Speaker 1 (00:05):
Good mornings, Sweet world, and welcome to the Not Dunks Podcast,
presented by Fan Duel. It's Monday, November seventeenth, twenty twenty five.
I'm Jay Skeets here in the Classic Factory, and alongside
me back from Canada, it's Tass Mills, so warm down
here next to him, it's my top shot hot boy,
Trey Kirby. Hell, hey yo, and over Yonder making the

(00:26):
magic happen. He's a little under the weather right now.
Super producer JD Hella, Hey JD Oh yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
That voice gravelly.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, yeah. I had what you have now? Oh, a
couple of weeks ago. Yeah, I gave it to I
think TK. Did you have something?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
No, no, no, no, I'm waiting.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Oh oh you're gonna yeah, I know. Thanksgiving all the
perfect timing. How was the John Legend performance up in
the fall.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
We're going to get into John come on, Oh yeah,
I got no problem getting into John.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
You know.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
It wasn't his best performance. I've been there. I've been
there many times, seen him do it many times. There
was a bit of a lounge singer feel because I
think we're in a casino and he was catering. Literally,
he was catering buck lady, how daring? How dare you?
He put his heart and soul on the stage because

(01:19):
he does that. Being said, I think he was catering
to the literally the geezers out there, Oh oh.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Their soul singing quietly?

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Were you know he was young? No, maybe, but I
don't know. We're in the back row. He picked a
great row so he could get up and dance. Happy
about that, But I mean he did a little of
the Hey, would you like to come on stage with me?
There's no knee for for a fan to come on stage.
He literally got on his knees for that person. He's

(01:52):
never done that. He's never done that before. Like he
dropped to his knees like, you know, like bowing to
her in a way, like praising her. Kind of think
it was It was quick, It wasn't a big deal.
It wasn't dancing with her a lot. That being said,
I just want him to leave his heart and soul
on the stage like he did. It was like two
and a half hours of him singing. He just between songs,

(02:12):
lights went down, he'd get off stage. They'd you know,
dry him off with the towel. I think I don't
know what happens off stage, but he'd come right back on.
Listen the I think the backup singers just weren't in tuned.
They weren't great. It wasn't great. Going to Niagara Falls
with these with these ancient fans watching him was not
ideal for John. That's all I gotta say. It wasn't
the best. Like he went to Brooklyn. Lauren Hill joined

(02:35):
him on stage in Brooklyn. That was a good, but
I'm Hill.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Six hours of waiting for Lauren Hill will come up.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
So I was good. He's good.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
You're selling it.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Oh I'm not.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
That's my seventh time i've seen him. I'd go back
and do it again. I'm alleged i'd do it again.
Danielle said she probably wouldn't go back. I said, how
dare you? How dare you? It was all about the venue,
and he kicked ass. He's saying a lot, but I
just want to hear socks.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
I don't need to know, like an All Star game
or something. Performing the basketball. It was fine, but it's
all this other crap, catering.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I'm hearing a lot of excuses over here.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Excuse he's saying Wow, John doesn't have his fastball lot.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
He still has. I said he's young. Somebody somebody with
us said, oh, he's he's getting older, and I said, no, no,
fricking way. He was born in the year I think
it was seventy seven or something. And then he said,
and then person, yeah, that's exactly what the person said, Well,
he's closer to fifty than forty. He's okay. I don't care,

(03:42):
he can still do it. I just want to know
what is How does Christy feel about him bowing to
another woman dancing with her a little bit, not that
she gives a crap. And we got to know she
has a podcast. She could do an episode on it.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
She wasn't there.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
So you think this is him responding to Usher going
out to Las Vegas and do it sexy dents is women.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Every night he's going to do something. There is.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yes, he's changing, he's changing the tune. But I think
the rest of his tour is this the John Legend podcast.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
I think the rest of this tour this is like
what Chrissy Tea gives podcast is like right alone.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
She has a guest on anyway, I've had an episode anyway,
he was he's great, as he always says, no excuses JG.
The bigger question is why is the Niagara Falls a
great city? That's my question. Yeah, why isn't that a
better destination? Why isn't there more tourism sold there? It's not.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
It's like I feel I haven't been there a long time,
but I feel like it was like they put all
their money into the tourism spot in Niagara Falls in
like nineteen eighty four, and nothing's changed since. Do you
know what I mean? Yeah, like still still looks like
nineteen eighty four in a weird way. Last time I
was there.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yep, not much going on.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, all right, that's the John Legend Report.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
Thank you. I'll see him again. I'll let you guys,
I know you will.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
We're gonna run through some NBA weekend winners and losers
on today's podcast, and we're gonna find out whether Tasks
can keep his incredible Pickham losing streak alive. He has
hit double digits. He has not won in the month
of November ten. Big game Tonight, big line We've got
We will show you later on what it is. But

(05:26):
we had some weggies over the weekend. They always are
coming on the weekend. We had three more wedgies starting
on Friday night. Oh yeah, that's court in Minnesota. We
can barely see the weggie here, but that's Nick Clifford
King's rookie sticking his first career weggie with a three
point attempt. That was number eleven. Same game, demoness motus
is gonna get hit on the head here from nas Reed,

(05:49):
so he'll go to the foul line. But that was
a weggie. That's number twelve, and then number thirteen was
on Saturday, and that's Yaka Perl with a nice help
defense block got us up to thirte beautiful stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Yeah, it's allably some snowflakes here in Atlanta last week.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, we did.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
And those were snowflakes, three different ones.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
And every Sunday I'm actually grading every wedgie that we
show you over on the Nodunk's substack page. So if
you haven't got a subscription, maybe that'll encourage you to
get one. Link is in the show notes. Okay, before
we get to winners and losers, let's talk about Willy Green.
On Saturday, the Pelicans fired head coach Willy Green after
the brutal too and ten start to the season. Pel's

(06:28):
assistant James Barrego serving as interim head coach. He already
coached one game that they would go on to lose
against the Warriors. But your thoughts to the Pelicans deciding
to move off of Willy after twelve games.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
It felt like it was something that needed to be done.
This team obviously not performing on either end, and they've
got such of a hodgepodge of a roster, like they're
kind of going in two paths. They've got this air
quotes leadership with Zion Williamson that Joe Dumars had these
conversations with it's on you, It's on you, It's on you.
And despite him missing a bunch of games, I think

(07:02):
they just ain't playing that hard when they get blown
up by thirty and three of their first six games,
the first time that's ever been done, thanks to Keeks
for that set, Amazon's Stetian Keeks. That being said, I
think they played better in that single game afterwards against
the Golden State Warriors. I know they got beat by
double digits, but you don't often see a role player

(07:25):
like Moses Moody or any player hit seven threes in
the first quarter. That just doesn't happen very much. So
they got seriously hot. Honestly, that's the eighth time and
play by play era that a player's hit seven threes
in a quarter in the first quarter. Excuse me, that's
Brett Usher with That's that they held curty nine points.
What I liked, you know, circling back is I think
James Bargo got them playing hard defensively. It's about ball movement,

(07:47):
man movement and playing hard. And when you get beat
by thirty and three of the first six games, and
it happens over and over, they just ain't playing hard.
They weren't playing hard. For Willy Green, I think he
knew it was over.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, it was past due time for Willie Green to go.
In New Orleans, there's been reporting that David Griffin wanted
to move on from Dave from Willie over the summer,
but ownership basically said, no.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
Keep him around.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
He has helped us a little bit in the past.
So Joe Dumars gets hired as GM. First thing he
does is send Zion Williamson to the draft lottery. They're
saying we're keeping Zion. Second thing was Willy Green is safe,
and it's felt like the reason he was safe is
because ownership wanted him to be safe. They come in
this season, got nothing to hang their hat on. The

