Speaker 1 (00:05):
Good morning, sweet world, and welcome to the No Dunks Podcast,
presented by Fan Duel. It's Monday, December one, twenty twenty five.
I'm Jay Skis here in the Classic Factory, and alongside
me as always.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
It's Task Mellis.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
What's up everybody next to him.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
It's my top sho hot Boy, Trey Kirby, Hell, Hey yo,
and over Yonder making the magic happens. Super producer jd Hello,
there he is here, we are Hello everybody on YouTube.
Hit the like button, subscribe podcast listeners, five star ratings
and reviews. On today's show, we're going to hit you
with some NBA weekend winners and losers. But first, Task
did lose November's hick Him battle coming in dead last

(00:42):
got off to.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
A slow start.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Mm hm, you were oh and ten, maybe oh and
eleven at one point finish strong for being honest, but
because you lost November, you got to pay it off
with a goatee.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Whoa and let's be honest. Looks. I got a call.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Oh yeah, I look exactly the same.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
I've always kept a short beard to maintain my youth,
and I kind of feel like I'm back in college
here on the sides though. Yeah, I listen, I left
it a little bit thick right here. I didn't go
for it. It was a bit of a whist move. I
could have thind it out of it. I could have
gone my Zion Williamson.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Did you think about dying it?

Speaker 4 (01:21):
I talked about that. Yeah, I talked about that with
everybody I know. But I didn't have it in me.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I guess I could have.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
I could have gone the guy Ferry or whatever. Really cool,
but yeah, I was a little disappointed. I thought i'd
have a stronger jawline. Nope, not angular. That did not happen.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
So here I am.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
But I do feel like I'm back in college, that's
for sure. That was a college move for me. This
is like twenty years ago. I thought I wore a
shirt that I would wear in college today.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
So I feel like I'm back cool man.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Like that music selection, JD. I thought you might go
R and B.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
Well, we didn't know what we were getting when he
walked through the Yeah, so R and B evil?

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, I knew he wasn't gonna look evil unless I
look the same.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Yeah, I'd buy insurance for you.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Okay, so they do.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
But it was exciting when you were ten oh and eleven,
and there was talk of Trey and I having to
also do a goate.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
If you ran the entire month without a win.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
It would have been way worse if it was Trey,
especially with a much more thorough beard.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Would definitely been a new metal look.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
That would have been easy. Did you get that idea?

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Actually, I've seen great metal videos on Instagram of Greeks
playing metal, like Greeks in Melbourne, like men in Togas
in a metal band. Basically, that's my rabbit hole for
the I.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Guess, all right, so has a go to.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
But we had a couple of weggies to show you,
guys from the break. We've been gone for a little while,
so we're going back to Thanksgiving Eve. And this was
Molik Monk sticking the floater weggie. That was weggie number
sixteen on the season.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Oh wait to pop it in there? Good stuff. And
then this was last night.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
This was Sunday, another King's player, Keegan Murray going for
the dunk. Zach Edy I think got a piece of it.
Didn't go into the play by play as a block though,
or into the box score. So it's Keegan Murray's dunk
attempt weggie and we're up to seventeen on the season.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
For podcast listeners, I just want to paint the picture
of Keig and Murray gets blocked, falls to the ground,
lying on the ground, and then he has to look
up at a wedgy.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
He's just like staring at it. That's awful.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
What's incredible right now too? The Sacramento Kings have five
wedgies this season. Sacramento Kings have five wins this season. Wow,
same amount of weggies.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
As a wins. And they have five different guys that
have had a weggie too. It is crazy.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
So they are carrying our weggie number right now. That's
five to seventeen. Pretty good percentage of the wedges are fantastic.
All right, let's get into weekend winners. We'll do losers, laters.
Let's hear from you guys in the stream team right now,
your weekend winners and losers. I'll get a started here
today because I want to go back to Friday Night.

(04:29):
Tangible Cup Intensity is a winner of the weekend. We
had four teams that were victorious Friday Night, claimed group
stage wins and advanced to the knockout rounds. In the East,
the Magic defeated the Pistons behind a big game from
Desmond Bain. They took Group B. The Knicks also advanced
to the knockout stage with a win over the Bucks.
The Heat advanced as a wildcard team from the East

(04:50):
with a three to one record. In the West, Thunder
came out of Group A thanks to a tight win
over the Suns. Spurs got a huge one thirty nine
one thirty six road win over the Nugge. It's to
take the Group of Death and then the wildcard spot
claimed by Phoenix because of a plus thirty one point differential.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
So that's the bracket right there. Here's the schedule.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
We don't play these games until next week Tuesday, December
ninth and Wednesday, December tenth, So we have the East
top seed Orlando. They're gonna host Miami, and then New
York will visit Toronto following day OKC hosting Phoenix, so
they play again here, which was very funny. If you
saw the clip of SGA and JDub finding out about that, they.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Were like, what what do you mean?

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Anyway, followed by San Antonio playing in La versus the Lakers.
Good games on Friday night, Cat did you have a
favorite of the bunch.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
I gotta go MAVs Lakers, considering it was an Amazon
broadcast game.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Bucksley, So sorry, my bad. Sorry, Yeah, yes, I was
thinking one of the games that got somebody through. But yes,
mass Lakers continue.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
We're talking about Luca versus the MAVs here as a
big game. It's Amazon, Everyone's talking about it. Luca basically
said prior to this game before after his last NBA
Cup game, saying, I slip on these courts. So the
Lakers literally had to remove the court because of that,

(06:13):
because their superstar was doing that. He comes out, he
throws an Ali up to Lebron. I mean that looked phenomenal.
Austin Reeves was dancing with Klay Thompson. That was phenomenal.
Cooper Flag with his MIDI game, which we'll get to
as a winner because he looked awesome. But this was
a close game down to the wire, Anthony Davis with
a big block, Lakers go on to win it. But
I just thought that as a whole considering Amazon Prime

(06:37):
is more of the NBA Cup feature broadcaster, and they
have made it more of a thing this year. They
hit back to back homers Nicks Bucks and then this
one Mas Lakers. Yeah, I think that was the one
that stood out to me the most.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Got you surprised you with that pick because the Lakers
were already moving on to the knockout stage.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I thought you take one of the others.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Again, Luca versus the mad and it turned out to
be he had the.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Cup drama, the Cup court drama that you had pointed
out last week.

Speaker 4 (07:04):
He has complained about slippery since the start of the
NBA Cup, since the inception in twenty twenty three, back
to back to back jams. Then they take off the
court to say the superstar he needs to have a
court he doesn't slip on.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
So are they going to have the court fixed by
next Wednesday when they host the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
That's the question. Are they going to have rip it up?
I don't know, yeah, sand it or they're just going
to play on their normal code court. Interesting. I bet
they'll probably play on their normal court.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
It is interesting.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
It's all about Luca, right, because because I have other
guys really been complaining. I noted Jalen Brown has done
it once in the three years, but other than that,
there hasn't been many. I don't know, I don't know
if there's been any other ones. Really, Lucas says other
guys are slipping, It's more.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
Likely it's Luca's shoes than it is the slippery cord. Interesting. Okay,
what about you favorite game for Friday Night?

