went asked him one day practice and he looks at.
ME i was Wearing bauer at the. Time he, goes
maybe try A. Ccm they got more steel or something like,
that and skated. AWAY i was, like come, on.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
Yeah just let me use your.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
Steal but every TIME i see it, now and you,
know the goalies kind of a boot looking, deal but
they can pop their steal in and out as. Well but,
Yeah ed he had the first. Prototype he worked with
Mister cooper back in the day And John brown and
many other guys that you, know titans in our industry
to really make a, difference.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
And as school equipment is, today even, skates and he
had a lot to do with.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
It, yeah WELL i, wouldn't you, know going as innovators.
Go you, know he could have been an innovator in the,
skate but you're an innovator and moving the puck and
the turco turn and all sorts of. Things is? There you,
know when did you develop? That and was it just
something you were having fun out? There was it truly
something that when you were kind of coming up you
looked at from your own player's perspective and be, LIKE
(29:54):
i think this could be done.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
Better, well OBVIOUSLY i like to play the, park you,
KNOW i like to play hockey more than.
Speaker 4 (30:01):
Anything WHEN i was a kid and you started Full.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
I'm ten as a goalie and it really wasn't a
good puck playing goaltender BECAUSE i was so.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
SMALL i was. TINY i was strong.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
Enough the sticks were horrible back, then you, know the
gloves were, heavy the stick was AND i just you,
KNOW i remember the first DAY i had raised the
puck and then do it, consistently and you KNOW i was.
Older so WHEN i went To, MICHIGAN i tried to
play the pluck a.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Lot it was by no.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Design we had some, success a lot of. Failures coach encouraged,
it at Least Red bearentson.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Did but it's just.
Speaker 5 (30:33):
Happened one, day you, KNOW i was twenty some years
old and we were getting pucks and you know the
drills WITH D, man you, know they brim it around
and you stop it for YOU D man and you
move it a little bit and just in with no four.
Chuckers and SO i was on my back end and
as you can imagine with a, glove you, know with
a thirteen degrees live, stick and you're like this and the,
glove you, know it's like a little taco just sitting in.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
There you got no real. Leverage AND I i and
then it's on the backhand. Tot we just got no.
Leverage and so what happened WAS i was getting.
Speaker 5 (31:02):
MAD i lost tupucks and had to go chase them
and was killing the drill And boie coaches yelling at,
me and SO i just turned my hand over AND
i just went like this and just shoved it right
into the boards to make. Sure i'm, Like i'm stopping this.
One and the first time ever did. It there's no fort.
CHECKERS i turned my handbag over and played it. Normally
and then the next time we introduced fur, checkers AND
(31:23):
i did, it and the fort checkers on me AND
i had to move it quick and with my hand
still over. Top and THEN i was, like, dang light.
Bulb i'm like this was this. Worked that felt really.
Good and SO i went from a you, know deadlocked
glove arm to an athletic. Position and, ANYWAY i also,
had you, know had a. BACKHAND i could whip it
up on the, glass and my dispersion rate you, know
(31:45):
went from like whatever forty degrees to like ninety. Five
it just became more, nimble more, athletic and that just
changed the. Game and you, know we would tell our
fourd and, say you, know this gool is not very,
good And patrick was one of. Them ninety nine out
of one hundred are going to the same, side and
so we would overload and get the puck back or
(32:06):
at least give ourselves better. Chances as soon AS i
HAD i had a back end AND i could turn,
around uh and sauce it with like pretty good.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
Accuracy that was the biggest change right.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
There so the grip was important and every goalie in
the world now does. IT a few boul of guards
we're hanging on and couldn't do. It but every TIME
i went to watch You dallas with THE u Eighteen,
championships watch The World, juniors they all do. It and
whenever they make a good pass or you, Know i'll let,
PASS i just say you're, welcome you, know.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
At.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Home let a little parental, pride you.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Know So i'm just, saying no, Question. Marty you were
at The university Of michigan nineteen ninety.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Six your team At mike leg made one most incredible
highlights in recent hockey. History scored the infamous the crossed
Out michigan, goal The Michigan what do you remember about that?
Speaker 4 (32:55):
Moment, well we called it The. Legger it Was Mike.
Legg you.