(08:29):
Derek Queen trade kind of amped up the pressure around
the team. So getting off to a two to ten
start under Willie Green, it just meant that it was
going to happen, and it finally did happen. Like Tass said,
they're not playing very hard for him. They don't really
have any sort of an identity. They were a top
ten defense a couple of times during Willie Green's tenure,
but that was seasons ago. At this point, that was

(08:53):
the closest they ever came to having an identity. But
players are shuffling in and out of the lineup. Zion
was healthy at the start of the season. He isn't wow.
They had a big trade for Jontae Murray the previous season.
They did the CJ McCollum for Jordan Poole over the offseason,
like a lot of things have changed, and during that
transition period, the Pelicans have lost any sort of anything

(09:14):
to be able to rely on. So I think you've
seen some stuff from Joe Dumars come out saying he
wants an identity, and that's exactly what New Orleans needs.
Somebody who's going to get him to play hard and
do something smart on one side of the ball or
the other.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, they didn't have it last year. This was a
long time coming. They did have that great twenty three
to twenty four season where they went to the postseason.
You know, I call it great because that's an accomplishment,
and then last year they frankly, they fell apart. They
were just at the bottom of the barrel.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
These numbers have changed a little bit after I guess
Sunday's action, but New Orleans is tied for the third
worst record or they were tied for the third worst
record in the NBA since the start of twenty four
to twenty five. So we're talking about like the Wizards
were at nineteen and seventy five, Jazz twenty one and
seventy three, three Pels and Hornets were twenty three and
seventy one. So this is over a long stretch here,

(10:05):
and it's been a lot of injuries for sure, bad luck.
You know, maybe are convinced there's like some sort of
voodoo curse on this team. But they were just massively
underperforming preseason expectation, especially after the trade to move up
in the draft, and so someone has to take the
bullet for the Els, and it's the coach is usually
the scapegoat, and he'd been there for a while sort

(10:25):
of was like a odd sort of lame duck coach.
With the new sort of front office coming in there,
he got a chance to see if he could sort
of cut it, and they tuned him out. The other
part of this is like things started so poorly for
the Pelicans, Like I guess it was Friday night the
Lakers were in town in that in that building. When
the Lakers come to town, I mean that's usually a
huge draw, Like there's a big buzz in the crowd.

(10:45):
There's a lot of Lakers fans obviously all all around
the country. You know, the fan base, the home fan
base gets up for it. There's a buzz. I don't
know if you saw it, Like there wasn't. That's bad sign.
So like the already a sort of a city here
where it's tough to keep interest in this team like
that had just completely gone in the crapper. So there's

(11:06):
that as well, like just get some life back into
this team or try to. Yeah, because there's no incentive
to tank either. I mean, they don't have a pick,
so you got to try and win. They starting three
rookies though now, so maybe they lean into that.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yeah. I think if you're looking at other organizations that
don't necessarily have the playoffs to get to, but you
hope that they play as hard as though. As you
look at the Phoenix Suns and what they're doing, you
want some of that some of that aspiration on the
defensive end. And again, this is back to back years
of being poor defensively, So even if you don't have

(11:40):
it offensively, you should have some effort going on the
defensive end. Neither is happening.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
I saw Sam Quinn make note at CBS Sports the
Pelicans have been in New Orleans since two thousand and
three and they've won only two playoff series despite drafting
basically three superstars when they play and when they're healthy
in Chris Paul, Anthony Davis, and Zion Williamson. That is
pretty insane. You know, the lack of playoff series is
one thing, but you you know, did draft well, you

(12:06):
did have talent, and for whatever reason they can't say healthy,
it can all work together.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
They drafted two of the biggest prospects in the twenty
first century and never were able to amount to anything
except for being trade partners for other places that had
success with those guys. So yeah, it was time, you know,
they fired the GM. Next up as the coach, then
it's blowing things up. So we'll see what the next
person does.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yep, all right, let's get to NBA Weekend winners. Tak
let's start with you do a couple of rounds of this,
obviously make our way to losers, or do you want to.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Start with I'm gonna start with the Houston Rockets. They
had two wins. The first one put up one hundred
and forty points of the Blazers. Great, all that good.
What I was more impressed with was how they beat
their Atlanta Magic in a game that they should not
have won, because it felt like the Magic kept holding
down the Rockets when they kept trying to fight back.
The Rockets barely led in this game. They led real,

(12:58):
real early, and they kept fighting. They kept fighting. And
there's a new Orlando Magic team that has come around
since Desmond Main spiked a ball on Yaka and Konglu's face.
Even in this one. He had ree Shepherd's head that
was a block shot and hit his head and reached
Everid just tripped him and said that's you can't do that.
Got a flagrant foul for that. But Franz Wagner got

(13:19):
hit right in the face mask by Kevin Durant, right
in the nose. But this Magic team is so different
they I thought they were winning this game, that would
have put them to five and one since that spike
of the ball on Yaka Congo's had. That was a
different defensive team that we've seen in these first or
these last six games since that. And they did a
good job against the Rockets. Alburn and Sheng Gun missed

(13:41):
twenty shots in this game, Wendel Carter Junior did a
really good job on him, and men Thompson had his
worst game of the season, and again they kept fighting
back against the Rockets' efforts to overcome that. Without Paula
Bankra in this game, without Jalen Sugs in this game,
who were both injured, and it came down to the wire.
Franz Wagner doing his best, he had a season high,

(14:01):
Desmond Bain doing his best. He had a season high
but Kevin Durant what they got him for, ended up
doing a great job in the last few minutes, hit
that beauty three under three minutes left, still magic win up.
We're up three and with twenty two seconds left, it
was Ken Durant's time to tie it up. It was
Wendell Carter Junior trying his best to guard him. I

(14:22):
call it the running man defense because he was just
trying to psych him out. This is I'm going to
guard you. And when Kevin Durant just went into his
step back package slide smooth hits that three to tie it.
And then even though it's all tied up, Alber and
shech Gun could have had an easy, easy inbound alle
loop to win this game like we saw last year.

(14:42):
Last week we saw some beauties. He had a Men
Thompson going to the hoop. For some reason, he didn't
pass to him, passed to the backcourt instead. That's when
Anthony Black gets a dunk, although he missed the free throw,
and that allowed Albert and chen Gun to just hit
a hook shot to tie this game. Send its overtime again,
though Desmond Bain was good in overtime, gives them that
lead to start this overtime, but the Rockets kept fighting.

(15:05):
I thought it was sort of a mirror of the
two teams and that they didn't really have a point
guard starting on either team. Anthony Black was starting for
the Magic, who did some good things, but the Rockets
get by with just nineteen assists in this game as
they just kept fighting and fighting. Kevin Durant ended up
doing it. That's what they've gone for closing. Kevin did
enough to get this team a victory. So impressive for

(15:28):
me that they win this game again with Shanghu not
being awesome and men Thompson having his worst game.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
It was an entertaining game for sure, and it was
looked like a game like especially from the Rockets side
with you okay, the way he was coaching, I think
only eight guys played for them like they were going
for this like it was a nice little litmus test.
I felt for both teams here, despite the Magic being
short of a key guy. But what did you think
of this one? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:48):
I think it came down to the Rockets having the
two best players on the court in the fourth quarter,
Like Shannghun was held down ultimately, though some of his
misses were just playing volleyball on the offensive class but
he was four for six in the fourth quarter, hit
two of the biggest shots, including the hook right there
at the end. I thought Kevin Durant did hit the
biggest shot when he hit the three pointer had when
del Carter Junior dancing, But somehow there was enough time