Speaker 5 (07:58):
Well, like Tas, I was a good consumer, can just
watching these Amazon goods all day. I didn't take in
the Skins game, but I did see the Bears beat
the Eagles straight into the NBA Cup Action it was great.
The other game I would throw in the mix Thunder Suns,
I thought was really awesome just because we're actually seeing
the Thunder play in close games in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
You can even throw in if you want to.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Their game on Wednesday against the Timberwolves, another game where
Shaikl just Alexander actually had to play and the fourth
quarter Sons weren't ultimately able to pull off the comeback,
but they made it close.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
And you know, the.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
Sons recently hadn't had very many wins against five hundred teams.
But they're a scrappy team. They play hard, They've given
everybody fits, and I thought it was interesting to see
them play such a close game against each other and
then they're gonna to throw down again.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Pretty exciting.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Weird how the matchups work out for some of this stuff,
like the Knicks and the Raptors are gonna have to
play again after just playing again over this weekend. It's
like we can't show all of our cards and reveal
our Cup strategies. But yeah, I thought the Thunder actually
having to go out and win some games in the
fourth quarter, and they're both of their Cup matchups over
the weekend.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
It's pretty sweet.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
So there are eight teams obviously left with a chance
to win the Cup. I want to get your opinion
on who do you have winning? Is the obvious answer.
Just run with the Thunder because they are the favorites
on FanDuel minus one thirty one I checked. Then Lakers
plus five to fifty, Magic plus seven hundred, Nicks plus
seven to fifty.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Then it goes.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Raptors, Heat Spurs, the Suns long shots to win the Cup.
I mean they got to get by okay, see of
course first plus six thousand. But who would you pick
to win this thing? You're three of the Cup.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
I think it's going to be Nick's Thunder in the final.
The Knicks are talking about this a lot. They have
noted that they respect the Cup. They got so many
guys talking about it. I will take okay. See though,
considering they've lost one game so far this season, the
Blazers couldn't take them out twice, they beat them once,
they couldn't take them out on Sunday. And the Thunder
have something to play for. They got to the final

(09:53):
last year they lost, so there's that. If it gives
them a little bit of motivation, and maybe, as Trey said,
these close games that they've played in recently helps a
little to some degree, at least they're playing for something,
because yeah, they've been spanking everybody, and now they've had
some close games too.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Okay, taking the Thunder their favorites, So you're backing, Okac
or are you swerving here?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
I'm swerving.

Speaker 5 (10:15):
Give me the Lakers, like you said, second favorite on
FanDuel plus five point fifty. They just got Lebron back
and Hartenstein's going to be out. I assume for a
Cup matchup, assuming that both the Lakers and the Thunder
get through in their first round matchups, I wouldn't think
the Thunder they should be the favorites. You know, they're
twenty and one they can lose in the Cup final
once again, it doesn't even matter, right, beautiful record this year,

(10:38):
but give me the Lakers. They're clicking right now. That
game on Friday was super impressive. Integrating Lebron has been very,
very smooth. No surprise. This will be a huge step
up in competition for the Lakers should they end up
meeting the Thunder in round two of Cup Action. But
I like the way they've been playing, and it's only
one game, Like if they played in a series, sure

(11:00):
everybody would take the Thunder. It's got to be tough
to beat them four out of seven times, but beating
them once, yeah, you just need to have one great gain.
And Luca and Reeves have been playing awesome together the
entire year. Now they got Lebron back as well.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Do you think players are caring more about the Cup
than they have in years prior equal amounts of care.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Less care Like I saw this sort of discourse.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Going around obviously the social media channels on Friday night
when a lot of those games were good and like
it was a lot of like stakes were in play
to advance or win your group and move on, and
like obviously the Pistons Magic game was great, came down
to the wire.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
Do you buy that? Do you believe it is this working?
I guess I think so.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I think the players know more about the NBA Cup
because they're making this more of a production, not just
the Amazon TV deal. And you have as a broadcaster
now the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals, because literally I can't
remember if the same broadcaster had the quarterfinals, semifinal, and
finals last year.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
This year, it is more of a thing.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Going into Friday's broadcast, it was Taylor Rooks and four
somewhat recent NBA players right beside her in Nash, Dirk Blake,
and Eudonnas Haslin. This is more of a thing. In arena,
they talk about it more. This game is on Amazon,
this game is on NBC. You can hear the in
arena announcers talking about that. So everybody knows that this game,
these games are like that, and as I said, players

(12:24):
are talking about it more.

Speaker 3 (12:26):
So, Yeah, it's more of a thing.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
I think it's I think they've made this more of
an event, and that was part of the whole TV deal.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Let's focus on this.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
So, yeah, were any of those guys still around when
the Cup started Haslam maybe like he his last year
was the first year.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Of the Cup.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Technically, yes, yes he was.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I wonder if he ever set foot in the Cup game.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
I wonder if he ever felt the pressure from inside
the arena.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
Did they ask him a question on the Amazon broadcast.
I don't know, but they say, hey, what does it
feel like playing in the NBA Cup. I don't know,
but he was active, but yeah, the heat. He didn't
get too far anyway.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
Yeah, Well, everybody loves money. That's why they're fiving rich people. Yeah,
even rich people. Josh Hart apparently just got robbed. So
this guy really cares about the Cup right now. And
you hear in postgame interviews with all the players they
always bring it up, and it's always about the money.
Even Devin Booker, He's like, I'm making seventy five million dollars,
but not everybody's making seventy five million dollars. This means

(13:23):
a lot to Nigel Hayes Davis. So I think as
long as they keep the financial incentive, people are going
to care. And an Amazon paid a pretty penny to
get this, they should raise the purse. That's how you
keep them interested.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Yeah, I do love when they show the bench in
these close games with you know it's on the line.
It's those guys at the end of the bench are
more into these games than your normal mid November late
November games, without a doubt, because there's a lot of
money online. You can win a ton if you're not
making as much as obviously Devin Booker is making seventy
plus billion. A little different to him. I'm sure it
goes to I don't know, maybe maybe he gives it

(13:58):
away or something like that. I'm not watching your pocketbook,
don't worry, but I assume there's a lot of like
sharing with the rest of the team, like the organization,
ball boys, equipment managers of that nature. Maybe I'm wrong,
maybe I'm wrong. And then final thing here on the Cup.
Josh Hart, you brought him up. He had a little
twist to maybe raise the stakes even a little bit

(14:21):
more when it comes to the Cup, the winner of
the whole thing. He thinks you should get an advantage
in the regular season standings. Quote this is Josh Hart.
I think whoever's the winner gets a half game. You
get to the championship game, you get a half game
if you win, If you lose a championship, it doesn't
go against your record. Now you have that half game,
so you have the tiebreaker and it legitimizes that NBA

(14:41):
Cup just a little bit more end quote.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
Thoughts on Josh Hart's.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Idea here really like, don't worry about the half game.
I don't think you need to do that in the standing.
It's just like you would get a tiebreaker in any
situation if you win the Cup.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Your thoughts.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
I was buying into it.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
The only weird part is the number one tiebreaker is
head to head. So let's say the Knicks played the
Philadelphia Semis because they come to the same record at
the end of the year, but they played four times
and the Sixers are four and oh against the Knicks.
Somehow you get a half game above them. That part
is a little weird, But I kind of buy into
what Josh Hart is saying.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Right because it's not very drastic, is what he's suggesting.
So no, that's it a little bit of something that
could get you, I guess, from a play and into
the playoffs or a seed higher or.

Speaker 3 (15:29):
Whatever, which could be basic.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
I don't mind it. You get the Cup tiebreaker rule advantage.
I guess.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
I mean, I guess I would be furious if I
was the tenth seed and team got lucky and won
the Cup in December and then they bounced me for
the rest of the season.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Kind of.

Speaker 5 (15:49):
Yeah, unless your player happened to be hurt during the
one game that mattered. But sure, whatever, not really whatever,
I feel like, try anything for the NBA Cup.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Yeah, I think this is if you're going to add something.
This was a better idea than I saw a float
in a round of like, uh, if you win the Cup,
it like basically bumps you up a tier, Like if
you win the Cup, you automatically get home court advantage
if you're a postseason team, or you automatically, if you're
a playing team get a home game. Yeah, I'm with you,
trans Like, that's to me, that's too extreme this.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
I don't mind.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
Sure, a tie breaker a little incentive, I guess.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Or a draft pick people have thrown out there.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
I don't think that's incentivizing actually, because why do I care,
and that they're going to draft somebody to replace me.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Yeah, I agree with that. This is all based around
Nigel Hayes Davis.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
Cup.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
I think he respects it. I think so too.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
I thought we'd say his name more this season, and
I didn't know what happened today when it comes to
Edga Cup.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
But anyway, we got eight.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Like I think, Okay, I think it's gonna be very
difficult for the Suns to win this thing because everybody's
got to beat Okay, see here, But I do look
at the board and go, like Trey said, it's one
and done to advance. Could you sort of talk yourself
into six or seven of these teams winning, like just
going on a little magical run. I think, so these
are all pretty damn good teams, is my point here.

