Speaker 1 (00:05):
Good mornings, swearld and welcome to the Not Dunks Podcast,
presented by Fan Duel. It's Monday, November twenty fourth, twenty
twenty five on Jay Skeets. Here in the Classic Factory
and alongside me as always Tass Mellus.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Wearing a T shirt. You guys are way smarter than me.
Oh we're in long sleeve. I'm cold.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
It's a little Chillion here, no doubt. Next to him,
it's Matapsha, hot Boy, Trey Kirby, Aoau and over Yonder
making the magic happen. Super producer JD. Hello, there he is,
and here we are. Hello to everybody on YouTube, everybody
in the stream team hit the like button, subscribe podcast listeners,
five star ratings and reviews. On today's show, we will

(00:43):
share our NBA weekend winners and losers. A whole lot
of basketball to run through. But first, LA Clippers guard
Chris Paul is retiring after this season. His twenty first
NBA campaign, surefire first Ballot Hall of Famer CP three
is twelve time All Star, eleven time All NBA or,

(01:03):
a nine time All Defensive Team member, five to six
Rookie of the Year, and of course a member of
the NBA's seventy fifth Anniversary team. He also has two
gold medals with Team USA OH eight twenty twelve, but
CP three. At this point here TK is saying that's
it for me. Here's a swan song, and this will

(01:24):
be the final year. Yeah, I guess.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
He hinted at it over the summer in some interviews,
saying I'll probably only play one more year. This year
started hasn't been a great season for Chris Paul. So
the time is now and he's gonna go down in
history as one of the great point guards of all time,
reached the absolute pinnacle of point guard play, except for
ever getting a championship, unfortunately for him. But you know,

(01:48):
at worst, he's like the sixth best point guard in
NBA history. There are a few guys you definitely put
ahead of them, but you can have him up in
the top five if you want. Everybody knows, not my
cup of tea, but on denial, one of the greats
of all time.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Yeah, no doubt. I guess he makes the announcement before
they play in Charlotte, so all of his family can't
come because that's where he's from. He is definitely one
of the best. So I start thinking of all the
moments that didn't happen, Like the eighteen Western Conference Final,
he was on the Rockets. They're up three to two
on the Golden State Warriors, and he's injured, and he's
not there for Game six and seven when they're up

(02:23):
two to zero in the finals against the Milwaukee Bucks
as part of the Phoenix Suns. I just start thinking
about all the moments that he angered DeAndre Jordan and
then angered DeAndre Ayton. I guess all the Deandres don't
like him. There's so many moments, so many moments for him.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
What about the ultimate one?

Speaker 2 (02:40):
If which one.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
David starton doesn't veto the trade darl Lakers, he probably
has a championship or two. I'm just assuming that the
Lakers will make it work.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah. He's got lots of moments. He started
every game when Victor Webinyama started his rise last season,
so he's got lots of stories. I'm sure that Hall
of Fame speech will be pretty decent. He'll put some
moments together. He's kind of keeps stuff a little close
to the vest, Like we don't know a lot about
the Clippers, Like there's a lot of inflating you hear

(03:10):
those little teeny tiny stories, but hopefully just lets it
rip at the Hall of Fame speech. Just let it go, man,
it's a new world. Just do it.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
He's the NBA's active leader and assists and steal second
all time, of course to John Stockton. I'm with you, TK, though.
Whether you liked Chris Paul or didn't, he is going
down as one of the greatest floor general point guards
of all time, maybe the last of his breed too,
if we're being honest. Because the NBA started to lean
into bigger playmakers. That was the first thing. Like Chris

(03:41):
Paul is like not even six feet he's little. He's
a small guy. So we get to this thing where
there's bigger playmakers. And then the other part of the
equation is point guard's got to score now, Like they
got to be sort of lights out attack and threes
and put up twenty five. Like that's where we've gone
in the league. And that really was never Chris Paul.
I think he is sort of the last of a
dying breed of just straight up floor general and he

(04:02):
made basically every team he went to better. Yeah, you
know the Hornets where he's drafted, I haven't had a
lot of really success after he's last The Clippers were
the sorriest franchise in all of sports. Maybe made them respectable,
knocking on the door of obviously getting into you know,
some playoff success and stuff like that, or at least
reaching the playoffs or crying out loud. So he's just he's,

(04:24):
like I think Ziller put it like this, he's like
the ultimate winner with never having won a title because
he won a lot of games and helped a lot
of franchises just get better. And guys like you said
the impact on SGA just being with the Thunder for
one year. Maybe Wemby, we see that payoff. So yeah,
he just could never get over the hump and get
the ring. I don't think it's happening this year. Well

(04:45):
I would quite the comeback from the Clippers if they
pull it up.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Yeah, yeah, I do ask how much of the timing
of this announcement is for the other teams who may
be good and maybe just want somebody off the bench
as a old vet just to help out a little bit,
just to be around.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
To get played.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, exactly, because you know you can say if I
go to let's say Minnesota Timberwolves, and I can come
off the bench there. Everybody's going to play for me.
It's my retirement year, so I'll give everybody a little
bit more motivation in that regard. I wonder it's probably
just his last year. It's probably not because he needs
to go somewhere. It's probably because he's literally playing in

(05:24):
Charlotte where a lot of his family's from the night before,
but he literally makes it that day. Yeah, I guess
it has to be that. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
I mean, if he wanted to ring Chase, he really
could have done it. Over the summer. He signed for
a tiny, tiny contract and he went to the place
where he's most associated with, the Clippers to retire with
the Clippers. I do believe he also can't go to
any team that has a number three because he's only
one number three throughout his entire career. You don't see
that with a lot of these guys that play for
a lot of franchises a lot of seasons. But you
go to his basketball reference, he wore three for the

(05:57):
Hornets in three different cities.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Pretty impressive. Geez, Yeah, two different cities Charlotte and New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
No North Carolina. Yeah, did he play Charlotte? He never
played New Orleans in Oklahoma City?

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, so that's a few.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Was he number three?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Four?

Speaker 1 (06:12):
Tam U s a? What did he wear the check?
That one? I don't know the on tm U s A.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
No, No, I do not. That's not his. It's not
his thing. You don't think of memory number. Anyways. We
will see if the Clippers can somehow find their way.
But if there is another team out there, pick them out,
just help us out on the bench a little bit.
I bring up the timber Wolves because if there is
one who needs a little bit of garb play off

(06:42):
the bench, it would be them. But I doubt he's
traded period. I mean he signed there. Yeah, that's my
old team. But also he thought they're gonna win. Well yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Think it's a combo. I'm retiring as a Clipper slash
ring chack.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Yeah, but no good, it ain't working it so far.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
No.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Two more thoughts. Is Chris Paul the greatest player listed
six feet in under to ever play in the NBA.
And I'll give you the only other guys that are
probably on the list. It's Alan Iverson, Calvin Murphy and
then it's like, you know, then you sort of maybe
go a level down, Tim Hardaway, Kyle Lowry, Mark Price,
Kemball Walker because a lot of these guys, the small guys,

(07:24):
there's six to one at least Stockton, Isaiah Thomas, Kozy,
Lenny Wilkins, no Mo Cheeks like there are a lot
of them are not six and under. Now I know
that it's all fudge, they're all small toy, but it's
very possible it's really Chris Paul or Iverson, And I
think it's what you're getting at. And uh, I think
overall totality of a career, I think it's Chris Paul,
even though same with Iverson, you never got a ring,

(07:46):
either got an MVP, though he did he did. My
other question was if the Naysmith Basketball Memorial excuse me,
the Naysmith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame was like baseball
and players had to select which team they wanted to
represent in the Hall. Which Jersey would Chris Paul go in?
As it's between two teams, it's between the Hornets and

(08:08):
the Clippers. He played for a lot of teams after that,
but it's pretty wild when you look at their stats
over the six years. I'm not counting like the him
going back to La here, but six years with the
Hornets he averaged eighteen point seven points per game, nine
point nine assists, four point six rebounds, two point four steals,
shot forty seven percent. With the Clippers, that six year
stint eighteen point eight points per game, nine point nine

(08:30):
assists per game, four point one rebounds, two point three steals,
shot forty seven point four percent. They're near identical. Has
a lot of accolades with both teams. Which one do
you think or will you remember the most of Chris
Paul If again, if he went in as a Jersey.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
That's a good one. There's no doubt I remember him
as a Clipper. That being said, I don't know. It's
all how he takes it, because he was ascending when
he was young, and he was second in MVP voting.
He was really really close with the member of New
Orleans and that was sort of a different part of
his career, and they took the Spurs to Game seven
of the second round. I remember as a Clipper, okay,

