Sabrina Carpenter is back in the headlines with a bold move. After facing online backlash for the original cover of her upcoming album Man's Best Friend—which featured her on all fours with someone pulling her hair—Carpenter has released an alternate “God-approved” version. The new image, featuring her clutching a man's arm and staring confidently into the camera, has sparked a new round of discussion about artistic expression, sexism, and public perception.

Is it a PR pivot, satire, or another layer to her album's message? The Jubal Show team dives into the controversy, comparing it to Nicole Kidman’s provocative role in the 2024 film Babygirl and the broader conversation around women owning their sexuality in pop culture. Plus, dad perspectives on how this content plays at home with younger listeners.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Give us three minutes and we'll give you everything you
need to know for the day. But it's time for
Nina's what's trending.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
So Sabrina Carpenter released an alternate cover for her new
album Man's Best Friend. So if you were paying attention,
then you may have seen the first release of the
album where she's on all fours and somebody's pulling her hair. Well,
since then she has gotten a lot of backlash because
people were calling it sexist and suggestive and whatever else
you could think of, and it became very controversial. So

(00:25):
recently she released this new one that she claims is
approved by God. And this one is a picture of
her with man. It's actually, I mean it's fine. It's
just like her like looking at the camera and like
holding onto a man's arm, so.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Hoding onto a man's arm like on like Okay, I'm
trying to picture because I can't find it.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Yeah, because the other one she's like on a dog
collar on all fours.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (00:48):
Well, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
My thing is though, if you're gonna like put something
out there like that kind of just like full sunded
well does send.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
This picture is probably her trolling's and That's what some
people are saying right now, is that she's just being like, Okay,
this one's approved by God, blah blah blah.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Yeah, I love how everyone calls things sexist and misogynist
and all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
She can do whatever she wants.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
That's the whole point, maybe, right, Yeah, it is her decision.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
I think she was being serious there either. I think
she was being playful. And the album is called A
Man's Best Friend. I mean, I don't know. You can
have whatever kind of conversation you want about it.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
Yeah it's a sexual photo. Yeah sure. But then her music, Yeah,
what was that?

Speaker 2 (01:32):
What was that movie that just came out, the one
with Nicole Kidman, the one that I tad girl.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
That one threw me for a loop.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
I wonder if it was almost like a nod to
that movie Baby Girl, because it had a big year.
And then Man's Best Friend comes out, because if you
haven't seen the movie Baby Girl, Nicole Kidman does that
in the movie. Yeah, she's dominated essentially by her dude,
and so she's like on all fours and does she
like barks and stuff or so?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
I don't like it was like a ratchet fifty shades
of gray they made or something, and.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
It was like the roles are reversed, like that is
the CEO, right, not even ratchet like it was.

Speaker 6 (02:06):
It wasn't ratchet. But I can't drink milk the same the.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Lady Love version.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
Oh okay, Yes, it's a very interesting movie. It was
an interesting movie.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
That's the vibe that I got when I saw the cover.
So I don't know if that any if they're connected
or if they're not connected, or if it's just a
conversation we're trying to have.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Sabrina Coverner is just salacious. That's what she's gonna She's
a whole song asking people if they've tried different positions,
like that's just what it is, like if you don't
like or don't listen, don't love.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
You're a parent of a daughter, Yeah, does it bug you?
Like because that's the kind of music you know that
your kid would listen to. Yeah, you know, does it
bug you? The lyrics and stuff?

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Like I've always wondered that beating them fair question.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
No I don't.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
I don't really care.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
You just didn't let her go to the concert? Yeah
I didn't.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
Yeah we did not go to the concert because visual
is a lot different than in the other thing. Yeah,
I think that for me, there's a strong enough well
just say it. I'm a good enough dad to be
able to handle all that stuff. She comes to me
and asks me questions all the time, it would blow
your mind, and I just calmly answer her questions.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Sabrina Carpenter spells camaraderie different, and my teachers told me.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Is that the correct way to spell it? Absolutely not.
I never say that word again.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
No, I just I just said, you know, what depends
on how you're trying to use it. Here's how your
teachers use it, Here's how Sabrina's I'm just very honest
with her about how it.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
So she does understand the way. So I think what
you're saying is an open dialogue.

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Open dialogue always.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Yeah, Well, one last thing.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I'll lead to camaraderie weird. It is odd, weird.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
It kind of sounds like comrade on me. But I
don't think that's what it is.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
That's weird. English teacher is Actually, we'll just leave it there.
That's what's trending. I'll save the other one for tomorrow,
all right,