(17:12):
There was no team that was really been garbage this
year that just like, for whatever reason, did well in
their group and got through.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
So I like that. I like that part.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
All right, let's keep it going. That's enough Cup talk
for now. We'll get more into that next week.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Trey. Another winner of the weekend.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Jalen Johnson, big time winning of the weekend. Two huge
games in two Hawks wins for JJ. He doesn't have
a nickname, U no Jalen Johnson. Fun to say his
full name. Trouble double on Friday against Cleveland went for
twenty nine at twelve and twelve assists found Zach Ricochet,
Nikhil Alexander Walker for back to back three so late
in this one.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
That was pretty sweet.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Also on Sunday, a career high forty one points for
Jalen Johnson, a little bit aided by it being a
two overtime game. He did score twelve points in the
overtime periods, but also added fourteen rebounds evan assists in
the win over Philadelphia. The Hawks were up eight with
forty six seconds left, and I thought we were going
to see a team.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Blow in the eight point lead and lose.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
Like we just saw who was at Suns versus Timberwolves,
like hadn't happened in three thousand games.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
It did happen.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Hawks gave back the eight points, but Jalen saved him
in the overtime periods. Had five in the first overtime,
including a couple of clutch free throws to tie the game.
Send it in doublet where he scored seven, hit two
big threes, including not including, but added a dish to
Dyson Daniels underneath for basically the dagger layup. In fifteen

(18:34):
games without Trey Young, Jalen Johnson's at twenty four points
a game, ten rebounds, eight assists, fifty three from the field,
forty eight from three. Dude's awesome in transition. We know
that he's getting a dunk, a big time dunk, every
single game. He's so big and strong, it's like Lebron
running the break. He's a pretty solid passer, I think
when he's on the move as well, but it really
feels like the game has slowed down for him in

(18:55):
the half court. He's very patient getting to his spots
and he's he's become a really good passer, particularly in traffic.
Like I think the dish to Daniels is kind of
indicative of the way he's been playing, Like he draws
a crowd, he gets in the lane and is strong
enough with the ball to hang on to it and
find a cutter. Daniels has been really benefited, I think
playing as the number two guy outside of Jalen Johnson,

(19:19):
just because with Trey Young, it's like Pat dribble, dribble,
dribble pro pro probe find a shooter. Daniels is hitting
these cuts with Johnson all the time, and it's been
really really impressive. Hawks have gone ten and five without
Trey young. We just found out that they're going to
be reevaluating him in two more weeks, so we get
to see a little bit more Jalen Johnson, which I
think is pretty nice for the Hawks. He's definitely an

(19:40):
All Star right now, and I think a big part
of what's going on is that he's actually been able
to stay on the court for a nice stretch of
games here. We've seen him show flashes of potential. He
was a near All Star last year, but now that
he's staying healthy after a little bout earlier in the season,
he's putting it all together and becoming more than just
an ath like he's a really, really solid basketball player.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, it is absolutely slowed down for him. You can
see it.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Even the play that drew him those key free throws
in overtime was a slowdown and a pump fake on
Dominic Barlow, and he got He got him, and as
he went to the free throw line, Nick Nurse tried
to ice him. He called the time out. Jalen Johnson
goes to the free throw line, no problem, doesn't even
think about it. Bang bang. Then he hits a big
shot in the second overtime. It was a three and

(20:28):
he was talking smack right to the Sixers bench. I
don't think it was to Nick Nurse, but it was
right to the Sixers bench, And yeah, you could see
he's got all the confidence in the world to slow down,
whether it's at the free throw line, whether it's doing
that type of thing. That's why he looks better because
we know in the transition he's fantastic. But if the
game is slowing down for him, like it definitely is.

(20:49):
It has changed with Trey Young out because he's had
more responsibility and it has been a stretch here where
he's had the ball in his hands way more for
a good stretch. The whole injury is a freaking real
deal with this guy, unfortunately, because that's that's a factor.
But this team looks different. They could have been a
winner of the weekend. Keel Alexander Acker was freaking awesome

(21:10):
in both their games. It was fun that Friday. I
didn't mention that Friday game against the Cavs. That was
just fun in general. That was a great NBA Cup game.
DeAndre Hunter, back in Atlanta for the first time, got
a big dunk on Mogay the game him a tribute video,
and then he was like watching him on the bench.
I don't think he liked it. I don't think he
liked a tribute video at all. It's like, yeah, I

(21:31):
played five and a half years here, I stunk. No,
he didn't think that, but I really wonder what was
he thinking. Anyway, The Hawks look fantastic, Jones Johnthon looks fantastic.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Back to that Sixers Hawks game, there's some weird officiating mistakes.
I guess let's call him in that one end of regulation,
the officials didn't give Nick Nurse his timeout request. He
was going crazy on the sidelines trying to get a
timeout with like two or three seconds left, but Paul
George ended up just chucking a heave. Yeah, that obviously

(21:59):
did go down at the fourth quarter buzzer, so they.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Were upset about that.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
And then you brought it up already trying to ice
Jellen Johnson in the first overtime at the line, but
the officials thought Nick Nurse was challenging the call, so
they go replay the review and it's like later determined
that it is an accidental review. It's like Nick Nurse
didn't ask for it. So James Caper's postgame has to

(22:24):
tell like the Pool reporter. Yeah, there was a miscommunication
amongst the officials. We thought when Nurse called the time
out that he wanted to challenge the play. I bring
all this up because the accidental review initially changed the
time to one point one seconds left on the clock.
It where it was going to be left on the clock,
so maybe something you could do with that, But because
it wasn't an actual challenge, it went back to the

(22:44):
point three and then so there are sort of upset
about that.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
It was not a great work there, I thought from
James Capers.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
And his.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Trying to pull James Yeah, so yeah, but anyway, the
Hawks pulled it up.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
Yeah it took forever.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Oh man, yes it did.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, and I won.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
A five hour game. It felt like I truly can't believe.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
I'll check at this point.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Was the easiest way to help, like, not fix the NBA.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
The NBA is great, we are getting great games, but
like the first thing Silver should do and we are
a goddamn broken record on the show, or at least
I am specifically like obviously, cut back on these reviews,
cut back on the amount of timeouts teams can call
down the stretch, like I can't. I can't stand when
like you're allowed to call back to back timeouts because
you can't inbound a ball, like like these games just

(23:35):
take forever sometimes forever, and it's like this should be
the most exciting part of a game and it turns
into the worst, and they could so easily speed it
up a little bit.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
So anyway, it was three hours.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Hate it so much.

Speaker 4 (23:47):
But we watch a lot of basketball, so yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
it was three hours and three minutes in total overtime.
But yeah, I guess yeah, but we do watch a
lot of basketball.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
So I was.