(09:06):
but maybe his heart remembers him as a New Orleans Okay, seer,
whatever you call it.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
That's Clippers for sure.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Yeah, I don't even think the Hornets factors into the discussion.
He was one of the premier players in the NBA
playing with the Lob City Clippers, a team that had
a lot of buzz, that was really good and just
fell short in the playoffs time and time again. I
think you think of him as a Clipper and maybe
even a Rocket before you think of him as a Hornet.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Really. Yeah, he was closest to winning a championship.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
With the Rockets.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
He was, but he won Rookie of the Year with
the Hornets, of course. First year, four time All Star,
three time All NBA, made three All Defensive teams, finished
top five in MVP voting twice. Like you said, runner
up close and what is third season in the league,
But Clippers that first stint twenty eleven to twenty seventeen,
five time All Star, five time All NBA, six All
Defensive first team selections, and he also finished top five

(09:58):
in MVP voting twice. Not runner up, but he was,
you know, sort of at the bottom of the ballot
there in terms of a top five. So yeah, I'm
with you, Clippers, but I think there's a small case
for New Orleans and uh yeah, the Rockets, man, he
was close. They were close. They just went over twenty
seven in a very important game from deep.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
They were the second best team in the league, but
they were playing against the seventy three win Warriors team
a lot of the time, so that was a problem.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah. And then I tend to not remember him as
a Phoenix Sun in all honesty, but he was on
that team. Obviously, he's starting, goes to the finals. He
was super close. They're up to Zip. But it's different. Yeah,
the Houston one was even a shorter stay stint than
his Phoenix run. Phoenix was three years. It's just later.
It's just later.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Chris Ball and Trey started this all off with like,
where do you have Chris Paul as the greatest point
guard of all time? Despite never getting a ring. You said,
there's some obvious ones ahead of them.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Magic for sure, yep, Curry for sure, yep, Oscar Robinson
for sure, Isaiah Thomas for sure.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
That's four.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
John Stockton, I would say for sure he was Chris
Paul before Chris Paul went to the finals twice yep,
and still has all the records that Chris Paul is
second in so you got to put him there. For me,
Chris Paul would be number six in the range with
Jason Kidd or Steve Nash, Like, take your pick. Kid
won a championship. I think he's become underrated as a
player overtime. Steve Nash two m vps, never won a championship.
So pick your poison between Chris Paul, Jason Kids, Steve Nash.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Who you picking?

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Well? Are you don't throw Steph in that conversation?

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Number two?

Speaker 2 (11:28):
Oh? My bad? My bet?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Maybe number one if you want to make the argument
over Matt.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
It's so funny.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
I never even think of Steph Curry as a point, right,
But yeah, that's a whole other conversation.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, that's probably what happened in my head, Like you're
not putting him in the same because people don't. And
I understand that. Yeah, he's he's in that group. Yeah,
it's it's him Nash Kid in that in that exactly right.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Yeah, And I think do I think people do include
Stockton sort of maybe with that group as well. I
think Chris Paul's peak was way better than John Starkton's maybe,
So there's that if you want, if you want to
just lean into the peak like we talked about, and
maybe runner up in MVP and.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
It's close. He's a surefire Hall of Famer first ballot,
and now he's hanging it up. So I guess, well,
people start giving him a presence now and gifts when
he visits said city for the only time left in
his career.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Gotta do a video, Gotta do a video, Gotta do
a video.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
I think there'll be a lot of framed things handed
to him. He also played for like a corner of
the teams, so they got stuff and they got pack
video packages. The show we'll find out, I guess, because
we're gonna get a little bit of Chris Paul Goodbye
tour here. Let's get to some NBA weekend winners and losers. TK.

(12:45):
You start us off winners. Is that Chris Paul team? Yeah,
Phoenix Suns. There we go. Sat on Friday.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Suns are one of the biggest surprises of the year
to me, but at that time they only had one
win against the winning team. Over the weekend they got too,
including one of the craziest wins of the season on
Friday against the Timberwolves when they came back from eight
points down with fifty one seconds left to beat. Minnesota
started with a Royce O'Neil put back cuts the lead
to six. Then a nonchalant turnover by Anthony Edwards. He

(13:13):
thought this game was over and just chucks it in
easy Steele turns into a three pointer for Jordan Goodwin,
which cuts the lead to three. On the next offensive
possession for Minnesota, Julius Randall drives the lane, stripped by Goodwin,
takes it coast to coast for the layup. Now it's
a one point game. Inbound the ball to Julius Randall.
Instant panic turnover for this guy. But the Sons turned

(13:33):
the ball over immediately too, with Dylan Brooks just blasting
Julius Randall in the back, just pushes him down. Look
like maybe the game was going to be over. Then
Minnesota gets the ball into Anthony Edwards. He goes to
the free throw line, misses two free throws. Sons grabbed
the offense or grab the board. They call a timeout.
Inbound to Colin Gillespie, quick pick, he attacks Dante DiVincenzo.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
It's a tough runner.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
With about six seconds left to give the Suns the lead,
ball into Anthony Edwards, they double team him, kicks it
over to Randall klan Kruski from three pointer. It's not
often you see a comeback that fits neatly into a
YouTube short. This is the first time in three thousand
plus games a team had pulled off a comeback from
eight points down with a minute remaining. That's not super surprising,

(14:18):
but you also factor in Devin Booker was filed out
for this entire sequence.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Jalen Green wasn't playing.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
Dylan Brooks filed out on that offensive foul after the steal.
Crazy crazy comeback for the Suns. Afterwards, Brooks was pretty
happy to call out Julius Randall for a couple of
turnovers and a miss three down the stretch. These guys
are beefing. Sons also followed this up with a win
on Sunday against the Spurs. They beat San Antonio, no wemby,

(14:45):
no Castle, but a big second half for Phoenix twenty
five points for Dylan Brooks. This guy's been awesome so
harm for the Suns. He ups the compete level, which
I think is the main thing he brings. But he's
averaging twenty one points a game. I think he's like
twenty five per game over his last five games. That's
something they've needed in a big time way with Jalen
Green being on the bench for the majority of the

(15:05):
season with injuries.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Booker looks good.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
He's doing his thing, but they need somebody else who
can score, and it's been Dylan Brooks, and it's been
tasses guy Colin Gillespie.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
It was legitimately awesome right now.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
He's the new TJ McConnell because he is a white
guy and he plays very simple. Yeah, so the Sun's
awesome weekend for them. They're actually putting some wins to
the other against good teams. You'd love to see it.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Yeah, watching Colin Glesbie can help. But think about TJ
McConnell as a white guy, but also where he tries
to get to in the mid range and find space
and gets the shot up. It is a lot like
TJ McConnell as having a little bit of Chris Paul
flashes as well. I mean, that's what's the same. They
shoot from the same spots. But Colin Gillespie here played
every fourth quarter minute in this game. He was needed
with Devin Booker out and that game winner, you know

(15:51):
it wasn't a buzzer beat, but it was a game winner.
It was controlled stops on one foot. Didn't think Gillspie
had that in his game, even though last year he
had was part of a twenty three point comeback with
Kevin Durant on the Phoenix Suns and their chest bump
in he came through. He had ten points in that
fourth quarter. He does the small things that you can't help.
But think that TJ McConnell was just that little guy

(16:13):
is he listed at six foot under, He's a little there,
he's close. He helps man that team obviously overachieving and
Dalen Brooks is a huge part of that.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Oh yeah, and that was a big Cup win too
against the Wolves on Friday night because the Suns are
two and oh the Thunder or two and oh in
that West group A. So that was the wolves first loss.
They've played three games, so they're two and one the
Thunder and Suns. If they both win on Wednesday, that's
going to set up a pretty epic showdown on Friday
night with the group on the line. Because next week,