(16:11):
left on the clock for like three more.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Possessions after that. That was crazy.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
Kdi falls down on the turnover, big time miss by Black,
great block by Shehnggoon. I thought, as well, they ran
him out there to guard Anthony Black. Black brings the
ball up the court, plays happened and he blocks him
at the rim, then got the game tying hook shot,
which was pretty cool. I also loved early in the
overtime they're playing volleyball for a little bit. It's Shngoon

(16:38):
and Adams just knocking the offensive rebounds. Shenggoon finally gets
it and dishes it.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Behind them backs Steven Adams.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
That was a beauty there.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
But nineteen offensive rebounds for the Rockets in this one
against a big team as well in the Magic so
felt like a playoff like atmosphere. I guess this would
be the nineteen ninety five NBA Finals rematch, should both
these teams get there. I don't think it's quite likely
that either of them do. But I thought a really
fun game to watch. I thought, Reed Shepherd, this guy's

(17:07):
really come along. They figured out how he can stay
on the floor. Basically when he's playing, they're playing zone defense,
which allows him to kind of freelance and make some
plays and not get targeted nearly as much. And then
he's shooting the ball really well. Sixteen points last night,
went two of four from the three point line, So
he looks pretty solid. If they're getting contributions from him.
I still think they'll probably want to ultimately upgrade one

(17:30):
of their guard rotations because they're getting enough out of
Josha Kogie.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Like he's able to stay on the court.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
He's not necessarily going to be a big score for him,
but he's contributing. Aaron Holliday hit a big three. Like
I said, Shepherd's playing pretty well. But they've got pieces
to be able to go and get somebody who can
really contribute.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
But for now, why mess with what's working.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Yeah, Reed was great, he really was, and they targeted
him defensively and he did foul a few times over
and over. But he is fighting, he's scrapping, he stuck
that foot out like he's in a wrestling match. He's
doing what he's supposed to be doing. But this this
game kind of was a wrestling match, and that there
was a lot of fighting. They even called Aaron Holiday
for a fullop. You don't see that in basketball very often,

(18:11):
but there's so many bodies flowing all over the place.
The refereges had to say something, just just stop doing that.
But it was fun physically fun game.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
And yeah, Durant with thirty five points on thirteen to
twenty four shooting perfect at the line six or sist
five boards and you said it already. Test It's like, yep,
this is why you upgrade, so to speak, from Dylan
Brooks and Jail and Green and maybe they're low efficiency
when it comes to shooting to the maybe the greatest
pure scorer we've ever seen. And he's coming through what
year is this for him? Nineteen? I know he missed

(18:40):
a year, but eighteen nineteen, whatever you want to call it.
And he's still an absolute bucket and still at the
end of the game, there's like few guys you'd want
to just hand the ball to and say just go
get us a two or three because he's going to
get a look every single time.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
But he doesn't even care.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
No, he was going to Shannggoon like ten two man game,
and most of his buckets were coming after passes from
sheng guon. Shng Gun is the go to for them,
but KD, if he's your second option the clutch, it's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
Yeah, I would almost push back on that though in
this game at least, like there was times where like
that last one where you guys talked about it just
got thrown into Shngun and hit the little hook. I
mean that was all because three guys were like focused
on KD, who you think is going to get the ball,
and well drawn up play I thought from Yudoka. Weird
defensive play from Anthony Black and the magic he's guarding

(19:25):
the the inbounder on Men Thompson. There's like one and
a half second like he has his back turned to him.
That's fine, but like he's in no man's lane. He
wasn't doing anything. If you're gonna do that just like
double team KD like take him out. That was weird.
But anyway, they have two guys that can just end
these games at awesome. Yeah, in the clutch. That was
a fun ass game that go into overtime, one of

(19:46):
many overtime games on Sunday. Then we'll get to but
who do you have as a winner of the weekend?

Speaker 4 (19:53):
The Wemby versus Draymond showdown one of the iconic moments
of the season Friday night. Four minutes into the fourth quarter,
we and Draymond or Joshling Joshlyn jostling for a position
underneath the hoop, and like the referees keep separating them
and you can see both Wemby and Raymond are like,
we're good, We're good, Like, let's just bang, Let's just bang.
Wenby goes for the shack spin alley from Stefan Castle,

(20:16):
throws it down, crowd erupts, screams in Draymond's face, fall.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
On the floor.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
Yeah, I'll forget that in time, You'll totally forget that.
They call the foul on the floor. Next play, another
foul on Draymond didn't really matter. Postgame, though, Wemby said,
if somebody speaks to you a certain way, you have
to respond a certain way.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
That was just so cool to see.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
You have to imagine Draymond respects it, Oh, get head
shodn like that after like Draymond intentionally trying to get
under his skin using the leverage play against Wenby, but
then Wenby realizing, yeah, I'm a foot taller than you,
just throw it out of the air. That was amazing
and it just felt like a generation to generation moment,
right like seeing those two go up against each other.

(20:58):
A guy who's a defined like the small ball era
of the NBA as a defender, as a big man
defender in Draymond just looking tiny against Welemby. That was awesome.
Then the game also turned out to be great. Steph
Curry forty nine points after scoring forty six a couple
of nights prior against San Antonio, hit a big three
late that started the rally. Darn Fox could not buy

(21:20):
a bucket late and this one went oh of four,
had a turnover in the last two minutes here. I
do think he may have been able to get the
ball to Wemby after Wemby had that block on Jimmy
Butler on the fast break. You have to get him
the ball after he blocks the shot because he's guaranteed
gonna score.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
Usually a three.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Yeah, this would have been a lob.

Speaker 4 (21:38):
It would have been a tough play, but you know,
Fox is a clutch player and he wanted to take
a bunch of mid range jumpers. I think you gotta
go to Wemby a little bit there. But a nice
win for Golden State. But the Wemby versus Draymond moment
is very, very memorable. Doesn't even really matter what the
score of the game was afterwards.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
No, Yeah, you could see in Wemby how calm he was.
He wasn't going to get physical with him. He was
like the Showlin' Monk mode where he was just in
peace and just took care of business and maybe rubbed
off on Draymond Green because Traymond Green goes into New
Orleans and there was a fan this weekend that got
right into Draymond's face and just kept asking him to

(22:18):
basically hit me type of thing, like they were super
close on the baseline. He kept talking to him, Draymond Green,
maybe the Vince uh, the Victor Remgyama Monk mode rubbed
off on him because he was cool in that moment. Anyway,
I could to walk away, but it was cool the
way Wenby handled it and just took their business.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
Really and Steph Curry, Man, holy crap, Like, is this
guy the best post prime score ever? I think he
tied MJ for the most forty plus point games after
the age of thirty. So you have to assume Curry's
got at least one more in him coming soon enough.
But yeah, just unbelievable. No quiet game on Sunday, nine

(22:58):
point weird the Spurs man, and man, I want this
to be like a series so bad a great series.
Oh if he's so good, I don't know how we
would get there. It'd have to be like, I guess
a four or five matchup of you know, maybe a
three six, Yeah, something like that. Yeah, it could happen.
I think a lot has to break for it to open.
But anyway, awesome two games spec to back in the

(23:19):
Spurs coming up just short in both those. Hey, Draymond
played Wenby pretty well too. Anytime he's on him. Yes,
the other part like this was great and everybody was like, yeah,
in your face, Draymond, But like's it was, he plays
him well, that's what it's all about, man.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
Yeah, it's a Draymond playing to his strengths, trying to
be the tougher, smaller, stronger guy, Wendy playing to his
strengths being the longer, vertical athlete sort of type. You know,
we saw the Suns had success against Wenby. That is
going to be the recipe as him just having such
a high center of gravity that if you put a smaller,
stronger guy on him, it's going to give him some

(23:53):
sort of problems. But as we've seen, he's figured out
how to go against a player like that, So it
would be really cool to see if they can somehow
end up. I think it would have to be four
or five basically, because it kind of feels like the
top three are already going to be set in the
Western Conference if we're being quite honest. But shout out
to Draymond. He called out the team they bench Jonathan Kaminga.