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Wondering, as they're going to do the review and their
flipping between point three seconds and one point one seconds,
I thought I was going nuts. I thought I was
getting it wrong. It's just it is too much, And
I thought maybe that helps out the seventy six ers. Yeah,
they didn't try and challenge it, but they reviewed it.
So they just gave more minutes for Jalen Johnson to
sit there and hang out before he hit free throws,
and I thought maybe that ice maybe, But he was good.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
He definitely looked over the bench like get him up
after both of them.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Yeah, I mean he was wide open on both of them,
so surely they were trying to heckle him. You can't
make this wide open shot. No, he made him their swishes,
I think on both of them. Joel Embiid played, he did,
Paul George played. Yeah, yeah, I think it's the first
time they all played together. And Beid looked pretty good
on offense and sided on defense. This guy gave up
a lot of offensive rebounds. Mogay was running wild when

(24:46):
Embiid was matched up on him, but at least he
was back.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Yeah, it was funny to see him sit the second
overtime because he played too many minutes. You got to
sit now in the most important part of the game,
you said. But Paul George, even though he didn't have
an incredible game, did come through with a huge offensive
redown for the Maxi three to tie it. So, yeah,
the Sixers come through at the end of games. I
guess they do it when their back is against the wall,
you know, so their fourth quarter, fourth quarter team, that's

(25:12):
who they are.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
And Maxi ended up playing fifty two minutes. Oh nice,
and this one, so he should be back over forty
minutes per game, I would think, or at least for
there we go.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
So I haven't had that in a long time. Tika
had a short on that recently, so he's back over forty.
You think monte Alis is watching in the minute logs
every night and he's like so pissed it goes to overtime,
he's like, oh God, damn it.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
You know he's not coming out.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
You know what Maxie's great at is driving on the
left side of the lane and then somehow slicing back
and finishing with his right hand.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
He did it one hundred times against the hut.

Speaker 5 (25:44):
Yeah. Yeah, he had a tiny little gap and he
fits through there. He must be able to jump fares
very well at the subway, like dive right in or
just get around the turnstile.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
You know what he'd be great at is it was
it a Korean thing or a Japanese thing. It was
going around for a long time, like they hold up
like a shape of a human that like a person
has to like gayor.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Belt goes through. Yes, makes you would cook at that. Also,
he's good at it. Was a dog trader. You see
that Westminster show. He did a couple of great guys fascinating.
Put him on every show and the NBA all right,
tas so winner of the weekend. Where do you want
to go?

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Well, Janni said, Kombo is a winner. He returned against
the Knicks, No Big Dale dropped thirty, fifteen and eight
on Friday, and then against the Brooklyn Nets twenty nine
points in just nineteen minutes, and that got him to
twenty one thousand points. He is the sixth youngest player
in NBA history to reach twenty one thousand points and

(26:42):
he wants to be the all time leading scorer. It
was it was a great interview after the game, he
asked he was asked about it, he knew immediately who
the first five are. He named all of them, Wilt, MJ,
Kobe Durant, no big deal in Lebron. Yeah, of course
that's the guy I'm trying to reach. And he wants it.

(27:04):
He said that that is a goal of his. And
it's not six seven, eight years as he said, it's
four five And then he went back to that and
he goes like four and a half thrown numbers. Now
when you look at it, I mean, that would have
to be a ridiculous average, like fifty per game, doesn't it.
He would have to average fifty two over five years

(27:26):
to do it, and that's eighty two games. Okay, that's impossible.
This is a man who's been in the league now
thirteen plus years, so just you know, theoretically, it just
can't happen. To do it, he'd have to play for
another eleven years to average about twenty nine points per game,
so he'd be about forty two. And that's only sixty
seven games, So sixty seven games per season.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
So is that sometime off?

Speaker 4 (27:48):
It's not ridiculous. Well, CBS's Jasmine wimb she did the math.
I ain't doing the math. So we're talking about a
guy who said I'm going to do in four or
five years. Logically, amount of games he's playing per year,
it would be eleven seasons eleven years or so for
a man who's about to turn thirty two or no,

(28:10):
hold on, I always get this wrong. My man on
December sixth, I know the guy's birthday, it's five days
from now.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
But how old does he turn?

Speaker 4 (28:17):
I think he's oh, he's not just turning thirty one,
so he'll be forty two when all a said and done.
If he were still get there, well, there was the
talk about him going to Europe in between or you know,
to end his career. I should say, well, he's going
to do it all right in between him, Yeah, get

(28:38):
into Lebron's forty two thousand. But it ain't gonna happen
unless he wants to, I guess. I mean, unless he's
got these legs that'll keep him into the Take the bet.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I'll take the bet right now. Go te on the line.
Is not becoming the all time leading in the history.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
I'm very confident in that it's unlikely. It's very unlikely.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
Yeah, he'd have to play too many games, but somehow
it's a goal of his all of a sudden.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
Yeah, he scores a lot. Yeah he dominated. Like if
he gets to go up against Danny Wolfe, able to
do it.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Every night for the next eleven seasons, then maybe he
gets there. Yeah, okay, that's fair. I think of him.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
Was so young when he came into the league. You know,
he came into the starters. We measured him. As I
was talking to him, he was down for whatever. That's
how you can tell he was really young. And he's
still got a late start compared to Lebron.

Speaker 2 (29:31):
He was still a year older than Rono con Jesus.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
Yeah, and he wasn't a great score to start, obviously,
he wasn't himself.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
But he respects the Cup. He did come back for
that Cup game.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
He did come back.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
They lost.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
Even though they lost that that was the Jalen Brunson
showing that the Knicks are going to be the number
one seed in the East and he's gonna get some
MVP votes. Knicks are starting to look like the Knicks anyway.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
The incredible Darvin Ham Torrian Prince. Uh, you know, Cup run,
it's over, it's dead. They had lost the game prior.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
To but yeah, that is dead. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Giannis to get to twenty one thousand points in his
career is freaking incredible.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Just that that's why he zoom out.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
He ain't getting to Lebron's forty two thousand, but what
he has become is an incredible feat for him.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Yeah, all right, one more round.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
Well, he's gonna play another eleven years. It's fine, we can,
we can talk about it. He'll get to thirty thousand
points eventually, I assume he will.

Speaker 3 (30:28):
Okay, Yeah, without twos, pretty impressive.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Excuse me, without many, many, many threes, It's pretty impressive
for a modern day player too.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
What he's doing.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
He's about twenty nine fewer threes than MJ hit for
his career, so he'll pass MJ.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
But you know, another round of winners. Let's go back
to you. Trey Cooper Flag gets a winner of the
weekend for me.

Speaker 5 (30:50):
Scored thirty five on Saturday against the Clippers, becoming the
youngest player in league history to score thirty five or
more in a game.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Unseating you guessed that Lebron j.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
He's the youngest guy since Lebron James for literally every
single thing he does right now, because he should still
be in college. Yeah, Cooper Flagg should reclassified when thirteen
to twenty two from the field, nine of eleven from
the free throw line, made a bunch of free throws
late to ice the game for Dallas on a night.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
When they were very, very shorthanded. PJ.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
Washington landed on a basketball in pregame warmups. Looks disgusting, Yeah,
but I thought this was pretty impressive from Cooper Loop,
really aggressive looking for his shop. I thought he was
super smart the way he was attacking mismatches. They would
run some sort of screen for him because he's pretty
much playing point guard. Was bringing the ball up the
court for the Mavericks in this one, and if Chris

(31:40):
Paul switched on to him, get to a spot, shoot
over the top. If it was Harden, use this quickness
and get into the lane, get to the rim. A
lot of times it was John Collins and he would
just test his lateral movement. Collins couldn't hang with him,
easy midrange jumpers for Cooper. Flag also had a monster
dunk on Zoobots after a pick and roll, kind of froze.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
Zoo Bots, goes up, jams it on him two handed.
That was huge.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
That was awesome, great stuff from Cooper, especially impressive because
this came on the second night of a back to
back for him, and he's really struggled so far in
his career. On the second night at back to backs,
he was like ten points per game in these second nights,
even though he's one of the youngest.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Dudes out there. On Friday he had eleven assists. That's nice.
It's a career high for him so far.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
But you heard Candace and Dwayne Wade on the broadcast
the entire time saying be more aggressive, be more aggressive,
be more aggressive. Felt like too many possessions were ending
with PJ. Washington with the ball in his hands. I'm like,
you guys can play very similar styles of basketball. How
is this not Cooper that's doing the majority of the scoring.
But he came out on Saturday. MAVs needed a win
and he put the team on his back. Super impressive