(16:48):
or really I should say this week, there's a whole
lot of Cup games here this week as we start
and figure out who's going to the knockout stage. So yeah,
the Suns, man, they play hard. It's like night and
day difference from last year, like the bad vibes with
that team. Yeah, so this year and a lot of
it's like the new additions that they brought in.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
For sure, Dylan Brooks is a good vibes guy, not
if you're playing against him, so maybe it wears on
you eventually. That's what happened in Memphis for sure. I
think that didn't happen in Houston. He was a nice
fit with Udoka, really helped turn the Rockets around, same
thing he did with the Grizzlies. He raises your compete
level and he makes you care.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
He gives a shit exactly right.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
And so now you got Colin Gillespie being compared to
Dylan Brooks.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
I think they call him Villain Junior.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
And then he's like, actually, Jordan Goodwin is a lot
like Devin or Dylan Brooks as well. So they're just
gonna compare every single guy to Dylan Dylan Brooks. Dylan Brooks.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Wow, that's a that's a.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Scary team to imagine, but pretty impressive. And you know too,
and oh In Devin Booker's new shoes, and they got
this kid eating popcorn.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
They brought into the game and they won for him
as well. They got the orange floor. Things are perfect.
His name Spencer is that his name was with an s? Yeah, Sterling, Sterling,
I think it's Sterling.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Yeah, he had like he had a grown man's name.
Oh yeah, and a grown man reaction. Totally normal.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Why not winks at the camera. He's awesome. Yeah, he's
got it all. Yeah. I don't know where Dylan Brooks
moment of realization that he can be a really good
basketball player camp. Like, was it when Memphis said we're
cutting you where you're not coming back? Was it just
did a click or was it just playing under emil
A Dooka? But the guy looks totally different. I don't
know if it was the Udoka connection, but here he

(18:36):
is man. He can still score and.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Especially with Canada basketball. Yeah, he had some monster games
and for Canada basketball as a scorer, as a go
to guy.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
He beats a once in the tournament, that doesn't matter.
You remember seeing job thirty plus game. Yeah, he's going
to get in a fight tonight, guaranteed. You think so,
they're playing the Rockets. That's a team that loves to
mix it up. It's his old team. You know, he's
going to be John. Yeah, he'll probably be tossed. Yeah.
I don't know what the fan duel odds are on
Dylan Brooks getting at least one technical or flagrant one,
but it's gotta be.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Like minus probably it's a good bet.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
All right. The Suns get us started here. Who do
you have for a winner of the weekend.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Let's go with the Miami Heat because they won two
games this weekend. They've won four straight. They beat the
Bulls on Friday. They're the top two paces in the NBA.
So you get ready for that game. You think, all right,
here come the points, and they did come, but it
was close after the first quarter, and then the Heat
defense got going and their offense just kept going. They
score one hundred and forty three points on the Bulls.

(19:36):
No one exceeded twenty points on their roster. Everybody doing
it by committee. That eight guys in double did it's
nine players with nine or more. Pelly Larson is the
connector on that team. With Andrew Wiggins down, he was
the guy just setting up here. You go, norm here,
you go Khalil, where here you go? Drew Smith, Pelly Larson.
It got bad for the Bulls. He even threw down

(19:57):
a windmill. I didn't know how Larsen could do that,
but he threw one down. They win one hundred and
forty three points. Then they go on to face Yeah, yeah,
I got bad.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
You got to run up the score. You got to
Those are cup point differentials.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
How do we like the Bulls cup court?

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Uh boring? Yeah, sorry, I'm not a great guy.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Yeah for courts.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
We see it. We see him every night, so it's
not special. They didn't They didn't work hard on that court.
I'll tell you, yeah, they did not work hard. Tuned
to Losers of the Weekend.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yeah, it's almost veering white. It's so light gray.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
It's like it's very light.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
Yeah, super light. Anyway, then they go beat the Philadelphia
seventy six ers in a game between two teams. We're
all wondering which tier are they in in the Eastern Conference?
And they looked awesome. Norm was the guy thirty two
points Heimahawks coming off the bench. Different guy this year
in year number three for him, you don't have to

(20:51):
shoot threes a lot of the hey get downhill Man
and then you know, do do what you have to
do to turn in get into it. He's got a
nice d cell going on twenty two points for him
and Khalil where had twenty, so a little bit more
of a hierarchy in that game as opposed to the

(21:11):
Bulls game. So they beat the Suns, excuse me, the
sixers was an impressive win. And now they get their
best player from last year coming back tonight. Tyler Hero
is officially back tonight making his debut. So now it's
like a data collection time for the Miami Heat. What
do we have here? Let's figure this out because there's

(21:32):
all the talk of the Miami Heat, you know, maybe
going to get a superstar like a Ja Morant or
there's been a little LaMelo ball dabble or somebody like
in that realm. Because they have so many of these
guys as I mentioned, that are good, but they don't
have an incredible offense. They're just middle of the pack offensively.
They do need a guy who can't create. So they're

(21:53):
going to see what they have with Tyler Hero and
then they'll see if they have to because again with
all the the elements that they have they can make
a trade for a superstar, so we will see. This
is a fun era for the Miami Heat. I think they're.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Superstar right now though, is Norman Palum. It's amazing. I
don't think a lot of people expected this after a
great year last year with the clips, Like what did
he average like twenty two points per game?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
He was like.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Sort of All Star consideration at the time. Last year,
we thought, okay, that was just a that's an outlier,
Like what a year. He shot the hell out of
the ball, and it did cool off as the season
went on. He's even better this year. He's averaging twenty
five points per game. His shooting splits are nuts right now,
fifty from the floor exactly. He's hit half of his
shots forty six from deep, credible, eighty eight at the line.

(22:40):
So he's flirting with a fifty to forty ninety with
a higher usage because they've had to ask him to
do more because Hero's been out and Wiggins is now
out and all that he's gonna make. He deserves to
make his first All Star team. And then we need
to check, like, what's the oldest a guy's been to
make his first ever All Star game? Like Norm's thirty
two and a half. I assume he's on a short

(23:01):
list of guys to make their first one. We'll have
to do some check in on that, but a deserving
spot at least, and the heater. Yeah, they're really fun
to watch because of the pace they play. Yeah, I'm
glad you brought up howkis too, that guy spinning left
and right. Man.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Yeah, I couldn't believe he's only shooting like twenty percent
from three hawkas, but he just scores inside all the time.
You can tell he learned from Jimmy Butler. The Head
have hit on like three things this year. First and foremost,
every NBA player is good at one on one, like
every NBA players for the majority of majority of guys.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
You know, there's some big dudes.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
There are some like three point specialists who maybe aren't
one on one players, but everybody else can get a
bucket if they're playing one on one, So they just
move the ball until somebody has a good matchup and
let him go.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
To war attack.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
Yes, it's like Hawks was just too big for all
of the seventy six ers guards because they play a
lot of smaller guys for the most part, so it's
just taking him inside, bump bump, spin, shoot over the top.
The other thing, they have a lot of togetherness because
everybody gets the ball, everybody runs, so they're able to
play at the fastest pace in the league. And because
everybody runs, because everybody gets a chance to touch the ball,

(24:01):
they all play defense. That's hard to do. Run and
also play defense. They've got eight guys averaging in double digits,
including Pella Larson.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Unbelievable to me.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
And then the third thing is that Bam Autebayo is
going to be the defensive player of.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
The year in the Eastern Conference like Wenby, if he
gets to enough games, will be the guy. In the West.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
If he doesn't, chet Holmgrin is the guy, but in
the East it's Bam when he plays the heat. Defense
is really really good. So they're good on defense and
good enough on offense.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah, and Bam continues to be a glue guy for
their team. It continues to be that guy that not
a lot of people talk about because he is an
now offensive superstar, but he's the guy that holds it
all together defensively. But you're right. On offense, they play
a lot of isolation and they say, we don't need
picking rolls. Just everybody go at your guy and keep

(24:50):
moving that thing and keep cycling it. And people make
fun of their offense that they demonstrated on Amazon Prime
when Bam Outabayou and Norm Powell came out there to
show their offense sets, because it's just penetrate kick, penetrate kick,
penetrate kick. But it will change once Tyler here, it
comes back a little bit. And if they go and
get a superstar, I think they are willing to change

(25:11):
who they are. And they got Eric Spolstra, so I
think they're willing to change it, and Spolstra will do that.
So it's a fun team to watch.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
Miami is also in great position here to make the
Cup knockout stage with a win over Milwaukee on Wednesday.
They got to get that. Obviously, no Jannis for the Bucks,
so if they get that, they're in a good spot
because even if the Knicks beat Charlotte and then they
beat the Bucks as well on Friday, thus winning the group,
the Knicks wood the Heat have a very very nice
cushion in the scoring margin for a wildcard run, and

(25:40):
that was a part of that Friday night game. Against
running of bulls. You run it up. We get some
weird outcomes in these Cup games, those early ones, especially
where you're like, oh yeah, we're up, we're up. We
won by twenty. Well, keep going, keep playing your guys,
because we might need the plus thirty, the plus forty,
whatever it is to maybe get a wild card, especially
to advance. They're in a good spot to be a

(26:01):
wild card team.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I hope Norm makes the All Star team. And it
feels like last year the All Star Reserve coaches, I mean,
the coaches who vote for the All Star Reserves were
voting for Norm Powell. It felt like it. I don't
know the actual outcome of the votes because we don't
get that, but it felt like they were saying, Okay,
this guy has been really good. They ended up selecting hard.