(24:14):
Then he got hurt and Draymond and Steph said, yeah,
we were talking about the Jimmy Draymond. They were talking
about the young guys. So ste's they get on my back.
Draymond says, I'm going to lock in and play some
really really good defense. And the Warriors got a few
nice wins here.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Yeah, and uh, I mean, we don't need to do
it right now, but get your kaminga trade packages ready
to go. Job for sure. Yeah, Like I can't wait
till we get closer to the deadline because yeah, they've
sort of kicked it up a notch after him sort
of going to the bench. My winner of the weekend
is Sunday Hoops. Let's keep it simple. Three of Sunday's
eight games went into overtime. You already talked about the

(24:47):
Magic Rockets game, how great that was. We also had
the Mavericks scoring a much needed one thirty eight to
one thirty three overtime win against the Blazers. It was
sort of fun to see the crowd into a game
hearing on the guys. Cooper Flag one of his best
performances of the year. Yeah, making some big plays down stretch.
So that was great. And then we had Kante George

(25:07):
coming up clutch with the game winning three pointer in
double overtime for the Jazz, beating Trey Kirby's Chicago Bulls
one fifty to one forty seven. NBA's highest scoring game
of the season went to double overtime, So it makes sense.
But Larry Markinen scored forty seven. He's looking more and
more like an All Star lock. So it's with the
Jazz winning some games here, but man, holy crap, there

(25:30):
was a lot of buckets. Kobe White back for your bulls,
Yeah on a minute's restriction until he wasn't Yeah. I
was like, bad things can happen when you're playing on
a sore calf.

Speaker 4 (25:39):
But uh, for whatever reason, Isaacacoro was guarding Larry markin
in for the majority of the second half in this one.
He's like a foot shorter than Marketing. Market was just
catching the ball shooting over the top. But what ended
up happening was Kante George got pretty lucky on the
last shot. He was two for nine from three and
then they left him open to hit the game winner,
and guess what, he hit the game winner.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
That was a weird, weird game.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Kobe White had a steal right at the end of
regulation or at the end of the first overtime, should
have had a lamp, but went into like a slow
man's yes pa. He tried to decelerate and he decelerated
too much, end up being a turnover, and then somehow
got another turnover.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
Back made some.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Free throws, but a bad balls loss for being quite honest,
they're back.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
We all have hundred. They're back to five hundred.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Yeah, they lost five straight, yeah, six and one, and
now they just lost five straight.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
Damn Well. We saw another Hawks rally from twenty two
down in the fourth quarter last night too. This is
still on Sunday here, we're just talking Sunday's games. They
beat the Suns one twenty four two test Nikhil Alexander
Walker looked like a goddamn star in the fourth quarter.
Dyson Daniels, there was a two to three minute stretch
where he was everywhere, everywhere, getting his hand on every

(26:47):
single ball, hitting the ground, coming up with crazy rebounds,
attacking as well. So the Hawks finished this road trip here,
Western road trip four to oh wasn't the greatest team.
Sons was the best team they played, probably, but scrappy
bunch here without Trey Young. Right, we don't have to
have that conversation either, but you're seeing a lot more
of like, hey, Hawks are like seven and two without

(27:08):
Trey Young here.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah, seven and two on the road this season, Yeah
a good number. Yeah, they're playing extremely well to close
that ut. Yeah, great Sunday just to finish it off.
I thought the Phoenix Suns looking great, had won five
straight games going into this game, and then they just
get closed out on a thirty eight to fifteen run.
Watching that, I was thinking, wow, eight and five, this
team literally could be ten and three if you want

(27:31):
to be all optimistic. They had another lottery marketing performance
against them, They had a fifty point performance against them
that gave them one loss. They had a drama rant
game winner. Maybe they could be ten three, and then
all of a sudden, boo boo boop. Now they're eight
and six and they don't have of course, Jalen Green now,
so that somewhat hurts. But watching that, Dylan Brooks had
his first back to back thirty point games of his career.

(27:54):
I mean, what's going on here with these Phoenix Suns?
And then just that close out. I mean it looked
like the Suns had this game.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
He's got yeah, like twenty plus with like nine minutes ago.
It's like, okay, end of a road trip for the Hawks.
Played really well without Trey Young. Most teams are probably like,
al right, we gonna go back to Atlanta. We'll feel
pretty good about that road trip. Like yeah, No, then
suddenly things started happening. We had a crazy scary fall
from Zachary Resachet off a dunk coming a little uh colin,

(28:20):
little tiny push to the back doesn't take much when
the guy's in the air, but he swung on the
on obviously the rim and went flying land. It's so hard.
Hopefully he's nothing serious in return to this game. But
that was amidst the crazy comeback. Yes where again the
kil Axander Walker was. Guy was a superstar.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
He made a ton of big plays down the stretch.
Hawks had thirty five assists on forty five makes. They're
a top three defense since Trey Young went down. Like
your sand skeets, they haven't played the top of the
Western Conference, but they beat all the teams that were
put on their schedule, and I think that's even a
little surprising, giving given out they looked with treyfre for

(29:01):
his injury like the offense was falling off the table
and now it's cooking. Everybody moves the ball. I don't know,
I know conversations are going to be had.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. The packages will be out there,
especially because they didn't give Tray that extension and seeing
at least a team playing together and There's a reason
why Niki l Alexanderwalker can go off like that, because
they are moving the ball. He wasn't just playing one
on one by any means. They move it. He sees
the opportunity, he sees the lane, and he's taking it.
So he looked great, obviously.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
And then finally on Sunday, it was one of the
earlier games the Celtics fended off the Clippers in a
clutch win for them. Harden caught fire. He scored thirty
two of his thirty seven in the second half. He
would not let la die. Harden was very close to
getting a winner of the weekend because he had forty
one the game prior on Friday night, and then he
was hitting big shot after big shot down the stretch
for this one. Clippers made it one nineteen pet eighteen

(29:51):
on Harden's three with two seconds left. Pritchard was fouled.
He hit both free throws, so there's like a couple
of seconds left, not a lot. They have no way
to advance the ball. The Clippers do, but they run
a great play. I don't know if you guys saw this.
Chris Dunn full throws the full court pass to Zubats
who jumps up, catches it and sort of like almost

(30:12):
controlled tip pass to Harden who's trailing, and he got
an unbelievably open look out of three that would have
tied it up, and that was the one that he missed.
But it was a fun ending on that one that
got it started on Sunday for all these amazing games.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Yeah, that was a great look for James Harden. He's
not a catch and shoot guy, really, like that's not
his thing, and so it felt odd both him missing
it and both him taking it in a way because
he wants to dribble that thing. But this is a
bad obviously a bad start for the Clippers. Here four
to nine and here we go road trip. Those are
he just played. They just played the first two games

(30:49):
of a seven game trip. So Philly, Orlando, Charlotte, Cleveland,
Lakers coming up.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Wow, And I'll just say before we move on for
another round of winners, the Celtics backcourt is finally starting
breakout of their shooting slump here and Boston's won three
or four games. Their offensive rating is top ten in
the league. But Prichard and Derek White, they remembered how
to shoot in October, Pritchard shot seventeen point four percent
from deep, which seems like a typo guy was a

(31:16):
forty one percent three point shooter last year. Derek White
was nearly as bad. He shot like twenty five percent
in October. That's down from thirty eight percent last year. Well,
on Wednesday, when the Celtics beat the Grizzlies, those guys
combined eight for sixteen from deep. That's good. Sunday afternoon,
White four of eight and then Pritchard eight of thirteen.
It was just a matter of time for those guys

(31:36):
started hitting some shots, and so this is why it's
helping them, you know, squeak out these wins. Here with
Jayleen Brown having a game where he had to shoot
a ton too, he was one of those guys yesterday.
It took a ton of attempts. But those guys coming
around hit some threes. That's obviously Missoula ball.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Yeah, the Boston media mafia has infiltrated my brain with
the fact that these Celtics are a top ten net
rating team and they're kind of just getting unlucky. Like
they've lot three games to the seventy six ers by
a total of I think four points. You flip two
of those results, they're nine to five and they look
pretty good.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
Right, seven and seven currently?