(32:40):
first ten games of the season for Cooper flag fourteen
points a game on forty one percent shooting.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
Next ten games he's played.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
Twenty so far, nineteen points per game on fifty one
percent shooting. If he starts making three pointers Hobie at
like twenty five points per game.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
He's figured out how to play.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
He's really settled into the NBA and now he looks
like he knows what he's doing and not just kind
of free lancing out there.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
I love the way he gets into his mid range
and creates space with his body and is just comfortable
shooting over most guys because he's so big and he
slows things down. So yeah, he's he's getting better, and
he gets better as games go on. At times he
plays better fourth quarters. He plays a lot of minutes,
So yeah, he's going to be the leading score. He's

(33:25):
going to pass that nipple. He's going to give that
Kanka nipple a purple kunerpul or whatever to pass him here.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
That'll happen.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Who do you have for another winner?

Speaker 4 (33:35):
I got a piggyback Cooper flag and say Klay Thompson.
Klay Thompson had a Thanksgiving weekend on and off the court.
On the court, they don't beat the Clippers without Clay.
He was monstrous in that fourth quarter. He had seventeen points.
He played all twelve minutes, and we had a flashback
of Klay Thompson. You know, he started it by a
dribble handoff three, then a cut, then a shot over but.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
To him in the mid range.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
All right, so he has a few shots and then
they decided, all right, we got to put somebody on
him to get a little bit more physical with him.
They put Chris Dunn on him. Didn't matter. He had
three threes in about three minutes to ice that game.
Bank bank bang. Fourth quarter, Here comes Clay. He had
all twenty three points in the second half against that

(34:17):
Clipper team. And off the court, I mean, I mean
he had the best weekend. Meghan the Stallion, his girlfriend,
said before Thanksgiving dinner, I'm really find a cool I'm
really fine a cook for my man and his whole family.
I got to show them I really loved they son.

(34:39):
And then Clay said after the dinner, he said, so good, flawless.
It is the best thing I have ever tasted. Even
his dad, former NBA player Michael Thompson said the Thanksgiving
dinner was the best Thanksgiving food I've ever eaten. Meghan
the Stallion should be Meghan the chef. That's how good
the food was. It was unbelievable. And Clay also unveiled

(35:03):
a boat devoted to his girlfriend called the SS Stallion.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Wow, that was a lot.

Speaker 2 (35:14):
The SS Stallion.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Yeah, didn't you also say he was like questionable for
this game against the Clippers because he was sick because
he ate too much.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Maybe well he played in a back to back Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Well I know.

Speaker 5 (35:28):
He said he went for a swim in the ocean
and decided he was going to play.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
What the guy's awesome?

Speaker 5 (35:36):
He started in the third quarter too, like he had
back to back threes and then carried it into the
fourth and just had but to him completely guessing. I
did like to see Megan the Stallion making the rue
for Meccan cheese.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
You gotta make a Basha metal sauce.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Everybody knows that interesting. Let me check that out.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Was the joke though, she wasn't really making anything and
it was like catered.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Oh she was cooking it, but some some people help.
There's videos of her on the stove during some stuff.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sure she did make something, so
I thought it was part of the damn joke though.
It was like this entire like team coming in to
help make a Thanksgiving Yeah. I saw. I saw her
stir in her it was looking good. It was taking out.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
She was stirring.

Speaker 4 (36:17):
She wasn't wearing anything super fancy while she was stirring,
so it made me believe that she was actually cooking.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Well, Clay had a great weekend, then, yes he did.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Making food for somebody is one of the greatest ways
to show your love for them.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Absolutely absolutely. I'd have some other winners of the weekend.
I have two.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
We'll start with the Charlotte Hornets because they ended a
seven game losing streak with two wins over the weekend,
so let's show him some love. They beat the Bulls
one twenty three one sixteen on Friday night, and then
they followed it up with an overtime win against our
Raptors on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
They beat the no Dunks teams over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
I thought, you know that comeback versus the Raptors on Saturday,
it was pretty impressive. You know, Miles Bridges had a
monster game, but Konk Nipple scored twenty hit the game
tying three in the corner.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
I don't know what Brandon Ingram.

Speaker 1 (37:02):
Was doing there. He backed up a little too much.
Should have had a hand up. Canipple banged it home.
I thought, calling Sexton, he's been awesome for them off
the bench in these two games. James playing hard.

Speaker 2 (37:14):
Yea.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
Bata is all hustle, And it was like you had
fans like basically screaming at Charles Lee to put LaMelo
ball back in the game in the fourth quarter on Saturday,
but he kept the Star on the bench. Now there's
a minutes restriction going on with back to backs there
and Lamello coming back and all that. But he was
also like, I'm running with the guys that got me here.
I'm running with these guys even unto the overtime period,

(37:36):
and rightfully so, these guys were playing hard, and you know,
not only did they snap that losing streak, Like I said,
they got two wins in a row and they got
that crazy City edition court looks good. The blue and
then their jerseys are like a completely different color.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Yeah, it did look sharp.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Big time shot from k Nipple, hand down, man down
for Brandon Miller, catches it, pumps fakes for Ingram, Miller
does nothing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Brandon Miller, Brandon Ingram, Yeah, yeah,
one for thirteen Brandon Miller. He's got the Michael Porter
junior shoulder right now. That thing is tape. But a
big time shot for Kin Nipple. That was That was
really great. The guy has hit at least two clutch

(38:12):
threes this season. Very confident taking it with a K.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
So Amelo doesn't play the last yeah, eight and a
half minutes of the fourth quarter, doesn't play overtime, playing
it back to back, which he played twenty nine minutes
night before, then twenty two minutes that game. What's his
minister restriction on a second night of a back to back.
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
I'm telling you.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
There's like a little bit of like, yeah, minister restriction,
but also yeah, let's go with these guys that are
playing much much harder. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Yeah, sex, a little bit of both sex and helps
them win that game, there's no doubt.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
Yeah, he has been really good over this weekend.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Where's my man, RJ. Barrett? We need him?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
Also winter the weekend, Josh Hart, you guys already brought
up that he got robbed.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
That's not great.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
I guess one hundred and eighty five thousand dollars in
watches and maybe some jewelry from a Manhattan hotel back
in September. So he definitely wants to advance into the Cup,
get that money back, maybe replace some of that jewelry.
Hopefully he was insured though, but he was awesome in
two wins over the weekend. For the next they beat
the Bucks in that Cup game, they beat the Raptors

(39:14):
on Sunday. He's averaging over the weekend nineteen and a
half points per game, thirteen and a half rebounds, seven assists,
three steals, two threes, and he shot fifty four percent.
And he is just like he takes over games like
he's absolutely everywhere. He's one of my favorite players to
watch because just the impact he has on a winning
basketball team. It's pretty infectious. I think to that squad,

(39:35):
so good stuff from Josh Hart not great whoever stole jewelry,
but he'll get it back.

Speaker 2 (39:41):
He took it in stride. He'll get it back. Yeah.
I don't know if you put it in the safe
in the hotel. I'm not sure did he leave it out.
I don't know. A lot of questions surrounding this.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Right, they're looking their best. They're looking like the one
seed in the Eastern cont I think so. Yeah, just
quick shut out for the Memphis Grizzlies. This team started
the road trip with three straight wins.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
What zach Edy Zachie coming back winner of the weekend.
I think him versus Zubots was just awesome to see.
He was like making Zubots look small. I think he's bigger,
Like he looks bigger and stronger, which is interesting. He
didn't have a huge game against Zubots. I think he
went for four points, but he had nineteen boards and
gave Zubots fits. And then he just dominated the little

(40:25):
guys on Sacramento. Precious and Maxine were not able to
handle the big boy grilling on the root seventeen five
blocks for Die went sixteen of twenty from the field.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Took one free throw following maybe yeah, literally followed bro
ethical hoops right there.