(26:21):
Is it different in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I think the NBA.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Has ruined talking about All Stars on podcasts because how
can you possibly say a guy is an All Star
when we don't even know how they're going to put
the teams. Well, so is Norm Powell one of the
best sixteen American players from the Eastern Conference?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Right? Like you have to factor in two separate criteria
before you even get to the All Stars there, right right,
It is very confusing. Yeah, it's Norm is normal gonna
play for the international team, plays for Jamaica.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
I mean yeah, he wants to be part of.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
He's got to get one of these spots. He needs
to be. Hey, the American man, you got to come
out like a whole cold or something for these games.
I think the coaches saw Jim Duggan. Yeah, why not,
you can pull it off. Man does bam like wrestling.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
No, it's not him. I don't know. I just think
if you want to come out like a wrestler, I
mean they can. They can start a campaign for him.
He can be a wrestler to get an All Star campaign.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Well, yeah, I'm saying Norm's got to lean into his
American roots, is what I'm saying. I think he's gonna
have a better chance making the American version of this
stupid All Star game.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Yeah, squad, I think the guy the coaches who end
up getting the ballots after the starters are selected, they
don't care where guy's from. They just they just say,
who are the top seven guys in each conference? That's
all they're going to do. And they don't know They
don't know.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
That's what That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
They talking about it because we have no idea how
this is going to possible work out or which teams
they will even be sorted on.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Norm Paul is the perfect candidate here, like he can
go on either too. I think that's why they're gonna
love it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
We can use him a bove that's perfect. That's so crazy,
that's so weird. That's why all NBA matters a lot more.
But guess what, there's a regulation on that too. You
have to play enough games. That's right, you're ruining our
awards talk I think of the podcasters.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Please come on silver, all right, good stuff. So two
hot teams literally Sun's heat. We got more teams to
talk about here. My winner of the weekend, I'm going
to give it to Jade and Ivy and the Pistons.
Saturday marked Jad and Ivy's first game of action since
January first. Has been a long time, his first real
NBA minutes since breaking his fibula over ten and a
half months ago. Now, he was cleared for training camp

(28:34):
some might remember, but then he had a step back
with his knee, so he under underwent surgery for that.
He had discomfort in his right knee. They said it
wasn't related or anything like that. But he's back limited
minutes fifteen minutes off the bench. Thought he looked okay though.
Ten points, hit a three on the wing, scored a
couple buckets in transition, hit a nice baseline jumper. Again,

(28:54):
not a lot of time out there, but the Pistons
didn't miss a beat. They took care of the bucks
one tween their twelfth consecutive victory. Well, how many seasons
ago was it when they were setting the all time
record in losing consecutive games of twenty eight two years ago,
three years ago?

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Yeah, yeah, two crazy.

Speaker 1 (29:14):
Now they're winning twelve straight and Ivy's back and they
can make it thirteen tonight against Indiana, and if they do,
that would match the Pistons franchise record for their longest
winning streak. They won thirteen straight in eighty nine to
ninety they won thirteen straight and O three oh four.
Both those teams went on to win the title. So
this is huge if they get up to thirteen tonight.
So we'll see. But man, they have this guy that

(29:36):
was really good before the injury.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Right.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
He was averaging seventeen four and four, and he was
hitting his threes and he had a good percentage overall.
Ivy's back here, and it's gonna get really tough because
there's like twelve guys that could play on this team.
I brought this up last week, Bickerstaff, tough job. With
Ivy and Tobias Harris back in the mix, you could
convince me they have twelve solid players. Their starters kde
Asar Thompson, Duncan Robinson. I assume is going to continue

(30:00):
to start because helps space the floor when you're running
pick and roll with Kayden Durham, Tobias Harris, Jalen Durant.
Then you got Ivy Jenkins has to play.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
You're gonna have to fry Dana Jenkins minutes from his cold,
dirty kros Liver.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
You got Ron holl In, the second, you got Javonte
Green has been good, and then you're BIG's Beef stew
and Paul Reid. That's twelve guys I don't and I'm
not even including the the lake Man himself. I think
he gets bounced. He's been good too, has been really good.
But a lot of guys here to play, so we'll
see what bigger staff does.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
A lot of guys to play and potentially a lot
of guys to trade. And I know, I know this.
The weird All Star format does limit some podcasters and
how they talk about the All Star Game. But all
of these teams that have a whole glut of players
to trade allows us to talk about trades plenty, especially

(30:57):
because you know it is trade season. Agency ain't going
to be as sexy, so we can talk lots about
the Pistons who resemble a little bit like the Rockets
of the East, and that they need another score. Everybody's
talking on another score, and this could be the team
that puts the package together.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
So they could put it with a lot with the
way a lot of these guys are playing, and obviously
draft picks, and yeah, is it Lowry Markinen? Is it
Anthony Davis? Is it another name that they want to
even do?

Speaker 3 (31:26):
Right now?

Speaker 1 (31:26):
You don't want to, like, you don't want to think
of even thinking of doing that, being fourteen and two
and playing the way you are.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
You got to get the longest piston streak first, then
we can talk about then they'll talk about it, I guess,
But cool for Ivy it was the same guy who
took him out last year and injured him. Was Cole
Anthony was playing playing against him again. I went back
and watched that injury. I think he was I think
he I mean that he wasn't sure if he was

(31:56):
okay with what Cole Anthony came up to the strecting
game a little pat. I don't know if he liked
that buddy either way, Like if he was cool with it.
You know, sometimes stuff happens, you get a stretcher, tap,
everything's cool. But he was angry anyway. What looked like
could be a year's long injury or just make you know,
take him out of who he was as a basketball player.

(32:18):
He looks a lot like him now. So yeah, great turn.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
He looked pretty good, I thought, for his first game
in a very long time out there on a good
team and didn't disrupt anything. Is a key part too.
Still fast very much. That helps, Yeah, I mean exactly. Yeah,
A couple in transition for sure. All right, let's do
quickly another round of winners here, TK, who you got?

Speaker 3 (32:37):
I got Russell Westbrook as a winner almost single handedly
snapped the King's eight game losing streak Saturday against Denver.
In the fourth quarter, Russ went for fifteen points on
six and seven shooting, hit a couple of threes, had
a couple of assists, even ripped a board out in
Nikolea Jokic's hands and threw it off his nuts.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Really impressive. Went shot for shot basically with Jokic. In
the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Yokic had nineteen and was doing his best to get
the Nuggets back into the game after they blew a
big time lead against the Kings.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Derozen was helpful, I thought in this one as well.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
I hit a couple of big buckets late for Sacramento,
made some free throws. But Russ finished with twenty one points,
six boards, eleven assists. The ball was really moving for
the Kings, and this had to have felt good for
him because the last time they played, they were talking
to him in the locker room after the game asking
why he didn't go back to the Nuggets even though
he had a player option. Could he easily signed it

(33:29):
and went back to Denver where he had a decent season,
And Westbrook said, the truth is that they didn't want
me back. It ain't up to me. God always has
a plan. Be patient, not up to me, they don't
want me. That's okay, somebody else does. They said, yeah,
but you had a player option. You could have just
went back. He's like, I don't want to go somewhere.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
I'm not wandering. Been there, Russ there for sure.

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Also a great clip of Westbrook stocking Rocky the mascot
in this game, like late after he hit that one
foot like step back, almost like shot. I think he
even went off the glass. Westbrook and Rocky, yeah, have
like a historic beef eating back to his thunder days
where Rocky was doing his over the head chuck a

(34:12):
three pointer. Westbrook jumps up and grabs the ball before
it goes through.

Speaker 1 (34:16):
I remember, absolute creep.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
So he's like walking right behind Rocky on the sidelines
and then Rocky just takes off scared.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
He didn't know what to do. He got spooked by
Russell Westbrook.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
So big time win for the Kings. You know they
needed to get a win. Some bonus is out right
now they got Keegan Murray backs. That's like, that's why
you have Russell Westbrook. He can win you a random
regular season game when you got nobody out on the
court and you shouldn't win.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
They shouldn't have beat the Nuggets.

Speaker 3 (34:46):
They were down by thirteen I think in the third
quarter went on a massive run, mostly with Westbrook taking
him making open threes or they're giving him a ton
of space and he just goes straight at you and.