Speaker 2 (32:10):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (32:10):
Yeah. Just note on the Clippers Lakers. Their next NBA
Cup game, which is a Tuesday before Thanksgiving. It's two
two to oh teams going up against each other in
the NBA Cup Battle. The winner of that basically advances
probably winning it. Yeah, that's a pretty good game. Even
though the Clippers stink the somehow, two of their four
wins have been NBA Cup games. They're good at NBA

(32:32):
Cup favor.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
That's right, that's right. Let's do another quick round here
of winners.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
So you got I got those Lakers. They got a
man fired. Basically, they beat the Pelicans, then he gets
fired immediately. Not because of that, but they had a
back back this weekend. They beat the Pelicans. All good.
DeAndre Eton twenty and sixteen. Hello, he's playing so well.
Reeves thirty one points, more importantly, thirteen free throws. Doncic
twenty four points, more importantly, thirteen free throws. So all

(32:58):
that good. Let's see how they play in mill on
the second half of back to back. It played great.

Speaker 1 (33:03):
The second quarter was nice.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, the first half they held the Bucks to only
thirty four points, so an incredible start. Deandrayden again a
twenty and ten. He got blocked by Jannistata Koopa. Wasn't
quite a twenty twenty one Finals game four block. It
wasn't even a speaking of NBA Cup, it wasn't even
a twenty twenty four NBA Cup Yiannie's block. It wasn't Deandraton,

(33:26):
but he had an eight and like block. We were
sitting right in front of it when he did it
to Clint Capella. But how do they do it? I
just wanted watching this Lakers team. We questioned their depth.
They started Brownie James, then Maxi Cleeve was back playing
minutes off the bench. They're going so deep. Luca dropped
forty one. All that to say, they're seven and two
away from home, very very good start, kind of like

(33:48):
the Hawk's not an incredibly tough road trip or who cares.
They're ten and four with Luca missing four games, Reves
missing three games on Lebron missing all of them, but
he is back to practicing and will likely be back
Tuesday against the Jazz, especially because it's the Jazz, he
doesn't have to even play that hard, I guess, but
because they've played fourteen games, they have a light week.

(34:08):
It's the Jazz twice and that's it. So he'll play
in both of them, and just the heck of a
start for this depth of this team.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
They did a really good job to go ten and
four without Lebron. I think seven and seven would have
been rejoicing, so to play that well against it at
a pretty easy schedule. Like I think mcmanamon's always talking
about on the Hoop collective, the Lakers schedule is easy
the first half of the year because they want to
backload big time matchups after the NFL season has ended up,

(34:36):
so things get tougher for the Lakers.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
But still ten to four with.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Lebron being out, Luca missed time, Reeves has missed time.
They know what they're doing. They can put anybody in.
They're going to score twenty points. It feels like they
had Nick Smith Junior go for a twenty point game.
They've had what six different guys score twenty or more.
JJ knows how to coach. DeAndre went twenty for twenty
four from the field over the weekend. Yeah, he's shooting
sixty nine percent this season. Remember when people always complained

(35:02):
about him taking long twos. He's taken seven this season.
He's doing exactly what the Lakers asked for him. And
now Luca knows how to play with them. They're getting better. Yeah,
Lebron comes back and they're getting Lebron back.

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Don't mess it up.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
So Lebron's going to take his son's starting spot. Wow,
it'd be awkward over Thanksgiving. He took my spot.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Oh yeah, Lebron. That was his only start I think
of his career.

Speaker 4 (35:31):
I think he started the very last game of the season,
the Lakers Sneaky sneaky, first win as a starter, though
he didn't play that much. No, he didn't score, he
didn't shoot. I think he pulled for not shooting. But
he did start.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Yeah, win, and JJ shows the coaching that he has,
that he can pull a guy even though he's the
son of a freaking legend on the same team. You're
gonna play who can actually score, and they did a
great job. He has a DeAndre and this it's pretty phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
We'll have we'll have more on that Lakers Bucks game
in Worst of the Week or excuse me, an hours
a week, although it could be in the losers of
the weekend, Trey one more winner from you.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
Oh the Canipple family. I love these guys.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
On Friday night, kN K Nipple played his first NBA
game in his hometown of Milwaukee, and literally his parents
had the team over for dinner like a high school team.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
Carbo loading the day.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Before, took a bus, a charter bus just down the
street to Kank Nipple's childhood home where his parents served
Fahidas in the basement. So fun to see actual NBA
players hanging out with Kank Nipple and all of his
k named brothers. Cajer Cager is getting some d one offers.

(36:48):
I saw, damn I bet yeah, Oh yeah, I bet
they're all good. Oh yeah, I assume so yeah, But
I like I love you can see like a bowl
of chips and salsa on the table. They have great
value water bottles from Walmart. They're just giving you Walmart water.
Can just imagine having LaMelo Ball and Mason Plumley in
your house.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Yeah, larious, it's a great photo we're showing everybody on
YouTube podcast listeners. So funny out the photo of the
team in the basement.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
I love how they're so close to the basement ceiling too.
It's just a regular base, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
Just a regular old basement.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
But apparently about two thousand people came out to see
Con play against the Bucks, and he had his best
game of his career thirty two points, four threes, including
one to tie the game with ninety seconds left, and
then had another to send the game to overtime with
twenty one seconds left. They lost and overtime the Hornets did,
but that's an awesome night for Kanka Nipple and the

(37:43):
rest of his family. Hornets then lost again to Okay.
See the next night, Con was in a straight jacket.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
You could outscore a little tougher against OKAC. But their
orange uniforms look cool.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Yeah on their weird court. Yeah, you had to like
do it like who's playing the role play. But it
looked awesome, I think, And part of it looked awesome
because I don't know, I was like it almost felt
like the thunder Court because of the blues and stuff
like that. But that was We had some nice city
edition courts. Actually, I like the Pelicans. I like the Skeleton,

(38:14):
I'm a fan of that. The purple and the neon,
I like that.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
That looked But some.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Other winners just briefly here Darvin Ham and Torrian Prince.
They're still undefeated in NBA Cup play three years running. Baby,
they're sixteen in oh because the Bucks won again on
Friday night, Princeton play. Darvin Ham doesn't play, he's an
assistant coach. But it doesn't matter. This is nuts at
this point. They're just handed down the know how exactly.

(38:41):
Love to the Pistons and the Nuggets, extending their win
streaks to nine and seven games, respectively. I mean Pistons
were playing without any of their main guys, still got
a w so they're rolling. I think they play the
Hawks right coming up.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Here tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Tomorrow night could be a good game. And then Tass,
you're nut Us Bowl team. The Brooklyn Nets defeated Trey's
Nut Dust Bowl Washington Wizards on Sunday. YEP, that's a
big game, huge game in the Nut Dust Bowl game.
Tray is his. Washington Wizards are one and twelve. Apparently
they had a player's only meeting.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
It's gonna turn around.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
I have the Pacers. I don't know if you heard
the breaking news, so I now have the Pacers. We
all have Eastern Conference teams I'm one and twelve, but
you take an early lead. Here, you're two and eleven
with your Brooklyn Nets.