Speaker 5 (40:45):
He was just kepting the ball next to the rim
and just turning and shot like oh was he traveling?
Roll it back now? Just beautiful for work from this
giant man.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
That's his first first thirty point game in the NBA. Right,
we saw that in college a lot, the first one
in the NBA. Yeah, a definite winner of the weekend.
Anyone else you want to slip.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
In there, there's a lot.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
I just want to shout out Jay Huff who scored
the fourteen straight points of the Pacers for the Pacers
against Chicago Bulls, and that was all the points he scored.
Fourteen done. You know, we'll get to the Bulls as
a loser. But it is funny they left him open.
Splash those threes, my man. And he had four threes

(41:24):
literally the first fourteen points for a team.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
It's rare.

Speaker 2 (41:29):
It's a lot.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Yeah, maybe guard them. Yeah, okay, that's our winners. We'll
take a very quick break here when we come back.
Some losers of the NBA weekend.

Speaker 5 (41:38):

Okay, we've done a whole bunch of NBA weekend winners.
Let's do a few losers here. Who wants to get
a started task, Let's go with you here.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
I guess I'm a loser for mispronouncing fina. I'm a Fina,
do it, I'm a Fina. Pronounce it correctly. Everybody calling
me out listen reading it, it's Finna, yes, and I
have you know, Fina is closer to finally, so it
makes more sense than it would be fina. None of you,
none of you calling me out because I really went

(42:51):
hard to say fina anyway, I have said fina before.
I don't know why I went with Finna. It's just
funner to say.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
I think in the shirks.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
Wait, wait, fine is the right way to do it? No,
finn a is the right way. Oh yeah, so I
pronounced it correctly. No, you said finally, yeah, oh.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
It's way better fine and finally anyway you're saying.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
It's more like finally.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
Yeah, interesting, I did weird anyway.

Speaker 5 (43:19):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
The Los Angeles Clippers are definitely a loser. Things are
getting dire. This team is five and fifty getting dire. Well,
it's getting more dire.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Well. They lost at.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
Home to the Memphis Grizzlies. They lost at home to
the Dallas Mavericks. It's getting it's getting worse because you
can see in James Harden and the way he's doing
postgame interviews. It feels like the last interview he's doing
with the Houston Rockets. It's a question and then I
roll yeah, I mean he kept the words basically, we

(43:50):
gotta play talent. Essentially say he's finn A request the trade.
That's the talk. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We will definitely get
into that tomorrow Ontoesday show where the Clippers ideally would go,
where each one of those players ideally would go. Because
if we're at five and fifteen here quarterway through the
season and things aren't looking good because they're just not

(44:13):
deep offensively. I mean versus the Grizzlies, their bench lost
forty seven to fifteen. We had four Grizzlies and double
digits off the bench Aldama, KCP, Cam, Spencer and Landale.
And then versus the Maps, same thing happened. Their bench
lost forty one to five. They have lost thirteen to fifteen.
So tomorrow we'll be talking about where Hard can go,

(44:34):
where Kawai can go.

Speaker 3 (44:35):
Zoo Bots. Would they trade that guy?

Speaker 4 (44:37):
I doubt it, but we'll go all the way down
the roster because they don't have an answer. It's defense
and its offense, and when both of those things aren't working,
ty lewis trying things. He's pulled brook Lopez from the rotation,
he's benched him recently, not playing at all. Chris Paul
obviously doesn't look good. Bradley Beal has obviously gone for
the season, so I don't know where the answer is.

(44:58):
They're trying their young guys. Here comes Tobe Sanders that
ain't working offense and defense. So that's a problem, very
very big problem.

Speaker 1 (45:07):
Five and fifteen the LA Clippers, I mean, preseason people
had him in a tier probably playoffs or at the
very least a play in sort of squad in the
loaded West, but they are a tier down from that.

Speaker 5 (45:18):
Yeah, they won fifty games last year and came in
with a healthy Kawhi Leonard. I definitely thought they were
going to be way better. I thought they were going
to be better than the Lakers, and the Lakers look awesome. Meanwhile,
it feels like everybody who was teetering on the edge
of the cliff for the Clippers has completely fallen off. Lopez, Batoom,
Chris Paul, their old guys look incredibly old. So that's

(45:39):
why they don't have any offense. They're getting nothing from
their support players. You throw in Beal's injury, you throw
in Bodanovic's injury. Now the team suddenly looks very very thin.
They're playing two guys named Kobe and neither of them
can score. They've got a very predictable offense. It's like
Harden's going to be in a pick and roll or
an ISO, Kawhi's going to be in an ISO, or

(46:00):
they're gonna post up Zubats. As soon as the play starts.
Within three seconds, you're like, here's how the play's gonna end.
And that's why they're able to be so easily defended.
And then we've talked about a ton of times if
there's a turnover, easy basket on the other side, because
there's no athleticism with this team, especially with Derek Jones
junior out. I even think like Chris Dunn isn't as

(46:20):
good on defense anymore. He's just getting lost off the
ball all the time. He saw it so many times
with Klay Thompson. The dude's spinning around picks. They're literally
doing a spin move on defense that doesn't work, and
I don't know, they just they look bad.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
So yeah, suddenly they're a trade team.

Speaker 5 (46:34):
I went into last year's record because they started slow
last year, so I was like, oh, maybe they were
struggling through the first twenty games, and they put it
together in the middle part of the season.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
That's what the Clippers have often done under Tylu.

Speaker 5 (46:45):
But no, they were twelve and eight last year, so
not great, but a competitive team, and right now it
looks like if they get down, it looks impossible for
them to dig their way out of a hole.

Speaker 1 (46:53):
Yeah, offensive rating one fourteen point zero, so twenty second
in the league. Defense is even worse, twenty fifth out
of thirty teams on the defensive side. And yeah, Trey
speaks to what you were saying, like they play a
very slow, methodical offensive game. I think they rank near
the bottom and pace, which is not a surprise for

(47:14):
a team that old and maybe the offensive players that
they have. But it's just so weird to me that
they were so great on the defensive end last year
and if just the complete opposite from the top five
to bottom five. Now, Yeah, there are some main pieces
like Derek Jones junior was an important part, but a
lot of the guys are still there, So for that
drop off is wild, and they are they're not hitting

(47:37):
there over under a forty nine and a half, I'll
tell you that that was the streak. That's right, all right,
So Clippers a pretty obvious weekend loser.

Speaker 2 (47:46):
What about u tk oh, it's over.

Speaker 5 (47:49):
The balls are back under five hundred, lost to the
Hornets and the Pacers this weekend to end the month.
You'll remember November first, the balls were five and oh
first place, and it's December first and they're nine to
ten night back where we've been place in the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 3 (48:07):
Just like that.

Speaker 5 (48:08):
Not given as many text messages about Josh Giddy these days,
UH defense completely fallen apart. They're down to twenty second overall.
It's one hundred and twenty every single night. Somehow they
held the Pacers to one oh three, probably because the
Pacers are bad, but guess what sore the Bulls. In
the last two weeks, they've lost to the Jazz Pelicans, Hornets, Pacers,
and beat the Wizards by one.

Speaker 2 (48:27):
If you lose to all the worst teams in the lap,
what does that make you?