Speaker 2 (34:56):
Hits a layup.

Speaker 1 (34:57):
Yep, And now we'll just pro not talk about the
Kings and trade their guys.

Speaker 2 (35:02):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Maybe unfortunately, but yeah, four and thirteen after the w
but it was it was all Westbrook. They don't there's
no way they win that game, no way. Shit. So
got a little revenge, the Russell Westbrook revenge game, which
he can also do for about half the league. Yeah,
but still that's how he operates.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
It's good to see Keegan Murray back for the Sacramento Kinks.
That is all they needed him. They need, they needed, they.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Need, they need precious that you he was out there?
What about you? Task another winner?

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Oh the Toronto After they won two games this weekend,
they've won seven in a row and they have officially
entered the elimination round of the NBA Cup, the first
team to do so. This team is a squad and
I liked the photo that they took after winning and
getting into that NBA Cup elimination round. Look at this.

(35:57):
Look at Scottie Barnes mid left. If you're with us
on YouTube, that smile on that guy. He wants to
be there. Look at Brandon Ingram on the right side.
He's kind of disappeared in there. He's just part of
the team. You got. Jamal Shed is one.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
Of the funniest looking guys in the NBA.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
And you know he's flexing. Look at that flex right there.
I'm looking good. Jamal Shed at the bottom, who is
trying to attain his Canadian citizenship. According to Hello and Welcome,
that's just the squad, just the squad, everybody playing now.

(36:34):
With the NBA Cup, they had one of the easier groups,
but gone. They had the Pacers and the Wizards, they
had the Calves. They were lucky to play them without
Donovan Mitchell when they play them because they didn't respect
the Cup and uh and the Alnahawks, So who are
It reminds me of the Milwaukee Bucks way of the
north Man. No, I'm not a wee man, but anyways,

(36:56):
North I'm cool with it. If you want to do it,
that's cool. They're kind of like the Milwaukee Bucks. Last year.
To me, he's a group and then when the elimination
rounds start, you pick it up. So we'll see what
happens here when it comes to the court. Fond, but
I just love the squad, what they look like, what
they play like. Brandon Ingram is their leading score, but
he is so willing to pass it to everybody. Is selfless.

(37:19):
He's got the fewest shots per game since eighteen nineteen
for him, lowis usage rate since eighteen nineteen for him.
Scottie Barnes, I think the first thing you talk about
when you talk about Scottie Barnes is his defense. He's
all defense. He doesn't have to shoot, but he is
such a connector on the offensive end. He's damn good
at that. And RJ Barrett he's the because everybody's passing,

(37:40):
he's that cut machine. He can slow down. His floaters
are better than they ever been in his career at
nineteen points per game. So all three of them are
nineteen points per game, and you go down the pecking
order along with Manual Quickly and Yak and all that.
They're just doing it together. So it's fun. Obviously, an
easy schedule to start. If we want to talk about that.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
But the Nets was a little too close for cover.
But they got it done.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
They got it done.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
Like what you were saying. It was like Ingram passing
out a double teams quickly, hitting timely shots. He couldn't
hit a three to save his life early in the game,
but then he hit some big ones. Ye. Scotty Barnes
everywhere defensively. Scottie Barnes leads the league in stocks, tasks,
steals plus blocks, and I think he like ranks basically
one of the best in the league when it comes
to like deflections, getting the hand on absolutely everything. And

(38:25):
there was a huge stop in that game against the
Nets on Sunday that was going the other way for
two was because he was everywhere. It was an incredible
defensive possession. You'll probably see the highlights going around. But
a good team, that's the key thing here. It's a
good team right now.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
I don't get why opposing coaches always double brandon Ingram.
I think there's too much of that happening. Just let
the guy score because he can score, but you allow
him to make everybody else better. And willing, he is
absolutely willing.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
The wildest stat for me from the first month or so.
The Raptors have the best half court offensive rating in
the NBA right now, that's amazing?

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:01):
What so? Yeah, good win? Let me get close. Yes,
I think what's out? PERTL? I think R J. Barret
did leave that game too with injury. He did, and
the Net's put up a fight, but they got the
w and uh are they gonna win this cup?

Speaker 2 (39:16):
Yeah? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
I didn't go deep enough to see who they play,
because that's part of it to get there.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
But yeah, hasn't won a Cup in like seventy years.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Right on the leaves Darryl shitlerd all over us right now? Wow?

Speaker 1 (39:35):
I know what. That's a reference to the Darryl Sittler.
He made a Darryl simpler though he's a legendary leads player.
Of course, of course he is.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Let me, I want to I want to eat some
words too, because I questioned a B I three hold
on notorious b I three that Matt Devlin says, I'll
eat some words. People like it? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (39:57):
Yeah, well do any What do you think of his
other rap reference that Devlin's leaning into a lot end
of game situation, mamu. He's been on fire one of
the best free agent signings in Raptors history. Ah, Mamu says,
knock you out. He's gone with that a couple times now,
so good that they.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
Raised the audio in the NBA dot Com recap of it,
they're like, you got to listen to this, mam says
you out.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
I thought it was.

Speaker 1 (40:24):
Great, and he has been awesome. He's like, oh, he's
so the Raptors.

Speaker 3 (40:26):
I think he's got a plus seventeen net rating when
he's on the court because he can stretch the court.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
Like.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Something that doesn't make sense to me is that when
you have Barnes, Ingram, and Barrett on the court together
negative net rating, they actually don't win the minutes when
those guys are out there together.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
Split them up into any combination with Mamu and they're good.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
Yeah, And I should have said, Scottie Barnes, you're in
the mix for Eastern Conference, the defensive player of ye, you're.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
In the mix.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
Very nice of you, very nice of it.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
No, Ingram, especially with the bench unit, is lights out
right now, like you got him as your offensive hub
and then a diehard shed head. That guy's awesome. And
then Mamu all these other guys contributing. Man, it's it's wild.
You're right. When they split them up, they're like, let's out.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
You gotta get you gotta get as supporting this team.
If you're in Canada, how can you not It's an
exciting team to be behind. As I said, Jamal shed
is trying to be a Canadian citizen. He got mad
at Jacoby Walter when they were singing oh Cannon and
Jacoby Walter wasn't part of the national wasn't saying He said,
come on, man, do it. Jamal Shedd is that guy

(41:33):
on the floor as well. He's just trying to get
everybody involved doing that kind of.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Thing, quically like we've got another Van vleet.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
It's awesome. Yeah, it's fun. It's fun. Yeah, Devlin doing
the call in. I will say the NBA page way
better this year. I put in together highlight packages, getting
the broadcasters involved, going sound up. Silver said, this team
is or excuse me, this league is a highlight league
and the highlights are better on the NBA page. They're

(42:01):
trying way more, I think, just to make it more fun.
And they're doing that.

Speaker 1 (42:05):
And yeah, and by the way, it's very likely the
Raptors will be the number one seed on the east
side of the Cup bracket, so they'll take on the
wild Cup card team, which could be, like I said,
the Miami Heat or maybe the nixt It probably be
will one of those teams. Okay, so that's your matchup
would be I would assume yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
You know yeah, And I will say. Glorilla, who is
on Brandon Ingram's lady friend. She was there court side,
and she swayed me on the Notorious b I three
because she was holding up a phone that said Notorious
b I three. She's cool with it, so I'm cool
with it.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Other winners, I got just a bunch. I want to
check you guys. James Harden made ten three pointers and
scored fifty five points over the weekend in a Clipper's
win over the Hornets that was on Saturday. It was
Harden's twenty fifth fifty point game in his long career,
tied Kobe Bryant for third most fifty point games in
NBA history. This is fun. Harden is the only active
player to hold single game scoring records for two different franchises.