Speaker 3 (39:29):
It is amazing that we have three Eastern Conference teams
in that nut Dust Bowl. That's how bad it is
at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Yeah, the Brooklyn
Nets got their second win only because they're playing another
Nut Dust Bowl team and the Washington Wizards. Yeah, they
were all one for now there's one with two. But yeah,
it is. It's a shame for the Pacers. They get

(39:49):
TJ McConnell back. Think, I think, yeah, the motors coming
back for this team, being that TJ is back. He's
back now played three games, but then Aaron Smith goes
out for a month, so.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
I think Benedict Cathrine might be back pretty soon. They could.
They need all the guys they can get back. I
think he's well, just keep him out. They traded for
their pick, Yeah, like that was smart. They're gonna get a.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Great lottery pick and then Tyrese Haliburt back next year.
Bad year for the Pacers. It's gonna be a good result. Yeah, Yeah,
that's a good I don't need to try and win
games now it's over.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Yeah, bro, I need a couple of wins because now
I have the Jazz.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
That was a great pick.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
I fell into it too, but I got the Pacers.
Now I think this makes it more exciting.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
Yeah it does.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
I do want to see if there could be three
teams in the Eastern Conference that are actually worse than
every other team in the Western Conference. Worse than every
team in the Western Conference.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
It's tough because they got to play each other eventually,
the Eastern Conference. Yeah, win like we just saw on Sunday,
and that's a little bit.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
All right.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
Those are our winners of the weekend. Obviously left a
lot of meat on the bone. Let us know in
the stream, team, let us know in the YouTube comments,

Hit the light that hit the very solid dumb yeah, man, Yeah,
you gotta, we gotta like pull on their heartstrings to

(43:07):
get likes and just let me cook. Let me cook.
He's dying over there, he's on his deathbed.

Speaker 4 (43:14):
We have the light buttons set up to an IVY click.
It's you'll hear him start getting better the more you
hit like button or subscribe or five star ratings in reviews.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
I think we could put a montage together every year.
JD seems to get sick. I think once once a
year we hear that, We hear the coughs. That's not
too bad though. Yeah, your MIC's not on though, so
I don't think the people out there are hearing it,
so right, isn't it? Well? Nowadays, no dings coughs, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you're good.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
Hit the cough button.

Speaker 3 (43:45):
Nice, You're no Dominique Wilkins who coughs during Hawks broadcast
all the time, as we did in what episode? But
I don't know, I don't know, I don't Know's not
he just hacks it. That's a big hack.

Speaker 1 (44:01):
Okay, let's let's do a round of NBA weekend losers. Trey,
We're gonna start with you here.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Medieval Times is a loser.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
Interesting.

Speaker 4 (44:11):
The Wizards and the Kings, ah both loss touched on.
The Wizards got smoked by the Nets and their most
winnable game coming into one win teams and Michael.

Speaker 2 (44:21):
Porter Junior put it on them.

Speaker 4 (44:23):
Thirty four points, nine rebounds, seven assists for Michael Porter Junior.

Speaker 2 (44:28):
He had seven assists in back to back games.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Wow, both his career high highest guys hurt me.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Yeah, but not marketing numbers.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
Also got worked by Tyrese Martin in that game, like
he looked like he was maybe the best player on
the court for a chunk of time and it all
came in the Wizards wearing their gold jerseys, so city
editions tough one for Washington.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
I was watching a lot of this. This is the
game we joked about flag up to the Washington to
watch it. I was like, you imagine we were there
right now.

Speaker 4 (45:00):
I guess it was somewhat entertaining it. Well, yeah it
was entertaining. Yeah that wasn't that entertaining? Point blowout for
the Nets. Yeah, that's a pretty wild But maybe they're
feeling better than the Sacramento Kings. Are six straight losses
for the Kings, including two brutal ones. I thought over
the weekend. On Friday against Minnesota, it was a one
point game hanging into the fourth quarter, and the Kings

(45:21):
gave up eleven to two and sixteen to two runs
in the fourth quarter. Somehow turned into a blowout with
Wolves starters on the bench laughing, that's an airball from
Leonard Miller turned into a triple double for Russell westbow
right right. This went from a competitive game to laughing
about what was happening on the court that quickly. On
Sunday against the Spurs, no Victor Webbin Yama, the Kings

(45:43):
got up four to two and then didn't lead the
rest of the game. To make matters worse, Darren Fox
lit them up season high twenty eight for Fox, the
guy he was traded for. Zach Lavine benched in the
fourth quarter for Malik Monk. Doug's trying to figure out
how to get a line with this King's team. Dennis shrewder,

(46:05):
He's not starting anymore. Russell Westbrook seems entrenched there. Kean
Ellis got a star for presses. A chewa Atua came
in questionable, had started after being signed literally off the
scrap peeve they need anybody with some size. But it
feels like the Kings are just waiting until trade season
opens because nobody is happy on this team right now.

Speaker 3 (46:27):
No.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
I was gonna ask you, like, is Doug Christy going
to be the next head coach fired here? Or is
he like safe because he's coming out and saying, Hey,
Kings fans, stick with us here, just wait until the deadline,
basically when we can try and trade some of these
guys and it's gonna be a bumpy patch, but stick
with you. I don't know, I like, you never know
with the King's ownership, like I could decide, ah, yeah,

(46:48):
fire him, try somebody else. So they usually do that.
But would it change anything. No, not with this current roster.

Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yeah, it just seems like they have to make a
roster move, so that could happened before firing Doug Christie
Doug Dale Christie.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Uh Dale Douglas.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
Yeah, the way he is open to the media saying
my team stinks and I'm trying to get it out
of them, and putting ke On Allison into the starting
lineup could do that. Fans have been asking for it
because he's key on Elise. They've been wanting him out
there to play harder because that's what he does. Yeah,
Doug does not have his buttons on this team or

(47:29):
is you know, finger on the on the pulse of
this team, I should.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
Say, because there's no heartbeat. Yeah, he might have his
fingers on it, but flatlined.

Speaker 4 (47:39):
Yeah, he called out the team and it's like I
could mean, I could do better. They gave him an eye,
could do better if I put on the jersey, let's
see it. I would like to see it. But it's like, literally,
what is the solution? A lot of Kings fans think
bench de Rosen. Okay, I mean maybe that helps because
the bonus seems pretty pissed off with the way things

(48:00):
knowing he's not being used nearly the same way he
was like the fulcrum of the Mike Brown attack playing
at the elbows as a dribble handoff guy. Now it's
like he sets a screen and if he doesn't get
the ball back, he ain't gonna see the ball the
rest of the possession.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
And I don't know.

Speaker 4 (48:15):
None of these guys I think have very much trade value,
So I don't know if Benching DeRozan is smart, since
he seems like a guy that a cut tender would
maybe take a chance on. But you would also probably
like to see DeRozan as a sixth man at this
point in his career. All I know is that DeRozan, Levine,
Sabonis it doesn't work, just like DeRozan, Levine and Vujovic
it didn't work.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
Yeah, and Levine especially, like do they ever? I know,
once in a blue moon they do, but like they
never have good games. At the same time, if Deroze
has a good game, it's like a crappy Levine game.
If Lavine has a decent game, it's usually a pretty
quiet Drosian game. Feels like that. So he can fact
check me on that at least recently. Yes, it's just
too much overlap. You don't need both of them. They're

(48:57):
not going to stop anybody either.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
I guess the hope that they have going for them
is that when Keegan Murray comes back Theird he could
get better, but they immediately will trade. It feels like
one of those two that you just mentioned, because you're
not really getting a lot for the the overlap that
you have at guard. They have too many with Monk
shrewder Westbrook and then you can go deeper. So it's

(49:21):
likely one of those guys who's has some good games.
DeRozan just had a good one. They do have good
scoring games, but they need to change that chemistry, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
Who do you have for a weekend loser.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
Well, that is a jerk move for sure, because Danny
Avdia I just having a good season. That being set
the way he closed out against the Dallas Mavericks not
so good. They're tied at the end of the fourth,
thirty five seconds left, Danny gets the opportunity to hit
a game winner. He got so much room, so much
space on a nineteen footer open range, but from a

(50:00):
side angle, I didn't even know where it hit. It
was almost an airball, but I think you got a
bit of a front rim looking at it. So he
misses that one. Then after Dallas misses, Thiago Splitter says
we're going for it here no time out. Denny gets
another chance, this time a three pointer that missed. Even worse,
two bad misses. He fouls out in overtime after and

(50:22):
then the Blazers end up losing. But why I'm really
concerned besides those two shots, because he has had a
good season. While he's sitting there on the sideline, he
pops what appears to me to be a yellow starburst.
A yellow starburst. You're an NBA superstar, of all the colors, yeah,
pick yellow?