Speaker 5 (32:59):
Know mike went on to Win SP's for. That, Mike
mike could see he's famous for these. Days but you
know what people don't realize, is first of, All mike
gave credit after the. Game he a guy In, London,
ontario showed him how to do. It he did it
in the miners, actually So mike wasn't the. First but
what happened in that game we were At Michigan State,
arena playing against the arch rival In Minnesota, gophers is
(33:22):
a quarterfinal game of AN ncaa, tournament and we were
getting our butts handed to, us and we're getting ot
shot like fifteen to three or four. Winning we're losing
two to, one and he scored that goal with the
tie it, up and that just changed. Everything there was
no real. Replay we knew what. Happened they knew what.
Happened the fans really didn't know what. Happened it happened so,
fast and we went on to win not just that,
(33:44):
game but our first championship in thirty some years for
The michigan hockey. Program and it was that one right.
There so he was the hero Of billy, mccult my,
roommate he was.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
THE mvp of that.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
Thing we could argued it could have been it could
have Been, mike But i'll never forget.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
It we got home in an, arbor it was.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
A sunday night and there's this beautiful silver thing on
our porch and it was a keg Of killians red.
Beer nice down for some you, know we know who did.
It these guys at the corner store had it, there
and you.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
Know then that was like a probably a ninety dollars.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Cake and we were drinking Bush light And Natty, light
and every once in a while if we.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Had extra ten bucks we Get Coors. Light but the
only person we.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
Called over who wasn't living there Was Mike, legg, like,
hey you deserve a fresh Cold killian's red.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
Beer we were in. Heaven so that was it.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
WAS i, mean he did he did it ten years
ago or nine years ago At Yost Brendan morrison AND.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
I morrison AND i.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
Were on a, shootout you, know just we're there celebrating
the championship twenty year, anniversary and he picked it up
and scooped it and scored it from from almost the
other end into the you, know six inch water. Deal
this guy's we put them on our. Shoulders you got
A Hobie baker guy, here you got the. Goalie, no
Who's Mike legs on our? Shoulder and they showed that
(35:05):
thing again the next day at The Big house when
we went to a football.
Speaker 4 (35:08):
Game it was he's gotten so much, attention but as.
Speaker 5 (35:11):
Deserved in THE espn did a great documentary before last
year's playoffs kind of all about. It But mike's a great,
dude dear, friend and it, was it, was it. Was
it was a big part of our program's, history more
than just a you, know famous goal along the.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Way what Was red's reaction at the? Moment you, KNOW.
Speaker 5 (35:29):
I actually Think red told him to do it before the. Game,
now this, guy as the lawyer, GOES i wasn't. THERE
i wasn't. There someone, said, hey Because mike would do
it every, day all. Day he'd do, it if not
fifty hundred, times he was so good at.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
It Bad, ice you, know goes and.
Speaker 5 (35:46):
And after warm up someone said he Heard read tell,
him he said you should try that in the game one.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Time probably said. That she initially just, like get off
the icy.
Speaker 5 (35:54):
Bomb BUT i don't that's you, KNOW i haven't Heard
red deny that.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Part so, uh you, Know Red red is a great.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
Coach obviously he's old school traditional playing the seventy Two Summit.
Series but he also was the first guy to wear
a helmet in THE, nhl and you, know got HIS
nba within four, years you, know After michigan and winning
championships while he's playing in THE nhl From montreal and
Then Saint.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Louis so you know things like. That they're.
Speaker 5 (36:20):
Innovative he's a great. Coach he you, know he'd liked
things a certain. Way BUT i don't he wasn't. MAD
i think he just. COULD i could see him under his.
Breath he probably Said Jesus, christ you, know something like.
That and if you know him is a great. Dude
he's still.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
Skating that.
Speaker 5 (36:37):
Guy he's probably eighty six years, old going bar down with.
Backhand he's a. Legend so one legend to. Another mike
leg And Red bearrison right.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
THERE i love. It tell me a little bit before you,
know we wrap up, here BECAUSE i know you've got
a ton of stuff to, do just your work you've
done with The Dallas, chart The Dallas Stars, foundation and
how you've kind of just improved that and and and
all the amazing things you have going on in the
community In.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Dallas, well you know what this city's, Like.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
Jason it's an amazing place for almost everything in business
especially you, know this is like The texas alone is
the eighth LARGEST gdp on the globe In North texas
is a big part of. That and The Dallas stars
being the only hockey team not just In texas but
in any contigious.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
State you, know we are it for, hockey and we
also in this very.