Speaker 5 (48:33):
I don't know. VANDOL odds to flipped back minus one
sixty to miss to miss the playoffs. So they're favored
to miss the playoffs, but still favor to make the
play In their next six games, they got a chance
to like get back on track, Magic Nets, Pacers Warriors, Hornets, Pelicans.
But this team feels like they're beat before the game starts.
They gave up fourteenth straight to Jay huff All in

(48:54):
wide open shots, like he's not playing great this season,
But after he makes the first two, maybe step out
Woucie Baby, they look completely confused. Buzzellis isn't hardly doing
anything right now. As soon as he makes a mistake, yank,
and then they bring in a worse guy. So I
don't really think there's much of a solution here. But
you know, if you finish with the tenth best lottery odds,
the NBA gives you the first pick, So things are

(49:14):
looking up right.

Speaker 3 (49:15):
Yeah. Interesting.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
I do remember when they were five and zero and
they were incredible, and we talked a lot about them.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
Uh you did point out maybe we're getting a little
lucky when it comes to other teams shooting the ball,
because like they were, you know, just missing.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
Teams are just missing against your balls, and maybe that's
come back to the media in a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 5 (49:35):
They're like maybe twelfth in three point percentage or something
like that. So as long as they're not the worst,
you can beat the bulls because they're also going to
give up layups.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
He's not just three pointers that are happening.

Speaker 5 (49:46):
They got one guy on the entire roster that they can
play defense, and it's a Koro.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
And he's out.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (49:53):
Pretty easy to beat people off the dribble and then
score inside. Though it did take an amazing shot from
Siakam too.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
Grazy two guys draped all over him, timed it absolutely perfect.

Speaker 3 (50:04):
He did.

Speaker 1 (50:04):
That was a gorgeous game winner. Any thoughts on the
Chicago Bulls just back to where they belong.

Speaker 4 (50:11):
I don't know how much Isaac Ocoro really factors into
the defense, but he's nice to have, so hopefully he
comes back.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
I think he's it. He should be back soonish.

Speaker 5 (50:20):
It doesn't matter, it really doesn't. Trade season is open. Yeah,
give me all those second round picks, first rounders?

Speaker 2 (50:28):
Anymore?

Speaker 5 (50:30):
Was get out of a first rounder from Moods. You
got lit up by Jay Huff. Maybe maybe Kobe White.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Since he's on a contract, could get a first rounder.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
And trade season is almost here, you're going back to
uh talking about Joe and Johnson. You did say Trey
Young is going to be reevaluated in two weeks. I
heard you say, yeah, it takes us right to about
that December fifteenth.

Speaker 2 (50:53):
Interesting. Interesting, see, I didn't know what of interest? All right?

Speaker 1 (50:57):
Those are Clippers, Bulls losers the weekend. I we'll give
a loser the weekend to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Speaker 2 (51:03):
What's going on? I know the Hoop.

Speaker 1 (51:05):
Collective is already wondering if we should panic about the
Cavaliers because we are past the quarter mark of the season.

Speaker 2 (51:12):
They're twelve and nine. Cavaliers are in a play in
spot right now.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
They lost to Atlanta on Friday night, as we talked about,
followed it up on Sunday with a two point loss
to the Celtics, and they scrambled to sort of get
back in that game, but they fell short. And this
is a team like the Knicks that we thought, oh well,
they're gonna sort of run away with the Eastern Conference
in terms of the regular season.

Speaker 2 (51:32):
We won't even have to worry.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
About talking about the Cavs until the postseason, and then
we'll see what they're made of. But they are struggling
a lot, and you're getting quotes now from the locker room.
Jalen Tyson is saying, I think we're in cruise control
as a team. I think we're not hungry enough. What
happened to us last year, it's a similar thing that's
happening this year. We're getting ran out of the gym,
we're getting beat on the glass toughness. It's on us

(51:55):
to fix it.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
And then you.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
Got mobilely openly wondering if maybe this little frustration right
now is a good thing and it forces some evolution
because he had a good game against Celtics, but a
lot of eyes on him. Hey man, we thought you
were going to level up and you haven't. So yeah,
the Calves here at twelve to nine.

Speaker 4 (52:12):
Any thoughts Jalen Tyson quotes, I mean he's right, there's
a hunger lack of hunger there. I mean they just
don't have it. And I wonder if DeAndre Hunter will
go to the bench as soon as Max Struz comes back,
because he's part of their rotation, He's part of their hunger,
I would think, so. I think that is a change

(52:33):
that will happen when he comes back, but it is
still going to be a while, So that's the answer.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
Really, the Calves are missing guys.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
I get that, but like you know, Mitchell's playing Mobley's playing.
Garland is back, and I know Jared Allen is important,
and some shooters in Maryland.

Speaker 2 (52:52):
I know, but yeah, my point is like I'm tired
of the hearing that.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
Like it's like, Okay, a lot of guys, a lot
of teams are missing guys, and you still have a
good squad.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
So it is weird you're twelve to nine. You don't
feel the Cavs at all.

Speaker 5 (53:03):
No, they are not a physically imposing team, even though
they play two seven footers. Like I said, Alan is
really struggling the season. The guy's like a sixty five
percent shooter for his career. He's down in the low
fifties right now. I think he's way under ten rebounds
a game. We know Mobley's not a big rebounder. They're
so dependent on making jump shots. They're one of the
top three teams in the league in three point right.

(53:25):
That's fine, that's what they did last year. But they
had a lot of guys.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
Who could shoot.

Speaker 5 (53:29):
Garland was playing the majority of the season, Mitchell was
healthy for the majority of the season, Struce was there.
They had Ty Jerome as a fifty to forty ninety
guy coming off the bench.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
Lonzo hasn't been able to fill in for him.

Speaker 5 (53:40):
They don't really put pressure on their rims, so they
got to be making three pointers, which is why they
had the stat that I mentioned last week where's like
Donovan Mitchell has to score thirty five for this team
to win. He can do it sometimes, but he needs
somebody else to come along with him, because it doesn't
feel like they have anything else that's reliable on the
offensive end outside a jumper. Then, like defensively, they're just

(54:03):
not a very athletic team. Like Mobley's a really good
versatile defender, Allen helps out at the rim, but they
don't have athletes on the wing, like I think that's
why a team like the Raptors gave them so much trouble.

Speaker 2 (54:14):
He just run it down their throats, get.

Speaker 5 (54:16):
The ball off the glass, and turn defense into offense.
And the Cavs don't really have a way to keep
up with that. So if you're not athletic and you're
not like taking it to the other team from the
physicality standpoint, like a team like the Rockets does, what
do you really have?

Speaker 2 (54:31):
They seem a little bit lost to me.

Speaker 1 (54:32):
Yeah, And I think from last year to this year,
a glaring difference too, is Garland did play a lot
last year, right, played seventy five games. He helped the
Cavs have the number one offense in the league. I mean,
Mobley was an all NBA talent. They were the top seed,
as we talked about. But this year Garland has been
like in and out of the lineup like four or
five times already. Now he's back right now, but there's
no reliability with him unfortunately because of injuries, and he's struggling.

(54:56):
I think a part of it is coming back and
go in being an injury and coming back like he's
shooting thirty percent.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
Darius Garland right now.

Speaker 1 (55:02):
Again had a bit of a better weekend, i'll say,
numbers wise, so maybe that gets him going. But yeah,
no one expected twelve to nine here like a sort
of an average Cavs team despite the injuries, even in
this East, with all of the injuries to top guys
like Tatum and Halliburton.