Speaker 1 (50:41):
You think that's the worst.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
It's one of those that it's at the bottom. It's
so far at the bottom, whether it's orange or yellow
or those at the bottom too. Yeah, it ain't pink.
You're a superstar, just have a pink.

Speaker 4 (50:56):
You think he should have the leeway on this team
to say give me the pink.

Speaker 3 (51:01):
Yeah, well, I think as an NBA superstar, maybe this
is me just being naives. I think you could just
literally just never even look at the yellow green or red.
Have like a ball, pull them yellow, orange, red, you
just never have never. It's just so when you grab one,
you know what you're grabbing. Am I wrong? In terms
of the rankings?

Speaker 2 (51:20):
I think so pink and red or superior to orange
and yellow.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
For me? How many colors are there?

Speaker 3 (51:26):
Just four standard pink, red, so you're you're strawberry, cherry,
and then orange and lemon.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
I don't think I dislike a yellow.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
One's fine.

Speaker 4 (51:38):
I would imagine I would give you a decent little
energy boost.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
I guess. I guess that's why he wanted it, being
that he had a poor ending to that game, because
he's freaking good. But I wonder if he's happy after
the yellow fine.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Maybe I'd like to give a loser of the weekend
to NBA referee Pat Frerer. Who's that? Let me explain.
This guy tried to prevent Lakers players from securing a
game ball to present to their rookie after he scored
his first NBA points. This was a Saturday's game, so
Lakers rookie do thero scored his first four points. He

(52:19):
had a huge dunk too, in the final minute of
LA's win in Milwaukee, so teammate, and we have a
photo here Jared Vanderbilt. He grabs the ball after the game,
but NBA referee Pat Frerer, that's not Scott Foster. It
looks like it from behind, but that's not Scott Foster.
He approached the Lakers, He approached Vanderbilt and like this
was like a screen grab here, we're showing you this lasted.

(52:39):
It basically looked like this for like a minute straight
of Vanderbilt like holding onto it but Pat wanting it
and Luca going what, Jake Larevia going what? And in
the end, Pat takes the ball away and hands it
over to a Bucks team attendant who then more Lakers
players go up and like, hey, can we not have
that ball? What is going on here? Like the Rooks

(53:02):
scored his first points, this is sort of what we
do now, and noticing the commotion if you want to
call it that sort of a center court, Jannis intervenes,
you know what's going on here? He comes over, finds
out why they want the ball? Oh yeah, He takes
the ball from the team attendant. He hands it to
Luca Doncica. Thanks you honest. We can get this to

(53:22):
Ado and uh and we go on from there, which
is it's amazing that it was Yannis ultimately giving the
game ball because of what happened. What was that I
means two years ago, No, two years six seasons ago. Yeah,
where we had the battle between the Pacers and the
Bucks over a game ball. Jan has scored a career
high what was name Oscar rookie, he had his first

(53:44):
points and there was the fighting over the ball.

Speaker 4 (53:46):
Anyway, but you remember why Yanni said he took that
game ball because Damian Lillard passed Kyle Korver on the
that it wasn't for his career, Yes, not for that.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
There's obviously there's a ranking or an order of the
importance who gets the game ball. Uh, he thought it
was Dame maybe then himself and then a rookie. But
in this one there was no notable milestone for the
Bucks said it's all yours kid, take it away, Take
it away. But very funny, like the referee in Pat Freyer,

(54:18):
he'll be like, no.

Speaker 4 (54:19):
Yeah, didn't Jared take it? Didn't Jared Vanderbilt say that?
Freyer said, it's not I'm not allowed to give to
give it away.

Speaker 1 (54:26):
Yeah, that's what he said. I have to keep this
and then he like said like, hey, if you keep
holding onto this and walk away with it, I'm like,
I guess I don't know what he's gonna do, like
find you or the NBA find you or something.

Speaker 3 (54:36):
But he was like, yeah, whatever, But funny moment, very funny.
What are you doing, pat, and just give him the ball?
There's lots to go around.

Speaker 1 (54:47):
Why does he care? Why does he care? Yeah, that's
the weirdest part. The like Bucks team attendant, you could
at least understand why she would care more. It's like, no,
we only got we can't give him away. Like that
makes a little bit more sense. But yeah, why does
the referee give a dale who cares? It's like you
just get out of their pat, go have a beer man,

(55:09):
go sleep somewhere.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
Do they have to have balls that have been worked
on they can't have new balls?

Speaker 1 (55:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (55:18):
Definitely a new ball is the worst.

Speaker 3 (55:21):
Terrible Yeah, horrible, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:23):
Especially an NBA one.

Speaker 3 (55:24):
Yeah, so I guess maybe that's part of him, but
so funny. I hope Oscar she boy has his on
a display somewhere somewhere needs to be done.

Speaker 4 (55:32):
Well.

Speaker 1 (55:32):
Who ended up getting it though? Did they ever get
the pacers? Never got it back, did they did? They
give them one? And the there was like.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
A conspiracy that Yeah, for sure, it's something weird happened
with that, but uh, because that went into the hallways,
that went Yeah, that was.

Speaker 1 (55:48):
A heated confrontation a couple of years ago between those
twoo there's like that photo of Yann it's like yelling,
He's like pointing, Yeah this one honest, like, I got
you guys, no problem.

Speaker 2 (55:57):
Almost is the keeper of the game ball know knows
what it is.

Speaker 1 (56:02):
Yeah, it's turning into Chris Paul, all those rules about
Jersey tuck in, what you can and can't do and
all that. So that was a fun loser of the
weekend to that referee, but a small, tiny potential loser
of the weekend to the Houston Rockets, not for anything
that happened on the court. But I'm watching that Magic
Rockets game on Sunday. I'm enjoying it. I'm locked in

(56:24):
on League Pass. And they went and showed their banners
hanging up in their arena. So you see the World
championship banners there, and then you see the division champions
and then you see the conference championship banner there on
the side, and I'm looking at that, going, what the
hell's going on here? Where's the dashes?

Speaker 2 (56:45):
What happened to this banner?

Speaker 1 (56:47):
So it's like, you know the numbers there, nineteen eighty
to eighty one. That was when that's the season they're
a conference champion, eighty five eighty sixty five. But it
was so confusing at first of what's going on here?
What happened to the dashes on that conference championship banner?
In Houston?

Speaker 2 (57:04):
You're like, Dyson Daniels, where's dash? That's the offer? Man,
I don't know where the dash is? Weird put a
dash on there?

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (57:14):
I like at first I thought, yeah, is the flag
folded in such a way that we just can't see it?
But I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (57:20):
It's like a straight border on the box because look.