(43:05):
Scored sixty one with the Rockets twice. He did that
that's a franchise record. And now fifty five with the Clippers.
Uh what do you passed? Bob McAdoo and uh Charles
Smith or something like that. Charles Smith, Yeah, I think so.
Someone rang he did have a fifty four point fifty two.
I thought it was but yeah, yeah, anyway, it's Hardens.
Now he's got both of them. It's pretty crazy. Scored

(43:29):
James Harden Man, I'll never stop. I'll stop.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
James harden He's cooking. He hasn't ever missed the playoffs
in his NBA career. Every team he's played on makes
the playoffs. And the Clippers are five and twelve.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Very Yeah, this is.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
Going to be an uphill climb. You think the streak
is snapped here, Yeah, that's gonna be top right. We
shall see the Thunder toppled the only team to beat
them this year. They got the revenge on the Blazers,
kick their ass one twenty five. The victory moves. Okac
is seventeen and one. But don't talk about it. Don't
look at him. Sga was nearly unstoppable. We'll get to

(44:07):
him later in WHOA Boy. Jalen Johnson twenty eight points
eleven assists, eight boards. Hawks won for the seventh time
in nine games, tight victory against the Hornets on Sunday.
I just wanted to bring that up because ghost Face
Ziller had this in his newsletter. Jalen Johnson is becoming
more than a future All Star. I'm just starting to
think he can be the best player on a true contender.
He's only twenty three end quote from ghost Face. Yeah,

(44:29):
young man, he's putting together some crazy stat lines over
last week or so. He is filling up the box score,
and he has some monster dunks in that game too.
That guy sores. I'm glad he plays for the Hawks.
He literally soars when he jumps to me, just like
a floats glides in the air. It looks so effortless
to me.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
He's awesome.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
And then finally dozer on X suggested and this was
an interesting one, so I wanted to include it. He
said the magic winner of the weekends said well, well,
hold on the magic loss this weekend, but he said,
look at this. They dominate, did the win over the
Knicks on Friday, that was a big Cup game, and
then despite losing to the Celtics on Sunday, they came
back from down twenty six to make it very close

(45:10):
in the fourth with no Palo, no Sugs, no Wendell
Carter Junior, no goga, and the rookies played very well
for the Magic. Jase had eighteen, Jase Richardson and Jet
Howard dropped thirty in that game, yet twenty two in
the fourth quarter. So there you go. Dojer included it
for you? Yeah, it's an interesting one. Doesn't always have
to be. You only went, you know, undefeated on the weekend.

(45:32):
Two and zero. That's impressive. Those guys that we've like
wondered at time, like John Howard especially, that was a
really good game for him. They did make it close.

Speaker 2 (45:41):
It was a fun fourth quarter to make it close.
They do depend on the heart of Jalen Suggs. There's
no doubt he was out that game. I think that's
the last back to back game that he's going to
sit out this season. They set him out just to
rest him, but apparently that's the last time they're going
to do that. Wendell Carter Junior also important to that defense.
So that's definitely why they looked bad against the Boston Celtics.

(46:02):
But I would give them a winner because they gave
Franz Wagner the turkey after the win against the New
York Knicks like they do every year. He did the
slicing it up. Yeah, and then usually we see somebody
grab that turkey leg and eat it. He said, no,
I'm not eating that. It's taking care of himself, taking
care of his bod. Even though a turkey bite that's healthy,

(46:23):
I get. I mean it should be healthy depending on
what they're putting on that turkey. Either way, he knows
what he has to eat. And he said, no way,
I'm not touching that. I'm not biting that, all right, Dante,
And I'm not eating that.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
You got to reply to.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
Your protein stores after a workout, you do excited for
turkey this week?

Speaker 2 (46:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
I'm not a Franz Wagner. I'm not a basketball player.
You can eat turkey.

Speaker 1 (46:53):
Those are a whole bunch of winners of the weekend.

we've done winners of the NBA weekend, we turn to
the losers TK who do you got a lot of
temper boys in the NBA this weekend? The Pelicans were
repeat offenders, ruffling the MAVs feathers on Friday Night, with

(49:16):
Naji Marshall featuring prominently in the beef former Pelican. I
think he just likes to talk trash with his old team.

Speaker 3 (49:23):
They followed that up the Pelicans did Saturday night with
a rookie moment. Derek Queen stole the ball from v
crachie as he was dribbling out the clock, took it
the other way for a dunk. Pelicans are down by
twenty at this point. That's a no no.

Speaker 1 (49:37):
Do not disrespect v crachie like that.

Speaker 3 (49:40):
Also Saturday night, the Bulls barely pulled out a win
against the Wizard's. Postgame, Booch gave an incredible interview. I
don't know if you guys saw it. Calls out the
team for being soft in the first three quarters. Jalen
Smith matus Bozellis being very silly in the background, like
jumping around.

Speaker 1 (49:57):
Booch's pissed. Oh yeah, he pushed Boozellis out of the way.
Move man.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
I love that.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
Big Dad energy from Jalen gets into him. Come on,
be happy, Manoch, these kids.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
This guy finishes the interview, says, we just played really soft.
It was really bad. We can't keep doing this. It's
not sustainable. You're exactly right, Dad energy from Booch. He
was upset to be driving those kids for a twelve
hour car ride. Would you shut up there? We're just
trying to win some games here. That was an incredible interview.

(50:32):
You can see Casey Johnson just laughing. Yes, it's happening.
He's like, thank you for being honest. But taking the
cake of course. John Moran versus Klay Thompson. John missing
his third straight game, almost his fifth straight game. He
played five minutes in one of them, but the Grizzlies.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Got the win.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
Play out a good game, twenty two points off the bench,
but missed a big three pointer to tie with twenty
seconds left, maybe a bit.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
Of a rush shot.

Speaker 3 (50:58):
Afterwards, Jos got his fingers in his going to Klay Thompson,
calling him a bum, and in the postgame interview with
Cam Spencer, who played great job, made sure to be
overheard yelling tell him who the best shooter in the
house was. It wasn't Bro from Golden State. Clay didn't
like it.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
In his postgame interview in the locker room, he said
Jaws comments were nothing of intelligent depth. Also a dad comment, right,
He said John was just running his mouth. He's been
running his mouth for a long time and it's funny
to run your mouth when you're on the bench.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Facts.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
It's kind of the story of his career so far,
just leaving us wanting more unk mode.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
Yeah, he was putting John in his place. They get
on the court and then talk buddy. I thought this
was great from Klay Thompson. Clay was kind of mad
this entire game. Got mad at Santi.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
Al Dama for tripping up Cooper Flag. He was still
mad at Vince Williams. I think he was just mad.
He was just on overdrive at that point.

Speaker 3 (51:52):
And then after missing the shot, which surely upset him
even more. To have jogging in his face when he's
not even playing set Clay off so big time loser energy,
I thought from Ja Morant right there.

Speaker 1 (52:03):
And this beef goes back until what twenty twenty one
at least the play in game between the Grizzlies and Warriors,
and then the next year when they had the seven
game series. A lot of talk between these teams, and
clayt talks with the best of them, like he'll let
people know he's generally playing though, and has backed it
up with a bunch of championship rings. It's the Ja
Morant they're in the suits, in the sweatsuit, I should

(52:27):
say on the sideline, pointing and barking and chirping. And
then yeah he didn't. Clay did not hold back in
that postgame interview with what he said about him.

Speaker 2 (52:36):
Yeah, because he went disappointing dad mode.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
I'm not even angry about you, like trash talks like
you don't even play man. There supposed to be a
fire star.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Yeah, the finger in Clay's face was too much. That
was too far. They have a beef and so that's acceptable.
I thought. Jumping in to his teammate Spencer's postgame press
conference was alright. He's shown support for Spencer. Though then
he mentions Clay, you know, you know, yeah, it goes back.

(53:04):
The word bums, as Brant called him, was something that
Clay called morant in twenty twenty two when the Grizzlies
beat the Warriors in the regular season. Then the Warriors
were able to take them out in the playoffs. So
Rant said, you know, let's see the strengthened numbers or
whatever you tweeted, and then Clay said that bum So

(53:26):
now it's a it's just a bum fest. I guess
they just call each other bumps and that's a thing,
so you know, it's jaw Unfortunately. I don't again, I
don't mind, like, you know, trash talking, but you know,
we got to go get in his face after the win.
I mean that's just like, what's up with that?

Speaker 1 (53:42):
Right you generally, well, yeah, generally you'd like your trash
talk to be between two guys playing. Yeah, too, generally,
I get it. You hear guys that are on the side,
like barking and stuff. But yeah, yeah, that's the part
where Clay legit buried him in the postgame comments because
he's like, and I think the stat was going around.
I think Tom haberstro had it. Clay, after his two

(54:02):
devastating injuries, has played in more games than John Moran has.

Speaker 2 (54:07):
In his career.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
Yeah, like after the acl and all that in the Achilles, Like,
that's pretty wild. That's telling stat right there. For one
guy young and in is like not even his prime,
re rendering his prime. The other obviously a little older,
but coming back and still getting out there even if
he has been struggling. And this was a good play game.
It was a good play game until he obviously missed
that big shot. But he's just pissed. I'm with you.

(54:29):
He is. He's angry with how his season's gone, how
the Mavericks season has gone, So it's it's come to
a little frustration.