Speaker 4 (55:17):
Yeah, and with Garland out, you can understand why your
offense might not be great, but there is no reason
that their defense should drop off the way it is.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
They just shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (55:28):
Alan not being himself as a factor, there's no doubt,
and I do think DeAndre Hunter will go to the
bench asap. I know that prior to the season, I
mentioned how Kenny Atkinson really endorsed DeAndre Hunter and what
a great offense or what great offseason he had, because
his offense looked great and he's scoring fine. But I

(55:51):
do think his lack of spacing that he provides hurts
Evan Mobley. He should be out there shooting threes, and
he's not shooting them very well. His percentage is very
bad in comparison to his two point shooting. You know,
he's the thirty three percent shooting three point shooter, and
that's where Max Shrews I think would help out a

(56:11):
little bit, just to stretch it out and to give
the guys a little bit more space, and just to
increase that hunger level, which yeah, they there is something
with Garland out Alan, not himself in that starting lineup.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Garland is kind of the key for this team because
he sets up Alan and he sets up Mobly, and
he's really good at getting into the paint and creating
for others. He's their most creative playmaker and passer for sure.
Like Mitchell, I think that's part of the reason he's
taken so many threes this year too, is there's just
a glut of people hanging out on the paint and
there's nobody to make plays for other people. So I

(56:45):
think it is encouraging that Garland had a couple of
good games over the weekend. They just need him to
stay on the court for a month straight so they
can actually start building some sort of a rhythm and
figure out their rotations, letting him play as the number
one guy alongside either Mobley or Alan, setting them up
and letting them impose themselves.

Speaker 1 (57:03):
I do remember Kenny Atkinson saying, like earlier on and
they didn't come out of the gate like super highs,
like you know, give it, give it a quarter of
the season, give it twenty five games until you really
make an assessment of our team. Well we're basically there.
We're coming up on that sort of this week or
the next, so we'll see if if are they a
team potentially in sort of trade talks and moving one

(57:24):
other bigs like probably would be like Alan. I don't
think we'll get to the Garland and Mitchell split up
yet that we talked about prior to the awesome year
last year, but maybe Jared Allen. Yeah, he's he's been
bad when he's playing and he's gonna miss I think
still another week or something with a fingy.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
He's got a banged up fingy. I think, yeah, I
think it. Did it just happen? Yeah, just how he's
gonna miss a week as well?

Speaker 4 (57:44):
Say yeah, yeah when Garland plays there four and three
this season, So you can look at that and say, Okay,
when he plays, we're a lot better, and that's totally true.
But they have lost just yeah, that camaraderie. That's what
Michael Jordan talked about when he was interviewed by Mike Tarico.
We just need to play together and that's a part
of it. There's no doubt Garland is their best playmaker,

(58:06):
as good as Donovan Mitchell is. He gets in there
and makes things happen. And unfortunately Mobile hasn't been the
guy to just turn it on and create for himself,
to have a go to put it on the floor,
spin move. It ain't there yet, even though he's putting
up the numbers and he's good defensively. Yeah, they've lost
their their charisma. This ain't the same Caves team, all right.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
Those are our winners and losers of the weekend. Let's
hear who we missed. Let us know in the YouTube comments.
Bye love Boy of the Night unsullied by sponsorship since Wednesday,
so many great nominees for Low Boy Fantasy Line of
the Night. We've mentioned a lot of them when we've

(58:47):
been talking about winners. Zach ety thirty two points, seventeen boards,
five blocks, huge, the Lakers duo of Luka Don Chic
and Austin Reeves. These guys are on fire. They both
had monster games on Sunday. Maxi, Jalen Johnson, Peyton Pritchard
all scored over forty. But the will boy in a
loss doesn't matter goes to Denny Avdia, who recorded his

(59:09):
fourth career triple double, racking up game highs of thirty
one points, nineteen rebounds, ten assists in the Blazers loss
to Oka. See now, he shot just six or fourteen
from the field. He hit a lot of free throws,
nineteen of twenty three at the free throw line.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
He's a free throw guy. Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
He likes to barrel into guys. And he was getting
the whistle. He was getting superstar whistle. I thought that
was a bit of an unwatchable game Thunderblazers. There's a
lot of whistles, but he had one steal, only one
turnover in thirty seven minutes.

Speaker 2 (59:39):
So Denny avdya getting getting will boy?

Speaker 1 (59:42):
There was, like I said, a lot of guys would
pick from like five or six guys from Sunday.

Speaker 4 (59:45):
He's had four triple doubles now in his career. They've
all been thirty point games.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (59:50):
Interesting, only the second player in NBA history to score
thirty plus points in each of his first four career
triple doubles. And that's a lot of boards. Who's the
other one? Thirty point?

Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
Oh you don't have it?

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
No, I don't, Okay, I just ESPN stats.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Uh who could be? Maybe maybe that's a weird one.

Speaker 3 (01:00:11):
That's weird, weird one. That's weird to see Denny doing it.

Speaker 4 (01:00:16):
I mean, as good as he is, he's a driver
and the ball is in his hands and he's driving,
and they tried, they tried to.

Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
Knock off okay.

Speaker 4 (01:00:24):
See, it is weird to see okay see in a
clutch game, it's just strange.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
And shake just takes over like he went like four
or five, had an assist inside beautiful past, the chat
home run underneath just completely took over the game. Not
a lot of free throws either than in the clutch
for him. He was getting to his spot, getting his jumper.

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Yes, play some fun games of Blazers games.

Speaker 5 (01:00:47):
You think Shay has not been the leader in free
throw attempts, it's got to be in like the last
three years since he's been MVP level. Yeah, I bet,
I bet it's less than five. Wow, less than five.
I mean it takes a ton of free throw Yeah,
but he took twelve last night. That's the most on
any team in almost any other game. We'll have to

(01:01:08):
ask ESPN Stats and Info after they pull that one
about the thirty point triple doubles first, Yeah, probably Wilt Chamberlain.

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Yes, it just probably is. Yeah, I'd go with that.

Speaker 4 (01:01:19):
Another stat about Shae, he scores more than half of
their clutch points, which isn't surprising when you say it
like that, when it's Shay. But that's not been done.
I think Tom Haberstrow threw this out there, but that's
not done rarely at all, that a team has a
guy shoot score over fifty percent of.

Speaker 3 (01:01:38):
Their clutch points.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
Huge.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Yeah, that's a big, big number.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
Are you telling me he's gonna win Clutch Player of
the Year.

Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
Probably now that they're playing more of them, it could be.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
All right, pick them tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
We're all zero and zero again for the month of December.
We've got to figure out what we're putting on the line.
What are we going to be paying off. If you
have a suggestion, let's let us know in the comments
as we figure out who will if you're doing what
at the end of the month, whoever's in last place.
But we're zero zero tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
Where we're going.

Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
We're going to Denver, Denver hosting Dallas and they are
a ten and a half point favorite, almost like a
bit of a big line. As guys who are into
every single night in the NBA, Dallas is playing better.
So that's why it's a little surprising you zoom out.
A lot of people who are betting will just say, well,
gus our away better team. That makes sense, But they

(01:02:27):
do kind of play down to their competition a little bit.
And that's why I that's why I took the MAVs
skeets here in the same boat.

Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Yeah, I think I think they can lose by ten
or less. It would be one of these classic backdoor
covers even here.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Tonight, But it is Joki versus Anthony Davis, Joki Jones
ad Yeah, so maybe maybe as a gentiferen but but
they're lacking a couple of starters obviously, so that is
a problem for them.

Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
But a couple of very important defensive starters. Yeah, and
ag and Brown chill. Okay, so you got the Nuggets
winning by a lot still.

Speaker 5 (01:03:03):
Yeah, I mean the line is so big it makes
you wonder as Anthony Davis gonna play. He didn't play
on Saturday against the Clippers second night of effact.

Speaker 2 (01:03:12):
Back but had a day off. I don't know. This
is maybe too big of a line. Who knows, man,
Let's see who knows? Trey's got the Nuggets. I gotta
win by eleven or more.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
We need a closer game and we'll get off to
a good start here hopefully in December. What else we
got tonight? Hawk's pistons at seven o'clock. It's good sounding
game in Detroit, Clippers heat. That's the Norman Powell revenge. Hey,
what will Norm go for?

Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
Bulls?