Speaker 1 (57:22):
At the gap between the two years. It's very similar
to the Division champions one. I don't have I need
somebody to research this in the Houston media. What's going on?
Why are those dashes gone? Where I stole them? It's
like the hamburglar got them or something.

Speaker 3 (57:38):
Those have been up for that's been up for literally
like thirty years.

Speaker 1 (57:41):
Well that's the other part.

Speaker 3 (57:42):
Yeah, Well, somebody's got to know, that's my point. Somebody
has has to have asked that over the last thirty years.

Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yeah, please find out that was really bugging what's strange?

Speaker 3 (57:54):
Yeah yeah, all.

Speaker 1 (57:56):
Right, those are our winners and losers. We could go
into a bunch of losers being up of injuries. There's
so many injuries right now, which really sucks. Like OG's
out for a couple of weeks now, Tarry Easton is
out four to six weeks. John Morant exited another game,
or I mean he missed the game. Then he exited
the game after playing like six or seven minutes with
a right calf soreness. I'm probably missing another couple as well.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
Yeah, Nie smithout a month.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
Yeah yeah, yeah, there's somebody else of note. Obviously Brunson
is missing time here. But anyway, that just always sucks.
You can always put that into a loser of the weekend,
the latest injuries. But let's get to tonight's pick them game.
Because you're oh to ten, we are more than halfway
through the month. You have still not got a win.

Speaker 3 (58:37):
Never in the history of no dunks slashed the starter
slash the basketball Jones, is anyone skunked a month.

Speaker 1 (58:43):
I don't know, there's not even a chance.

Speaker 3 (58:46):
Yeah. I sometimes bring it up to Danielle. We have
the discussion, Oh, what's the thing you're going to have
to do at the end of this month if you lose?
And I told her, if I skunk this whole month,
the other guys are going to have to do something
terrible like shave of goatee. And she was impressed. She's
been more impressed having that discussion than any other discussion

(59:07):
about winning this So I think that the Denver Nuggets
are going to take care of the Chicago Bulls tonight,
who run a back to back going from Utah to Denver. Well,
that's tough, that's tough. Yeah. So Denver is favored by
twelve and a half. That's why I'm taking the Bulls
to cover. And Trey's along with me for the riots.
He's got Denver. So you do think that the Bulls

(59:29):
will cover?

Speaker 2 (59:30):
Yes, No, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (59:31):
I don't I was happy when you made the selection.

Speaker 4 (59:34):
I said I would take the Thunder as million point
favorites and this is about as clothes as that could
possibly get.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
Balls are on a five game losing streak. Yeah, they
played double ot last night. Yeah, yep, this is the
hardest back to back in the league.

Speaker 1 (59:47):
Is well to Denver? Well Ky White play Maybe not, well,
he just came back. Maybe he doesn't. I'm just saying
tass is on a massive losing streak. The line has
moved since. Yeah it's.

Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
And a half.

Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
I saw fourteen and a half, or yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
I saw I saw fourteen this morning, but it could
have changed in the past hour.

Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Yeah, that's why I'm I benefit from being able to
pick the game now because I just picked the one
that I think. Come on the Bulls in a very
tough situation. Denver's Roland. Obviously, they've won seven games in
a row, doing well. With Christian Brown out, Peyton Watson
coming in. He knows how to cut like Christian Brown.
So they look good.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
So you're saying, I want to know when in the
streak did you purposely start like basically fading your own
you know what I.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Mean, Like you're trying to keep the loom time last
week like halfway service.

Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
That's what I thought this summer there, I mean, you're good.

Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
This isn't the first one I felt like you did
it on purpose?

Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Oh really?

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Yep, No, No, there was another one.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
The first Portland Houston on Friday. I had no problem
taking four. I knew that was going to be a spanker. Yeah,
I didn't take the Reps. I took Cleveland over the
Wraps because I knew that the Raps weren't going to
win that thing. All excuse me. I was comfortable. That
was Thursday. I was comfortable. Here we go. Last through

(01:01:10):
the last three now than the third one Dallas. Well,
I thought Dallas was gonna win. Actually, so it's only
been the last two. I took Dallas over Phoenix. That
was the first game after they had fired Nico Harrison.
They're playing a point guard again. Good for them. I
thought they were winning that game. That didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Well, scoreboard watching tonight, Denver has to win by thirteen
or more for me to get the W and obviously
for Task to keep his winless streak alive.

Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Here.

Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Yeah, I can't catch you, guys, as soon as I
win a game as boring.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
True, this is really fun. I'm enjoying how far you've
gone with this. I can't believe you've lost ten straight.
Whether you're purposely mentor or not, it doesn't mostly not
mostly I just thank you it. But it's this week
and next week and then somebody's got to have a goatee.
Could be two of us, could just be me. There's
no way to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Do and I'm fine doing it because again, your beards
are bigger and bolder, I think, and you deserve it.

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
I want, I just want you to grow yours in
a little bit more if you don't mind.

Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
When you pick up your first part.

Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Yeah, just yeah, your beard part. Yeah, to then give
us a better goat.

Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
A gotcha and you can grow like you We can
grow it.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Okay, good? Thank uh. Tonight's other games of note, I
guess Bucks Calves on Peacock is a decent one. Nick's
Heat though obviously missing a bunch of guys in that one.
And there's a bunch of like not the greatest of
looking games, but it's the NBA. You never know, never know,
you never know what's going to happen. That's it for us,
winners and losers of the NBA Weekend. Talking a little

(01:02:46):
bit about Willie Green, a whole lot about John Legend
and Niagara Falls as a city. You ever visited the Falls?
Let us know, Canadian or American side, let us know
that as well. You're a road. What's it called Maid's
Mist or something, that Maiden of the Mess made the mist. Yeah,
I've never been on that I need They been only
been once to the falls. Yeah, like it, it's pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Be A part of the reason that it's not cool
to go to is that, like neither side wants to
step on any toes.

Speaker 1 (01:03:15):
Maybe, like I can't.

Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
We can't make the American side too cool. They got
the better side of the falls.

Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
Over there right in Canada.

Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Visually.

Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Oh, you're saying Niagara Falls is the city to be kind,
it's saying we already have the cooler part of the falls. Yeah,
so we won't make our city great.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:03:35):
Wow, I thought that they want to keep the focus
on the falls.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Do you think this administration, you know, the Gulf of
America was renamed, Do you think they ever think we
should call it America Falls or more? Their side is
not as good. The American side is not as good.
I say, bag, I'm here on that side. The American
side doesn't even Compare's fair.

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
You haven't seen water fall until you've been in Canada,
let me tell you.

Speaker 3 (01:04:05):
But everybody just goes once.

Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Yeah, you go where you see it. It's cool. It's
very powerful, very powerful.

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
A lot of gallons.

Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
That's a lot of gallons. A lot of energy is produced.

Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
For remember, pick them go over the falls and a barrel.

Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
I'm in I'll be the coldest month to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:22):
I may have miss this very nice apparently though. Let's
go on it.

Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Take trip to the falls, all right, hit the like bud,
subscribe five star ratings and reviews.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
We're back tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
I think we're planning on doing some rookie rankings now
that we're one month in the perfect time to do it.
That's right, and we'll recap some of tonight's game. So
join us then at tennaster until the Clipper bros.

Speaker 2 (01:04:44):
You heard it here first, have a great time, turn up.

Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Love you guys, awesome.

Speaker 3 (01:04:48):
Thanks for joining us. And remember sometimes NBA players come
back early, like Zach Eat he came back played his
first game. He was expected to be six to nine
weeks out. Six and nine weeks. If I'm not mistaken, yeah,
and I'm yeah, it was six to nine weeks way
back when. So if i'm I may be miscalculating how
much of that was the preseason, but either way, it

(01:05:10):
seems like players are coming back earlier, and I heard
were almost a month into the season, so that's really
that's really price the day people