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Well What i'm really most proud of to be of
someone living here In, texas In North texas as, well
that it's the most giving place That i've ever. Seen
and so what we do here in this, community we
got the hockey thing. Down you, know we have sixteen
sheets of, ice and we own and operate as The
Dallas stars both to be eighteen twenty twenty. Two we
own a girls volleyball. League we do a lot of
(37:49):
things in the community sports. Oriented so what we wanted
to do is continue to grow the game of, hockey
but also get into the deep roots of things that
really can change a fabric of the future Of texas
And North texas.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
And that includes first and foremost is.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
Education and one of the proud of things that we
did when we got The Winter classic here at The Cotton,
bowl which was. Awesome you, know we went part with
partner With Saint Phillips school In South, dallas you, know
probably a mile away from The Cotton, bowl and they
don't get any federal, fundy state, fundy but this school
and In South, dallas every kid that went there k
through six every kid and they stopped school then went
(38:27):
on to. College and that's that is like an unheard of, statistic,
uh you, know in that. Area and you, know we
gave them two million. Bucks we disagreed to give them
another million dollars to help them with what they're. Doing
but we're down there with our our players are down,
there our staff's down, there are our huge our vast
numbers of our volunteers are down, there and so there's
(38:49):
a lot of things that we do that's just a
big one and kind of highlights things that, say you,
know if you can, change you can change the community
and what you live in better than you found, it
and just really partner with other great.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Groups you, know.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
That's what we're doing. It so we're trying to grow
and get, better and we got a, cool robust. Staff
but you, Know tom mclarty's told us committed, saying, hey
you guys doing great.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Job continue in Brad.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Alberts obviously OUR, ceo you, know he gives us the,
confidence the resources and the means to do. It and
so we're making fans of hockey that really probably don't
go to games and never heard of it and grew
up with, it but you, know they do well in
business and AND i think that's just an additional way
that we saw an avenue to bring people into our,
building or at least into our lives and pay attention
(39:34):
to the great game of. Hockey and, obviously you, know
you guys talk about it all day every. Day but
here In, texas it's always an uphill. Battle you, know
got The, cowboys you got The, colonial you got two golf,
tournaments you got two soccer teams now, three never mind
basketball and. Baseball so it's it's a great, competition keeps you.
(39:55):
Healthy but to go make the big difference in the
community is a good reason for me to kick off
the sheets in the.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Morning and the last thing to, Mention, marty you get
your own brand of beer as, well, too, right tell
us about that these are renaissance.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
MAN i like staying, busy, apparently but my COUSIN i started.
IT covid wasn't. Awesome we brew In canada And, Kingsville.
Ontario we sell here In, texas we sell Across. Ontario
we'll get back Into michigan at some. Point but there
a lot of learning. Curves you, know we, GREW i,
Mean jason know this, RIGHT i was, Went i'm In.
CANADA i could drink more MOLSONS i carried to admit
(40:29):
to and THE, us more bud lights and more free
bud light AND i PROBABLY i probably want, it BUT i.
DO i like beer more, importantly WHAT i did KNOW
i liked was having a family business employing.
Speaker 4 (40:41):
People.
Speaker 5 (40:42):
Uh and then you, know having a beer with your
with your, friends your loved ones or just a hockey.
Fan you, know it's it's a great thing to. Do
just take your mind off and put your phone down
and you, know cheers. Up so right now around here
it's playoff. Hockey it's pattyo. Weather it's been in great.
Weather so to go out and have a beer and
(41:03):
share with friends or old, ones it's some great.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
Places it is a lot of.
Speaker 5 (41:08):
Fun but we got a lot of work to, do
and you'll start seeing it more and more as the years.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Come we'll drink to.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
That, Unfortunately george went norm From cheers passing away. Yesterday
iconic show when it comes to beer and being in the.
Bar Marty, turkle thanks so, Much.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
Barty this was. Awesome best elected The.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
Stars, yeah, Cheers thanks.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Guys time now For centophile a sixty And Bond junos
follow Up mickey seventeen To, parasite which was such a
sensation at The Academy, awards the first film ever in
subtels to Win Best. PICTURE i was rooting For The
Irishman hard that, Year scorsese's film with De, Niro, peshi Al,
(41:46):
pacino and Yet irishman goes zero for Ten parasite was.
SUCCESSFUL i did think parasit was a hell of a. Movie,
jade where were you On? Parasite huge buzz the Can Film.
FESTIVAL i thought it was a great.