Speaker 3 (54:37):
The guy wears his emotions on y leave and this
is reminiscent of the end of his Golden State tenure
when like everybody was getting their shots in on Klay
Thompson and his struggles being part of the starting lineup
but maybe not should have been part of the starting lineup.
Remember he's like always given his four rings to people

(54:57):
and eventually got shipped out or signed with the With
the Mavericks, it feels really similar having a tough season,
not being where he wants to be, and very proud
of his accomplishments. So to have a guy who's done
basically nothing in the league come at him when he's
not even playing.

Speaker 1 (55:14):
I'm on Clay side for this one thing.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
Most people are oh, yeah, yeah, everybody is. I'm sure,
but and this is Clay time. As we said last year,
even with the mass December January, that's when he got
it going. Because he started poorly last year and now
was that twenty two point game. He's starting to look
like Clay.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
Just wait till after Turkey for Clay. That's the kid
that was close.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Yeah that shot, that one shot would have shut everybody up,
but he was short on that on that shot, it
was adeed three.

Speaker 1 (55:40):
Well, rushy, rush, yeah, I thought.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
But otherwise looking good, Who do you have for a
loser the weekend. Let's start with Clay's old team, the
Golden State Warriors. They got beat by the Blazers. They
just played one game this weekend. They're now down to
nine and nine after a really good start, they've lost
three in a row. The vibes aren't immaculate with the
Golden State Warriors. Even though Steph performed in this Portland

(56:04):
trip a Blazers game, he had thirty eight, they were
giving up way too many open shots over and over.
Maybe it's just that first game back after a long
road trip, but they're playing zone and they're allowing guys
like Caleb Love, a man by the name of Caleb
Love to score twenty six points. He's a good story.

(56:24):
He's only played nine games in the NBA. But those
shots were just wide open. And then when he was
missing or other guys were missing, the Blazers just got
offensive rebound after offensive rebound after offensive rebound. They had
twenty one offensive rebounds in this game. I talk about
Trace Jackson Davis maybe getting some minutes because they need height,
they need help. Steve Kurr does not trust him, yanked
him real quick in this game. And Jimmy Butler after

(56:46):
the game called out their defense. So who are we?
What are We haven't been around here long, but this
isn't who they are. And again, just a lot of
bad things going wrong at this time. Jonathan Kaminga is
not playing tonight. He's been out now, including tonight, will
be out six straight games. Al Horford's got the old
man injury. He's got sciatica. He's going to be out

(57:09):
a week now. They have had a very road heavy schedule,
twelve on the road, six at home. Maybe that's a
little bit of a part of it. But also when
you got some of these injuries happening, you got old guys,
you just need something to happen from internally. And maybe
it's the d Anthony Melton effect. He'll be coming back,

(57:29):
let's go soon ish, he's already practicing and stuff. So
they just need vibes. They need vibes. And nine and
nine I think they're just one of those teams that
I know are our friends that Brian Windhorse and especially
Tim Bonteps were saying that the West is just kind
of unimpressive right now, which I get, but I don't

(57:52):
really agree. I think it's the teams like this, like
the Warriors who just aren't killing it, the Wolves who
just aren't killing it that are kind of disappointing and
aren't towards the top that are that's really got that
narrative going. But there's really good teams in the West,
and I think the Golden State Wars just need to
find them some vibes because schedule oldness is definitely a factor.

Speaker 1 (58:13):
And that loss on Friday Night, I keep going back
to it because I respect it.

Speaker 2 (58:16):
That was a cup loss.

Speaker 1 (58:18):
And they're one and two now and they are not
coming out of the Group of Death, and the Blazers
are maybe in the driver's seat at two and one
in West group seed, but they have a minus eighteen
point differential, which is very funny. Rockets. The Nuggets are
two and one as well. The Rockets are one and two,
Spurs are one and one, so it's a really down
to three teams there. Spurs Blazers and then Nuggets, so

(58:40):
we'll see.

Speaker 3 (58:41):
Yeah, the Warriors are lucky that Steph's Curry scored forty
six and forty nine against the.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
Spurs back to back games, got two wins.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
If not for that, their only wins since November fourth
would be against the Pacers and the Pelicans, two of
the absolute worst teams in the league. The game against
the Trailblazers was crazy to see Caleb Love lighting them
on CD Sosoko lighting them off. I just they seem
so frantic to me. They're just running around without any
sort of defensive plan. It felt like they were getting

(59:08):
beat off the dribble, and then it felt like all
five guys were collapsing, maybe overhelping a little bit, so
easy kickouts for three and then it's like, okay, I
gotta run out and get that guy. They finally miss it,
you give up an easy offensive rebound. They're playing a
ton of small guys, Like you're saying, I don't actually
think Trace Jackson Davis is the answer. Steve Kerr clearly
doesn't trust with them. Was out of the rotation for

(59:29):
a lot of the season last year, out of the
rotation to start this year. Horford's never been a big rebounder.
Post doesn't really rebound. Draymond is six'. Six you, know
they don't have necessarily the personnel to be a great defensive,
team and the schedule definitely isn't. Helping but that's the good.
Thing The warriors are complaining a lot about the schedule right,

(59:50):
now how much we had to, travel how many back
to backs they've. Had every team has about the same
number of back to. Backs so if you're front loaded
in the first half of the, season it means in
the second half of the, season you're gonna have more
games where they play, okay and you're gonna have less
back to. Back so maybe once they figure out what
happens With, comingo or whether that means him coming back
and joining the rotation or more likely trading him for
somebody that's, helpful maybe they're able to string things together

(01:00:13):
in the second half of the. Season but top of
The west is, Good middle of The west Is anybody
can beat, anybody because nobody's a dominant team right.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Now my loser of the WEEKEND i got to give
it to The Denver nuggets already brought Up westbrook taking
over in the fourth quarter and beating, them The Sacramento
kings beating The. Nuggets but the real reason Is Aaron
gordon is going to be out with a right ham string.
Strain he's gonna be reevaluated in four to six, weeks
so this is a long time. Here he was injured

(01:00:42):
In friday's loss to The excuse, me they did win that.
Game he was injured in that win over The rockets
On friday. Night but this is. Tough this guy's one
of the best three and die players in the, league
and The nuggets success with him on the. Floor backs
that claim up thirty one games last, season a majority

(01:01:02):
of it was due to the right caft. Strain The
nuggets we're seventeen and fourteen in the games Without Aaron,
gordon so just above five. Hundred when he, played they're
thirty three and. Eighteen that's like a sixty five percent win.
Clip so he's. Important and then on top of, that
we've already talked about starting two Guard Christian. Brown he's.
Out he's missing significant time with a left ankle. Sprain

(01:01:23):
so now there's two guys out of your starting, lineup
guys that are like, again these three and d elite
guys are the perfect guys to compliment yo Kitchen Jamal,
murray and they're gone, now so gives more time To
Tim hardaway And Peyton watson And Bruce. BROWN i Guess
Julian strather whenever he can get, back, Maybe BUT i
look At Cam johnson now and it's like all, Right
like here's like a lot more. Responsibility as somebody put,

(01:01:45):
it the onboarding is, Over Cam, Johnson maybe need you
to step into that third leading scorer, role the leading
the defense role that we know he has in. Them
maybe hasn't shown a whole bunch and hasn't had to
maybe at this, point but there's there's a guy there
that has to sort of step up into that. Vacuum to,
me so tough Loss Aaron gordon going down.

Speaker 2 (01:02:05):
Here, yeah especially because it's now sort of a recurring
injury with With Aaron, gordon it's Game johnson. Time it's
really up to. HIM i know they've got other, wings
but it's really on him as far as playmaking and
just leading the.

Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
Defense the good thing is they got off to a,
great great start, here like record, wise even if they
slip a little, bit WHICH i would assume they would
Because he's, important so Is Christian. Brown and you, KNOW
i guess prime, example losing to The kings And Aaron
gordon barely played in that game, too is a part of.
It but they have a nice start to the, season
so you know they're not like playing from behind here right.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Away early, on lost to The kings on an eight
game losing, streak lost to The bulls on a five
game losing. Streak bulls are coming off back to back
doublet they were just very lackadaisical in both of these,
games thinking that they had them. Handled But i'm with,
you it's going to be On Cam johnson to show
why they made the move to Ship Michael Porter junior
out because right now this looks like a win for The.

(01:03:04):
Nets and, Also Jamal murray needs to be a little
bit better playing outside of his minutes With Nikola. Jokich
those two on the, floor they are, unstoppable but you
split them up And murray isn't necessarily able to carry the,
team and they're just gonna need him to do a
little bit more offensively because the defense just isn't going
to be the.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
Same Without Aaron.

Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
Gordon he's the rare guy who guards up and down
in the, lineup can play as a bigger guy when
they need him, to as a smaller guy when they
need him. To SO i think they're just gonna have
to go crazy on the offensive, end which they're certainly
capable of.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Doing, yeah and you'd rather like these unfortunate injuries, now
of course Than april And. May i'm talking about To
Aaron gordon And Christian, brown like this can sometimes work
in your favor where you can get valuable minutes for
some of the guys off the bench they're thrown into
more of a starting role or even just Asking Cam
johnson to do, more and it can pay off down the,
Line like you can have a guy like Maybe Peyton,

(01:03:56):
Watson Timardowy junior is of. That you sort of know
what you're getting at this, point but some of these
guy can get an. Opportunity strawther again he comes to,
mind if he can get back because he's banged. Up
it can work out down the, line just with some
reps with some of the key, players and then you
can see them in like a big quarter where they
win you a quarter in a playoff.

Speaker 2 (01:04:13):
Series, yeah Especially cam combined with the bench players if
he can lead those players Like Aaron gordon had to
at times during the regular season last year when the
bench looks, stinky they, said all, Right Jamal Aaron, gordon
it's your. Time and if it's Not jamal leading, It
Cam johnson can do more of. That so it can
work for the deep bench, guys but could also work

(01:04:33):
for the third and fourth option guys In Cam, johnson
and he's got to get going offensively a little. Bit
he's great at playmaking and he's a very capable, player
but he's got to be able to play to what
he did last. Year ALTHOUGH i will say it was
a Great Nuggets rockets. GAME i will say About Reed,
shepherd who looked awesome with The denver with The Houston,

(01:04:55):
rockets he's talking trash like he's a member of The Houston,
rockets like they all. Do it feels, like, uh he
hit that. Shot he was miked and he hit it
In Tim hardaway's, face and he came back and he,
said you, Dumb and he stopped himself from saying the
word ass because he knew he was. Mike very. FUNNY
i think it's cool to say ass in twenty twenty.

(01:05:18):
Five ass and damn are fine, now all?

Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
Right mostly things have.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Changed, YEAH i just mean in, General, WOW.

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I care you're the one always doing the incredible job
of bleeping Your.

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Sorry i've was just asking what you think of the general,
landscape the media world. Landscape, yeah THE nba is okay with.
It sports are okay with.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
IT i think.

Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
So.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Yeah uh any other losers of the? Weekend do you
want to slip in?

Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
THERE i didn't like The Cabin herder. Rejection oh, yeah
the weekend To Tony.

Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
Brothers that could be a worst of the Week, now
that was. Crazy the boy slap a ball slapping at, You. Tony,
yeah hit the other.

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
That was.

Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Weak that was.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
WEAK i will say one thing About Kevin. Herder they
did one of those social media videos the bulls are asking, Everybody,
hey what's your must go to On? Thanksgiving they Asked Kevin.
Herder he, said the sweet potato marshmallow castrole whatever it is.
Called was it called? Probably, Yeah but it's got. Marshmallows
it's like a sweetie sweety. Dish, WEIRD a weird thing to,

(01:06:32):
say like that's your go, to that's your number one
loser for the. Weekend likes the color the color as
on the dessert. Table, fine but as your go to
AND i don't think it was just the way they.
Edited he, said that's my that's my. Things the bold

(01:06:52):
take for. SURE i, guess, uh maybe a loser of the.

Speaker 1 (01:06:56):
Weekend too small One Kevin love who got Nutmegged yeah
By luca was a nice one rough wow in, transition
straight through the. Legs see you. Later kevin was turned,
Around oh where do you? Go and then a huge?
HOOPE i guessed was That Jackson. Hayes yeah, no that was,
nice nice, play good game From. Luca got very. Close
jazz made it competitive in the, end but The lakers

(01:07:18):
eked it.

Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
Out, yeah The jazz would, Say Keyante george falling before
the inbound pass is a loser of the. Weekend lakers
getting a call or a non, CALL i should say
That Marcus, smart that's your winner of the. Weekend he hooked,
him grabbed, him he, falls he doesn't get the, Ball
so that could. Be that could have been a moment
where The jazz had an option. There, Anyway lakers love,

(01:07:41):
It lakers fans Love.

Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
It's all a little like what's up with?

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
You minnesota Timber wolves haven't beat a winning team Yet
Anthony edwards impossible to give him a loser of the.
Weekend he scored forty one point twenty five in the
second half of that loss against The, suns but LIKE i,
mentioned he did have that like very very nonchalant turnover
that really helped start the comeback for The. Suns he
did miss two free. Throws he did give up a

(01:08:06):
big time offensive rebound To royce. O'Neil i don't feel
like we're SEEING mvp level play From Anthony.

Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
Edwards at all this.

Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Season when he doesn't have a good scoring, game it
feels like he doesn't have a good game. Period AND
i think that if he were, better the Timber wolves
would be a team more well respected right, now because
right now it looks like they're just going to beat
up on the bad, teams which there are a lot
of bad. Teams they're gonna have a good enough, record
which they do right. NOW i think they're ten and, six.
Yep but they're gonna have to eventually level up if

(01:08:34):
they want to take on some of the top of
The Western.

Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
Conference i'm telling you they Need Chris. PAUL i Hate
Chris paul in that locker.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Room who's Better Chris paul Or Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
Conley Chris, Paul Mike, CONLEY i Mean Mike, conley but
it doesn't. Matter Chris. Paul Chris paul is your. Guy
he's an energy. Guy Mike conley's not your. LEADER i don't.
THINK i don't Think Anthony. EDWARDS i mean he Respects Mike,
conley there's no. Doubt but you just need an. ASSHOLE
i think that's what.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
If the question is who's a bigger asshole Between Chris
paul And Mike.

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
Conley, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:07):
Is the nicest guy IN nba.

Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
History apparently they like. Him they keep playing for. Him
When Anthony edwards gets eliminated for the, playoffs he, said,
MAN i wanted to do this For. Mike Uh, SO
i think they could just use. That but it is.
Weird there are, TIMES i guess in the season where
you do See Anthony edwards not played with his. Capability
this is. It even at the end when he had
the chance to hit the game winner when they inbounded,

(01:09:30):
it he kind of got, doubled but he spun and
just passed. That Julius, Randolph, yeah, exactly so the same
peak peak.

Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
An't, yeah it is a shocking stat. That you just
said that they haven't beaten like a team with a winning.
RECORD i guess when they took them, on, right that
is pretty. Well they all had a couple losses to The.
Lakers they've lost to The nuggets maybe. Twice, now, YEAH
i think they have lost to The, suns like you,
said lost to The, knicks so need a need a
good one under their. Belt they beat The, blazers but

(01:09:57):
then even at the start of the season was the
first g of the year and they came back from
a twenty point. Episode, okay there you, go there you.
Go all, right those are our winners and losers of
THE nba. Weekend who do we? Miss let us know
in the comments below here on. YouTube all, right we'll,
Bite we'll bite of The Night fantasy line of The,
night only looking At sunday, here not doing the entire.

(01:10:18):
Weekend So sunday, games it's going to a good Old
canadian boy from The Hammer Shay. Gilgess alexander gets Will
blay of The night thirty seven points versus The blazers On,
sunday shot thirteen of eighteen from the, floor two to,
three from, deep nine to, nine perfect at the, line
added a game high seven. Assists he had five, boards

(01:10:38):
two steals and just one turnover in thirty. Minutes he
did all of this in thirty, minutes is the other.
Part so an easy thirty seven to seven and five
task in limited time as they got their revenge Against.

Speaker 2 (01:10:51):

did it once the first.

Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
TIME i couldn't tell if we did it the first time,
either but if we did, IT i definitely Picked cleveland
every single, Time, oh every single.

Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
TIME i think you might be. Right that was A
it was a cup. Game so it's pretty. Good Darius garland's, back,
right you, know that's good.

Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
Chances maybe he sits out of back to. Back i'm
not sure because he did play, yesterday but it is
good for. Him both teams on a back to.

Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
Back, YEAH i forgot about The.

Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Caves toronto doesn't have to travel Well cleveland does ten games. Tonight,
oh pretty pack. Schedule all.

Speaker 1 (01:13:00):

TOO i did Check FanDuel this morning and it was
already down at two for the. Casts who's. Resting i'm
just saying. Saying when we did, it was three and a.
Half So cleveland's got to win by four For trade
to get the. Win you AND i need The raps