Speaker 3 (41:55):
Film, YEAH i love. IT a film with. Subtitles that's?
That That that is that? Good sign me.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
Up So mickey seventeen is the. Followup, okay how can
he Top?
Speaker 2 (42:05):
PARIS i Mean.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
Paris it was an incredible film or to so many different,
Levels and this time it's kind of Like bonjuino's lost his.
Mind but if you followed his, movies this movie's actually
more in line of his other film sci, fi, crazy, eccentric.
Irreverent oakcha is a very strange film which kind of
reminded me Of mickey. Seventeen so the bottom line is
This Robert pattinson is playing two.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Roles this is the year of two. Roles DeNiro played
two roles in The Alto.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Knights does that, say does that save the money when
they do?
Speaker 1 (42:33):
THAT i think in The dennero's, case had to save
a little bit of. Budget they, go rather than five million, each,
guy we'll give you a seven point. Five we'll do,
Both no, problem, Okay MICHAEL. B jordan playing both roles In.
Sinners now you Got Robert pattinson playing two. Roles So
mickey seventeen is Because mickey is a. Replica every time
he keeps getting, killed there's a Different. Mickey there's A mickey,
One mickey, Seven mickey. Ten but now This mickey seventeen
has got some staying. Power Then mickey eighteen pops, out
(42:54):
So pattinson is dueling with. Himself mickey eighteen's more stir
and more. Severe mickey seventeen he's more goofy. Lovable it's
set way way in the, future only you know dystopian
science fiction.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Thrillers and it's all but you know the race for.
Mankind AND i don't want to give you to much.
WEEKS i don want you guys both to watch.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
It BUT i thought it had definitely earmarks Of Bond
juno in terms of that irreverent, sensibility strong, Cash Tony,
klept the Great Mark. RUFFALO i, mean this is seem
to be just kind of Imitating trump at, times but
it was amusing as.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
Well maybe Seventeen.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
Ruffle needs a stand up. Politics just, yeah he's able
to stay up politics and just. Actor hell of an.
Actor i've disliked him more and more just just shut
up and.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
Dribble it's definitely an outspoken. Guy you're right about that you.
Speaker 1 (43:32):
Did at times his performance seems to be leaning into
his own political, observation which Is, trump rather than just
doing the. Character but there's a bit of mixed bag for.
ME i like the fact That Bong june got this
clearly big, budget was able to really wanted with, it
BUT i had some mixed reviews to. It, Overall LIKE i,
SAID i loved the cast That patents was terrific playing two.
ROLES i recommend you guys both to watch. It But
i'm not surprised how the film came Up march. Seventh
(43:53):
did not Do walt the. BOX i was essentially, tanked
AND i hopefully people are going to watch it on
vod it's On max this, week AND i was able
to watch it on DIRECT. Tv tal you're telling me
there's A, bunge you, know exhibit at The Academy museum there.
Speaker 2 (44:04):
IS i took my son. There he loved.
Speaker 6 (44:06):
IT i, mean it's interesting because he you, know he's
known now primarily For, Parasite Fair parasites excuse me the
name of. That but you know you look At Oak
jaw and Snow piercer and the host like.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
This guy was making Snow. Piercer, yeah he's.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
Making incredible action movies Before.
Speaker 6 (44:24):
Parasite so there's a lot of like the models and
the the caricatures and the blueprints for all the different
monsters and things in this. Exhibit like it really kind
of took you behind the scenes of how they designed
the visuals for these like really visually intense films that he,
made not as much On.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Parasite if you're looking for a.
Speaker 6 (44:44):
Whole background On, parasite it's more about his pre parasite.
Work But i'm very curious About mickey. Seventeen it's it
comes out On max this, week because like you go
From Snow piercer And Oak jaw to Then, parasite which
is a completely different. Film it's the most critically acclaimed
movie in a long time to come. Along and then
you have to follow that up and which direction do
you go? In do you go back to the parasite
(45:07):
sort of, dramatic quirky zone or do you go back
to what you started with, with you, know big monsters
and epic action and huge action. Scenes so looking forward
to checking that.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
Out, yeah he definitely went back to the. Monsters there's
some there's some creepy looking quitters in this. Movie he
was blowing the budget on, that no doubt about.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
THAT a couple other hockey stories to proways say Goodbye,
stars locker, room they beat The jets and who shows
Up Wayne. Gretzky what that's, right buddies With peter de
Boor dallas is playing The oilers in the next. Round
that's the Team gretzky played for when he do it
all his greatest individual and team successes and his incredible.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
CAREER a lot of people are now DUMPING jd on
the great.
Speaker 1 (45:41):
One they, say why is he going to congratulate The,
Stars he's An oilers.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
GUY i had no issue with. It he's just supporting.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
Hockey, YEAH i just think people need To he's the
you know how hard it is to be you, know
when we Had tyson Nash on AND i GET i

WAYNE i, think, Quick, NO i haven't Met Wayne. Gretzky.
NO i you, know it's just. Crazy And i've been around,
him AND i, mean the guy's gonna do so much
(46:07):
for the league and has called on to do so.
Much you, know he's there just. Supporting it's tough enough
to play in THE, nhl and he doesn't need to.
Be you, know we all know who he's cheering. For
we all know that he Wants edmonton to. Win it's
not a, secret you. KNOW i just wish to get
the mics out of you, know they get the mics
and the camera out of, there and just let him
get in, there because he looked like he, was you,
(46:27):
know joining himself at the game a little, bit and
as he should as a man that does so much
for this. GAME i just, think just leave him, Alone,
like stop trying to dig into where he where he's.
Going he's just saying he's going where he's told right
now and doing what he can to Support Gary bedman
in the, league like just zip it. Fans these are
(46:48):
one of those, moments right you, KNOW i think you,
know THE nhl and scripted crowd probably loves my hot
takes and wants me to really dive in and bury.
Somebody But i'm burying, you bearing you all out. There
leave him? Alone well right, now leave me, Alone leave me.
Alone the waves.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Been facing so much, heat so much. Shit, literally his
statue was defecated On. EDMONTON i, Know i'm just looking
for another reason to crap on, him And i'm.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
With, You, yeah just because he's sitting With Cash pattel
at The capital's, game and, like come, on guy plays
golf with all these guys In. Florida what do You
who do you think plays golf out? There not none
of you liberals for Other.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
Republicans if you start determining who you like based on,
politics but then you're gonna have a very small, pool,
Right that's WHAT i.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
Mean we're all like they're trying to put us in.
Boxes stop going into the box that they're trying to
put you.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
In be.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Yourself god damn, it, People.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
One more thought for we say goodbye congratulations in or
for The Muskegan lumberjacks The United States Hockey. League then
when The Clark cup is league champions for the first
time in franchise, History Jack christ is it taut or is?
Speaker 4 (47:51):
It?
Speaker 2 (47:51):
Indeed Jack?
Speaker 1 (47:52):
Christ as in The, Savior he scored the title clinching
goal in overtime to give The minnesota native a hat
trick almost as impressive as his performance in the teleclinching.
Speaker 2 (47:59):
Game is, Awesome selfie Stick. Selly have you had a
chance jad to watch the celebration On? Instagram it was going.
Speaker 3 (48:05):
Wild the young kids got all these, cool, little little little.
CELEBRATIONS i didn't love them WHEN i you, know WHEN
i was, playing and you know when we first saw
the emergence of these young kids coming in and kind
of changing the. Way but, again you can call It
instagram hockey, whatever but, listen they're. Excited people love the
celebrations in football AND, nfl and there was a big
(48:26):
uproar for it to. HAPPEN i, know our game is
a little bit different where the history and the respect
for the history is a big thing and making sure
that we're you, know all these good guys that just
kind of high five and go back onto the bench
and drink our water and gatorade and that's. It but,
listen kids are excited they're. PLAYING i, mean if you
have an issue with it on the, ice just kick
(48:47):
the shit out of. Them and if you, don't you,
know and if you're not playing in that, league then
just once, again there's a theme to this, show sit,
down shut up as really to the fans right now
BECAUSE i listen and to the, people, WELL i just
get tired of people just want to look for something
to poo poo. On and, again it is what it.
Is as long as this kid has respect for the,
(49:10):
Game i'm all for. It if he, doesn't well then
that's a different. Story but you, know you leave it
to what happens on the ice and the other team's
got to clean it. Up BUT i think it's it's
a cool Little it's. Cool they got some cool. Ones
they really do some cool.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
Ones my favorite celebration all Time Mark malik not notice
a goal score when he scored.
Speaker 3 (49:26):
You Like mary all the. TIME i MEAN i love.
THAT i was gonna say team Of solane and BUT
